Summary: Your first match for Sweden

"And Sweden is making a substitute. On comes y/n Harder, Arsenal's youngest forward. Blackstenius makes way."

It's your first match for Sweden, the first of Sweden's euro qualifiers as well.

You high five Stina on your way onto the pitch.

It's a late substitution, maybe five minutes or so until the ninety minutes are up so you know you're the last kind of hail mary before this ends in a draw.

You pass some of your Arsenal teammates on the way to the corner that's being set up.

It's hardly the first time you've worn a Sweden jersey. You were a staple on the youth teams. You always had been.

Your first long term foster family had gotten you into football. They'd sorted you out with kit and gear and put you into a kid's football club to see if you liked it.

You really liked it.

Their foster license expired and you got moved but you never left your football behind.

Some families were more into it than others but none of them stopped you from pursuing your football.

Least of all Magda and Pernille.

You knew Magda from a distance when the senior team had come down to help out with whatever youth team you were on at the time. It was almost like fate that you got placed with her and Pernille over the summer.

It had been the best summer of your life both emotionally and physically.

They worked on your game while they were off season. They helped you with your studies and they took you out to the arcade and the beach and anywhere you wanted to go.

You didn't want to leave.

They didn't want you to leave.

There was a bunch of red tape around it, lots of meetings with lawyers and the judge and your care worker but by the time the next season rolled around, you had a new last name and two mothers.

Now, you're here.

Playing in Wembley Stadium for Sweden with Momma's last name emblazoned on your back.

You weave between Morsa and Johanna, slotting between them during the jostling to get into position.

The ball comes in and you make the jump.

It gets cleared away and England are on the counter attack quickly.

Magda peels away from your side quickly to sprint down the pitch to intercept while you follow at a more sedate pace.

Defending is not your role and you're not the greatest at it.

You've been bought onto this pitch for one thing and that's to score a goal.

You pass Lotte on your way and exchange a small smile with her. You've still got to go back to North London after this and you and Lotte are friends.

Morsa recovers the ball quickly and boots it up the pitch.

Most of your team was concentrated in your half of the pitch so the ball falls neatly to your feet.

You can feel Lotte at your back quickly, almost too quick for you to react but you turn even quicker, keeping the ball out of her reach.

You don't have any backup as you drive forward into the box.

Greenwood slides in for the tackle but you jump over neatly with the ball practically attached to your feet.

Charles and Bronze start closing in as you lose Lotte behind you.

The angle's getting tighter and tighter and Earps starts coming towards you to collect the ball.

You've driven into the box so quickly that there were no reinforcements for you to pass to.

So, you kicked the ball upwards just as Earps comes out.

The ball sores over her head before landing and rolling into the empty goal.

The Sweden supporters go wild as, seconds later, the ref blows the final whistle.

You scored.

The familiar arms of Morsa wraps around you from behind as you celebrate.

"Debut goal!" She cheers as the rest of the team finally run over.

You laugh. "Do you think Momma was watching?"

Of course she was.

She couldn't travel to watch, not with preparing for her own Euro qualifiers but your phone is ringing by the time you get back to the locker room.

"Hi," You say as you pick up, Pernille's face filling the screen.

"Debut goal," She teases and you look down bashfully.

"That's what Morsa said."

"It's impressive," Pernille says.

You roll your eyes. "It's my job."

"Still impressive. Don't sell yourself short."

"I'm a Harder," You reply," It's what we do."

Pernille grins at you, face full of pride. "Don't do that," She says," Celebrate, alright? You have my full permission to let loose and drink tonight, alright?"

You huff out a laugh. "You know most mothers wouldn't encourage underage drinking."

"I think I can make an exception tonight."

You and Charles had everything to be the perfect couple.

To have the perfect story.

A book-worthy one.

You were long-time friends.

Though your family wasn’t very fond of him, his family loved you, and that was enough. Over half of your friends in common hinted about you guys getting together. The dynamic was this good from the outside, and so was the tension whenever you were together. 

You would share desserts, dance with each other, sleep in the same bed after friends get together –nothing sexual ever happened, and maybe that’s the reason why it was so intimate and ground to tension flourish. It was beyond the physical. At least for you. 

It all took a turn when you finally moved to Monaco to study and work.

“Don’t cry, chérrie,” he cooed, lips finding a few droplets of tears and cutting short their path on your cheeks. You turned your head in his direction, closing your eyes and enjoying the feeling of his warm skin against yours, seeking the solace of it. 

The Monegasque read the way your body leaned in, the way your face felt hotter against his lips, and he lined his breathing with yours giving you enough time to pull back, but you didn’t. In fact, you broke the barrier of space between you two, pressing your lips in a feverish kiss. Charles answered in a second, gripping your waist and bringing you impossibly closer. His tongue was demanding, and his body against yours felt different than the other times. More intimate. 

“Fucking finally,” you could almost hear your friends with their hands up to the heavens, so you chuckled, ultimately breaking the kiss. Charles grinned.

“If I knew this is all it would take for you to smile I would have greeted you with a kiss,” his teasing earned a giggle from you.

[...] At the end of the day Charles would sleep at your place –or you at his– at least once a week. You would still share movie nights like when you were just friends. He would still send you funny TikTok he watched, and you were still telling him about all the books you read. 

Those were things boyfriends and girlfriends did, you knew that, nevertheless, you wanted to believe that he was planning something. Or that maybe he already saw you that way. Maybe he was afraid of the constant travel and the pressure of his career and media. Maybe he was trying to protect you from the fans. 

Charles never voiced any of this. Never sat down to talk about it, and you didn’t ask. Not until you graduated and got a job proposal in America. It wasn’t France, Germany, or Sweden, places you knew would be easier to gravitate to Monaco when the schedule let you. It was oceans apart, but it also felt like an opportunity to compromise, to keep your –hopefully official- relationship going. 

The thing is, life is unpredictable. You can’t guess what someone is feeling or how they will react. Your mom would always tell you that the heart is unknown ground – a place nobody will ever explore in its plenitude. You only get in the rooms the other allows, and even then inside there are tons of places that not even the owners visited. 

To know yourself is hard, and to know the other is even harder.

You didn’t know Charles.

HRH the Princess of Wales in 2023 ♛  

What an interesting year! The Queen of my Heart Princess of Wales' year hinged around the Coronation of King Charles III and she pulled off a truly stunning look at the event itself. She took her family volunteering with the Scouts, met the public twice (x, x), and even met Katie! Her early years work has continued, with the year starting with the Shaping Us: Campaign Launch, meetings with experts including Professor Marc Brackett, and ending with the Early Years Symposium. Catherine has also worked a lot with children and young people in general (x, x, x). This year, Catherine gained three new military positions (Fleet Air Arm, RAF Coningsby, and 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards). She has also undertaken lots of work with the military. She visited both the Welsh and Irish Guards on their national days, and she has joined training days throughout the year (x, x, x). The Princess of Wales has continued to develop her relationships with foreign royal families: she met with the Crown Prince couple of Norway and the Crown Princess Couple of Sweden at Windsor Castle; she met multiple royals at the Heads of State pre-coronation event, including her royal bestie Felipe, whom she also met at Wimbledon; and she joined a huge amount of royals at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa al Saif. As always, a lot of Catherine's work has been linked to the arts, with a surprise appearance at Eurovision, and re-opening two different museums (x, x). The Princess of Wales continued her role as the Queen of Sports, with multiple Wimbledon appearances (x, x, x), a surprise video with Roger Federer to promote the role of ball boys and girls, multiple Rugby World Cup visits (x, x), an appearance at a 6 Nations match, and several rugby related engagements (x, x, x). Catherine has visited Wales multiple times, Scotland once and a half, and made a truly unexpected podcast appearance, but nothing was as notable as her long-awaited textiles engagements!

disclaimer - i don't think i'm capable of writing smut, i'd just piss myself i can't do that-. but still request loves. i LOVE writing fluff, i'm not a big angst kinda gal ngl-. i really appreciate it when people leave notes on how the writing was and any grammar or spelling mistakes, although with my extremely dangerous case of perfection-.

i'm not comfortable writing anything even slightly suggestive for a character that is underage, but i'm happy to write platonic! young reader x players.

new note - i'm comfortable writing about players who are in established relationships, but married/engaged relationships is something i don't think i will do, unless it's platonic. unless i love them a lot like, - stephy, sammy, kristie, ellie, dvd ect.

To Mbappe and the Charles Barkley quote of the past…

well many many people in the usa choose as a role model human beings who enslaved other humans/ commit incest with first cousins/ experimented cruelly on other humans beings/ committed annihilations of whole groups of other human beings/ordered the assasination of other human ebings…. so… athletes who curse or have mistresses or cheat on wives to me shouldn't be discounted when thomas jefferson/hitler/winston churchill/malcolm x/jfk/barack obama are many peoples role model today …. barkley can speak for himself but i have always despised as a writer that commercial. it misinterprets how role models work , it is not up to the individual to tell others if they should idolize them as a role model, people choose to make someone a role model whether that person wants others to make them a role model or not. …to the source of the sewer… i don't know Clayton, it is dangerous to assume who is behind these things, we all know all the big money clubs have a media department designed to influence their image or attack "enemies" 🙂 But we also know that in modern times, many lawyers/media publications make their money on these cases. Remember the johnny depp amber heard public trial made millions of dollars on their viewing. media organizations could be behind the strengthening of this, even if it is legally amounting to nothing, the financial possibilities are very good with a player as high profile as mbappe. and sweden as a country is very wealthy and invested in many arenas.

I agree these entities are dog water and the topics sewer but these are important institutions in the modern game and even the distasteful sides of them have impacts that effect the beautiful game and can’t be ignored.
