Neil is constantly shadow boxing with his fear of being Just Like My Father NOT because he fears that Wesninski Blood but because he fears the fragility of choice. Everything he knows how to do, all of his skills, combined with his natural disposition and temperament really do put him on par with his father - potentially even worse than his father if you think Nathan lacks Neil's ability to meticulously execute a long con.

Ruthless. Manipulative. Intelligent. Sneaky n Stealthy. Fast. Quick learner. Violent. Cut throat. Selective empathy. Observant. Skilled with weapons. Crime prodigy. Improv. Etc etc etc - Nathaniel truly is Nathan's son when you look at Capacity. Neil had very good reason to fear that - he really is a Wesninski in more than just name.

He just chooses to be kind. Chooses to care. Chooses Exy and friends and family and Andrew and Love.

But choices are both iron clad foundations and flimsy whisps in the wind

Neil isn't different from his father because of difference in Capacity. Neil is different from his father because of difference in Choices. And "Is that enough?" is such a scary question when it suddenly involves people he dared to care about.

He kept up his defense, unsure whether to believe them having been tricked before. Once they showed something that felt like he was on safe terms and started to calm down, slowly crawling out from his hiding place. More of his rough appearance came into view, his horns were broken off roughly but trying to heal. Bruises and scrapes and thin skeletal frame, which proves he hasn't eaten hardly anything.

“W..who are yous..I don't know where I am. I don't want to be hurt again..”

Nervously looking around as his tail tucked underneath him, not keeping eye contact with the two very long. His stomach growled the familiar feeling of starvation crept up again, looking back at them.

“Do you have any food”

The small child did not know how he wound up here but he wasn't a fan of someone just coming up to him after past events. Hiding somewhere to fit his small frame, he gave a low growl and hissed like a feral animal. He clearly wasn't normal or fully human given his eyes, ears and horns with black skin blotches of shifter vitiligo.

Jin couldn't help the frown as he saw the child squeeze themselves into a small spot. He definitely wouldn't be able to crawl after them considering how tall he was, but he was more upset at how stressed the kid was. Especially considering at the moment he was wearing his human disguise, and this kid was clearly not human.

Who knows what trauma they had.

"Shhh, you're okay." Jin said in a soft voice, lowering himself into a squat. He allowed red scales to appear on his face, as if to show he wasn't what he appeared to be. "You're okay." He turned to glance behind him.

Feliks was giving a concerned look, fidgeting as he glanced between his friend, and past Jin's head to the child.

"We're friends." Jin said.
