If I had a nickel for every time one half of my cop show OTP broke up with the other because they thought they had to figure out their problems from their past on their own, I'd have two nickels
Which isn't a lot, but it's annoying as heck that it happened twice

this is just my opinion but i think the upstead crazies might seem more in number and more of an issue bc the fandom in general is bigger to begin with. and truthfully your posts seem very victim complex to me about burzek fans, and lumping most of us together is insulting bc even though most of us hated this season, we don’t really bother with your fandom bc we don’t like Adam and kim
I don't really get what you mean about me seeming very victim complex but okay? Probably because I don't use as harsh language maybe? But that's just because that'll be bitchy, and I'm only bitchy back to those who are bitchy first. And because Burzek fans follow me and as much as ridiculous fans in all fandoms including burzek makes me roll my eyes I don't want to potentially isolate my fellow fans who might think they fall into that category. But I still don't pull my punches when criticising and hold them to the same standard I do other fans.
And I'm not lumping most of you together. I've literally repeatedly made a distinction because I want it to be known that I most definitely do not colour everyone with one brush. Because I'm not about that. (And trust me, it can be hard sometimes because sometimes my mind's instinct is to associate upstead fans to the few nasty fans who sent me racist shit because I remember it frequently whenever stuff like this is brought up but I know that was just a few rotten apples and that all of you, even most of the people I think is a tad delusional would chuck them out way before they spoil the barrel and so is unfair to hold their crimes against the majority).
You don't bother my fandom? Okay then you're not the stans I'm critiquing. It's simple as and if you read what I wrote you'd get that. Instead I can only assume, that if you do normally have comprehensive reading skills, that you just skimmed my posts, made this conclusion that I was lumping everyone together and sent this. Which in the future if you're going to send an ask like this, please use critical thinking and actually read everything that is said so that you have a comprehensive idea of what I said. And if you don't want to put that work in on a post written by someone who thinks there's a huge amount of hypocrites in your boring white piece of bread ship fandom then simply don't engage.
But if you do engage, please make sure you're informed.
And if this is on my criticism of upstead fans not liking this season let me make this clear once and for all: it is perfectly fine to not like a season, for whatever reason. I am not disputing that. My criticism was purely about the hypocritical nature of upstead stans -- again I'm using this to mean the crazies that have just exponentially grown since Jesse left-- but never did I assert that they had no right not to like the season.
I'm a big believer in critiquing things. I love doing so, even when during s8 and 9 I was told to get over it by your fellow fans and I truly believe looking at your show under a critical eye is a good and healthy thing (although I don't fault anyone who doesn't). But saying that, I also believe that if you are going to critisize something you can't just go half in, you have to go in all the way. Especially when making broad statements the fans I'm critising are.
And that you need to address your biases. Upstead is your ship and it doesn't matter if I find it baffling, they're your precious babies but if you're going to take a critical eye, you need to address how that may colour your opinion. I do this. I have had a jerk response to something, reexamined it and realised I was looking through the lens of my burzek coloured glasses. I've also reexamined things to make sure my dislike of fans or honest utter bafflement at how upstead fans see their ship as (like it is truly utterly baffling to me. I get it logically obviously but it's just so baffling to hear people describe it as the greatest love story) to make sure that wasn't colouring my views.
That's how your criticise things. And if you don't want to do that, then you can't criticise. And it is more baffling to me that people don't get that, or that people don't realise they don't want to become part of this modern fandom toxicity that unfortunately is getting more and more common.

TV Fanatic: How Kiana Cook’s Addition Revitalizes Intelligence
Tumblr media
Kiana adds to the cohesiveness of the Unit
One of the series’ biggest criticisms for the past few years is how divided the unit has often felt.
While the early seasons saw cohesion, some light humor, and a great deal of mixing and matching in dynamics and character exploration, the more recent seasons have lost much of that.
Kiana blends into this unit effortlessly, and that’s something that rarely happens...
Tumblr media
Chicago PD May Finally Rectify Female Dynamic Issue with “KiKi” (Kim & Kiana) Sisterhood
The series has always had badass female characters, but strong female friendships and dynamics have often been lacking.
Chicago PD may finally deliver on a strong female dynamic, partnership, or friendship between the two women on Intelligence...
Tumblr media
Kiana Cook & Dante Torres Are a New Dynamic Duo that Serves Both Characters Well
With Kiana around, it’s promising that Torres may actually have his own “person.”
They have fantastic chemistry, and through the pairing, we not only learned more about Kiana, but she also pulled out another side of Torres....
Check out all the ways Kiana Cook is an asset to Intelligence! — #LetHerCookđŸ”„

opinions on the one tree hill cast (OG, not whatever trainwreck the reboot will be)?
Hi there!
Not sure if you mean the characters or the actors, so I'll give it my best shot for both.
First, a confession: Never seen One Tree Hill. Bits and pieces, enough to tell me it wasn't for me. My criticism of the reboot is... for a different reason.
But I'm familiar with the actors from other movies and/or television shows. Fairly familiar with Chad Michael Murray--saw him in A Cinderella Story, Freaky Friday, and most recently a hilarious tv commercial when I realized it was him.
Somewhat familiar with Hilarie Burton because of her appearance in White Collar (good gods, the chemistry she had with Matt Bomer, and he's gay!). I thought she was a decent actress, so I was surprised that her career seemed to have puttered off.
I remember seeing Sophia Bush around in gossip columns, largely because of what happened with her marriage with CMM (filed due to fraud, what now?!). I remember seeing clips of her on Chicago PD and thought it was impressive she managed to make her way to mainstream broadcasting.
Those are largely the ones I know (and looking at guest stars, I'm surprised to see familiar names--Joe Manganiello?! James Van Der Beek?? Whaaaa....?).
As for them as actors/people... not much. What little I've caught about Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton make me frown, because what they're doing is largely performative in terms of female empowerment. Chad Michael Murray seems to have moved on in his career, embraced his faith (nothing against, just noting it), and seems content in his life.
The rest, I really don't know much about. Sorry if that didn't answer your question!

Taylor Swift songs as PD characters (part 1)
While I am a fan of Taylor Swift, I also only know about thirty of her songs so while others might relate to them better I'm just using the ones I know. And it's only my opinion of course!
This post has spoilers for Chicago PD so read at your own risk.
Cassandra: Sheldon Jin. This song is so Jin. Like literally him being killed when Edwin Stillwell found out he was talking to Hank, this song is him. These lines specifically
"So, they killed Cassandra first 'cause she feared the worst
And tried to tell the town"
My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys: Hailey after Jay left 💀
Robin: Any of them to their kids (Alvin to Lexi and Michelle, Antonio to Eva and Diego, Adam and Kim to Makayla, Kevin to Vinessa and Jordan, Hank to Justin and Erin, etc)
thanK you aIMee: The one season 1 episode where Erin bumps into her old "friends" from highschool. Erin to those bitches
loml: Hank to Al. Even if you don't ship them romantically, it still fits them especially the whole last paragraph of the song
"Oh, what a valiant roar
What a bland goodbye
The coward claimed he was a lion
I'm combing through the braids of lies
"I'll never leave" ...
"Never mind"
Our field of dreams, engulfed in fire
Your arson's match your somber eyes
And I'll still see it until I die
You're the loss of my life"
The Bolter: ADAM. Especially early seasons Adam and his fear of commitment.
The Man: Erin, season 4 Kim, Hailey when she first joined
I hate it here: Mouse, 100% Mouse
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart: Erin
So Long, London: Season 5 Al and Hank... Al quite literally had a white knuckle dying grip, them keeping what was happening with Denny Woods between them, the team (Antonio) resenting Hank especially when Al was arrested.
And you say I abandoned the ship
But I was going down with it
My white knuckle dying grip
Holding tight to your quiet resentment and
My friends said it isn't right to be scared
The Prophecy: This seems very Hank after losing Camille. This song is them ESPECIALLY after 3x10 and Hank finding out that it wasn't the cancer that killed Camille and maybe thing could've been different.
Clara Bow: Adam after Al died. Adam being so similar to Al after being trained by him and similar as a cop (and person)
The Black Dog: Hailey after leaving Intelligence after 6 years following Jay abandoning her
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived: DENNY WOODS. I take no criticism.
Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?: Season 5 Al. Again I take no criticism.
I'll do a part two at some point since despite this taking me longer than I thought, it was a lot of fun.

Mutt 2023
Fena, a young trans guy bustling through life in New York City, is afflicted with an incessantly challenging day that resurrects ghosts from his past. Laundromats, subway turnstiles, and airport transfers are the hectic background to this emotional drama that overlaps past, present, and future. Settling the disharmony of transitional upheaval in relationships familial, romantic, and platonic is Fena2s task at hand, and his resulting juggling act is equal parts skillful, fumbling, and honest. In negotiating his obliqueness, the poignant moments he finds between himself and others as the distance between them closes are warm, true, and touching
Q&A with MUTT Filmmaker Vuk Lungulov-Klotz and Stars LĂo Mehiel, Cole Doman & MiMi Ryder
Chilean and Serbian immigrants, he was raised between Chile, the US, and Serbia. As a transgender storyteller, he hopes to expand queer narratives. His work focuses on intimate moments we often miss if we're not looking. Mutt is his debut feature film. With his feature film script, MUTT, he is an alum of the Sundance Institute Labs, the Inside Out Financing Forum, and was a top five finalist for the Tribeca / AT&T Untold Stories Grant. His award winning trans-themed short film, "Still Liam," played at festivals internationally and earned the attention of celebrated queer filmmakers Ira Sachs and Silas Howard, who have both become mentors. Vuk is also an alum of the Ryan Murphy HALF Initiative Program, where he completed a mentorship under director Janet Mock on the FX series POSE. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
Tumblr media
Lío Mehiel is a Puerto Rican and Greek artist, actor, and filmmaker. Their work spans film, television, multimedia installation, theater, and events. They are fascinated by the inherent contradiction of the trans experience — one deeply rooted in the body while also transcending beyond the body. Lío began their career as a professional salsa dancer and child actor on Broadway. They can now be seen on shows like WeCrashed (Apple+) and Tales of the City (Netflix). MUTT is their feature film debut. As a filmmaker, Lío produced Chaperone, a queer short film which premiered at Sundance 2022. They wrote, directed, produced, and starred in Disforia, a short film which premiered at Outfest Film Festival in 2018. They are now stuck inside of a psychomagic act with this story as they write the feature script version and confront their own medical transition. As an installation artist, their immersive piece Arcade Amerikana was included in the list of 10 Best Immersive Shows in NYC by Time Out and GOTHAMIST. Lío is currently the producer and creative director of Angels, a developing collection of stone sculptures of transgender humans. The works were first featured as part of a pop-up installation at Outfest LA in 2022, and will be debuted in full at SIZED Gallery LA in 2023. Lío is a co-founder of Voyeur Productions with Russell Kahn and Dulcinee DeGuere. They attended Northwestern University, and are an alumni of the Emerge NYC residency program for artists and activists. Photo credit: Jordan Rossi
Cole Doman is a trained stage and film actor living in Brooklyn, NY. During his time in Chicago, he studied at the School at Steppenwolf under Amy Morton, Tarell Alvin McCraney, Michael Patrick Thornton, and more. Chris Jones of the Chicago Tribune named Cole among the "Hot New Faces of Chicago Theater" in 2016. He made his film debut as the titular role in the critically acclaimed HENRY GAMBLE'S BIRTHDAY PARTY directed by Stephen Cone. He has profiles with IndieWire, Brooklyn Magazine, OUT, Milk.xyz, and was featured as one of "Best Breakout Performances of 2016" by The Film Stage. He can also be seen in Alan Ball's UNCLE FRANK (Sundance 2020, Amazon Studios) as young Frank Bledsoe played by Paul Bettany. On television he has appeared in Let the Right One In, Gossip Girl, Modern Family, Law & Order: SVU, Chicago PD, Equal, and Shameless. He developed & stars in the short film Starfuckers (MUBI) directed by Antonio Marziale which was presented in competition at Sundance Film Festival, Berlinale, and Telluride Film Festival. Other forthcoming films include: Matt Fifer’s sophomore feature TREATMENT for AMC’s Shudder and Zia Anger’s debut feature MY FIRST FILM for MUBI. Mostrecently, he starred in the world premiere of Your Own Personal Exegesis by Julia May Jonas at Lincoln Center Theatre, directed by Annie Tippe, for which his performance was lauded by The New York Times and even cartooned by The New Yorker.

Was Rick Eid fired from PD?
Well this isn't what I expected to see in my inbox this evening 😂
No, not at all. Rick Eid is still a trusted showrunner in the Wolf universe and the show performed very well under his leadership both in ratings and critically. The documented reason he left Chicago PD was to focus on showrunning FBI and Law & Order. There may always be unreported reasons these shifts happen (budgetary, strategy, etc. not necessarily anything negative) but that does not translate to being fired. He is still, by professional accounts, a very successful and powerful dude.

Hard agree with the above, couldn't have said it better myself. I think the other side of this (coming at it from a "what even is copaganda" direction), is that copaganda is not "media with a cop you like in it." Copaganda is a hundred year long effort in creating a genre known as "procedurals" that attempt to shape the public's perception- on current crime issues, solutions to those issues, and their assumptions about police officers and how likely they are to discriminate on the basis of race- in a way that benefits the police.
Wikipedia:
Copaganda (a portmanteau of cop and propaganda) is propaganda efforts to shape public opinion about police or counter criticism of police and anti-police sentiment.[1][2]
[Source 1]
https://www.dailydot.com/irl/cop-viral-videos/
^ The daily dot article is about viral videos where actual real life cops dance and other bullshit to counter BLM protests.
[Source 2]
https://jacobin.com/2022/07/copaganda-police-propaganda-public-relations-pr-communications
^ Detailed article on how copaganda in journalism and other media functions in a society to distance police from their actual human rights violations in real life. Brief summary:
1. "it narrows our understanding of safety. Police get us to focus on crimes committed by the poorest, most vulnerable people in our society and not on bigger threats to our safety caused by people with wealth and power.
2. "manufacture crises or 'crime surges.' For example, if you watch the news, you’ve probably been bombarded with stories about the rise of retail theft. Yet the actual data shows there has been no significant increase. Instead, corporate retailers, police, and PR firms fabricated talking points and fed them to the media. The same is true of what the FBI categorizes as 'violent crime.' All told, major 'index crimes' tracked by the FBI are at nearly forty-year lows."
3. "The third and most pernicious function of copaganda is to manipulate our understanding of what solutions actually work to make us safer. A primary goal of copaganda is to convince the public to spend even more money on police and prisons. If safety is defined by street crime, and street crime is dangerously high, then funding the carceral state leaps out to many people as a natural solution."
Wikipedia:
Fictional depictions of police, especially in police procedurals and legal dramas, have been criticized for portraying police as infallible heroes and reinforcing misconceptions about crime rates, minority groups, and police misconduct. [3][4]

^ Historical background on the creation of the police procedural to counter the early 1900s perception of cops as a corrupt gang and transform cop tropes into heroic protagonists (both inside and outside the system). Includes the reasons (protections of stars, and shooting permits for filming) and the beginnings of self-censorship in media by creators (particularly of TV shows and movies).
[Source 4]
https://www.chicagotribune.com/2020/02/13/do-cop-shows-like-chicago-pd-reinforce-misperceptions-about-race-and-criminal-justice-a-new-study-says-yes/
^ Article about a study on how cop shows influence how people perceive the police, crime, and public policy.
"'For the past 20 years in this country violent crime has steadily gone down,' he said, 'but if you ask most Americans, in Pew polls and others, they believe violent crime is going up. So we know there is a gap between perception and reality. And we know that what people think about the system — in terms of whether it’s working or not — plays into what type of reforms they believe are viable.'"
"The report found that crime shows imply 'justice gets done because the rules get broken, that abuse and harm are rare, that racial bias and systemic racism do not exist and that current police methods keep people safe and are necessary for solving crime.'"
'"They reinforce people’s perceptions that it’s OK for police officers to violate civil liberties left and right,' she said. 'And that’s what made me stop
. You’ll see a cop on TV use excessive force and we know that’s the real deal — but then they don’t challenge it, they just show it like it’s no problem.'"
"According to the report from Color of Change, almost all cop shows convey the impression that change isn’t needed."
Articles not paywalled.
If anything, discworld sows hatred and distrust of real life cops, provides critique of the current system for violence against the vulnerable and protection of the rich, explicitly demands reform and accountability, and focuses entirely on reform that excludes increased funding. It absolutely features the mob-like qualities that cops hated in the early 1900s for making them into a joke (pre-vimes reform). Discworld is a book series and has no tied up interests in shooting permits, so no obvious external pressures to provide a favorable impression of police. Terry Pratchett himself is not conservative- and his books frequently portray his progressive beliefs on the side of the lower classes and marginalized people writ large, as well as in many night watch arcs specifically.
There are even criticisms in discworld that don't even touch on common tenants of copaganda, like how police have a responsibility to their communities even at their own self sacrifice in order to prevent harm through their policing and the importance of rejection of praise and distinction for police work. After reading night watch books readers are incentivized to believe things that argue against funding and for stricter regulations. Discworld is, in many ways, the antithesis of copaganda- probably because discworld is fundamentally satire and copaganda is a trope that still persists in fantasy settings.
So, to echo the above:
I would also love to see some elaboration.
The gun is cocked. I'm sobbing and shaking.
"Say it."
"I can't!"
They push the gun into my temple. "Say it now."
"ACAB includes Sam Vimes, OK, are you happy now?"

Currently trying to think of things to do here to try and jumpstart rp again whilst also working on the rebooted muse list over at @vocesincaput.
I have muses there from: Turn: Washington's Spies, Hornblower, Age Of Sail, Our Flag Means Death, Assassin's Creed (various games), Doctor Who (15th Doctor, Rogue, Ian Chesterton & The Corsair), Good Omens, Sherlock Holmes (Movie John Watson). I might also put my Critical Role muses back on there, but I'm not 100% certain yet.
I really do want to get things going on here though.
Rafael is present like crazy in my mind and I'm really getting intrigued by the idea of him either interacting with muses from Chicago PD/Fire/Med whilst he's in New York. Or him moving to Chicago for some reason.
My other muses here are of course open as well.

Sophia is the absolute trashiest human on the planet right now. Imagine telling a story about pursuing a woman, so freshly split from her ex wife, that the ex didn't even know it was officially over. And then you laugh and say, oh, I thought you were happy. What kind of self respecting person would be okay with encouraging someone to leave a marriage with two babies at home and a wife going through multiple life transitions? Wouldn't most emotionally mature people say, hey, you know what- we dig each other, but you've got a lot going on right now. Go figure out your situation, and if you're truly done with your marriage, come find me in a few months. But we know she's got the emotional IQ of a teenager. It's mind blowing you can continue to support this woman. She's showing you who she is- believe her!
Honestly, it's bold of you to say something so stupid when we have the Orange Cheetos and Netanyahu alive and well. Even if there was cheating, cause again, we don't know the full story, it's non sense to call someone trashy cause this. You are just as childish as they are acting right now cause we don't even know these people. It's why I keep saying I am following this as a soap opera and as if they are fictional badly written characters, cause what we saw so far are just grain of salt all these people want to share with the world.
Also it will need a lot more than a cheating for me to hate and stop supporting Sophia Bush. I am here since the 2000s, and let me tell you, I might have my critics, but I now I love her even more now that she stopped pretending she was little miss perfection, and she is now showing the Italian troublemaker from New Jersey that I knew she had deep down since her days in Chicago PD.
Besides if it was Ali in Ashlyn's shoes, I really doubt you guys would be so piss, in fact, you guys would be praising her cause the truth is soccer world never really liked Ashlyn anyways. It's why I don't get this fixation you guys have on her and Sophia.

“Stans say Jay would never, but sometimes you think you've learnt from your past mistakes and then something happens and you regress again-- everyone thinks they're moving forward until they're not.”
ok so if marina wanted to leave show and sigan wrote her character exit how she wrote jay’s exit. something traumatic happens to kim again, she push adam away again, she tell adam her and mack are going away for few months, then suddenly she shut adam out and stop responding to his calls. all of this would be in character for kim. would you be oh so understanding of sigan’s choices then? no you wouldnt. its only easy to when its not your ship. you all hated rick eid for fucking with your ship. why is it wrong for us to do same with gwen? we know jesse wanted to leave but she had choice to keep them happy married off screen. maybe put him in charge of another unit. or have them be in long distance happy marriage. if military couples can do it upstead can too!
Lmao I love how you clearly sent this me thinking it would be a gotcha but like... Yeah. I would still be understanding of Sigan's choices. Like it's literally laughable that you read what I wrote and still thought I wouldn't.
And yeah, it's easy to not be upset when it's my ship. And I would be deeply upset at that ending for Burzek because that's not how they deserve to end. But I wouldn't unfairly put that on Sigan, or get so distorted from reality that I'd think that one decision makes her a bad showrunner.
Also "it's only easy to when it's not your ship"... You say that like this is the only show I've ever watched. I know to be understanding because, fancy this, I've been through this with other shows. And I've got enough sense to know that an acting leaving when the show is still active often means these kinds of exits because the writers only really have a limited amount of options-- especially for a show like this where they don't have a contained amount of seasons they want and that's it.
It's also deeply naĂŻve to expect them to keep them happily married off screen. If the characters personal life wasn't a part of the plot, maybe that would be more realistic but it is a plot point. And they potentially want this show to run indefinitely, so to keep them off screen is a LOT. Now look, if I was in charge of the show, and had the power to do so, and I saw in upstead what y'all see, I would've kept them long distance happily married off screen because I'm a huge believer of that's possible and could be done. But that's not how the producers and creators and writers of this show actually roll, which is what you stans don't understand.
Now I'm not saying you can't be upset. You can. I've said that all this time. You can feel sad that this is how your ship ends, especially if you see their relationship as iconic or whatever. If say either Marina or Paddy left, that would be me done with the show and it would forever leave an ache in my heart.
My criticism is just purely about the hypocrisy and the fact that you think Sigan doing her job and actually doing it quite well is...her not? Especially because even if we say agree she fumbled upstead, that's one part of the show and in all other areas she's killing it. That doesn't mean she isn't qualified, that just means in one area she lacks.
It's also like, it could've been so much worse. Like with what she had to play with, Jay/Jesse/Upstead got a good exit. Unexpected detour from the pre outline for the evolution of his character if he had stayed maybe, but the best of the options they could've gone with.
Finally "if military couples can do it, upstead can"... No one is saying long distance is unrealistic. The difference is military couples are real, upstead is a fictional ship which is unfortunately controlled by the whim of multiple out of show factors.
Also fuck off with the comparison of Sigan to Eid. As a svu and burzek fan đŸ–•đŸœ

My #1 post of 2022
Will: Oh, here’s my award for the most rules broken! Connor: That’s not an award, it’s an angry letter from our boss. Will, hanging it on their wall: Well, it has the word ‘most’ in it, so I’m calling it an award!
