yo whos samson. Im curious
this guy 👇 my motw ttrpg oc
used to be a software developer and a normal guy with a wife and kid but then they got possessed/replaced with a monster so he killed them and ran off. Now he tries to avoid any mention or memory of the event of killing them and instead spends his time on reddit, 4chan, mmos, fixing up his computers, adding to his battlestation, sitting out in the louisiana sun, wishing he had a dog, working at a nearby gas station, having gay thoughts, etc etc.
more detailed info will eventually b on my toyhouse, but his artfight page is probably the most in depth rn

that holst post from earlier awakened the slumbering basic orchestra bitch in me and now i’m wild about classical music again all of a sudden for one (1) night only, i’m going through my old classical playlist and here are some unsolicited opinions?? recommendations?? top 10 piece rankings?? from yours truly, most of which i have played personally
10. rossini, barber of seville overture - SPEAKING OF BASIC let’s get this one out of the way, literally everyone in the universe knows this piece but it’s just so goddamn catchy and also fun to play?? sometimes it just gets stuck in my head at random times for no reason but i do not care it is welcome to live rent-free in my brain always
9. bizet, intermission from l’arlesienne suite no. 2 - ok this one is a slower piece and i never see anyone talk about it ever but imo?? highly underrated with a gorgeous, well-developed melody from beginning to end not to mention an INCREDIBLY satisfying build-up & payoff and ok maybe the ending is a little dragged out but that climax makes me cry real human tears pls give it a chance?? it kind of reminds me of a soliloquy in a musical where the main character like. breaks down and spills their entire heart out at the audience and it’s so dramatique™ and good
8. von suppé, poet and peasant overture - the violin part in this is SUPER fun but that’s not important compared to the fact that that cello solo is the reason i lowkey have a crush on every single cellist tbh,
7. dvořák, largo from the new world symphony - this is probably the most Basic Opinion on this list but idc i love this melody to death, even all the dumb corny choir boy editions of it, a+, top 10 songs to die to if i’m gonna b real
6. bruch, finale from violin concerto no. 1 - i just ADORE how the violin solo in this piece manages to balance being playful and light with being colorful and interesting, it def makes me wish i was good enough to be a soloist LMAO?? also this lush middle section (which kind of reminds me of the tchaik romeo & juliet a little bit??) makes me want to die, it’s so beautiful
5. dvořák AGAIN, slavonic dances op. 46 - everybody loves the brahms hungarian dances yes but my favorite “collection of folksy fun orchestra tunes” is DEFINITELY the slavonic dances, really all of them but ESPECIALLY no. 7 bc it starts off sounding like it should be accompanied with an animated montage of a dopey little cartoon knight or something plodding along, fantasia style, but then it swells into this GORGEOUS sweeping middle section for just a few bars then back to cute cartoon nonsense for the rest of the piece?? i don’t think i actually ever played no. 7 myself now that i think about it but i love it anyway. also no. 8 bc i love how FUCKING dramatic it is
4. rimsky-korsakov, capriccio espagnol - i got to play this for a summer camp once and again recently with my company orchestra, it’s so fun?? it’s so light and festive with great solos and great melodies and with all its short sections it’s both SO listenable but also v cohesive, i’m a huge fan
3. márquez, danzón no 2 - i think this is a pretty modern piece actually but i’ve also played this multiple times at this point and love it a lot, it has a lot of really great solo bits (like this sexy little trumpet solo) and it just makes me want to dance, i love watching dudamel conduct this bc he looks exactly the way i feel the entire time
2. shostakovich, allegro non troppo from symphony no. 5 - listen i know for sure this has some deep symbolic or ironic political meaning about something something living under an oppressive, propaganda-and-censorship-controlled state or whatever but it just. fucking rules. my favorite part is that eerie little part with the high violins near the middle which i’m SURE i fucked up when i played it back when i was a wee high schooler just kiddding it’s actually this OTHER part with the soaring violins but anyway. my favorite performance is the bernstein one bc it’s the only one i can find that’s as fast or aggressive as i remember it being
1. beethoven, egmont overture - i’ve always thought that if you threw a slow punchy drum loop over the beginning of this you’d get some epic trailer bgm tbh?? idk maybe a controversial opinion but this is my favorite beethoven symphonic work bc the entire piece is a BANGER that’s not only fun as hell but also incredibly listenable all the way through, and also the ending fucking slaps!! anyway not to be lowkey sacrilegious but here’s a space jam remix of the ending part which i love but my fellow orchestra members did not appreciate so now i am sharing it all with you all instead,
honorable mentions:
holst, jupiter from the planets - this honestly deserves to be on the list, i just didn’t want to talk about it AGAIN bc i already started ranting in the tags a little bit but really this is self-explanatory, the i vow to thee section is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i’ve ever had the pleasure of playing or listening to and that’s THAT
saint-saëns, bacchanale from samson and delilah - danse macabre is also fun and carnival of the animals is ok but bacchanale is the saint-saëns piece that makes me go absolutely feral. it may be a go-to “we need something to spice up this concert program to make it not sound just Totally old and bland and white” but man. what an absolute party of a piece to play
mussorgsky, the great gate of kiev from pictures at an exhibition - i really love grandiose, epic pieces like this but this one in particular holds a special place in my heart bc (i think) this was the finale for my last high school orchestra concert which, while not the most rigorous group, was definitely the one with the fondest memories for me 😭i’m not gonna link it but i found a youtube clip of that performance and man. i miss.....this part through the end brings goosebumps to my skin and a tear to my eye aaaAAAA IT’S SO GOOD
#/#//#///#////#/////#cam thoughts#this got. so long#but sometimes u feel like having a one night stand w an old interest again and you just. gotta braindump..

RWRB Study Guide: Chapter 10
Hi y’all! I’m going through Casey McQuiston’s Red, White & Royal Blue and defining/explaining references! Feel free to follow along, or block the tag #rwrbStudyGuide if you’re not interested!
Earl Grey (267): Earl Grey tea is an incredibly common caffeinated tea. It is the base of a London fog.
Hamilton to Laurens, “you should not have taken advantage of my sensibility to steal into my affections without my consent” (267): This quote is from an April 1779 letter and is immediately followed by “But, as you have done it, and as we are generally indulgent to those we love, I shall not scruple to pardon the fraud you have committed, on one condition; that for my sake, of not your own, you will always continue to merit the partiality, which you have so artfully instilled into me”. Essentially, “you were rude to me, but I love you so much I forgive you as long as you look after yourself”. Just before it, Hamilton’s like “you taught me what it means to love”. (You can find it here)
Pyramus and Thisbe (268): The pair of lovers whose story inspired Romeo and Juliet, they were separated and could only talk through a wall between their houses (I’ve written a very in-depth analysis of this myth, which you can find here).
Dulles International to Heathrow (268): Dulles International is the airport in Washington, DC, and Heathrow is the classy airport in London.
John Cusack (270): An American actor largely known for his roles in the 1980s. This line in particular likely references Say Anything..., a romantic comedy known in part for a scene where Cusack’s character stands outside a girl’s window and plays music from a boombox.
Y’all had to marry your cousins (270): A reference to the royal tradition of only marrying other royals, which led to a whole lot of inbreeding.
Consummation (275): To consummate a marriage is to have sex for the first time, therefore making it “official”.
Wilde’s complete works (276): Oscar Wilde is an Irish author famous for writing satires and also defining gay culture in the late 1800s.
Fit of pique (277): If someone does something in a fit of pique, they do it spontaneously and out of anger at being wronged.
Mr. Darcy brooding at Pemberley (278): In Austen’s Pride and Prejudice (spoilers, though it’s been out for 207 years), after Elizabeth rejects Darcy’s first marriage proposal (which is essentially “your family sucks but you’re hot; marry me”), he goes back to the house his family owns and thinks about it and misses her.
Anmer Hall (278): A house owned by the Crown in Norfolk, England; it is currently home to Prince William, Duke of Cambridge.
Mel and Sue (280): A comedy duo and hosts of The Great British Bake Off. Sue was outed in 2002, but claims that “being a lesbian is only about the 47th most interesting thing about me”.
South Kensington (284): A district of West London known for its high density of museums and cultural landmarks.
Prince Consort Road (284): Prince Consort Road is a street in London named after Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria. A consort is a royal’s spouse or partner (hence Alex laughing at the idea of his being a prince’s consort)
Ferris Bueller/ Sloane (284-285): Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is a popular movie from the 1980s about Ferris, who skips school for a day of wild shenanigans in Chicago. Sloane is his girlfriend who’s roped in for the ride.
Victoria and Albert Museum* (285): The Victoria and Albert Museum, often abbreviated “V&A”, is the world’s largest museum of applied and decorative art and design. (you can explore their collections here)
Renaissance City (285): Room 50a of the V&A is full of Renaissance sculptures. (photo here)
Seated Buddha in black stone (285): The V&A has a bunch of Buddha sculptures, but this one is the only one I saw that’s in black stone.
John the Baptist nude and in bronze (285): Possibly this piece from 1881 by French sculptor Auguste Rodin and is in the V&A’s collection.
Tipu’s Tiger (285): A nearly life-sized semi-automaton that shows a tiger mauling a man in European clothes. The tiger makes growling sounds and the man screams and waves his hand when a handle on the side is turned; it also contains a small pipe organ on the inside and was created to show the power that the Tipu Sultan of India held over invading Brits. The “give it back” that Catherine argues for is officially called repatriation, it would mean that (Western) museums have to give back stolen objects; British museums are famously bad at doing this. (see Tipu’s Tiger here)
Westminster (286): Westminster Abbey, a church in London where royals are crowned and buried. It is covered with intricate carvings and beautiful stained glass.
The Great Bed of Ware (286): A bed made by Hans Vredeman de Vries from the 1590s; it is ten feet wide and made of oak. (see it here)
Twelfth Night (286): A Shakespeare comedy full of chaos that includes a woman cross-dressing, then her twin brother being mistaken for her.
Epocoene (286): A 1609 play that includes a boy dressing as a woman to dupe a man into giving his son an acceptable inheritance.
Don Juan (286): A Spanish figure known for his powers for wooing women; the first text published about him was in the 1630s.
Florence (287): Florence is a city known for its art; it was the cultural center of the Italian renaissance.
Gothic choir screen in the V&A’s Renaissance City (287): This Roodloft, or choir screen, carved by Coenraed van Norenberch is in the back of the Renaissance City in the V&A. It’s a stunning piece; the link above has great pictures and a more in-depth description than I could give.
Zephyr statue by Francavilla (287): You can see this statue here; it was one of thirteen statues commissioned for the garden of a villa near Florence. According to Greek mythology, Zephyr (the west wind) was married to Chloris, goddess of flowers.
Narcissus (by Cioli) (287): This statue may have once been the centerpiece to a fountain with Narcissus looking into an actual pool; it depicts him in the moment he sees and is mesmerised by his reflection.
Pluto stealing Proserpina (287): Likely the statue “The Rape of Proserpina” by Vincenzo de' Rossi. I couldn’t find it on the V&A’s site, but there’s more info here.
Jason with the Golden Fleece (287): This is a sculpture of a very naked Jason, the Greek hero who stole the golden fleece. He was helped by its owner’s daughter, who was in love with him, but whom he later abandoned. You can see the statue here.
Samson Slaying a Philistine (287): You can see this statue here. Henry does a pretty good job of explaining the incredible history behind it; all I have to add from my (limited) research is that it is remarkable in part for the fact that there is no one point on it that draws the eye-- it demands to be looked at completely or not at all.
Victoria and sodomy laws (288): Queen Victoria famously instituted a whole lot of anti-sodomy laws.
Viau on James/George (288): A 1623 poem by Théophile de Viau:
“Apollo with his songs
Debauched young Hyacinthus
Just as Corydon fucked Amyntas,
So Caesar did not spurn boys.
One man fucks Monsieur le Grand de Bellegarde [a friend of Viau],
Another fucks the Comte de Tonnerre.
And it is well known that the King of England
Fucks the Duke of Buckingham.”
“Christ had John, and I have George” (288): This is an actual thing that James I/VI said to the heads of the church. Here’s the full quote, from wikipedia (emphasis is my own): “I, James, am neither a god nor an angel, but a man like any other. Therefore I act like a man and confess to loving those dear to me more than other men. You may be sure that I love the Earl of Buckingham more than anyone else, and more than you who are here, assembled. I wish to speak in my own behalf and not to have it thought to be a defect, for Jesus Christ did the same, and therefore I cannot be blamed. Christ had John, and I have George.”
George iii (289): George III was the king against whom the American colonies revolted. He was deeply religious and instituted laws declaring that royals could not marry without the approval of the court.
Convent church of Santa Chiara in Florence (290): This church is no longer a church, but the altar chapel is in an alcove in the V&A. It is the only Italian Renaissance chapel outside of Italy. (you can see photos of it here and here)
Santa Chiara and Saint Francis of Assisi (290): Saint Francis of Assisi founded a few different monastic orders and is one of the most celebrated saints; Saint Clare of Assisi founded a women’s monastic order and wrote the first set of monastic guidelines by a woman.
Blessed Mother (290): Mary, the mother of Jesus, one of the holiest figures in Catholicism.
“Come, hijo mío, de la miel, porque es Buena, and the honeycomb sweet to thy taste”** (290): “My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste. So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off” -- Proverbs 24:13-14, King James Version (yes, that King James. He translated the Bible to make the church stop hating him).
David and Jonathan (290): An aggressively gay couple from the Bible who have been presented as friends for centuries. Jonathan was a prince and David a shepherd, but God promised that David would be king one day. Rather than argue this or hate David for it, Jonathan welcomed David into his household and loved him despite the prophecy that he would one day usurp him. Following Jonathan’s death, David took in Jonathan’s son and looked after him.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, amen (291): Many Christian prayers end with “in the name of the Father, the son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen”. It’s a way of celebrating the god who gives you all of the good things in your life while also giving up control to them.
------
A fill in from chapter 1, as requested by someone on AO3:
Deputy Chief of Staff (Zahra’s position, 23): The Deputy Chief of Staff is the top aide to the president’s top aide, and is responsible for ensuring that everything runs smoothly within the bureaucracy of the White House.
------
*This museum puts out books called “maker’s guides” that teach you how to make pieces based on things in their collections; they’re super duper cool.
**I’m not a theologian, but I am a pastor’s kid, and just... this gets me. This whole bit, but this Proverb especially. Like obviously there’s the “oh we’re kissing and I’m thinking about honey tasting sweet”, but verse 14 coming in with the “when you’ve found what’s right, you will be rewarded with the confidence of that rightness and you will have hope”? Just kill me outright next time. Don’t make me google my own murder weapon.
------
If there’s anything I missed or that you’d like more on, please let me know! And if you’d like to/are able, please consider buying me a ko-fi? I know not everyone can, and that’s fine, but these things take a lot of time/work and I’d really appreciate it!

Fic Title Meme
tagged by threadsketchier
Look at the most recent 20 fanwork titles on your A03 account and answer the questions below.
Thanks for this meme, I already spend too much time thinking about titles!
Cut because I have a LOT of titles, and I’m gonna list them all:
36 Stories! Yikes! Arranged by series until we get to the one-shots, which are in no particular order.
"Two Smuggler Walk into a Bar"
"What Happens on Dathomir, Stays on Dathomir"
"Legacy"
"A Year of Winter"
"Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"
"The Family Business"
"The Queen from the Stars"
"The Death of the Mighty Jabba Deilijic Tirue (In Five Acts)"
"Something Blue"
"Frisson"
"Precipice"
"Tether"
"the history books forgot about us"
"here all the bombs fade away"
"these are the days of miracle and wonder"
"Proprietary Indulgences"
"Without Breath"
“Trigger Point"
"The Punch of Supreme Friendship"
"Common Hazards of the Penumbra Sector"
"Unexpected Gifts"
"Monster Stories"
"Luminous Creatures"
"Traces of Light" ("Tripwire," "The Heir," "Campfire Tales," "Interlude")
"Visit Scenic Dathomir!"
"Pour Away the Ocean"
"Sensate"
"Unexpected"
"Five Leaps of Faith"
"Glory Box"
"Favors"
"Simulacrum"
"Afterimage"
"The Moisture Farmer's Wife"
"The Wizard of the Dune Sea"
"S.W.A.K."
1. How many are you happy with?
I like my titles! I'm perfectly happy with almost all of them. There are a few titles I wasn't sure about at the time, but they've grown on me. Even the ones I don't think are very interesting aren't terrible.
2. How many are…not great?
I don't think any of these titles are bad, but sure, maybe not great and I still question my decisions in choosing them:
"Legacy" works for the story, but it's pretty generic and unfortunately happens to be the title of a Star Wars book too, which is confusing!
I was never wild about "Sensate," because I associate the word first with the show "Sense8." But it's fine; I don't hate it.
I may be slightly self-conscious about naming a story after a U2 song. How unhip of me.
I probably shouldn't have published a story called "Unexpected" and "Unexpected Gifts" in short succession; the stories are sort of thematically related by not set in the same AU.
"The Moisture Farmer's Wife" is a play on the title of the book "The Time Traveler's Wife." Books that use the naming device "The __'s Wife," or "The __'s Daughter" are kind of a pet peeve of mine. It sounds romantic, but it's always giving a woman significance via her relationship with a man. Buuuut I still couldn't resist using the gimmick because of how it referenced "The Time Traveler's Wife" and how it refers to both the women in the story. (sort of). I have mixed feelings about it, I guess I'll say.
3. How many did you scramble for at the last minute?
I get very frustrated if I can't find a title I like for a story I'm writing! The closer I am to the finish line without a title, the more frustrated I get.
"Luminous Creatures" and "Proprietary Indulgences" took a long time to title. I whined to JediMordSith and myevilmouse for ages until I finally figured out "Proprietary Indulgences" with their help and patience. I whined to everyone about "Luminous Creatures." I'm currently in the middle of a very long WIP that doesn't have a title and it's driving me crazy. Can't start posting without a title!
4. How many did you know before you started writing/creating, or near the beginning?
I'm so much happier when the title comes early! Sometimes it comes as I'm developing the story; though in retrospect I don't think I can tell you exactly how many came in the very early stages. Maybe about half?
In one case, I wanted to write a story using the title "these are the days of miracle and wonder" even before I came up with the story. The song then shaped a couple of elements in the story.
5. How many are quotes from songs or poems?
"Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" (song by U2)
"the history books forgot about us" (from "Samson" by Regina Spektor)
"here all the bombs fade away" (from "Sons and Daughters" by the Decemberists)
"these are the days of miracle and wonder" (from "Boy in the Bubble" by Paul Simon)
"Glory Box" (song by Portished)
I could have named "Punch" after the Florence and the Machine song "Kiss with a Fist" but "The Punch of Supreme Friendship" is much more fun (title courtesy frangi).
"Pour Away the Ocean" is from an Auden poem. I don't like the poem as a whole (too sentimental for my taste) but I like the line and how it relates to the story. I found it by googling "elegy songs/poems for sailors" or something like that.
I should use more lines from poems.
6. How many are other quotes?
"Luminous Creatures" is a play on Yoda's line, obviously, though not a direct quote.
7. Which best reflects the plot of the story/content of the fanwork?
They all do their job?
8. Which best reflects the theme of the story?
"Wizard of the Dune Sea" is meant to obfuscate Luke's identity--the first thing you think of on hearing the title is Obi-Wan--in a way that's similar to the way the story (attempts) to subvert identities and expectations (though I don't think I completely pulled that off).
9. Which best reflects the character voice of the story/POV of the fanwork?
"S.W.A.K" is a super cheesy reference that I kind of hate ("sealed with a kiss"), but I think it perfectly captures the cheesiness of the main character.
"Proprietary Indulgences" kind of fits the snootiness of the main characters, too.
10. Which is your favorite title?
How can I choose!

10 favourite characters!
I wasn’t tagged (because I never get tagged in anything sob sob) but stumbled upon this on @sassysportacus blog and wanted to try it myself, so yah!
RULES: List 10 of your favorite characters from 10 different fandoms (in no particular order) and then tag 10 others!
1.
CHARACTER: Mæja Jarðaber FANDOM: Ávaxtakarfan
Because who can’t relate to this character? Sad and lonely. Bullied beyond belief to the point that she herself believes in the statements about her, and yet still full of hope and happiness for the actual moment when Gedda comes to save her from being the lowest hanging fruit (lol). I was close to put Gedda on here, but truth be told, I’m SO IN LOVE with Mæja from the original -98 play so much that I had to put her in this list instead. I mean, look at her, she’s so small! Too cute!!!
2.
CHARACTER: Spock FANDOM: Star Trek
Spock is the only reason why I wanted to watch Star Trek from the beginning, sooooo that’s something! I absolutely adore this character. Smart as a super computer, calm and collected, stone faced, so much in love with Kirk, mysterious yet so open, loyal as all hell, he’s perfect. Had a hard time to decide if I wanted Nimoy’s or Quinto’s Spock as a representative gif, but in the end I chose Quinto - Because god damn he filled those Spock-shoes perfectly and I love him and will protect him to the end of the galaxy.
3.
CHARACTER: Todd FANDOM: Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
It’s Elijah Wood being depressed, sad and hurt over and over again while his detective boyfriend saves him and drags him into more mess. What more can I say? (Also, side note, watch this show. It deserves more fans!!) To be honest, I want to put Dirk (and FREAKING BART!!) on this list too, but if I have to chose just one of them I have to go with Todd... No, it’s not ONLY because he’s played by Elijah Wood, what makes you think that ?? ........ Don’t look at me like that!!
4.
CHARACTER: Robbie Rotten FANDOM: LazyTown
AKA our own favourite meme edge lord. If it wasn’t for this character, I wouldn’t have started to watch LazyTown. I have SO MUCH to thank this character for, it’s kinda insane. Seeing beyond that, though, he’s a real mean villain with a heart of gold deep inside. Even the kids aren’t that mad at him, like ever, at least not for long. The design is absolutely beautiful, he looks like Waluigi but with style, and Stefán Karl’s acting is really nailing this character. A beautiful villain, never too mean, never too black and white. Adore, adore, adore!
5.
CHARACTER: Benedikt Búálfur FANDOM: Benedikt Búálfur
Okay so I’m still new to this incredibly small but lovely fandom and madly in-honeymoon-phase-love with this show so I’ll try to keep myself short (or else I’ll be here all night). This character is perfect. I always love these kind of characters; a bit wild and crazy, lot’s of emotions, lot’s of movement and body acting. Björgvin acts A LOT with his hands too, which is another reason why I am so in love with this character, I can watch him forever (am I talking about Benedikt or Björgvin now? Nobody knows!). I could’ve just as well put any character from this show here to be honest, but the main character was the reason I wanted to see this show from the beginning and he hasn’t disappointed me in the slightest anywhere.
6.
CHARACTER: Bentley FANDOM: Sly Cooper
What can I say, I adore nerdy characters just as much as I love ADHD-stimming “can’t sit still” characters (COUGH Benedikt COUCH). Bentley has always been my favourite, both in wheelchair and without.
7.
CHARACTER: Sans FANDOM: Horrortale
I promise, I’m not a Sans fangirl. I really don’t care for him much in the original Undertale, I just think he’s a rad and cool character but I think that about everybody. In Horrortale, though, he’s SO INTERESTING!! I mean, they all are. They’re so unpredictable, but he’s really something extra. Not 100% psycho, but definitely not right in the head either. So unpredictable, yet the one character so far that we can trust the most (in a sick, twisted way). So much depth, so much character. Ugh, so interesting!!
8.
CHARACTER: Vladimir FANDOM: NachtWacht
Aaaaah look at my vampire boy!! Best boy! I am so in love with this character. Strong, wise, old, handsome, clever and yet not OP. A perfect vampire (the good kind, on our side, thank god). Out of all of the NachtWacht-character, I also feel he has the most history and mystery to him along with Vega. He is over 100 years old, after all, and from what I know we don’t really know anything about his old life. Not much as least. There are many scenes in which he seems sad and down, in a deep way, and he and Vega has a connection none of the other characters have, like a father son bond (even though he has a real father, played by Louis, the actors, actual father.... UUUHHH I wanna see the movie soo baaaadlyyy!!). My favourite scene is by far when his powers goes away, and for a while he’s a human again, with a heartbeat and a reflection in the mirror. His expression is unbelievable! :( and this is a freaking kids show!??
9.
CHARACTER: The Second Doctor FANDOM: Doctor Who
I haven’t watched Doctor Who in forever, but my favourite doctor will always be the second one. The dapper little guy with his big coat and his boyfriend Jamie McCrimmon flying through space and saving earth from Cybermen while he’s playing a recorder. Splendid! I could’ve put Jamie here too since I love them both to death, but in contrast to Jamie, the Doctor is actually a beautiful character no matter who he’s interacting with, while Jamie is pretty bland as a character when the Doctor’s not around. I mean, who is he suppose to cling to when the Doctor is gone? Huh?? Also, Patrick is a b s o l u t e l y beautiful. So that’s that!
10.
CHARACTER: Octaaf de Bolle FANDOM: Samson & Gert
Yes this character is stupid. Yes, he brags a lot. Yes, he fucks up a lot. But oh I just love him! He tries his best, okay :( He just wants to do good and be loved, god damnit! He tries SO HARD!! .. I relate to this character so much lol, constantly fucks up and then feels ashamed because of it. Ouch.
I actually had a hard time coming up with ten fandoms in the end. I couldn’t decide between three fandoms as n. 10 because I enjoy them all in different ways, but in the end, Octaaf won me over as the fantastic character he is so Samson & Gert took the 10′th spot, lol.
I wont tag anyone because I don’t know that many people and I have no idea who has done this yet and not D: So just do it if you want to!! It was fun ~

Abigail Henderson was enduring a blind date turned cautionary Tinder tale. Solona Amell was just doing her job bounty hunting for a local bail bonds office. When Abby's date and Solona's target turn out to be one and the same, neither of them expects how quickly their lives will turn upside down.
When an altercation with local law enforcement is caught on video and begins to circulate the Internet, they both find themselves thrown headfirst into the lingering mage-templar conflict still gripping the Free Marches twenty years after the violent destruction of the Kirkwall Chantry. Their personal lives aren't left unscathed either, as both women find themselves grappling with strange new acquaintances and relatively unwanted attractions to two former Templars now working as detectives with the Kirkwall City Police Department.
Tensions rise as past transgressions begin to surface, but everyone has secrets to hide.

Bitter asks
Tagged by @fuckbioware with their very appropriate url. I’ll just do for DA
What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
Cullen/any mage but I guess unapologetic bigotry is an attractive trait in a man? Also Cullen/Samson
Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?
Not particularly
Have you ever unfollowed someone over a fandom opinion?
Less to do with their opinion and more to do with straight up bigotry
Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?
Cullen/any mage especially Amell, Surana, Bethany or Dorian. All of them deserve better than a man who sees them as “one of the good ones”
Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?
Dorian/Lavellan, Iron Bull/Lavellan
Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?
Hated? No. Just ones I didn’t feel any particular way towards like I did with Merril/Isabela
Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?
Bioware’s grey morality. Used to think it was insightful and wise lmao
Have you received anon hate? What about?
Nope! But if they ever make an anti-cullen blocklist and my name isn’t on there, I’m gonna raise hell
Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Take a wild guess. Also Michel de Chevin, Celene and all but like 5 Templars (two of whom are book only characters). Maybe 6. Don’t know much about Rylen. I hear Templar, I stop listening
Most disliked arc? Why?
Cullen’s arc in Inquisition. Mostly because it belonged to Samson
Is there an unpopular character you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
Vivienne. The more I think about it, the less it makes sense for her to be so rabidly disliked. Even most of the reasons pro Vivienne players give for why she must be hated don’t up under scrutiny. Will probably write more on that later
Is there an unpopular arc that you like that the fandom doesn’t? Why?
Not really. Very few things earn my hate. It’s usually just disinterest
Unpopular opinion about XXX character?
-Cullen hasn’t changed one bit and if Leliana and Josephine were not there, he’d make the Inquisition look like a remake of the Gallows
-Vivienne is very much pro-mage
Unpopular opinion about your fandom?
We’d be here all week
Unpopular opinion about the manga/show/game?
Oppression isn’t an area of grey, colorism should not be a thing in a world where racism regarding skin color does not exist, hire a black person so my 20 year old Inquisitor doesn’t have to suffer through early onset baldness, stop using bisexual characters as your LGBT rep catch-all and in a world without homophobia, there should be more LGBT npcs running around (Dennet could have had a husband, for example)
If you could change anything in the show, what would you change?
Once again, we’d be here all week
Does not shipping something ‘popular’ mean you’re in denial and/or biased?
no
What is the purest ship in the fandom?
Josephine, Merrill and anyone lucky enough to have them
What are your thoughts on crack ships?
Can run either way
Popular character you hate?
I feel like if I type his name too many times, it’ll start showing up in his tag and his stans will come after me
Unpopular character you love?
Vivienne, Blackwall
Would you recommend XXX to a friend? Why or why not?
I’d recommend they give it a try but its not for everyone
Most shippable character?
I’d have to say Blackwall. I can see him paired off with pretty much anyone
Least shippable character?
Stop making me type his name
Anyone who wants to do it, do so. Tag me if you wish

Could've added shading to this but considering it was only supposed to be a quick doodle of a beat up Sam I feel it's already gone too far.

He's taking it well.

Introduction Meme!
I was tagged by the wonderful @vulpixelates! Thanks, lovely!
Rules: There never was none, there never is none, go wild.
Name: Sam
Nicknames: I only ever had the one nickname, Sampson. It was given to me by an old friend of mine during a road trip, and she was VERY specific that there was a “p” in it because everyone else kept saying “Samson”. Now I use Sampson9091 as my twitter, instagram and even my other tumblr blog names.
Pronounce: He/His/Him
How did you get your username/Url? I had just become a super big Dragon Age fan, and I didn’t want to spam my primary blog with just Dragon Age stuff since I had previously only been sharing and posting filmmaking stuff. So I made a second blog and I called it Sassylevellen because I was developing my Inquisitor as a character and in my story Varric calls her “Sassy”. Also I accidentally mispelled Lavellan as Lavellen. I just haven’t changed it.
Favorite Fandom: Dragon Age
Your Hobbies: Playing Dragon Age, writing, editing videos for friends,
Got a main muse or more? Show them to us: I have many main muses, but right now the one I’m focusing on is my sweet Moira
Give us 5 unfiltered facts about yourself to make your followers feel a little included:
I have a crooked jaw and two different shaped earlobes.
I broke my arm when I was nine
I have a cat named Lily and a dog named Molly. They were not intentionally named after the mothers of Harry Potter and Ron Weasly but it’s still funny. I wanted to name Lily “Merrill” but no one in my family liked that name.
I once recorded a vocal for a commercial for my community college (before my city college) and they told me they were going to use it. Then when the commercial came out they didn’t use my take.
One time when I was still going to school out in Chicago, I accidentally crashed a red carpet. They were having a press screening of the movie The Book Thief. I was at this theater waiting for someone, and it was a BIG theater and I got lost and stumbled on it accidentally. But hey, I got to meet Geoffrey Rush so that was fun.
Last question; Is there any Advice you have for your followers, new & Old? Don’t let anyone tell you how you should play Dragon Age/Mass Effect or just games in general. Games are there to be fun and you can and should play them however the hell you want. You like a choice that most people don’t pick? Good for you! That’s the point! I certainly have been judged for a lot of my picks but it doesn’t matter. I just have fun and you should too!

THORA’S RP PLOTTING CHEAT SHEET.
Want new-and-exciting plots for your character? Long to reach out to more of your followers, but don’t know where to start? Fear not! Fill out this form and give your RP partners both present and future all the of juicy jumping off points they need to help you get your characters acquainted.
Be sure to tag the players whose characters YOU want more cues to interact with, andrepost, don’t reblog! Feel free to add or remove sections as you see fit. Template here.
Mun Name: Tas OOC Contact: Tumblr IMs or Discord (mutuals only)
Who the heck is my muse anyway:
Thora is a Carta criminal turned holy figure. She spent most of her youth smuggling and selling lyrium to all sorts: Templars needing a bigger fix, Dalish elves unable to contact Orzammar themselves, apostates looking for supplies, anyone who had a need. Now, she’s working to put that past behind her any way she can. As the Herald and (later) Inquisitor she strives to do right by the world, and acts with mercy whenever possible.
Points of interest:
Thora believes in the Maker and the Stone, blending the two not-wholly incompatible faiths. As a Surface dwarf, however, she has not been able to practise them as she would like.
She does not believe she is Herald, but in her companion verse will believe the Inquisitor was chosen (though if the Inquisitor is non-Andrastrian it is something she keeps to herself).
Her specialisation is Beserker, a style that involves letting her rage out on the battlefield, something that surprises people when they were first exposed to her out of a fight.
She’s liberal in her beliefs, and supports Leliana as Divine, but has a fair amount of sympathy for Templars given her experiences with those suffering from lyrium withdrawal.
She lived in Kirkwall for a few years between Act 2 and the end of Act 3, leaving the city when she got a feeling that something bad was going to go down. I headcanon that she knew Samson when he lived on the street and knew of Varric (because who hasn’t in Kirkwall).
She also worked in Amaranthine during the events of Awakening, having lived through the attack by the Darkspawn.
What they’ve been up to recently:
Thora has become the head of the Inquisition, an up and coming Thedas organisation, almost entirely by accident. She is currently travelling Ferelden and Orlais, closing Breaches and righting wrongs. She leads the Inquisition in such a way to inspire hope and mercy in the hearts of the people of Thedas. or she tries, anyway. After the defeat of Corypheus, she travels north to close Breaches that opened in the Free Marches.
(post-Trespasser) The Inquisition is disbanded, and Thora dedicates her resources to discovering what she can about the world before the Veil and what she can do to convince her friend that both of their peoples can survive in the same world. Beyond the members of the Inquisition that chose to remain by her side, she also utilises her former Carta connections to create a network difficult for Solas to track.
Where to find them:
Haven or Skyhold, but anywhere throughout Orlais or Ferelden are fair game. As I said, the events of the game she can be found in the Free Marches (especially Ostwick, where her family lives) and then, later, Tevinter. Skyhold lies abandoned after the events of Trespasser, but not forgotten.
Current plans:
Thora wants to stop Corypheus, but has ambitions beyond him, as well. She had no intention of influencing the choosing of the next Divine, but once it’s made clear her will may influence the decision, she sets about making sure Leliana has the best shot possible.
(post-Trespasser) Thora has committed herself to saving Solas, and the world, from himself. In Tevinter, she would also openly support Dorian and Maevaris’s Lucerni.
Desired interactions:
Threads based upon in-game quests, be their war table missions or main quests.
In particular, In Hushed Whispers has a permanent effect upon Thora, who as a non-dreamer (until recently) is unable to disassociate what she sees with being “unmade” making it for a generally different experience than in-game.
Her preparing for Wicked Eyes & Wicked Hearts. Thora has experiences that make her well-suited to the wordplay of the game, but next to know experience with noble etiquette or dancing. She would need lessons before the ball.
Stuff pre and post-DA:I. Having a passing familiarity with some of DA2′s cast, or navigating closing Breaches and solving problems in the Free Marches.
At one point Thora explores the Cadash Thaig, and anyone that wants to come with will have a wild time full of self-discovery with Thora and my Solas.
Interactions with more of the higher-ups in the world, the Queen of Ferelden, any of the powers in the Free Marches, etc. Even post-Trespasser when she’s no longer Inquisitor her name still bears weight.
Anything tbh I love threads w/ my girl.
Offered interactions:
Companion OCs who have recruitment quests that they want to rp, come @ me.
Basically any thread that might require an Inquisitor.
Slice of life, missions, discussions about religion...
I’m pretty open to anything!
Anything else?:
She loves nugs a lot and will disapprove if you don’t.

20 Questions
@buttsonthebeach tagged me in the getting to know you meme, but since I did that one recently I took the liberty of breaking the rules and finding another tag meme to answer instead. >:Dc
1. One thing you would change in your personality?
The constant undercurrent of social anxiety that renders me completely unable to speak coherently at the worst possible moments. I would love to have steady employment, social anxiety. Please stop cockblocking my job status. :^)
2. What is your DA rare pair?
MARIAN HAWKE AND RALEIGH SAMSON
GO RAID MY AO3, MY KIRKWALL TRASH HEAPS ARE WAITING
Sweetest Downfall
Arms Around the Past
3. A song that made you cry?
Passage by Vienna Teng. I've never had a song get me completely unglued on the last six words before this.
4. The best movie ever?
Love, Actually.
Fight me.
5. Food you will never eat?
C I L A N T R O >:(
6. Your celebrity crush?
Felicia Day. Mark of the Assassin DESTROYED me. 😅
7. Your favorite DA location and why?
Vigil's Keep. Because like. You're the head dumpster fire, in charge of recruiting more dumpster fires, and also you're apparently running an Arling that you never asked for and you have to deal with all these shitty nobles all the time but YOUR DUMPSTER FIRES are all right there beside you and you have the best papa dumpster fire ever who kicks nobles out of your dumpster fire house when you're tired of partying and basically it's this tiny fucked up little family and you all stumble down to breakfast in the morning in various states of hung over except for that one dwarf guy who's probably still drunk, you eat your eggs and toast in cranky silence, and then you go be big goddamn heroes.
....I really loved Awakening ok. Fite me.
8. You’re a night or a morning person?
I'm like a "night but the part of night where it's technically morning right up til morning" kind of person.
9. You have any tattoos?
Yus.
Nobody sigil from Kingdom Hearts wrapped in a treble clef between my shoulder blades.
A design of Helios on my left upper arm with "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken" underneath it because House Martell prideeee.
The Arabic word for "cat" on my left forearm, drawn to look like a cat.
I'm saving up for a griffon tattoo and maybe a stylized one of "can I get you a ladder so you can get off my back?" :3
10. How many languages you speak?
Fluent in English. Can understand Korean fairly well, but can't speak it quite as easily. Basic fluency in Italian. I can read it much better that I can speak it.
11. Where would you most like to visit?
The mountains in South Korea. I was born there and I've only ever been back to Seoul and a village on the outskirts where my grandparents lived. I want to spend like a week or so out there under the stars. ❤️
12. What’s the best book you’ve read?
The Poisonwood Bible.
So I was forced to read this in high school. And I went to a Baptist high school, so of course when I saw this summary of it I immediately went "oh fuck no."
"The Poisonwood Bible, by Barbara Kingsolver, is a bestselling novel about a missionary family, the Prices, who in 1959 move from the U.S. state of Georgia to the village of Kilanga in the Belgian Congo, close to the Kwilu River."
Like. I was FULLY prepared to grit my teeth and spark notes another goddamn glorified colonialism story.
And then I read the damn thing.
And y'all this book is FUCKED UP. That missionary family? It's told from the POV of all of the daughters as they watch their father get more and more fanatical and abusive, as they struggle with culture shock, NONE of them wanted to be here, the majority of them slowly start to lose their faith and abandon their religion.
One of the girls is very clearly neurodivergent, but she's not really written as a character you're supposed to feel sorry for, and she's a total badass.
It has its problematic elements, but I think the fact that it's now seared indelibly into my brain is because I was 100% expecting a fucked up pro missionary story and ended up finding a story of the shit that happens to everyone else in the periphery of said pro missionary stories.
Was incredibly surprised to have read this in my AP Lit class at a Baptist high school, but goddamn, it shook me.
13. Who is your favourite BioWare character?
A N D E R S
Anders is my boy. I will ride or die for Anders. Anders was right. Fuck the Chantry. F I T E M E.
Bonus: fine Dwarven crafts, direct from Orzammar
14. Who’s your least preferred BioWare character?
Going to stick to Dragon Age because I'm too tired to rummage through my brain for other fandoms. And there's so many people I hate in Mass Effect. Hah.
Anyway. Livius Erimond kind of grinded my gears a lot, so much so that in my first mage playthrough I pissed off a ton of people and made him Tranquil. Like. My entire inner circle disapproved, it was fucking amazing. I'll never be able to make myself do it again because I felt so dirty after that I literally had to pause the game and take a shower, but man. Erimond is really good at pressing buttons.
15. What’s your favourite game?
Dragon Age Inquisition and Mass Effect 3. And Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark. Valen Shadowbreath was my first bioware love.
16. What’s your spirit animal patronus?
According to Pottermore it's a dragonfly but I'm pretty sure it's actually a cat.
Going with patronus instead of spirit animal because I've been asked to avoid appropriating that term as someone who is not of Native ancestry, and so I shall. Respect indigenous cultures. ✌️❤️
17. Cake or ice cream?
Fine Dwarven cakes, direct from Orzammar. Preferably almond or Chantilly. :D
18. Dogs or cats?
🐈 Kitties 🐈
19. What was your favourite DA romance?
3 Way Tie (although this could change since I haven't done all of them myself.)
Anders - because his whole arc is just so FUCK THE CHANTRY and he's such a Good Person who is Struggling and at the end of the day he's a soft feathery boy who loves you and cares about making people not hurt anymore and also is into some wild shit in bed and also loves cats. Let's be mentally ill cuddly softs together, Anders, I will give you my everything always, my soft feathery mage boy. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Leliana - soft but stabby song princess becomes the pope and her devoted girlfriend wife swoons quietly through all of it.
Cullen - weirdly enough, I did not expect to enjoy this romance as much as I did. I kind of hated him in the first two games, like when I ran into him in 2 I still hadn't forgiven him for the "KILL ALL THE MAGES" outburst and was just like. "Ugh it's this motherfucker." And then I saw him again in Inquisition and was like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHITHEAD DOING HERE? HE'S FIRED. FIRE HIM, CASSANDRA.
But then Cassandra never reciprocated my affections, Blackwall yelled at me on the battlements about propriety and we're at war so I dumped him, and then Vivienne turned me down and I was like FINE FUCK ALL Y'ALL I'M GONNA SMOOCH CULLEN OUT OF SPITE.
And then he's all like. "I went through some shit. I said some really fucked up stuff. Also I'm trying to get clean and it's literally killing me but I don't want anything to do with that old life anymore." And the chess scene, and then me getting really personally enraged at all the Orlesians copping nonconsensual feels at Halamshiral and then I woke up one day and was like wow OK this dude's alright, he's even kind of cute, I guess I can-
"marry me?" "OKAY YES."
*shrug* I'm weak.
20. Do you prefer sunshine or are you a winter person?
Sunshine in winter, ideally, but if I have to choose between one or the other, winter.
Anyway. I broke rules, oops. Gonna tag @sasshole-for-rent @suzumicchi @joufancyhuh @laraslandlockedblues @becauseanders @inner-muse @ladymdc @agentkatie @kawakaeguri @a-shakespearean-in-paris @ekoorb03 @lyrium-lovesong @5ftgarden

WIP LOVE
tagged by my fabulous wonderful @gooseandcaboose whom i adore <33
Rules: Post one thing that you love about your story/WIP (a character, a theme, a line, or just a reason why you’re excited), then tag people.
Hi tonight is apparently post a lot of things night SORRY
but please let me talk about albatross and i will try to correct all my misspellings cuz i have had drinks but am also a Professional. whatever that means.
THIS FIC YOU GUYS this fic is really what got me writing after....oh geez, like six, seven years? I’d basically stopped writing in college after a couple NaNos and deciding that i was going to pursue editing as a career path (hah) rather than writing, like most of my friends. if i was going to be editing, there was no reason to write. i mean, i wrote in creative writing classes because i had to, but i was very much not that into it, and mostly used those classes to work on my editing and as field research on the wild author’s thought process (yes, that’s honestly what i thought of it as).
so fast forward a bunch of years to early-mid 2016 and i’m playing through dragon age games because i’d done the mass effect trilogy three times (and here is where i admit that i have an unfinished, published to ao3 mass effect story that i was working on but dropped because dragon age). played origins and that was fun though difficult because i have no real grasp of actual game mechanics and am Shit at Tactics (like wow, y’all, honestly) so i was excited to get on to da2 even though my sib-in-law, whose opinion i value on games n such, wasn’t fond of staying in the one city all the time.
but what the hell, i thought, i’ll give it a shot, gotta do something while i wait for inquisition to go on sale. (this is devolving into a dragon age thing and i apologize but it will get back to the writing, i promise.) and damn if da2 wasn’t incredibly interesting and fun! made my me-as-a-person choices with my first hawke and since inquisition still wasn’t on sale went back to play it again, this time with specific goals in mind that i didn’t do before: Fenris. Red Hawke. Templars. and damn if that wasn’t a very satisfying playthrough too! so i did it again, with my very blue child because i like to get a good spread of the choice options.
so here’s the thing: i’d quit my job of four years at this point, early 2016, because i had felt assured of another job (only to have that fall through catastrophically because of a buyout and it’s a really sad story and that’s depressing me so let’s move on). so i was staying at home being the house-spouse while husband brought in money and i relied on my savings to get me through to another job. i ended up taking one at jo-ann, the craft store, in july. and it’s there, in the aisles of jo-ann like a few weeks later as i’m unboxing fucking pumpkins in july, that i came up with the initial concept of a bouncer red!hawke and what would eventually become the first few chapters.
and it would just not leave me alone. so i went home and started writing. fun fact: samson hitting on fenris in chapter 1 was originally going to be orsino. it works out much better with samson, tbh, so i’m glad i changed it.
and i just...kept writing. and kept writing. i had at least 12 chapters by the time i decided to start posting it a month later in august 2016. i would write a lot of the time while i was home, since my job was very part time then. and initially it was just something fun for me to do to work this idea out of my brain. i had no idea at the time that it would turn into something this BIG.
but it has! and i am grateful every day, even the days/months i spent looking at it in my google drive and wondering if i would ever touch it again, because it has led me to some absolutely wonderful people who i would not have in my life were it not for that fic, so shoutout to albatross, my giant overgrown child, for finding me friends that i 1000% adore.
uh, so i guess technically that’s one thing i love about my wip, lol
sadlfkja not gonna tag anyone after this giant ramble of a post, so if you wanna ramble about your wips PLEASE DO because i love hearing about y’all’s stuff cross my heart truly i do
#albatross fic#tag meme#it is hard to imagine i wouldn't know some of y'all if it weren't for fic writing#so big thanks to dragon age for getting me writing#and big thanks and a swift kick in the ass for my desire for validation that cannot be quenched cuz that's why i posted it lol

I. PLOT
It’s been 100 years since the last class left Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. The once thriving institute for people born with a unique genetic mutation giving them extraordinary powers, otherwise known as mutants, had to close it’s doors for good because of a shortage of mutant students following the events of House of M. Soon, the world all but forgot that mutants ever existed, and stories told by the older generations were often viewed as nothing more than tall tales. But there’s a little truth to every tale, isn’t there? Over the past couple years, a new crop of mutants have discovered their powers and after being cryogenically frozen for 100 years, Scott Sommers gathered some of them together to reopen Xavier’s for a new class of students. This is the new generation of mutants. Welcome to Xavier’s, G E N E R A T I O N X .
II. BASICS
Generation X is a group verse set in the Marvel’s X-MEN universe. Since all characters attend Xavier’s, they should all be mutants but if you have a storyline that makes sense and you really want a non-mutant, human character, we can discuss. When choosing your character’s super power, you should keep their canon in mind and choose a power that fits their personality. Get creative so we don’t have duplicate powers in the verse. No all powerful characters will be accepted. On a scale of 1-5, no character should be above a 3 controlling their power, and they should all still be learning how to control them. Older characters could have a better handle on their powers but younger characters will probably still be novices. Though this takes place 100+ years after X-MEN canon, no canon X-MEN or next gen X-MEN characters will be accepted unless you have a valid reason for their return, (ex. Scott Summers was cryogenically frozen for 100 years.
III. RULES
There’s bound to be mature content including but not limited to sex and violence in a group like this, so we ask that all muns and characters be 18+, no exceptions.
While in characters drama is encouraged, OOC drama will not be tolerated.
Major plots should always be run by an admin. (ex. major injuries or NPC deaths) Pregnancy and in verse children plots will not be allowed because they don’t really have a place in an environment like this.
Activity will be required either on the group discord or on the dash, but preferably both. If we don’t feel like you’re contributing to the group, you will be asked to leave.
Characters from all fandoms will be accepted as well as original characters.
Each member is allowed up to THREE characters, but we might allow more in the future. If you have at least ONE teacher, you can have a FOURTH character.
Duplicate face claims will not be allowed so if a canon face claim has been taken you will have to use an alternate face.
Duplicate powers will not be allowed so get creative.
HAVE FUN!!

25 Bookish Facts Tag
Thanks @malazan-the-younger for tagging me! I love every excuse to talk about myself lololol.
1. I’m obsessed with Victorian literature. Seriously. If you ever want to talk about it, please. I love it.
2. My favourite author is Oscar Wilde. He was so sassy and fabulous and I just love him.
3. I’m not entirely sure why, but I really hate plots that focus on romance. If it’s a subplot, that’s cool. But if it’s the main focus, I can’t do it.
4. That being said, I REALLY want to read more LGBT+ romances.
5. I’m discovering that I really love space westerns!
6. I’m convinced that at the beginning of Romeo and Juliet, Samson and Gregory pull their dicks out.
7. I don’t have a favourite book, but I do have a favourite character. Regulus Black is my favourite character I’ve ever read and I have enough headcanons about him to fill a book.
8. I’m considering writing a fic about him but I have no idea where to start/if people would even want to read it.
9. I love the Harry Potter series, but I hate Harry Potter as a character. I’m not 100% sure why, but I do.
10. I may start writing book reviews in the very near future, so keep an eye out for those!
11. I love to read, but I’m really bad about actually doing it. I just graduated with my BA in English, so I’m having a hard time getting back into the swing of this “reading for fun” thing.
12. I’m a bit prejudiced against graphic novels. For the longest time, I didn’t really count them as “reading”. I’m learning that I was very wrong and there are plenty of great graphic novels out there that deal with content just as intense as a book without pictures!
13. That being said. If you want a good graphic novel to read, stop what you’re doing and read Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home. It’s a musical now too. And a good one. And it’s super gay!
14. I hate american literature with a passion, I’m not sure why. But American classics just don’t appeal to me.
15. I completely believe in forming your own opinions of books. Just because something is a classic, that doesn’t mean you’re obligated to like it. As long as you try to work out WHY you don’t like it instead of just being like “it sucks lol”.
16. Sometimes I can’t come up with a reason why I don’t like something, though, and that’s also totally cool. As long as I tried xD
17. I want to see a movie version of The Lunar Chronicles with Amandla Stenberg as Winter.
18. When I was younger I used to keep track of who borrowed which of my books for how long and what condition they were in before and after they were returned to me. And by younger I mean like... 10. So.
19. The first novel I ever read on my own was The Phantom Tollbooth. I remember it being about the length of Les Mis. It’s definitely not.
20. I don’t like reading non-fiction, but every so often I try again just to make sure. The one non-fiction book I really enjoyed was Neil Patrick Harris’ autobiography.
21. I like listening to music while I read, but I can’t have music with lyrics. It messes me up.
22. I. Love. Satire.
23. My go-to sfw recommendation is Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Such a good read, and raises a lot of philosophical questions! Great if you want a piece you really have to think about.
24. If you want something a bit less sfw, my go-to recommendation is Anthony Burgess’ A Clockwork Orange. But you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO READ THE BRITISH VERSION. It has an extra chapter that changes EVERYTHING.
25. I literally always want to make new reader friends so please come chat, I don’t bite!
I’m going to tag @abookblog, @eldritchbibliophile, @all-these-paperback-dreams, @srwhitehead, and anyone else who feels like doing this! You can say I tagged you if you want to! (I have a tendency to see things I want to fill out and get paranoid about doing it if I wasn’t tagged xD)
