"I know. I love hearing my lines in your work. I like that I inspire you." His smile crinkled the corners of his eyes, nothing but utter delight in it. He might not recognize all of them--Levi wasn't as attentive to his own words as Cath probably was, or as he was to hers--but he remembered enough. It always did something funny to his heart to know he affected her that way, enough to influence her writing, which he knew from experience was closer to her heart than almost anything. God knew she affected him that way. He might not be able to put it into writing the way she did, but he loved her, like a song, like a sonnet, like a 10k slow burn about your OTP.
"Oh, am I distracting you? I'm sorry." Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth, his smile widening into something like glee. Distracting Cath was one thing. Distracting Cath from Simon Snow was an entirely different thing. They should give him a medal and put his face on the wall of heroes. His arms curled tighter around her when she turned, tucking her close against him. She fit like a puzzle piece. He loved the shape of her, her warmth and her curves, something solid for him to cling to. "You could quote the books at me though. I bet you know the whole first chapter by heart. Go on, I want to hear it."
“You keep staring at me instead of watching the film. What’s up?”
"Huh? Nothing." He smiled lazily, his gaze flicking back to the movie playing on the tablet. He was curled up behind Cath in her bed in her dorm, an arm around her waist, a couple of warm blankets tucked over both of them. Most of the campus's evening activities had been canceled due to the snow, and a glance out the window said tomorrow's probably would be too. It was coming down in thick, fluffy flakes, and he already didn't relish the thought of clearing off the windows of his truck for the drive home.
But that was a problem for future Levi. Neither wind nor rain nor snow could have pried him out of the warm coziness of Cath's bed right now. When she caught him at it again, he gave a quiet chuckle. "Sorry. I know this movie by heart. Your face is more interesting." He tucked his face into her hair, murmuring the next few lines in her ear. He wasn't a good reader, but his memory was excellent. Almost anything he heard, he remembered. He could have recited the Simon Snow movies almost verbatim, but watching her watch her favorite films never got old. He loved looking at her while she was absorbed in something, when she forgot to school her face to keep people at a distance.
The first time it happened, she let it slide when he said nothing, settling easily back against his chest and curled under the blanket. Cath from years ago would have never believed this would be the situation she ended up in. In love. Cuddled under blankets in her dorm with a guy -- one that she still believed was completely and utterly out of her league. She was resting her cheek on a pillow, her eyes glued onto the screen of the tablet that was set up on a streaming service that had the Simon Snow movies on them -- she owned all of them, but who owned a DVD player anymore?
She felt his eyes on hers once more, and called him out on it once more, turning her head to look over her shoulder at him and raising an eyebrow. His words sent a flush to her cheeks, shaking her head and turning it back to focus on the screen. "I use so many of your lines in my writing now." Her eyebrows rose when he murmured lines into her ear, shivering at the way his breath felt against her ear and clearing her throat. "You're extremely distracting, Levi Stewart," she muttered, shaking her head as she reached over to pause the movie. She turned in his arms, her own wrapping around him to tuck her head under his chin. "I still don't understand how you can remember everything. I've watched these movies thousands of times, and I don't even know them that well." The books? She knew like the back of her hand.

Rear Window is one of those movies that's so well known that it's been satirized and plagiarized an absolute ton. I've certainly seen the Simpsons episode where Bart thinks that Ned Flanders killed his wife long before I even knew that it was a reference to the film.
All the retellings I see are just about a guy that thinks he witnessed a murder while confined to his room/apartment. That is the plot of the film but it's only the surface level. James Stewart's character constantly gets distracted by a lonely woman living alone, or the newlywed couple. His interest in the murder isn't due to a strong sense of justice, he's just bored and trying to entertain himself.
It's basically the same kind of criticism levied against true crime podcasts; you're watching this film because you view murder as entertainment. Hitchcock is mocking the audience for finding the movie enjoyable. It's a layer of depth that I didn't realize the movie had, and I think it's a real shame that someone else might miss out on it for that reason.

Lucy Hale To Star As An Antarctica Scientist Battling An Evil Entity In ‘White Mars’; XYZ Launches For AFM With Filming This Month At Cinecittà
EXCLUSIVE: Truth Or Dare and Scream 4 star Lucy Hale is set to channel Alien‘s Ellen Ripley and The Thing‘s R. J MacReady in sci-fi-thriller White Mars.
Set in an isolated Aquila Research Facility in Antarctica, White Mars follows microbiologist Sammie (Hale), as she fights to save her fellow crew members from a malevolent entity whose sole intention is to extinguish them all.
Martin Owen (Above The Below) is directing from a script by Matt Mitchell, Vicki Sargent, and Roo Berry. The film is set to start principal photography on November 11, 2024, at Cinecittà Studios in Rome and will be shot entirely in a virtual production environment.
White Mars is the first feature to be announced for Singularity, an entertainment company “specializing in virtual production and streamlined processes for independent films”.
Pretty Little Liars actress Hale most recently starred in Hulu’s #1 hit movie Which Brings Me To You and the romantic comedy Puppy Love. Previously she starred in The Hating Game based on the hit novel and the AMC crime series, Ragdoll.
Owen is in post-production on Above The Below, starring Idris Elba, which he co-directed with Elba.
Lucy Hale said: “White Mars is an absolute psychological thrill ride, and I’m so excited to film this at the Cinecittà film stages in Rome. At the heart of this story is Sammie, a character I truly admire for her resilience and strength. I can’t wait to collaborate with Martin Owen, our incredible cast, and the entire team to bring this story to life.”
Matt Williams added: “I am excited for this to be the first of a multi-slate of films with the team at XYZ and Singularity. Together we will be bringing technologically advanced movie making to the independent market to compete visually with high end studio films. We are thrilled that Lucy is joining us on this action-packed sci-fi adventure as her character battles the sinister forces that threaten us all.”
XYZ’s recent sales slate includes Flesh of the Gods starring Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac, He Bled Neon with Joe Cole and Rita Ora, Kill Me with Allison Williams and Charlie Day, and Free Fall starring Zachary Levi.

I think I've seen 3 or 4 live action adaptations of Snow White and, frankly none of them have impressed me, and nothing about the upcoming version has me excited. Compare this to Cinderella, which has had many many adaptations. Some of them great. Some of them not so great. I don't understand why they have such a hard time adapting Snow White.
I completely agree- Cinderella, generally, seems to take to better translations than Snow White depictions which, in my opinion, is why the 1937 film is so special. I think with Cinderella, with as specific as it is, there are certain themes that could be interpreted in a more broad way (abuse, the under dog, rags to riches) and that's why it fares better. Snow White, on the other hand, is never really understood by the people who remake it. Like, watching interviews of Kristen Stewart and Lily Collins talk about the character, nothing they're saying is rooted in the fairytale princess and you could interchange any princess or female lead into what they're saying and it'd be passable. That's the frustrating thing, too, in all the people supporting Rachel Zegler's misreading of the character. They say things like "Snow White WAS weak, and that's okay! It's time to change" or they go back to the original story and all paint her as stupid for the three attempts on her life and they literally all parrot the same "she was a reactive character that things happened to and she never moved the story forward in a meaningful way!" And those things aren't true, especially in the Disney movie, but even in the original story. People just don't know how to read fairytales anymore and all these defenders, and Rachel herself, are picking up a story that never connected with them and revisiting it after decades spent without it with the same really basic and flawed take. That's why it's imperative that people who actually enjoy the stories they're telling are the ones doing so. Do you know how many countless Snow White collectors and researchers and museum curators actually do understand and could've served this production way better? But, back to your original statement, I think people struggle with remaking Snow White because they're operating under the false assumption that her character is a blank slate that they have to build from scratch and that isn't the case and is why Snow White, herself, is nowhere to be found outside of the original animated Disney classic. Also, the classics- Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora- are the most difficult to cast because of how natural they are as characters. They don't have a shtick to fall back on or one word to describe them- they're nuanced. You can't reduce them to the 'zany' girl, or the brainy one or the nerdy one or the feisty one. There's so much to them and I think people have gotten used to the characterizations that are reliant on one attribute, whether it's a single defining characteristic or interest, and using that to levy their interpretation.

Really happy so far with what James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed of the first part of the new DCU slate!!! :D Chapter 1 is going to be called “Gods and Monsters”. Nice to see that this will have no affect on Matt Reeves’ movies/shows, “Joker 2″, the 2nd “Constantine” films, if the CW keeps any of their DC shows for next season, and the other cartoon series as they’ll all be branded as “DC Elseworlds” from now on. They also said that “Superman and Lois” will be able to go on till at least 2025 when their movie comes out but it’s The CW’s decision and they could get a final season next season if this one isn’t written to work that way. Also they will be keeping some of the current actors after “The Flash” movie creates this new DCU with Gal Galdot’s Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, Zachary Levi’s Shazam, the “Blue Beetle” cast, Voila Davis’ Amanda Waller, and the entire “Peacemaker” cast all being confirmed to be a part of this new universe. They haven’t decided yet about Ezra Miller but I have a feeling they might just bring in Wally West as another Flash going by the new slate. So here’s my thoughts on the new movies/shows in order of how they’ll be released though “Peacemaker” season 2 is also now a part of it. The shows too will all be on HBO Max.
Creature Commandos (TV): This one is new to me as it’s a group of characters similar to the Universal Monsters that band together. It’ll be an animated show too but the actors who voice them will also play them in live action so that will be cool and it will fully connect to the other movies, shows, and games.
Waller (TV): This is the show James has been working on about Amanda Waller and it’ll include Viola Davis and fully connect to “Peacemaker”.
Superman Legacy (movie): This was the Superman movie already revealed with a new actor to be cast and we know he’ll be in his 20s and trying to live his life as a journalist and as Superman. It’s been dated now for July 2025.
Lanterns (TV): This is a new version of the “Green Lantern” show that was originally in the works from Greg Berlanti but is now being fully by Gunn and Safran. Very cool that Hal Jordan and John Stewart are going to be the leads of the first season though others will appear.
The Authority (movie): This is another I don’t know that much about but it sounds cool. I do recognize a few characters the mentioned from the comics and having appeared on shows like “Stargirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow”.
Paradise Lost (TV): This one sounds really cool as it’s a prequel about the Amazons before Diana was born. They even compared it to “Games to Thrones”. Sounds like it will still connect to Gal’s version too.
Batman & Robin: The Brave and the Bold (movie): This one got me excited as it’s another Batman movie but the Robin in this is his actual son Damian Wayne!!! :D They also confirmed the rest of the Batfamily will be in this too and starting their own movies connected of them. With Damian already here this means that Dick/Nightwing, Barbara/Batgirl/Oracle, and at least Jason/Red Hood should be around as well as Alfred. Possibly could include Tim/Red Robin, Stephanie/Spoiler, and Cassandra/Black Bat as James said these characters have been long neglected by the Batman films. Depends on what Reeves is doing too but I think they’ll be fine with Dick already as an adult here and if he’s a still a teen in Reeves’ movies/shows. They will be casting a new Bruce/Batman, so curious to find out who that will be. They also dated “The Batman 2″ for October 2025 too.
Booster Gold (TV): This has also been in the works for years and he too showed up on “Legends of Tomorrow” so it’s finally happening.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (movie): This will be cool to see too. Though not sure if Kara will still be played by Sasha Calle like in “The Flash” movie or if it’ll be a new actress as Sasha’s seems to be tied to Henry Cavill’s. They didn’t mention Sasha either as staying so might be another recast.
Swamp Thing (movie): This one has me so excited!!! :D I’ve loved Swamp Thing for years and that he’ll be in the movies again and tied to this new DCU. It’s going to be darker than the other movies and shows listed here and end the first chapter leading into the 2nd chapter.
Overall I’m really excited and glad they’re doing this more like Marvel now with such a larger plan and focusing on getting the scripts done first before they film. Also looking forward to finding out the castings as this is going to be a lot of actors.

My name is Sam Levy and I’m a senior at Eckerd College with a major in Communications and a minor in human development. I’m really looking forward to making my way to the Sundance Film Festival and being exposed to the culture of independent film and indie filmmaking.
5 Feature Films:
Ponyboi
This movie revolves around an intersex, sex worker who is running from the mob after a drug deal goes wrong on a Valentine's day in New Jersey. This caught my eye because it stars Dylan O’Brien who is an actor that I love. I look forward to seeing an intersex perspective.
How To Have Sex
This movie looks like utter chaos which is something that really drew me to the film. It follows three British teenagers who are battling their own depictions of sexuality and sex. I wonder how this film articulates sex.
I Saw the TV Glow
This midnight special is about a teen who is exposed to a supernatural late night TV show. With a view into the supernatural world, the teens' reality begins to blur. I’m drawn to this movie because of how interesting the concept is and it’s an A24 film and I love that production company.
Freaky Tales
I’m very drawn to this movie because it covers several different story lines but they’re all interconnected. All the characters are presented with obstacles that they need to overcome. Pedro Pascal is one of the main characters and I’m also a big fan of his work so I look forward to seeing this premiere.
Love Lies Bleeding
When I watched the trailer for this film I was immediately sold and it had to make the list of my top five movies I want to watch. It’s a queer horror/romance movie and those are all genres that I love to see.
“‘Love Lies Bleeding’ Trailer: Kristen Stewart Seduces a Bodybuilder in Queer Romance Thriller”
5 Short Films:
Bug Diner
I’m looking forward to this animated short film because I love the animation style and the plot as well which revolves around two bugs that go to a diner and drama unfolds. This short film looks chaotic and funny all at the same time and I look forward to seeing what happens at the bug diner.
The Rainbow Bridge
This is a midnight short film program tha’s about a woman and her dog. These two have an unnatural bond. I think that this concept is really interesting because of this prior knowledge that I have associated with the word rainbow bridge. I look forward to having questions answered when I watch the short film.
SHÉ (SNAKE)
This is another midnight short film program which is about a violinist who begins to go down a dark path of being the best violinist at her school. The description reminds me of Whiplash, but with a darker, more sinister twist.
guts
This is about a woman in recovery who asks a random stranger on a dinner date. This intrigued me because I have not seen a lot of comedy media that focuses on recovery and I wonder how this short film will play out.
Say Hi After You Die
This film piqued my interest because it follows a grieving woman who convinced herself that her deceased best friend has come back as a porta-potty. This is a very different topic that I haven’t seen before. It looks like it will be both funny and emotional.
2 Indie/Episodic Films:
Lolla: The Story of Lollapalooza
I’m most looking forward to this episodic series due to the fact that I’m a big music fan and love to learn more about the stories behind these massive festivals. This covers the summer of 1991 and the first Lollapalooza which completely changed the culture of music festivals. I love music festivals so this interests me.
La Mesías (Episodic Pilot Showcase)
I’m eager to watch this episodic pilot because it follows two siblings who have a toxic relationship with their mother. Family dynamics are a genre that intrigues me because of past experiences. It’s always interesting to see other perspectives woven into the storyline.

Looking ahead to 2024 trailers!
The year is almost over, and we have a boatload of trailers coming up for 2024: sequels, prequels, monsters, superheroes, and even imaginary friends! Let's take a look:
Role Play: David Oyelowo's attempt to spice up his marriage takes a very real turn when he finds out his wife (Kayley Cuoco) is an assassin. So it's basically one half of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
The Underdoggs: Snoop Dogg coaches a kids football team. Well, he already had a cooking show with Martha Stewart, so why not?
Madame Web: I guess every Spider-Man character is getting a spin-off now. I remember Madame Web from the 90s cartoon, and quite frankly, I would have preferred Helen Mirren for the role instead of Dakota Johnson.
Arthur the King: True story of a wounded stray dog that wound up following an adventure racing team in the Dominican Republic. I'm glad we know ahead of time there's a happy ending.
Good Grief: Dan Levy's directorial debut, where he goes to Paris with friends after losing his mother and father. I love Dan Levy, and this looks great, so I am so watching this.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F: Oh yes, Eddie Murphy is BACK!
Miller's Girl: Something creepy is going on between a teacher (Martin Freeman) and his student (Jenna Ortega). This better not turn out to have the student be a psycho stalker while the older man is the innocent victim. That trope has aged like milk.
Godzilla vs Kong: The New Empire: Don't care.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga: I didn't think Furiosa's movie was going to be a prequel. It looks awesome, but (and no disrespect to Anya Taylor-Joy), I wish we could've gotten Charlize Theron back.
Civil War: Oh man. This looks intense...and unfortunately the conspiracy theorists and MAGATS are already having a field day with this.
The Secret Society of Magical Negroes: The movie isn't already out yet and already it's polarizing people. Some are applauding the satire, and others are calling it racist. I'm not the right person to offer my opinion, so I'm not gonna.
Imaginary: A horror movie about an imaginary friend in the form of a teddy bear.
IF: Another more family-friendly movie about imaginary friends, only they're trying to find new children after being abandoned. John Krazinski directs, Ryan Reynolds stars, and there's one heck of an A-list cast, so I'm in!
Kung Fu Panda 4: Po (Jack Black) gets a new protege (Awkwafina) and fights The Chameleon (Viola Davis), who brings back his old enemy Tai Lung (Ian McShane). Oh, and Ke Huy Quan voices a pangolin!

DCEU in general part 2
A while ago I made an editorial where I pointed out the DCEU`s lack of planning and came up with my own idea on how to structure the DCEU. I ended that editorial with Justice League 3 because I felt that a cinematic universe didn`t have to keep on going indefinitely. But after a while I felt that I still had a few ideas left for my own version of the DCEU, and now that the folks at Warner Bros have decided to try a new DC universe and use Marvel`s approach and actually structure it this time I feel that I should strike while the iron is hot and let these ideas out. If they had planned the DCEU from the beginning there wouldn`t be a need for Flash to reboot the universe in his (by the time I`m writing this) upcoming movie. At least not this early. If I knew then what I know now, would I have hired Ezra Miller, Jared Leto, Amber Heard and Zachary Levi? No, I don`t think so. If I could run so fast that I could screw the laws of physics and travel backwards in time, again, this is how I would have continued my version of the DCEU.
TV series Since there are a lot of characters that I want to put in this universe but I don`t think there is enough time for me to do so, if I were to only focus on the movies, I decided to include TV series in the DCEU. I don`t think there would be a need for a Flash show since he would already have his own movie. I think I`d cast Grant Gustin as Barry Allen. I could give Supergirl a series though.
Green Arrow series After Man of Steel has premiered there could be a Green Arrow TV series that takes place within the DCEU. The show could introduce characters like Black Canary, Speedy, Huntress and the Question.
Constantine series I would definitely want Matt Ryan as John Constantine. The show could introduce supernatural and occult characters like Zatanna, Dr Fate, Etrigan the demon, Phantom Stranger, deadman and the Spectre (who was technically introduced in an episode in the real show).
Supergirl series Like I said: there wouldn`t be any need for for a Flash series but I there should be room for a Supergirl series. After she has had her first appearance in Man of Steel 2 she could star in her own TV series, and have a cameo now or then in the Green Arrow series.
In my previous editorial "Constructive criticism: DCEU in general" I wrote "Then do some sequels to Green Lantern, The Flash and Aquaman (doesn`t necessarily have to be in that order)" but I didn`t go into any details (because I didn`t have any ideas for those movies at that time). So I want to takes this opportunity to retroactively add some ideas to those phase 3 movies, and put a little meat on the bones of the Cyborg Solo movie.
Solo Cyborg movie Cyborg fights some terrorists that he finds out are involved in the accident that almost killed him and led to him becoming the cyborg he is now.
Green Lantern 2 Since there can now be more than one Green Lantern per sector, Hal Jordan recruits a partner: John Stewart, a marine who now works as an architect. Their first mission as an intergalactic, crimefighting duo: To escort a witness to a trial where he can give a testimony. A testimony that could hopefully bring down a mob boss, and said mob boss has hired a bounty hunter to kill the witness. The Bounty hunter is none other than Lobo, the last czarnian. Also: turns out that there is another man who was worthy of becoming a Green Lantern: Guy Gardner. Hal picked John Stewart because he was closer. In a mid-credit scene Guy Gardner is visited by Krona who tells him this and as consolation offers him a yellow lantern ring.
The Flash 2 You know how every Indiana Jones movie (and James Bond movie) always starts with the main character right in the middle of a previous adventure? That`s how this movie could start. First Flash fights and defeats Trickster in the first five minutes. His struggle to prove his dad`s innocence continues, he fights Mirror Master (the main antagonist) and in the end Iris reveals to Barry that she knows that he is the Flash. Mid credit scene: Weather Wizard frees Mirror Master and Trickster from prison and introduce them to Captain Cold.
Aquaman 2 Aquman is growing into his role as a king, acts as a mentor figure to a young atlantean named Garth (Aqualad) and has a son now named Arthur Jr. Arthur Jr. is kidnapped by Black Manta who almost kills him but thanks to Garth, Arthur Jr. survives. Aquaman fights Manta and almost kills him but decides to spare his life and sentence him to prison. Mid-credit scene: An alantean breaks Black Manta out of prison. He works for someone who wants Manta to help them defeat Aquaman and take over Altantis.
Phase 4
Man of Steel 4 Superman is kidnapped by Mongul and is forced to fight as a gladiator on Mongul`s "Warworld". He is still strong but weakened by the planet`s orange sun and in order to survive, defeat Mongul and escape Warworld he has to team up with... Lobo. In the end Mongul is defeated, the prisoners are freed and Superman takes a spaceship and hopes that it will be enough to take him home back to Earth.
Green Lantern 3 Hal Jordan and John Stewart teams up with Carol Ferris who is in possesion of a Star Sapphire ring (that works similar to the Green Lantern ring) to fight Sinestro, Krona, Guy Gardner and Doctor Hector Hammond who have their own Yellow Lantern rings. In the end though, Guy turns on the yellow lantern gang and takes the side of the heroes.
Steel (See my constructive criticism of Steel)
Wonder woman 3 Diana, Cheetah and Supergirl teams up to fight Ares (the real one this time), who has been freed from his prison by Circe, Phobos and Deimos.
Flash 3 Barry finally gets his father out of prison. Also: he fights the Rogues: Weather Wizard, Trickster, Mirror Master, Captain Cold and Captain Boomerang. (Captain Boomerang has had the explosives that were planted in his neck removed and joins the Rogues as a quid pro quo.) But since Captain Boomerang had a character arc in Suicide Squad he turns on the Rogues in the third act.
Aquaman 3 Aquaman (and Garth) has to fight Eochaid Bres who has allied herself with Black Manta.
Justice League 4 Superman finally returns to Earth. JL fights Brainiac. Yes, I know, in my previous editorial I thought that it would be a good idea to use up Brainiac in Man of Steel 2. But since Brainiac is a pretty big deal when it comes to villains it would be better to save him for a Justice League movie. So I would like to retroactively change my villain idea for Man of Steel 2. Instead Superman and Supergirl could fight... Mr Mxzpltk. Because why not?
Phase 5
Joker movie A new inmate at Arkham Asylum who has the Joker as his role model convinces the Joker to tell his backstory. The Joker tells the tragic story of his life. His name was Joe and he was a janitor at Ace chemicals who had dreams of becoming a comedian. There was a woman that he loved, but she died. in the end he joined a gang of criminals who one night decided to rob Ace chemicals. Batman showed up, defeated the other members of the gang and threw poor Joe into the vat of chemicals. He was flushed out into a river, crawled up on land, had a mental breakdown and laughed at the nightsky like a madman. He was now the Joker. The new inmate notices a few inconsistencies in Joker`s story however. Riddler and Poison Ivy who has been sitting there and listened to the story with him tells him that the Joker does this all the time, he makes up new versions of his past. As far as they know, he has no true back story. The inmate is disappointed and leaves, the Joker himself just thought it was fun and has a good laugh.
Swamp thing It begins In Medias Res in the swamps of Louisiana. A bunch of goons are harassing Alec Holland, he tells them to go away, they blow up his lab, on flames he throws himself into the swamp. He passes out and wakes up as the Swamp thing. We find out more about his life before he accident a little later. John Consantine shows up and helps him discover some powers that he didn`t know he had. Then a giant threat of some kind shows up and Swamp thing has to fight it.
Green Lantern 4 Hal Jordan gets possessed by Parallax and John Stewart, Guy Gardner and Carol Ferris has to fight him. In the end Parallax is driven out of Hal`s body but is not quite defeated. You can`t destroy energy after all, and you can`t defat fear by punching it. Hal, feeling that he is no longer worthy to use the green lantern ring gives it to Guy who reluctantly accepts it.
Shazam 2 The Shazam family has to fight Dr Sivana who has teamed up with Mr Mind and Black Adam.
Harley and Ivy Nothing against Birds of Prey (and the fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn) but I had my own idea for a Harley Quinn movie that I really like. Harley has been dumped by the Joker and thrown out on the streets. Poison Ivy gives her a place to stay. Harley decides to commit a crime to show herself that she`s better off without the Joker and doesn`t need him anymore, she`s gonna steal the MacGuffin diamond. But it turns out that Roman Sionis (Black Mask) also wants the diamond, and Huntress wants to prevent both of them from stealing it. In the end Catwoman comes out of nowhere and steals the diamond from them. Black Mask is angry, Huntress is angry and so is Harley, but only temporarily. Harley realizes that she got what she needed: a fun adventure with a friend who cares about and respects her: Ivy. It ends with them under the moon, sitting on a rooftop and sharing a pizza. Harley kisses Ivy and then realizes something about herself. Harley: "I think I`m bi." Ivy: "I think so too."
Batman film A scientist named Kirk Langstrom has created a serum that turns him into a big, human-like bat. A Man-bat if you will. Batman has to find him before Prof. Hugo Strange does. Hugo wants to use Man-bat`s DNA to create more bat-creatures but Batman wants to save him. Hugo is also a skilled psychological manipulator and uses these skills to try to get into Batman`s head.
Justice League 5 An adaptation of the tower of Babel
Phase 6
Man of Steel 5 Supes fights an evil, alternate reality version of himself called Ultraman and gets help from a good, alternate reality version of Lex Luthor*. Mid-credit scene: A satellite orbiting the Earth. A large man in a futuristic armor talks to his assistant, a woman named Harbringer. The man himself is called... Monitor. *Both Ultraman and Good Lex come from the same alternate universe which I will name the Ultraman universe.
Lobo movie Lobo does his usual thing, then he gets transported to an alternate reality, one where the forces of Darkseid defeated the Justice League in the first JL movie*. At first Lobo likes living in a world where the good guys didn`t win, but then he realizes how boring it is. In the end Lobo returns to his home dimension. Mid-credit scene: We are introduced to the Anti-Monitor! *I will call this the Darkseid won universe
Cyborg sequel Victor Stone is reunited with an old, charismatic friend: Ronald Evers. He finds out that Ronald is involved in criminal activity and has to fight him.
Flash 4 Flash VS Reverse Flash. also: Mid-credit scene with Monitor and Harbinger
Wonder woman 4 Diana become a mentor figure to Donna Troy, a young girl whose parents have just died. Donna has superpowers and turns out to be part amazon. Diana lets her live on Themiscyra but it turns out that Donna is a sleeper agent of Circe. It turns out that many years ago, Circe cut off a strand of hair from Diana when she was just a kid and used it to make Donna. They fight, Donna gets her mind back and hates that someone used her like a puppet. In the end she and Diana fight Circe.
Aquaman 4 Orm returns and is now allied with Starro the conqueror, a creature that looks like a giant starfish that uses tiny copies of itself that can latch on to other beings and control them.
Justice League 6 Adaptation of Crisis on Infinite Earths. (We get to revisit the Ultraman universe and the Darkseid won universe.) Guy Gardner gives the green lantern ring back to Hal Jordan (He doesn`t need it, he still has his own yellow lantern ring.) because they need all the heroes they can get.
You may have noticed that I haven`t come up with many Batman movies, there`s only 3 of them if you count Batman V Superman. That is because there have been so many Batman movies over the years, it`s like he`s almost the only character from DC Comics that Warner Bros are not afraid to make movies about. As if they don`know about any other characters. So I felt that the dark Knight could step aside so that some the other heroes got a chance to shine. There would still be plenty of room for the caped crusader though, he would appear in all the Justice League movie and have cameos in several of the other characters`movies, kinda like MCU`s Nick Fury.
So anyway, those are my ideas for a DCEU that could have been. Originally I was gonna stop at phase 3 because I think that a big superhero cinematic universe should eventually stop and not go on forever. Kind of like, quit while you`re ahead. I know, not a very capitalist way of thinking. But then I started thinking about how the other characters hadn`t gotten their movie trilogies, how some elements felt like they were left dangling, untapped potential and how writing these little essays is a fun excercise in creativity. And hearing about James Gunn`s plans for a more organized DC movie universe also contributed in reigniting my interest for more stories in this universe that never happened. After making these movies I would step down as the creative producer guy (or whatever the title is), in this alternate universe where I got to be the Kevin Fiege of the DCEU, and let someone else take over.
But it may be possible that I come back some day in the future and say "Hey, you guys! I`ve come up with some ideas for phase 7 to 9 in my own version of the DCEU!" since my decision to stop after phase 3 didn`t last.
Oh well, with all that said, I look forward to see what James Gunn has in store for us. ------------------------------------------------------ Written stuff: 50
Started writing this: 2023-03-11
Other movies on my Constructive Criticism list that you can look forward to
Burton`s Batman Schumacher`s Batman Supergirl (1984) Jonah Hex (2010) Dragonball evolution The Spirit (2008) The Dark Knight trilogy
And as usual: English is not my first language, so if my writing doesn`t seem to flow naturally, you know why.

Alternate Gotham-Character Names:
my perspective thus subjective
Bruce -> still Bruce but I could also see Wilson depending on which mask of himself he’s playing.
Dick -> His nickname suits him I think but Richard is slightly less fitting because its a little too stern sounding. I can see him being a Gareth or even Jimin if his parents chose names from the world-pool they had available.
Jason -> It…. kind of suits him? Post pit-rage Red Hood? Absolutely. Little Robin from the street? Not really? Like yes, but also- Miguel or Michael, maybe Mitch later, really fit in my mind
Tim -> I associate him with Tim but it doesn’t suit him in my opinion. He looks like a Stewart or Dylan depending on the activity he’s doing.
Damian -> Yes. Suits him. No alternatives. Though y’all could give me a break and spell it with an E sometimes you cowards.
Duke -> It sort of suits him, in a potential way. Elliott or Levi are names I can definitely picture him using easily.
Alfred -> Definitely fits, but I can see a variety of names for this versatile man.
Barbara -> Uhhhh there’s more options than I think anyone else would agree with, but Cameron is really sticking out as possible.
Steph -> I deadass got Steph and Cass confused for awhile (don’t ask) so Id say Cassandra and Madeline both fit her.
Cass ->
Selina ->
This has been in my drafts too long so now you must deal with it

♢ Levi Stewart (21+) ⭒ Fangirl ⭒ Luke Benward ♢
♢ name: Levi Stewart ♢ age: 21+ ♢ faceclaim: Luke Benward ♢ occupation: Starbucks barista ♢ education: Range management major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln ♢ family: N/A
♢ history: There are spoilers for Fangirl ahead. Levi grew up in the small (read: microscopic) town of Arnold, Nebraska, raised among a happy family on ranch life. Arnold's extremely limited dating pool brought him his first girlfriend, Reagan, but circumstance wasn't enough to keep them together, especially with her inability to remain faithful. They broke up but stayed friends, even after Levi started dating her college roommate, Cath.
He'd always known he wanted to stay in ranching, and university could help him modernize the family business and keep it relevant. Though he struggles to read anything longer than a Starbucks order (likely an undiagnosed learning disability), he can remember almost anything he hears, and he gets by in his classes with audiobooks and recording the lectures (or, in a pinch, charming someone into reading out loud to him).
♢ verses: ⭒ canon (+/-): Levi's main verse, where he's a college student.
♢ wishlist: ⭒ Crossovers with other fandoms like Riverdale or Gossip Girl

Hello!! I haven’t heard of peace on earth / little drummer boy or the movies you mentioned but I will check them out!! As for me my favorite Christmas song is all I want for Christmas by Mariah Carey. I know it’s basic but I love it!! I also have to say Christmas tree farm (old timey version) is another one of my fave.
My fave Christmas movies are let it snow (on Netflix) and happiest season even though the ending was not quite desirable, I still enjoyed it. Also home alone!!!
How about books? Or tv shows? Do you have any favorites? -winter anon
oh my gosh, i meant to mention happiest season, but it slipped my mind! specifically for that scene near the end where dan levy's character is talking to kristen stewart's character outside
christmas tree farm is a very good christmas song even if i weren't a swiftie! good taste!
my favorite book is a thousand splendid suns by khaled hosseini. i'm also a big fan of john green's work, and an absolutely remarkable thing by hank green. and i love love love all of casey mcquiston's work, but especially red, white & royal blue. i relate so much to so many of the characters in that book.
as far as tv shows go, my current obsession is 911 lone star. i also love schitt's creek, the good place, and heartstopper. how about you?

katrinilves Nov 30, 2021 it may be November 30th but it's never too early to start the seasonal Christmas romcom marathon. Starting now and ending when I run out of steam or there are no more Christmas romcoms to be had on my streaming services, whichever is the sooner. 🧵
katrinilves Nov 30, 2021 CASTLE FOR CHRISTMAS (2021)
Look, I both love and hate this. It's offensive and ridiculous. It's funny. This is a mythical Scotland in which geography bends to whim. I live for Cary Elwes and his grumpy face. There's a dog. I watched on mute. 6/10
katrinilves Dec 1, 2021 HAPPIEST SEASON (2020)
Ten million points for being gay. Perfect blend of chaos and Christmas. I want every Christmas romcom to star Kristen Stewart and Dan Levy from now on. I would dock points for the gay trauma but I’m adding them back for A+ sibling dynamics. 10/10
katrinilves Dec 3, 2021 CHRISTMAS IN THE HIGHLANDS (2019)
I should’ve known the moment I saw the bold type asshole boyfriend that this would suck. 1 point for the haggis joke, 1 for the weird perfume plot, zero points for everything else. If you watch: MUTE 🔇to escape the terrible accents. 2/10
katrinilves Dec 4, 2021 LAST CHRISTMAS (2019)
Disqualified for not being a romcom (no HEA). it reminded me a bit of THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS (2015), except Henry Golding didn't come back to life, boo. Petition for an actual romcom starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding tho👀
katrinilves Dec 4, 2021 CHRISTMAS AT MAPLE CREEK (2020)
I do not vibe with the romanticisation of the American pioneers, and also not with the creative liberties taken with how the publishing industry works. However the romance was great. A bit saccharine but I appreciate a doe-eyed love interest. 7/10
katrinilves Dec 4, 2021 SINGLE ALL THE WAY (2021)
Disappointed we didn’t get any fake dating. I also LOATHE matchmaking and there was…a…lot… On the other hand I am DELIGHTED by these big city gays falling in love and moving to small town America to open a plant shop and write children’s books. 10/10
katrinilves Dec 5, 2021 THE HOLIDAY CALENDAR (2018)
Rewatch - better than I remembered it being. It’s sweet and lovely and put me in an instant good mood. 9/10
katrinilves Dec 5, 2021 CINDERELLA STORY: A CHRISTMAS WISH (2019)
Adorable. Hilariously over the top with the Cinderella stuff. There was a dog! Aimed more at kids than adults I think, which was a bit whatever. A fun romp though. 8/10
katrinilves Dec 10, 2021 MIDNIGHT AT THE MAGNOLIA (2020)
I love a good friends to lovers and this DELIVERED. The acting was a bit eh at times but everyone was very sincere and seemed like they had a great time making this film, and tbh this was just a delight from start to finish. 9/10
katrinilves Dec 11, 2021 LET IT SNOW (2019)
YA ensemble romcom. Fun! The characters were delightful and awkward and very teenage-y. Perfect balance of fluff and drama. Bonus points for the baby queer girls. 10/10
katrinilves Dec 13, 2021 LOVE HARD (2021)
I was prepared to hate every minute because the trailer was very unloveable, BUT ACTUALLY I really enjoyed it! Mildly disappointed this Tag guy didn’t say “you two assholes deserve each other” but ok sentiment implied. 10/10
katrinilves Dec 14, 2021 CHRISTMAS AROUND THE CORNER (2018)
I am not straight enough for these straight small town American films, sorry, I just CANNOT anymore. I wanted a queer love triangle between Claire and bakery girl and bookshop boy. Alas. Otherwise I guess this was fine? 5/10
and that's a wrap for 2021!
a Christmas romance movie has appeared on Netflix and OF COURSE I will watch it, but first:
once upon a time I used to make threads of Christmas romance movies on twitter with short summaries and ratings. I kept it up for 3? 4? years in a row until...well, looking at my cursed twitter account, until the pandemic hit. I didn't realise it'd been that long. SO! first course of action is to repost these old tweets here, for posterity, and then. I will add on. because I plan to watch at LEAST five silly Christmas romance movies this season. I am badly in need of silly content

About Happiest Season
Not gonna get into most of that drama, I just have a small tweak I feel would’ve made people a lot less hateful towards Harper:
Harper doesn’t invite Abby to her parents’ house.
Well then what happens all movie? you ask
Abby shows up anyway.
I will surprise my girlfriend! thinks Abby, adorable and oblivious and excited to propose, because she loves Christmas and I love her! It will be very romantic!
And then she gets there and finds out Harper isn’t out, queue shenanigans.
#a very minor tweak#that I feel could’ve made a very big difference#happiest season#Kristen Stewart#mackenzie davis#Dan levy#whose character wasn’t even mentioned in this post#but I fucking loved him so I’m tagging anyway
