Opposites Detract AU part 2
I left some things out but here’s a clearer picture of what the rest of the story would have been like.
Pls read the og post right here
https://www.tumblr.com/grilledcheese-savage/763805500110487552/new-au-idea-opposites-detract-i-came-up-with-this
For some reason it won’t let me link it normally
Ok so as you can see in the picture, Marinette is Multimouse… but is that all she is?
For the first “season” or less, she is a civilian. She is free to live her life normally without having to take any unnecessary risks. Until she runs into this old man (master fu) and helps him out. I always thought this would be during feast or a situation like that, where either he’s in turtle hero form and she acts as a shield for him, or helps him like the first episode as a civilian. Either way, Master fu remembers this. He tests her more than he did chat noir and la coccinelle because it turned out pretty poor last time. He has paranoia. But Marinette is a pure soul so he leads her to his shop and reveals the miraculous to her eventually, UNBEKNOWNST TO CHAT NOIR AND LA COCCINELLE. Because while he was hoping the next guardian would have been ladybug, he needed a person he could truely trust. And that turned out to be Marinette. She becomes the guardian for the same reasons in the original, it becomes to dangerous for him to continue and he loses his memory. But Marinette continues to work in his shop (a cover for guardian duties).
Lila and Adrien also “work” at his antique shop but neither of them know she’s the new guardian (yet) I’m not sure if they’d find out immediately after master fu has to quit, or Marinette keeps up the charade a little longer. I think it’s more fun to imagine her knowing more than she let on.
When she meets master fu at first and starts training under him, she doesn’t get to keep a miraculous. She works under a lot more conditions than the others do since her job keeping secrets is incredibly important and fu still struggles to trust her. Eventually she proves herself of course, but the pressure of being guardian is so much to handle.
Adrien was going to be a guardian at first since he gained more of Fu’s trust than Lila, but since he has the Kwami of destruction, just like that other guardian man that I can’t remember the name of, they all have some kind of bias against them. He couldn’t trust him not to take the miraculous of the ladybug and grant a wish, even if he kept that from him. He also just doesn’t get along with La coccinelle at all, so he couldn’t have someone with a bias be guardian (he’s hypocritical).
More about Adrien: As cat noir he doesn’t get to be his flirtatious persona he originally has, instead he takes on a more serious altruistic approach since he is pretty hated unanimously by the public. His persona becomes more of a lie, as he tries to undo all of the hatred that came from the destruction of Paris that first day. Think of goro akechi in persona 5; he learns to distain his constant visual presence, the fact on and off the job he is constantly being watched. There’s not a moment that either one of his selves is on tv. And because he’s being filmed there are quick moments the news capture of him being kind to the public and turning around with a resentful face on. He doesn’t totally get to enjoy his freedom as chat noir since the police always try to capture him. But they fail to, and there’s a still a small few of fans of theirs that defend them.
Basically he gets cancelled a lot. 😅
La coccinelle is allowed to pick a miraculous to help her ONE TIME by Master fu, and she picked Chloe Bougeious with the bee miraculous. Chloe accepted and caused a lot of mayhem. Which was fixed. But after that was when he met Marinette and started planning defense and strategy with her. So the next time they needed help, he sent Marinette as multimouse which pissed Lila off because it made her think master fu still didn’t believe she could handle it. When really it was a mix of both not trusting her, and the fact that Marinette was prepared for a lot longer then she was.
This makes lila have a one-sided beef with multimouse, even though she’s secretly her civilian crush Marinette. Love square? Ehh. What Lila doesn’t realize is behind the scenes Marinette doesn’t hold any ill-will for Coccinelle. In fact, she defends her to master fu and convinces him to give Lila more freedom more often. But of course, doesn’t know this. And the unspoken beef continues.
Now, for Kagami and Luka’s place in this story.
While Marinette is a civilian she meets Luka and they become friends very quickly. Same with Adrien and kagami. But at this point in time, Adrien doesn’t really have a crush on kagami, since the slippery slope of coincidences caused Adrien to have a crush on Marinette first. Kagami however seems to be the only one who sees this darkness brewing in Adrien (emo I know, but I digress) Kagami, does in fact, gain a crush on Adrien because she thinks he’s like her- lost in this world, without a lot of friends to help.
Luka and Marinette however, still get together but after Marinette becomes a guardian. They don’t last very long because of this, because her constant work between the bakery, the antique shop, guardianship etc. makes her late to everything they plan to do together. Luka ends things believing that Marinette only likes him as a friend and that’s why she puts work ahead of him everytime. This breaks Marinette’s heart, even though she understands, so she accidentally ends up saying in front of Adrien that she’s not dating anymore, and is focusing on her career. Marinette is oblivious to the fact that both lila and Adrien have a crush on her.
Marinette sees that Luka is responsible and puts his feelings aside for the greater good and chooses him to have the snake miraculous part time. When she is multimouse, she’s pretty awkward around him since things left off kind of sad, but since Superion doesn’t know that Marinette is multimouse, he just assumes she’s shy or doesn’t like him. This is obviously not true. In fact, Luka becomes the more “chat noir” type in this, teasing the group and very lightly flirting with her. BECAUSE IT WOULD BE FUNNY AND UNPREDICTABLE. I see him being very suave with his harp. Like every musician is lol.
Kagami and Adrien don’t work out either, because deep down, even if he is getting more resentful of being pushed around and molded into a person he doesn’t know, he still is naturally kind hearted and knows that his resentment won’t last….. hopefully. And Kagami only has that, and fencing in common with him, at least in this universe so they stay friends. Plus she meets Felix anyways.
Speaking of Felix. He.. generally stays the same? Here’s the difference, when he say them on the news on day he judged them. Then when he saw/ met more of chat noir, he started to believe that they were like him and saw the world the same way as he did and starts to commit similar atrocities in the show with the peacock miraculous in hopes that since they were the same, they’d leave him be.
Since chat noir is growing increasingly disdainful, he more or less does want to leave him alone, but the part of him that knows it’s his duty wins every time since he is , still, a little more responsible in this than the show.
Also a reminder, Adrien doesn’t start out like this, he’s still the show’s version at the beginning, he just changes with every situation they find themselves in. So when Felix eventually comes to meet him, he assumes Adrien is the same as always- a goody two shoes who does what he’s told. That couldn’t be further from the truth 😂
Adrien is similar to Felix but still mostly tries to act like his old self, since it’s easier and gets him places. But when Felix comes over and is cold, Adrien gets frustrated and his resentful, chat noir self comes to life. Felix was so stunned by the slip up that he just, shut up. And left. Very confused.
Anyways I have many different ways of imagining Felix seeing the more contemptuous Adrien. He becomes much more interested in him. He wants to learn more, because maybe he’s not alone.
Idk what do you guys think? Should Adrien be the guardian? What would Alya’s role be? Pls reblog more ideas and add on to the AU!
Thanks!

I wanted to redesing and rewrite Miraculous for a while. Then thought why not share my ideas so here is Chloé Bourgeois. (Duddeee I forgor the wingss?? 💀)
In my rewriting, power system is different. I will explain it on my further posts. Here I want to tell you more about my version of Chloé aka Queen Bee.
Chloé’s character is similar to show version. (First two seasons) Mommy issues, struggling with social relationships, bully… The difference is I keep the redemption arc :D In my version Ladybug and Chat Noir get their miraculouses when they were in high school. But show will take place at their twenties when they are in university. We will have flashbacks about high school years and how they got their miraculouses. Chloé also gets her miraculous in high school but it will be taken from her by Ladybug. This events will be similar to show too. Chloé won’t reveal her identity to everyone but will do wrong things to fix and seem like a hero. Her plan was to impress her mother as Queen Bee so later she can reveal her identity to her and make her mother proud of her for once :’) (Damn you Audrey)
Her only friend was Adrian for her whole childhood (same goes for Adrian) thanks to Audrey’s business with Gabriel. I thought her whole feelings towards Adrian is platonic but in her high school times she thought she has romantic feelings towards him because she never had friends other than Adrian and never had romantic interest. That’s why she will be clingy towards Adrian in high school.
In last year of high school after Ladybug took Bee miraculous from her, Marinette will try to fix her relationship with Audrey like in the show but it won’t work and Audrey probably say some really heartbreaking things and this will make Chloé angrier. She will blame Marinette and will be ruder to everyone (espacially to Marinette) at school, Sabrina will dump her (yaaay), Ladybug won’t trust her about an akuma attack (there are no akuma in my story tho but i want you to know what i am referring to rn) and Adrian will talk with her about her actions and how he doesn’t want to keep being friends with her anymore if she continues. She will get akumatized too and hurt her teacher (forgor her name) and Sabrina. She will collapse and leave Paris. I am not sure where she will go, probably i will make her go another country at Europe.
She will change her contacts so Adrian won’t be able to reach her. She will go therapy there and will be emotionally better. I feel like she would study child psychology maybe become a teacher or something. I also thought she will take self defense classes too since Ladybug told that she doesn’t have enough experience on fighting and they ve been getting educated for years to hold a miraculous, when she took bee miraculous from her. ( thats a lie tho it has only been a few months not years lmao)
After 2 or 3 years she will return to Paris (when show takes time at)for a few days just to see her father and apologize to Sabrina, Adrian and Marinette. I thought Sabrina won’t even wanna listen her. So she will decide not to see Adrian because she will think he doesn’t want to see her either. Then she will find herself in the middle of akuma attack. She will see where the akumatized item is. Ladybug and Chatnoir will be surprised to see her there of course but they are in the middle of fight. Chloé will try to tell where the akuma is but Ladybug will immediately tell Chatnoir to take her somewhere safe and he will. Chloé will tell Chatnoir that she knows how to defeat the akuma and she is sorry for being a bad holder back than. Adrian is so confused seeing her friend after years of course but can’t say anything (you know ,secret identity 🤷). Akuma will be defeated and he will go to Chloé to thank.
So then she will go to bakery hoping Marinette will be there in university break and hoping at least Marinette would like to listen her like back then. And as she hoped, Marinette wants to listen her. I might make a comic with this scene later. Right now I don’t have the words to describe the dialogue in here. But it will be about how she came to apologize and she is now a different person but how she doesn’t expect to be forgiven since Sabrina didn’t. And I thought Marinette would hug her seeing how in the edge she is and she might cry :’’(
I know I know it is so plane but i am not good at writing. I just tell what my ideas are. It is not the end. I will write about what happens later but first I should make posts about other holders and power system. Powers are different in my version so story might be confusing without knowing them. Bee miraculous also has slightly a different power. So first I will tell about them. Then I might try harder and write the story better hehe.
About Zoe btw I don’t even know if I want her to exit lmaoo. No hate don’t get me wrong but she is not even a character in the show. I am not sure what to do about her yet.
Thank you for reading, I appreciate that. 🪐🌟
=====Turkish translate======
( Yalan tabii.
Onu hikayeye ekler miyim emin bile değilim. Açıkçası dizide hiç bir kişiliği olmayan bom boş bir karakter. O yüzden emin değilim.
Okuduğun için teşekkür ederim. 🪐🌟

Hi! I hope you’re doing well! Do you have any head canons about your felinette stories (Moving on, finding home; The haunted Bride, The not-so phantom…) and Marinette, the Rolling Stone? I love all of your stories, specially daminette 😈
Hi! Of course I do! But since you're grouping them for the Felinette, I will focus these headcanons on the felinette aspects a bit! Also I am so sorry for the very late reply. Motivation has been very low 😔
Moving On, Finding Home:
•As Marinette starts to work with Amelie, Amelie decided they should go out for lunch along with Felix, but when they got to the cafe she suddenly had some business to take care of and rushed off. Felix took this as an opportunity to really talk to Marinette and apologize for his behavior last time he was in Paris.
•At first she's skeptical but as he went into detail about why he did it, she feels for him. He told her about the loss of his father and that he knew it wasn't an excuse but he had been hurt and angry. Especially at Adrien and his Uncle. He was surprised when she didn't immediately jump to Adrien’s defense.
•Since he was so willing to be vulnerable and he seemed genuine in wanting to start over with her, Marinette told him everything that had happened at school. At first she had just wanted to explain that her and Adrien weren't friends anymore but once she started talking she couldn't stop.
•After this talk, things work a lot smoother, and Felix actually tags along with his mother when she goes to meet Marinette. Somehow them having lunch became a routine as well, but neither teen complains.
•Amelie adores Marinette and has a hard time not spoiling the girl but she can't help that her love language is gift giving and look...if Marinette is going to be taking on as big a project as she is then of course she needs a new design desk...and tablet since her old one had a chip on the corner...and a new mattress because her little designer needs the best sleep to dream up wonderful designs!
•Felix does try to reign her in, but it's hopeless.
•Tom and Amelie are two peas in a protective-parent-pod. They love talking to each other about their respective child and all they do in the name of that love, like the time Tom threw Marinette’s birthday cake in the trash several times in a panic because he didn't want to spoil the surprise. Tom and Amelie basically become bestie with a fond Sabine watching over.
•Amelie being a Petty Betty and allowing paparazzi to take pictures of her, Felix and Marinette when they are out together (with permission, of course) all so she could show off how cute Felix and Marinette are together but also to rub it in the face of her brother-in-law that she nabbed the very talented designer before him.
•Felix does become the new Chat Noir, but he changes his name to Grimalkin and Adrien, who starts not-so-vague posting on his Chat Noir account on social media that the name sucks and nitpicks about everything of the new Cat Hero.
•The class start to think the reason Marinette has "changed" so much is because of Felix, and they start trying to include her in things again in an attempt to lure her away from the "problem" Lila hates this and tries to intervene but it never works out for her.
•Gabriel is having a rough month, what with Lila Rossi being herself, the Dupain-Cheng girl getting snatched up by his dreadful sister-in-law right before he was going to open an early-experience type of internship so he could keep her close and figure out how to akumatize her but also she did have great talent and it would be a waste if he let her slip through his fingers, then Adrien reveals he and Mlle Dupain-Cheng aren't on speaking terms and to top it all off!!! There is a new cat hero who is actually competent, and that is making being a super villain very hard.
The Haunted Bride:
•Marinette had for as long as she remembers, been obsessed with the Culpa Mansion. Her parents thought it was cute and funny at first, but when she still spoke about it and even spoke about details, she couldn't have possibly known, but when she overheard her parents talking about taking her to a professional or something she stopped talking so in depth about it.
•But she dreamt of it almost every night and keeps a dream journal where she drew a lot of things from her dreams. She has it locked and hidden because she fears if anyone found it, they would think she was crazy, especially her parents.
•Hawkmoth is defeated and in jail, but Adrien did somehow get through it all without being suspected of aiding his father. Nathalie is the one taking care of Adrien since Gabriel took the fall for everything.
•Marinette as Ladybug, decided against Ladybug and Chat Noir revealing their identities to each other. Something just told her not too but she did promise that if Chat found her, she would let him know. Her and Adrien dating kind of happened out of nowhere to her, but then he kept making cat puns here and there, and well Marinette came to the conclusion he was Chat and hat found her. So she made her own subtle references.
•Adrien does not know that she is Ladybug, but she thinks he does. He just started dating her because she reminded him of Ladybug, and while he did start to like her, he was still very much in "love" with Ladybug.
•Marinette starts to realize he actually doesn't know who she is, and it kind of opens her eyes to how he tries to manipulate her. She doesn't think he is doing it maliciously or anything, but she can see how much he values the class and keeping things happy, and she sees that he's doing it kind of subconsciously so he can keep his perceived normal and happiness. It's why he never breaks the peace, even if it's the right thing to do.
•When she wins the trip to the Mansion, Marinette actually exchanges letters with the owner of the Mansion, who happens to be her age, and she thinks that's cool. They become pen-pals and friends, and Marinette is just so happy to get to rant to someone just as obsessed with the mansion as much as her.
•When she and her class go to the mansion, she is already trying to break up with Adrien but that's kind of hard to do when he won't spend any time alone with her like a boyfriend should. She finds out that Lila is the one manipulating him in hopes that he would be charmed by her and fall for her. The girl squad (some of them) are helping her.
•Marinette is almost always somehow left alone, and during those times, she meets with Felix, and they just have a fun time hanging out, and Marinette finds herself falling for him. She only ever meets him at night though but it's when she's with him that she feels the happiest and most clear headed. He keeps her grounded.
•But while staying in the mansion, her dreams come back in such vividity that she starts having trouble determining what reality is and what is a dream.
The Not-So Phantom of the Théâtre du Châtelet:
•Felix is not scarred, nor does he live underneath the theater. The Phantom is a character he plays to manipulate and scare those who seek to hurt the theater and the owner, his mother. He doesn't mind the rumor. He plays into it in the name of protecting his mother and the theater she loves. He also does not care nor mind hurting others to do so.
•He works as a permanent stage hand and sometimes a stage manager since he knows the theater better than anyone. Yes, he did build hidden trap doors and such to help with his time as the Phantom.
•But what started as him protecting his mother and their theater kind of morphed into punishing those he thinks deserves it and if you're thinking his mother would not approve of this or not know what her son is doing, nah. She knows and supports her troubled little man.
•When he first meets Marinette, he immediately realizes what potential she has and is charmed by her almost immediately. They become friends as costume designer and stage hand. But when he sees the treatment of her from her ex-boyfriend and the lead actress, he will do anything to protect her.
•Marinette didn't believe in the Phantom until all these strange events started happening, and she keeps getting roses left in her workshop. She doesn't know how she feels about everything and thinks that makes her an awful person.
•She does have a crush on Felix, and they connect so well, but she also can't help but be drawn to the Phantom when they keep having encounters.
Marinette The Rolling-Stone:
•Marinette meets Felix after her big move to London when she goes to her new private school. Yes, Jagged and Penny enrolled her in a private academy because they feared what people would do if she were in a public school, given all that happened and what was televised.
•It's a school that allows her to work from home sometimes. The excuse that was given was that it was due to her adopted father's work schedule, but in actuality, it was because Marinette told Jagged and Penny about being Ladybug and the Guardian and they agreed she could home-school on days she needed to be in Paris.
•She got adopted into the Quantic Kids group by surprisingly Felix. He just felt like she needed friends, and she reminded him of himself before he became friends with his friends.
•It takes a while for her to trust them, but when she does, she cries over how much happier she is. When she starts getting feelings for Felix she's scared but Jagged and Penny help her through it.
•Felix doesn't know when he fell for Marinette, but contrary to what his friends think, he didn't freak out or get angry or anything like that. To him, it made sense, she made sense...they made sense. So no, he isn't scared of his feelings and is more than determined to prove himself to Marinette.
•Her friends find out she is Ladybug and convince her to let them help. Of course, she doesn't want to, but things are getting worse, and she needs people she can trust. Jagged and Penny are also there to help as well.
•Felix, of course, becomes the new Cat Miraculous Holder and becomes known as Carbonel!

Friends and fellow miraculers! I need help!
For the miraculous AU I’m creating, what kind of things did you think the original series were lacking in/could’ve elaborated on? Comment below!! I’ll list some themes/struggles to overcome I was thinking about below. I’d appreciate the feedback!!
Also, when I post stuff I’ll make sure to include trigger warnings :)
Marinette’s struggles/flaws - severe social anxiety, panic attacks, depression, self-sabotaging tendencies, anxious attachment style that leads to stalking from past social trauma, girl bullying
Ladybug’s struggles/flaws - PTSD, trust issues, celebrity struggles (sexualisation, privacy invasion, slander, etc.), headstrong/defensive
Adrien’s struggles/flaws - Chronic people pleaser that puts others before himself and causes people to get hurt inadvertently, easily peer pressured (into situations, drugs, etc), ADHD, wants nothing more than to please his dad, no social intelligence, skewed perspectives of relationships, depression, celebrity struggles (sexualisation, privacy invasion, paparazzi/stalkers), model struggles (sexualisation, assault, coercion, drugs, anorexia, dehydration), neglect, loss
Chat Noir’s struggles/flaws - Rejection, PTSD, spontaneous/impulsive, fueled by emotion
Chloe’s struggles/flaws - Narcissism, parental abuse, drug abuse/addiction, master manipulator/girl bully, party girl, lowkey an abuser to Adrien
Alya’s struggles/flaws - Adrenaline junkie (rushes into danger headfirst), stubborn/difficulty accepting when she’s wrong, headstrong, passionate
Nino’s struggles/flaws - party animal, doesn’t want to grow up
Kagami’s struggles/flaws - no social skills/ doesn’t know how to express herself, walls to protect her emotions, parental abuse, narcissism, celebrity struggles (manipulation, sexualisation, coercion, privacy invasion), perfectionist
Luka’s struggles/flaws - free spirit and hard to ground in reality, abandonment issues, drug use to cope with severe social anxiety,
Felix’s struggles/flaws - revenge-fueled, drug abuse/addiction, manipulator, rebellious/chaotic
Gabriel Agreste’s flaws - Obsessive (in winning), fueled by grief, thinks he has nothing left to lose (he forgets his son), cold, will not accept loss (ie his dead wifey)
— overall themes —
Gore, loss, mass casualties/destruction, the dark side of being famous, the dark side of modeling, intense pressure of being a soldier/hero/protector, mental illness, drugs, complicated relationships, sexual assault/harassment, death, bullying/psychological harassment, and so much more~!
— other ideas —
- Marinette is a Fashion Intern by Gabriel Agreste Brand after she wins a contest
- Marinette meets Adrien via her internship and also has to deal with Chloe - her ex best friend - there (her mother works with Gabriel)
- Alya takes writing as a “track” in high school and also participates in a reporter internship. She runs her own blog and constantly puts herself in danger for it
- Marinette is studying fashion/graphic design and Adrien is taking the general track in high school - though I can kind of see Adrien becoming a nurse or in a profession where he helps others
- Adrien and Chloe go through a situationship triggered after his mother dies, and she takes advantage of his emotions. He just wants her to be happy and doesn’t care that he is at the expense of that at first (people pleaser tendency). Adrien is forced into other relationships at points - like with Kagami and Lila - because it’s what his father wants.
- The kids from the original collége (middle school) class will appear in an Art club they all participate in. It takes place in the final year of Lycée (high school) and classes are set up similar to American University/College, with different “tracks” to take, which leads to taking the “Bac.” (According to my research at least ;-;)
- Lila will appear as both an ally of Hawkmoth (with a kwami OC) and as marinette’s main foe as herself (teamed up with Chloe and Sabrina) - but worse than the series because Lila wins at first
- Adrien experiences the dark side of being a celebrity and male model - being taken advantage of, pressured into substances, sexualized, and exploited. He doesn’t know how to say no at first
- Marinette faces the dark adult world of fashion as she too is criticized, sees the corruption of it, and is forced into situations she has to get out of.
- Adrien doesn’t know what a real relationship is supposed to feel like and sexual acts become tainted for him — Marinette helps him see the innocent, nontoxic side of being in a relationship
- Major redesign of the miraculous and the capabilities of their powers - and consequences.

In Defense of Chloe Bourgeois Part 2: Why is Chloe?
Hello everyone! In case it wasn't obvious by the title, this is a part 2 to this post right there! I'd sincerely recommend reading it since you'll need the context. Anyhow, moving right onto where I left off!
[...]
Okay...deep breath. In and out. I'm...totally fine. Anyway, considering all of the above, it's pretty clear that Chloe has a lot of problems. Mental Health problems, to be exact. And natually, this circles back to her bigget fault in this entire show. Bullying the main character. Now, bullying sucks. It's bad, don't do it. This is coming from a person who got relentlessly bullied for years on end by the way, so I'm on Marinette's side here! She's right not to trust Chloe in Vanisher, because she's fourteen and has years worth of trauma related to this girl! In her experience Chloe is never helpful, and often the antithesis of that word. Sure, Ladybug should have looked past that as part of her job, but Chat Noir doesn't either! The only reason he ever gives her the benefit of the doubt is because it's Adrien under the mask! So as far as I'm concerned, Marinette didn't do anything wrong (yet) with how she handled Chloe. And any mistakes she does make are if not justifiable then at least understadable given their history. But on the Chloe side of things, she has every reason to hate Marinette. From all the classmates we have info on, Marinette is the only one with a happy, complete and loving family in the way that Chloe has always wished her's way. Obligatory reminder that Alya wasn't in their class until Origins. We never see Alix or Sabrina's moms, I'm half convinced Nino's parents don't exist because they've never been mentioned once the whole show, Max and Juleka only have their moms and possinly daddy issies, etc. Something ain't right with any of the familial situations here. So obviously, when Chloe sees someone who she's been taught by Audrey (again, her role model in formative years) is "beneath" her, as in, fundementally inferior to their own existence, and Marinette has a loving family that adores her unconditionally, is it any fucking wonder she acts out???
Again! And this is the last time I'll say it! So sing along, everyone! ~Bullying is bad! Don't do it kids!~ What Chloe does (even without that horrendous spider-pool-thing of a retcon) is obviously wrong!!! Okay??? It's bad!!! Because hurting other to feel better is a shitty thing to do! Nevermind that it doesn't work!!! I am not going to repeat myself again! But the root of Chloe's problems is her family. She's been raised by two (barely one, but let's pretend) people who make me wonder if parenting licences should be a thing, and are prime examples of the fact while every kid deserves a parent, the opposite is very much not true! Marinette effortlessly has what Chloe craves, parental love! And at the time they first meet, they should both be like 9 or 10! Obviously Chloe takes things too far, but considering she's emotionally stunted and the people around her have to do as she says, no wonder she's royally pissed the moment she encounters something that she can't throw daddy's money at and win! That's what Audrey taught her is correct, and what Andre constantly encourages!
Understanding all of this, we circle back to Style Queen. Fucking Style Queen, man. Chloe accidentally finds the Bee Miraculous. And honestly? The argument of "Marinette shouldn't have dropped it" is fucking ridiculous. Listen, the coffee cup in Sentibubbler I can understand, but don't grasp at straws like this. For Nooroo's sake! Moving right along, dear God does this go badly. Up to this point, we've got a vague idea that Chloe is willing to help Ladybug and Chat Noir (aside from just being a self-proclaimed superfan), given that she did so in Vanisher, Despair Bear, and possibly another episode that I'm forgetting about. Doesn't matter. So now, Chloe Bourgeois is in possession of a magical macguffin that gives her heroes their superpowers. Naturally, this is a pretty big thing. Unfortunately, Chloe doesn't even get the chance to be responsible here, because Audrey immediately goes on a rant about how useless she is and how she could never be "exceptional". Aka: hits all of Chloe's trauma buttons with a Greathammer. Wonderful job, local Karen! This immediately prompts Chloe to take what she knows is exceptional (superpowers) and flaunt it in her mother's face. She transforms in a room full of people, including Gabriel Agreste, but I don't care about him in this rant, and runs out to try and find a crime to stop!
Because of course, heroes do good things! But you know, helping an old lady cross the street or rescuing a kitten isn't exactly "exceptional material" so Chloe instantly goes for the heavy hitters. And has the incredibly stupid idea of the whole train wreck bs. Yes, I know it was a subway or something, I don't care. The point stands. Naturally, stupidity attracts dumbassery, and so the local watermelon and her furry companion show up to put a stop to Chloe's shenanigans. Kudos to Ladybug by the way, for recognizing the situation for the problematic mess that it was and trying to comfort Chloe. Excellent character delevopment from Marinette here. Unironically I love that she still does this even though she doesn't have to. Nowhere in the superhero manual does it say "talk to your bully because she's having a shitty moment with her abusive mother", but Marinette does it anyway because she's cool like that. And then...a miracle happens! Praise Nooroo, because Chloe "Queen B" Bourgeois apologizes for causing a mess! I can't believe it! And then...Nadja does what reporters do best, and screws everything up. As an aside, can you tell I don't like "reporter" characters? This goes for Alya too, I hate it when they insert themselves in clearly private situations for the sake of a "scoop". My sister in Nooroo, if it's a scoop you want then go interview Andre Glacier! I do like Alya, got a whole "In Offense to..." post about her in the works. And I promise not to bash her. It's the writing's fault.
Anyway, back to Nadja being an idiot. Because naturally, a child is in emotional distress! And even more naturally, she decides the best way to handle a clearly fragile situation in a city where people get turned into violent supervillains for feeding the goddamn pigeons (lookin' at you, Xavier!) is to...live stream it on television. For the entire country of France! And even more naturally, she also gets Chloe's abusive mother on the line so the child in question can be belittled on NATIONAL TELEVISION for what she already knows is wrong, and has been handled by the proper authority. Because I don't trust a single adult in this universe, Ladybug is a thousand times more reliable! Like seriously, she's just been Akumatized!
Does Nadja want it to happen again? Anyway, this utter debacle marks the beginning of Chloe's career as Queen Bee, the superhero Ladybug brings in when she needs to and then puts back in the box until next time! Mind you, I do not blame Marinette for this, considering that she acknowledges Chloe is capable and willing to help, even says so to her at one point. Then we go through Maledictator, Heart Hunter, Miraculer, etc. And it becomes pretty clear that Hawkmoth is actively targeting Chloe. Because, you know, she's the only Miraculous Holder whose identity was public. All the while, Chloe actually seems to mellow out a little bit in her civilian life. Sure, she does that hillarious thing where interviews Queen Bee which is honestly just funny and should have been given extra points for the effort of doing it herself instead of forcing Sabrina to do it for her. I mean that instead of encouraging Chloe's bad behavior by being unreasonably permissive, miss Bustier should encourage her good behavior little by little, like doing things on her own and the compliments thing she has the class do. To her credit, Chloe does seem to be trying, and slowly finding her footing with all these new dynamics. Even with Sabrina, she seems to be treating her better now. They play "Ladybug and Chat Noir" together, and all that stuff. I won't get into it here because I want to move onto the actual conclussion of this rant, but you get my point.
Despite all this, Chloe is still very...Chloe. But she does seem to be doing a little better. I'm fairly sure Marinette or at least Adrien acknowledges that at some point, but anyway. The reason why I think Chloe's behavior improves is because she finally feels like she belongs. In Team Miraculous, I mean. Sure, Ladybug is their leader who she listens to, but that's just the thing. Ladybug leads, she doesn't boss people around. And Chloe already looked up to her, and willingly chooses to follow. It's good for her, even if we're taking baby steps here. And then...Miracle Queen happens. I'll honestly be damned as to why Marinette got butchered here, because this is a fault of the writing. Like, I'm sorry, they build up this understanding that Chloe can't be Queen Bee anymore between her and Ladybug, and then just...take it away? H-how do you take away an established dynamic??? Not like this, that's how! People are saying Marinette should have sat Chloe down and explained things better, and yeah okay that would have helped, but you guys realize Gabriel was actively praying on her worst feelings, right? Gabriel who knows Chloe's family and also has emotional manipulation powers? All he had to do was feed into all these doubts one last time and get her to agree for like, five seconds. Akuma goes in, and she's on his side now!
And hot take? I like Miracle Queen! I like the direction they tried to take this in! Because it's clearly a "battling your inner demons" storyline, which fits perfectly with the fact that Chloe needs a good support system to function properly. She's still so deeply steeped into the crap that Andre and Audrey taught her that she needs help, and that's okay! For Nooroo's sake, needing help from your friends is completely okay! You should ask for it when you can't do something on your own! And Chloe does try to! She has a fucking Batman Signal knock-off on her rooftop! It's...certainly a method. Then again she doesn't have Ladybug's phone number, so... Anyway yeah. The thing is that I think it's okay for Chloe to need a support system, and then Gabriel takes advantage of her when said network isn't there. He's actively manipulating a child here. Yes, Chloe does give into his manipulation and by extension her own darker self, but I think that's the point. Or at least I perceive it as a "healing is hard, takes time, mistakes will be made alone the way" kinda thing. Which works regarldess of a "Redemption Arc" or no! if they wanted to redeem Chloe, then here's another huge conflict to work through! Here's something that ruined the trust she had with Ladybug and left them both vulnerable! Here's a really cool plot thread that can be explored between Chloe and Adrien, because he's the only who as far as Chloe knows, doesn't hate her (which would be logical to assume for Ladybug given what she did). You want to go "Corruption Arc"? Welp, here's a tale of caution! Here's a display of Hawkmoth as a competent villain who utterly decimated Ladybug's team! Here's a reason for Chloe to defensively slip back into old patterns and emphasize that she's bitter towards her friends because nobody helped her! Again, great character conflict! Beautiful idea, a fine message even!
Surpring absolutely nobody, Thomas Astruc does neither of these. Or rather, he tries to do both, and fails at both. Let's keep the Chloe point for a bit longer before we bring Zoe into this mess, okay? The problem I have with Miracle Queen is that it fundementally half-asses the above, in quite possibly the stupidest way possible. Like I said above, it was previously established (I'm fairly sure in Miraculer) that Chloe understood she couldn't be Queen Bee anymore. And yeah okay she seemed bummed, but still got Ladybug's reasoning. Because you know, Marinette talked to her about it! And then the show just...forgets this happened??? I get that Chloe wants to be a hero, which I think is probably her only halfway healthy coping mechanism for all the crap she's dealing with, but she's clearly shown to agree with Ladybug's decision, even begrudgingly. And suddenly, with almost no fanfare or buildup, Gabriel "Mothballs" Agreste swoops in for a glory kill and manipulates Chloe into getting Akumatized. Again, I know this is a "battle with her inner demons" thing, but it genuinely doesn't matter! Because Hawkmoth is grooming her right now! Aside from the horrible connotation of the word, it also refers to general manipulation of a person's mental state. But you know what peeves me greatly? This seems to happen instantly! I would have loved it if we took two or three episodes to show Chloe being upset over losing the one place (Team Miraculous) where she felt accepted, I would have liked to see her talk to Sabrina about how she feels like shit because she can't help Ladybug anymore. Even better, an outburst where despite logically understanding that she's right, Chloe blames Ladybug for taking the easy way out of the Queen Bee problem.
Let's face it, Ladybug did take the easy solution here. Now, I don't blame Marinette at all for this. She's fourteen, has the world's weight on her shoulders, a very poor history with Chloe, and took the Bee Miraculous away because she thought that this would keep her teammate safe. Marinette did the best she could, with good intentions! Personally I think Fu should have stepped in here at least indirectly, but he's a poor mentor to Ladybug anyway (yes I have a "In Offense to..." post for him in mind) so of course paranoid Fu wouldn't involve himself. The point is that neither Marinette or Chloe are actually at fault for Queen Bee getting benched. It's a shitty situation that only delays the inevitable bomb from dropping on the heroes' heads by just a bit longer. Now, during this lull in storytelling, Hawkmoth should have tried approaching Chloe again. You know, send another Akuma maybe as she's venting to Sabrina about how she hates the situation she's been placed in. As a reminder, Chloe is the first person to reject an Akuma in this entire show. So for her to again (if more reluctantly) refuse Gabriel's offer to team up would be in character. A second interaction here could have forshadowed Miracle Queen better. Maybe Chloe pauses after Hawkmoth is done pitching his plan, and then after a second or two, she throws him out of her head. Give us another episode where's struggling, and I think her "turn to the Dark Side" in Miracle Queen would have been received much less poorly than it actually did.
This isn't to say that Chloe shouldn't have accepted Hawkmoth's offer. In my opinion, it's a good thing that she did, because it builds character. Even if I "Redemption Arc" had always been the goal, they absolutely could have still done this, so long as it got even a little bit of buildup. And...we again to the fundemental problem I have with Astruc's writing. I know there's other people in the room as well, but it's he who is the "lead writer" and who also made the most buzz about this choice online after Miracle Queen first released. Thomas just...doesn't know how to build up major events. With the sole exception of Shadowmoth's Last Attack, which I have nothing but praise for as a finale, Thomas literally never bothers showing us anything. This is also a problem I have with Gabriel's eventual spiral of insanity, because while "show don't tell" is a good policy to have, even "tell" is a much better option than nothing at all! The reason why Miracle Queen feels so bloody jarring is because for the first and last time in this show's history...they mostly managed to build up a proper Character Arc. Except Thomas and Co. fumbled at the end, and didn't devote almost any time to the entire Season's payoff!
I unironically believe this is just a targeted attack meant to drive anyone with common sense completely and utterly mad, because they spent twenty-something episodes building up to Miracle Queen...and failed to explain why it even happened. I mean yeah, "Gabriel bad, he has a plan, it actually works for once" is what we get, but this is a logical fallacy in and of itself, because if it was the plan from the beginning, then why isn't there any buildup for the final part of this character development? Thomas' failure to properly show the aftermath of Chloe's benching, and make it clear that she is falling into her bad habits again, therefore reverting to a "villain" character because she lacks the support system which helped her be a better person, is the exact reason why anyone is even arguing that there "should" have been a Redemption Arc in the first place!
Note again: Time for part 3, I promise I'm nearly done! Not like this took two weeks to write or something!

ladynoir 12 for the drabble prompts!
Hey Nicole!
So, you did prompt #12 (also yay! my favorite number!), which ended up corresponding to Love Don't Die by The Fray!
I'll admit, it took me a while to figure out what to do with this one, but I ended up taking the angst route lol
This is a PRPR fic, where Chat Noir and Hawkmoth's identities have been revealed to the public (Ladybug is still unknown though)...
anyways... hope you enjoy!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Instead I'm Never Leaving You
“LADYBUG! LADYBUG! OVER HERE!” The shouting and blaring lights of overzealous reporters threatened to overwhelm her, but she blinked back spots and stood her ground. She reminded herself why she was here. Why was she standing alone with only the bare vestiges of a whisper of his hand in hers, of his warmth radiating next to hers, a stolen moment taken from only moments ago, but feeling like a lifetime past.
One eager reporter with bright purple hair and a sharp haircut broke from the fold and shoved her microphone underneath Ladybug’s face.
“Ladybug, what do you have to say about the rumors of your partner being Adrien Agreste?”
Ladybug pursed her lips and fought against the building headache in her temple.
This was not to discourage the enthusiastic reporter, who pushed the microphone even further into Ladybug’s face, its plastic scent was beginning to make her nauseous.
“And what do you have to say about the allegations of famed fashion designer Gabriel Agreste being Hawkmoth, and about the potential implications of Chat Noir being the son of Hawkmoth?”
Forever on the defense for her partner, this time, Ladybug could not hold herself back from speaking.
“The identity of Hawkmoth, regardless of who he is, has no effect on Adrien Agreste, who has never done anything to harm Paris, and it certainly has nothing to do with Chat Noir, who has spent every waking moment defending all of Paris, including myself.” Ladybug could feel her face turning a bright red, as her voice rang clear with righteous fury.
For a moment the crowd around her silenced, until a voice in the crowd, to which she could put no face, piped in.
“Ladybug, don’t you think that we’d be better off without Chat Noir? How could you trust your partner, if these are the kinds of people he spends his time with?”
She was going to be sick.
Surely he had been watching the crowd, surely he knew that they had given voice to the seeds of doubt growing heartily in the back of his mind.
Ladybug looked around helplessly for an exit, then remembered the trusty yo-yo hooked against her side.
“I’m sorry everyone but I have to go.”
With an eager fling, she catapulted herself into the air and made her way to the nearby rooftop that she knew he’d be hiding behind.
It wasn’t fair. With merely a grainy video taken by an invasive fan, which had showcased a side view of what looked to be Adrien’s Agreste’s face, after Chat Noir’s transformation. And had been posted to social media barely two days after the arrest of Hawkmoth suspect #1 Gabriel Agreste, Adrien’s… Chat Noir’s life had been effectively ruined.
She blinked back angry tears for him, knowing that their being spotted would only hurt him more.
When she caught sight of him, he was facing the opposite direction from where the crowd had been, as though he hadn’t caught the entire thing from his hideaway.
He heard her before he saw her.
“What they’re saying is true, you know.”
“Chaton,” She sighed, her shoulders drooping.
“You would be better off to drop me. I mean, who would blame you? I wouldn’t trust me either.”
The ache that settled in her heart became too much for her. Rather than fight against his untrue words, rather than remind him of how much she cared about him, about how much she needed him, she sat down beside him and leaned her head on his shoulder.
There they sat, with only traffic and wind to harmonize the silence, until Ladybug felt pressure and tenseness ease from Chat Noir’s shoulders, until his head sloped onto hers.
“I’m sorry you had to hear that.” She said quietly, she took his hand and began to draw circles on his knuckles.
He shrugged with feigned nonchalance. “It’s okay.”
Ladybug sat up abruptly and turned herself towards Chat Noir. She grabbed his face in her palms to make sure he could see the earnestness on her face.
“It’s not okay. No partner, no person is as kind, as giving, as loyal and– and as goodhearted as you. You don’t deserve this treatment. What your father did was awful, but it’s not in any way a reflection of you. You– you are the opposite of him in every way, and I’m sure if Alya and Nino were here right now, they’d agree with me.”
Ladybug stroked Chat Noir’s cheekbone in a repetitive motion that managed to catch reluctant tears, haphazardly falling from his weary eyes.
“I know everything in your life is insane right now, that people are confused and have turned you into something you are not. But know this Chaton. I am never leaving you, and I am not going to turn my back on our partnership. Because I know who you are and I will always love you for it. Minou, we will get through this like we get through everything, together.”
Chat Noir finally released a shuddered breath and nuzzled his face into her palm.
“Thank you M’lady.”
“Always Chaton.”

Hi. I saw your Gabriel post. While I agree, there some other points I would like to mention, in somewhat in defense of Gabriel;
First, no, I agree, he did not redeemed himself, I agree. However, in the finale, he himself stated that he crossed his own morality's line, in order to bring Emillie back. He was aware of his sctions, and somewhst of the consequences as well. It doesn't excuse it, I agree, but I would say, it's not madnes.
Secound; I think he did not "redeemed himself, but grow as a man. Minutes earlier, he was shouting about the only ones who are matters are him and his family, no matter, what the cost or who pays it. And yes, he could have brought back Emillie. Yes, he could have healed Nathalie. And yes, he could have saved himself. But at the end, HE paid the priece for his wish. My personal favorite thing was, he did not say the wish, but it was in his heart. So, yes, while I disagree with his actions and this being looked as a redemption, I rejoys he did what he did. Not because he becone a better person, but because he become a bigger one than he was before🙂
(well, it's just my oppinion, it's perfectly fine to think about this an other way, but I still like this ending very much 😊)
I kind of see what you mean, in the sense that it could have been way worse! He could have sacrified two random innocent people, or even two of his enemies (Ladybug and Chat Noir, Felix, maybe even Tomoe if he felt she was becoming a threat), healed himself, and brought Emilie back against her will.
But if you pay close attention to what Bug Noire says — this is not about sacrifice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is about not using magic as a way to solve your problems — the exact infraction that got us into this situation in the first place.
Tumblr media
This is about facing the consequences of your actions, instead of running away from them.
Tumblr media
But most importantly — this is about taking the chance, even if it is tiny, to live and make it up to Adrien.
Tumblr media
@buggachat said it best in her Emilie VS Amelie post:
"He would rather be dead, with [Emilie], than alive and caring for his own son."
Because no one matters except them, and that sadly includes their child.
Tumblr media
Being with his wife is what Gabriel always wanted. He won’t be around to experience the inevitable consequences of using black magic again. But Adrien will, as well as the multiple children who are now forced to lie in an effort to maintain the illusion.
And you know what? This is what I like most about the finale — how unambiguous it is that Gabriel is still the bad guy, and that the choices he made, up until the very end, will continue to impact our heroes in this new era. So many abusers "see the error of their ways" on their deathbed — but it does little for their victims, who still have to live with the consequences.
Of course, I would have preferred to see Adrien confront him. He deserved it. But I absolutely see how this can lead to interesting conflict in the next season.

Another prompt for the sentitwins becoming fully human/freed from their amoks au: they didn't have as many side effects due to their amoks being the thing with the most influence over them. With them being freed, they now experience the side effects at full force like the rest.
Both cats and peacocks groom themselves, but for cats it also a social bonding activity. Cue Felix spending hours destroying his lovely curly hair with gel and then promptly helping Adrien with his because it makes him happy. It just brings them closer no matter how much Felix complains. When Felix wears off the gel, he indulges Adrien by letting him have a go at making his hair look good in a messy way.
Imagine Felix now spends a good chunk of his morning coordinating elegant outfits with Duusu. His vanity has good up by 1000% so now he plans hours in advance just so he can make sure he doesn't delay anybody with it.
Also a peacock's primary defense mechanism is to kick and they have very sharp thorn like spurs on their ankles that stab you when at the right angle. Imagine Felix developing really strong leg muscles and retractable thorns at the back of his ankles. Him just elegantly kicking his way to victory without needing to scrifice a single sentimonster. Now picture him doing this to an Akuma as Luka stares with awe, fright, and arousal. Meanwhile Kagami wants to know what his workout is so she pull that look from Zoe (jokes on her she already does).
Moving onto Adrien, I've quoted before that "cats don't follow orders, merely act on polite requests from those they appreciate". I need Adrien to slowly stop appreciating Gabriel. Yeah he still does his modeling jobs and whatnot, but other than that Adrien has ceased all effort to please him. When he finds out his dad is Hawkmoth, the human brain is distraught that his dad is the terrorist trying to take his miraculous but the cat brain goes full Miette: "you KICK Adrien? you kick his body like a football? oh! oh! jail for father! jail for father for ONE THOUSAND YEARS!"
As Felix finally gets Adrien to yank off his rose colored lenses, Adrien just gets more pissed off at how ridiculous his dad is. He used to admire the man and now he thinks of him as a pitiful bug stuck is past not worthy of his attention.
The whole household is shocked at how the "perfect" son is now talking back to his father or just ignoring him. They still got trauma from the time Gabriel told Adrien to cancel his plans with his friends and Adrien gave him the most scathing glare known to man (he learned it from Ladybug) and gave a firm "FUCK NO" and then proceeded to propose a compromise. Gabriel was so stunned by his defiance that he just accepted with no argument.
Gabriel is shooketh that instead of the usual disappointed frown with a glimmer of hope, he's getting hit with the "you are the shit stuck on my shoe" look. Funny part is that it's only Gabriel (and Lila) who's receiving this. He's still an affectionate sunshine to everybody else. He makes sure Natalie is always comfortable and not overworking herself, he always takes time to chat with Gorilla during cars rides, he's a complete simp for Marinette (post reveal and its also mutual), he an empathetic caring friend to everybody (expect Lila), and is just the happiest person in general when not around Gabriel (or Lila). Plagg is crying tears of joy at the pride he feels when he sees Adrien's progress.
Gabriel starts breaking down even more when he realizes that Adrien's amok doesn't seem to working (not realizing that Adrien has no amok anymore). He goes complete insane when he learns that his son is now human and is also Chat Noir, thus impossible to ever control.
Cat rules!Adrien who, with the sudden full force of his miraculous, is initially very affectionate with his father (especially if its after Gabe’s emotional manipulation arc). But then his father won’t return the affection, always ignores him, always pushes him away. So he goes to other people, other places. Adrien who’s always found everywhere, at the Couffaine’s boat house, outside Chloe’s window (“Adrien I live on the fourteenth floor, hiw did you get up here?!” “:3”), on Marinette’s balcony, etc
Adrien choosing to distance himself from his father
Adrien growing longer, stronger, sharper nails. Lila getting a little too close
Felix, suddenly not feeling gorgeous At All if he’s not wearing bright colors, the brighter the better. He has to try to make it work with how he likes to dress (thankfully his hair is already a bright enough blonde)
Felix not feeling secure without wearing a big, dramatic jacket
Felix intimidating people by spreading out his jacket (which actually works, mostly because of his other theatrics)

Rain Falls, Everybody Lies Adrien AUGreste Entry 3: Rain
Chat Noir loves the rain. He loves the danger. He loves the excitement, and he especially loves how much Catwalker hates it. Jekyll and Hyde AU
Adrien AUGreste Entry 3: Rain
This is a Jekyll and Hyde AU, and although we are going to be using the split personality models preferred by the adaptations instead of the corrupting alter-ego of the book, we will be spoiling the beginning of the book. If you have not read it, I strongly recommend it. It’s awesome, and despite it being old as heck, it accurately predicted that some people, if given the chance to remain anonymous, may choose to do increasingly terrible things so long as there are no personal consequences until they cross the line.
Alright, so I'm going to be busy Saturday, so once again, you guys will be getting an entry a few days early. It will be posted on the same day as "Well, That Went Suspiciously Well". The two are not related.
As per usual, this was not Beta'd, so if you see errors or if anything is unclear, please let me know.
Link to AO3 story. Link to Adrien AUGreste series. ~*~
Chat Noir raced across the rooftops of Paris, delighting in the threatening rumble of the thunder and marveling at the white-hot intensity of the lightning. The rain pounded at his skin, futilely trying to work through his suit’s defenses to soak him to the bone.
He was free -finally free- and even if the rain could get through his suit, it wouldn’t have stopped him. Every part of him ached with the need to move faster, push himself harder, and he didn’t resist. Not even as the roofs grew slick with inches and inches of rainfall and the jumps grew ever more dangerous and unpredictable. It felt wild. It felt uncontrollable. It felt free.
This was what he needed right now. Not that stupid, mindless complacency Catwalker craved. Perfection? Ha! Who needed perfection when you could have the raw beauty of chaos? The mirth of laughter? The bone aching pain of tears? The catharsis of a scream?
Distantly, Chat Noir could tell there was an akuma. Stormy Weather. Chat would bet his life on it. It seemed even Shadow Moth couldn’t stand chaos anymore, constantly repeating the same akumas again and again in the vain hopes that this time, it would work. This time he’d win. What a joke.
Chat didn’t even waste time considering whether or not to join Ladybug. She had her other teammates. Ones who were just as important as Chat Noir. She knew what she was doing. She only really needed his Cataclysm anyways, and if he used that, he’d only have 5 minutes until he was trapped being the oh-so-perfect Catwalker again, and he wasn’t in any hurry to go back to that hand-crafted nightmare any time soon. No thank you.
Instead, Chat kept up his run, pulling every thoughtless, reckless, foolhardy trick he’d ever considered in one last hoorah before he’d be forced back into some dark, forbidden corner of Adrien’s mind again, gnawing on whatever neglected scraps of anger or resentment he could find until he could find a way to escape again. It had been months since he’d escaped last time, and he’d only managed it because Catwalker had despised the rain so vehemently. Deep down, Chat knew that there was always the chance that this time, this escape would be the last one, so he had to make this one count, before he disappeared into oblivion for good.
Then, he saw her. Vesperia. The one person Chat hated more than stupid, perfect Catwalker. She had been the one who’d started it all. The one who planted the idea of making a perfect, better replacement in Adrien’s head. The one who’d made Adrien reject him.
Vesperia was Chloe’s replacement, a sweeter, kinder, better bee. Everyone said so. That she was better than Chloe in every way. Vesperia didn’t lash out like Chloe did. Vesperia wasn’t bossy like Chloe was. It didn’t matter that Vesperia was smarter than Chloe was, or a better fighter than Chloe was. She just wasn’t as damaged as Chloe was. She was just less distracting than Chloe was, less flawed, and so everybody loved her more. Now that Vesperia was here, the only time anyone remembered Queen Bee anymore was when they were comparing her to Vesperia.
That was probably what had happened to Chat Noir. Poor, stupid Chat Noir. Too silly, too ridiculous for anyone to want him. Too chaotic, too messy to deal with. Everybody had always preferred perfect, polished Adrien to him. No doubt that they’d do the same with Catwalker. No wonder Adrien had rejected him. No wonder Adrien had imprisoned him and threw away the key.
Chat blinked back tears, hot and heavy as he stuffed the hurt he felt bubbling up from deep inside him. No. He was not going to do this today. Not when he had just gotten free.
Something inside him snapped, and Chat Noir moved. He rushed towards Vesperia, unseen through the thick heavy rain and shoved her off the building. Then, as she fell, he rushed to continue with his run, not even bothering to check behind him to see Vesperia’s fall.
She’d be fine. Chat had survived dozens of falls from higher than that without so much as a scratch, and she had her top. Chat didn’t really care about which way it ended up. All that mattered to him was that feeling of relief. That finally someone else felt like he did, if only for a moment.
Was this what Chloe felt all the time, he wondered. Was this why she always went back to hurting people? It was wrong. He knew wrong, but God, it had felt so right.
Unfortunately, Chat’s thoughts were soon interrupted by a wire snagging his ankle and yanking it out from underneath him. He screamed as he fell; his claws uselessly flailing towards the slick roof tiles coated in thick streams of water.
When he landed, he found himself face to face with the girl that had once held his heart, and had so callously crushed it with her apathy. Ladybug. Chat Noir yowled at her, yanking at the yoyo holding her leg so he could have enough slack to curl up in a ball.
Chat did not want to talk to her. She had hurt him. She had betrayed him. She didn’t deserve his words, and he had none to give her.
Ladybug, for her part, seemed surprised at what she’d done. She looked so lost and confused, almost betrayed, like Chat had hurt her instead of the other way around. With a flick of her wrist, she retracted her yoyo, letting Chat go free, but Chat didn’t trust it. He knew that if he ran, she would catch him just as easily. No. He wasn’t going to do that. Not today. He curled up tighter and flashed his teeth at her, hissing.
“Chat Noir?” Ladybug asked, her voice almost breaking as she reached her hand out towards him slowly. He flinched, and hated himself as he saw tears well up in her eyes.
God, Chat wished he could hate her. It would make everything so much easier. He wished that he didn’t still love her, that he didn’t want to wipe away her tears and say something, anything to make her feel better. Yet at the same time, he didn’t think he was strong enough to talk to her. It felt as though even the smallest word might break him.
They stared at each other, frozen in the rain until she broke the silence.
“What happened to you?” she asked.
With that, Chat Noir almost did break. He almost told her everything: how Adrien had experimented with the ring and broke himself in two; how Chat Noir was trapped in this horrible limbo of repression; how much it hurt to never be enough, to never be wanted except as the perfect puppet; how scared he was that he might one day disappear, forever lost to the perfect little nightmare that was Catwalker; how he’d hurt Vesperia and it’d felt so good, but he was sorry because he knew he shouldn’t have done that; how it hurt to feel, but it also hurt so much not to feel, and he was scared that one day, he’d give in and accept feeling nothing forever.
He didn’t know what to do. He didn’t even have time to try to make a plan to do anything. He wanted her. He needed her. Now more than ever.
A shield slammed in front of him, forcing Chat to scramble backwards.
“Stay away from her!” Carapace yelled, Vesperia hiding right behind him.
“Careful, Ladybug,” Ryuko said, her voice as cold as ice and unforgiving as steel. “He’s the one who pushed Vesperia off a building. You cannot let yourself be fooled by who he used to be. He cannot be trusted.”
The spell broken, Chat Noir took the chance to flee, running to the shadows to lose them. Bitterly, he cursed himself for his weakness. He should’ve known better.
Ryuko was right. No matter who they might’ve been to Chat Noir once, Chat Noir was stupid to even think of trusting them now. They were Catwalker’s friends. Not his, and he’d been blind to let his feelings run away with him. No one would ever choose chaos over perfection. No one would even want to have silly, melodramatic Chat Noir over the perfect refined Cat Walker.
He’d have to be strong and save himself without them. Or die trying.

Can I defend myself?
I hate Marinette salt so much that even when people rightfully criticize S5!Marinette, I am sometimes annoyed
Only "Adrien salt" (which was actually Writing Salt) that I posted in latest month (or two) is saying that ML's bad writing causes that Chat Noir has "defensive role" (protecting Ladybug) and "Glass Canon-like" powerset (Cataclysm + dodge-based defense), and that ML Writers refused to see this "dissonance" even after Temporary Holders were introduced (which made it even worse and more glaring)
Fact that I think "Ch**e deserves better writing" (like almost everything else in ML) isn't Ch**e apologism.
No. You are denied a basic right. :P /s
That's rather silly. No character is above critisism.
2. Ok. Not really sure what you mean by that.
3. Yeah. I've heard that before. But I said I wasn't going to discuss Chloe anymore. And I meant it.

In Defense of Ladrien
Hello there everyone, and welcome to a shorter post this time. I'll be honest, I'm in a random Ladrien mood right now, so I figured I should go rewatch a few of the Season 2 episodes with it. As you do. Then I remembered...it doesn't exist. Not in canon anyway, and that's a real shame! Despite Adrien and Ladybug's mutual crushes on each other, we don't get anything except a couple times where they blush at each other and stammer through their sentences. Which okay, it's cute, but c'mon, there's so much potential here! So today I want to lay a bit of groundwork as to how Ladrien could have been improved in this show, and also (hopefully) open up a discussion about it, since I rarely see anyone bring it up in modern MLB. I guess we're all too busy with Sentimonster angst and questioning what's going on with Lila's three mothers. Still waiting to see how they'll try to write themselves out of this predicament... Anyway, today we're talking about the most underrated lovesquare ship, Ladrien!
First of all, it's worth mentioning that I won't be going over the show episode by episode. This is just a short post discussing the ship in general, not a 7.5k analysis like I did with Chloe, my keyboard still needs time to recover. So, I'm sure we all know the basics, but I'll give a simple overview of canon Ladrien just to have everyone on the same page! Ladybug (Marinette) has a crush on Adrien Agreste. Adrien (Chat Noir) has a crush on Ladybug. That's it. That's the ship. Nothing more to it!
Okay...well, things aren't so simple. Canon does give us a couple moments where this dynamic is toyed with, but they're few and far between, leading to a...less than adored ship in the fandom. Don't get me wrong, I love Ladrien! That's why I'm writing this after all, and surely there's others out there who ship it too! But when compared to Adrienette or Marichat...it falls flat on it's face due to the utter lack of content we have to work with. Thankfully, we at least have an established dynamic! And hey, with this show, even that's a bloody miracle!
However, I have seen a lot of people (in yee olden days) say they prefer other sides of the Square because Ladrien seems...a little dishonest. In their defense, it really wasn't hard to make the claim that Marinette's crush on Adrien was (by early S2) still quite superficial, considering they hadn't actually gotten to know eachother than well, and vice-versa for Adrien with Ladybug. I can see why, especially since these are the respective personas that are "least real". Adrien is forced to conform to his father's expectations and always be perfect, while Ladybug needs to be professional and has the city's safety to worry about, hence is unable to ever be genuinely "Marinette" while in the suit. Add to that all the identity shenanigans, and it's easy to see why this ship got pretty much dismissed by a large portion of fans back when it was still relevant. And given that Miraculous has since pivoted away from teen drama and more into the "crazy butterfly man wants to destroy the universe" territory, most ships except Adrienette (and Marichat in Elation) got left behind as the storyline progressed. Ladybug and Chat's relationship evoled, we had a whole arc where Adrien was depressed, etc. That's just the natural progression of storytelling. At some point, we have to move on with the plot.
Fortunately, I am here to present the opposite argument! Ladrien would actually be a very viable ship, especially because of this hero worship that afflicts both Marinette and Adrien! It makes for amazing and complicated interactions on both sides, and here's why! It's because Ladrien was misunderstood, or maybe even misrepresented by the show itself. In my humble opinion, it shouldn't (only) be about Adrien blushing the moment he sees his crush, or Ladybug stammering twenty times in a single sentence. That's all well and good, but look at that I said a moment ago. Ladrien, by the very nature of it's existence is dishonest. Neither Ladybug nor Adrien can be themselves with eachother, even if I have no doubt they would rush headfirst into some kind of secret romance if given the oppurtunity! But...that the point of this ship in my opinion. They both view each other as this perfect, can-do-no-wrong person and have placed one another on a pedestal higher than Lila's delusions! Ladrien is fundementally doomed to this flaw from the very start...but overcoming it is what's interesting!
Just...hear me out! Let's say that after Gorizilla (or some other Akuma with Adrien as a target), Ladybug goes to check on him post-battle to make sure he's okay. Maybe she visits him that night, and surprises him with her presence. They do their usual routine of blushing and stammering, and for one reason or the other, one of them confesses that they have a crush. Regardless of who it is, or how exactly this plays out, let's say for the sake of argument that they get together after another visit or two. Maybe Marinette thinks this is her chance and can't resist getting to know the boy she loves, maybe Adrien is the one to bring it up because Ladybug is his hero. The immediate first problem is that while they know eachother...they can't be honest with their partner. And this brings up an amazing character conflict!
For Marinette, it's possible she has doubts about herself and rationalizes that of course the Adrien Agreste would never see her, but be in love with Ladybug! There's a whole other can of worms here about Marinette's feelings in regards to her mask, but that's for another post. For Adrien, maybe he's a bit conflicted because Ladybug is in love with him...but not Chat Noir, who he considers to be the "real" him. And the more they interact, the more both of them realize that the other is blindsighted by the mask they wear. There's genuine moments sprinkled in between, but feelings of inadequacy keep them from truly connecting. Think "the wall between us" metaphor. But...just when it seems like neither of them is really that happy, when they start feeling like a mistake, both Ladybug and Adrien get a glimpse of the person behind the mask. She realizes that he isn't some perfect, unreachable guy, and he in turn figures out that she's trying so hard to be good enough for him. This can happen in an infinite amount of ways, and I guarantee there's at least some Ladrien fanfics out there that do it! And I'm really glad, because it means someone else gets it!
After this we have a myriad of possibilities as to how things could go, but regardless, things absolutely change in their dynamic. They slowly start to getting to know the person behind the mask. Naturally, they both find themselves even more in love, then eventualy there's a reveal somewhere there, they get together officially, etc. You get the point, right? The reason why Ladrien is interesting is the dichotomy between Maribug and Adrichat's identities. It's the idolization that blinds them slowly fading away to reveal the truth, it's the feelings of insecurity that plague their relationship until everything finally comes to a head! If Ladynoir is parters in battle to lovers, Adrienette is high school sweethears, and Marichat is friends to secret midnight visits to lovers, then Ladrien is idols to friends to lovers! And I absolutely adore their dynamic!
Now, I'm obviously not the first person to bring this up, since I distinctly recall some great Ladrien fics from back in the day with pretty much this plot. And the reason why I adore them is that they play into the inherent dishonesty so well! I hope my point has come across, and if anybody wants to add their own analysis, by all means feel free! This post is supposed to open up a new discussion after all. Anyway, I have to go take a day off and go through my old Ladrien bookmarks! I'll see you all next time, but until then, Stay Miraculous everyone!
