Best Beginner Chess Course for Children | Chessbrainz
It is challenging to select the best chess course for beginners especially when you want the program to provide fundamental education to your child. People who play chess develop their problem-solving capability and memory functions and strategic thinking abilities. Embedding children in chess programs designed for kids allows them to advance their knowledge from an enjoyable and engaging educational setting.  A good course enhances learning and keeps kids motivated.
1. Focus on Basic Concepts and Rules
The foundation of any excellent beginner chess course needs to start by teaching the fundamentals. Students must learn about the chessboard and the movement rules for every piece and specific rules including castling and passant. Kids require plain explanations and fun ways of learning these rules. Visuals, practice boards, and activity work can make the learning experience easy. A course that permits kids to keep practicing these fundamentals helps them become more confident.
2. Step-by-Step Strategy Formulation
Once the rules are known to children, the next task is to develop their strategic minds. A properly planned chess lesson for children presents tactics in steps. Beginning with basic moves such as forks, pins, and skewers allows children to learn major strategies without getting confused. As they get better, they can proceed to planning multi-move attacks and defending their pieces successfully. Simple examples, practice drills, and games against opponents with similar skill levels assist children in applying these strategies.
3. Facilitating Practice through Enjoyable Activities
Practice is also necessary in chess, but children learn better if they enjoy learning. A quality chess course for kids incorporates puzzles, mini-games, and group work so that they feel like playing and not studying. These exercises enhance their pattern recognition, memory, and critical thinking. Frequent practice sessions with a playful tone make the kids interested. Incorporating friendly challenges or competitions may also enhance their enthusiasm.
4. Interactive Learning and Coaching
A good beginner chess course should include interactive learning techniques. Live coaching is particularly helpful for children as they can clear doubts and get instant feedback. Group discussion, studying great chess games, and interactive lessons make children understand chess strategies more clearly. Live games with other players on online platforms can also enhance their practical skills. Guided coaching by expert coaches helps children avoid learning the wrong things.
5. Developing Confidence Through Progress Monitoring
Monitoring progress is essential in keeping children engaged and motivated. The ideal chess course for starters tends to provide progress charts, milestone badges, and certificates of achievement to mark progress. These rewards motivate children to be consistent while also providing parents with a clear understanding of the child's progress. Ongoing tests can also assist teachers in understanding the areas in which children require extra practice.
Conclusion
Children's development in chess along with their interest grows best when educators choose appropriate chess learning programs.  The ideal chess course for novices must marry straightforward instructions, interesting activities, and continuous progress tracking. Making sure the course has fun as well as learning will encourage children to continue. For parents looking for a perfect course, Chessbrainz provides a well-balanced approach catering to both starters and progressing players.

TCG with Dottore but depending on how the match is going he'd either be really smug or a sore-loser
It doesn't matter which Segment and how old he is, each version of him gets a little too heated over the card game
Difference is that the younger ones would just grumble that the game was stupid anyway and leave it at that, while the older ones would not so subtly ask for a rematch but with a different game, such as chess (where he doesn't have to rely on how lucky his card draws are) to defend his ego
Omega is the outlier. If he loses he'll play it off as if he did it on purpose to leave the game quicker since he has work to do (he's internally upset)
Initially, Dottore and the segments really didn't care about TCG. In fact, most of them didn't even hear about it until you, very excitedly, introduced the card game to them. (You needed to use your team, consisting of Dottore segments of course, to destroy someone.) They say they don't care about silly games, but in reality, they secretly get a bit too interested for their own good. They believe that the rules are simple enough, skimming over the rules and characteristics of each card. Surely, the Dottores have got this in the bag! After all, each of them has broken Teyvat's laws, contributed new findings to the world, created Gods, threatened Gods, will end up burning a certain tree, and oh so much more - a card game could never leave them stumped!
Only that the longer the game goes on, the more inwardly distressed they get as you keep flaming their cards or they keep drawing useless ones. Your laughter doesn't help their state either. Alpha leaves immediately in a huff while your cackling follows him down the hall. Beta curses under his breath and takes his anger out dismantling a machine. Poor things are grumpy up for a while. Only for them to spend time thoroughly researching the game and developing tactics, inevitably waiting for you to invite them to a match. They are evil. They are smug with their win. Do not fall for their trap. But if you win again, they will descend into grumbling again.
The older segments being better at playing off their feelings, resign to their loss with a conceding sigh. Look on the bright side - you managed to beat the Il Dottore in something. If anything, they're rather proud of your intelligence - truly one of the reasons they love you so. Now why don't you show them your expertise in chess instead! You have something to teach them there too, won't you? (The segments say as he takes joy in how your head hangs in defeat.)
And you could never forget the reaction you got from your dearest Omega - the one who's always a few steps ahead, thinking of all possibilities, outcomes, and choices... being so confident in his skills and deck at first, legs languidly crossed... only to watch his smile twitch and fall, glowing eye blinking in thought as he tried to concoct a strategy to defeat you. Unfortunately, he does not realize you're playing an overpowered, unfair deck against a pure beginner despite how intelligent he is. You are cruel. You leave him speechless for a few moments as he shrugs, calm smile returning to his face as he asks you whether you've enjoyed your time with him. Note that if you try to play with him again, he'll guide the conversation elsewhere quickly.
(Also - they are very insistent on using your TCG character card in their teams. Even if the devs made your card trash they will somehow make you OP. Do not underestimate their minds.)

Hi ,I hope your health is great ! I just discovered your writing and I really liked it! I was wondering if I could request something, I'm a chess player so I always thought what it would be like to play with Albert Moriarty, or teach him how to play (though he's so smart and he must know how very well) so can you write about that ? thank you so much for your time ! ( i hope it's not much trouble) <3.
Have a good day/night .
This was so fun to write! But I will warn you now, though I can play chess, I am terrible at it lol
**********************
Beginner's Luck - Albert Moriarty x Reader
Tumblr media
This man has been raised as a noble.
He's had a stellar education. Hours upon hours of studying. And, par for the course of his upbringing, he's quite the brilliant chess player.
But, when you misheard him and thought he'd never played before, he didn't have the heart to correct you.
When you'd asked him if he played chess, he had answered fairly simply.
"Yes. I have." But, between the chatter of the nobles around you, you must've misheard him. You were dragging him to the nearest game room within moments, squealing at the idea of teaching him how. How could he correct you? Neither of you had wanted to go to this event. The nobility of the area had arranged it once you two got married, something of a wedding party that neither of you wanted. You hadn't been this happy all evening. He couldn't tell you the truth. He couldn't tell you how he'd almost always won every single match. That's what had him here, sitting across from you with a chess board set up. You were going over the rules, starting your own plays and "guiding" him on how to retaliate. And though you were by no means bad, he did have to hold his tongue on other, better plays that could've been made. "And the pawn can only go forward and diagonal, right?" He prayed that his confused tone sounded convincing enough. You nodded, clapping your hands in delight, "Yes, Albert! You're learning so quickly, I'm so excited for you! This can be our new game." You moved your knight to take his pawn, and he faked a scowl. But, before he could stop himself, he saw where you had made a fatal flaw. The moving of your knight had left your queen open to attack. He didn't even think before he moved his bishop over, winning the game. One problem. You hadn't explained what a bishop did yet. You looked up at him, an eyebrow raised. Chuckling awkwardly, his hand wiped a nervous bead of sweat from his brow, "Uh... Beginner's luck?"

levi thinks he loves you.
it’s taken him a while to figure his feelings out. of course you were kind enough to understand. to not take his reserved manner personal and to give him space.
but now that you’ve given him time. he’s figured it out.
the realisation totally came upon him unexpectedly.
the feeling occurred randomly, on a quiet saturday afternoon. the two of you sat on the couch, playing a 1v1 videogame.
he’d let you take the first win of course, letting you boldly celebrate around your apartment, unbeknownst to you that this would be your first and final win against him.
he was just warming up.
by the third round, the warm living room filled with your spews of curse words. sitting down on a huff, you placed your controller down, crossing your arms in frustration.
“I’m not playing anymore.”
it’s a lie that you and him both know. and for Levi the second he asks for an update in your shared world on Minecraft this loss of yours is already forgotten.
maybe that’s what he loves about you.
he loves the way you scrunch up your nose in annoyance once you lose a game with him. whether it be a videogame or chess.
which always ends in you, crying out for mercy that you’re a beginner having no experience in chess despite knowing the rules for the past year.
he loves the way you refuse to change. you’re as stubborn as he is, not afraid to butt heads. it’s only now that he’s met you that he’s learnt that communication and understanding is what works for the two of you.
he loves the way you have a soft spot for any stray cats that you see on the street. he loves the way you look up at him with your own puppy eyes begging to take them in as your own.
and if he had let you, he’s sure there would be hundreds running around.
he loves the way you announce your little random facts, or the way you get excited and kick your feet once the protagonist and the love interest in your book finally kiss, and how you’ll listen with deep interest of how his day went at work. Adding in your own input here and there.
he loves the way you show your affection. a simple kiss on the cheek always does the trick in getting him embarrassed. yet somehow always leaves him in wanting for more.
and he loves the different ways that his name can slip from your tongue. the stark contrast heard between your tone of frustration and the sweet tone that you have once he’s between your legs.
he loves the way your half lidded eyes stay focused on him, his name all high pitched and breathy as he sees you through your climax .
it all hits him now and it’s definite.
he loves you.

Matchup Exchange
For @ethereal-moonglow
Your HSR match is...Jing Yuan!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hesitated between Jing Yuan, Aventurine and Sampo! In the end Jing Yuan won because he’s more stable than the other two. Is it ironic that I say that knowing I love red flags? Yes but we shall not speak about that.
Now for the meeting… you got involved with a mentorship program for young Cloud Knights-in-training. You weren’t an official soldier, but your ability to connect with kids, your strategic mind, and your natural leadership made you an excellent tutor in basic battlefield psychology and adaptability. He was curious and decided to come in and observe the program in person but in a very bad disguise. Ditching his uniform and wearing a wig isn’t enough. And also who would expect him to do something like this? Isn’t he normally always busy? Apparently not. And it’s totally not because his kid is in the program nooooo
You figured out his identity pretty fast. I mean…golden eyes? Very advanced answers for a so called beginner? Check. Come on he’s no fooling anyone. Not even the kids cuz when you challenged him with a follow up question he responded effortlessly, like he was teasing you. The back-and-forth turned into a full-on debate, with the kids watching in fascination. Some connected the dots and you gaslit them into thinking otherwise. Needless to say, you two had a meeting after hours as to what on earth compelled him to do this? Doesn’t he trust your reputation? More at 9 because the quality of his answers might make him face an angry instructor.
Jing Yuan being the gentleman he is invited you over for tea. At least he got good taste. His excuse for such a bad costume and infiltration?
“There has been some rebellions in the youth lately. It was traced back to their instructor. Now, making Yanqing join the program was planned. But you can’t blame a guardian for being worried am I right? Not that you are suspicious lady! I was just worried about my child…Now that I’ve met you I’m jealous that he gets to spend so much time with you”
Real smooth Jing Yuan. Crisis averted, and it was totally not because the food was good. During that dinner both of you warmed up to each other and ended up cracking jokes. But there was one question…who’s the best smooth talker? Sorry but I believe he wins. Good luck making him blush!
Now how you two got close…. Jing Yuan found you fascinating. Someone who could keep up with his wit, challenge him, and wasn’t immediately intimidated by his status yet respectful? Of course he wants to develop a friendship or at least build up good relations! So naturally, he started visiting the mentorship sessions more often, using the excuse of “evaluating the program.” His visits became a routine. Sometimes he joined the lessons. Sometimes he just watched you work, secretly enjoying your energy and playfulness. It all escalated till one day Yanqing was complaining that your puzzles were too difficult! He even said jokingly that you might be the only one able to beat Jing Yuan in a game of chess. Jing Yuan has his own ego and is now curious about your level in chess…that’s why he invites you for a game. At the end of the game he saw you in another light…for such a mature and professional tutor, you sure as hell is chaotic! You didn’t playing traditionally. No, your gameplay is chaotic, spontaneous, and you made risky moves that shouldn’t have worked but did. In the end he won but he knew that you were gonna ask for a rematch and train to get better.
“I haven’t had a match this enjoyable in years…would you humor me with another?”
More matches came and he didn’t realize how at ease he felt with you. Till one day, he walked into a wall while watching you. That’s when the general knew he was smitten. It didn’t take long for him to confess. Well it depends how close the next festival is. Yes he confessed at the festival, under amazing fireworks.
Now Jing Yuan as a lover… He’s a strategist at heart, but when it comes to you, he willingly throws caution to the wind. No matter the shenaningan you want to get into, he will encourage you cuz he trusts his ability to keep you safe. Yes he’s a bit protective due to the many enemies he has. I didn’t want to start with the angst but here it is. None can convince me that he doesn’t have nightmares of the past. That man lost a lot of his friends and companions. It happens that he wakes up in sweat, dreaming that he lost you. He loves how you always manages to calm him down afterward but you can feel him being more on guard and clingy for at least a few days after.
Back to the happiness, I can see him having 3 main love languages. Gifts, words and acts of service. While he loves quality time he’s always busy. That’s why he compensates with gifts and acts of service. Every day you can expect flowers, your favorite drink and the such being delivered to you. And when he can, he whisks you away for some quality time during lunch. Jing Yuan even went as far as to one day take a day off without telling you, then spend the day cooking something for you AND hide little papers with words of encouragement all across your home. It was a very domestic date but one he secretly yearns for.
Frankly, everyone knows how smitten he is. I mean…he once did a 180 from being disappointed at subordinates to asking how your day went with a soft tone. Oh and the pet names…don’t get me started on them. He tried them all and has no shame to use them in public. If someone gets too bold around you, he won’t get angry. Instead, he’ll smile smugly and casually pull you closer, whispering something in your ear that instantly flusters you and gets the point across. What a diplomat.
All of this to say that Jing Yuan is a very devoted and loving boyfriend. Considering the things he witnesses, he loves how doting and understanding you are. It’s a break from the darkness without being cheesy. That’s why he makes sure to tell you every day how much you light up his world.

Hullo Doctor !!!
What's your favourite chess game you've witnessed/read about?
For me, it has to be the one my two friends played right after I had taught them how to move the pieces... It was interesting, to say the least.
They actually managed to end in a smothered mate (with some corrections from me when they made illegal moves of course), which I enjoyed greately since the knight is my favourite piece.
—Amaia
Hi Amaia,
A smothered mate in a beginner game? That’s genuinely impressive, and yes, the knight is an excellent favorite.
My favorite game is probably Fischer vs. Byrne, 1956, „The Game of the Century.” A brilliant queen sacrifice by a 13 year old Fischer. I still revisit it sometimes.
Thanks for the lovely ask. Keep teaching, it sounds like you’re doing a great job.

Cullen Rutherford Emoji HC's Part 1
Prompt here. 𝐎𝐁𝐉𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐒. 💭 THOUGHT BALLOON — what is your oc’s MBTI, enneagram, and/or other personality aspects (if known/interested in)? He is an ISTJ and a Capricorn. He’s likely a 1 or 2 on the enneagram, but I’m not sure what wing, if any.
🚗 CAR — does your oc have a driver’s license? can they drive/operate any automobiles/machinery besides cars? Cannon has a horse, of course. Modern AU: He has his license and drives a vintage cherry red Camaro. He also has a motorcycle. He rode them during his time in the military, and it was one of the only things he bought after he left the military. He loves to take it out in the middle of the night when the world is quiet and enjoy the breeze.
✈️ AIRPLANE — does your oc like traveling, or do they consider themselves a more homey person? Cullen traveled a lot while in the Templar S.A.S. (Special Air Service.).He went to Germany, central Europe, the Middle East and Japan. His favorite was Japan. However, he considers himself a homey person. With that said, he wouldn’t mind visiting New Zealand, Ireland, Wales, South Korea or Mongolia. The National Parks interest him as well. He would definitely travel with his partner if they wanted to, but it would depend on his chronic pain and his lyrium withdrawal. 🎮 VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER — what are three of your oc’s favorite hobbies? Hiking, reading, and playing chess! As a bonus, he also secretly loves playing Age of Empires and Civilization.
💍 RING — does your oc have any piercings? do they want any (more) piercings? No, Canon does not, but Modern Au pierced his ear like George Michael on a dare.
🖊️ BALLPOINT PEN — does your oc have any tattoos? do they want any (more) tattoos? I’m not sure about Canon Cullen. I’m going to say likely not, but it’s possible he had a Templar tattoo somewhere. Modern Au Cullen definitely has at least one commemorating his service.
📚 BOOKS — what level of education has your oc most recently completed/is currently in (GED, undergraduate, grad school, phd, etc)? Canon Cullen would likely be considered very educated by Thedas standards, but I can see him being self conscious about where he was from. Modern AU Cullen is shy about his early education and secondary school because he lived in such a rural area and people made fun of him for his accent and “backwardsness”. However, he proved everyone wrong by proving how intelligent and adaptable he was. While in the military, he was able to work on a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice history and had a minor in history. Towards the end of his service, he was able to obtain a master’s degree in criminal justice, but he was surprised to learn how useful his history minor was as it taught him valuable skills such as research through archives and records.
🎻 VIOLIN — does your oc play any instruments? what is their skill level (beginner/intermediate/advanced/virtuoso/etc)? Canon Cullen cannot play instruments outside of his beautiful singing voice. Modern Au Cullen can kind of play the piano. He would be intermediate at best, but like canon, he has his gorgeous voice.
🩹 ADHESIVE BANDAGE — does your oc have any physical and/or mental disabilities? Lyrium withdrawl does a number on his body. He has chronic pain, chronic nausea, and chronic exhaustion. Sadly, a lot of people don’t believe these conditions are real and he feels like he has a reputation to maintain so he doesn’t show the extent these issues bother him. However, he does open up with those he loves most because he realizes he can’t go through the withdrawal completely alone - especially with the constant fevers he has. He also has depression and PTSD. This is for canon and modern.
🩸 DROP OF BLOOD — what is your oc’s blood type? B+

hii!! idk if you’ve been asked this before (if u have, sorry) but how did you learn chess? really been wanting to learn and your knowledge seems grand!
actually my knowledge is not grand at all lol- i was a tiny baby beginner when i first started writing the c(o)unterpart, so i would say that all chess stuff in there is pretty basic. but anyway, i started playing chess myself, i consulted and played with a friend who used to play professionally (girlie has a FIDE rating and all). i would recommend getting into some basic chess theory first–learning openings, maybe finding some good courses. then you can try solving chess puzzles (it’s ESSENTIAL)-there’s plenty of good beginner books for that. chess youtube is full of entertaining creators!! i like me a good funny, educational gotham chess video (the ‘how to lose at chess’ playlist is amazing, he covers a lot of beginner games and he’s quite funny). anna cramling and her GM mom pia cramling are my darlings and i love them, totally recommend checking out. but yeah i basically learned through playing myself and analysing every game. ALSOOO try finding some friends to play bughouse chess with. i don’t want to explain how bughouse works here, just look it up, but it’s both very fun and really helps you understand the game better! and idk that’s all i got. i hope this was helpful :)
but yeah i really did learn chess just to write a smutty fic… my dedication is something else istg

How can you choose the best chess course for beginners?
Starting with the journey in the world of chess could be a very exciting and rewarding experience in itself especially for beginners who are interested in developing strategic thinking, concentration and problem-solving skills. However, with so many courses available online and off-line finding the best chess course for beginners could be very much overwhelming and the following are the basic points that you need to take into account:
Determining your goals: Before proceeding with the choice of the best chess course for beginners it is very important for people to have a clear idea about the goals because understanding the objectives will be helpful in narrowing down the courses depending on your specific needs. Ideally, it is important to go for that particular chess course that comes with proper teaching of basic rules and movement of pieces, fundamental techniques and strategies in addition to the simple openings and games. Once you are able to master the basics you will be able to look forward to the advance level lessons focusing on the competition level strategies.
It is important to look for highly qualified instructors: The quality of the instruction will play a very critical role in how effectively you will be learning the chess game. Great instructors will be always at the forefront in terms of breaking down complex concepts into easy-to-understand lessons and will be providing you with personalised feedback. At the time of evaluating the instructors it is important for people to consider the experience level, teaching style and communication skills in the whole process so that student engagement will be very high and the overall experience will be enjoyable.
Having an idea about the course content with structure: Any very well-structured chess course should always focus on covering the fundamental aspects of the game in a very logical and step-by-step format so that things are sorted out and you will be able to have a good command over thetic and strategies. A good chess course for beginners must always include the basic piece movements, common technic, basic opening and defensive moves along with an introduction to the checkmate and the endgame. Interactive lessons in this particular case will be helpful in providing you with an element of practice so that you will be able to perfectly reinforce what you have learnt.
Reading the reviews and testimonials: At the time of proceeding with the choice of the best chess course for kids it is important for people to have a clear idea about the reviews and testimonials through the online platforms so that you will be able to get the feedback very genuinely and further overall satisfaction element in this case can be perfectly checked out. Positive reviews from the beginners in particular will indicate that the course is beginner-friendly as well as effective.
In addition to the points mentioned above, comparing the pricing and value for money perspective is also very important for people so that everyone will be able to get the genuine element of value in investment and further will be able to learn the fundamentals with a spark of lifelong love for the game.

Kenshiro's Thoughts on Himeji Division
Tumblr media
Nobuo Sone
"I know this guy's an actor, but that's about all I know about him. Whatever else I know comes from newspapers and news sites, not exactly a reliable way to judge someone, but enough to give me an idea of what kind of life he leads.
"Honestly? He's one of the reasons I have zero interest in being in the spotlight. It's not about fear, I could give a crap if people judge me or not. They've been doing that all my life, anyway.
"No, it's about the fact that the world is always watching, just waiting for you to slip up or do something that gives them a reason to make you out to be something you're not. Like I said, I couldn't care what they say about me, but no one in hell would I ever expose my daughters to something like that. Honestly, I don't know how Saeko puts up with it."
Bunko Ozaki
"This might come as something of a surprise, but I've always had an appreciation for strategy games. Chess, Go, backgammon, Othello, and of course, shogi. I really have always wanted to learn how to play, but between work and life, I've never had the time to sit down and actually learn. And honestly? I don't think I'd have the patience for it. Knowing me, I'd probably end up flipping the board within ten minutes.
"That's why I respect Bunko-san, learning shogi that young, becoming a champion, dedicating himself to it like that? That takes serious discipline. I've actually just started reading his second book, the beginner's guide. And while I know reading can't replace actually playing, it's good to get the basics down first. Who knows? Maybe I can get my daughters into the game. If nothing else, it'd be nice to have someone to play with."
Iwao Yoshioka
"I don't know this guy. I've never had much reason to take a train. In fact, I can't recall in recent memory ever getting on those things ever since I got my own ride, a 20XX Toyota Hilux, which I don't even really use much. Yamagata's got everything within walking distance, at least for me, so trains and cars aren't something I ever really think about. Still, it's good to know I have options.
"But you know what really gets me about this guy? His size. People always say I've got an intimidating build, but him? That's a whole different level. I didn't think I'd ever meet someone in my weight range, and yet, here he is."
YASHA
"I'll be honest: as famous as these guys are, at least in Nobuo and Bunko's cases, they don't really have much in common, less you count the controversies they had during their careers. Iwao-san seems to be the odd man out. I have to wonder how they all even came together. Speaking of which, it'll be interesting to see how they coincide. Whether they can hold together long enough to truly dominate is something only time will tell."

10 Tips for Beginners in Chess
Chess is an ancient game of strategy, where patience, planning, and practice go hand in hand. Whether you’re picking up the board for the first time or want to improve your basic skills, here are ten essential tips for beginners that can help you advance and enjoy the game even more.
1. Understand the Rules Thoroughly
Before diving into strategies and tactics, make sure you understand the fundamental rules of the game. Familiarize yourself with how each piece moves and the unique moves like castling, en passant, and pawn promotion. Knowing the rules will help you see the bigger picture on the board.
2. Learn Piece Values
Each chess piece has a value that can guide you in exchanges. Generally, pawns are worth 1 point, knights and bishops 3, rooks 5, and the queen 9. While the king has no numeric value, as it can’t be captured, understanding these values will help you make better decisions about which pieces to keep and which to exchange.
Tumblr media
3. Control the Center
The four central squares on the board (e4, e5, d4, and d5) are crucial in controlling the game. By placing your pawns and pieces to influence these squares, you’ll gain more mobility and limit your opponent’s options. A strong center allows for more flexibility and a solid foundation for attacks.
4. Develop All Your Pieces Early
A common mistake for beginners is focusing too much on just a few pieces, especially the queen. Instead, work on developing all your pieces, especially knights and bishops, as soon as possible. This will give you more options for attacking and defending.
5. Don’t Move the Same Piece Multiple Times Early On
In the opening phase, avoid moving the same piece multiple times unless necessary. Moving one piece repeatedly wastes valuable time that could be used to bring other pieces into the game. Strive for efficiency in the early moves to maximize your control over the board.
6. Protect Your King
Never neglect the safety of your king. One of the best ways to ensure this is by castling early, which moves the king to a safer position and connects your rooks. Avoid leaving your king exposed to direct threats, as it can lead to a quick loss.
7. Be Cautious with Pawn Moves
Pawns are the only pieces that cannot move backward, so think carefully before advancing them. Reckless pawn moves can create weaknesses in your defense, especially around your king. A solid pawn structure is crucial for a strong defense and effective control over the board.
8. Consider the Opponent’s Threats
Chess is not just about executing your own plans but also about responding to your opponent’s moves. Every time your opponent moves, take a moment to consider what they’re trying to accomplish. This habit will help you anticipate threats and avoid costly mistakes.
9. Practice Basic Tactics
Tactics are short-term sequences of moves that can give you a decisive advantage. Learning common tactics, such as forks, pins, skewers, and discovered attacks, can help you find clever ways to gain material or put your opponent in difficult positions. Practicing tactics can give you an edge even over more experienced players.
10. Analyze Your Games
After each game, especially if you’ve lost, take some time to review it. Look for mistakes, missed opportunities, and areas where you can improve. Many online chess platforms provide game analysis tools to help you understand your weaknesses and strengths. Reflecting on your games is one of the fastest ways to improve.
Final Note: Learning from a Grandmaster
For those serious about taking their chess skills to the next level, learning from an experienced player is invaluable. Grandmaster chess coach Valery Filippov offers online chess lessons tailored to players of all levels. His insights can help you understand complex strategies, refine your openings, and improve your endgame skills. With his guidance, you can progress faster and develop a solid foundation to enjoy chess at a higher level.

What you need to do:

Avoid unnecessary pawn behavior with the king.
KingCompiler teaches beginners the importance of king defense and how to balance offense and defence.
4. Avoid moving the same piece repeatedly in the opening Repetition wastes time and gives your opponent a progression advantage.

In KingCompiler, students use this model until they create a second product.
7. Understand the relative value of each piece Each piece has a specific value (e.g. Pawns = 1, Knights/Bishops = 3, Rooks = 5, Queens = 9). Understanding this helps you make better decisions about change.
