William Michael Griffin Jr. (born January 28, 1968) known by his stage name Rakim, is a rapper and record producer. One half of the duo Eric B. & Rakim, he is regarded as one of the most influential and skilled MCs of all time. He is considered a transformational figure in hip hop for raising the bar for the MC technique. He helped to pioneer the use of internal rhymes and multisyllabic rhymes, and he was among the first to demonstrate the possibilities of sitting down to write crafted lyrics packed with clever word choices and metaphors rather than the more improvisational styles and rhyme patterns that predominated before him. He is credited with creating the overall shift from simplistic old-school flows to more complex flows. He released four albums with DJ Eric B.: Paid in Full (1987), Follow the Leader (1988), Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em (1990), and Don't Sweat the Technique (1992). He has released three solo albums: The 18th Letter (1997), The Master(1999), and The Seventh Seal (2009). Paid in Full was named the greatest hip-hop album of all time by MTV in 2006, while he was ranked #4 on MTV's list of the Greatest MCs of All Time. The editors of About.com ranked him #2 on their list of the 'Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007)'. In 2012, The Source ranked him #1 on their list of the "Top 50 Lyricists of All Time". He is the nephew of the late R&B singer and actress Ruth Brown. He grew up in Wyandanch, New York. He wrote his first rhyme at seven years old, about the cartoon character Mickey Mouse. He aspired to play professional football. He was a quarterback on his high school football team. After being introduced to local DJ Eric B., he began writing lyrics to fit instrumentals and chose to focus on a music career. Then known as Kid Wizard, he made his first recordings live at Wyandanch High School in the year 1985. He was introduced to the Nation of Islam in 1986; he joined The Nation of Gods and Earths and adopted the Arabic name, Rakim Allah. He chose to use “Rakim Allah” as his stage name”. He has been nicknamed the "God MC" because of his acclaimed status as an MC and a reference to the "Allah" in his stage name. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence https://www.instagram.com/p/CoAR_wQrbau/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Times
Prince William ‘split his household from Prince Harry after Meghan bullying claims’
June 07 2021, 7.00am BST
‘So, are you saying,” asked Oprah Winfrey, talking to Meghan and Harry in their famous interview of March 2021, “that there were hints of jealousy?”
She was inquiring about the Sussexes’s wildly successful tour of Australia and the South Pacific of late October 2018, and the couple shifted uncomfortably in their plush wicker chairs.
“Look,” replied Harry, “I just wish that we would all learn from the past.”
By bringing up “the past”, the prince was venturing into an area that was almost taboo. He was making a sensational comparison between his mother and his wife. Harry was suggesting that Meghan had demonstrated in Australia the same massive star quality as Diana and was now having to face the family envy that went along with that.
“It really changed,” he said, “after the Australia tour, after our South Pacific tour . . . it was . . . the first time that the family got to see how incredible she is at the job. And that brought back memories.”
Memories of what? Again Harry shied away from putting words to the almost unmentionable. But Oprah had prepared and polished this moment, like so many others in the interview, and she had a reference ready to prompt her prince’s revelation. The latest, fourth season of TV’s The Crown had depicted Charles and Diana’s 1983 tour of Australia, showing how Diana had been “bedazzling” in her ability “to connect with people”. Episode six had depicted how the crowds would groan when they realised that Charles, not Diana, was walking down their side of the street — hence the beginnings of the “jealousy” on the family’s part.
“So is that what you’re talking about?” asked Oprah. “It brought back memories of that?”
“Yeah,” Harry finally replied in a fashion that was both dismal and unmistakably aggressive.
What on earth had happened, viewers had to wonder, to the old and once-familiar happy side of Prince Harry?
When trying to define the moment that marked the decisive rift with his brother William — the break-up and actual separation of the joint household they had established together in 2009 — Harry would fix upon his triumphant return with Meghan from their Australian tour at the end of October 2018. But if asked the same question, William would have fixed on a more specific event: the explosive argument he had had with his brother earlier that month.
Both brothers agreed how bitterly they had clashed back in the early days over William’s attempt to slow Harry’s courtship of Meghan — “Don’t feel like you need to rush this . . . ” But both of them had subsequently moved on. Harry’s transparent contentment with Meghan had relaxed the tensions, give or take the odd row over bridesmaids’ dresses. The “no speaks” had eased just a little by the time “best man” William escorted his brother down the aisle in May 2018.
Then five months later came the conclusive and determining rupture — the division that has lasted to the present day — though here the brothers’ retelling of history diverged. As Harry explained it to Oprah, Meghan’s Australian tour success sowed the jealousies that caused feelings to “change”. According to this scenario, William and Kate resented the Diana-like popularity that was generated by Harry’s wife. William had a different recollection.
We now know that Princes William and Harry were no longer on speaking terms before the Sussexes set off for Australia. Feelings had already “changed”, as Harry put it, and drastically so. The brothers had parted on extremely poor terms, with the trouble centring on Meghan’s stringent treatment and alleged bullying of her staff.
Most Kensington Palace courtiers were noted for the comparatively long tenures of their comfortable and prestigious jobs. But it came to look as if employees could not wait to escape service with Harry and Meghan. Those who left formed themselves into an informal fraternity that they titled the “Sussex Survivors’ Club”. They had finally hit back, and their organising agent had been PR man Jason Knauf.
The joint communications secretary for Kensington Palace — who was still, at that date, working on behalf of both of the brothers and their wives — had become concerned by the numerous stories of mistreatment being brought to him by colleagues whom he knew well and trusted.
Texas-born and New Zealand-educated, Knauf, 34, was a popular character in Kensington Palace, widely noted for his friendliness and loyalty towards his colleagues. He had been considered a real “catch” when the brothers snared him from the Royal Bank of Scotland in 2015, and one of his concerns was that professional management practices should be more effectively enforced inside the traditional British palace. Knauf’s American sensibilities caused him to see the Meghan situation as raising principles of human resources management in the palace system that needed to be formally addressed.
Knauf’s first priority was to set down the facts, as he saw them, for the record: “I’m very concerned,” he emailed to William’s private secretary Simon Case, in a document he drafted in October 2018, “that the duchess was able to bully two PAs out of the household in the past year.”
Knauf described Meghan’s treatment of one aide as “totally unacceptable . . . the duchess seems intent”, he wrote, “on always having someone in her sights”. Specifying another staff member, Knauf alleged Meghan had been bullying her as well, “seeking to undermine her confidence”. His office had received “report after report”, he wrote, from people who had witnessed “unacceptable behaviour” by Meghan towards this member of staff.
“Meghan governed by fear,” claimed one courtier. “So many people said it. Nothing was ever good enough for her. [She] humiliated staff in meetings, [would] shout at them, [would] cut them off email chains — and then demand to know why they hadn’t done anything.”
As early as 2017, around the time of the couple’s engagement, according to a subsequent report in The Times, a senior aide had spoken to the couple about the difficulties caused by their treatment of staff. “It’s not my job to coddle people,” Meghan was said to have replied.
“Americans can be much more direct,” wrote the authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in defence of the duchess, “and that often doesn’t sit well in the much more refined institution of the monarchy.”
A Brit might have raised an eyebrow at Meghan’s alleged behaviour, then looked the other way. The Yank decided to act. Knauf was actually one of Meghan’s most senior advisers — her chief adviser, in fact, when it came to public relations. Earlier that year she had gone to Knauf for help when drafting the disputed letter of severance that she sent to her father. She valued his PR expertise.
Before that, Knauf had helped Harry to word the fierce anti-media statements that he had framed to try to protect Meghan from press harassment, both as his girlfriend and then as his fiancée. The PR man had taken considerable stick from some of his non-royal contacts who criticised him as being overprotective in fighting the newcomer’s corner. Like so many people in all the palaces, Knauf had started off on Meghan’s side.
But as the months went by the American’s feelings became more ambiguous, as numerous colleagues — women whom he greatly respected — continued to bring him stories of what they said they had suffered at Meghan’s hands.
“I can’t stop shaking,” one aide had told a colleague in anticipation of an encounter with Meghan. Another reported that the prospect of confrontation with the duchess had made her “feel sick”. “Emotional cruelty and manipulation”, were the words of a third, “which I guess could also be called bullying.”
The b-word featured prominently in the accounts of several, along with an even more sinister set of initials: PTSD. Post-traumatic stress disorder was a deeply serious condition to allege — flashbacks, nightmares and feelings of deep anxiety — but that was how one complainant said that they had felt.
Several people maintained they had been “humiliated” by the duchess, and that criticism extended to Harry as well.
“I overheard a conversation between Harry and one of his top aides,” recalled one Kensington Palace courtier. “Harry was screaming and screaming down the phone. Team Sussex was a really toxic environment. People shouting and screaming in each other’s faces.”
Shouting and screaming? PTSD? Making people feel sick? Prince William went ballistic when he heard the “dossier of distress” that Knauf had gathered. We do not know whether the communications secretary brought his allegations directly to his boss or submitted them via Simon Case. What we do know is that the prince was astonished and horrified. He was instantly furious at what he heard.
“I remember Christian Jones [William’s press secretary and later private secretary] explaining to me how the Cams [the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge] are paternalistic with their staff,” recalls one royal correspondent. “They copy the Queen in that respect with all her Christmas parties and Christmas presents to her people. They’re proud to treat their staff like family. They recognise that they don’t get paid loads of money, so they are just really nice to them. So this was a very deep clash of philosophies, with Meghan being used to a Hollywood service culture — getting exactly what she wanted whenever she wanted in that famous way that Harry said.”
William personally knew and liked all the individuals whom Knauf had named in his dossier. The prince regarded them as assets to his household — colleagues to be cherished and for whom he was responsible. Human beings. Like Knauf, the prince was appalled that his respected staff may have been put in this position.
For William, Knauf’s allegations also clarified something that the prince had long believed — that Meghan was fundamentally hostile towards the royal system, which she failed to understand as an outsider. William wondered if she had not wanted to leave from the very start — even dreaming, perhaps, that she could whisk Harry back with her to North America.
But Meghan’s lawyers and PR representatives said this was quite the wrong interpretation of their client’s thinking and behaviour in a statement that they issued to The Times early in March 2021. They denied all allegations of bullying as inaccurate and the product of what they described as a “smear campaign”. The duchess wished to fit in and be accepted, they insisted. She had left her life in North America to commit herself to her new role.
I have never met Jason Knauf. What you have just read is based upon the published accusations that Knauf set down on paper — refuted as “defamatory”, it must be stressed again, and “based on misleading and harmful information” in the view of the Duchess of Sussex’s lawyers. It also relies upon William’s personal account of these events to one of his friends who then spoke to this author.
The moment the prince heard the bullying allegations, he related to this friend, he got straight on the phone to talk to Harry — and when Harry flared up in furious defence of his wife, the elder brother persisted. Harry shut off his phone angrily, so William went to speak to him personally. The prince was horrified by what he had just been told about Meghan’s alleged behaviour, and he wanted to hear what Harry had to say.
The showdown between the two siblings was fierce and bitter. William’s pre-engagement questioning of Meghan’s suitability had been quite reasonable, in William’s opinion. His fraternal doubts had been provisional, based upon how the new recruit appeared to be. The elder brother did not really know Meghan in those early days.
But now William had seen enough of his sister-in-law to feel sure that, sadly, he did know her and that many of his reservations linked unhappily with what Knauf’s colleagues had alleged. William believed Meghan was following a plan — “agenda” was the word he used to his friend — and the accusations he had just heard were alarming. Kate, he said, had been wary of her from the start.
Meghan was undermining some precious principles of the monarchy, if she really was treating her staff in this way, and William was upset that she seemed to be stealing his beloved brother away from him. Later courtiers would coin a hashtag — #freeHarry. It was only half a joke.
“Meghan portrayed herself as the victim,” recalled one Kensington Palace staffer, “but she was the bully. People felt run over by her. They didn’t know how to handle this woman. They thought she was a complete narcissist and sociopath — basically unhinged. Which was why the pair of them were drawn to each other in the first place — both damaged goods.”
William felt deeply wounded. “Hurt” and “betrayed” were the two feelings that he described to his friend. The elder brother had always felt so protective. He had seen it as his job to look out for Harry but this was the moment the protection had to stop. At the end of the day the British crown and all it stood for with its ancient traditions, styles and values — the mission of the monarchy — had to matter more to William than his brother did.
Harry, for his part, was equally furious that William should give credence to the accusations against Meghan, and he was fiercely combative in his wife’s defence. Some sources maintain that in the heat of the argument Harry actually accused someone in the family of concepts that were “racist”. But it must be stressed that neither brother has ever confirmed that the hateful r-word was used face to face.
Only William and Harry can know what they said to each other and they have respectfully maintained their silence on that. But Harry made clear to the world in his interview with Oprah that he considered his family’s response to Meghan to have been essentially racist — using the heavily freighted code words “unconscious bias” to provide an intellectual framework for his analysis.
Where could the two brothers go after such painful and damning notions had been thrown into their debate?
We have reached the crux of the drama. What painfully unforgettable and surely unforgivable things have been said? These are not passing differences. They are two core sets of values in conflict — love versus duty — going to the very heart and deriving from the deepest beliefs and loyalties of each man. Two opposing identities butting heads. In the months following the tragic and not-obviously bridgeable rift of October 2018 between William and Harry, the younger brother solidified his belief that his family were suffering from “unconscious bias”.
William, for his part, felt just as strongly about Meghan and the need for her subversive “agenda” to be removed from the operations of the British monarchy, which she did not appear to understand or respect. He certainly wanted Meghan removed, for a start, from the hitherto harmonious joint household that he and his brother had operated together for the best part of a decade. William simply did not want her or Harry around any more.
When accounts of the rift started seeping out through the winter months that followed, it was generally assumed that the volatile Harry must have set the pace in the splitting up of the joint Kensington Palace household. He was the brother who visibly departed, stalking off to set up a new home in Windsor, with offices for himself and Meghan in Buckingham Palace.
But the reverse was the case. It was William who made the decisive move. Following his furious confrontation with his younger brother in the autumn of 2018, the prince instructed Simon Case to start the process of dividing their two households immediately. William wished to be separated from Meghan on a day-to-day basis — and that meant being separated from his brother as well.
“William,” says a friend, “threw Harry out.”

In The Blood (2014)
Genre: Action
Who's In It: Gina Carano, Cam Gigandet, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Danny Trejo, Luis Guzman, Amaury Nolaslo, Stephan Lang, Treat Williams
Who Directed It: John Stockwell
Plot: When her husband goes missing during their Caribbean vacation, a woman sets off on her own to take down the men she thinks are responsible.
Run Time: 1 Hour 48 Minutes
IMDB Score:5.7
Metascore: 40
Why I Watched It: Mostly the cast.
How I Watched It: Tubi
Random Thoughts: Boy that is a boring ass poster, I mean at least try a little. Also poor Cam Gigandent isn't even on the poster in name form. He's the missing husband. That plot description goes very well with the poster. Cliched on both counts and tells you nothing.
This took me a long ass time to watch it, one of the things was finding it streaming. So it took almost ten years and watching it on Tubi to finally see the damn thing, no it wasn't worth the wait.
Also this was the movie where we figured out Gina Carano was not going to be a mainstream action star, at least as a lead, she's had a good career in made for DVD/streaming though and I've seen a couple of them.
What I Liked: John Stockwell is a very good genre director, he usually makes a very watchable and different B-Movie. If you love genre you know him if you don't go check his IMDB he's had a fun career. Of course I've seen a bunch of his films. Here he's made another on paper by the numbers action movie but with soime quirks, this is an odd film, wouldn't call it good but t's watchable and that is Stockwell's calling card. Now I will warn you about the cast Treat Williams and Stephen Lang are barely in it, both are cameos and Lang is almost blink and you miss him. Which is too bad cause they were half the reason I watched the film.
The action or shall I say violence is more brutal and gritty then slick and fun which also surprised be. I thought this would be a slight but fun action but it's a lot darker and not as much fun as you would have hoped. Now I put this in the like section because at least they did something different, they kind of zigged when you though that would zag. The acting is a mixed bag but I did like they kind of tried to flesh out characters Luis Guzman is good here, heck he's always good, granted he should be in a different movie cause his arc is very unexpected. Carrano is not a great actor but she does have presence and of course she's believable action wise. She has the look of an action star just not the acting chops.
The film does go in different directions and there is a character that doesn't go the way you would think, again this movie is trying not to be a cookie cutter action film and at times it does succeed.
What I Didn't Like: My two things that screw up a movie for me is tone and pacing and this film does crap the bed in both areas. Pacing wise this film drags and it's way too long. Tone wise it's a mess, there's like two films at play here and they keep butting heads, this film is too goofy to be a hard hitting action film and it's also too brutal and at times mean to be fun. The tones shifts really make it an odd watch. Now it's not a terrible thing but it does make the film lose it's flow. This film does stop start a few times.
Now I say this as someone who doesn't mind Gina Carano, I do find her charming but she's a bit over her head here. She's asked to do some heavy lifting acting wise and she kind of falls short. She's good with the action but I'll be honest for here there's just as much drama as there is action. They really could have used Lang and Williams to have bigger parts to help out. I should also say Trejo is barely in it as well and his character is all over the place. That's the other thing with this film the plot does not go in a straight line and I will say once you find out what's going on it really does feel like we've flipped into another movie. The ending is also weird, and not fun weird like well that's a strange way to end an action movie. The ending drags like crazy could have chopped it in half.
Final Thoughts: Not boring but very uneven and just doesn't really mesh all the way through.
Rating: 5/10

2021 Teen Wolf ReWatch - S1E2
Tumblr media
My Take from the episode Including: Info-Dump, and Questions & Concerns
Info-Dump:
Lacrosse: (”la crosse” = "the stick", French) is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins in a tribal game played by the indigenous peoples of the Eastern Woodlands and by various other indigenous peoples of North America. The game was extensively modified by European colonizers to create its current collegiate and professional form. The modern sport is governed by World Lacrosse and is the only international sport organization to recognize First Nations bands and Native American tribes as sovereign nations.
Lacrosse Jersey Numbers (so far):
> Scott McCall - 11 > Stiles Stilinski - 24 > Jackson Whittemore - 37 > Danny Mahealani - 6 (Background)
First Mention of Greenberg: COACH: “Greenberg, take a lap! Let's go! Faster, Greenberg! Let's go.” (Could be #31)
Fire Extinguisher: Black Label = CO2 or Carbon Dioxide. Typically used for Class B (flammable liquids and gases) and Class C (energized electrical) fires. Carbon dioxide can be used to extinguish flames by flooding the environment around the flame with the gas, thus starving the flame by displacing the oxygen.
Class Roster (so far):
> English: Stiles, Scott, Allison > Biology: Stiles, Lydia > Algebra: Lydia, Scott > French: Allison
Quadratic Formula: (-b±√(b²-4ac))/(2a)
AOL(?): The chat icon during Stiles and Scott’s video chat resembles the yellow AOL guy. Fun Fact: AOL shut down on February 24, 2017.
Morgue Drawer #1: 4486[11] - 201026738 | Semret Fesseha | 1568 879 4H876: aka, art department Coordinator/Director Semret Fesseha for Teen Wolf Season 1.
Morgue Drawer #2: 5775[53] - 201020192 | JANE DOE - PARTIAL | POLICE EVIDENCE | DO NOT TAMPER | 5678 107 54987: Toe Tag: Office of the Medical Examiner | Age: Unknown | Race: W | Sex: F | Case No: 376-098726 | Name: Jane Doe | Tagged: Partial | Tagged By: Dr. James B. Brothers
Cortisone Shot:  Cortisone shots are injections that can help relieve pain and inflammation in a specific area of your body. They're most commonly injected into joints. The injections usually contain a corticosteroid medication and a local anesthetic. Often, you can receive one at your doctor's office. Because of potential side effects, the number of shots you can get in a year generally is limited.
“The Wolf Man”: is a 1941 (Same year that BHHS was founded) American horror film. The film stars Lon Chaney Jr. in the title role. Claude Rains, Warren William, Ralph Bellamy, Patric Knowles, Bela Lugosi, Evelyn Ankers, and Maria Ouspenskaya star in supporting roles. The title character has had a great deal of influence on Hollywood's depictions of the legend of the werewolf.
Relevant/Parallel (Wolf Man) Plot Points:
> Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr.) returns to his ancestral home in Llanwelly, Wales to bury his recently deceased brother and reconcile with his estranged father, Sir John Talbot (Claude Rains). Fun Fact: We’re gonna see the Surname Talbot again in TW S4E5 in Brett Talbot.
> “Even a man who is pure in heart, and says his prayers by night; May become a wolf when the wolfsbane blooms and the autumn moon is bright.” in later films the final line is changed to "And the moon is full and bright"
> The night of the next full moon, he begs his father to restrain him to prevent him from hurting anyone else.
> The movie ends with Sir John and Gwen watching in horror as the dead werewolf transforms into Larry's human corpse.
Questions & Concerns:
Let’s Keep track of how many times someone hides in the locker room rafters: 2 (because I bet it’s gonna happen again)
Gotta wonder if being sprayed with a CO2 extinguisher feels like being choked...maybe like having an asthma attack?
I’m most offended that when Derek came in through the window, he probably stepped on Scott’s bed with his shoes on like a complete psychopath. (Alternately, what kinda psycho has the head of their bed beneath their open blindless/curtainless window???)
Allison is is French class...does she already know French? Or that her family knows French? Is that a part of her family identity at all yet?
Allison made a point to tell Scott to invite Stiles after the game. +10 good girlfriend points to Allison...for now...
Does Derek know that Allison is an Argent? Like surely he does, but does he??? He’d warn our boy about the hunter’s right?
It’s pretty easy to see how Scott correlates being a werewolf with being unable to have the things that he wants. You have Lydia tying Allison to his Lacrosse performance, and Coach telling him that if he doesn’t play now, he doesn’t play at all, then you have Stiles tying Scott’s increased heartrate to both Lacrosse and Allison, warning him away from both, and then ultimately Derek telling him not to play Lacrosse at all, and further inciting Scott via Allison and her jacket. (Not to mention Allison’s dad is a Hunter, so he’s got the dual motivation of not MY daughter, and not a damn werewolf for SURE.)  Not that Scott would actually BE on first line without the bite, but he previously made it clear that he had fully intended on making the first line that season regardless.
Christ, Derek, that is a well buried, but TERRIBLY hidden dead body, ffs. Throw a couple of leaves on it or SOMETHING.
Totally just assumes that Derek is going to be at the burned out husk of his family home...I mean he was RIGHT, but that wouldn’t have been MY first thought.
WHY ARE THERE NO LOCKS OR KEYCARD ACCESS FOR THE MORGUE/POLICE EVIDENCE?
Is the Hale ability to full shift only tied to the Alpha Spark? Or being a Hale? Or having at some point been an Alpha Hale? Because Laura being in her full shift while dead (and therefore Alpha Spark-less) makes it seem more of a Hale thing?
Why does the Wolfsbane put/keep Laura in her full shit? She was human when Scott first came across her...
This is the first indication that even being NEAR wolfsbane can cause a werewolf physical harm...Which begs the question, how did Derek A) weave wolfsbane into a rope and then carefully bury it in a spiral around Laura’s body. or B) get ahold of both wolfsbane rope and an entire wolfsbane flower...
If I stand by the observation that Scott was nearly hit by a red SUV *cough* Victoria *cough* at the beginning of the first episode, I find even greater joy in Chris Argent actually hitting him with it in the second episode.
Stiles’ dad being at the game even though he’s a bench warmer makes me soft like marshmallow.

“Two of Five Escaped Oakalla Prisoners Are Captured In Vancouver,” The Province (Vancouver). January 4, 1932. Page 1 & 2. ---- Desperadoes Manipulated Centrally-controlled Cell Locks to Reach Corridor of Jail Tier And Then Filed Window Bars. --- USED BLANKET ROPE TO DROP FROM SECOND FLOOR  --- Three of Party Believed to Have Made Attempts to Escape Before - Police Guard All Roads. ---- At 2:45 p.m. Vancouver police received a vicious characters believed to be Hagley and call that three suspicious characters believed to be Bagley and his companions had been seen near Still Creek. Burnaby. Officers were sent to investigate. A party of constables searched Kitsilano Indian reserve where men in prison uniform had been reported. They could find no trace of the suspects, however.
"We were not part of the jailbreak conspiracy," Lane told officers. "Moore and I saw Bagley going through the fourteen-inch hole which they had cut in the wall and waited for twenty minutes afterwards before we also went out.
"We met the other three afterwards, but decided to go our separate ways. We haven't seen them since and have no idea where they went."  ---- COLD and hungry, after less than eighteen hours freedom, William Lane and Norman Moore, two of five prisoners who made a sensational escape from Oakalla jail Sunday evening, were captured early this afternoon in vacant brush land near Thirty-third avenue and Prince Edward street, by officers of "B" Division city police.
Sergeant Charles Thomas and Constable Allan Slattery arrested the unresisting pair after receiving information from a woman resident of the district. "
Cold," was the terse and only comment made by the shivering pair to arresting officers. At city headquarters they admitted that they had separated from Bagley, Fawcett and Sorge immediately after getting away from Oakalla. Moore was dripping wet after trying vainly to hide in swamp undergrowth.
On information given him, Constable Slattery investigated the presence of a suspect in the vicinity named near Mountain View cemetery. He recognized the prison clothes and arrested Lane without trouble.
Sergeant Thomas rushed to the scene and called for reinforcements. Before they arrived, however, he saw a movement in the brush from his vantage point on a high stump. He arrested the second fugitive. Motorcycle officers Ambrose and Lloyd arrived within a few minutes and officers soon satisfied themselves that the two were alone. They searched the vicinity thoroughly but found no trace of the other fugitives.
Lane was arrested at 12 :50 p.m. and Moore at 1 :20 p.m.
STOLEN CAR RECOVERED NEAR NORTH ARM OF FRASER. Shortly before noon the stolen car used by the convicts following their escape was found in the 2000 block, East Sixty-fifth street. Its discovery led police to believe that the other three prisoners may have had a boat waiting for them on the North Arm of the Fraser River.
The car was a coupe stolen from Victor Cooper, 3455 Imperial street, Burnaby, which is only half a mile from Oakalla, at 6 :55 o'clock Sunday night. There were no marks to indicate that all five men had crowded into it. No other trace of the men has been found despite a widespread search by all police forces of the lower mainland.
In the meantime Assistant Commissioner W. R. Dunwoody of the provincial police is conducting an investigation into the jail break. Warden Walter Owen suspended two .guards, D. Campbell and P. D. G. Cunningham, pending investigation into the break. Campbell was on duty in that part of the jail containing the cells from which the men escaped and Cunningham had been in charge of the shift previous to the escape.
SOME DELAY IN BROADCASTING NEWS. The jailbreak was discovered at 7 o'clock when Guard Campbell was making his rounds. The men, who occupied five cells in a tier of twenty, had been placed in their rooms at 4 :30 o'clock after an early Sunday dinner.
New Westminster police were informed at 7:15 of the jailbreak and Vancouver police were warned at 7:50.
Those who escaped were:
William Bagley, 39, slender, bespectacled bank robber and safecracker, awaiting appeal from a sentence of fourteen years and fifteen lashes, for Harrison Hot Springs Hotel robbery in April, 1931;
The practice of prison authorities is to permit criminals who appeal sentences to remain in Oakalla pending final judicial decision in their cases.
Frank Sorge, 27, in Oakalla pending appeal of sentences of four years on each of two charges of possessing burglars' tools;
Gordon Fawcett, 23, sentenced to eighteen months for automobile theft and three years for complicity in the attempted holdup of Bank of Montreal branch, Sixteenth and Cambie, several months ago;
Norman Moore, 25, committed for trial in Burnaby on a charge of breaking and entering;
William Lane, serving one year for car theft in Chilliwack, concurrent with a sentence in Kelowna of two years for receiv-ing stolen property. He was also sentenced in Vernon to two years for breaking and entering, the term to start at expiration of the others.
DESPERATE FIGHT IS ANTICIPATED. Police officers engaged In the hunt are working with caution. They have they been warned that the fugitives, particularly Bagley and Sorge, will probably lose no time in obtaining arms, if they have not already done so, and that they will fight to the death rather than submit to capture.
It was only recently that Bagley, held in Whatcom jail, awaiting extradition to Canada on Harrison Hot Springs Hotel robbery charge, attempted to shoot his way to freedom. His gun misfire, however, when he drew it on Jailer Earl Loop, and as he fled, Loop fired and struck him in the thigh.
Bagley is an old time convict, having served a term of ten years with twenty lashes for a bank robbery in Nanaimo.
Sorge also put up a terrific struggle before arrested in Vancouver on charges for which he was sentenced. He seriously injured Detective John Berry when the latter was apprehending him in a West End rooming-house.
‘I’m convinced that Bagley will never he taken alive," said one police official Sunday night. "He'll fight It out to the last"
There is one peculiar coincidence In the situation. Two of the men who fled Sunday night, and who are believed to have escaped In the coupe - Moore and Lane - were both Involved in former attempted escapes from Oakalla, and in  both instances one of their companions was killed. On March 21, 1927, Lane and a man named McGregor, made a break from from the Jail. MGregor was killed In the attempt. On August 11, 1926, Moore and William Marsden. alias Brewster, made a dash for liberty and Brewster was shot by a guard and fatally Injured.
The escape will be the subject of an exhaustive investigation, It Is declared j by Deputy Warden C. C. Whebell of Oakalla. Bagley was one of the most carefully-guarded Inmates of the Jail. and since his entry last June officials had been watching with utmost caution to outwit possible plans for escape.
GUARDED AGAINST PLANS FOR ESCAPE Time and again rumors were carried to them that Bagley was working with outside confederates to gain his liberty, and on each occasion every precaution was taken to guard against a break.
In his routine prison life the man was classed as a good prisoner, but guards never slackened their watch on him. It was Just a few months ago that officials found firearma, ammunition and a bottle of ammonia In a stump near the Jail, which they believe had been secreted by Bagley's friends In readiness for a break.
Even as recently as four days ago. prison authorities were "tipped off" that Bagley had another scheme brewing and he was moved from a former cell tier to the one from which he escaped.
"He's a dangerous man," said Whebell ruefully.
It was at 7 o'clock that absence of the quintette was noticed. Guard D. Campbell was making his  regular rounds and found the five cells empty. There are twenty cells where the men were confined and prisoners were assigned to nineteen. HACKSAW BLADE FURNISHED PRISONERS. In some manner possibly from an outside confederate a hacksaw blade waa obtained, and It is thought the prisoners cut the bars between 4:30 o'clock when they were locked In their cells after dinner and 7 o'clock, when their escape was discovered. One of the five, Lane, had been assigned the task of cleaner for the particular tier occupied by the escaped men. and he was not usually locked In his cell until 7 o'clock.
The Ingenuity of the men - and the plan is credited to Bagley - is exemplified by the fact that they managed to manipulate the cell locks to gain freedom to the corridor which passes outside the cages. The locks are controlled from a master lever, which can open all, or any one of the cell doors. Never before has a prisoner been able to open these locks. In this case, however, the whole five were opened.
It is thought that one of the men, possibly Lane, who as cleaner had freedom of the cell-corridor after the others were locked In, sawed his way through the narrow bars at the end of the corridor, first cutting through a light "V-Joint" wooden wall covering the grill. To prevent light from penetrating this opening, a piece of blanket was hung over it.
TWO BARS CUT AND BLANKET TIED. Through this opening the men could enter a main corridor with access to a barred window. Two bare on this window were cut through, a blanket fastened to a bar, and the five slid to freedom. Prom the end of the blanket to the ground they dropped eighteen feet. Two halves of a hacksaw blade were found near the window.
The remaining fourteen prisoners In the tier were left In their cells. Officials believe the fugitives did not offer to take the other prisoners with them, as a Jail delivery would hinder their evident plans for a quiet break.
Once outside, it is conjectured by both police and prison officials, the fugitives found confederates waiting In an automobile with clothing to cover the prison garb and with guns. They point to the fact that two men took a car and fled through New Westmlnster. Since no other automobile was reported stolen in the district, it Is assumed that the other three had made previous arrangements for transportation.
ALARM BRINGS REINFORCEMENTS. As soon as the escape was noticed Oakalla officials Instituted a hasty but thorough search of the grounds and the district surrounding the Jail. Misty rain added to the difficulties. Police of New Westminster were notified at 7:15 o'clock, and immediately Chief Cameron summoned his entire force and set patrols on Fraser bridge and all possible points of egress,
Two Vancouver constable were sent to augment the Royal City force and guard the bridge where all cars, moving In either direction, were stopped and searched. Hardware stores were guarded, on the possibility that the fugitives would seek to break Into any store where they might obtain firearms. Chief Cameron also ordered patrols to watch freight trains passing through New Westminster. Fraser River waterfront was thoroughly patrolled.
Vancouver police were notified at 7:50 o'clock, and other districts were warned to watch for the fugitives. Police have been despatched to the International border, customs and Immigration authorities have been notified, and police of Seattle have been told to be on the lookout for Bagley and his two companions as far east as Hope all roads are guarded.
"MASTER MIND OF HARRISON ROBBERY.  Bagley was sentenced at the fall Assize Court at New Westminster, November 19, 1931, by Chief Justice Aulay Morrison to fourteen years and fifteen lashes after being convicted of robbery with violence in connection with Harrison Hot Springs Hotel holdup last April. He was in Oakalla prison pending an appeal of this sentence.
He was the only one of the three bandits captured In connection with the crime. in which he was undoubtedly the "master mind." After blowing the safe in the hotel lobby, holding up the Japanese night watchman, and escaping with about 400, the trio fled in a stolen automobile as far as Mission City. There they engaged In a running gun battle with provincial police and doubled back to Deroche. Near this point they disappeared after abandoning the car.
Bagley was captured by the United States border patrol near Nooksack. Wash. He waa taken to Whatcom County Jail at Bellingham.
Brought to Oakalla Jail In June. Bagley refused immediate election and his trial was stood over from the spring assizes until the fall court.
Bagley was one of the six bandits who on Friday. December 12. 1924, Invaded the Royal Bank of Canada at Nanaimo, and at the point of revolver, rifled bank vault of $43,000. They escaped In an automobile. The money was a portion of a mining company'a payroll. Bagley was convicted later. The robbery, which was the first of its kind in Nanaimo for half a century, caused a sensation throughout the lower mainland. Unusual ability and determination was shown by the bandits, who on one occasion escaped from police by strewing nails on a Vancouver Island highway, thus puncturing tires of an auto carrying officers who were close behind them.
[AL: This escape took almost eight months to resolve, with Bagley finally tried in October 1932. I’ll be using the tag ‘1932 oakalla escape’ to track it as I post.]

*takes of Anon glasses* alright. Let's show you a different version of yourselves! I gotta do em on at a time tho-
Tumblr media
This is princess Cassidy, around age 3. She had a very different life-
After being murdered at the age of three, she went on to possess the Springlock Freddy prototype animatronic. The animatronics in her universe have souls of their own, made of magic. Each animatronic had a different relationship with their spirits. Freddy and Gabriel had a father son relationship, Chica had a more playful version of mother and daughter relationship with Susie, Bonnie was a father figure to Jeremy and also a mentor, Fritz was Foxy's first mate and son, while Cassidy and Golden Freddy where like siblings.
The spirits don't remember who killed them, except for Cassidy. All the spirits were too scared to get close to anyone, so the animatronics killed nightguards so Cassidy would feel safe enough to check and see if it's the killer. They ended up killing thousands of nightguards before they found him. Many of those nightguards were innocent, and/or played vital roles at home, with their deaths effecting more people than just the nightguards.
But after killing William Afton, using Springbonnie. Cassidy lied and said it wasn't him. Because she and Goldie made a "friend" named Chara. Chara was a demon of Genocide, forced to feed on something called L.O.V.E that can only be obtained by murder. Afton had actually made a deal with this demon, and they're why he killed in the first place in this AU. Cassidy wanted to continue killing people so Chara would still be fed. What is "L.O.V.E" you ask? It stands for Level Of ViolencE.
After years of murder, and fruitless searches for Afton, humans find out where all the nightguards are disappearing to. They try and go to war with the machines, but the animatronics surrender and pleaded for their lives. Not wanting to explain why Freddy and his friends were killed on live TV, humans decided to lock animatronics underground with an ancient spell.
Skip a few years, and a society has been started underground. Made up of old animatronics, and nightguards possessing the suits they were stuffed in. Freddy went on to be king of animatronics, Foxy the captain of the Royal Guard, Bonnie the Royal scientist, and Chica just opened a shop that sells baked goods. Golden Freddy goes on to be like the prince of the underground.
Skip another few years, and doctor Bonnie did the impossible. He found a way to raise the dead. He brings back Cassidy, and she gets a second chance at life. She becomes the princess of the underground, and she and Golden Freddy become the underground's hope that they can right their wrongs and have peace with humans.
Tumblr media
Here's a photo of the golden royals. In this picture Cassidy has grown, and turned ten.
Your opinions?
"Wow! Thats a really cool Au! The storyline makes sense. The only thing I didn't really understand, is why I was killing. I would never actually kill people, and once again, sorry to Mike, I thought you were William. But the fact that we were killing the nightguards to find the killer made sense. But this is an au, so I completly understand things are different. And I like the fact you made it make sense. I also love the relationship between me and golden freddy, that concept makes a lot of sense, its kind of like the relationship between me and CC. We are like siblings. And don't tell Micheal B. (Micheal Brooks) and Kelsey, but he is my favorite other soul that lives in Golden Freddy. So i'll give it a 9.5/10. Also, the rest of the Golden Freddy souls say the same." Cassidy (golden freddy) says.
"Don't mind Cassidy, she can sometimes get a little bit off topic. But she's still pretty good with reviews. I agree with her, I really like this AU and it has a good concept that makes more sense then other AUS. Also, love the drawing, I could never make something so good! 10/10" Charlie (puppet) adds on.
"I really like this AU, it makes sense unlike some other aus with stuff like 'Elizabeth is a brat' and stuff like that. Like Charlie says, I really love the artwork, and also, the plot twist with the L.O.V.E thing was really good, I wasn't expecting that. 10/10 for me." Gabriel (freddy) says.
"Aigh't mate, I'm just gon' make this simp'le 11/10. This 'AU' is great." Fritz (foxy) says.
Jeremey (bonnie) nods. "Yes, I agree with everyone. I really like this au, it makes sense, and it had a great story line. You don't see that in many aus, 12/10 for me." he adds on.
"Like everyone said, this au makes sense and has good plot points. It also sounds like something that could happen! Definitely. I also like me and Chica's relationship, I wish I had another person in this suit. As much as I know I'm lucky to have my own personal space, it gets a bit lovely sometimes, you know? So, to sum it up, i really like this au. 10/10." Suzie (chica) says.
"Thank you for asking, @glitterdragonthegreatprotector , we really appreciate your hard work on this au. Also, great drawing! I 'L.O.V.E' this au. have a good day mate!" Mike says attempting a dad joke at the end.
"CC says; that joke was terrible Mike." Cassidy replies.
"Your just jealous of my sense of humor!" Mike says jokingly. Then he laughs.
"Thanks for asking, now if you don't mind me my shift is over for the night, and tomorrow they are going to go back to killing me. See you later." and then goes out the door.
A/N
hello everyone, this is the mod. I just wanted to say, that if you want to talk to alive, soul, or undead version of a character please specify. Right now, you were just talking to undead! fnaf 1 and undead! mike afton. So yeah, just so you guys know. But I do also really like this Au. 15/10 for me. See you all later! -mod

Some folklore thoughts 💭🌲✨🏳️‍🌈
Part 1
I’m going to take it song by song while also tracking key themes in red! Please also feel free to add in your thoughts in the comments, I’m curious to see what else people think folklore is about...
folklore
‘folklore’ is defined as “a body of popular myths or beliefs relating to a particular place, activity, or group of people.” or, by Steve from Taylor’s IC,”the traditional beliefs, customs, and stories of a community, passed through the generations by word of mouth.” Taylor herself in her introduction/prologue says  “A tale that becomes folklore is one that is passed down and whispered around. Sometimes even sung about. The lines between fantasy and reality blur and the boundaries between truth and fiction become almost indiscernible. Speculation, over time, becomes fact. Myths, ghost stories, and fables. Fairytales and parables. Gossip and legend. Someone’s secrets written in the sky for all to behold.”
the 1
- firstly, it’s the best opening track she’s ever had! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
- “I’m doing good, I’m on some new shit” = sounds to me like a conversation you have with an ex, like someone is saying “yeah I’m doing great, I’m dating/doing ‘x’” the first time they run into their ex in a while.
-“I thought I saw you at the bus stop” has BIG “this city screams your name” energy but is also very clever by Taylor because Miss Karlie Kloss is ALWAYS on advertisements on bus stops/literal buses around the globe 🚌
- “I hit the Sunday matinee” to me seems like an inside thing, because obviously as the world biggest pop star, if taylor is going to go to the theatre or cinema, she’ll pick the least busy and most filled with older people which would be the Sunday matinee.
- “you know the greatest films of all time were never made” —> the greatest love stories never get told? happen behind the scenes? There’s something deeper here but I’m still forming the cohesive idea!
- “if you wanted me you really should’ve showed” = showed up or showed for the world, either way Taylor wanted KK to chose her not Josh so they could work but that didn’t happen so now she’s left to wonder.
- “roaring twenties” evokes two clear images for me! 1. They were both in their 20s for the entiretyof their relationship, the best years were spent together and 2. The Roaring 20s were a time of independence, pushing boundaries and breaking the rules of prohibition - which is basically what Taylor and Karlie were doing behind the scenes.
- “if my wishes came true, it would’ve been you” = let’s say, ONLY FOR ARGUMENTS SAKE, that Taylor really IS with Toe, that still means that this song is her yearning for someone else who she always loves more AND had to lose at some point. Looking at her past beards “relationships”, there are only two plausible options - Joe (which seems unlikely seeing as they’re still “together”) or CH who she supposedly wrote “you would’ve been the one if you were a better man” about. Either way doesn’t seem like it fits. However, if you look at it as Karlie is the 1, it becomes clear - it would’ve been fun being best friends and lovers for ever baking cookies and dancing around the kitchen, it would’ve been forever if Karlie hadn’t “married” jerk, it would’ve been her and it still is. 💗
- “in my defense I have none, for never leaving well enough alone” & “I know that I went psycho on the phone, I never leave well enough alone” are about the same moment with the same person = she didn’t leave well enough alone because she kept writing about Karlie and re-engaging us Kaylors as well as I’m sure, she kept up with seeing Karlie or keeping tabs on her to the point where it forced someone to reach out to the other.... she can’t apologise or defend her actions because you can’t explain the things you do for true love.
- “I have this dream you’re doing cool shit” aka starting a podcast, expanding businesses, making headway as an entrepreneur and being a highly-paid and respected international model? Seems straight forward 👀
- “you meet some woman on the Internet and take her home” = 1. Karlie is specifically interested in tech and the internet, it is literally her entire business and 2. if Karlie and Tay did break up, then because Karlie is actually NOT married to Josh, she hooked up with someone she met through the internet somehow (probs social media not an app) and Taylor found out this is probably a snarky comment about that from a jealous ex. Could possibly also be about the dream mentioned above. 💔🔐
- “another day waking up alone” = lost her lover, sleeps alone? Bold claim on opening tack.
- “persist and resist” = very famous feminist saying, civil rights/political echo?
- “the temptation to ask you if one thing had been different, would everything be different today” = this what if mentality continues through the album but personally, I think this is about Kissgate.
- “Rosé flowing with your chosen family” = repeats later, your chosen family could refer to Karlie’s group of friends like Derek and Jourdan etc.
- “would’ve been sweet if it could’ve been me” = flipped perspective, wishes Karlie chose her.
- “dragging up the grave another time” = firstly, THAT pin on her EW jacket now makes more sense. second, Taylor has written about Karlie for 4 straight albums now, she hasn’t let their love story die even if they did.
-
cardigan
- “brand new phone” = this is not some story, this is current reality. Taylor hides behind era-specific language and imagery in some other songs but this one is clearly about here and now, and her.
- “sensual politics” to me stands out because only really here and in TLGAD is politics explicitly mentioned and sensual politics to me screams sleeping with someone for political gain or with political connections which certainly sounds like someone...
- “when you’re young, they assume you know nothing” = sounds to me like a lot like a) love story and b) “you don’t know you’re gay, it’s just a PHASE! you’ll grow out of it!” 🏳️‍🌈
- “chase 2 girls, lose the one” = supposedly, when KK and TS met, Taylor was still in love/entangled with Dianna so perhaps she’s reflecting on making the wrong choice?
- CIWYW links: my baby’s high above the whole scene—> heartbeat on the high line, tidbit:as is clear in both Lover & 1989 New York is a sacred place for TS and KK’s love story, the high line is a) a beautiful NYC icon and b) right in between the girls’ two places...
- as mentioned, miss Karlie ELIZABETH Kloss was the brand model for Levi’s and definitely has worn some sequins and black lipstick on cobblestones sooooo.... 🤷🏼‍♀️
- “you drew stars around my scars” = see Drake’s birthday party and the infamous third Polaroid mystery 👀
- “stepping on the last train” could mean one of two things to me; 1. The last resort for KK was marrying J*sh or 2. the last train could represent some goodbye the girls had where KK chose something/someone else over Taylor.
- “peter losing Wendy” is such an interesting metaphor on so many levels but specifically, Wendy loses Peter because she wakes up (from nearly dying but nvm) and grows up and stops believing in Neverland and magic, basically Wendy loses an attachment to Peter because her reality shifts and that’s what gets remembered especially in the Disney version of the story. HOWEVER, the opposite is also true meaning Peter Pan loses Wendy because he can never co-exist with her again, he can never grow up or bring her back to Neverland without either killing her or ruining her. So this idea that someone wanted to change the ending from peter losing Wendy because he had to do what was best for her because he loved her echoes as Karlie didn’t want to marry Jerk or hurt Taylor but had to in order to protect her. Right? 😅
- “leaving like a father, running like water” = Taylor’s parents got divorced and there’s SOME thoughts Scott left the house and Taylor lives with her Mom in Nashville in her teen years.
- “I knew everything when I was young” - Taylor has always know she was LGBT+ 🌈 and also, baby VSFS vibes because as we all know, “we were both young when I first saw you...” send tweet.
- “I knew you’d come back to me” hopefully, HOPEFULLY foreshadows the girls being together/coming out soon !!!!!!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
- music video wise, I’ll do a break down soon.
TLGAD
- ‘Rebekkah’ refers to the previous owner of Taylor’s Watch Hill, RI house, Rebekah Harkness. She was a divorcee until marrying Standard Oil heir William (aka Bill) Hale Harkness, a new-money dynasty was formed in this time from their profit. There are MANY wild, whimsical stories about ‘Betty’ (which is obviously an extended metaphor of folklore)  that this song tries to re-create/recapture.
- Taylor is also known as ‘Becky’ due to the popular meme so this is quite literally a play on her own character as well as the previous inhabitants of the house.
- St Louis is not only Rebekkah’s hometown, but also Karlie Elizabeth Kloss’.
- “the wedding was charming, if a little gouche” seems like a direct shot fired at Karlie’s woodsy photoshoot of 2018 😂😂(ironically, folklore’s key aesthetic is the woods!!)
- “it must’ve been her fault his heart gave out” refers explicitly to William dying of a heart attack in the house, but subtly I feel like this is a dig at the media who constantly blame women for things they cannot control, as they have done with Taylor too many times to even count.
- “who knows if she never showed up, what could’ve been” seems like Taylor is stuck thinking about what may have happened for her and Karlie if things had been different, see the 1.
- “she/I had a marvellous time ruining everything” is such an incredibly provoking lyric on two fronts, 1. obviously taylor buying her RI house had a massive impact on an otherwise sleepy holiday town that is now more famous for Taylor’s july 4 parties than anything else and 2. seems introspective or personal, as if the things that ruined everything for Karlie and Taylor were the best and most marvellous parts of their relationship (big sur, kissgate etc.)
- “flew in all her bitch pack friends from the city” is not only about the friends and celebs Rebekkah was notorious for hosting but also Taylor’s ‘bitches and model’ girl gang circa 2015 which includes one Karlie Kloss.
- “blew through the money on the boys and the ballet” refers to Rebekkah’s love of wasting her fortune on things, including a ballet company that went under not long after she created it BUT also refers to Taylor paying so many boys to be her beards and PR stunts whilst also spending her money on a certain ex-Ballerina. Also remember her AMA’s performance of Lover/ bts of Shake It Off? 😉😉😉
- “50 years is a long time” - 50 seems deliberate, a bit of a reach but note it WAS the 50th anniversary of Stonewall last year. 🏳️‍🌈
-  “free of women with madness, their men and bad habits and THEN IT WAS BOUGHT BY ME.” - this clearly shows that ALL the songs are being narrated by Taylor, some of the lyrics are about her, some are about these fictional or fantastical characters she’s created but there is her truth behind all of them too.
- “the loudest woman this town has ever seen” = Taylor is undoubtedly the most famous woman in the town who regualrly causes uproar there (see the Sea Wall debacle and the Taylor Swift Tax)
- in all, the two famed women owner’s of Holiday House have many overlaps and are forever intertwined.
exile
- “i can see you standing honey with his arms around your body” as the opening line is LOUD. to me, feels like this is about ALL those staged photos of Josh and Karlie uncomfortable/fake as hell on social media.
- “laughing but the joke’s not funny at all” is something we’ve all thought about Karlie’s marriage before and is about that moment where if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry at the situation.
- “it took you 5 whole minutes to pack up ... holding all this love out here in the hall” to me is about someone moving out of a shared home, like Karlie from Taylor’s NYC apartment, after a break up or fight. We know it is MORE than likely that the girls’ broke up, for a while or for good, in 2017/18.
- “I think I’ve seen this film before, and didn’t like the ending” is a lot like “Cause cruelty wins in the movies, I've got a hundred thrown-out speeches I almost said to you” / “All of my heroes die all alone.” which makes me truly believe that delicate > the archer > exile are all the progression of the same love story.  ❤️
- “now I’m in exile seeing you out” = both of them have lost their home, exiled from the relationship.
- “I can see you staring honey, like he’s just your understudy” has a lot to unpack. Firstly, see this photo. Second, as a beard, Joe is quite literally Karlie’s understudy - stepping in only to fill a public void or play her part when she can’t.
- “like you’d get your knuckles bloody for me” is basically this tweet
- “second, third and hundredth chances” - hopefully this means the girls WILL be together again soon!!!
- “those eyes add insult to injury” - Taylor has often made explcit reference to her lover’s eyes, but this could also mean the eyes of the public on her every move and relationship not allowing her to properly grapple with break ups. 👁️
-  “i’m not your problem anymore, so who am i offending?” - homophobes love to say wlw or mlm relationships “offend” them or their beliefs, so who could taylor be offending if she’s publicly in a straight relationship?
- “you were my crown”, Taylor was/is Karlie’s princess, if Karlie is gone, Taylor doesn’t feel like she’s a princess anymore. Likewise, Karlie is Taylor’s sunshine which makes the moody, misty, dark aesthetics all the more relevant to this album.
- “so I’m leaving out the side door’ - this side door? the other side of the door?
- “all of this time, we always walked a very thin line” between outing themselves and being happy?
- “I gave so many signs” - Taylor has queercoded EVERY album since her self-titled, she has been dropping hints and signs for years that she is LGBT+ so it must be exhausting to have to keep hiding who she loves. This is repeated so many times - it means a lot.
- written with William Bowery who nobody can quite identify, but Karlie and Taylor have been to the Bowery many times together and William is mentioned earlier in TLGAD
- this whole song is a duet, a two-sided conversation between lovers - her and karlie both without each other.
my tears ricochet
- Track 5 is, as per usual, deeply confessional, personal, emotive and moving. 😿😿
- there are lots of theories and layers to this masterpiece of a song, including that it’s in reference to big machine. I personally think every single song of Taylor’s is made up of layers that reflect multiple things in her life and experience so plausibly it can be about multiple things all at once including Sco** and Scumbag as well as Karlie, who was under Scumbag’s management for the majority of the decade. Another theory which with every new listen I think is more and more possible is that this is alternating between Taylor and Karlie’s perspectives.
- ‘if i’m on fire, you’ll be made of ashes too” whoever is associated with Taylor will ALWAYS be dragged down with her. If she’s being attacked, they will be too. Big 2016 energy.
- “even on my worst day, did I deserve babe, all the hell you gave me?” could be directed at a lover, or at Big Machine, or even the public for all the shit they’ve said about Taylor over the years.
- “I swear I loved you ‘till my dying day” seems a lot like the 1, as well as could be about the music and the label she helped build.
- “I didn’t have it within myself to go with grace.” Taylor was LOUD about her split from Big Machine, she called them out (rightly) and made noise which is not a ‘graceful’ split.
- “you’re the hero flying around saving face” very easily is about S+S jackasses but deeper than that, while Taylor was under immense attack and criticism, everyone who actually like her music pretended suddenly to hate it and her to stay ‘cool’
- “cause if I’m dead to you why are you at the wake?” this lyric becomes especially important in the final verse but essentially those who publicly distanced themself from Taylor still showed up when she was thriving again and/or because they actually truly loved her *uhmm karlie uhmm*
- “cursing my name, wishing I stayed” either at Big Machine or with Karlie/Taylor.
- “some to make a diamond ring” > firstly we still have never understood the ring image from the LWYMMD and ME! videos, it is entirely possible this is a continuation of that same symbol/image. Second, I think this hints to Karlie getting ‘engaged’ while still being with Taylor, the rock for the ring in the song was found by the two people gathering stones after all.
- “you know i didn't want to have to haunt you” both Taylor and Karlie have big reputations all over the world that follow them everywhere. For either one, they will always be haunted by reminders of each other.
- “you wear the same jewels that I gave you as you bury me” - on the Big Machine side, Taylor made the label professional and big, she is literally the sole reason it succeeded in the music industry so she handed Sco** his fortune and reputation which he still had when he sold her music to Scumbag and got into a very dirty bed with him. From the Karlie side, many people have noted that not only does she wear her black cartier necklace, which is assumed to be from Taylor, but to her ‘wedding’ wore a necklace she’d worn before with Taylor.
- “when I’d fight you’d tell me I was brave” could refer to Sco** encouraging her in 2016 to defend herself. Could refer to Karlie supporting her behind the scenes.
- ‘and I can go anywhere I want, just not home” seems like a continuation from exile, as in she’s lost the place she called home because her lover is no longer there but could also mean she can’t go back to her other albums and the house (see the lover music video) that they created as her musical home.
- “you will still miss me in your bones” could be about Sco** losing his money and label without her there to physically support and carry it or about the fact that the love Taylor and Karlie had is so ingrained it’s in their bones forever.
- “and i still talk to you when I’m screaming at the sky” this lyric has a lot of possible interpretations (i’ve seen one about cursing out God?) but i think it’s similar to “asking the traffic lights if i’ll be alright” as in, it’s Taylor asking the universe to help her make sense of things.
- “when you can’t sleep at night, you hear my stolen lullabies” suggests a) sco** + scumbag is still haunted by the music they stole from Taylor because it was literally the backbone of the business which is now practically worthless and b) that Karlie is kept awake by the songs Taylor has written for and about her over the years which again were stolen away by the jackasses at Big Machine.
- “you had to kill me, but it killed you just the same” again, same idea - big machine will never be profitable without her/while they hold her masters hostage. BUT Karlie wise, breaking up with Taylor broke her too?
- this is where the song changes. it shifts from Taylor’s story to someone else’s, personally I think Karlie.
- “you turned into your worst fears” as in she settled for the money and sold her values off by marrying Josh. Also, Karlie was under Scumbag’s management for years (part of Taylor’s hatred of him was him keeping the girls’ from doing as they pleased) so by being completely controlled by him, she turned into this completely fake person. Contrast 2014/15 Karlie with 2017/18 Karlie and it so much more all about PR and money.
- “you’re tossing out blame, drunk on this pain, crossing out the good years” - sco** and scumbag have made so many false excuses for their behaviour and completely erased the good relationship between the Swifts and sco**. Not sure yet what the Karlie side is here but it’s here somewhere.
- in conclusion, this is about Big Machine and Karlie. As the first song Taylor wrote for the album, I think it’s clear just how incredibly multi-faceted this album is. ☕☕☕
mirrorball
- first off, we can never forget about this and this look from both girls. ✨✨
- “I’ll to show you every version of yourself tonight”, the public and the private sides to them both. this is big glass closet energy in my opinion
- “and when I break it’s in a million pieces” is so personal and heartbreaking. 2016 and Kaylor breakup vibes. I cannot elaborate at this time.
- “when no one is around my dear” = the secrecy, forbidden love motif returns and again, if she’s in a hetero relationship, what’s to hide?
- “you’ll find me on my tallest tiptoes”, Just an fyi, Karlie, a giraffe, is 6′2″, Taylor is 5′10″ -- thats a big difference. 🦒🦒🦒
-  “i know they said the end is near” = end of the relationship or the end of hiding it, either way, it’s a romantic last private moment together, swaying as the room burns down.
- “i can change everything about me to fit in” = Taylor when she was starting out was forced to create this all innocent, american-girl image of herself. She has had to hide herself to succeed, as she said in Miss Americana, she was muzzled.
- “you are not like the regulars, the masquerade revelers” = Karlie is different to everyone else, or any other ex, ‘masquerade’ implies masked or hidden figures at a party, very Love Story
- “and the called off the circus, burned the disco down” = the ‘circus’ could be the media/public, or all the illusions Taylor has cast in order to appear straight. The ‘disco’, and Taylor is the ‘mirror ball’ to her lover means that this isolated existence of just the two of them.
- “I’m still on that tightrope, I’m still trying everything” for now, she’s still closeted, she’s still trying to have the best of everything.
- “I’m still a believer, but I don’t know why” believer in everything working out perhaps, or perhaps believing it’s better if she’s in the closet and it’s only the two of them.
- “never been a natural” = she has completely created herself through years off trying to be what people want, not who she naturally is.
seven
- “picture me” implies this is retrospective of Taylor, she’s reflecting on her childhood/youth.
- “I hit my peak at Seven” could either refer to the age 7 or album 7, ‘Lover’ which many critics argued was her best work.
- “Over the creek I was too scared to jump in” = fear of jumping is something Taylor has discussed in many songs but this is different, the creek represents something she fears will drown her.
- “High in the sky with Pennsylvania under me” = obviously, Taylor was born and raised in rural PA, so this truly is a childhood memory unearthed and explored. It’s personal to Taylor, it’s her story. 👏🏼
- “Are there still beautiful things?”  Recognizing the world isn’t all daisies and rainbows
- “cross your heart, don’t tell no other” = again, secret keeping and hiding something is a big queer image, ‘cross your heart’ is a quite childish phrase but it’s adult equivalent in Taylor’s world is an NDA, ie swearing people to secrecy is something she's always known... 🔐
- “Although i can’t recall your face, I still got love for you” = this childhood love has faded with time to memories, this girl simultaneously forgotten and remembered.
- “Your braids like a pattern” = definitely about a girl (1996 rural Pennsylvania was not the kind of place where boys had braids), specific use of YOUR pronoun not ‘my’ or ‘our’ suggesting again it’s about a girl. Very obviously about a first girl crush. 🌈
- “passed down like folk songs, the love lasts so long” = firstly, reference to Neruda’s poem Taylor used in the red prologue. second, folksongs change slightly from generation to generation but the heart/melody remains the same meaning that in Taylor’s mind, the story of her first girl love has changed but it’s still the same song/story all the years later. also, clearly a reminder of the setting of the song and the album as a whole being folklore. 💛
- “your dad is always mad and that must be why” feels a lot like Love Story and forbidden love, also again rural Pennsylvania in the mid-1990s was not the most liberal place so I can imagine a lot of homophobic ideas that perforated Taylor’s childhood.
- “I think you should come live with me” is such an innocent image of someone in love and wanting to just fix things by bringing them home, it also is like a baby gay version of uhauling
- “we could be pirates” = pirates are not just a childhood image/motif but also one historically seen as gay, gangs of pirates often had ‘mateolage’ agreements that basically were like widow’s benefits. See John Swann. ☠️
- “you won’t have to cry, or hide in the closet.” = I think this one is explicitly clear but just to be sure, Taylor could’ve said “hide when he lost it, hide if you wanted, hide in the woods too” etc. Read this for a full understanding of why it such a LOUD image to use.  It is VERY DELIBERATE PEOPLE. 🌈🌈🌈
- “just like a folk song, our love will be passed on” = different from the first bridge but deliberate again. Their story, aka Taylor liking girls from a young age will always be talked about, AND their love lives in this song she wrote.
- “picture me in the weeds before I learned civility” = again, given the homophobic attitude, ‘civility’ and straightness should be read as the same so Taylor is saying when she was a child, free in the grass and herself, she wants to always be.
- “I used to scream ferociously any time I wanted” = she wasn’t muzzled as a child, she could say and be who she wanted, screaming it aloud for everyone to hear but that changed as she grew up.
- “pack your dolls and a sweater, we’ll move to India forever” = ‘dolls’ again would imply it’s two girls running away together and India is this exocitc far off place to a child, a place where they can be together without anyone knowing them or controlling them.
August
- Karlie Kloss is born in August. Karlie Kloss posted yesterday about being a Leo (an August born). August belongs to Karlie Kloss. 🦁♌
- “rust on your door” = image of something well-worn, perhaps someone who’s been here too a few times before?
- “whispers of are you sure?” = obviously there is the sexual connotation, but beyond that, what if it’s about Taylor and Karlie going public etc.
- “never have I ever before” = see above but also the game ‘never have I ever’ evokes youthfulness and sounds almost like a reminder of a fun night with friends.
- “I can see us lost in the memory” = implies they’re still together, losing themself in the memory together
- “I can see us twisted in bedsheets” = again, sexual imagery but also the intimacy of sharing a bed with the person you love after sex
- “Like a bottle of wine” = matures the song a bit, the youthfulness of earlier is now more adult. 21 is America’s drinking age, 20s were mentioned early etc. 🍷
- “Cause you were never mine” = the whole of Taylor and Karlie’s relationship, Karlie has publically been dating Josh so she was never solely Taylor’s.
- “Will you call when you’re back at school?” = Karlie attended NYU in 2015, the height of Kaylor.
- “back when we were still changing for the better” = instead of changing to adapt/survive or keep up appearances.
- “wanting was enough” = wanting Karlie without labels was enough, rather than having to go public etc. Many have said for a long time that Karlie and Taylor fought about coming out or not.
- “cancel plans in case you would call” = sounds like a very love-sick Taylor Swift thing to do. Also waiting on a lover’s call when they constantly are travelling like both Karlie and Taylor do makes sense. ☎️
- “so much for summer love” = cruel summer echo? Summer 2015 was again, peak Kaylor so this could be a specific reference to that period
- “Do you remember? Remember when I pulled up and said ‘get in the car’” another specific reference, comes up again later in Betty, clearly is something personal.
- “Back when I was still living for the hope of it all” = back as in the past when everything was happening, hope of it all being the hope they’d still end up together.
TO SUM UP PART 1:
BENEATH ALL FICTION OR MYTH IS FACT & FEELING. Taylor is no longer hiding. Yes, some of these songs are about stories and people not her but there is so much of herself and her own story layered in too. PAY ATTENTION!!! Obviously, these are just my opinions, I’m not Taylor so I cannot know exactly what these songs are about but I think, after years of analyzing her music, these images/themes and deliberate word choice are well-versed in this part of the fandom. It is entirely possible this is the beginning of Taylor’s full, public coming out journey.
I’ll be back with Part 2 tomorrow.  Stay Tuned!

Celebrate the Olympic Spirit
Sure, the Olympics aren’t a holiday, per se, but the every-four-year, or two if you count both Summer and Winter editions separately, massive international sporting events sure seems like a reason to celebrate, especially given their recent, unprecedented delay. And what better way to get into the Games mood, than by watching a sports movie?
Here are my favorite motivating, inspirational, and aspirational tales of athletic derring do…
Tumblr media
Favorite Sports Movies
The Cutting Edge (1992) - This figure skating romance was released around the 1992 Olympics, and actually name-checks that year's winter host city, Albertville, more than once.  It's not good in the traditional sense of great storytelling or athletic veracity, but I loved it so very much I saw it three times in the theater as a teen. Watching it at some point during every Winter Games is a tradition for me so, yeah, I can’t help it, I love this silly sports movie/romance, which also features a bit of holiday feels.
Wimbledon (2004) - It's a rom-com. It's a sports movie. It's a rom-com sports movie that really should be better known. Notting Hill but set at tennis' best-known event. Paul Bettany and Kristen Dunst have surprisingly great chemistry, and there's more sports-related tension than you'd think.
Friday Night Lights (2004) - A football movie for people who don't really like football. a.k.a. 🙋‍♀️. The TV series it spawned is also brilliant (”Clear Eyes, Full Hearts,” indeed), and well worth a watch, but the original movie, starring Billy Bob Thornton, is, honestly, a masterpiece. Definitely Peter Berg's best work and the original book, written by Berg's cousin, Buzz Bissinger, is a great read.
Muriel's Wedding (1994) - You mean you forgot this Australian export, which made Toni Collette a star, was a sports movie? Yep, one of my all-time favorite movies, of any genre, this absolutely brilliant, ABBA-soaked comedy is not only a girls-night go-to, but also a stealth Olympic sport classic.
Remember the Titans (2000) - OK, football isn't in the Olympics, but it sure does make for a good sports movie setting. Even if this early 1970s-set story is most definitely Disney-fied, Denzel Washington, Will Patton, Ryan Gosling and a baby Hayden Panettiere really sell this sort-of true story.
Invictus (2009)-Rugby isn't an Olympic sport, or even one most Americans know much about, but this Matt Damon-led, Clint Eastwood-directed, based-on-a-true-story tale made me care about a sport I'd only tangentially knew even existed before watching.
Hoosiers (1986)-I grew up in Indiana so, by law, I have to include this basketball classic on any "best of" sports movie lists. Also, it actually is really very good.
Rudy (1993)-Ditto the above. But, again, it's hard not to root for Sean Astin (and Jon Favreau!) in this love letter to the Fighting Irish. Plus, there’s no better scavenger hunt task or TikTok challenge than going into a bar and convincing a patron to allow you to put them on your shoulders and march around chanting, 'Rudy, Rudy, Rudy.'
Miracle (2004) - Given how much more popular the Summer Olympics are, it's weird that the Winter Games seem to get all the good movies made about them, but this Kurt Russell-led true tale is another Disney sports movie classic.
McFarland, USA (2015) - Disney, and Kevin Costner, just really know how to make a sports movie, damn it! This movie made me care about cross country for which it, too, could have carried the title Miracle.
A League of Their Own (1992)-The best baseball movie ever. Yeah, I said what I said. Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty—even Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell are making it work. 1992 was a weirdly great year for sports movies.
Moneyball (2011) - A movie about baseball, and math, and yet it's also great, I swear. In addition to all of the above, it's also a stealth Christmas movie and maybe Chris Pratt's best non-Marvel, movie role.
Creed (2015) - This surprisingly effective Rocky reboot starring Michael B Jordan as Apollo Creed's illegitimate son has spawned its own movie series which, in many ways, exceeds the original Rocky franchise.
Rocky Balboa (2006) - Maybe it's because I was a toddler when the original Rocky came out, so only saw the ever-worse sequels as a kid, but this mid-aughts return to the character for Sylvester Stallone, as both writer and actor, is a triumph.
Eddie the Eagle (2016) - That Hugh Jackman features in as many movies (spoiler alert) on this list as Kevin Costner surprised me, too. This story of the English ski jumper who became infamous for being, well, less than golden, is one of those non-Olympic triumph stories that really works. If you're going to watch one underdog-at-the-Games movie, I definitely prefer this this to the more ubiquitous Cool Runnings.
Love & Basketball (2000) - Only because I'm an anglophile is this great, chemistry-filled Sanaa Lathan and Omar Epps college basketball romance not my favorite sports-movie-meets-rom-com.
I, Tonya (2017) - Margot Robbie and a nearly unrecognizable Sebastian Stan are perfectly cast in this sarcastic, highly stylized look at the Tonya Harding scandal.
Pride (2007) - Apparently I like this swimming movie, which I think almost no one saw, better than critics, but I found this 1970s-set, Terrence Howard-Bernie Mac-starring story of inner city kids excelling in the pool emotional and entertaining.
Field of Dreams (1989) - This Kevin Costner magical realism baseball classic is often goofy and imminently tease-worthy and yet…It also works. Maybe it's no surprise that someone who loves cheesy Christmas movies as much as I do would have a soft spot for Field of Dreams.
42 (2013) - Chadwick Boseman is absolutely fantastic as legend Jackie Robinson. One of those movies that's ostensibly about baseball, but is really about so much more, except not in a pretentious way.
Race (2016) - Before Jason Sudeikis was Ted Lasso, he was famed track coach Larry Synder in this Jesse Owens biopic that is far from perfect, but still important. Plus, I honestly don't think Stephan James got enough credit for his relatively nuanced portrayal of Owens.
Goon (2011) - This overlooked gem starring Sean William Scott as a semi-pro hockey player whose main skill is his ability to take, and dole out, a beating, is surprisingly great.
Real Steel (2011) - This is a robot-boxing movie starring Hugh Jackman that is basically Rocky meets Over the Top—and yet it's actually really good. Yeah, I was surprised, too.
Forget Paris (1995) - OK, so maybe Billy Crystal playing an NBA referee doesn't really make this a sports movie, but it does begin and end (spoiler alert) at real NBA games, and I will die on the hill that this rom-com co-starring Debra Winger is wildly under-rated.
Bend it like Beckham (2002) - This girl-power sports movie has some highly questionable romantic dynamics (the coach is their love interest???) but this Parminder Nagra-Keira Knightley movie is also a heckuva sports movie and an inspiring immigrant story.
Tumblr media
Bonus Pick: The Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso is one of the best things I watched in 2020, and I'm sure of that, because I watched it twice since, just to be sure. Jason Sudekis is absolutely perfect as an American college football coach taking over a UK Premier League team. This sweet show with a heart of gold is smart, funny, and absolutely impossible not to love—even for a cynic such as myself.
More Sports Movies Worth Watching
Tumblr media
For someone not very into sports, I am, apparently, into watching movies about sports, so while not a comprehensive listing of the entire, vast genre, here are a few more suggestions I personally think are worth watching.
The Miracle Season (2018) - This movie about high school volleyball champs whose star player dies suddenly stars Helen Hunt and is a lot better than you'd think based on its tiny budget and, honestly, fairly small story. Just missed making my Top 25.
The Way Back (2020) - This Ben Affleck as a drunken high school basketball coach movie is a lot better than expected. Released just as the pandemic kicked into high gear, it was overlooked last year, but worth seeking out.
Fighting with My Family (2019) - Does it count if it's a show, not a sport? Either way (but that's why this isn't in my Top 25), this stealth Christmas movie/love letter to the WWE is a lot better than it ever needed to be thanks to some really great performances from Florence Pugh, Lena Headey and directer Stephen Merchant. Even The Rock reins it in.
Warrior (2011) - You couldn't pay me to watch an actual UFC bout, but this Tom Hardy story of (literally) battling brothers is incredibly compelling and well done.
Win Win (2011) - This movie isn't really enough about wrestling, even though its ostensibly centered around the sport, to make it into my Top 25, but it's still really good, and Amy Ryan gives an outstanding performance.
Fever Pitch (2005) - Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon star in this remake of a UK film whose ending they had to shift when the Red Sox unexpectedly won the World Series.
Fever Pitch (1997) - This Colin Firth-starring, Arsenal-centered original is much smaller, more realistic and arguably better than the big budget Barrymore-Fallon redux.
We are Marshall (2006) - A real-life sports tragedy made into a sports-movie tearjerker starring Matthew McConaughy. And my tears were very much jerked by the end.
Coach Carter (2005) - Samuel L Jackson plays real-life basketball coach Ken Carter and, because it's a Disney movie, doesn't use the F-word even once. Now that's a feat worthy of its own sports movie.
Invincible (2006) - Yes, it's Mark Wahlberg, and another based-on-a-true-story, Disney sports movie that hits all the cliches, but dang it, that works on me. It just does.
Glory Road (2006) - If you're sensing a theme with me and Disney sports movies…Well, you're not wrong. This look at the first all-Black starting lineup at the 1966 NCAA Final Four does, unfortunately, center white coach Don Haskins, played by Josh Lucas (though I always mis-remember it as Josh Charles), making the important story it tells less than what it should be, but it still mostly works.
Million Dollar Arm (2014) - Admittedly one of the lesser Disney sports movie entries, and another that centers a white guy in a film mostly about people of color (not a great look), this Jon Hamm movie about a scout seeking an Indian cricket star who can make it in the Major Leagues still mostly worked for me.
The Mighty Ducks (1992) - One of the few movies on this list aimed directly at kids, this beloved peewee hockey saga actually is cute, and mostly does hold up.
Cool Runnings (1993) - Kind of shocked this movie that is part White Savior-movie and part-wacky kids movie essentially making fun of a real group of athletes of color came out in 1993 and not 1973, but the earnest charm of John Candy and a general Disney gloss keep this from being totally unwatchable and mostly just mildly, rather than extremely, offensive. Not really recommending, but feels like it belongs on an Olympic movie list.
Nadia (1984) - This made-for-TV, mostly true biopic, starring Talia Balsam as Nadia Comaneci, was a Disney Channel staple in that network’s early days.
Munich (2005) - It's a movie with the Olympics very much at its heart—namely the 1972 Israeli athlete hostage tragedy—that isn't really about the Olympics at all, but this Steven Spielberg-directed movie about national revenge is compelling, if problematic if you think about it for too long.
American Anthem (1986) - Is this Mitch Gaylord-Mrs. Wayne Gretzky (a.k.a Janet Jones) starring movie good, realistic and/or well-written? No, no and none of the above. But did I still watch it 8,000 times as a kid on HBO? Yes. Yes, I did.
Men with Brooms (2002) - Once, on a business trip to Canada, my husband was stuck in a hotel that only got three channels, and one of them always seemed to be showing curling, which actually got him weirdly into this obscure sport. This movie wasn't quite as fun as I hoped, but it's still a mostly charming, if slight, Canadian classic.
Unbroken (2014) - The harrowing and incredible real-life story of Louis Zamperini deserved better than this Angelina Jolie-directed movie delivered, but it's still a serviceable version of a worthy tale.
Chariots of Fire (1981) - I remember being bored out of my mind by this movie trying to watch this movie on cable as a kid, but no denying that, if nothing else, the score is iconic and indelibly linked to sports-movie magic.
Without Limits (1998) - Jared Leto’s Prefontaine beat this one to the theaters, but this Billy Crudup-starring film is the better of the two movies about the life of running pioneer Steve Prefontaine. There’s also a 1995 documentary, Fire on the Track: The Steve Prefontaine Story.
Personal Best (1982) - Mariel Hemingway’s story of ambition at odds with love, is a sports and LGTBQ+ classic.
Olympic Dreams (2019) - The story of how this small, meandering movie was made during the 2018 Winter Games is, unfortunately, more interesting than the movie itself, but there is some charm in watching Nick Kroll as an Olympic dentist making his way through the real Village, while interacting with real athletes.
Foxcatcher (2015) - This excellently-acted story is more true crime than sports inspiration, but if you're seeking a look at the dark side of the Games—and don’t want to turn on a doc like Athlete A—this is very dark tale indeed.
Seabiscuit (2003) - Every great athlete deserves to have their story told.
Any Given Sunday (1999) - Oliver Stone and Al Pacino take on pro Football. 'Nuff said.
The Replacements (2000) - I mean, the movie isn't amazing, but Keanu Reeves is super charming and Gene Hackman is always worth a watch.
The Program (1993) - Another bit of a dark-side-of-football take, worth it if only for the fantastic cast: James Caan, Halle Berry, Omar Eps, Joey Lauren Adams.
Everbody’s All-American (1988) - Not a movie I particularly love, but this Dennis Quaid-Jessica Lange football story that spans decades has always stuck in my memory.
Bull Durham (1988) - Just let Kevin Costner play actual baseball already.

Tyler, The Creator Album Review: Call Me If You Get Lost
Tumblr media
(Columbia)
BY JORDAN MAINZER
The transformation of Tyler, The Creator from skilled, but transgressive shock jock to soulful, sincere auteur was one of the more remarkable music storylines of the 2010s. Flower Boy and IGOR showed a side of the rapper that you knew was always there but which he was perhaps hesitant to show, the sensitive, heartsick person who really just wants to love and be loved. His latest studio album, Call Me If You Get Lost, continues on the path of the previous two, but it’s also the most wholly self-aware album Tyler’s made to date. On a record that acts as an homage to other early 2000s DJ Drama-hosted mixtapes that influenced him just as much as N.E.R.D. and Eminem did, Tyler’s honest about his past self and his relationship with music, others, and his surroundings. He addresses some of his past ills. The character he inhabits, Tyler Baudelaire, a reference to French poet Charles Baudelaire, is sophisticated and worldly like its inspiration but can’t seem to find himself in a good relationship; Tyler has Tweeted it’s his most personal album yet, suggesting Tyler Baudelaire is not even really a character.
Whether he’s flowing in his trademark baritone or pitch-shifting to the higher end of the vocal spectrum, bragging about his wealth or vulnerably revealing an unrequited crush, Tyler’s being himself. You’ve heard this version before, and he goes back and forth throughout especially the first half of Call Me, sharing anecdotes about his social life on upbeat piano bounce “CORSO” and flashing his bravado on the warped trap of “LEMONHEAD”. On the Gravediggaz-sampling “LUMBERJACK”, he’s proud of his success: “Rolls-Royce pull up, Black boy hop out,” he raps, before expertly ad-libbing the white establishment reaction of “Man, what the fuck?” It’s that quintessential Tyler sense of humor, again without the cringe of some of his earliest material.
By the middle of the album, though, Tyler dips his toes into reflective confessionals. “MASSA” details various aspects of his life, from his early breakthroughs to “Yonkers” dropping while his mother was in a shelter to having the financial ability to get her out. The song’s title--another word for “master,” as in “slave master”--is provocative, but Tyler likens the subject to a different struggle, being free with sexuality. “Everyone I ever loved had to be loved in the shadows,” he raps. His delivery grows increasingly intense in the final verse, as he’s simultaneously mad at and affected by his doubters. On the flipside, money spending anthem “RUNITUP” looks back on the “social outcast” status that preceded the initial forming of Odd Future, wherein his confidence and originality allowed him to stay true and get where he is. It’s a risky one-two punch, since Tyler was known to use homophobic lyrics, but he’s taking the good parts of his previous selves and combining it with his current perspective. “MANIFESTO”’s where he fully dives into his controversies, from protesters outside his shows to the gross things he said to Selena Gomez on Twitter, admitting it was “back when I was tryna fuck Bieber,” Gomez’s partner at the time. Funny enough, on the same song he points out the hypocrisy of social media addicts who were criticizing him and other rappers for not explicitly saying “Black Lives Matter” on Twitter during the George Floyd protests despite him showing up at protests and donating money. His message? He’s changed, and perhaps grown, and is still growing and learning, but it’s all the same person. It’s what you get with Tyler.
Eventually, after lovers rock-sampling R&B love jams (“SWEET/I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE”), family pride not-quite-diss tracks (“MOMMA TALK”, “RISE”), and a radio ready banger (the Lil Uzi Vert and Pharrell Williams-featuring mammoth “JUGGERNAUT”), there’s the album’s 8-minute climax “WILSHIRE”, a slow-rolling story of the relationship hinted at throughout Call Me. Significantly, it sees Tyler once again pondering the idea of the public eye. At first, he details the high of showing the good life to someone he’s infatuated with, imagery chock full of luxury and warmth (“Dirtyin’ my bakin’ pots, tennis at my mama’s spot”; “Parks playin’ chess games, givin’ wigs pet names”). It’s not entirely clear why the relationship ends, but Tyler eventually admits, “I’m mad private with this side of my life ‘cause people are weirdos / I just try to keep anyone I care about in the shadows.” It’s the ultimate full-circle from the line on “MASSA”, a brilliant illustration of a society that brings you back to the subdued gloom for one reason or another. Unflinchingly honest, Tyler wants you to call him if you get lost, mostly because lost is where he’s already found himself.

⟨ ZETHPHAN SMITH-GNEIST. CIS MALE. HE/HIM. ⟩ though the mist might prevent some from seeing it, LEVI HARRIS is actually a descendent of A P O L L O. it’s still a question of whether or not the TWENTY-THREE year old AUDIO PRODUCTION MAJOR from MANCHESTER, UK has taken after their godly parent completely, but the demigod is still known to be quite KIND-HEARTED & CHAOTIC.
hi hi !! my name is sunny, and this is ur local Dumb of Ass levi harris . i’m so happy to be back here with y’all omg.............
s  t  a  t  i  s  t  i  c  s
full  name ,  nicknames  :  levi william harris  ,  harris,   evie
age  ,  dob  ,  zodiac :  twenty -  three  , july 4  ,  cancer
hometown  :  manchester, england
gender  ,  pronouns :  cismale  , he / him
orientation  :  bisexual , demiromantic
height :  6′3″
occupation  :  student / aspiring musician / record store clerk

b  a  c  k  g  r  o  u  n  d
tw: death ment.
born in manchester, england to victor and clara harris, it was always obvious that levi had a tough act to follow. his older brother, elijah, was the brains of the two. perfect grades, a wide roster of extracurriculars, and he was even nice.
literally, there was no reason to hate this guy.
levi, on the other hand, was creative. his schoolwork wasn’t stellar, but where he lacked in logic, he made up for in making people laugh and writing half-way decent songs on his guitar or piano.
it wasn’t that levi minded being in his brother’s shadow, he just couldn’t help but feel hurt whenever they’d sit at the dinner table together and the only topic of discussion would be eli this or eli that. all that being said, he got along better with his brothers than he ever did with his parents.
elijah’s death was sudden and tragic. he was twenty-four when he passed, levi being twelve. levi doesn’t like talking about it much, and it’s arguably one of the few things he’s closed off about
finding out that he was born out of wedlock didn’t do much to make things easier, either. he’d first met apollo after his brother’s funeral, which was terrible timing, in his mind. it practically tore his parents apart, having divorced only two years after the news hit.
the fallout with his family was a given to him. along with his brother’s death and his real father’s identity, it was as if a bright spotlight was suddenly shone on his life, and his parents were right there to scrutinize.... everything about him.
needless to say, he left the minute he was able to.
was eonia the plan ?? no, california was the plan, where he wanted to persue his career in music. however, to appease his mother and keep things ‘realistic’ for his future, he decided to go to school, where he’s currently studying audio production.
he works on his own music on the side when he doesn’t have a shift at fireside records. he’s also the president of the songwriting club & a member of the drama club !!
p  e  r  s  o  n  a  l  i  t  y
as stated before, he’s... dumb of ass
really nice, really kind, but loud and chaotic type of beat . the type to go hang out on the roof of literally any building by himself but also loves a good social gathering
not gonna lie, tough to get his attention romantically . u could flirt with him and he’ll chalk it up to u being nice . considers everyone a Friend
english boi innit, if u mock his accent it will upset him, but he just brushes it off bc he rlly thinks his feelings don’t matter when it comes to ‘small stuff’
a good friend !! goes with the flow, but will defend the people he cares about in a heartbeat
talks w his hands . gestures wildly
CANNOT and WILL NOT sit still for gods sake . he gets so distracted so easily

genuine question. what the heck happens with FNAF after 4? what order are we supposed to play the games in/read the spinoffs for after that? is there anyone who makes lore summaries for the series that isn't Mattison Pattison?
You came to the right man. Explanation below
Order
G: 1, 2, 3, 4
B: The Silver Eyes, The Twisted Ones
G: Sister Location, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Sim, Ultimate Custom Night, HELP WANTED, then the AR one I haven’t played or seen yet.
Alright, so. Scott Cawthon has said before that the first 4 games are kinda meant to be their own story, with the other tie in stuff coming in as another whole thing. The first books, The Silver Eyes and Twisted Ones and the other one, are like... a canon AU, with the first 2 books sticking very closely to the first 4 games. Same general events, just... shifted around a bit. Some of the stuff in it shows up in later games and here’s the parts that matter
1.) The Killer, the Purple Guy, has a name now. His name is William Afton. He’s a mess and I love him. Used to be a kinda jolly chunky guy who co-owned Freddy’s, killed kids, almost got found out but got away with it, comes back into town years later with a fake identity looking all skin and bones to... be a security guard at a mall, and I guess go into Freddy’s every few nights to just taunt the animatronics? He does a funny bunny dance. Also he’s obsessed with his co-owner, and wrote rambling diaries about him. Also he killed that co-owner’s daughter but shhhhhhhhhhhhhh
2. That Co-Owner, Henry. He’s... sad. His daughter is dead and he’s sad. Book Henry does some real weird stuff about it in book land, but, that doesn’t matter. Just know, Henry is Really Sad, doesn’t like that Will killed his daughter and also 5 other kids, and is not feeling the best right now.
3. Henry’s daughter, Charlotte, or Charlie! I... like her book version. But I’m not even touching that stuff and how she’s a character while being killed when she was, like, 3. Game canon, she’s dead puppet kid, that’s all that matters.
4. The Nightmares from 4 were just weird, kinda-hallucinations. If the kid had shot them with Gun it’d have been fine. The twisted ones are just alternate nightmare animatronics and they follow the Gun Rule so I assume that applies too.
5. If you know anything about Book Michael, ANYTHING at ALL, just forget it. There’s too many Michael’s and Mikes in this series, we don’t need the dead 7 year old getting mixed up in there.
So, that’s the two books that matter, and the one that doesn’t, boiled down to their essentials. Onto the games.
Sister location is next. It’s a stunning game, if you at all feel like you’d enjoy watching it, do it! But, the PLOT!
William Afton killed a kid Remotely with Robot, but accidentally killed his daughter Elizabeth! Oops! Years later, his son, Michael Afton, goes down to the storage area that the robots that his dead kid sister is possessing are being housed and tries to put her spirit back together... somehow, I think.
Anyways, Lizzy is smart, and puts herself back together by mashing all the animatronics together into a spaghetti thing called Ennard, but doesn’t have the best eyesight as an animatronic.
So, she mistakes Michael, her brother, for her Murder Dad, and scoops out his internal organs, crawls inside his boy, and walks out of the facility wearing her brother’s corpse like a skin suit. So, Ennard’s existence is an “innard” pun.
At some point, corpse rots, Lizzy and Animatronic Co vomit themselves out of his body and into a sewer to become a Sewer Spaghetti Animatronic. Michael picks up his Boneless Body and walks home, Somehow Still Present In His Rotting Corpse, and gets so mad at his dad over it that he spends 5 nights at each Freddy’s trying to hunt his dad down and chew him a new one for Everything He’s Done.
Elizabeth gets kicked out of Body Spaghetti, builds herself a better Baby animatronic, and also becomes a punk rock goth teen. Michael, meanwhile, finds his dad at Fazbear’s Fright from 3 and torches the place to kill him, but that sadly doesn’t work. Michael doesn’t know that though, so thinking he should get a nice, relaxing reward for a job well done, invests all his Corpse Money into staring a Freddy’s franchise of his own.
Enter, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Sim. Also idk if I mentioned it yet but this series takes place in Utah (at least according to book land), but the Aftons are all very posh british accent wise, and you need to know that.
So, LONG STORY SHORT. Henry, that co-owner from the original Freddy’s in the books that never showed up in a game before? He’s here now. Basically, Henry put up ads for making a new Freddy’s, knowing Michael would be the only person reckless/dumb/brave/indifferent enough to sign up, and simulated a fake pizzeria filled with fake children, to attract all the remaining animatronics (who want to really murder those fake kids) to it, so Henry Could Finally Finish This, for once and for all.
As Michael designs his dream pizzeria from his little office in the vents, Baby, Spaghetti Ennard that is now 100% Funtime Freddy (aka best freddy) Controlled, Springtrap (now Feral and called Scraptrap), and this Cool New Guy Called Lefty show up to much on those kids! Lefty is... well, it’s Henry forcing the puppet, his daughter, into a Beartrap. A Bear Suit trap. So, animatronic-inception.
Once they all get there, if you learn all the secrets from the creepy attractions, Henry decides to call the series quits, and sets literally everyone, you included, on fire. Also himself, he was in the vents too. He tells Will to go to hell, then lets you all peace out in the flames together, like One Big Happy Afton Family + the man your dad was obsessed with for years and his kid + a screaming bear
And then Ultimate Custom Night. it’s just William Afton in hell. He’s not like, alive or anything. No. He’s just dead, in hell, and suffering.  There’s not that much plot tbh. It’s just hell. It’s a nice hell.
The Vr game, Help wanted, is... i really don’t know what the whole plot consensus is on this one yet? You Play Game, but Uh Oh, William Afton cursed a floppy disk and now he’s in game in fursona ai form trying to take over your mind so he can do more murder. He succeeds with one lady called Vanny, and like, idk much from there. I like the art of him acting as like, a sleepover-delirious best friend to Vanny though. Also Vanny is also a furry. Her fursona is white rabbit.
I have to stop it there because i can and will ramble about this for forever. If you want I can ramble for longer if need be. Let me know if the need is be.

RWBY V8E4 LiveThoughts
And were back at it again, this week with turkey and Italian preserved sausage as a snack! Lets see what RT has for us this week.
Oh, 20 minutes. Are they normally this long?
Oh, wait, the openings almost 2 minutes long. Thats more like it.
And now to Robyn and Qrow. Seems Robyns actually liking Qrow a little bit now.
Guess the cells aren’t secured if a fly got into Schnee’s. This a “Fly on Mike Pence’s face” reference?
Qrow sounds more growly again. Did he get smacked back two seasons by Clover dying?
If by “darkness” you mean “Tyrian” then, yes. Also dude, its Clover. He was shit anyway. All the Aces are shit. Dont feel too bad about him.
And he’s got a point too. If Clover had thought with his head instead of his dick (yes, Im sure they were gonna fuck, Fair Games totally a thing), he probably wouldnt be dead now, and Tyrian would be the one with the sword through his chest.
But of course this is RWBY and V7/8 so things cant go their ways.
Ouch. Deep thoughts of Qrow. And some interesting stuff from Robyn too. I still think I’d prefer hopeandharmonizing’s Briar, though.
Marrows glare gives me life. Hare’s just a moron right now though, but thats no real surprise. She’s immature emotionally.  Honestly, shes...kind of like a less bad version of our current President. Always has to be the best at everything, fastest, leader, whatever.
Thats probably why this is grating on her so much. Even though shes TECHNICALLY the Ace’s leader now (I think? Seemed like she was Clovers lieutenant, so by rate of succession she’s in command now)
A glance at the little floating control pad... “Clerance access only”. Okay, that...seems weird. Shouldnt it say something like authorized personell only? Maybe it means access by clerance only or something.
Then Robyn’s name, and then process ID 4591-27. No idea what thats useful for but its there.
Also Marrow seems to be the only competent member of the Aces rn.
Ah now we get to see some of the hills around Atlas. For those of you who have seen my headcanons on the Hunter-Killers and their base of operations, Fortress Academy, its out in these hills somewhere.
The music sounds like a boss fight.
The screen on Ren’s hoverbike reads “HVB Rhino” and “HD5800″ I can only assume HVB stands for “hoverbike” and Rhino must be its name, like how the dropships are Mantas. No clue what the number is.
Also apparently the cold in Solitas is so bad it corrupts machinery?
Ahh, good, some action. Lets see what we get now. Ohh, teamwork. And again, signs that aura allows you to move faster and farther than a normal human
Heh, it really is like a boss fight, like the chase scene at the end of the first Viking level in For Honor.
Oh, and it can call for reenforcements literally out of nowhere? Or is the whole tundra of Solitas just CRAWLING with Grimm?
Yes, yes it did just call for backup, Yang. Maybe these are all forward scouts and ambush units from the Grimmstorm. They did say its the biggest...
Another banger from Casey Lee Williams...
What the hell happened in Solitas to cause this geography? Seriously, its a line of bridges over a gap in two cliffs...that cant be natrual, not that equal in distance.
Man, those bikes didnt even last half an episode...I guess thats fair, they are facing obsurd odds. Or maybe they just want Yang to be the only one with a bike.
And there goes the dropwall. Woops.
Also you can just kinda see it but they bounce off the rock and thats why they slow down. Useful.
Also this part with them falling off the edge reminds me of the ending cutscene of Halo 4s Forerunner level, where Chief flies out of a portal and almost goes sailing off a cliff in a Ghost.  Except here, the bike stays on the land and THEY go off the cliff.
I paused at just the right time cause YANGS FACE XD
Holy shit what are Ren’s weapons cables MADE OF? The one atop him is holding him AND the weight of his two teammates. And the one below has both Jaune and Yang. No sign of slippage or breackage at all.
Ahhh there’s the whaleship (Monstra? Fuck it Im gonna keep calling it the whaleship). So yeah my headcanon now is the mountain its right next too is Menachite, where Fortress is.
Oh hey back to the Schnee manor of all things! Does...this mean military invasion of the Schnee grounds. Hey Whitley. Lesbians are here.
Someone make a video cut of Weiss banging on the door to the “Knock knock open up the door its real!” part of that one song.
Hehehehhe. Nice Weiss.
Also convenient about the house staff. Good thing RT doesnt need to animate them or Willow now...
I hope the staff took some of the silverware and some paintings on the way out.
Why is MAY the one carrying Nora.
Ah so now they’re stuck out there with no cell service. Hehe.
Ah okay so the cold in Solitas DOES eat aura. Good, my headcanon still kind of stands.
I wonder, does wearing proper cold weather clothing (like bundled up stuff) help? Or does it cut right through...
Why is JAUNE the one hauling the bike? Isnt Yang the strongest? Or maybe they take turns.
Ahhh inter-team talking. Also, outpost. Hmm. Atlas one? Overrun if I had to guess. Unless he saw Fortress. Which I doubt.
I do love the circling shot here, with the light on Yang’s hair and the shadows on Ren. Its...really artistic and emotional. GREAT WORK RT.
Rens got points. And hes saying stuff I myself have been saying for ages, which is good. I wonder why this is how Ren is now...working with the Ace Ops? Being afraid of loosing Nora? No one tell him what happened last episode.
Also, Jaune’s hair seems to have gotten less crazy in recent episodes. It looks less like a banana and more like a close tactical cut.
Yangs got a point.
Ahhh and now we get to see the inside of the whale.
SALEM FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP SHOWING THE FUCK OFF. SERIOUSLY. WE GET IT.
...this is gonna be a really criingy torture section, isnt it.
Someones gonna take that “hound didnt break you” line in the WRONG direction
It is amusing the only thing holding Oscar down is the Hound actually.
Ah so they’re still searching the remains of Beacon.
Also I like how Salem calls them “her forces” as if its anything but a random bunch of expendable monsters. Like, bruh, you cant search anything with THAT.
Ignoring the boring chat between these two, notice how the Hound’s shoulder literally flexes and shifts when Salem touched it. I dont think this thing is solid at all aside from the head and the bone claws...the whole thing is just amorphous Grimm material that can adapt to whatever situation it requires. A specialist unit. A...Hunter hunter.
Yo what the fuck was that. Magic? Huh. Did we actually SEE magic for once in the show? Only took us 8 FUCKING SEASONS...
Doesnt seem to be anything but an energy blast/pain never firing though. I assume his auras still gone, cause its completely singed his shirt, but it didnt do much else.
...Im not impressed.
She really needs to stop touching his face, its creeping me out.
HAHA SHE CANT DO IT HERSELF SHE HAS TO RELY ON HAZEL BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF HIM. I think we know where she stands now, doesnt she...say what you will about her letting Hazel have his vengeance (which is very valid, even he admits hit), but me? I think she A) cant actually beat up on Ozma herself because she still cares and B) shes almost out of magic too. Its weakened as the Gods have been gone and shes been forced to rely on the Grimm and on pawns. Basically, once she and Oz are both gone? That’s it for magic. Remnant will belong to the Grimm...and to technology.
At which point without Oz around to hold them back Atlas is going to go fucking BONKERS and basically ensure the Grimm get pushed back into a corner and then finally permenantly STAMPED OUT.
More Whale insides. Seems like most of its empty grandious spaces. Or possibly muscle? Hard to tell. Either way theres a lot of open air in there...with tight corridors. If you fired a thermobaric warehead into one of the chambers the resulting blastc could possibly blow the doors off and send a raging fireball through the entire thing...Hmm. Filing that away for later.
NEO IS SO SHORT ITS FUNNY TO ME. I know its just positioning BUT SHE LOOKS EVEN SHORTER IN THIS SHOT THAN USUAL.
More note on the Hound; the “flesh” around its right shoulder spike actually sinks down when it stops moving. Its neck shifts and moves too, like the material isnt solid, but recirculating.
I also dont see any eyes. And it looks like it has some kind of...forehead mouth? Def looks like teeth down the ridge of its spine.
Oh boy yeah that...whole thing is basically melting in on itself.
I wont lie; hearing Cinder get berated by CORTANA (and yes, I still hear Cortana in Salem, espeically now that the two characters are kind of one and the same, both megalomaniacal leaders of giant armies, bar the fact that one of them is about a TRILLION times more dangerous than the other because one of them has access to Guardian Custodies and the other one is...well kind of lame and has to have beefy dudes beat up on small children etc) is pleasing to me.
Get fucked, Cinder.
And THERE is Cortana again too.
Neo Marry Popins’s Ya’lling is fucking CUTE. And I love her little smirk.
Wait the whale’s that close?
..oh my...hold on.
...thats it. THATS ATLAS’S AIR FLEET!?!
12 AIRSHIPS? 12? EXCUSE ME!?
ARE YOU LEGITAMETLY TELLING ME THE BIGGEST MILITARY ON REMNANT HAS FEWER AIRSHIPS THAN THE SMALLEST NAVY ON EARTH HAS FRIGATES? YOUR FUCKING KIDDING ME RIGHT? THERE HAS TO BE MORE SOMEWHERE. THIS IS A JOKE, A STRAIGHT UP FUCKING JOKE.
...
No, thats...thats it. Thats Atlas’s airfleet. 12 tiny vessels. I swear it was bigger last season...
...HA! HAHA! HA! Oh, Ironwood, and Atlas as a whole...you deserve everything your about to get. I hope you die SCREAMING, and that when your bodies fall bleeding and shattered to Mantle, the people down there will realize that, no. You cant just assume Hunters will do all the work for you
THIS IS REMNANT. ITS KILL OR BE KILLED. YOU EITHER MAKE A FORCE POWERFUL ENOUGH THAT THE GRIMM RUN FROM YOU  OR YOU DIE INSTEAD. ATLAS FAILED. NOW THEY SUFFER.
Emerald stop simpin.
Also that is...the SHITTEST outpost...I have ever seen in my life. My overall thought process of Atlas is...sinking even LOWER than before.
Though it seems more like a waystation. Bed, Dust, some dudes coat on it. Dead heater. Its probably a rest spot for Specialists out in the tundra.
Ren does the emo sit. Lol. Yang even says it. Brood himself to death.
Alright whats this now...something forcing itself out of the tundra?
And thats it for today! Cool ass concept art at the end there too.

Embodying Black Joy
Before Black History Month 2021 comes to an end, I want to take this moment to reflect on how significant this time truly is. Although my belief is that Black History and culture should be celebrated throughout all months of the year;  for now, I do believe it is important that we continue to utilize this time to acknowledge the historical feat against monumental odds that Black people have been able to achieve. It is the responsibility of the current and future generations to take what we have learned and keep the momentum going. It is also necessary for us to utilize our talents and gifts to uplift those around us.
As a natural caregiver, I  nourish the people around me by creating and sustaining a community of care, joy & connection. Carnival Spice has allowed me to complete much of this work and I am truly grateful for that. Typically in February months I see an increase in Carnival Spice bookings due to Black History Month. Our most popular offering during this time is our family-friendly cultural presentations that highlight Black culture using dance, fitness and story telling in such a unique way.
I feel so full-filled when leading these presentations - especially when it is for our school-aged groups. Seeing kids of all ages so excited to learn and embrace the richness of Afro-Caribbean culture really motivates me to keep going. I particularly appreciate how engaged they are in the experience and the high vibrations they exude. Though all of our presentations were virtual this year, you could still feel their energy and joy through the screen.
"The most radical and revolutionary thing we can do for ourselves is to connect to joy and to allow ourselves to feel. That is how show up positively in the world and complete dissolve ancestral trauma."  -- Devi Brown
Joy, that deep-rooted inner feeling that inspires that outward expression of happiness... But Black joy goes far beyond that. Black people have contributed so much to this world yet sadly the way we as a people have been treated does not reflect that. Racism, social injustice, and trauma runs rampant plus there isn't enough spaces that allow for healing. Thankfully, joy is a form of healing; and while society often condemns Black people for being "too loud", "too angry" or "too much", revelling in joy is an act of resistance too.
Engaging in Black joy sends a message to your mind and spirit that you are worthy, you are important, and you are loved. We should make a habit of taking inspired action to bring joy into our lives. I put together a few light-hearted lists for you that may help you engage in Black joy daily:
The Beauty of Affirmations
I believe the universe has the power to align us with people, things and experiences that match our vibrations. It is important for us to keep our vibrations high to increase the opportunity of positive attraction. Practicing the act of repeating and affirmations (positive statements) is a powerful way to strengthen our mindset by helping us believe in the potential of an action we desire to manifest.
I encourage you to write out an affirmation related to joy and set it as a as a daily alarm on your phone. When the alarm goes off repeat the statement out loud and be present in the moment and positive energy.
Listen To Music
Music is a powerful tool that unlocks joy. From the beat, to the lyrics, to the melody certain parts of songs just know how to hit our soul. I created a playlist with a mix of feel good songs from different eras and genres - take what you'd like:
Can’t Take My Joy by Terri Lyons
My Dream by Nesbeth
Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See by Busta Rhymes
The Anthem by  Todd Dehaney
Blessed by Wizkid and Damien Marley
Beat of Life by Sarz ft. Wizkid
Jerusalema by Master KG ft. Burna Boy
Skip To My Lou by Ding Dong, Serani & Biggy
Just Dance - Wacky Dip by Ding Dong feat. Voicemail
Go Crazy by Chris Brown
High Life by Machel Montano
Full of Vibes by Voice &  Marge Blackman
Lose Control by Missy Elliot - ft. Fat Man Scoop
Happy by Pharell Williams
Dance Heals
Dance truly does heals and it is such a positive way to embody Black joy. Here are some of my favourite dance moves from the African Caribbean Diaspora - taken from popular genres such as afrobeat, soca, dancehall and hip - hop.
Shaku Shaku (Nigeria)
"Although the dance is credited to Olamide, the truth is that he is not the inventor of the dance. But he played the major role in the crossing over of the dance to the mainstream media. The dance originated in the streets. According to DJ Real, Shaku Shaku name is for street guys, and the dance was named after their particular style of dances when they are hanging out" - Source. The move involves crossing one arm over the other and bringing that same arm toward the ear as if you are making a phone call.
Palance (Trinidad)
In 2010, the world was introduced to the song and dance that is palance. The song by JW and Blaze ’s popularity was established when it took the "Road March" title at Trinidad’s Carnival that year where it was played along the parade’s judging route 417 times. The move involves jumping side to side on one foot at a time while waving yuh flaggg. Back then, soca song's weren't known for having dances - so palance truly broke the mold. We have even seen Beyonce and Justin Trudeau do it.
Krazy Hype (Jamaica)
This mid school dancehall move will always be one of my favourites. It was created in 2003 by choreographer Crazy Hype from the The MOB Dance Group to Elephant Man hit song of the same name. The move involves hopping from side to side but landing on your heels.
Harlem Shake (Us)
The dance was created by Harlem resident Al. B. in 1981. However, in 2001 the dance resurfaced and was renamed when it featured heavily in G.Dep’s music video for the song "Let's Get It". When you hear this song one can't help but get to shakin'.

Soul (2020)
Critics Consensus: A film as beautiful to contemplate as it is to behold, Soul proves Pixar's power to deliver outstanding all-ages entertainment remains undimmed.
Synopsis: A music teacher who dreams of performing jazz live finally gets his chance, only he travels to another realm to help someone find their passion, he soon discovers what it means to have soul.
Soul Food (1997)
Critics Consensus: Much like the titular cuisine, Soul Food blends a series of savoury ingredients to offer warm, generous helpings of nourishment and comfort.
Synopsis: This hit domestic comedy-drama concerned the fortunes of an extended African-American family recalled through the eyes of young narrator Ahmad Hammond.
Love and Basketball (2000)
Critics Consensus: Confident directing and acting deliver an insightful look at young athletes.
Synopsis: A young African-American couple navigates the tricky paths of romance and athletics in this drama. Over the years, the two lead characters begin to fall for each other, but their separate paths to basketball stardom threaten to pull them apart.
Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit (1993)
Critics Consensus: Sister Act is off-key in this reprise, fatally shifting the spotlight from Whoopi Goldberg to a less compelling ensemble of pupils and trading its predecessor's sharp comedy for unconvincing sentiment.
Synopsis: In the sequel to the hit comedy Sister Act, Whoopie Goldberg reprises her role of Deloris Van Cartier, a Las Performer. It appears Deloris is needed in her nun guise as Sister Mary Clarence to help teach music to teens at a troubled school in hopes of keeping the facility from closing at the hands of Mr. Crisp (James Coburn), a callous administrator.

http://www.zeldainformer.com/the_entirely_valid_completely_believable_theory_of_a_tetraforce/
In Zelda there is a theory called the tetraforce theory.
The triforce is made up of three yellow triangles. The three triangles represent wisdom, power, and courage. The Hylian Shield in Ocarina of Time, however, has a fourth triangle below the triforce symbol. THe shield is illustrated above. It was hypothesized that this fourth triangle was the fourth force in the triforce. We see, thereby, the quaternity principal at play. The three is becoming four, or at least there is a different fourth component that does not seem to belong.
The number four is significant in Zelda. The prominence of the number four in Zelda leads “tetraforce conspirators” to believe that there is a fourth part of the triforce.
Some examples of four in Zelda are

Quadrant
The Assassin's Creed poster shows the assasin in cruciform.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4X
The term "4X" originates from a 1993 preview of Master of Orion in Computer Gaming World by Alan Emrich, in which he rated the game "XXXX" as a pun on the XXX rating for pornography. The four Xs were an abbreviation for "EXplore, EXpand, EXploit and EXterminate".[1]
Explore means players send scouts across a map to reveal surrounding territories.
Exploit means players gather and use resources in areas they control, and improve the efficiency of that usage.
Expand means players claim new territory by creating new settlements, or sometimes by extending the influence of existing settlements.
Exterminate means attacking and eliminating rival players. Since in some games all territory is eventually claimed, eliminating a rival's presence may be the only way to achieve further expansion.
