If you're in the US and you're concerned about Palestine, leave US Jews alone, and start asking your local evangelist how much money their christian church sends annually to support the genocide being committed by the state of israel.
#i have been to many evangelical churches and conferences and they are all fully comfortable and proud of funding genocide#'its not a genocide. its a bloodline feud between isaacs children and ishmael's!' oh so you're just gullible and hateful. cool.#do you also think the cia has your best interest at heart and that cops can be reformed?#even at 13 when the sunday school teacher was like ' god made 9/11 happen cause we weren't uncritically supporting the state of israel'#i was like 'idk anything about conspiracy theories or geopolitics but I'm pretty sure you're full of shit'

I don't think I've ever been this reluctant to teach Sunday School in my life, and that's probably because a) I was so burned out by constant and frequent involvement in ministry from my previous church and I'm not over it, a year later, or b) I feel pressured into it. which is bizarre, because it's not like the pastor told me to volunteer. He just asked me three times, because he knew I had leadership experience in ministry, and said they needed people. which. How am I supposed to say no when you tell me there's a need.
#i really really dont want to be involved in children's ministry right now and clearly i am really bad at saying no even when im personally#exhausted in so many ways and in so many areas#it is really hard to shake that 'oh i will volunteer for the x thing you need volunteers for even though im struggling a bit and work mysel#to the bone because that's what i should do' mentality that had me burnt out in the first place#reluctant perhaps is not the best word. cranky. resentful even.#i am so happy to serve in other areas i am just so tired and i dont even know WHY i am so reluctant to teach sunday school

Catholic guilt is when you feel bad for not giving away your food to a crow even after you fed it enough food that it was full enough to just carry what it couldn't eat back to its nest
#i have so much.....and this crow...hes living outside in this horrible winter weather....#i snapped apart a whole peperoni stick and a cheesestick for him#and im taken back to a horrible day in sunday school where they made us color this page#it was of a fat greedy rich man eating a feast in front of a absolutely starving and malnourished man holding a begging bowl#and i had nightmares of being homeless and begging at windows at families eating lavish dinners#like i think the message they were trying to send was you need to give to those in need more#but im pretty sure at least a chunk of us fixated more on the even if youre starving and need help desperately. people can just. not help.#like those who were blessed or whatever with food can decide to not help you even if they have it in excess. but its not a sin.#because its not greed if you keep a gift from god/a blessing all to yourself#my church wasnt great at teaching us tiny children. but when things did stick it was usually from guilt

okay i woke up with a song in my head that i cannot place and i'm hoping one of you musical lovers that follow me can help me out
this is the tune:
here are my vibes for trying to place what song it is:
i believe it's from an old musical? or if it's not that old it's styled to be that way?
i think the song is about teaching someone something, like the rain in spain from my fair lady
first three notes are music, the descending notes are a phrase of some form
i feel like it could be about a dance? or a proper name for something? like "bum bum bum, the sa-ra-je-vo waltz"
here are musicals i've looked through and it hasn't immediately stuck out: my fair lady, the king and i, oklahoma, carousel, oliver, south pacific, camelot, the music man, guys and dolls, annie get your gun, the sound of music, bye bye birdie, funny thing happened on the way to the forum, sweet charity. so i think it could be from a stage musical i haven't seen OR it's from a movie musical which of course does not narrow it down at all.
#please help me my family is dying#i've seen more musicals than that btw i just know it's not the kind of song to be from wicked or cabaret or whatever#i'm also prepared for the answer to be like. a stupid old children's bible song from sunday school or something#at least through this process i learned that larry gelbart was one of the writers of funny thing

I'd say the children of people who shouldn't have had kids.
Still, fully agreed.
we are the daughters of parents who should not have had kids
#my parents were abused like all hell#then gave into the pressure to have children despite having no plan on how to NOT DO THAT#the society they lived in demanded they have children to Be Good People#and then when their first kid overwhelmed them? ... they found a church#that taught them all humans are inherently sinful and we're just running out the clock till judgement day#MA'S PARENTS DIDN'T RAISE HER IN ANY FAITH BECAUSE THEY DISAGREED AND DIDN'T WANNA FIGHT ABOUT IT#grandpa is catholic grandma is lutheran#dad was raised Missori Synod#which is as close as you can get to Roman Catholic while calling yourself a lutheran#they still did corporal pinishment i.e hitting kids in Sunday School#so when mom's mental health got even more difficult to manage with a CHILD TO RAISE and the HORMONAL HELL after delivery#and dad decided the way to fix it was to introduce her to jesus#and then both of them just defaulted into Do As We Say Not As We Do#expecting us to be Glorious Savants in everything we did and NEVER giving us any credit#expecting us to THANK GOD that we met expectations instead of our parents recognizing our efforts#while all wrongdoing was ALWAYS fully OUR fault#no one elses#and misunderstandings got us screamed at for lying#while Ma listened to Rush Limbah on the radio every day from before I was born to the day that hateful fuckwit died#my parents had a chance to break the cycle and heal#and didn't#and passed their traumas on to their kids through NEGLECT and failure to ENGAGE WITH THEIR OWN CIRCUMATANCES AND DO BETTER#inflicted poverty trauma on us despite us being well off by screaming at us whenever we asked for something we didn't capital N Need#but casually financing a fancy new boat for them to go fishing Because They Earned It#inflicted generational trauma by making the same demands as their parents despite telling us exactly how those demands did them harm#enforced gender roles despite ma being the most “traditionally masculine” human being I know#and dad's happy place being in the home cooking and cleaning and supporting the family unit#but dad had the good job so he didn't get to be where he was happy#and ma being denied work and decent wages and blaming it on immigrants instead of grappling with Sexism Still Being A Thing#like... yall got SO close

i think i said this one before but i remember we used to go to church and one day on the way i just out of the blue asked the car "how do we know god is real? what if people just made him up" and the adults all got super mad at me and gave me generic answers like "we just know" and stuff and my ass was fucking CURIOUS so when church started i asked the Sunday School teacher and she was like "well the bible was written about him" or something like that and i was like "but someone wrote Curious George and hes not real, what if someone made him up too" and she was like irritated but was like "he's a talking monkey of course hes not real, children just like fun stories" or something like that and i don't remember exactly what i said but it was something very close to "but adults like stories too! how do you know he's not made up so because adults want to believe in something too?" and she got SUPER mad and i had to apologize in front of the church but i saw an opportunity so i was like "but no one answered me so i still dont know and i guess you guys don't either" and [everyone] got super mad and none of us could go to that church anymore
the adults were okay to go to church again but me and my siblings had sundays off from that point on and that was kind of a catalyst for the way my brother and sister perceived religion

Helping Your Child Cope with the Sunday Scaries
Does your kid dread the start of the school week? Are they fine on Saturday night, but Sunday night sees them worried and whimpering? If so, they might be dealing with the “Sunday Scaries.” The end of the weekend and the start of a new week of school can be a lot for a kid to deal with, and they can easily get overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety and worry. And the Sunday Scaries aren’t just for kids– it’s a pattern of anxious feelings that can impact us grownups, too! So today, let’s take a look at the Sunday Scaries and see how we can help our kiddos overcome them.
Why Is Sunday Scary?
It’s no secret that kids today are feeling more anxious than ever before, and the Sunday Scaries may have something to do with that. But even kids who aren’t normally anxious can still feel a foreboding sense of gloom and doom before going back to school on Monday. Imagine being a kid again to see why. You get home from school on Friday, and because you are a child and time feels stretched out, it seems as if you have a world of freedom ahead of you. The weekend means possibilities; it means freedom and fun. But then, as the sun sets on Sunday, a subtle shift occurs. Suddenly, the carefree atmosphere is tinged with a sense of unease, a knot of anxiety that tightens in your stomach. These are the Sunday Scaries.
For many kids, the Sunday Scaries manifest as a mixture of emotions – anticipation, dread, and apprehension all rolled into one. Monday morning is a looming threat of obligations, responsibilities, and uncertainties. Thoughts swirl in kids’ minds: Will I finish my homework on time? What if I have a test I’m not prepared for? Will my friends still want to play with me?
The Sunday Scaries aren’t just about the academic or social aspects of school; they’re about what school represents. A routine they didn’t choose, learning information they didn’t choose, and not having a choice in leaving home. For a lot of kids, it feels like the weekends are their time– the place where they can express their choices and autonomy. School takes that away from them. For other kids who experience the Sunday Scaries, the problem lies with the separation from the comfort of home and the uncertainty of what lies ahead. Even for the most resilient of children, the transition from the freedom of the weekend to the structure of the school week can be jarring and anxiety-inducing.
Is My Child Dealing with the Sunday Scaries?
Now, it’s important to remember that kids are still learning how to process their emotions and have lots of big feelings about many different things. An upset child on Sunday might not be feeling anxious about school! There’s lots of other things they may be concerned about, like conflict with a friend or sibling.
The best way to find out if your child is going through the Sunday Scaries? Talk to them! Just sit down and have a frank, honest conversation. Start by inviting them to share– think along the lines of “Hey, kiddo! You seem a little anxious. Are you worried about school next week?” Then, actively listen to what they have to say. It might take some time to get them to open up about their big, unsettling feelings, but once they know you’re safe to talk to and understanding, you can start solving the problem together.
Tips For Helping Kids Through the Sunday Scaries
So what can you do to help kids through their anxiety? Here are some of our best tips for talking to kids about school anxiety.
Foster Open Communication About Feelings
Create a supportive environment where your child feels comfortable expressing their feelings. Encourage them to talk about what’s causing their anxiety and validate their emotions without judgment. Kids need reassurance that it’s normal to feel anxious or nervous about returning to school after the weekend. Share your own experiences of dealing with similar emotions and reassure them that they’re not alone.
Build A Fun Routine
Kids thrive on routines, so creating a routine that’s both enjoyable and relaxing can make Sunday night something to look forward to, not to fear. Engage in calming and enjoyable activities on Sundays to help your child unwind and alleviate stress. This could include family movie nights, outdoor adventures, or creative projects that allow them to express themselves. And make sure the routine involves anticipating school! Be sure to include activities such as setting out clothes for the next day, packing school bags, and reviewing schedules. Also make sure that the routine prioritizes self-care. A Sunday night routine should emphasize the importance of getting enough sleep, eating nutritious meals, and engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment.
Create A Support Network
Foster connections with teachers, counselors, and other trusted adults who can offer guidance and support to your child. Knowing that they have someone to turn to can help alleviate anxiety and build resilience. If the Sunday Scaries are really bad, consider seeking guidance from a mental health professional. Therapy can provide tools and strategies tailored to your child’s specific needs. If your child’s anxiety persists or significantly impacts their daily functioning, professional help can make a huge difference.
That’s where we come in! Here at Love Heal Grow, we focus on helping people of all ages explore their emotions and build confidence and resilience. Our solutions to the Sunday Scaries involve compassionate, therapeutic approaches that can resonate with kids of all ages. Schedule with us today if your child is struggling with the Sunday Scaries.
