About the Players:

Pokémon Violet is being played by one-half of a dynamic duo (Taz/Trina of tazsaintsart) while Pokémon Sword is being played by the other half (Hope, aka gleaming_hope). Since our respective games are new to us, and we wanted to share our thoughts and quips and feelings on these games through the eyes of our youngest characters, Alex and Max. Additionally, we have the support of our friends Dia (@diamondphantom) and Alyss (@calicowitchling) who are assisting Taz with filling in character tones on story posts~!

FAQ:

Q: Is there a set posting schedule? A: Hell no. Making a schedule and deadlines is the quickest way to destroy my motivation to draw. The pressure turns into anxiety which turns into guilt which turns into shame and then nobody gets anything fun anymore.

Q: Sword's old! Why would you include it? A: Because it's new to Hope (OP's husbando) and he has his own quirky sense of humour worth sharing too. Besides, it means more story posts for you and I feel it's a great counterbalance to the story of Violet.

Q: Will you include the DLC? A: Eventually! Gotta' finish the main story first!

Q: Is it just me, or is the scaling/heights between characters a bit wonky? A: It's not you! The in-game player charas skewed my perception so it took me a while to figure out character heights that I could use consistently, so Alex might seem shorter than he should be in earlier posts, while Max was a bit bigger than he was meant to be.

Q: What's this 'Lato' thing I keep seeing mentioned? A: Lato is a fan region based on Poland, created by this blog's art assistant @diamondphantom~ In Alex's canon/backstory, he had a particularly lengthy school trip through the region four years prior to Paldea. It doesn't really affect the current story beyond showing that Alex has had a significant mood shift in the four years since the school trip.

Q: Will you draw '_____'? A: Maybe, maybe not! Aside from a set motivation for the boys, posts will just be whatever we feel like sharing.

Q: Can I suggest ideas, or submit my own work to this blog? A: The Ask and Submissions boxes are open for this very reason! When I think I truly started to like them (or dislike them, if you've sent me a character I don't like) — When she beat up all the guards on the way to Tenshukaku I realised this is a woman with, first, a deep sense of ethics and justice, and two, a single braincell located somewhere in her fists.

4. I ship Sara with the 'usual':

Kokosara for either the enemies-to-lovers or the enemies-and-Kokomi-was-one-step-ahead vibes.

Puppet Shogun x Sara (fic recs) because they're both creatures of war who have no idea how they are supposed to fit into benevolent peacetime society. And they trust each other. And it's beautiful.

Eisara because they share a single braincell between them and Yae is chewing on it.

Yaesara because Miko can hardly have a harem without a second lover doofus sub, y'know?

I aesthetically appreciate the idea of Ittosara: they have Bi Energy, they have aromantic allosexual potential, they have QPR potential, they have kismesis/hateship potential, they are dumbass rivals who would hate the idea of being into one another (cute yt animation, CW: musical number). But most—not all—of the Ittosara I've come across just feels too het for me to get into :(

(Ayasara is a little too jointly emotionally repressed for me to feel much of anything about.)

16. A childhood headcanon: she hatched out of an egg as a chibi Sara in full uniform.

Kamaji and Masahito were, and are, great brothers, having been young enough to take their father literally when he said to treat her as a daughter of the clan. There were several accidents involving 'wing gliding' and childish optimism about weight to air resistance ratios.

Sara and Masahito still give Kamaji shit for his inability to slice a training dummy in half. (They're still extremely confused about last month when their brother sent several companies of soldiers to Ritou to kidnap his fiancee. Didn't think Kamaji had it in him to start a civil war!)

21. When do you think they were at their happiest? For Sara? Today. Her life has never been wonderful, but as of late, each day has been better than the last.

22. When do you think they were at their lowest? When she briefly regained consciousness in an empty Tenshukaku, in an audience chamber that looked like it had been hit by a blizzard and a forest fire, and she felt like she'd failed everyone in every possible way. She lost consciousness again shortly after.

After the heartache of the Volume 8 finale, I would like to return to a happier point in the show and suggest some memes/jokes that I like to think the students at Beacon would have had. More closely inline with the RWBY Chibi-verse, than the actual show - where Nothing Bad Ever Happened.

"Who's child is this?" being used to refer to Ruby - the youngest student at Beacon - when she's left unsupervised and/or doing something odd.

"I'd let Glynda punish/whip me for one corn chip."

Every now and again "Missing - Have you seen this person?" posters for Professor Peach will pop up around campus. No one knows who it is that keeps making them.

Vomit Boy candids being taken and shared any time Jaune is Suffering™️ on some form of transport.

The Great One plush of Pyrrha exists in-universe... and becomes the go-to prize for any stupid competition between the students. There's at least a dozen of these dolls on campus now, owned by various people and won as "spoils of war."

There's a dedicated chalkboard in the combat room for tallying how many times Nora has launched someone into the stratosphere. Notable mentions are listed on the board alongside her of other people who have achieved this feat - including Yang, Yatsuhashi, and Glynda.

(She launched both Port and Oobleck one day when they kept annoying her. Sometimes, their screams can still be heard if you listen closely enough.)

"There's that old guy again..." "Oh, shopkeep? Yea, he's everywhere. Don't think too much about it."

This leads to "Don't think too much about it." becoming something of a slogan for every time anything unusual happens.

"Candy canes, kids! One for Sun Wukong, one for Yang Xiao-Long, ooh four for Coco Adel, you go Coco!"

Team STRQ having something akin to legend status at Beacon, whispered in hushed voices for fear and reverence of their names. There's a war between the students regarding team JNPR as their successors vs. the students who insist JNPR are not anywhere near worthy of such a title.

"How many team CRDLs does it take to beat Pyrrha?"

Blurry fancam-style videos of the Qrow vs. Winter fight out in the courtyard being traded around like baseball cards with other students. Some try and manufacture a "rematch" of this with the materials they've got - trying to get Ruby and Weiss to fight each other. 

That weird sing-song "HellOooOo~" that Yang sometimes does being mimicked by everyone. And I mean everyone.

Any time there's a significant lull in conversations or classes, someone often asks "Why are we here?" which never fails to make everyone in the vicinity groan.

"Ozpin is compensating for something" jokes about his office chair - including at least one popular response being "it's the war crimes", without them knowing just how accurate they actually are.

"On a scale of Ren-Nora, how excited do you want me to be?"

"Ladies Love Lavender" referring to Lisa Lavender having her own in-universe fandom mostly comprised of women. (Lavender being associated with lesbians irl, and I just think this would be funny.)

The sight of Ren just picking up and carrying Nora away from something is so commonplace that other people start doing it to their friends when they Need To Stop.

"Why is Blake's bow so big?" "Because it's full of secrets."

Blake being a closet faunus being such a poorly hidden secret that by the time she finally takes off the bow no one actually even notices. 

The betting pool surrounding exactly what it is in Ozpin's cup - coffee being one of the least popular options, and souls being the top choice.

Using Yatsuhasi as a unit of measurement. 

Photoshopping adorable images of Velvet onto various "cute" animal memes.

Everyone wanting to be spanked by Coco Adel. 

"I'd let Fox blow me up too."

"Why is Weiss' hair so long?" "To reflect the length of her father's crimes."

Everyone mimicking Pyrrha's memetic "I'm sorry!" anytime they apologise for anything. Even going as far to do it while apologising to things that don't require apologies - like inanimate objects.

"Are Port and Oobleck, you know... 💅?"

In fact, just that 💅 being used to refer to a large number of people at Beacon. Actual LGBT students picking this up and using it towards grimm when they're attacked to question the sexuality/homophobia of the grimm targeting them over their peers.

Threatening Neptune with water anytime he flirts with a girl who is clearly Not Interested in him.

No one knowing who, exactly, the other two members of team SSSN are - with wild theories abounding about who they may be. Popular choices include Shopkeep, Zwei, and Professor Peach.

This persists even after their tournament fights where they're shown. Scarlet and Sage are perfectly content with this, and participate.

"Arslan's/Pyrrha's back must be aching from constantly carrying her entire team."

And the respective responses of, "Reese/Nora are alright."

Similar jokes about Glynda also carrying the entire faculty/academy on her back.

"Salutations!"

The war between the "Irondaddy" fanbase, and his haters - who refer to him with various derogatory versions of his name. "Metalpenis", "Coppercock", "Chromeshaft", etc.

Anytime someone is doing something ~questionable~ donning a pair of glasses and/or imitating Oz or Oobleck pushing them back up their nose with accompanying menacing body language. (Kubrick Stare optional.)

Mercury having a foot fetish, courtesy of the people who caught him sniffing shoes at the festival.

"Did <character> just die?" "You know, it was really unclear." any time someone takes some insane damage in a fight and isn't seen for some time afterwards.

Everyone trying to locate and get a pic of the ~mysterious~ fourth member of team CMSN, who has only ever been spotted once - her tournament fight in the first round. Beacon's version of "Where's Wally?"

The Sympathy Fund for Emerald and her one-sided crush on Cinder. "She could honestly do so much better."

People offering themselves up as tribute to spar with Pyrrha/Yang/Coco/Sun just so they can be beaten up by the hottest people on campus.

"I drink milk!" being used as a defensive argument in wildly inappropriate contexts.

Naming grimm really boring names and attempting to keep them as pets. 

The innumerous times Port has allowed a "zoo-break" to happen under his watch and everyone having to assist in recovering his prized subjects.

"Where the fuck are all the fourth years?" "Ozpin's soul collection."

Candid shots of Glynda Suffering™️ being shared similarly to the ones of Vomit Boy.

Ranking people based on their Patience Levels - Pyrrha, Ren, Glynda, Emerald, and Fox being frequent top markers based on the bullshit they put up with from their respective teams.

"Saint Pyrrha" being a common nickname for her, and her neverending niceness towards people who absolutely do not not deserve it.

Weiss' "Hey!" being replicated amongst the student body and slowly growing more and more high-pitched in its replication until it eventually just becomes a shrill noise. Even so, everyone still knows what it means - and Weiss is absolutely unamused by all of this.

In fact, a lot of early!Weiss' comments being mercilessly mocked by everyone - "I'm a victim!" being one of them.

Renowned fear permitting amongst the student body regarding Yang's red eyes meaning Serious Business. Morphs into references of "going full Yang" to mean having rage-fuelled temper tantrums.

"Never miss a beat, never miss a beat" becoming a mantra for focusing on a task. This inspires several remixes of Neon saying it, and again with no one knowing who it is making them.

By all means, feel free to add any more that you all think of! I could use a laugh!

Melkor thought he’d only be a mild nuisance for once and swiped one of Aulë’s assistant’s many crafts (he had so many lying about how could he ever miss just one?) but he underestimated Mairon’s ability to notice something out of place and track down the culprit, relentlessly. The only thing more relentless was Melkor’s pursuit of recruiting him (among other things), after he’d seen what the Maia was capable of.

Where can people find your art?/Support you?

I'm only on Tumblr! @mlim8 (I tried getting a Twitter but I got confused so it's an account in limbo~). My Wolfstar/HP Masterlist is here (links only work on mobile)

What's your favorite thing about Remus & Sirius?

I'm a biggggg sucker for the 'childhood friends' trope. As well as pairings that scream mutual pining, but on the other hand, can be pure fluff. I like pairings where the couple can play off each other, can support each other, who might not always see eye-to-eye but have also been with the other for so long now, they know what they’re doing to make sure they still work, because in the end, they LOVE EACH OTHER. Somehow, Remus and Sirius can tick off all these different boxes and I love them for it uwu And then, there’s also just so much mystery about them in the books and therefore, so much freedom to interpret them, given how little we actually have to go on - it’s so cool to see them in an assortment of AUs, tropes, canon, non-canon fics and see them fall in love over and over and over again… So ultimately? I guess my favourite thing is that it’s so damn obvious how in love they are with one another that the Wolfstar fandom is as big as it is :)

What do you think your signature style is?

I think I’m known for fanfic comics, cute fluff, and my chibi style. You will also see a blush on my characters’ cheeks like 98.9% of the time. I can’t help it… it belongs there lol

What inspires you?

Fanfics, usually. I actually came back to drawing on tumblr because of some beautiful fanfics that I couldn’t get out of my head and needed to draw them. Afterward, it would be songs, videos, memes, conversations with friends, posts from friends, etc - it’s not difficult to take something and go “Do it again, but as Wolfstar.”

What advice would you give new artists?

I guess some obvious ones would be to practice, practice, practice. Use references and 3D models, they help so damn much. Video tutorials and other art tutorials are there to help you make things easier, there really is an endless pit of things to learn and techniques to master. Some other things that people might forget: drink water, do stretches for your wrists and neck, get up once in a while to get blood flow in your legs. But most importantly, even if you want to practice a lot, don’t forget to TAKE. BREAKS. Your body and mind will thank you.

You also don’t need anything super fancy to draw: traditional art is just as valid as any digital art (more so because you don’t have a CTRL+Z function and it drives me insane, so power to you!!). Cheaper $50 art tablets can do what you need them to, as long as you know how to use it. With art programs, there are tons of free ones that you can get your feet wet before committing to any expensive programs (I’ve used Paint Tool SAI for years in the past and I know artists that use FireAlpaca and GIMP with amazing results as well :D)

Lastly, and this is gonna be a hard one: Don’t compare yourself (or your progress) to other artists. People take years (decades??) to make art that they love and develop a style/technique that they’re proud of and it’s not worth the stress. You’re only in a competition with yourself and that’s challenging enough already!

I use a Wacom Bamboo Fun Pen & Touch - it was a birthday gift from waaaay back that I’ve had for a decade now :’)

What's a favorite piece you made and why?

Oh my God, how to decide… there’s been a ton that I’ve been proud of but my favourite (spelling with a u because I’m Canadian, eh) would be the recent Candy Heart Post I did a couple weeks back now. Just a lot of love and effort went into it, not just the art itself but trimming the song, all the editing and timing of each frame. I wanted so hard to tell a story and I think it came out the way I wanted it to :)

Pick one of your own pieces/AUs and give readers a little note about it. What inspired it? Why is it a favorite?

Okay, so this is probably an obvious one for those that have been on my blog for the last few months - but I have an AU called ‘Rembus and Hunter AU’ that is about an incubus demon, Remus, and a Demon Hunter, Sirius. The demon, affectionately called Rembus, is surprisingly sweet and adorable. In short: HE IS BABY. And when Hunter comes to the Village of Gryffindor to get rid of him, he learns that there’s more to demons than he’s known through the church and his family.

It’s just a really stupidly cute AU, despite the premise, and I’m so excited to share their story with everyone (one day, haha I’m a slow artist -)! Here’s Part 0 (the info card), if anyone is interested :)

It was created when I came upon an outfit ( similar to what Rembus wears) and thought “Okay, but Incubus!Remus.” - and that’s it. That’s usually how my AUs come about. The smallest inspiration and I spiral out of control with a backstory. This AU was fleshed out a lot with the help of Whippy, who was great to bounce all these ridiculous ideas off of lol

-Main Story tab: Prologue to the end of Chapter 4, "Once More with feelings"

-Then, Event tab: From Alex In Wonderland to Valentine's Magic (so, 19 events)

Then, Act Two: -Chapter 5 from the Main Story Tab -One Day Princess from the Event Tab -Chapter 6 from the Main Story Tab -A Springtime Snooze from the Event Tab -Chapter 7 of the Main Story Tab -Conquering Misohiosa Island! From the Event Tab -Chapter 8 of the Main Story Tab -And from then all the remaining event

Worth navigating in the archive, this is more "bonus" content compared to the rest but good to know still, but it's not something you need to pressure yourself to read:

-You can read all of the Cash Game Chat tab whenever you feel like it for everyone except the rookies (so, Chikage, Kumon, Azami and Guy). This was a mini game with very short but cute interraction between every duo of the cast, which was implanted at the start of the game and therefore were accessible regardless of your advancement in the story. They're very short and very cute little way to get to know the characters. The Rookies's chats however tend to involve spoilers for their respective chapters, so don't read them until you reached act 2.

-You can read the entirety of the "Others" tab after you finished Chapter 4: Once More, with feelings. The "Others" tab are stories that are shared between the base SSR of each characters. Example, if you get Sakuya's OR Tasuku's base SSR, you could unlock a story between Sakuya and Tasuku in this tab. They're all set right after Chapter 4 ends so they're free to read there.

-The Plays tab: So basically for every single play that is being set on by the story, there is a chibi animation of the play in question that was unlockable. It's accessible in the "plays" tab, and therefore recommended to watch after you watched the play in the story itself (ex: once the Romeo and Julius arc ends, you can go in this tab to watch the Romeo and Julius play)

On a fun note: in the archive it will show you the characters in their costumes doing the play. In game, we needed to collect the cards of the characters to do just that, but we could watch the plays with any cards. So we used to make meme like having the innocent character from summer playing the role of the thug saying "fuck" every two second in an Autumn play. it was a delight.

-Mini Chat and Backstage are going to be a little tricky to explain

-Mini Chat unlocked when you would grind the gameplay quests linked to each plays or event that aren't play related. It's generally the characters reflecting on their roles in the play, and telling random anecdotes about their playmates.

Therefore it generally involves the main cast of the events: for the play events, it's the full troupe (so, for Spring, you will want to check the mini chat for each character in Spring). for mixed troupe events, it can be a little trickier but i have a tip further down.

Therefore if you want to read them, read them at the same time or after the stories they're related to. For example: Reading Romeo and Julius's mini chats at the time you read the first Spring Chapter. Each mini chat is named after the event it happened into, for the plays it's a bit obvious, but for the story events where the troupes are generally mixed it can be confusing which tab to check (but, again, i'll give some pointers a little further down) (The first link in every character's list is linked to a special grinding quest from the early game, so, once again, except for the rookies, they're accessible when you start the game)

-The Backstage stories are basically the stories linked to the various cards you can get frrom gacha and event. They're mostly bonus content, some of them are pretty fun, so, it's no obligation, but if you want to dig deeper…

The two first N, The two first R, the First SR "About To Bloom" and the First SSRR from each character list (once again except for the rookies), were accessible as you started the game so you can read them whenever you want, though ideally since you will see the whole cast in them, after the end of chapter 4 of the main story is ideal. Once again for the Rookies: theirs will spoil their Act 2 stories, so only read the rookie's card once you're done with their respective chapters.

For the rest of the cards: they're linked to the events. It's a bit tricky to explain the logic of each of them SO INSTEAD we'll do it more easily like this: use this link: https://yaycupcake.com/a3/index.php?title=EN_Events

It will show you every single event in order, just start from the 2019 tab. On the list itself, it only shows half the cards. so, for each event, click on the name of the event, it will bring you on a page that will show you the full list of cards available On there you can click on each of the card and it will tell you the name of the cards. For the N it's usually the name of the play, for the rest, it's usually names linked to the stories of the cards themselves.

The name of the cards listed should be the fantranslation ones so you just need to figure it out with Character + Rarity of the card + general timeline on the list + Closest Similar translation.

For events that are mixed troupes, for example: Operation CampFire Bonds, clicking on the event page will bring you on all the infos about this event, including, once you scroll, which are the characters with Mini Chat. That way you can check back in the archive which character's minichat is linked to each event.

It seems a bit tricky like that but like i said: you can neglect those tabs, those are bonus content, i'm just telling you how to efficiently navigating them if you want the full experience down the line.

Oh and another thing: the songs:

this spotify playlist have all the songs, sorted by troupes and then in chronological orders.

But a good way to navigate them easily is the Jukebox page on the wiki.

Basically everytime we used to clear some quests, we would unlock a short version of the song linked to the quests that we could play as a background song.

This wiki page lists the name of the songs, so, the good thing is, you can use it as a guideline to find the title of the song linked to each play, and look for it on the spotify playlist or on youtube. On the wiki you'll find a link to the translations of the songs as well.

Note that on youtube, people have made lyrics videos of almost all the songs, so you can also just search for the song there using those page as guidelines.

For the Character songs: while you can listen to them whenever you want, when it comes to look into the lyrics, the lyrics will tell you a bit about each of the characters's deal, though, in poetic ways it might not give away too much. The 1st solo song represent who they are as they join the company, while the 2nd solo song represent who they are after they spent at least one year there and grew. So the 1st song wouldn't be considered spoilery, but the second one could be, that said, the second one usually becomes understandable after you start to see how the characters are starting to heal.

but honestly, i've listened to the songs ways before i read the parts of the story they were linked to, so, it's as you feel on that regard!

then the smell of the ramen broth entered your nose

oikawa’s voice made you whine and complain but then he stopped, making everyone else stop too

both grumbled something about you being treated like a pokemon but stopped when your eyes widened and contorted into confusion

oikawa grinned and your eyes met to see the way his eyes crinkled, a tell-tale sign that this one was a rare genuine smile

you let him take you inside the restaurant until your feet stopped, eyes wide when you noticed the streamers and the cake by the corner

your parents stood with natsu by the table and a large smile decorated your face

‘you,, you did this for me?’

you whispered and the team made noises of agreement

‘we had to do something for you to celebrate the day you were born. its a special day because you came into the world and we were able to meet you’

yahaba grinned and you gave him a big hug but you leaned back a bit so that the others would know you’re talking to them too

‘everyone, thank you. i love you’

they all scoffed a bit to hide their flustered state but they still smiled and each gave you a hug

‘oi! come here and eat the food! oikawa’s paying today!’

natsu shouted, which caught the attention of some customers in the restaurant, but they just ignored it bc theyve seen you and the team so many times that yall practically lived there

‘what?! i didnt-’

oikawa started but your mother came up to him and clasped her hands to his, sharing the same exact grin you have

‘you must be oikawa tooru. y/n has told me loads about you’

excuse him while he descends to heaven bc your mother is practically another you

iwa was already acquainted with your dad so they started talking and you just stood back, observing your two families interact with each other

you were so unbelievably happy that it hurts

kindaichi noticed you and he slinked away from the debate between makki and mattsun to go sling an arm around you

‘so? what do you think?’
