Continuing my year end tradition of finding things to celebrate :)

Greatest Hits of 2024:

1. moved back across the country :) Excited to start a new year in a new city

2. One of the highlights of this year was reading all 9 Temeraire novels - they have an endearing cast and are a very fun re-imagining of the Napoleonic Wars but with DRAGONS

3. A new apartment. This goes with moving but I am excited to have a new space and hang up art and spend time there, it's very cozy

4. I had a lot of fun with my garden this year, growing lots of tomatoes and drying a bunch of herbs for later

5. I got to spend the end of the year with my family and see some dear friends which has been so nice. I haven't been home for the holidays in a few years and it was especially nice.

6. Grateful for my friends in California and all the last minute things we did this year including a bonfire on the beach and tattoos, visiting weird restaurants, playing games and many many trips to the thrift store. I've been very lucky and I miss them already

7. I did some fun fandom writing events this year with @royaibigbang and the Temeraire summer exchange which is something I haven't done a lot of but which was very rewarding

8. Grateful for my cat

Historically I have done ten of these but this year felt hard in a lot of ways. I'm grateful to have made it to the end with my health and my sanity

Going into 2025 feels scary and I'm incredibly anxious over what this next year might hold but I have good people in my life and I hope that those connections will stay strong and provide light even when things are hard.

4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw

Suits! I love suits so much but my brain just can't wrap around how they fold/work!! Shoulder pads are basically the bane of my existence...

10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw

A big crisp button up shirt. Or anything with a shirt collar or buttons, I love me some collar seams. Or, maybe like... capes?

12. Easiest part of body to draw

Maybe not the simplest when you think "easy," but hands come to me pretty easily compared to other body parts.

Plus, they're pretty fun to pose!

Ahhh thank you thank you! And well... I haven’t drawn FMA in a while, my art queue so far is a week of Fire Emblem and then a week of Hades and then a TON of Zelda and Yan (OC) stuff be warned! I’ll definitely do more fma art in the future but the backlog is insane ahaha

Oh my goodness thank you so much!!!!! This means so much for me to read. I know I’m late replying to this and I’m sorry about that... I was trying to think of something good to say!

Do you ever have those moments where you’re bottling up with information and ideas. Where you want to scream out all your thoughts to the world. WHere it’s painful not to release those thoughts to the world. Where every second of your consciousness, you’re thinking these thoughts. Then someone asks you what you’re thinking. And. You. Immediately. forget everything you’ve ever said and thought of? XD Oh my goodness, this is one of those instances. Somehow I’m blanking out, despite the fact a friend and I at one point drafted a VERY LENGTHY Royai AU fic!

If I find something good to say though I’ll reblog this or make a new post and tag you! Because OH MY GOSH I FREAKING LOVE ROYAI SO MUCH AND THERE ARE ENDLESS THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THEM (despite my brain brainfarting rn haha).

2022: greatest hits

Not the easiest task you gave me here, ahah, but here are the points I'm definitely grateful for this year:

1. Changed a studying program and got accepted into a new (my current) university!! I was previously in a medical school, but this year I decided to change both my uni and a studying program (gonna ba a clinical psychologist now yaaaay!!). Both my physical and mental health improved a lot after this change, and I got to meet a lot of new wonderful people, while also still staying in contact with some of my folks from the previous studying place.

2. Got more opportunities to spend time with my very close friends - for quite some time we were all caught up in our studies and haven't seen each other in a long while, but I feel like this year we became even closer than before. I love them with all my heart and soul, and I'm looking forward to spending the next year by each other's side.

3. I got back into drawing and started my own blog! I had a strong art block for the past year and a half, for several reasons, but still. It felt so satisfying to pick up my favorite hobby again, and moreso to be able to draw for the fandom I'm currently into x) Huge thanks to each and every person who supported me until this point, I always enjoy reading all your lovely comments in the tags and just talk about stuff with everyone who feels like it! 🥺 💛

4. Which leads me to the next point - FMA (and especially Royai) fandom - thank you all so much for all the encouragement and positivity and just for being such an awesome and welcoming community of cool people!! Special shout out to my dear tumblr pocket friends and my lovely Discord people, you guys absolutely rock 😎💕

5. My health improvement! - I was able to get my final big eye surgery, so I hope I won't have to go back to this stuff next year and that I'm finally leaving this part of my life behind.

6. Movies, books, fics and music - all this stuff gave me a lot of strength and inspiration during the year, well, especially the latter two, not gonna lie, ahah. I guess it's partially related to the fandom point, but especially music always has played a pretty big role in my life, and, since I got an honor to meet such incredible writers in 2022, I wanted to mention this point separately as well:)

I'm afraid I won't be able to get to 10, but anyway x)) This year with all honesty was a rough one for me in many aspects, but I'm glad I still have all these good things that I got and can share with you all.

Ten good things in 2023,

Love. I felt so loved by my husband, my cat, my friends, and my in-laws. This was a year that I badly needed the love, the support, the encouragement, and the comfort they bought me, and they surrounded me with it. I felt so much compassion from my manager at work and the other two ladies in my department. I got so much compassion, care, and empathy from people who read and replied to my posts on tumblr, who sent me messages. Never doubt that your kindness to your friends and family, to your coworkers, to the people on your tumblr dashboard, makes a difference. Your kindness makes life worth living and it saves lives.

Writing. I wrote a novel! I am so proud of myself for starting and finishing this in 2023, and getting through painstaking rounds of edits. Writing and publishing a novel has been a lifelong dream, and I'm so happy I will be able to see that come true within the next several weeks.

Travel. Getting to experience Greece, Washington state, and Peru was healing in so many ways. I'm grateful for getting the opportunity to experience that and see such beautiful things.

Cooking. Cooking is one of my most beloved hobbies, and I got to try so many delicious recipes this year. It feels great to make restaurant-quality food at home. Shout out to recipetineats and Swasthi's Recipes for being the MVPs for helping make all these delicious meals happen!

Discovering new music. It is SO rare for me to listen to new music. Until fall of 2023, I listened to the same artists I have since high school and college. Friends were the gateway to helping me find inspiring new music - Logic, Joyner Lucas, and BTS, and BTS opened the door to me getting into kpop. BTS, Blackpink, (G)-IDLE, Hyuna, Mamamoo, Le Sserafim, Stray Kids, and Monsta X have fueled great workouts, alongside Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Fitness. I got back into weightlifting in late summer/early fall of 2023. It has helped me become stronger, feel more confident, and most importantly, run without pain! My endurance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness is so much better than it was this time last year.

Growth. I became more resilient in my professional and personal life, and I hope to reap the benefits of that resilience for years to come.

Medications. After years of trial and error, and inadequate symptom control, I finally got on the correct dose of antidepressants. The benefits have been tremendous.

Routines. My routines brought me great comfort in 2023. Tea in the mornings, walking Westin in the yard on summer mornings, morning workouts, Saturday or Sunday trips to the garden store and planting on summer afternoons, cooking dinner while listening to an audiobook, watching a show with Derek after dinner.

New hobbies. In the last 2 months of 2023, I got into learning Spanish and scrapbooking. I love both. My ~35 minutes of Spanish daily is a highlight of my day, and I had SO much fun spending hours scrapbooking over my winter break. I'm so happy that I am finally making progress on my scrapbooking project, which I started over a year and a half ago.
