The Prosperity Toss To see out the old year, we gather to have the biggest and grandest meal of the old year. Aunty KK annd son Jacky invited Uncle to join them for the Yue Sang or Properity Toss and to partake in a grand feast. We enjoyed Bak Kut Teh; Aubty even made a vegetarian version. There were dumplings, steamed tom yam blue cod, paua & dried scallop, pork belly in bean sauce, fish maw and vegetarian Lo Han Chye. (1.31.22) 1) today is the last day of the year of the Ox and tomorrow will be a brand new year & it’ll be the year of the Tiger! Since today is Chinese New Year Eve, there was a lot that needs to be done and I had an early start 2) woke up early and walked to a nearby wet market to grab some last minute yet fresh groceries. It was rainy and cold so there were lots of umbrellas which was quite a hassle in the market but nonetheless, I managed to get everything I needed. Being the CNY Eve, everyone was out and about shopping so the market was jam packed but it definitely gave me the new year feels that this year lacked due to covid, which resulted in the closing of the traditional flower markets. 3) I then walked home and while I had brunch, I used my electric dryer to dry all my clothes and folded them away since the next few days will be rainy so there is no point in leaving my laundry out hanging 4) I then proceeded to clean for the next 3-4 hrs around the apartment, which included but not limited to dusting, vacuuming, mopping, changing bed sheets and scrubbing the bathroom. 5) after cleaning, I proceeded to cook my CNY Eve dinner. I was very happy and proud of the end result. Chinese New Year Eve Dinner Tradition At My House

Halo teman-teman semua. Saya mau share mengenai tradisi makan malam di keluarga saya sebelum hari Imlek. Hal ini sudah merupakan tradisi keluarga kami untuk berkumpul dan makan malam bersama sebelum hari Imlek.

Dulu sewaktu popo (nenek) saya masih ada, kami keluarga besar berkumpul ramai sekali. Tapi skrg popo saya sudah tidak ada, dan sebagian besar keluarga sudah mempunyai keluarga masing-masing, sehingga agak sulit mengumpulkan seluruh anggota keluarga untuk makan malam bersama 😅

 Sehingga, saat ini tradisi makan malam bersama masih tetap diadakan, tapi pesertanya berkurang jauh hehe. Tapi pada saat imlek barulah kami semua berkumpul keluarga besar. Dan keluarga ini benar-benar besar 😅, karena papa saya saja 9 bersaudara dan mama saya 13 bersaudara hehe, sekarang mereka semua sudah beranak-cucu, jadi hitung sendiri deh jumlah anggota keluarganya hahahaha..

 Mama saya hobi sekali memasak dan dia benar-benar pandai memasak, hal ini bisa terlihat dari pipi saya yg agak chubby 🤓. Tp ini jg disebabkan krn faktor genetik 😝

 Biasanya semua sayur untuk Chinese New Year Eve Dinner, mama yg masak, tapi karena sudah mulai berumur dan tenaga berkurang, maka sebagian mama yg masak sendiri sedangkan sebagian lagi mama beli.

 Berikut adalah sayur yg sering dihidangkan untuk makan malam bersama di malam Imlek yaitu:

Ini adalah Hoisem (teripang) dengan jamur dan ayam. Mama sendiri yg beli Hoisem lalu memasak sendiri. Ini lezaat teman-teman, dan rugi kalau tidak makan karena harga hoisem sangat mahal hehehe 😎

 Ini adalah Udang Saos Inggris. Ini juga bikinan mama. Udangnya fresh dan garink karena dibeli sendiri dalam keadaan fresh dan langsung dimasak dengan menggunakan saos inggris.

 Jangan pernah makan tanpa sayur hehe. Ini adalah sayur brokoli yg ditumis dengan tomat dan kacang kapri.

 Ini adalah PakCamKe,  yaitu ayam rebus yg ditaburi bawang putih goreng.

 Ini adalah bakso sapi dan bakso ikan. Hidangan kuah dibutuhkan agar leher tidak seret

 Dan ini adalah cumi goreng saos JunNjan. Ini kami pesan di resto favorit kami ✌️

 Ini adalah Ikan Gurame Asam Manis, Ikan ini juga dipesan di resto favorit kami yaitu JunNjan. 👌

 Ini adalah bakso goreng legendaris bikinan mama saya. Dijamin kalo makan ini pasti ketagihan. Saya sendiri kalo lagi kalap bisa makan 10 baskso hehehe. Ditambah dengan saos cabe cukanya bikin makan ga bisa berhenti 🤓👍👍👍

 Ini adalah pelengkap makanan hehehe. Tiada lengkap makan tanpa minuman ini hehehe.

 Karena saya bukan pecinta alcohol maka saya minum soda saja hehehe

Yg terpenting dari makan malam bersama ini adalah untuk mempererat hubungan kekeluargaan. Kita tahu semua pasti sibuk dengan aktivitas masing-masing, ditambah lagi jaman sekarang menuntut aktivitas individu yg tinggi untuk semua bidang pekerjaan.

 Jadi dengan adanya tradisi kumpul untuk makan malam bersama di malam Imlek adalah untuk saling mengingatkan bahwa sesibuk-sibuknya kita jangan lupa kalau kita masih ada keluarga. Komunikasi harus terjalin di tengah kesibukan kita 😊
