I posted this on my Twitter, but I thought I'd share it here, too! I isolated the audio from Charles' death scene to answer a commonly debated headcanon in fandom: did Charles go by something else when he was alive?

Well, at least in this video, I can confirm that all the "Friends" who killed him call him Charlie. 😭

I reckon that is what his peers, teachers, and, even his abusive father likely referred to him as... Charlie Rowland. Makes sense for a teenage boy in the 80s; particularly a sporty, alternative, charismatic boy like Charles who hung around "lad-types."

It's no wonder he flinched when Brad/Hunter called him Charlie Boy. This show really doesn't miss a single detail. It's brilliant and intentional in every single thing it does.

FUCK it deserves a season 2! It's so well-written and in its first season. *Chef's kiss* from beginning to end.

Thank you guys for voting in this, this is really interesting to me! I'm not surprised by the end result, but I am kind of fascinated by it, and I'll share my thoughts as to why under the cut if anyone is interested!

Like I said, the results of this poll are not surprising exactly, but extremely interesting to me. Bc if I had to rank these things under this criteria (which is the most upsetting/disturbing)... for me personally, Ulysses probably would have come in second. And I think there are a couple reasons for that.

1) I knew it was gonna happen in advance. My sister read this book aloud to me after she'd already finished it, and as we approached that point, I started to realize that's the direction it was headed (although for a while I was in abject denial about it). But as we got closer to The Event, I stopped my sister and straight up asked her to tell me if the baby dies. I don't think I could've handled it, or even wanted to finish the book otherwise. I needed the forewarning to soften the blow, so I intentionally had it spoiled for me.

2) We don't actually "see" the act being committed, we only see the aftermath, the end result. I think if Lyria had witnessed this new born baby being ripped from his mother's arms and... I don't even wanna say it, you all know what happened. If we'd gotten a play by play description of it happening, it would be the absolute worst one of them all hands down. But as much as it broke my fucking heart, the distance between us and the act of violence made it a little less... idk, haunting to my brain than some of the other ones.

These are the most twisted ones that are burned into my brain and have literally kept me up at night. Pierce Brown, you sick bastard.
