- BSL gets better and better the more i think about it , im using please & thank you all the time id love to expand my repetoire
- French is like the sexiest language to sing in but i cant roll my tounge so maybe this would be a bad pick
- Icelandic would be really cool, simmilarly for singing Bjork songs
- Ancient Egyption & Cornish are my other two picks because Chessen is one of the cool people im absorbing traits from all the time teehee
If you could instantly be granted fluency in 5 languages—not taking away your existing language proficiency in any way, solely a gain—what 5 would you choose?

In 1962, children's tv host Sherri Chessen sought to terminate her pregnancy after learning the sedative her husband had brought home from Europe (thalidomide) had been found to cause severe birth defects, despite being marketed as a treatment for morning sickness. It was not authorized in the US, as FDA reviewer Frances Oldham Kelsey realized there was no information on its effects on pregnancy and refused to bow to pressure.
Chessen was unable to obtain permission for an abortion in Arizona. The publicity from her case led to her requiring FBI protection and the loss of her job hosting Romper Room. She was denied a visa to Japan.
On August 7, Kelsey received the President's Award for Distinguished Federal Civilian Service from President Kennedy in recognition of her role in minimizing the damage of the drug in the US.
On August 18, Chessen's pregnancy was terminated in Sweden. She was told the fetus would not have survived.
In 2012, she recounted her story in her own words.

The Two Doctors The Doctor has teamed up with himself before to save lives. This time, he must save his past self in order to ensure his own existence in his present. What could Chessene and dim-witted lackey Shockeye have planned with the Sontarans? Only one thing is known for sure: time will tell.
Flux Halloween, 2021. A storm approaches. Something tears through space and time, undoing everything it touches. Who is the man who escapes his shackles? What about Dan has got his captor's attention? Why have the Angels come? And what will remain of the Earth when this night is done?
Thrown back into the Crimean War, the Doctor finds the Light Division are about to enter senseless battle with… an army of Sontarans? Yaz and Dan are pulled away from her, and each find their task will be restoring Time. The Sontarans are ready for eternal conquest, and in the Temple of Atropos, the enemy has arrived to take it all.
Atropos has fallen, once again. The Doctor has thrown herself into a time storm in a desperate bid to save her friends. As Time itself comes apart, she finds much more than she bargained for. All four are lost, together, in memories: past, present, future. So many roles they play. So many choices they have endured. And now, what happened once has come again.
Devon, November 1967. A little girl has gone missing, Professor Eustacius Jericho has been conducting psychic experiments, and there's one stone too many in the village graveyard. What do the Weeping Angels want with this village? It's all happened once before. Medderton is the "cursed village". Sent back once? You stand a chance. But twice recalled is once too many.
For Yaz, Dan, and Jericho, life in the early 20th century is holding more adventure and danger than they could have ever imagined. For Bel, her mission to find her husband has taken a drastic wrong turn. For Vinder, the wrath of the Ravagers awaits. For the Grand Serpent, UNIT is his for the taking. And for the Doctor, nothing may ever be the same again…
Split across three realities, the Thirteenth Doctor has more than one problem to solve. The Division's base, way out in the Void, has been taken. Some unlikely allies have joined together, hoping to find victory in Earth's final hour. The Grand Serpent has been making plans, and the Doctor's oldest enemies hold the key to the Doctor's past, poised on handing her their final retribution. Tunnels beneath the Earth lead to all kinds of places in space and time. As the final Flux event approaches, which door leads to victory? Last call before the end. It's time for contact.

Celebrating Jacqueline Pearce
Jacqueline Pearce is a British actress best know for playing Servalan in all four series of Blake's 7.
Born in Woking in the south of England, Jacqueline Pearce trained at the British stage school RADA and at Lee Strasberg’s Actors Studio in Los Angeles.
Her TV career began in the 1960’s with regular roles in the ITV Play of the Week as well as appearances in shows such as The Avengers and Armchair Theatre.
She starred in two Hammer horror films, The Plague of the Zombies and The Reptile, filmed simultaneously in 1966. Other film roles include Sky West and Crooked, Don’t Raise the Bridge, Lower the River and How to Get Ahead in Advertising.
Tumblr media
Roles in the 1970’s included Rosa Dartle in David Copperfield, Claudia Haswell in Couples, and Anna Rupius in Vienna 1900. But it was in 1978 that she was cast in the role for which she would be ever known.
Servalan was the Supreme Commander of the Terran Federation in Blakes 7, the TV drama devised by Dalek creator Terry Nation. The character was only expected to appear in one episode of the saga, but Pearce’s electrifying performance ensured the character would survive far longer than the title character, appearing in all four series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A cold, calculating, ruthless sociopath Servalan’s main aim was to destroy the crew of the Liberator and the relish with which Pearce played the character ensured she would remain a fan favourite for the series duration.
Her Doctor Who appearance came in 1985, playing Chessene of the Franzine Grig in the Colin Baker story The Two Doctors. She later appeared in a slew of Blake’s 7 and Doctor Who audio adventures for for Big Finish Productions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 1991 she played Miss Pendragon in the Russell T. Davies series Dark Season. She also appeared in series such as Casualty, Doctors, Daniel Deronda and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.
Tumblr media
Her theatre work included West End appearances in Harold Pinter’s Otherwise Engaged (Queen’s Theatre) and JB Priestly’s Dangerous Corner (Garrick Theatre); Shadowlands; Tom Stoppard’s Night and Day (Belgrade Theatre, Coventry) ; and her one woman show A Star is Torn.

Jacqueline relocated to South Africa for several years, initially to care for orphaned monkeys, before recently returning to the UK. Her autobiography, From Byfleet to the Bush, was published in 2012.

Doctor Who: The Two Doctors
I rewatched this serial on 6 May 2023. I also watched A Fix with Sontarans, which is included in the blu-ray collection. Oh my word, what is on Tegan’s head? But, she is fabulous with Colin’s Doctor.
We begin in black and white that morphs to colour. The Doctor and Jamie look at a large space station (Victoria is off learning about graphology). They arrive on the station, looking for someone called Dastari, but first arrive in the kitchen and meet an Androgum named Shockeye. It doesn’t take long before the Doctor tries to convince Dastari to stop a bunch of experiments into time travel. Dastari refuses, but then falls asleep. Meanwhile, another Androgum, Chessene (wonderfully played by Jacqueline Pearce) plots with Shockeye about Sontarans. The Sontarans arrive and kidnap the Doctor… and they head to Spain, on Earth, because, why not?
While Peri is bored, the Doctor is fishing. He has a funny turn and they head to the space station where the Doctor and Jamie are in a fix with Sontarans and Androgums. Only when our heroes arrive, there is only a lot of rotting meat about. Eventually, they meet up with Jamie and catch up on the plot. The three head to Spain… but at least they have a reason to — they’re after the Doctor to rescue him!
There are some lovely comic moments, and I laughed Peri’s admonishment of the Doctor when he uses personal pronouns in a confusing manner. I do wonder why the Sontarans were in it, and the Time Lord stuff is utter bunkum. The best things about this three-part serial (the same length as an old six-part serial) are Patrick Troughton, Frazer Hines, Jacqueline Pearce and John Stratton. Colin and Nicola play off the others marvellously well, too.

A swede pointed out on my post about Sherri Chessen of the Romper Room's going to Sweden to have an abortion that abortion at that time in Sweden was pretty much restricted except for the reasons Sherri was seeking an abortion. If I find the post I'll add that user's addendum. It's important to think historically.
