UMINEKO: THE NICE LADY WHO READS TO US'S OC BEING GAY WITH CHIESTER 556

Hey folks. Consider: gay.

This is another piece with NezumiVA's "Barbatos" OC. Her Lore(tm) document mentioned Barbatos having "a passing fondness for Chiester 556" and Marcie mentioned her "need to sell people on my stupid OC/Canon yuri lmfao" so we're doing this.

The idea for this piece is that 556 was resurrected in a similar fashion to Sakutarou in the canon story. I'm representing this with the "kintsugi" repair style being done on the "real life" figure of the Rabbit Band member Rosa broke (I'm using the manga for reference). I don't know who did it but you can fill in the blanks. I wanted the energy of this piece to be "what if we were damaged in ways that could never truly be healed from 😳😳😳 but still found safety and comfort in one another 😳😳😳 and we were both girls?"

This has a few unusual aspects to it, the more doodly front image, the faded image of the two behind them, and the background being just a colour, but I think it turned out quite well! Coming up with a design for the "real life" Barbatos was incredibly fun too. Lil birb that needs stitches.

umineko spoilers

I finished umineko a few days ago. I think Chiester 556 is a crystallization of a lot of the heart of Umineko. I can't help but cry when im thinking about her. You dont really get to see her at all until the tips screen in part 4. And I feel like thats when everything for the story clicked for me.

Its interesting because for part 4, if you are taking some anti-fantasy stance to try to solve things, then its pretty easy to slip into some radical doubt about how true everything is. We know that everything off screen isnt necessarily true then. There isnt much to be able to be learned there. And its easy to self reflect basck about how little you knew of things before then.

but then in the tips, it shows her. Its barely anything, but she was lovely. she was loved, she was teased, and she cared for others a lot. She might not have been real. But unlike everything else. we are rendered acutely aware of how little we know, and how little we understand whatever it was. But please. Know that she was a wonderful thing, if nothing else for kindness. And she was the only thing that we never really got to imagine to come back.

Its how little we know about rokkenjima in a microcosm, everything that battler wanted to show ange. Just in that tiny moment. It feels silly but if I think about her, out of all characters in umineko, I can't stop crying.

the Chiester Sisters hair colors are coordinated to the various Truths. 410 has blue hair, 45 has reddish-pink hair, 00 has blonde hair, and 556 (who is dead during Umineko) has purple hair.

We get a bit of an explanation into what caused the Chiester series of weapons to be created in the first place, and some comments about a war between Heaven and Hell.

The sisters started becoming known as sisters because each of their individual abilities allowed them to make p for any other weaknesses.

45 thinks that isn't the case, though... she thinks the only reason 410 is so successful is because she's talented on her own and that 45 isn't strong enough to be able to reign her in. And since she's constantly teasing her and ignoring her instructions 45 asks for a partner change. 410 is really grateful, though, and even when she's boasting she means to praise both herself and 45, but 45, or anyone else doesn't really get that....

410 things that 45 gets her without words so she can tease her and she will get it, but...

Now we move to 556 joining the team and.... I wasn't aware 410 and 45 had a disastrous relationship omg I'm so invested in their relationship now lmao.

Their general dynamic is 410 gets jealous of 556 -> Tries to be mean to her -> 556 always takes it in a good way and tries to improve herself -> 410 gets pissed because she wants to be mean and not help.

Oh... but 556 is the one that's going to die before people can show her how thankful they are for her existence....

410 and 45 seem to be more in sync by the time the game starts, and 410 mentions how much 556 dying destroyed her emotionally at some point, so I guess she's going to realize how needed being honest which is other is at some point.

"Thanks for being born" starts playing, oh my god this is so sad I'm so invested in their relationship in the whole 5 minutes we have had them here.

Episode 5 is going to hit a lot of themes about Battler being too late for Beatrice, so I think this is a good companion piece to drive those themes home. It was some very nice characterization for characters Ia actually don't usually think too much about.

hey i have a question. what if maria didn't take out the forest band. what if rosa didn't smash it. what if siesta 556 was still alive.

Chiester 556′s death didn’t affect how the Chiesters acted.

If you’re wondering about Maria, the real problem for Maria wasn’t the bunny figure being smashed but Sakutarou having his head ripped away for protecting her and since Rosa was in a rage this would have ended up on happening.

If you’re instead wondering what if Maria hadn’t taken the toys around with her (as everything was caused by people telling Rosa that she did and Rosa demanding to see the toys she carried around), well this would have happened only if Maria had been a girl with... let’s say a better life and therefore with less need to have her toys support her psychologically by going around with her.

But this Maria would have been another Maria and not the one we know, and the Rosa who raised her would have probably been another Rosa as well so, while this can be interesting for an AU, in the canon it’s a mooth point.

the way the manga highlights 556 makes it look like the scene kinzo grills the chiesters over their answers to the head riddle sound like 556 was 310s lover..which would fit with the chiester tip actually. its canon now.
