working on time travel au a lot again after endwalker release and the writers block makes it honestly kind of funny since. all characters now have canon designs
like, if it didnt involve combing through 426,000 words i would at least adjust their designs to fit canon... as much as i can. theres some things i cant change without effectively having to rewrite the whole thing
and, again, 426,000 words.

Aegon II is the funniest ASOIAF character of all time. Born to be an incredibly unsuccessful twitch streamer who hangs around high school football games three years after he graduated and drives his grandmas Nissan Altima from 2003 with empty cans of Miller Lite jostling around in the back seat. Forced to be isekai’d into a high stakes pseudomedieval political drama where everyone’s playing 4D chess where he is responsible for a flying WMD. Unparalleled

DOECHII - "NISSAN ALTIMA"
youtube
Accelerating right to the top of our charts...
[8.44]
Ian Mathers: I hadn't forgotten "What It Is," but this one hits like Doechii wants me to. Two minutes (and it feels like it's that long because the job is done, not for some algorithm), high intensity, great delivery, and I think even a better chorus. Definitely the only earworm I've heard in a while prominently featuring the phrase "face fuck." [9]
Alfred Soto: With Rapsody and Noname releasing excellent work in the last two years, we're living in a fecund time for female-identifying singer-rappers. "Nissan Altima" proves she can do the slither-tongued swagger as well as anyone. "I'm the trap Grace Jones," she admits after a trip to Spain results in tsunami-ing someone's vagina. [9]
Mark Sinker: It’s like you can’t say "cunnilingus dalai lama” without me handing myself over to a Doechii YouTube deep-dive for hours on end, happy as a dim little lamb in some Cenobite Hellraiser dimension. Sometimes she’s even gentle and charming, like the director dropping out of character to explain the logic of a move. Not here though — and anyway those are never the best bits, though they are the most reassuring. The best is when her mind is flashing at frightening speed and the words and voicings and just grunts are breaking open into unexpected hidden corridors, running at angles behind the walls to energies you didn’t quite want to imagine, maybe.  [9]
Katherine St. Asaph: It took me several (exuberant) listens to figure out what this reminds me of: the sparkly instrumentals and kinetic charismatic presence of early Azealia Banks, except better because to my knowledge Doechii is not a rampaging drama-seeking TERF. [9]
Al Varela: You know, we've had such a rough streak of terrible fast raps from Eminem and Eminem wannabes lately that it's easy to forget how fun fast raps can be when it's done well. Doechii immediately jumps in with this roller-coaster flow in the first verse after the chorus that's so infectious that if the song was just that verse and two choruses I would have been satisfied. But the second verse is just as good! Doechii is such a firespitter and some of her pop concessions make me forget that sometimes. Glad to have a song where she truly proves herself and reminds us she can and will take over the rap game when the time is right. [9]
Jel Bugle: A short rap song, not too bad. I liked the brief acapella bits, and change of speed.  [6]
Will Adams: Initially the brief run-time felt unsatisfactory. But when you pack as many scorching lines (and line deliveries) as Doechii does in "Nissan Altima"'s 120 seconds, who cares? [7]
Taylor Alatorre: Even when listened to with intent, the refrain registers not as individual words but as a percussive barrage of obscenity, which is more or less how Doechii wants it. It can still be diagrammed if you're into that, but its purpose is to soften you up for the more stylish and surgically targeted body blows to follow. She's unsparing yet economical with her flows, always giving the impression that there's more to her than what she’s choosing to reveal at the moment. She uses the breaks in the instrumental to fool you into thinking a beat switch is coming -- it never does -- but when it starts up again the beat feels slightly fresher than it did a few seconds ago. "Give us nothing,” but unironically. [8]
Nortey Dowuona: All rise and put your sticks up for the motherfucking Princess and that short ass second verse. [10]

why does scifi never give a fuck about how big a deal interplanetary travel is. no one even really mentions it theyre just like "we need to go to another planet" and then they go end of story. dune is really the only thing ive ever read where the characters actually feel the weight and importance of how crazy it is to go to another planet when theyre going over the logistics of taking the atreides troops to arrakis (and maybe neuromancer with how in depth they go into the trip to the freeside satellite). "ahhh but itd be unremarkable for them theyre from the future" it will never be unremarkable to travel between fucking planets bro. its a spaceship. humans are still enamored with the magic feeling of being on a train. there should be weight involved. the minute i see someone just push a lever forward and then the ship takes off into the sky with no effort i check the fuck out. i wanna see han and chewy fucking with knobs and dials and shouting jargon at each other while theyre getting dive bombed by tie fighters. i wanna see the duke talking about the military logistics of taking an army through FTL travel. I wanna feel like its actually in any way difficult or requires any skill to pilot a ship, achieve escape velocity, and take something out of orbit. otherwise why would pilots be cool. theyre basically just driving a space nissan altima on the space highway. yawn

Chapter 2
Lara’s blue Altima chirped and the lights flickered at the press of her key. Artemiy caught her arm just above the crook of her elbow.
“Artemiy, let me go.”
“I’m still in love with you. Lara Alekseivna, I love you.”
“Why?” Lara snapped, as sharply as she shut the car door.
Artemiy stepped back. “What do you mean, why?”
“You were gone for five years. That’s a long time, Artemiy.”
“It’s nothing. To me, it was nothing. I knew I was coming — ”
“ I didn’t! ” Lara shouted. “I had to put myself back together. Why didn’t you? ” She wiped at her eyes with the inside of her wrist, careful not to smudge her mascara. Her voice was as frail as needle ice.

i drew a few things today, the first one (which is actually the last one but its my most 'finished' sketch of the day) is a redraw from 5 years ago kind of? i just drew yelena from aot again and what i got from it is that i didnt really improve that much fundamentally? esp looking at some of my other art from the past but i think that's okay because: i think that what i DID improve with is not caring about everything being Highly Detailed And Perfect and having breakdowns every other hour about not being able to draw or paint or whatever to the standard of master artists despite drawing for like 10 years and now whenever i draw i have the ability to just say 'alright it's not the best, but i see issues that i can learn from and i'll apply it next time' instead of working myself into a multi-year burn out. so i think this is a huge win, especially because the redraw itself only took 28 minutes whereas if i had tried to draw that same pose back in 2019 (which wouldn't have happened because i refused to be extremely ambitious back then out of fear but) it would have taken me more like 28 hours and i would have learned nothing
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway the next two are 'challenges' that i drew alongside watching others do similar challenges on a yt video where they all have cursed brushes or cant undo etc. and i only gave myself the amount of time as they had, which was about 15-20 minutes (in terms of the video length itself which i think was cut down from the amount of time they actually had) the first one was no undo / erasing and trying to limit how much i reshaped it by painting over it and the second one was with a mouse and without a sketch 😭 they're not the best ofc but i thought they were a fun experiment to mess with

Scatter-brained...
"Black bitch, purple cunt..." That line from "Nissan Altima" has been stuck in my head for weeks. Finally listened to Doechii's album in its entirety. I love it. I love her.
Jax's wigs in Reasonable Doubt get on my gotdamn nerves. Her character does too, but at the same time, I appreciate seeing her and all her flaws every episode. Now, the show as a whole... not my favorite (not even close), but my mom likes it and wants me to watch it with her and I love that lady, so... you know.
The founder(s) of Porto's deserves (*googles*) deserved to get their ass ate.
Morris Chestnut been fine my whole life. I need a father-son comedy starring him and Niles Fitch from This Is Us.
I've been working on reigning in my pride and not letting it get in the way of my relationships with people. Today, I experienced something that I know I would've handled differently had it happened to me a few months ago. I'm proud (hehe) of me.
Damn, this is really my last weekend being funemployed. I start my new job on Monday. The way I've been able to enjoy myself this summer... thank you, God. I know it wasn't nobody but You.
I have a decent amount of reading and catching up on shows to do before getting back to work.
I tried shroom edibles again for the fourth time today. I've increased the dose little by little each time, but yet again, I ain't feel shit. Let me just stick to the rivers and the THC gummies I'm used to.
The relief that washes over your body once you find and loosen that too-tight loc in the ponytail is up there with (but still not equal to) the relief of taking your bra off at the end of a long day.
Do I need to listen to Sabrina Carpenter's album? The way I've seen folks (Black women, in particular) going up for it lately is making me wonder...
I don't think a lot of people realize how insanely talented Chloe and Halle are. Although I've been a fan of their music, I'm realizing that I might unintentionally be a part of that number. I was looking into their songwriting and producing credits the other day and discovered a song from WILLOW's album called "Lonely Road" and I'm loving it. The parts and harmonies are insane. And that song "Want Me" from Chloe's album has been on repeat for the last 48 hours.

Jeffries was super disrespected! They made her sleep with a guy that had been in a lineup, but wasn’t the perp. And then she told a therapist and they fired her. Just terrible. Apparently the actress wanted out but they definitely could’ve tried harder than that. Honestly, the way they treat black women in this franchise outside of Melinda is very underwhelming. I wouldn’t say that they had any impactful, black woman detective/lawyer/victim or anything like now we have Bell but she’s basically a figurehead and it’s annoying how Stabler will fully go against what she asks him not to do or other people will use very obviously use her for their own causes. The actress is fine af (esp now that they got her out of that nissan altima auntie ass wig lol) and I love that Bell’s gay but even that’s been blandly explored meanwhile Jet and all the male detective are playing footsie every other episode it’s so ridiculous lol.
oh yeah i remember with jeffries now that was bs. honestly even warner doesn’t get treated all that well as a character. still so little depth after 25 years. the only character trait we have is mild sass. barely any background or anything.
LMAOO @ bells wig yes i’m glad they switch up her hair regularly. idk which black person suggested it or if they just let the actress do her own thing. that woman is insanely fine. like it don’t make no damn sense. like just top tier. but as a character … yeah idk if she’s doing it for me. i think the problem is that this is clearly intended to be the stabler show and they’re not doing a good job consistently giving other characters development. it’s so hit and miss. like every now and again they’ll get it right for a side character and then they just give up
jet is currently making a mess of her love life but most female character who has been on screen long enough has done the same. it’s the dick wolf agenda. i’m trying to decide if it’s misogyny or reality. probably a bit of both. i think it’s worse with jet though because she’s so young. young enough not to really know better. and also young enough for the dudes around her to try it more often

apple blossom :   how does your muse go about expressing or not expressing their sexuality ?
PHEW that's a COMPLICATED one, for a lot of reasons!
So, up until very recently, I identified as asexual, and grey-romantic. When I created Illyria, it was with the express idea that I wanted to explore a character who is a lot more sexual than me; who is completely allosexual and alloromantic, and confidant about that. Illy is loudly and proudly bisexual; but for her, sex is very casual. It's just another fun interesting thing one can do with friends, there's nothing special or sacred about it. She's blunt and forthright about sex and sexuality, in a way that some of her friends find kind of awkward.
Ryuu... ha. Ryuu was based on a self-insert I made up when I was like, 15/16 years old. I re-tooled her as mostly ace but sapphic, in the way of "not sexually attracted to people, but romantically attracted to women, and willing to have sex with women." That... all changed over the course of RP with my RP partner, when poor Ryuu (... and myself) got "... shit, I'm bisexual" plus "... shit, is this what sexual attraction feels like!? oh no" She's still not terribly comfortable about expressing her sexuality around anyone but her partners (currently Y'shtola and Kian, her co-WoL)
Seshat: Seshat is so damn new and based on my Guild Wars 2 toon. GW2!Seshat was completely aro-ace and Seshat will probably end up the same. Every time I think about "who would I ship her with" I'm like "That cat doesn't have a sexual thought in her fluffy orange cat head."
Hyperion: Ryuu's Ancient. Hyperion liked to put on a pretense of Yep I'm a Totally Normal Guy in Normal Ancient Society, while... secretly changing his sex/gender all the time to see if anyone even noticed. When everyone has to wear the same clothes and masks and hoods, turns out, nobody does. It was a little game he played. Luckily for him, his wife thinks that's hot as hell.
Dionysos: Illyria's Ancient. Dionysos is based not just on Dionysus, but also on Diogenes and the Cynics. Unlike Hyperion, Dio never once bothered to hide or pretend that they were Normal, and in fact in their youth they were briefly Altima before being exiled for writing seditious plays (when they're not Azem, anyway). They were extremely lucky to *only* be exiled and not just executed; Emet-Selch was instrumental on arguing for their exile and not execution (the man was young, recently appointed, and still really liked Dio's plays. Even the seditious ones. Maybe especially the seditious, salacious ones...). Dio was the kind of person to have public sex just to scandalize people and to make rhetorical points about problems with Ancient society.
