I love you people who are unapologetically fans of niche, obscure or old things
To every artist, writer, or blogger out here making art, stories and posts about the books I loved in middle school, the shows I loved as a child, the random bands I like, obscure video games, old camp bad movies, and anything else niche, weird and obscure I love you. Wether you’re writing fanfiction, making art, headcannons, AUs, or just shitposting I’m kissing you lovingly on the forehead and listening to you intensely

i wondered if villainy was like armstrong feint, someone once kind and gentle who lowered himself into treachery, or more like a mysterious beast, hidden in the depths and summoned to wickedness. but all these questions seemed wrong.

Charlie Brown's Super Books of Question and Answers (Books, 1978)
You can digitally borrow them here.
These were later packed as Charlie Brown's 'Cyclopedia in 1980/1981 and 1990; various volumes of both versions of the 'Cyclopedia can be found here.

encyclopedia brown was so good man. you get to solve the mystery yourself using obscure trivia. you get to watch this little twelve year old solve actual crimes for his cop father as well as stolen-lunch-money level petty shit for his classmates. hes got a girl best friend whose whole job is to beat the shit out of bullies for him. epic sauce

My favorite genre of book is the “list book,” where the contents are essentially one long, cut-and-dry list of information, organized in alphabetical order with no embellishments whatsoever, other than diagrammatic pictures which show the meaning of something. This includes dictionaries in English, foreign language-to-English dictionaries, encyclopedias on various subjects, toxic chemical transportation handbooks for truckers, etc.

Silas(The Graveyard Book) VS Leroy "Encyclopedia" Brown(Encyclopedia Brown)
Reminder to be nice, this is all in good fun. Anyone who bullies me or others will be blocked immediately.
Also, this is a tournament to find out Tumblr's favorite character, despite what the picture implies. So, vote for your favorite!

an idea i really like: rather than being another soul trapped inside the body of golden freddy, evan doubles as the entity shadow freddy. a nonviolent, reclusive spirit, wearing the twisted face of the animatronic that took his life; with no physical body simply because evan didn't die in the diner. he makes the active choice to help his father (to lure the animatronics to the safe room in the "follow me" minigames, so william can dismantle them) for the same reasons elizabeth does; that's their dad. they care about him. they want to make him proud. the only spirits haunting the fazbear name that don't hold any animosity towards william. and i'm sure, on some level, evan cares about the other children. but at the end of the day, michael is the only afton working against william.

hundreds of people have said this already but I don't agree with the premise that "being raised using modern technology makes people better at technology" in fact it's probably the opposite. modern tablets and chromebooks and whatever have gotten so shiny and hyperoptimized that they implicitly discourage people from learning troubleshooting skills.

Literally my autistic 3 years old with his encyclopedias. He will just carry one around open to a section bring it to me and say, “Momma plans!” (or whatever he’s opened to). And we read about *whatever it is
