A snippet taken from the hypothetical dirtball groupchat.
I would have to assume it is mostly taken up by long protracted arguments between Cheevwut and Ohwitiil.

Cheevwut and Ohwihtiil: why do you keep hooking up?
These two are minor characters in the book I'm currently working on. Ohwitiil is Cheevwut's elderly manager, and the two often pair in spring, despite their clashing personalities.

Evicting some older Runaway to the Stars concept art from Patreon. These are some set-pieces and characters from the book I’m currently working on (which you can read the first 70 rough pages of, on Patreon, if that tickles your fancy.)
The device Idrisah wears turns the human approximation of Tiiliitian she speaks into live captions and synthesized audio, for the non-English-fluent avian interns and occasional Dominion of Tiiliit governmental workers who visit Ixion recycling plant. The human temps also sometimes need translation help for the work they do. Gillie does bug ferret translation and liaison for Ixion, but she “works from home” at her and Idrisah’s apartment block in the tiny habitat dome connected to the plant.
The temps that work at the plant tend to be oddballs without a lot of personal connections, since they enter contracts working in the middle of nowhere for between 3 months to a couple years. The permanent employees are even weirder.

do you have a pronunciation guide for the RttS cast's names anywhere?
Thank you to @silvokrent and @swamp-hag-uwu for help with the IPA! Talita (Tah-lee-tah) /taˈli.ta/ Gillie (Gih-lee) /’gɪ.li/ Idrisah (Ih-dree-sah) /ɪˈdɾi.sɑ/ Bip (Bip, rhymes with ship) /bɪp/ Shyam (Shee-ahm, but it's a one syllable diphthong) /ʃjam/ Guiomar (Ghee-oh-marr, hard g like ‘goat’) /ˈgio.mɑr/ Min/Mǐnwén/敏文 (In Chinese: Mǐn-wén. The Jovian English speaking characters call him “Min” like the first syllable of ‘minnow’) /mɪn/
The avian character names are just, made up, AND contain double tone sliding that’s impossible to pronounce without a syrinx. So don’t worry too much about accuracy here. The Jovian human characters pronounce them like this:
Sirawit (Seer-uh-weet) /sɪər.ʌˈwit/ Turii (Too-ree) /ˈtu.ɹi/ Cheevwut (Chay-vwuht) /tʃe:vwət/ Ohwitiil (Oh-wih-teel) /oʊ.wɪˈtil/ Wiwiip (Wee-Weep) /wiˈwip/
The names of the scuds from Terranaut are unpronounceable stridulatory noises and that’s why they don’t have vowels in them, but when I talk about them with my human mouth I call them these: Chkbrr (Chick-burr) /ˈtʃɪk.bɛr/ Rzzt-tt (Rizz- tit) /ˈɹɪz.tɪt/ Zzp-tp (Zip-tip) /ˈzɪp.tɪp/ Brr-kt (Burr-kit) /ˈbɛr.kɪt/ Tk-tk (Tik-tik) /ˈtɪk.tɪk/
If you’re wondering about a character’s name and it’s not on this list, ask me and I’ll tack it on.

[GIF Description: an animated GIF featuring Cheevwut from “Runaway to the Stars” by @jayrockin. Cheevwut is an Avian: an alien somewhat resembling a Velociraptor with elf ears and six eyes. They are wearing a grey hood with pink trim, and an orange shirt. Cheevwut is scratching their chin with a two-clawed hand when their cell phone, held in their other hand, pings. They open their eyes, and hold up the phone to take a look. End GIF description.]

I know IPA, so I’ll attempt to put ipa transcriptions (I’ll just do what one would do for the Scuds, that is pronounce them with syllabic sonorants where possible, I’ll put asterisks on the ones where that isn’t a possibility). I’m being more broad and not as nitpicky with this as I could get
/talita/ (real easy)
/gɪli/
/ɪdɾisɑ/
/bɪp/
/ʃjɑm/ (could also be represented with a palatalized beginning fricative instead of a fricative and an approximant)
/giomɑr/
/minwen/ (idk tones tbh and this ipa transcription not being as nitpicky as it could be already gives this an anglophone bias so) /mɪn/ for the nickname
I’m choosing to treat the doubled vowels in Avian names as long vowels, though Cheevwut is either a diphthong or a long vowel based on your transcription.
/siɾawit/
/tuɾi:/
Either /tʃe:vwʌt/ or /tʃeɪvwʌt/ (they’re quite similar anyways)
/Ohwɪti:l/, debatably /Owɪti:l/ for a lot of people unless they’re pronouncing that /hw/ as a cluster (a lot of languages don’t distinguish a glottal fricative h at the end of a syllable from a vowel)
/wi:wi:p/
The scuds I’m listing both an interpretation based on your pronunciation cue and one based on syllabic consonants
/tʃkbr/, /tʃɪkbr/ (I’m using the alveolar trill r since that’s both more probable a sound to be produced capable of being produced by stridulation without getting into click consonants. Also, the word burr can be analyzed as having a syllabic r and that’s easier on me finding things)
/rztt/, /rɪztɪt/
/zptp/, /zɪptɪp/
/brkt/, /brkɪt/
/tktk/, /tɪktɪk/
I’ll update this if need be, and keep in mind I’m not the best at ipa. I just have a debatably decent knowledge of it

Formal apology to the IPA nerds, I never learned how to use it and I probably never will. Talita (Tah-lee-tah) Gillie (Gih-lee) Idrisah (Ih-dree-sah) Bip (Bip, rhymes with ship) Shyam (Shee-ahm, but it's a one syllable diphthong) Guiomar (Ghee-oh-marr, hard g like ‘goat’) Min/Mǐnwén/敏文 (In Chinese: Mǐn-wén. The avian character names are just, made up, AND contain double tone sliding that’s impossible to pronounce without a syrinx. So don’t worry too much about accuracy here. The Jovian human characters pronounce them like this:
Sirawit (Seer-a-weet) Turii (Too-ree) Cheevwut (Chay-vwuht) Ohwitiil (Oh-wih-teel) Wii-wiip (Wee-Weep)
The names of the scuds from Terranaut are unpronounceable stridulatory noises and that’s why they don’t have vowels in them, but when I talk about them with my human mouth I call them these: Chkbrr (Chick-burr) Rzzt-tt (Rizz- tit) Zzp-tp (Zip-tip) Brr-kt (Burr-kit) Tk-tk (Tik-tik)
