A ship dynamic I’m absolute obsessed with is a character designed to be a protagonist’s narrative foil who ends up as a love interest.

I adore this in cannon and honestly a lot of my ships reflect this as well.

They might be cursed. Like just in general. Last time I had Sims 4 installed I had cherik as sims. I also had Life Tragedies installed. Tell me why Charles kept getting kidnapped every time he went outside. I didn't force it, it just happened. And then the mod glitched and he got killed by the kidnappers. I've never exited a save so fast.

i’m in tears right now i’m high off my ass and made cherik in the sims but i made charles a vampire for some reason and then they had a beach wedding in the sun but then charles fucking died while they were saying their vows because sun kills vampires and i forgot

So I’ve been playing a lot of Sims the past few months, and I made Cherik (Charles is a marine biologist and Erik a merman, so it’s sorta based on my fic ‘Beneath the Surface’ ^^). 

Sadly, most screenshots were taken before I got my new computer with a better graphics card, so they’re all a little low-res, but well... 

They like playing chess a lot, those two ;-)

sim erik has a better relationship with the kids than sim charles

so im just imagining them with babies and erik trying to be the one to wake up every time they cry, the one always caring for them, trying to take over when charles is changing or feeding them. and charles just getting upset and annoyed because honestly erik, he can take care of the children too

Friendly (actual friendly not tumblr friendly) reminder that The Sims game exists and you can use it to make Charles and Erik lookalikes and make them act out stories, screenshot them and post them. Or just like, play God.

So... what are these "playchoices" things you're always talking about? Is it a video game? Is it like a dating sim? It sounds interesting but I have no idea what it is. Or what a dating sim is, actually.

Choices, aka Playchoices aka Choices: Stories You Play, is a mobile app. I have mine on my tablet, but I’m sure plenty of others have it on their phones. It’s essentially a collection of interactive stories - with ‘chapters’ and ‘books’ and everything. Most of the stories do involve romance in some way (even if it’s not supposed to be the main focus) so it’s kinda dating sim-y. It’s “free to play,” which of course means you might eventually have to spend real money on it, but personally, I think it’s worth it at least some of the time. It doesn’t afford quite as much freedom as a “Choose Your Own Adventure” type of story but, depending on the book, your choices do have very lasting consequences.

The genres of Books are all over the place - Romance, Mystery/Suspense, Horror, Comedy, High Fantasy, Modern Fantasy. Heck, there’s even a Harry Potter-esque story about a Magic School! There’s potentially something for everyone. And the writing of said books has only gotten better and better since they first launched the app (like four years ago? I think??).

And (as a fellow fanfic writer, I feel like you will appreciate this) there are so many, SO MANY, times I’ve wanted to take one of these stories and Fanfic It Up. I swear, I could Cherik any of these, lol.
