#chest colds

A has been coughing for days now. The kind of deep, painful cough that makes one almost gag, and makes their abdominal muscles so awfully sore that they end up trying their best not to give in into another coughing fit.

B is sitting on the couch next to A, reading and just having some downtime, as A is lying down with their head on B's lap, trying to rest.

A's breathing is all shades of noisy and messed up. There's a deep, rhythmical wheeze deep in their lungs, and a gurgly, phlegm-filled rattle every time they breathe.

B: "A, love? You should cough. Your chest doesn't sound good at all."

A, whining: "No... abs hurt too much."

B: "I know, dear, but this infection is turning ugly quickly. You need to shake loose this ick in your lungs before it turns into pneumonia. If we're not already there, that's it. Here, let me help. Take a deep breath."

A complies, filling their exhausted lungs with air as much as they can, and B pushes forcefully on their diaphragm, eliciting a semi passive cough from A. They repeat the process a few times, and A manages to clean their chest a tiny bit.

B: "There... better?"

A nods and smiles weakly, finally a little less wheezy.

Grab your character and shove their head underwater. Keep them pinned until they breathe in the water. Pull them up and let them splutter and cough. Push them under again. Pull them up. Let them use their precious seconds of air to beg. "Ple-Please, please stop — " Push them under again. Feel them squirm. Pull them up sooner; they couldn't hold their breath long enough. Once more for good measure. Don't let them up until they nearly suffocate. Pull them up and throw them to the ground, let them cough up all the water they swallowed. Pull them into your lap. They are shivering, the cold water having seeped deep into their bones. They are crying. They are going to try to pull away. Don't let them. Hush them gently. Card through their hair. Let them relax under your hands. Then drag them back over to the water. Put their nose right above the surface and keep their head right there. Let them imagine how it will feel to be pushed under again, held there, pulled up just so they can drown again. They will fight, they will sob, they will plead and barter and yell. They will be scared. Answer them with an order. "Take a deep breath for me." Watch them struggle to decide if they should. They probably won't be able to take one deep enough if they tried. Push them under. Watch them squirm. Repeat.

cold and smitten kissing is nice but personally i think cold should goad him into stabbing him and while smitten stands there frozen in shock (bc it was a heat of the moment thing) cold puts his hand over smitten's (the one holding the blade) and pushes it deeper in. and despite it being an act of violence, its very intimate and tender.

💞 would love to open a handsome boy's lifeless mouth, finding it grey with hypoxia, and clip a pulse ox monitor right to his tongue like he was my pretty puppy 💞 feeling the chord and the hard plastic as I press my warm, hot mouth over his cold, limp, grey one to give breaths 💞 using the clip to pull his slack tongue out of his mouth and airway, so I make sure all of my air reaches his pretty chest 💞 doing compressions and watching the clip bob, taking his tongue with it, as his body spasms under the effort 💞 maybe I get to slide a tube down his throat, using only my hands of course, getting to guide it down is airway and into his lungs all on my own, no scope, the process intimate, my hands digging around and manipulating his tongue and jaw to get it in place right 💞 getting to take that tube down and use it, kissing around it, forcine air through it 💞 maybe I get to see some fluid drain out of it like a spout as I do compressions or turn him on his side 💞 getting to see his mouth full and used 💞 getting that pretty puppy mouth all pink again so I can kiss him softly 💞 what a dream 💞

On a different note from my usual vein, I forget sometimes how much of a badass Xie Lian is! He's honestly a lot colder and more practical than we give him credit for. His last two shits died along with his will to live. He will do what it takes to win, honorable or no. Like, I forget a lot that he ascended due to his martial talent you know? But then again, I think he expends a lot of effort trying to bury that aspect of himself as well. He loves swords, and yet we hardly ever see him use one, because he's sworn off killing with them.

"You must understand that the moment a sword is unsheathed, someone will be hurt. When force is released, something must receive it."

Hearing those words from him after the massacre reveal!? After he calmly states that if Lang Qianqiu fights him, Xie Lian will kill him?!! He is achingly aware of how easy it is to hurt people, particularly himself. We rarely see him attack people, he's always so considerate of the potential collateral damage. When Xie Lian accidentally grips Shi Qingxuan too hard as they're fleeing paradise manor, and it scares him?!!

Xie Lian is a lot more cold than we give him credit for, and it makes sense with how he gets along with Hua Cheng.

Whumpee who's developed a terrible chest cold from being out on their own without shelter. Caretaker brings them inside when they collapse from exhaustion & gives them blankets and soup. Whumpee is grumpy about this like a stray cat but keeps falling asleep bc they're so cozy.
