Meet my characters for the upcoming novel: The Glowing Vines!

This is the second main character of the story:

His name is Jinn, he is an insect fae, who is a moth species subtype. He's the youngest of all of his six siblings, and is part of the ruling council for the Night Court. (their society only functions at night, they are nocturnal insect fae kingdom). He is angsty, stubborn, and proud, but very loveable.

Hugh Reginald Wallace

Born: November 12th, 1874, A Scorpio

Height: 6’2”

Patronus: Salamander (highly adaptable, over come strong obstacles and can regenerate lost limbs)

Wand: In 13 inches and a half inches, Phoenix Feather core with unbending characteristic, Black Walnut wood touch

Boggart: His father (Always the nightmare for Hugh and he wanted to destroy him in someways…)

Favorite Classes: DADA, Charm and Herbology

Favorite Beats: Graphorn, Hungarian Horntail

Best friends: Not really, he kept to himself and use people he can. But he sees Natty and Poppy as true and nearly closest friends he has, because their genuine touched him. (Surprisingly!)

Background

Hugh was born into a Welsh Muggle family in Cardiff. His parents and older sister were all surprised when they realized that their 12-year-old son knew and could use magic.

Hugh's father, Gilbert, a typical lawyer, began to perceive him as a freak and oddball, often abusing him harshly without his mother's knowledge, calling him a freak and even claiming that he never had this son.(The scar on his nose was also come from his father’s abuse.)He has always been strict and impatient with him even before he discovered that his son had magic talent. Hugh is afraid of hurting his mom and his sister’s feelings so he never tells them about it.

Instead of being intimidated by the magic, Hugh's mother Edith, a fictional writer, saw his magic talent as a beauty of the art/gift and thought he had potential, so she visited her brother Newman, Hugh's uncle, who was also a muggle-born wizard in the family, to ask him if he could help Hugh get to Hogwarts, where Newman had studied.

His sister Ingrid, like her mother, was always supportive and fascinated by his magical aptitude; but, unlike Hugh, Ingrid was a muggle and worked as a teacher at the local high school at the time. She loved Hugh very much and they always took care of each other. Without telling, Ingrid can sometimes senses Hugh’s abnormal when he towards their father.

Personality

Hugh developed a dark and twisted personality lurking beneath his feigned compassion and trustworthiness towards most people, despite the love and care supplied by his mother and sister, as a result of his father's violent verbal insults and physical abuse.However, if he accepted that others are genuinely pleasant to him, he would demonstrate genuine kindness and allow them to comprehend the terrible darkness within him, including his close friends and his sister.

The Hufflepuff tried to be polite and friendly to everybody, but in reality, he is the most apathetic and frigid person you would ever meet.

As a result of his father's maltreatment, he develops a manipulative and cynical disposition. It is difficult for him to trust people, but if he believes the person is trustworthy, he will be fiercely devoted and loyal. Still, if he suspects someone of betraying or tricking him, he may be nasty and cold-hearted as he could also step on someone to get to his ultimate goals, which causes him sometimes out of control.Hugh also keeps his own secret s(usually dirty little ones) to himself .

Apart from his darkness, Hugh is an charming, intelligent and humorous man with a high socialization skill who can easily persuade people and lure them into a trap if he sets his sights on a target and dominate them. Moreover, he is very good at sword art and dueling, which is rarely be seen within a Hufflepuff, but he is definitely not your typical Hufflepuff. However, deep down, he still has morality standards within him but he covers it with his cool and calm feign nature.

Overall, Hugh is perhaps the most difficult and complicated of my HL MCs. He could be kind but ruthless at the same time due to his twisted childhood with his father, which is rarely to equate with a Hufflepuff boi like him. :,)
