This is not at all a new take on life here in the US of A however I feel as though I will peel my skin off if I don’t say it;
People are seeing death as a valid option to the current state of the world + the future and now I am fully understanding why.
There is no more ‘village’. There are no reliable social safety nets installed that are realistic or easy to access. You H A V E to drive EVERYWHERE if you’re even able to drive. If your area has a bus it has to fight on the road with every other driver. To get 9 miles away from point A to B takes 2 hour out of your day. No one is hiring or they are paying minimum wages for you to run their whole circus operation damn near by yourself. Average 1 bedroom apartments are $1.1k a month for 500 sqf and if you SOMEHOW get a roommate and get them to agree to split rent and utilities then y’all are going to battle for personal space. A 2 bed is out of the question bc there is no way in hell that you can save anything if you are spending more then half of your wages on rent. You want to go out and have a sense of what it means to be fulfilled as a human? Don’t even dream about it, you have your bills coming up.
Get a second or 3rd job? Wait… you were able to find one? They didn’t ghost? Lucky you; now you are better off & you can now sleep knowing that the 2nd job will be able to pay for the gas ($3+/gal), insurance (3X what it used to be but still making you open up ur wallet before they step in), and your car note! (Wayyy too much for a used).
What is fun? What are get togethers? What is a ‘cheap meal’? What’s a bucket list? What’s a vacation? What’s a hobby? Wait, you can afford to replace items and not get anxiety over it? You can afford more then an arm full of groceries?? Will you be able to retire by the time you’re 60 with enough money in the bank to not just exist, but to do the things you’ve always wanted to do during those working decades? What will elder and death care look like? Will your children be able to not live in poverty?
We as young people are seeing death as a valid option because we know we will NEVER see an adult life like those before us prior to the 90’s. Starting a family or adding on to your family will put you in poverty. Buying a house if you’re fortunate enough will put you in poverty. Renting will put you in poverty. Working more jobs will put you in poverty. Having a car will put you into poverty, not having one will keep you from ever getting one. We will just work and work to never ever have anything to show for it. This is not the lifestyle that I’d doom more life to do for the rest of their lives. Something’s gotta change sooner rather then later and it’s gotta be grass roots. We have to be willing to break some rules to get to where we need to be.
Things. Must. Change.

In the ongoing saga of what the everloving fuck is this past 13+ months and counting...
My husband came home with a new car today. Because he had no choice. Our car was having engine troubles and he had to take it to the dealership to get fixed. Except they could not fix it because the engine had been flooded in a way that made in unfixable. From Milton. It was 18 years old, and was a great car. (Get Honda Civic hybrids everyone, they're super reliable!) So I'm feeling sentimental about that.
My husband was able to get a lightly used 2022 Civic hybrid that comes with insurance for everything under the sun. He got home and immediately applied for both FEMA and to our insurance. I am sitting here praying they at least cover a sizeable chunk of it, or else we are in very deep shit. We were looking at a light at the end of the tunnel of being dead broke before this happened, but if the new car doesn't get covered, we're right back at the farthest end of it. Like, beef only on special occasions. Thank the gods Aldi has such cheap chicken.
(Am I more than annoyed today with the upper middle-class Tumblr people who are complaining that they can't buy whatever they want whenever they want? WHY YES.)

What would you want to tell the next U.S. president? FP asked nine thinkers from around the world to write a letter with their advice for him or her.
Dear Madam or Mr. President,
Congratulations on your election as president of the United States. You take office at a moment of enormous consequence for a world directly impacted by the twin challenges of energy security and climate change.
Democrats and Republicans disagree on many aspects of energy and climate policy. Yet your administration has the chance to chart a policy path forward that unites both parties around core areas of agreement to advance the U.S. national interest.
First, all should agree that climate change is real and worsening. The escalating threat of climate change is increasingly evident to anyone walking the streets of Phoenix in the summer, buying flood insurance in southern Florida, farming rice in Vietnam, or laboring outdoors in Pakistan. This year will almost certainly surpass 2023 as the warmest year on record.
Second, just as the energy revolution that made the United States the world’s largest oil and gas producer strengthened it economically and geopolitically, so will ensuring U.S. leadership in clean energy technologies enhance the country’s geostrategic position. In a new era of great-power competition, China’s dominance in certain clean energy technologies—such as batteries and cobalt, lithium, graphite, and other critical minerals needed for clean energy products—threatens America’s economic competitiveness and the resilience of its energy supply chains. China’s overcapacity in manufacturing relative to current and future demand undermines investments in the United States and other countries and distorts demand signals that allow the most innovative and efficient firms to compete in the global market.
Third, using less oil in our domestic economy reduces our vulnerability to global oil supply disruptions, such as conflict in the Middle East or attacks on tankers in the Red Sea. Even with the surge in U.S. oil production, the price of oil is set in the global market, so drivers feel the pain of oil price shocks regardless of how much oil the United States imports. True energy security comes from using less, not just producing more.
Fourth, energy security risks extend beyond geopolitics and require investing adequately in domestic energy supply to meet changing circumstances. Today, grid operators and regulators are increasingly warning that the antiquated U.S. electricity system, already adjusting to handle rising levels of intermittent solar and wind energy, is not prepared for growing electricity demand from electric cars, data centers, and artificial intelligence. These reliability concerns were evident when an auction this summer set a price nine times higher than last year’s to be paid by the nation’s largest grid operator to power generators that ensure power will be available when needed. A reliable and affordable power system requires investments in grids as well as diverse energy resources, from cheap but intermittent renewables to storage to on-demand power plants.
Fifth, expanding clean energy sectors in the rest of the world is in the national interest because doing so creates economic opportunities for U.S. firms, diversifies global energy supply chains away from China, and enhances U.S. soft power in rapidly growing economies. (In much the same way, the Marshall Plan not only rebuilt a war-ravaged Europe but also advanced U.S. economic interests, countered Soviet influence, and helped U.S. businesses.) Doing so is especially important in rising so-called middle powers, such as Brazil, India, or Saudi Arabia, that are intent on keeping their diplomatic options open and aligning with the United States or China as it suits them transactionally.
To prevent China from becoming a superpower in rapidly growing clean energy sectors, and thereby curbing the benefits the United States derives from being such a large oil and gas producer, your administration should increase investments in research and development for breakthrough clean energy technologies and boost domestic manufacturing of clean energy. Toward these ends, your administration should quickly finalize outstanding regulatory guidance to allow companies to access federal incentives. Your administration should also work with the other side of the aisle to provide the market with certainty that long-term tax incentives for clean energy deployment—which have bipartisan support and have already encouraged historic levels of private investment—will remain in place. Finally, your administration should work with Congress to counteract the unfair competitive advantage that nations such as China receive by manufacturing industrial products with higher greenhouse gas emissions. Such a carbon import tariff, as proposed with bipartisan support, should be paired with a domestic carbon fee to harmonize the policy with that of other nations—particularly the European Union’s planned carbon border adjustment mechanism.
Your ability to build a strong domestic industrial base in clean energy will be aided by sparking more domestic clean energy use. This is already growing quickly as market forces respond to rapidly falling costs. Increasing America’s ability to produce energy is also necessary to maintain electricity grid reliability and meet the growing needs of data centers and AI. To do so, your administration should prioritize making it easier to build energy infrastructure at scale, which today is the greatest barrier to boosting U.S. domestic energy production. On average, it takes more than a decade to build a new high-voltage transmission line in the United States, and the current backlog of renewable energy projects waiting to be connected to the power grid is twice as large as the electricity system itself. It takes almost two decades to bring a new mine online for the metals and minerals needed for clean energy products, such as lithium and copper.
The permitting reform bill recently negotiated by Sens. Joe Manchin and John Barrasso is a good place to start, but much more needs to be done to reform the nation’s permitting system—while respecting the need for sound environmental reviews and the rights of tribal communities. In addition, reforming the way utilities operate in the United States can increase the incentives that power companies have not just to build new infrastructure but to use existing infrastructure more efficiently. Such measures include deploying batteries to store renewable energy and rewiring old transmission lines with advanced conductors that can double the amount of power they move.
Grid reliability will also require more electricity from sources that are available at all times, known as firm power. Your administration should prioritize making it easier to construct power plants with advanced nuclear technology—which reduce costs, waste, and safety concerns—and to produce nuclear power plant fuel in the United States. Doing so also benefits U.S. national security, as Russia is building more than one-third of new nuclear reactors around the world to bolster its geostrategic influence. While Russia has been the leading exporter of reactors, China has by far the most reactors under construction at home and is thus poised to play an even bigger role in the international market going forward. The United States also currently imports roughly one-fifth of its enriched uranium from Russia. To counter this by building a stronger domestic nuclear industry, your administration should improve the licensing and approval process of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and reform the country’s nuclear waste management policies. In addition to nuclear power, your administration should also make it easier to permit geothermal power plants, which today can play a much larger role in meeting the nation’s energy needs thanks to recent innovations using technology advanced by the oil and gas sector for shale development.
Even with progress on all these challenges, it is unrealistic to expect that the United States can produce all the clean energy products it needs domestically. It will take many years to diminish China’s lead in critical mineral supply, battery manufacturing, and solar manufacturing. The rate of growth needed in clean energy is too overwhelming, and China’s head start is too great to diversify supply chains away from it if the United States relies solely on domestic manufacturing or that of a few friendly countries. As a result, diminishing China’s dominant position requires that your administration expand economic cooperation and trade partnerships with a vast number of other nations. Contrary to today’s protectionist trends, the best antidote to concerns about China’s clean technology dominance is more trade, not less.
Your administration should also strengthen existing tools that increase the supply of clean energy products in emerging and developing economies in order to diversify supply chains and counter China’s influence in these markets. For example, the U.S. International Development Finance Corp. (DFC) can be a powerful tool to support U.S. investment overseas, such as in African or Latin American projects to mine, refine, and process critical minerals. As DFC comes up for reauthorization next year, you should work with Congress to provide DFC with more resources and also change the way federal budgeting rules account for equity investments; this would allow DFC to make far more equity investments even with its existing funding. Your administration can also use DFC to encourage private investment in energy projects in emerging and developing economies by reducing the risk investors face from fluctuations in local currency that can significantly limit their returns or discourage their investment from the start. The U.S. Export-Import Bank is another tool to support the export of U.S. clean tech by providing financing for U.S. goods and services competing with foreign firms abroad.
Despite this country’s deep divisions and polarization, leaders of both parties should agree that bolstering clean energy production in the United States and in a broad range of partner countries around the world is in America’s economic and security interests.
I wish you much success in this work, which will also be the country’s success.

Sorry if this is a weird question, but how do you afford to live in LA? I’ve always wanted to live there but it’s apparently one of the most expensive places in the US to live.
it is definitely expensive (in the top five, last i checked), but it can be done! not particularly glamorously, but it can, haha. the number one reason i am able to make it work is because i am fortunate enough to have a roommate who is also my best friend—we’re able to split the cost of rent and utilities and chip in for each other if the other is struggling. (we both have pretty steady jobs, but in industries that can fluctuate throughout the year.)
i also do not have a car, which saves me a really good amount on gas and insurance, which can be quite high here. our metro is not extensive like, say, new york’s, but it is pretty reliable and serviceable and safe, and quite affordable, especially with the low-income passes they offer. the subway doesn’t go to a ton of places, so how useful that is is very dependent on your neighborhood, but i am a huge fan of the bus system.
which, speaking of location, is my next piece of advice—costs of living can vary significantly in LA from one neighborhood to the next, so it is worth exploring all the options. i live in the city proper, but in a sort of in-between neighborhood—it has a famous name and attracts a lot of tourists, but it’s also considered kind of unfashionable by locals, so the costs aren’t totally killer.
my last thought on this is that, as expensive as LA is, there is also a lot about it that makes the costs comparatively worthwhile. there’s a lot to be said for living in a city where you do not need a car to get by, and can still get yourself to the mountains or the beach or the desert within a few hours and on the cheap when you need a little break. yes, the rent is too damn high, but the minimum wage is $17.28, over twice the federal and almost 1.5 times that of the state i was born in. (if you’re in the hospitality industry, it’s higher still!)
and, this is not LA-specific, more about california broadly, but given the current political atmosphere in the united states, i cannot overemphasize the good it does for my mental health to live in a reliably blue state that prides itself on progressive values and loves bringing lawsuits against bullshit executive orders on a regular basis. what i pay extra in cost of living is made up for in my lack of therapy bills.

Hihi! I saw u had a wheelchair thats both manual and electric. Can I ask what brand and model it is and how you like it? I was considering saving up for one someday and I'm just wondering how heavy it is, if its easy to maneuver, etc. Thank you!!
sure thing!
my wheelchair is a Hover Model H, which I ordered from 1800wheelchair's website at the end of 2019. I'm not able to locate the product on their website at this time, but I believe at the time I paid about $2k for mine, including an additional larger battery and the bar handle addition on the back. (I did have some customer service issues with the extra battery, fair warning if you do have to order from them.)
I think it was the only hybrid option available at the time, and not legally considered a medical device therefore not eligible for insurance coverage, but I think in the 5 years since they've started to become a tiny bit more common so this may be changing.
it weighs about 50lbs, and folds in one direction, as well as having the ability to flip the back rest down. it fits comfortably in a closet when folded, and fit in the trunk of my wife's old subaru outback just fine. (I haven't tested it in her new crosstrek yet, which is a little bit smaller.)
in order to toggle it from manual mode to power mode, there are two little levers underneath, one for each wheel. they are a little difficult to reach while seated, but it is still doable for me, an ambulatory user of small to average size. (these levers do sometimes "trip" when the wheelchair is folded up and subjected to a car ride, which will lock the wheel. also I've noticed that sometimes one of the levers won't fully engage the first time I flip it, which usually resolves itself by disengaging and then reengaging it and/or manually rolling that wheel until it catches.)
I generally use power when I'm on long straightaways (like going along a street) and switch to manual for prioritizing maneuverability over speed (like inside a store). I think it's about as maneuverable as any manual chair of similar size when used manually, and for me it is not that difficult to toggle between powered and manual to navigate tight spaces. I also generally switch to manual for backing up, as it has a loud backup beeper (that also beeps when turning on the power unit and changing the speed of the chair). I've been meaning to crack it open to disable the beeper, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
it met my needs really well when I lived in an apartment with an elevator, as it allowed me to move under my own power as much as I could physically tolerate without stranding myself, as I could use the battery to get home again.
it's too heavy for me to reliably carry back up the stairs in my walkup, so I've mostly been using a cheap transport wheelchair (when accompanied) or my rollator (when out alone). I'm sure whenever I eventually move somewhere with an accessible entrance I'll start using it more often again.
I'm happy to answer any other questions you have if I missed any details you were hoping for!

What it feels like trying to get help for disabilities (in my experience)
Please note: This is based on my own personal experience with my physical disabilities, and with my car, lol. This is not meant to cover everyone's experience
tl;dr My experience trying to get help for my physical disabilities has been like trying to get your brakes fixed for your car, but somehow, nobody believes they're broken until it's too late.
Imagine you drive a car every day. One day you notice your brakes are not working as they should, basically you need to hit the brakes multiple times before they work - also known as pumping the brakes. Maybe this is a new experience, maybe you drove someone else's car and noticed they didn't need to do this. But for whatever reason you notice that your brakes are not working as they should.
You take your car to the mechanic and you tell them the situation. Instead of taking your car into the shop and checking it out, instead they ask some very weird questions that aren't related at all to the brakes: "What type of oil do you use?" "Do you buy the expensive gas or the cheap gas?" "What type of windshield washer fluid do you use?" "How full are your tires?"
You answer them anyways because, you aren't a mechanic so maybe those questions are related in some way you don't know. But after answering they basically tell you that you're doing all those things wrong, and don't even look at your car.
You are majorly frustrated but you try those things anyways. They don't help, as expected. You return to the mechanic and explain that changing those things did not help the brakes. You expect they will finally look this time. But they don't. Instead they say: "Well how did you drive here if your brakes don't work"?
You're angry at this point, they're clearly being unreasonable. You demand they look at your car because that's the entire reason you're here. They look at the car for a few seconds, and tell you there's nothing wrong and you should stop worrying.
You're extremely mad at this point, and your brakes are getting less trustworthy. You go to a different mechanic. They do the same thing. You finally find a mechanic who will look at the car, but they also say they don't see anything wrong with the brakes.
You've spent hundreds to thousands of dollars on mechanics at this point. You're absolutely sick of this. You start using your hand brake as it's the only reliable brake in your car, but you also know this is dangerous.
Eventually you get into a situation where the brakes fail completely, and you can't reach the handbrake fast enough. You swerve off the road into a ditch. Nobody is hurt but the car is totaled. The insurance asks why you didn't get the brakes fixed. And you scream at them.

Midwest Monday!
How each (Midwestern) state responds to scam calls
Illinois: Abruptly hanging up the phone. He doesn’t have time, patience, energy, or will to deal with this. As a kid he might have played along, giving a fake name like "Mr. Hugh Wang-Kerr"; as a teen he would have made threats to the spammer, but as an adult he likes to keep the line free for business opportunities and ladies in strapless dresses (for some reason, though, they never keep the line free for him…)
Indiana: Specifically answers to say "what do you want" and hangs up. Sometimes does this while driving. It’s quite concerning to those who share the road with her. Everyone wonders why she picks up if she knows she’s going to be hanging up within two seconds, but nobody has ever asked her directly why she does this. Indiana's response to scammers is an enigma and— INDI KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD!
Iowa: WHAT? HUH?! He'll call you back, he says — and by that he means meet him at the Flying J later if you have something to say to him. He might be a strapping and toned young man — the type you’d think is attractive until you get close enough to smell that True Farmer Boy Whiff — but he’s an old boomer in terms of technology. He owns a LG 5450 for "business calls" and an iPhone 5 because his friends begged him to get a real phone, yet his monthly screen time is about forty two seconds.
Kansas: How do these people keep getting her number? She once took her grievances directly to the cell phone tower, but that wasn’t resolved the way she wanted it to be resolved. Kansas has a very communal way of fixing her scam call woes: If there’s anyone around her in the vicinity, she’s all up in their face. "Hey, do you know anything about how to get rid of these dang calls? Is there, like, a button I press or somethin'?" Oklahoma once told her to chuck it into a tornado. They haven’t spoken as of late.
Michigan: Are you calling about getting your car fixed by him? He’s told you a thousand times, these new cars and their computers have got to go. Oh, you’re not? Well, why are you bothering him? "We've called you about your car's extended warranty—" Oh have you? Have you now? Nah. He’s not buying it. Get off the line right this second or else he'll reach so far under your hood that you’ll be seeing via LIDAR until Teslas are reliable.
Minnesota: Poor Minnesota, easily flustered and not one to Karen around. Half the time, she’s not sure if it’s a scam call of if it’s genuine, and she doesn’t want to be too quick to judge. She'll sit there on the line for a couple of minutes to really gauge the situation, adding in a few "uh-huhs" and "mmms" until the time is right. Then — ope! There’s someone at the door! — or, — ope! My casserole is ready". Half the time, it’s not even a lie!
Missouri: The good thing about Missouri is that he likes good, cheap, reliable things — cell phones included. He has a Sonim XP8, meaning that every time a scammer (and this extends to tax collectors, insurance agents, and Oklahoma — "Seriously, Okie, go bother someone else!" —) gives him a ring, he just throws his phone at the nearest wall and picks it up after it’s stopped ringing. Concerned? Don’t be. The Sonim is designed for that type of treatment. There’s no point in buying something if you can’t huck it.
Nebraska: When she got her first scam call, Nebraska was quite surprised — she was under the impression that this sort of thing would never happen to her! She ushered over Minnesota, who begged her to be kind (oh, Minnesota — the trouble you go through), but Nebraska had heard too much about funny responses to scammers and wanted to try some out on her own. From inventing fake and morbid businesses to pretending to be in the mafia, Nebraska has demonstrated quite the creative streak when it comes to answering scam calls.
North Dakota: He doesn’t give much thought to the matter. He barely answers these calls. Sometimes it’s a one word "no" or a two word "go away", but NoDak works in silence when it comes to scam calls. Why give it time or energy?
Ohio: Aww, yeah! It’s his time to shine! He acts as though he’s in a Broadway musical or an award-winning Hollywood hit. He doesn’t want the fame and fortune that this career demands — no, he just wants the feeling of pride and superiority he gets from completely destroying the competition. He’s mustered up some quite imaginative responses to scam calls, and has concerned quite a few of the callers. His insurance company isn’t too happy with him, because he took it a step further and started doing it to them, too. Good thing they’ve got a lawyer…
South Dakota: Like Ohio and Nebraska, he has quite the enthusiasm to answer in funny and offbeat ways, but unfortunately, he’s got a brother to the north to put some sense into him. "No, SoDak, don’t answer the phone." "No, you’re not being stupid today." Dang it, NoDak, why do you have to steal his thunder? Can’t a state do anything fun? Saying funny things to scam callers isn’t even illegal this time!
Wisconsin: What's that? Wisconsin, pick up the phone! Or is she busy again, screaming over some sports game. What game could she even be this enthusiastic over? Does she even have any major sports teams? Regardless, that phone is not getting answered in a timely manner. Does she even hear it? Wisconsin? Wisconsin, we've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty! Wisconsin! Wisconsin! Nothing. Damn.

If I may make a prayer request, I've been crippled by anxiety. I've been in a few nasty car wrecks just a few years apart from one another, and the experience has left me with such severe anxiety around driving, I can't bring myself to do it anymore. It's been three years now that I've driven a car. I still ride in cars with others, but I get so tense over the slightest thing, it makes me fear that if I wear to just try and push through and do it again, any tiny little thing would set off a mini panic attack and I'd cause a wreck. It's awful. I feel like a burden on my loved ones who I have to rely on to go places, and I'm severely limited in job prospects bc I can't drive. It doesn't help that I don't have access to a reliable vehicle to practice anyway, plus outrageous gas prices add another layer of challenge. Please, I feel this is getting in the way of so much in my life, and that most of my other problems would clear up if I could just drive again. It's freedom and independence that I just don't have access to because of my own disordered brain and it's getting in the way of everything. I don't have access to therapy either, and have very little money (again, can't get a job because I can't drive). I just want to be able to get behind the wheel of a car and actually enjoy the process of driving and not freak out if something happens. Cautious but not in a panicky way. Confident but not in a cocky way. Alert but not in a way that's exhausting. Sorry this is so long. Thank you for reading. 🙏🏻
I know this exact feeling and that situation of not having a lot of money. I caused my second car accident in a thunderstorm when I was sharing my mom’s car before I bought my own. The people all around who were witnessing laughed at me and took off. I panicked so much I couldn’t breathe. It meant a mark could be on my insurance and my mom’s for at least 6 years. On top of that I had to rent a car out of my own pocket and give even more to my parents. I was scared that the driver of the other car could drive around to find me or worse, sue me. I was afraid to leave my bedroom. I was scared it would happen again. I felt like I was burden too. As crazy as that sounds, those were real feelings I felt. I had no money for therapy either the only thing that calmed me was God. It took me a while to get over my fear of being on the road again, but I had to keep my job too. Perhaps if you are lucky enough you could carpool with someone for a while or take public transportation (which is very cheap sometimes)…there is also Uber but that can be pricy. You could try this until you get over your fear if that is possible. Keep in mind that it is freedom to drive, that could be your motivation. Take it day by day and don’t be too hard on yourself. I will pray for you.

How Will the Car Sharing Apps Redefine Transportation in Cities - Technology Org
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/how-will-the-car-sharing-apps-redefine-transportation-in-cities-technology-org/
How Will the Car Sharing Apps Redefine Transportation in Cities - Technology Org
Car-sharing apps have revolutionized urban transport and have impacted every urban resident’s everyday traveling system. For example, the contemporary versions of these transport models are cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and reliable.
This article takes a detailed examination of the car-sharing apps and the impact they have on changing and reshaping urbanity.

Evolution of Urban Transportation
Traditional urban transport suffered several problems, including jamming, air pollution, and cumbersome transit systems. However, some alternatives or additional measures include ride-sharing through apps such as Lyft, Uber, and Zipcar.
Cheap, modern, and flexible alternative modes of transport. Space utilization optimization, for instance, through ride-sharing services, makes fewer cars fuller and, thus, less jammed on the roads.
In urban cities, sharing apps can quickly transport people, decreasing personal vehicle ownership and easing traffic jams. These platforms are often associated with metro transport systems, thereby giving commuters mixed transit modes.
Advantages of Car-Sharing Apps
Car-sharing apps have revolutionized transport access, resulting in considerable environmental and urban mobility implications. For example, apps are designed to serve people with shared cars to increase accessibility, economy, reduced city traffic, environmental friendliness, and various vehicle models.
In densely populated cities with few parking spaces, some apps make it possible to rent a car via mobile phone. Such applications improve accessibility and convenience compared to having an individual auto. Users will never experience any maintenance-related difficulties since it is not required, and they will not confront parking problems when wanting to find a “vehicle on demand.”
More so, they help improve value for money because a client only gets chargers based on usage rather than car ownership, including insurance coverage and repairs. Likewise, these help reduce traffic jams and private car-related pollution along the roadways. Converted from AI-written to human-written
Like other car-sharing applications, it also helps the environment by offering an electrical/hybrid model, which decreases overall carbon discharge. The company includes several options on car alternatives that one can select based on his own needs, whether they are cheap cars for short rides or bigger cars for long journeys.
Impact on Urban Infrastructure
Measures such as reducing dependence on personal cars and leveraging public parks and public transport extensively impact improved urban infrastructure. Such a move minimizes the traffic jams experienced in an area, reduces air pollution, and encourages eco-friendly transport.
Therefore, cities could enhance accessibility, reduce carbon emissions, and make the city greener if they encourage public transport, biking, and walking as alternatives to private cars and ensure the multifunctional character of the limited number of car parks.
Societal Implications
Major transformations of urban social geography involve new trends in travel patterns, improved mobility options for underprivileged areas, and social issues such as gentrification, which has impacted communities.
This evolution cross-cuts and reconfigures life, job, and interpersonal relations in every way; the aftereffects of this developmental path need to be looked into.
Changes in Commuting Behaviors
Technology and new work patterns are changing their traditional commuting models. Digital tools, flexible schedules, and the possibility to work at home are changing commuting into a city and determining the number of people who spend days in the week or weekends, depending on these categories and affecting traffic volume on roads and public transport.
Accessibility Improvements for Underserved Areas
Firstly, access entails physical infrastructure and technology links. It involves intra-transport issues and providing better digital access towards increased community development, economic participation, and reducing disparities. Socio-Economic Impact on Communities
This change results in working attitudes, economic opportunities, and societal behaviors. Wealth redistribution via remoteness and economic growth through increased accessibility could widen some inequalities, highlighting the importance of such a policy.
Challenges and Considerations
These raise other safety, regulation, privacy, and maintenance issues alongside equity and accessibility issues.
Regulatory, Privacy, and Maintenance Concerns
Regulatory Challenges: The technology frequently works under tremendous pressure to adjust to modifications. Nevertheless, the hurdle of fashioning and enforcing even-handed measures that support creativity but protect people from safety and information dangers remains a thorny endeavor.
Privacy Concerns: The higher the level of technology in our lives, the more critical it becomes to safeguard our privacy. Privacy laws and innovations constantly require balancing on issues relating to information collection.
Addressing Equity and Accessibility Issues
Digital Divide: Digital divides result from existing disparities in access to technology and the internet, limiting education access, prospects for employment, and critical service channels. It implies that concerted efforts should be aimed at narrowing down this gap through equitable allocation of such resources in all communities.
Accessibility Concerns: Technology should integrate everybody’s rights. While this could be pretty difficult to guarantee, fair treatment of society is critical for engagement.
Future Prospects and Innovations
Autonomous vehicles and partnerships between city planners and technology innovators are two transforming factors shaping the future of transport.
Technological Advancements & Autonomous Vehicles
With these significant developments in AI, sensors, and connectivity, there is an opportunity to develop self-driven vehicles that will ensure a safer and more convenient transport system. For wide-scale adoption, there has to be a way of dealing with such challenges as regulation and essential infrastructures.
Collaboration for Sustainable Mobility
Innovators in tech work with cities dealing with congestion and environmental problems, developing innovative green transport solutions. The city’s urban plan involving independent cars helps decongest people’s traffic movements.
This combination of autonomous technology with collaborative urban planning will be a breakthrough for transforming transport systems regarding safety, efficiency, and environmental sustainability.
Conclusion
Car-sharing applications have transformed how people move around cities, providing cheaper, greener, and more accessible options than traditional ways of travel. Such applications have changed cities where they have de-congested roads, improved accessibility, and minimized environmental issues in shared transportation measures.
In this respect, embracing the ongoing technological revolution, particularly regarding self-driving cars, and promoting partnerships and joint initiatives among urban designers and tech pioneers will define the way forward for transportation.
I would advise you to visit Dyler, an online platform specializing in finding new transportation methods and a love for classic, sports, and luxury cars.
These automobile miracles are displayed on Dylers’ platform, where the lovers of immortal cars hang out.

On the car one, A little story. I used to do volunteer work, so you'd hear from other people who did a lot more and different types then you. I was told that there was a local lady who would show up to get things from the foodbank in a really nice, older model Porsche Cayenne. You know, high end luxury SUV, but like, a late 2000s model. Everyone grumbled that she should sell it if she was so poor. Did you know that the base model Cayenne tends to tank like a rock in value after a few years? These people didn't. Well, my co-worker (Co-volunteer?) had actually asked her, It had been her deceased husbands, and after he passed she'd found out how little money he actually had, so much of everything was debt, maxed out credit cards, so there wasn't exactly a lot left after they divvied up the assets. She'd not really worked while with him, had been doing the stay at home mom thing, so she was having troubles. But she had the car. And it had been in for maintenance on schedule the whole time they had owned it. As she put it, why would she sell something that 1. had been her husbands and one of the few things left to her and 2. was in perfect working order? Like, yes, she could have sold it and bought a cheaper car, but then there would be all the money to make that cheap car reliable. And after you figure for that, all the taxes involved, fees for changing around insurance, etc, She would have gotten... maybe a few thousand dollars. And a Shittier car. Not the massive payout people were saying. And for what? To fit that perfect little ideal of "looking poor"? And knowing that once she sells it, its likely she's never going to get that nice car again?
I guess friendly reminder that you can't actually judge someone's socioeconomic status based on what they own and the classic republican "they can't be poor they own a smart phone/computer" argument doesn't suddenly stop being complete out of touch nonsense when a poor person makes it.
Anyway insert "y'all can't be trusted to eat the rich bcs you'll target taco bell shift leaders and people with playstations instead of actual billionaires" post here.

How to Choose the Right Automobile Shipping Company in the USA
Transporting a vehicle across the country can be stressful if you don’t choose the right automobile shipping USA company. With so many auto transport providers available, it’s essential to select a company that is reliable, experienced, and affordable.
At Rapid Auto Shipping, we understand that your vehicle is a valuable asset, and ensuring its safe and timely delivery is our priority. This guide will help you identify key factors to consider when selecting an automobile shipping company so you can make an informed decision.
1. Research the Company’s Reputation
The first step in choosing a reliable automobile shipping USA company is to research its reputation. A well-reviewed and established company is more likely to provide professional and secure vehicle transport.
Where to Check Reviews:
✔ Google Reviews – Look for companies with high ratings and positive customer experiences. ✔ Better Business Bureau (BBB) – Check for accreditation and any complaints filed. ✔ Trustpilot & Yelp – Read independent reviews to get an unbiased perspective. ✔ Social Media – Many companies showcase their services and customer feedback on platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
🚨 Red Flag: Avoid companies with numerous unresolved complaints, low ratings, or a lack of online presence.
2. Verify Licensing & Insurance
A legitimate automobile shipping USA company must be properly licensed and insured to operate. This ensures that your vehicle is in safe hands.
How to Verify a Company's Legitimacy:
✅ Check FMCSA Registration – The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulates auto transporters. You can verify the company’s USDOT (U.S. Department of Transportation) number on the FMCSA website. ✅ Confirm Insurance Coverage – Reputable companies should provide proof of cargo insurance, ensuring your vehicle is covered in case of damage.
🚨 Red Flag: If a company is hesitant to provide DOT number or insurance details, they may not be legitimate.
3. Compare Prices & Understand Hidden Fees
Auto shipping costs vary depending on factors like distance, vehicle type, and transport method. Always get multiple quotes before deciding.
Typical Automobile Shipping USA Costs:
📍 Short Distance (0-500 miles) → $500 - $1,200 📍 Medium Distance (500-1,500 miles) → $750 - $1,800 📍 Long Distance (1,500+ miles) → $1,200 - $2,500+
🚨 Red Flag: Beware of unrealistically low quotes—some companies lure customers with cheap rates and then increase the price after booking.
4. Understand Different Shipping Options
Choosing the right shipping method can impact the cost, safety, and convenience of your vehicle transport.
Types of Automobile Shipping:
🚗 Open Carrier Transport – The most affordable option, commonly used for standard cars. 🚙 Enclosed Carrier Transport – Offers protection for luxury, classic, and exotic cars but costs more. 🏡 Door-to-Door Transport – Provides ultimate convenience, delivering the vehicle directly to your address. 🏢 Terminal-to-Terminal Transport – A cheaper option where the vehicle is picked up and dropped off at a shipping terminal.
🚨 Red Flag: A company that doesn’t offer multiple transport options may not have the flexibility to meet your needs.
5. Check Delivery Timelines & Guarantees
Delivery times can vary depending on distance, weather, and transport routes. Before booking, ask for an estimated timeframe.
Typical Auto Shipping Transit Times:
🚗 0-500 miles → 1-3 days 🚗 500-1,500 miles → 3-7 days 🚗 1,500+ miles → 7-14 days
🚨 Red Flag: Be cautious of companies that guarantee exact delivery dates, as unexpected delays can occur.
6. Evaluate Customer Support & Communication
A good automobile shipping company should have excellent customer service to keep you informed throughout the shipping process.
What to Look for in Customer Support:
📞 24/7 Availability – Assistance at any time. 📍 Real-Time Tracking – Allows you to monitor your car’s location. 💬 Clear Communication – The company should provide transparent pricing, policies, and updates.
🚨 Red Flag: Companies that are difficult to reach or unresponsive could cause unnecessary stress and delays.
7. Look for Extra Services & Benefits
A top automobile shipping company should offer additional services that enhance your shipping experience.
🔹 Expedited Shipping – For urgent transport needs. 🔹 Discounts – Military, student, and senior discounts. 🔹 Insurance Coverage – Comprehensive protection for your car. 🔹 Flexible Payment Options – Secure and convenient payment methods.
At Rapid Auto Shipping, we provide customized solutions to meet all automobile shipping needs.
8. Get a Written Contract
Before finalizing your booking, ensure you receive a written contract outlining: ✅ Total cost (with no hidden fees) ✅ Pickup and delivery dates ✅ Insurance details ✅ Cancellation policies
🚨 Red Flag: Avoid companies that refuse to provide a formal contract or change terms after booking.

Reliable Vehicle Delivery Solutions in California
Tumblr media
When it comes to transporting your vehicle, reliability is key. Whether you're relocating, buying a car from out of state, or need to send a vehicle across California, choosing the right delivery service is essential. The state of California, known for its vast landscape and busy highways, offers many vehicle delivery options. However, to ensure a smooth, hassle-free experience, you need to find the best car shipping services in California. In this blog, we’ll explore reliable vehicle delivery solutions available to Californians and what you should look for in a trustworthy car shipping service.
Why Choose Professional Vehicle Delivery?
Transporting a car on your own can be a stressful and time-consuming task, especially when dealing with long distances or a high-end vehicle. Professional vehicle delivery services provide peace of mind, ensuring that your car arrives safely, efficiently, and on time. Whether you're shipping a luxury vehicle or a simple family car, professional carriers have the expertise and equipment to handle different types of vehicles, offering safe transportation across vast distances.
Key Considerations for Reliable Vehicle Delivery in California
Choosing the best car shipping services in California is not always straightforward. To ensure you’re getting the best deal, consider these factors when selecting a vehicle delivery provider:
1. Reputation and Reviews
When it comes to vehicle delivery, reputation is everything. Look for companies with positive customer reviews and a track record of successful deliveries. Reliable services will have testimonials from satisfied customers, whether they’re individuals shipping a single car or dealerships needing bulk transport. Checking online reviews and ratings on third-party websites is a great way to gauge the reliability of a service.
2. Experience in the Industry
The longer a vehicle delivery company has been in business, the more experience they have in handling various types of transportation needs. An experienced car shipping service will understand the nuances of California's roads, weather conditions, and regulations. This experience will help ensure that your car is transported in the safest and most efficient way possible.
3. Types of Services Offered
Not all car shipping services are the same. Some companies specialize in open-air transport, while others provide enclosed car shipping for added protection. The best car shipping services in California offer a range of options, including door-to-door delivery, terminal-to-terminal shipping, and expedited shipping for those who need their vehicle delivered quickly.
4. Insurance Coverage
Accidents and unforeseen events can happen, even with the best planning. Always ensure that the vehicle delivery service you choose provides sufficient insurance coverage. A reliable service will offer full insurance to cover any damages that might occur during transport, giving you peace of mind that your vehicle is protected.
5. Affordable Pricing
While it’s tempting to go for the lowest-priced option, it’s important to strike a balance between cost and quality. Extremely cheap services may cut corners when it comes to insurance or safety, while overly expensive ones may offer more features than you need. The best car shipping services in California provide transparent pricing, with no hidden fees, and offer fair rates based on the type of service and distance.
6. Timeliness and Communication
Timely delivery is crucial, especially when you're working within a specific timeframe. A reliable vehicle delivery service will give you an estimated delivery window and communicate with you regularly about your vehicle’s status. Timely delivery combined with open lines of communication ensures a smooth experience from start to finish.

California residents have access to some of the best car shipping services in the country. A few popular options include:
1. Montway Auto Transport
