i think this was funnier in my head.
#puppy draws#yo-kai watch#katie forester#jibanyan#whisper#whisper ykw#usapyon#hailey anne thomas#as a diagnosed autistic person i can confirm that the autism evaluation results#just being a picture of the autism creature with text saying you have the tism is accurate#i don't even remember how this idea came to me i think i was just overly tired this morning and then this happened#also ignore the fact that i refuse to accept nate as being canon protagonist katie is like way better sorry besties <3#that's like 80% a joke. every main yo-kai watch character is my blorbo and nate is included in that#i just also prefer katie. playing 3 and rewatching the anime + reading the manga did endear me to nate more though#i like how he's average but also totally bisexual. no i will not elaborate#why do my tags always get so derailed. uhhhh back to autism. hailey is so fucking autistic ngl#there's like at least five different instances in 3 of her just completely failing to read the room#she's totally hyperfixated on sailor cuties and next harmeowny#she has adhd vibes too i think but. the tism is very strong#i can't decide my favorite part of this between the “yippee!! you have the tism” image and jibanyan asking what autism is#he doesn't know because he has autism by default through being a cat he didn't need a diagnosis#i feel like all of them are autistic tbh but that's probably just me projecting. i totally gave katie autism in the rewrite though#i wasn't even trying to i just don't know what neurotypicals are like because i got that autistic rizz. and adhd rizz. mostly the adhd#i am definitely also autistic but i think my adhd effects me a lot more in day-to-day life#since i usually just interact with my moms who know i'm autistic and are also both neurodivergent#and people online. most of who are autistic because it's mostly on tumblr and this is the autism website#yo-kai watch more like yo-gay watchtism amirite-#oh also very amused by hailey just poofing into existence in the second picture. as you do

Update on my "none of friends like MASH" plight:
friend has been found. friend is very nice. Talking to friend led to this silly interaction between Hawkeye and One Unnamed Character, for which you will have no context.
"…I can't say I'm glad you're Hawkeye, but at least you're not Trapper."
"why's that?"
"He's the straight one I think"
trapper has "it's not gay to kiss the homies goodnight" energy to me. like, he does gay stuff, but he doesn't think it's gay, because it's just pallin' around with the guys, and besides, he's not gay, obviously, so why would he do gay stuff, amirite?

Lost S1 Rewatch after 20 years - scattered thoughts
Charlie is creepy as fuck. He's extremely volatile and while I understand that he's going through recovery and that's certainly tough on anybody, let alone a plane-crush survivor stranded on a crazy island, I still read his behavior towards Claire and, to a lesser extent, Hurley, kinda creepy and not-cool weird.
Justice for Shannon. Let's give her credit for impromptu translating from French into English while everybody gives her shit because she's not sure whether she can do it or not and doesn't want to mess up. Sorry if she's just a normie human being and not a highly-trained torturer or a crafty confidence man. Yeah, we should apologize to her.
Not looking for Claire was a dick move. The girl is about to give birth in 1-2 weeks, gets abducted by a someone who infiltrated the survivors, tried to murder Charlie and is now possibly hiding with Claire in the jungle... for almost a week? And people be like: well, I guess shit happens, amirite? It irks me a lot, ngl.
The structure of the episodes, the command of narrative techniques, the use of very specific and recurrent symbols... superb writing. Yes, there are some minor mistakes, some inconsistencies and some stuff that I personally don't like and yet... After 20 year this season still EATS.
After 20 years I still hate the "Love Triangle" trope. I hated it 20 years ago and things haven't changed, maybe they even got worse. Yes, I'm referring to the Kate-Jack-Saywer of it all. I used to ship Kate and Jack but, upon rewatching s1, I find that Jack is sometimes a bit of a dick towards Kate while Kate unnecessarily keeps doing these little manipulations when it's clear as day that Jack's got it bad for her and she already has him wrapped around her finger. I like that Kate and Saywer immediately clock each other as outcasts and outlaws and flirt their way around it but I think Kate dumps on him the same attitude Jack dumps on her and I'm like "please leave my man James out of your little machinations to play the doctor, thank you".
Speaking of, I know that a queer watsonian reading of Lost is... well, I don't want to say "impossible" because nothing is, but it is not an easy feat. Having said that, my headcanon is that Jack and Sawyer are the real soullmates, their chemistry is off the charts. I know that they've created these two cishet characters exuding straightness from every pore but there's so much of that between the two of them that it actually circles back to being very queer when they interact.

Why Eloise is My Favorite Character
Tumblr media
First off, look at that beautiful face. Claudia is deadass pretty. But besides that, she’s the one that has visibly gone through the most character development and it was subtle as well. When I watched season 3 part 2 trailer(garbage like I predicted it’d be) watching Eloise and the maturity and concern she had for her brother, insisting Penelope to tell him, that she can’t lie to him and expect him to love her(which he’ll end up doing anyway but fuck Polin) and even given Penelope a chance to tell him. The mercy she showed Penelope despite what she’s done and the pain she caused her; the trailer made me finally come to the conclusion that she’s my favorite character.
I was iffy bout Eloise at the beginning of season 1. I know many were annoyed with her and said she was a pick me girl—I even thought, “booo, here we go, one of those annoying buffoon feminists who don’t know how good they have it.” She wasn’t annoying, but she sure was self-righteous about women’s roles in society and how they shouldn’t have to be subjected to the marriage mart and all the feminist bible thumping bs and saying this from her ivory tower.
But you know what she did? She walked down those tower steps, willingly left that ivory tower to go expand her views and learn outside of it, something that women in the ton wouldn’t do. She put herself at risk to broaden her horizon.
“You wish to follow your heart. I wish to nurture my mind.”
Eloise didn’t reject Theo’s criticism of her limited understanding and her privileged position. She took that to seek greater understanding beyond what she knows so I really don’t know how in the living shit people think she’s self-absorbed, especially after she starts interacting with Theo.
Eloise is brusque and may come off as abrasive, but she has integrity, is gracious, and is kind-hearted. She sought out LW for a selfless cause: to help Penelope and her family from ruin. She helped LW escape from the Queen.
The times Penelope has come with her crocodile tears, Eloise dropped everything to comfort her despite Pen insulting with her “pretty Bridgerton” comments(but she’s a bad friend, amirite?)
She didn’t see the lower class as beneath her but as people to learn from(but she’s blind to her privilege, right Penelope stan?)
She was one of the few who showed compassion and understanding for Marina's situation. Despite her being sheltered(that a lot of anti-Eloise fans get their rocks off in exaggerating), she knew that Marina was in a shit place and treated shamefully.
She knows there aren’t many women who share her views and thought processes, but that doesn’t stop her from having them and voicing them and hopes that women would also go against social conditioning.
“How else should I be? Married and silent?”
She kept Penelope’s secret for months. She didn’t try to destroy Penelope or get back at her. She just cut her off and moved on with her life. She took the high road in this situation, a thing that some adults don’t even do.
When she realized that her gossiping hurt Penelope, she sought her out, admitted fault, and apologized. That was incredibly brave and mature. She might be angry at Penelope, but she pushed back when Cressida was mean, even apologized to Pen on Cressida’s behalf.. She didn’t push Colin to be cruel to Penelope just because she had a fall out with her. Eloise is A LOT better than me because if I was in her shoes, Colin finding out bout Whistledown would be the least of Penelope’s problems.
Eloise is just a joy to see on screen, especially in S3 where she is literally the only voice of reason and her suffering with this LW business got me weeping(especially since we know Pen will suffer nothing from it). She better have a good conclusion by the end of the season. The show has failed in almost everything this season.
Don’t fail on Eloise.

Sorry for the mini-essay but I think people massively underestimate how much hard work and dedication goes into a Passion Project. People think that creators who make free content, who do their work as a hobby and not as a job, must only get enjoyment out of it.
That’s not how it works. Doing it purely because you want to doesn’t automatically make the more challenging, frustrating, or (gasps) TIME CONSUMING parts of the project any less burdensome. If anything, it makes it worse because you aren’t being paid for all of that labor. You’re just doing it for the sake of doing it, and as rewarding as it can be, it can also be demanding.
Im finally publishing a fanfic for the first time and don’t get me wrong, it’s been great to get feedback on my work and interact with a community. I love that there are usernames and profile pictures I can actually identify because they’re regulars on my work.
But does that mean I don’t have to constantly redo work because I don’t like how it turned out? No. Does that mean I always update on time? No. Never get burnout? No. I still very much go through all of the things paid writers do, because the Creative Process is difficult and demanding no matter what they paycheck is or isn’t.
And all of that is just if you guys WERE missing updates, which you’re NOT. So like… these complaints are not only very entitled and ignorant, but also just confusing. People really just be mad for the sake of being mad, I guess?
Anyways yeah, free content creators are still content creators, and passion-driven hard work is still hard work. You two are cranking out absolutely STUNNING visuals, compelling characters and engaging worldbuilding every single week and that’s amazing. Thank you for your hard work and I’m sorry about the twerps that don’t appreciate it enough!
Tumblr media
Ah the price we pay for being human and having a brain, amirite haha
It's to be expected, to a certain point, that people simply don't understand that things like comics and cartoons take time. General impatience is something that can be ignored. If people asking for updates bothered us, we wouldn't post anywhere ever haha You gotta have at least SOME backbone if you want to do a comic. Or anything really.
Comics are a TON of work, and I knew this going in cuz I've done shorter comics before. It is not to be treated as if its easy. (Well, its easier than animating a whole series by yourself LOL) There's a lot of pre-comic planning that people don't tell you about. And that's just the stuff you have to do before you even start drawing. Of course this only applies to long-form storytelling, there's different rules for different kinds of comics.
And I won't even get into what it takes to making the comic itself, there's a lot of parts that need to be considered like formatting, time-management, what shortcuts you have to take to save on labor, and getting across as much information as you can in a short amount of time, while using mostly visuals. It's a skill, so it can be learned haha
A lot of doing comics is on-the-job training. Which I know can be frustrating for perfectionists, but from a reader's perspective, part of the joy of webcomics is seeing how far the art has come. And you can't exactly get out a webcomic if you keep redoing things over and over. You'll burn yourself out even faster. This is why it's important to have a plan lol it just makes it easier to adjust if you have to change things, than if you have no plan at all.
Even if RJ and I for whatever reason no longer felt passionate about this story, and wanted to move on to something else entirely, we wouldn't leave everyone hanging. We'd tell everyone what happens one way or another. Because too many people just abandon a story just to tell another one, and that's not fair to people who were here to read a story that appealed to them.
But the entitlement of people sucks, the constant heckling, the fact we can't moderate our own comment section, and more importantly Webtoons just sucks as a site anyway. - Cat

Do you think Uub would have a positive relationship with the other main human martial artists - namely Krillin, Tenshinhan, Yamcha and Master Roshi? What would those interactions look like, in your opinion?
It's an interesting question. By the time Uub comes along, most of those characters have retired from martial arts - and the one who hasn't doesn't socialize. (At least, before Super changed things up so much.)
Roshi, of course, was more or less retired already when we met him. He just couldn't help himself but take on a new pupil when he saw Goku's talent.
Once Roshi was content that the new kids were going to be fine, he was more than happy to return to the easy life from whence he came.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Roshi loves the art but also, despite his 300 years of age, has respect for the passing of generations. His time in the sunlight ended a long time ago, and the future belongs to the children who came up after him.
With that in mind, I think he'd be happy to see that his pupil Goku has now taken on a next next generation pupil, and is passing down his teachings just as Roshi once passed his own to Goku. Goku has come full circle, and when his day in the sun comes to an end, it will fall to Uub to take Goku's art and make it his own, as Goku once did with Roshi's.
I mean. If Dragon Ball allows him, given that this is the story's third attempt at giving Goku a successor. Grumble grumble.
Yamcha's a pretty cool bro who's easy to get along with, as long as he isn't robbing you at gunpoint. ...honestly, even then.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I know I blew your car up with an RPG and then tried to rob you with a machine gun but WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE AMIRITE?"
Yamcha also has a passion for martial arts - Specifically, the sport of competitive fighting. He knows everyone who is anyone in the martial arts space.
Tumblr media
Dude legit didn't even know Goku was going to be at this tournament. He's just here to compete.
Tumblr media
Despite never getting very far in the tournament itself, the Tenkaichi Budokai is Yamcha's environment. He doesn't care if he's participating or not; He just wants to be here.
But Yamcha also hit his limit. During the fight with the Androids, Yamcha decided to bow out and retired into the role of being a utility character.
Tumblr media
He doesn't outright say, "I quit martial arts," but this is the end of his career. He's still a pal, though. He flies the plane to chase Cell, tends to Goku while he's out, all that good jazz. He's still one of the gang.
And he still loves the Tenkaichi Budokai environment, continuing to turn up to the tournaments long after he's given up on competing.
Tumblr media
Even if he isn't participating, Yamcha is a great sport and he retains his love of the game well into his retirement. With that in mind, he'd probably be excited to see Uub develop.
Krillin's in about the same boat. He attends the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai because his wife wants that prize money.
Tumblr media
But he's already retired by this point. Finally letting his hair grow out was a consequence of his decision to bow out of martial arts. By the time of the 28th Tenkaichi Budokai, he doesn't even bother entering.
I'm not sure how Uub and Krillin would get on. I think Krillin would find it neat that his pal Goku has an apprentice. But also, that isn't his world anymore. His wife and his daughter are what's important to him now, so he'd probably approach Uub from a "Oh, cool, you do you" sort of distance.
That leaves Tenshinhan.
The thing about Ten is, Ten is not looking to make friends. Given the opportunity to become One of the Gang, he refuses. Tenshinhan walks a different road.
Tumblr media
After the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, Ten and Chiaotzu decide to forge their own path. They are no longer students of Tsuru-senryu but they also refuse to associate with Kame-senryu. Instead, Ten and Chiaotzu create their own martial art and continue cultivating their skills themselves.
For a time, they do take on higher training together with the Kame-senryu students.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But he's here for the opportunity to undergo godly training.
And, of course, he joins the others in resisting huge planetary threats to the safety and wellbeing of the Earth.
Tumblr media
But not out of kinship for the others. Tenshinhan isn't a member of the Found Family; He's more like a work colleague. Once Cell is defeated, he outright tells the others that without a common cause, this relationship is over.
Tumblr media
He's friendly about it but still. "We'll probably never see each other again" doesn't exactly telegraph an intent to remain in contact. He's a man of his word, too; Gohan excepted, this is the last they ever see of Ten. He never competes in the Tenkaichi Budokai again, and he only briefly shows up to lend Gohan a hand against Majin Buu after all of the others are dead or devoured.
Tumblr media
For Ten, it's all about the art. He's nice enough to the others, but he gets all the companionship he wants or needs from Chiaotzu. Hermited away in the mystical realm of Wherever He Fucking Lives, he'll continue developing his style independently from anyone else until the day he dies.
I think Ten would be friendly enough to Uub, but would mainly see him as a new rival to match himself against, for the purpose of developing his art.

Thoughts about Tsukuyo
Tumblr media
She was introduced late as part of the main cast, but I think it was a good decision on Sorachi's end. This is because when he created her, he was already a more experienced writer, he’d been writing his characters for a while and knew what his story needed.
I really like the dualities of Tsukuyo’s character. Her exterior is hard and cold, but inside her lies a very sensitive and protective person. She was a rebel, she fought against an oppressive system from the shadows. This caused enormous loneliness, keeping an emotional distance from the rest, especially from Hinowa.
Jiraia's teachings had a deep impact on her. It went against her kind nature, but she was led to believe that caring for others, loving others made her weak. These characteristics, regarded “feminine” by her master, made her weak.
This is why I consider her arc to be so important and one that resonates with me personally. These ideas, although they’ve been changing, still linger in our society today. And the society of Gintama's world remains particularly sexist.
This is also explored with Kyuubei. But while Kyuubei completely rejects femininity and embraces masculinity, Tsukuyo rejects the idea of femininity (what she was taught it meant at least), but she still feels like a woman. They’re different paths facing the same situation.
Tumblr media
It’s over time that Tsukuyo begins to open up to others, learns to lean on others and overcome her traumas, especially in relation to her teacher. Being a caring person and loving is not something feminine or weak, on the contrary, it makes you someone strong. Sorachi completes her arc with these aspects in mind.
Although I consider Tsukuyo to be one of the best developed characters in the series, I was left wanting to see her interact with more characters. Don't get me wrong, her interactions with her family in Yoshiwara, the Yorozuya and the Gintaladies are extremely important, but I wish we’d seen more.
For example, I would’ve loved to see her in a trio with Sacchan and Zenzou (wait not that kind of trio-) as ninjas, more interactions with the Shinsengumi (considering the Hyakka is also a type of police). Speaking of the Hyakka, it would’ve been great to have a recurring character who was the vice-captain of that organization.
There's also the fact that almost all the characters Tsukuyo interacts with regularly are women, with the exception of Seita, Shinpachi, and Gintoki. A boy, a teenager, and a man (whose relationship hasn't caused any controversy amirite), but it would’ve been interesting if she’d more male friends.
That being said, I think Tsukuyo's character development was pretty good. Her character is realistic, multifaceted. More importantly, I believe that she reached her potential, both personally and professionally, with her being not only the leader of her organization, but also the leader of her city.

Modern Academic AU pt3
All this because I couldn't stop thinking about what kinds of classes Professor Raphael would teach... He's laughing up at me from hell, I just know it.
part 1 and part 2
------------------------------
Kagha (by request!) - Environmental Science. Will only teach courses about political lobbying and activism. She's also a militant vegan and active member of PETA, and won't shut up about it.
Dammon - College of Engineering. Teaches "Advanced Manufacturing Processes" and "Finite Element Analysis", and runs the machining shop. Also teaches a metal sculpture class when there's room in the Art School's budget. He's one of the faculty liaisons for several LGBTQA+ orgs on campus as well, and is completely oblivious to the fact he has a fan club (which is for the best, really)
Zevlor - Campus Security. A retired Green Beret who refuses to talk about his time in the service, he's well liked by most faculty and known to be a bit of an old school charmer. LOTS of rumors and speculation about what kind of injury got him discharged, and how he got it.
Barcus - College of Engineering. He teaches classes on Thermodynamics and Process Design & Safety. Has no idea how popular and well-liked he is by both students and staff.
Wulbren - Chemical Engineering Dep't Chair. He's brilliant, but also an asshole, and is constantly trying to weasel more grant money for his research into ethically questionable chemical compound modifications. Also makes his TAs teach all his classes for him.
Lorroakan - English Dep't Chair. Thinks he's hot shit for it but really no one else wanted the job. He makes his TAs teach all his classes AND do all his admin work, so he can spend all his time (and the department's money) on schmoozing with alumni and donors.
Blurg - Environmental Science. Isn't that great of a teacher but it's required for keeping the research grants coming in. Thankfully his passion and enthusiasm for topics like Sustainability in Agriculture make up for his shortcomings.
Omeluum - They're actually Bluurg's research partner and not technically a member of faculty, though they also act as his unofficial TA because otherwise Bluurg's course work interferes with their research timelines.
Nine-Fingers Keene (by request) - School of Business. Her classes are all advanced level and titled things like "Gaining The Competitive Edge". She also runs an entrepreneurial outreach program for young women seeking to start their own businesses.
Dame Aylin - VP of Diversity and Inclusion. She's very passionate about her job and a VERY vocal advocate for social justice issues like inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility. Completely incapable of keeping her personal life separate from her professional one, as she's a devout believer in leading by example.
Isobel - School RN. Is fiercely protective of students right to medical privacy and access to judgment free care, but is much better known on campus for being Dame Aylin's wife.
The Emperor - Board of Trustees. Outwardly just an ordinary Trustee, generally pleasant to interact with and actually rather good at rubbing elbows with students, faculty, and admin alike. There's just something off about them, enough that they've had multiple audits and inquests over the years despite nobody ever being able to find any actual signs of misconduct.
------------------------------
Sorry this set took a bit longer to figure out. A bunch of these characters were a real challenge to fit into roles that actually exist in reality, and I had to do a bit of research to find out wtf kinds of classes or departments certain fields of study even have. Ah, the things we do for the blorbos, amirite?

Home, Pt. 3
Once through the gate, we are definitely inside Weir's figmented reality. She seems to have stepped through the gate alone while in the next scene we find that McKay has accompanied her which, upon initial viewing, might be considered an editing error, only here it's on purpose. There's weirdness going on. What, are we actually meant to believe that these people stepped through the gate then and there willy-nilly without running it by anyone at Atlantis with only the clothes on their backs?
Likely each one of them had a slightly different version of returning to SGC and being greeted + briefed by Hammond but we only get to see hers (also, Hammond being in his full regalia throughout is one of the hints that things are not quite right). This is actually confirmed later on in the episode where she tells Simon that she should have stayed in Atlantis and Sheppard should have come to earth. In her version of the false reality, Sheppard stayed behind. In her reality, McKay also continues to be supportive of her, like he's there just to reinforce her arguments. We get several shots of McKay just quietly observing things, taking them in, which is uncharacteristic of him. We are likely meant to think that it's the gravity of the situation that is keeping him quiet but what we are actually seeing is how Elizabeth wishes McKay behaved. Later, we also see how Ford views McKay: impatient and brow-beating him.
This episode is very clever in that it teaches the audience about the different perspectives different characters have, and also how the absence of evidence can be significant when two scenes are compared and juxtaposed. This is a thing that happens throughout the show.
Suddenly, we shift to Sheppard's figment. It is as though all of them had stepped through the gate to earth even though we only saw Elizabeth do it. He mentions the briefing as though he had just been a part of it, even though we didn't see his participation (we see a shoulder that might be him but we later on learn that couldn't have been him, since in Elizabeth's fantasy Sheppard stayed back), and in Sheppard's reality he was the one that gave the briefing, not Weir. Hammond compliments him on his thoroughness, where Sheppard himself expresses surprise that the briefing had gone by so fast.
Sheppard seems to clock that something isn't right immediately. As mentioned in Pt. 1, this may be due to his ATA gene (he is uniquely capable of affecting his reality, after all) or not having any real ties back to earth. It has been pointed out by many people that it is being complimented by Hammond that clues him in and that is just heart-breaking (being called "son" by Hammond may also have contributed to it, although it is only later that we learn of his daddy issues).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He does the lip thing of processing difficult emotions. This is clearly an acting choice Flanigan made early on.
Absences are sometimes just as telling as what we are shown on screen. McKay is not a part of Sheppard's reality. The choice could have been made by the alien entity if it had cause to suspect that interacting with someone that we have seen him keenly observe for the past several episodes might have been a dead give-away that something wasn't right, or it might be due to Sheppard himself manipulating the reality. He does mention at the end of the episode that he could have imagined something other than what he did, and purely by coincidence we get a shot of the two of them as he says this:
Tumblr media
He almost turns to look at McKay but then doesn't.
We are lead to understand that he does have fantasies that don't circle around taking Teyla shopping and entertaining dead team mates at a frat party, although the fact that the first thing his mind goes to is shopping for outfits is pretty hilarious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here, Sheppard is acting like a stereotypical straight dudebro in that he is frustrated by the time Teyla took shopping ('Women be shopping, amirite?'). Sheppard is acting like a stereotypical gay best friend in that he offers his 'queer eye' approval of her fashion choices. He is both of these things. Note also that Teyla spent hours and hours trying on outfits that were for all intents and purposes generated from Sheppard's mind. In fact, the presence of Teyla may well be the reason Sheppard fabricated the kind of reality he did and not something wildly different that he indicates at the end of the episode. He's testing the limits of the false reality by poking holes in it, not living out his wish fulfillment fantasy.
An example of Sheppard testing the construction of the false reality can be seen e.g., in the skull on wrist band:
Tumblr media
He's also probably still trying to ascertain whether Teyla is real or a part of it because he gives her a very odd look once she thanks him for the compliment. Also, the fact that he comments on her outfit draws the attention to his own outfit. It is very different from anything else we ever see him wear.
This episode is the first in which Sheppard's Johnny Cash poster appears. Granted, he later gets one for his Atlantis digs but here it's just something that he wishes he had, something that would exist in his dream "bachelor pad". The fact that Sheppard is single (but wishes he wasn't) is emphasized in the dialogue:
Teyla: So much space for just one person. Sheppard: Well, a guy's got to have a lot of space.
Tumblr media
(And good god, he looks so sad and lonely after he says that, about having everything a guy could want; he pauses and then wonders how the people he left behind in Atlantis are doing).
Like mentioned in connection to Vegas (S05E19), Sheppard fancies himself Johnny Cash's 'Man in Black'. The man who wishes he could dress in a rainbow but has to carry the darkness of the world on his back. I wonder however if in this episode the poster is not a reference to the song I Want to Go Home:
We sailed on the ship John B... Drinking all night, got into a fight Well, I feel so homesick I wanna go home... Sheriff John Stone why don't you leave me alone Well, I feel so homesick I wanna go home... Then he took and ate up all of my corn Let me go home why don't you let me go home Well this is the worst trip since I have been born
Sheppard does not want to be on earth.
However, he seems satisfied that Teyla is real enough, as he suddenly lets her in on what has been bothering him:
Sheppard: I'm starting to wonder about a few things myself. Teyla: What? Sheppard: Nothing feels wrong to you? I don't mean one thing, I mean everything. Teyla: I do not understand. Sheppard: 'Scuse me. Could you take us to the Green Moss Park area? Driver: Sure thing. Sheppard: Thank you. I think I'll have a better idea of what's bothering me once we get there.
Green Moss Park does not appear to be a real place and probably was not meant to be a fictional place either. But what is the significance? Moss green is the colour of army fatigues. It's an additional colour to the palette he's building in his reality. It probably has some meaning but it's not obvious what that is. Johnny Cash has songs about the Fourty Shades of Green and the Green Green Grass of Home but as references, these would be stretches at best. Regardless, Sheppard's entire world feels wrong when it does not have McKay in it.
Elsewhere, Weir's figment where she is welcomed with open arms by Simon is in stark contrast to McKay's world, where there's nothing waiting for him. The fact that he lives in denial is emphasized by how he explains his empty answering machine by a possible power failure.
At home, McKay immediately starts watching TV and snacking on crisps of some kind which, keeping in mind that Sheppard was just yearning to do the very same thing earlier in the episode, suggests that they have similar desires. He seems to be watching an episode of The Outer Limits. He could have been watching any number of episodes that would fit the theme of this episode (e.g., Keeper of the Purple Twilight, the Feasibility Study) but at the very least, it seems to be a way for his subconscious to signal that something is not right. He even later describes it as "a very strange Outer Limits episode".
Again, confronted by a beautiful woman that is supposed to be his neighbour and the pet-sitter for his cat, McKay does not know what to do. In his wish-fulfillment fantasy Rodney manages to say yes to a date with "the girl in 302," 302 being the designation of the fighter-interceptor used by SGC, and we're invited to make this connection by Weir's very succinct interjection of "Air force" just before he describes the woman. He is actually rescued from having to go on the date by his imagined Weir. This man is so deep in denial.
It may be a reach that the photograph on Rodney's floor, underneath his clothes, is of Sheppard. It's difficult to make out what it is.
Tumblr media
But what is easy to see is that the colour of his blue shirt accompanied with the french fries is the exact combination of the sports jacket Sheppard is wearing.
It is also noticeable that Sheppard is not a part of McKay's reality either. The version of Weir in his mind barely speaks, and the alien entity seems to use her to deliver information to him that is meant to make him accept this figment as reality but she's not really a fully fleshed person. Again, having a version of Sheppard in his constructed reality would probably have alerted McKay to it being a figment much sooner than a terse Weir or having the laws of physics be gibberish. Everything in McKay's world tells us that he too is terribly, terribly lonely. Unlike Weir who had someone waiting for her back home, they both are.

Headshots of the apathy adoring guys.
Sketch ver
apathy adoring is a self-indulgent rewrite of redo of healer that is probably at leasta little influenced by the way too many manhwa/manga with dubious relationships I've read. Which is to say for some reason I looked at Redo of Healer and thought "I can make a messed-up Josei story out of this" and ended up doing it. Still has dark themes though so like. Careful before you click.
Anyway. Notes on the guys as of Ch 11 and general apathy adoring notes/spoilerish recap if anyone cares to read that I suppose. Random summary stuff and fun facts.
The Boy | Keyaru
Protagonist of Redo of Healer. The premise of that thing is that this guy at 14 years old was abused physically and sexually for 2 years because his semen can raise the level cap of others. It be one of those magic with numbers and a limited slot of skills fantasy worlds. He goes back in time and carries out a long rape revenge seinen fantasy thing. I did not like that. I don't know why the fic got into my brain so much.
Still out for revenge in the fanfic. He ran away from Alban and managed to eat a couple more poisonous plants and fungi relative to canon before he was caught this time, so his immunity to drugs and poison kicked in sooner.
Was still caught, healed Kureha, allows himself to be abused for the revenge plan, that whole deal.
Interested in the maid because of previous timeline memories. Infatuated by the Maid/reader in this current timeline due to the chain of events that occurred that resulted in more interactions. (Came in later, she was assigned to clean him up, and it just went on and on)
A notable differences from the source material includes him playing along and "getting better" at healing publicly so he gets to stay out of the dungeon some days. I was getting tired of writing scenes in the dungeon.
Has introduced himself to the Maid/reader character. So she knows his name. She just refuses to acknowledge it.
The weirdest thing he's done in the story so far: used healing magic to kind of transform his hand into being like the Maid's wounded one and kissed it.
Main aim when writing him: Pitiful enough to make you help but there's something wrong with him that makes you regret it. Or maybe you're just being paranoid.
The Knight | Bako
Appears in the light novel/manga and is killed shortly after. Was used by Keyaru and his group because Bako was the "most sane of the knights" whatever that means. In the novel it was murder after his aid because he was involved in the attack on Keyaru's village and could have spread knowledge if Keyaru's party, in the manga it was because he attacked Keyaru's group in revenge for killing Renard. Renard had taken him in. He's vice captain of Princess Flare (first/main abuser of Keyaru)'s knights.
In the fic he's a coward who is aware of Renard's atrocities but is too attached to his father figure to really do anything about it.
Infatuated with the maid due to projecting. He is very aware of what the kingdom does to the boy in the dungeon but you know. Coward.
Savior Complex.
I hate his hair why are you so spiky.
Has no colored version in the manga. Was that insignificant. Chose blond hair for the "knight in shining armor pretty gold good and righteous" imagery and steel blue eyes and something dull and different from the red eyes of the other guys. Also. Similar to Renard.
Main aim when writing him: physically strong/imposing but kind of pathetic if you're not in a fight-or-flight headspace.
Yukito | Harris | The Rabbit
An oc I made to balance out the cast. What's a josei without 3 guys amirite haha
No but like sincerely. A character to balance out whatever freak stuff is happening with the other two. Also probably delves into the idea of free will and consent somewhat.
Is a rabbit demi-human (basically a rabbit boy). Escaped slave, gave his "true name" to the Maid/Reader after they met by chance, which by source material lore means that he is bound to her mind and heart, body and soul. She is Not Happy about this.
Has chopped his ears and tail off and is blending in as the "human" Harris surprisingly well. Being albino tends to answer the question of why he hides his face for most people.
Main aim when writing him: a decent, sweet person in unfortunate circumstances. Kind of the physical manifestation of the idea of running away, which even if possible the maid thinks of too much of a dream than actual choice.
Bonus
The Maid | The Reader
Low level low magic horrible stats. Instead of being a competent warrior like the other staff in the palace, she is just good at cleaning.
Very tired, very paranoid. Violent intrusive thoughts.
Wary of all the boys. No attraction to any of them lol.
But if pressed. And had to stick to any of them. It would be Yukito.

question if there was a season 3 rc9gn, who could know the identity of the ninja and not tell anyone and keep it a secret if there was a season 3
Alright, this might be my last ask for the day- at least when it comes to my non in character asks, but let's go!
Fair warning, this may be a long post because uh- I just get into it to be honest.
If and when because I will not accept anything less, we had gotten a new season- these are the characters I feel would be able to know about Randy, I mean the Ninja!
First and foremost is Theresa- like, even without the angle of Fowlham, I would've loved to see this interaction. Theresa is a selfless young girl who has a lot of potential to be clued in on the Ninja's identity; especially when it's implied behind the scenes that she has a crush on Randy, but even with that- even if we took that out, the Ninja still saved her and I think because of that it might compel her into keeping his secret. She wouldn't want to put him in harm's way.
Second and this is important, and the one I most wanted to talk about because it honestly makes a lot of sense- not just from the angle of story, but because they had SO many interactions and for what?? They wasted a perfectly good element, but to get to the point- my next choice is Julian! Like, come on- we had the Ninja, Howard, and Julian work together for... who knows how long in the Land of Shadows (firmly convinced time works differently in that realm, but this is just my own headcanon-), but we also had the episodes before that where they had more interactions. We all know Howard's a little stingy, but then again- Randy's weird jealousy streak has me dying; anyway! Julian would keep that secret and bring it to his grave, you cannot convince me otherwise.
I also feel like if there were to be a third member who got clued in, oddly enough it's Debbie and if this is all to have Debbie, Howard, Randy, and Theresa be friends, I have no idea what you're talking about coughs but anyway! Like I don't think Debbie really understands the dangers and what the Ninja is actually dealing with, but when she does - this girl better get a redemption arc. There's only so much that can be done with cartoons, but I SWEAR - like, these four (or five if Julian's included) had better be friends in season three or I will riot.
Anyone else would somehow end up spilling the Ninja's identity; except maybe Heidi Weinerman, but that's a big what-if because I do not have a full read on her character but also fuck canon, amirite? /lh
Okay, this is less 'they'll know in season three' and more 'wouldn't it be neat if someone already knew or was just suspicious' type thoughts because THERE'S POTENTIAL in the teachers kind of or fully knowing who the Ninja is- like, especially if it had been Slimovitz because, woo-wee, you can't tell me you can't see the vision. Kind of like in those fics where Lancer from Danny Phantom discovered who Phantom really was, because there's nothing that wouldn't convince me otherwise- if Slimovitz knew, if ANY of the teachers, they will protect any of the Ninjas. Yes, that includes Mac Antfee.
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.
