Shang tsung character analysis and hcs. Pt1
My shang tsung hcs and character analysis too.
*note this is mk11/95 movie/tagawa's shang tsung with a mix of my own verse.*
Cw:nsfw kontent ahead. Maybe some angst. Mostly hcs and fan rambling. So if you dont wanna sit here and scroll thru me rambling about my fave sorcerer sneky man. Ignore this post. If you do. Welcome to mortal kombat. 💚
🐍💚🐍💚🐍💚🐍💚🐍💚🐍💚🐍💚🐍💚🐍
Sfw:
Shang tsung first and foremost you gotta understand is self serving and preserving. So for him to set aside himself for you,IS A BIG THING! He goes out of his way for you, makes YOU a priority, takes time for YOU. THAT IS SPECIAL,DO NOT TAKE THAT FOR GRANTED!
Secondly,if he let's you in close proximity and let's you do certain things. Like make and pour his tea or wine or drink. Or make him food or he goes out the way to make you something. If he let's you dress him or fix or put on his kombat armor. Or especially,comb/brush and style his hair. He takes pride in his appearance. Not out of vanity nessicarly, but out of a sense of personal pride. He is a man who doesn't like to live in squander. Even at his lowest,he hold himself high. He always makes sure he's presentable. Even tossed asunder in the woes of kombat. Bleeding, hair tossled, bruises, etc. He still wipes the blood from his mouth with that grin of knowing. He's ten steps ahead of you. He's got this honey. He's hundreds of years old. He's got this. Dont you worry your pretty little head.
He wouldn't go out of his way nessicarly in the beginning of your relationship at least in public,to hug or give physical affection. He wont deny it either. He'll wholeheartedly accept hugs, especially if he knows(or reads your soul) that, that is one or more of your love languages. Give him time to warm up to you. It's not out of embarrassment,or even pride. It is simply my dear because shang tsung has trust issues. He is a cautious man,he has many enemies. And being with him,may gain you some reputation. Whether that is good or bad depends entirely upon you.
Shang tsung if he had a lover would absolutely be doting,i mean after all. You captured THE MASTER OF SOUL MAGIC. the tournament master of mortal kombat. The shang tsung himself. Great tsungus. Lol. I mean you're doing something right.
He is a devil in love, doting, possessive, not in a creepy way. But in a "your soul and heart belongs to me,in every life i would find you and once again make you mine. And i am yours. We are one, with the infinite cosmos. I AM YOURS AND YOU ARE MINE, FOREVER" he is all or nothing in love. Like he if he didn't see a future or a forever. Or a spouse material from you. He wouldn't even bother pursuing you honey.
Now,how long it takes for him to warm up to you. Depends. Sometimes it's a few years, few months. Maybe even a few minutes. Shang tsung is kinda finicky like that. However....once you've captured his heart. You got it for eternity. He is absolutely a loyal lover. He doesn't take betrayal kindly. So dont break his heart... or he'll break your spine like chen. Jk,jk. Shang tsung would most certainly take it hard,so dont do him dirty ok?
Like i said this man has trust issues, his trust issues have trust issues. He's cautious. He'll test the waters so to speak with you. He'll put you in scenarios to see how you favor. Or he'll say something to see your reaction. Like he pushes buttons, nothing too harsh of course. But just enough to see your standing with him. He NEEDS to know he can rely on you,and that you're the one for him.
Shang tsung is a man of weath and taste. So you're gonna be well taken care of. Nothing is too good for his beloved. Prime sugar daddy material. Srry not srry. However,he is pampering within reason. Also you gotta give that lovin back honey. However,he loves to dress you, style your hair, and absolutely adorn you with the finest he can get his hands on. Not for any other reason than that he enjoys doing that. For you,he'd burn the realms to see you happy and content. For you, your his consort and the only person he'd even consider,an equal.
Shang tsung likes to wine and dine. He wants to enjoy himself, and for you to as well. So expect a nice lavish dinner or a relaxing evening of him reading to you. Perhaps a stroll on his island or palace gardens. His beach is absolutely breathtaking at night under moonlight. He is a romantic,I'll die on that hill (He's basically Chinese Dracula ok?).
Ok shang tsung is absolutely a good conversationalist,he knows exactly what to say,how to say it,and when to say it. He knows how to stim your mind. So if you(like me) looooove you a man who can conversate and knows his way around with words and talk deep and also even if you talk about basically nothing you're still entertained and have a great time. Like shang tsung is the man for you. Like a man who can genuinely stim my mind and heart can have my mew mew anyday. They have my FULL attention. (I have Virgo mars and cancer venus,I'm screwed with this man. Taurus moon and rising, leo sun. Cancer mercury. Yeah.....im doomed. Lol) (Speaking of which i have an astro chart for shang too so if y'all wanna read i posted it. But i can reshare it again if anyone is interested.)
Ok now nsfw kontent below cut.
Ok now for the smut. 😏💖💋🐍💚🥵
Ok shang tsung like i said knows how to talk. So...this extends to the bedroom. This man could coo, purr, and Make anybody's panties drop with his voice alone. Like he could dirty talk or whisper sweet nothings. He could gas you up like no tomorrow.
If you are insecure about your looks,he will absolutely focus on those areas. He will pay extra attention. And he will reassure you that you are absolutely ravishing. He finds every part of you delectable.
For example: if you are shy about your legs. He will stroke up and down them. Paying attention to your reaction. Kissing up and down your thighs. Or if you're insecure about your belly,he'd kiss that area and reassure you that he loves every part of you. He'd reassure you that you have nothing to feel insecure about. You're perfect just as you are. How you're so soft and cute in the lighting of moonlight. The soft glow of you is always such a wonderful sight to see. How your eyes light up. Etc,etc. He's very attentive.
Shang tsung has tounge game. He'd eat you out/go down on you. Like a man in starvation. Like you were the last thing to consume in the whole realms. Also im sorry that man KNOWS HOW TO EAT PUSSY! I WILL DIE ON THAT HILL TOO! (Honestly it's not that hard to suck cock either, But he's good in that department too). Like shang's oral game overall is OUTSTANDING.
Now as for cobra. Hee hee. He's packing, but he's not like exaggerated like some people cartoonishly wanna put. 🙄. Like i hc him flaccid is 6' or 6' and a half inches, But fully erected he's around maybe 7 or 8 depending on if he's masturbated or fucked you in a bit. The longer time has passed the bigger it can look (Talking fromExperience). Like on average shang is 7 approx. So packing, but reasonable. Like people think big dicks are all great, but in reality most people can't take big dicks and aren't able to. 6 or 7 inches is perfectly fine, becausei feel people dont even know how big 7 or 8 or even 9 inches really is,also it's about skill and pacing and lots of foreplay. But anyways, shang tsung is shang hung.
He's also really good with foreplay,he enjoys the leading up to sex more than the sex itself. Not that he doesn't enjoy that. He does. He just loves to tease.
Prt 2 coming soon.

I mean this is an aspect to her but there are other times where she is distrusting from the get go without much evidence and then justifies herself after the fact with the authority figures doing something bad that justifies the distrust after she already made her decision. Like how she's already decided to take over the city for Dinah and then AFTERWARDS sees the city is doing a poor job of reconstruction and says she's taking over it so she could do better, or I know this might be controversial here but I think Armsmaster was reasonable in saying he couldn't just let her do an unsupervised spy operation and rob a bank for it and Taylor overreacted, but then Armsmaster messes up the Endbringer treaty later and she uses that as "see I knew he was a horrible person". So I don't think it's always the cases that she trusts and hopes until she's definitively proven wrong about that.
(from @halogenwarrior)
the bit you mention first is true, and doesn't contradict with the analysis it's in response to--or rather it does contradict, but that's perfectly sensible, because taylor has a lot of contradicting thoughts, feelings, and actions! i never said it was always the case that she trusts and hopes until she's definitively proven wrong about it. for every time she holds out a last bit of hope for a system of authority to do the right thing, there's a time she's so utterly disillusioned with humanity as a whole that she rejects or remains oblivious to support from a friend. her trauma manifests itself in a variety of contradictory ways, because she's struggling with contradictory emotions where she recognizes that she's being treated unfairly but still can't avoid the negative self-image she's internalized from the bullying. you're not proving the original post to be wrong here, you're just expanding on another aspect of her character.
as for the other bit: to be clear, armsmaster is a cop, and he's a piece of shit. it's obviously unhealthy, dysfunctional, and ridiculous for a 15yo to go "i have elected to do an unsupervised spy operation and rob a bank to take this villain team down," but armsmaster is Not A Very Good Person for
1. being a cop concerned with figuring out how to thwart Those Evil Sixteen Year Olds The Undersiders when they're all using crime as a method of surviving the ways in which systems of authority (including the PRT itself) have failed them
and
2. responding to a literal 15yo expressing interest in putting herself into a dangerous situation for heroic reasons (tm) by shutting her down/treating her brusquely instead of intervening in what is clearly a mental crisis situation to offer proper support. he is a cop beefing with a 15yo Clearly Undergoing A Crisis Situation because said 15yo isn't doing cop behaviors in the way he wants. sucks. all cop capes are bastards we should throw rocks at him
The only book in my bag that I hadn’t already read was called ‘Triumvirate’, a biography of the leading three members of the Protectorate. I was thinking I would spend as long as I could on Mr. Gladly’s assignment before reading, because I wasn’t enjoying the book. Biographies weren’t my thing, and they were especially not my thing when I was suspicious it was all made up.
obviously this is the part in a worm reread where one goes "teehee, Heehoo, so it was," but beyond that i think it's interesting that this bit establishes that taylor is already disillusioned with and distrustful of the narrative the PRT is presenting for itself, and it gets me thinking abt some of the early contradictions in taylor's behavior & thought processes we're going to see soon. her trauma has led her to deeply distrust systems of authority & society as a whole: the school system + A Lot of the children attending her school knew she was being bullied, and did absolutely nothing to intervene. this is reflected in her power--rather than being focused on control over just a few people or minions at once, it turns her into a walking panopticon, allowing her to survey (or attack!) entire swathes of a city at once. she feels that society itself is watching her and is either indifferent to or actively hostile to her, that attack could come from any direction at any time. and so she has the ability to watch everyone back, to avoid relying on any system of support by having her own thousand eyes (and as she learns how to innovate with her power later on, effectively her own thousand hands with which to control situations on a very broad level).
but despite this disillusionment with systems of authority (PRT/triumvirate included), despite her utter lack of trust in them and in people as a whole to do good, she still starts the book off by being Really Into the idea of being a hero, to the point where she places a nonzero amount of good faith in armsmaster under the very false expectation that he "owes her one" or would otherwise stick his neck out for her when all he's done is beef with her, a 15yo. (armsmaster why are you beefing with a 15yo.) and this fundamental bit of dissonance between her beliefs & her actions is because she'a internalized the idea that society is cruel and uncaring to her because there really is just something wrong with her, because she really is that ugly or disgusting or stupid or just Too Taylor for anyone to care about her. she distrusts systems of authority (& society as a whole) for not giving a shit about her, but she is not immune to the inevitable outcome of bullying wherein the bullied teenager believes that if they could Just Be Different, if they just Weren't Themselves, if they just weren't this terrible unlovable person, then maybe they wouldn't be treated this way. her initial obsession w/ being a hero is very much about that--she wants to believe that if she puts on this costume, if takes up this alternate identity and does it right, then the PRT will value her, then a system of authority & society as a whole will finally accept her and recognize her as something good and treat her fairly. which is a belief that we'll see ruthlessly shredded as she tries time and time again to place some last bit of trust in the PRT to not be Totally Ghoulishly Awful and the PRT breaks that trust every single time :)

the intense shaming culture of tumblr is good sometimes actually the current "fanfiction is/isn't literature" and "read something other than fanfiction/stop telling people what to read" discourses have made me start trying to read actual books again because I react wonderfully to feeling shamed
#i say this mostly tongue in cheek but with some sincerity!#i 100% do support the argument that fanfiction IS literature and can and does have works from absolute trash up to beautifully written#objectively high quality works#but that definitely veers into like. fan studies and probably folklore and sociology and all and i'm far too lazy to get into that lmao#however there is something to be said for diversity of literature consumption! i'm reading an academic text rn and i am loving it but it#is HARD. because it's not the fiction (of umpteen dofferent genres) i prefer. but it's also making me think a lot#and bc it's about appalachian women and education i've had one of likely several really brilliNt conver#*brilliant conversations with my mom (who was born in west virginia and didn't go to college but really pushed education for her kids)#the thing with fanfiction is that it allows for easier search and tailoring to a specific taste and there's a level of comfort i'd argue#because of the play being done w/preexisting narrative worlds and characters#like full honesty - i lived and breathed good omens CANON works (book show radio drama and such) and fan works for like 5 months in 2019#because the canon works made me really happy and hit on specific interests of mine and experiences and emotions#and frankly there were just some really brilliant fan works being made about it. really talented creators!#going back to original works in the form of books has been extra challenging becausw - as i never stop saying - i have a BA in english anr#*and focused on lit classes and as much fun as they were and as stimulating as analysis and arguments and close readings were and still are#it actually did ruin one of my favorite activities for a long time because i couldn't turn off the analysis and the need to find things to#write about argue in class analyze for a final paper etc. to the point that it was a chore even with my love for such analytical reading#fanfiction makes that prt of my brain MUCH easier to turn off because i took one (1) class on fanfiction-as-literature which i loved but#didn't totally rewire the part of my brain that housed enjoyment of reading as a purely leisure activity#idk these are all highly personalized musings on what continues to be a super vitriolic topic of discourse#and as always my final thoughts are 'balance! nuance!' and also literature isn't a set in stone concept but also#variety and challenging one's self with new genres and formats (i.e. me with this academic text and then a memoir next)#does a HELL of a lot of good for the brain!! but also hobbies don't HAVE to be a challenge of course. this is just what I need#also helps that i've been trying to make reading books on the back porch a Thing so that I'm going outside AND reading and creating this gr8#association between the upliftingness of the outdoors and relearning to love reading books. i'm making myself a ritual i guess#and i've also been doing needlepoint+podcast listening out there. and in a bit i'm gonna make a grocery list whilst on the porch

BNHA Chapter 322 Spoiler Analysis: Bakugo’s Growth
Oh my god is this real life? Am I reading Horikoshi’s AO3 fics? I don’t drink or do drugs, so yesterday felt like a goddamn fever dream. An incredible one at that. Seriously, this might be one of my favorite chapters in the series for Bakugo’s moment alone. I’m probably going to backtrack that later on if Horikoshi keeps this high quality up, but I’m cool with that. This series has just been so damn good and it keeps getting better. So, let’s go:
I’m going to get the smaller stuff out of the way first because I really want to focus on Bakugo’s apology this time because that’s the main course:
I love that Kirishima got something to do and say this chapter. He was right there on the ground ready to catch Iida and Deku when they fell. And he’s probably one of the more physically stronger kids in the class + his Hardening so Kirishima was a good choice to have on standby. Also, him realizing that Deku was the kid who tried to save Bakugo from the sludge villain at the beginning of the series was a good callback because Deku inadvertently inspired Kirishima to become the hero he is now.
Thirteen actually shows her face since her helmet was damaged in the war and WOW SHE’S PRETTY 😳 That was not on my bingo card, but I will take it happily!
Then there’s Ochako who grabs Deku’s hand to tell him it’s ok and that he doesn’t have to leave again after he, well, tries to leave again. It’s really cute and feels like a resolution of some sorts of their feelings for each other. Not a conclusion, but it feels like Horikoshi is wrapping things up. I don’t know how deep Horikoshi’s going to go into Ochako and Deku romantically, but I like that it’s told subtlety. And it looks like the next chapter will have Ochako do something cool, so I’m excited to see that.
THAT UA BARRIER IS MASSIVE DEAR LORD! And apparently it can do even more than that. LIKE DOES IT HAVE GUNS TOO? Hakgakure says it connects to Shiketsu too, so maybe we might see Inasa, Shishikura (Meatball boy), and Camie again.
Also, Hagakure and Aoyama didn’t do anything though during the VS. Deku fight, so take that as you will.
Also Bakugo’s suddenly not featured at the end of the chapter, which is weird.
NOW BAKUGO OH MY GOD:
I really thought that we would have a Deku Vs. Kacchan Part 3 to be honest. I really thought we would. But no. We got an honest-to-god heart-to-heart between these two boys. And really, this is probably the best way to go about it. Maybe we’ll get some D VS. K Prt. 3 one day because there might be more to be said, but if this is how their friendship is truly mended, I’m cool with a 2-parter.
So, Bakugo basically lays EVERYTHING out on the table. How he’s felt like Deku’s always ahead of him, how frustrated he was, how scared he was, how insecure he was, and more beyond the surface. Ultimately, he apologizes for everything. He apologizes for over A DECADE of bullying. He even bows to Deku. He can barley look at Deku in the eye for the most part. This is not the same Bakugo from the beginning of the series. This is Katsuki Bakugo: a young man who took a long, harsh look in the mirror, learned from his flaws, decided to save the kid he bullied, and became a better person all because of it.
Bakugo also tells Deku that even though Deku did nothing wrong in going down this path, Deku needs him and his friends now. Deku can’t do this on his own anymore. Bakugo says him and the other will carry the burden with Deku. Save to Win and Win to Save 😭.
What I find interesting here is that in this part of his speech, Bakugo says that he and everyone else will carry Deku’s burden with him “In order to surpass All Might”. Bakugo’s ultimate goal has always been to surpass All Might and become the No. 1 Hero. That’s been established from the very beginning. And now, Bakugo will surpass All Might with his friends by his side. That’s growth, my dudes 🧡
Visually, this whole thing is done so beautifully! Just the way everyone is drawn and the expressions on the other student’s faces are really well done. Everyone’s either in shock or in awe of what they’re hearing coming out of Bakugo’s mouth. This is a side Bakugo hasn’t really shown anyone before (besides Deku, of course). The reaction that spoke most to me is actually Shoto’s 💙. He gets like 1 panel this chapter, but his face isn’t really in either shock or awe. It’s kinda unreadable, but I think ultimately it’s like an “I get it” sort of expression. Because Bakugo and Endeavor are so much alike. Shoto knows what it’s like to have someone in their life trying to atone for their actions. He gets it. Maybe, one day, Endeavor and Shoto can get there too.
This might be my favorite part of the chapter: During Bakugo’s apology, Horikoshi draws Deku and Bakugo as heroes, then kids, then as middle schoolers, then in their UA uniforms, and finally back in their hero costumes. Each time, Bakugo and Deku are framed face-to-face with Bakugo talking and Deku just staring in disbelief and awe like he’s trying to process what Bakugo’s saying. It isn’t until the final one when Bakugo and Deku finally meet eye-to-eye and you can see some light come back to Deku’s eyes. And finally Bakugo bows and apologize, even calling Izuku by name 😭💚🧡 It’s just so beautifully paneled and drawn. In the span of a few pages, Horikoshi manages to take us through Bakugo and Deku’s childhoods of conflict and insecurity to their heroic selves in present day. It’s like a quick recap of everything Bakugo and Deku have been through over the course of the series. Because even though My Hero Academia is ultimately Deku’s story, it’s Bakugo’s story too (which a little Shoto on the side). This feels like the culmination of their entire relationship and it’ll only get stronger from here too.
Lastly, as Deku is about to apologize for saying “You can’t keep up” because he realized his friends are actually ahead of him, he starts to pass out and BAKUGO RUNS UP TO CATCH HIM AS DEKU FALLS 🧡💚😭 WE DON’T EVEN SEE BAKUGO’S EYES HE JUST SAYS “WE KNOW” LIKE IS BAKUGO CRYING HORIKOSHI PLEASE!!!!! BAKUDEKU’S HOW WE FEELING??? 💥🥦
But for real, this is as close to a hug between these two as we’re probably going to get. There’s something so profound about this. Bakugo has been trying to push Deku away since the beginning. He even wanted to keep Deku at arm’s length so he can be protected even from Bakugo himself. And how these two are together again. No more pushing away.
Honestly, I loved this chapter 10/10! Peak character development, peak storytelling, peak fucking fiction! It does feel like we’re coming to a conclusion soon with the series. Ochako is accepting her feeling towards Deku more, Deku’s coming back to UA where the final battle will most likely take place, and Bakugo and Deku have mended their relationship as far as we know. Again, I would like to see a Part 3 to their ongoing fights, but I’m cool if this is where their conflict ends. It was really, really beautiful. Horikoshi’s writing has been top-notch with Bakugo and Deku. God, I’m truly going to miss this series when it’s done.
Me thoughtout the entiretly of Bakugo’s Apology:

ok, first draft of Doom!Sam (AweSamdude ) analysis post time!
from a previous post i just made:
ranboo may have ( maybe partially? i suspect not fully ) won!!
ranboo: “let me in the prison sam, please”
technoblade: “why is he taking ranboo into the prison?? “
-
ranboo: “i’ll take off my armor, i’ll take off my armor.”
sam: “take off all your armor”
and sam may be learning a bit finally, yay! even if it took him handing Dream at least two more* fucking victims first and fucking up. but still!
* tommy and ghostbur. also ranboo and even dream himself at this moment could be seen as victims of dream’s machinations while he’s in prison. and maybe even quackity n sam in a moral injury sort of way.
classpect flavored analysis incoming in a bit? hint: doom and life.
ok, but what tf did i mean by “he’s learning” ?
first, classpect time:
it may be sort of clumsy, or not quite on the money, because in part the homestuck aspects were developed for another story, or i may just be wrong - but Character!Sam (aka AweSamdude) is such a doom player/captor it hurts
- like the whole prt of his character that is willing to face and give out consequences for the greater good,
- the whole prison/warden thing as a whole which can be broken down more into seprate points probably,
- all the redstone! his capacity with building and intricate use of redstone structures, which are the in-universe version of electronics and computer code. which coding is heavily doom-flavored.
- maybe even more than the prison guard, maybe in even in his heart, though people tend to forget about it, he was the prison builder first.
- but also like.... the fact that he's a literal creeper. a mob capable of "going out with a bang" in true Captor style??
next part - and putting this bluntly because this isn’t a smooth draft, Sam is good (hearted) but has problems. not in the psych euphemism sense, but like o boy does he keep having and making more problems in his situation.
to quote:
even if it took him handing Dream at least two more* fucking victims first - * tommy and ghostbur. also ranboo and even dream himself at this moment could be seen as victims of dream’s machinations while he’s in prison. and maybe even quackity n sam in a moral injury sort of way.
if we’re going to look at this from a classpect pov, which we;ve already said we’re going to here, so let’s roll with it - there’s lots of shades of gray, but two major ways to fuck up and not end up using your aspect’s powers to it’s best - and not be your best, not in some hypothetical way but the best at being you.
Homestuck aspects deal a lot in the anima, so the two ways tend to be 1. over expressing (ignoring the bits of your opposite aspect that could make things truly shine, and how even dark things are connected under the surface) and going too far. or 2. misreading the situation and going in as your flipped opposite - nothing but anima and becoming inverted.
for over expressing, man this seems pretty obvious if we want to read things this way, he sure does manage to bring down a lot of doom on the people around him through his own mistakes, not just the people he wants to, and who should be bound because their actions harm others (Dream) but also bystanders or victims like ranboo, tommy, ghostbur.
but the case for inversion is also very interesting - the opposite of Doom is Life - and life as an aspect ( whereas doom is all about subtle understanding, limitation, sacrifice, and understanding rules well enough to break them) life is about empowerment, raw power, the same way life powers a body it drives to be able to do a million things it might want to do. sam is certainly confused and new at this at the beginning - and in a way he doesn’t just limit, he empowers! because he falls and becomes manipulated by quackity, sam empowers Dream himself by bringing him new victims through his incompetence, and moreso, he empowers quackity to do torture on Dream, day after day after day. in a way, he even empowers dream in an even weirder way. as sam points out in one of his good-hearted angry moments, parts of the prison were actually designed by Dream to torture his victims if he ended up imprisoning any. And by continuing these practices, it’s like Sam is allowing Past!Dream to torment Present!Dream, giving him one more victim.
and looking at this from an inversion standpoint, and looking at what i see of sam, here’s what i see. he visited tommy first and more than most in exile, he has a good heart, and i can hear it in his voice talking to ghostbur and tommy, and in his anger at dream’s plans to lock tommy in prison. But he also has this intricate mind that can build with redstone, and build the prison itself.
(and note, part of the following is influenced by me being a kinky mf’er, others may see it differently)
.... but he doesn’t see how they can go together. he doesn’t get how he can be a builder of locks and a good person. he sees the prison as a necessary evil that he’s willing to go along with (which is a sketchy attitude right there) but because of issues, can’t see any of the.... potential for actual positives? like when he grieves and blames himself for hurting tommy - he goes away to a very simple cabin far away, planting the simplest garden - just 8 squares big. to him the harm and the machinery are one. But subconciously he’s also doing things in a very coder-ly way. if you can’t figure out the solution, go back and make a simpler program. many people start out making a simple counting program in basic a!
once again, maybe this is me just being kinky, but ranboo also brought it up, sometimes locks can be useful, and obsidian and redstone lamps can be everything from foreboding to comforting. Though his general mistrust is right as incarceration is generally a horror. but his disconnection means he’s also missing out on little things he can do to make the situation better! Dream when he designed the prison sure as hell didn’t care about the safety of visitors or victims, and Sam isn’t stepping in yet and helping with that either.
this does rely on assuming control - and in stressful situations most people just act on instinct. but i know from martial arts, part of training for jobs like this is training for partial control in those circumstances, and to the extent it’s not just instinct, sam’s choices show some shady things about his values at the beginning of the arc.
to the extent he has that “control” - he has a mind that can build devices, and come up with finely crafted multi page contracts. he can add little things, if he’s willing to see the visitors as people more than Dream did. and listen to them.
if i could talk to Sam in universe, i would like to give him a hug, but also say that a mind that can work out the timing on a stack of 12 redstone timers in a row, can also change the timing of procedure to tell a visitor to take two steps back onto the bridge to safety, before pulling the bridge away. if a redstone system works, but in the process damages a precious part within it, it can be rebuilt.
(and if a certain someone wants to run “experiments”, experiments can benefit from designed protective equipment and controlled surroundings)
but he does have a good heart. and as for listening to people other than Dream....
“let me in the prison sam, please”
i think he might be getting it, if very slowly.

This analysis will contain MAJOR spoilers for the AoT series, so if you wish to not have anything spoiled be warned now. This is also not a FULL analysis of the series since it is so ridiculously plot heavy. It would take probably over 100 pages for me to get to everything I'd want to, so this is all for now :)
Summary:
Attack on Titan (AoT) follows the story of a civilization of people forced into living trapped behind walls due to the fear of the giant human-like creatures called titans who thirst for nothing but human flesh and blood. Titans have terrorized the remainder of humanity for many years and the population has been kept safe behind the 3 walls Maria, Rose, and Shina for an entire century. The main 3 characters of the story Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert witness the end of a century of peace as the colossal peeks above the 60-meter tall walls that have successfully protected humanity for 100 years and kick a giant hole in it, exposing all of the civilians to the horrors of the bloodthirsty titans. The 3 friends strive to become members of the survey corps, a group dedicated to protecting the people from titans and uncovering the many mysteries of the existence of titans; in order to reach their goals, they must complete grueling training to prepare them for venturing outside the walls to slaughter titans and bring the creatures to their extinction, but the duty of a corps member evolves being prepared for one’s likely and untimely death while fighting against the titans. AoT is a thought-provoking story that is based around perspectives and discovering the mysteries surrounding the near extinction of humanity. Questions are posed throughout as the plot is filled with twists and surprises, and morals are questioned as the viewers grapple with themes such as “do the means justify the ends?” and “who is the real enemy?”.
Analysis:
Part I: Erwin Smith
(MAJOR SPOILERS)
The Monstrous Commander
AoT is very morally complex in the sense that when an entire group of individuals risks their lives by going outside the walls to save humanity, an individual must lead the herd. Said individual goes by the name Erwin Smith, the commander of the survey corps. Erwin is an individual who must send thousands of his soldiers to their death during each expedition outside of the walls; Erwin’s a pretty morally gray character since his job is to ultimately save humanity but the question is at what price? Immeasurable sacrifices are made in the form of human lives as a successful expedition may result in the loss of more than 40% of the soldiers due to being devoured by titans. At an outward appearance, Erwin is a strong leader who is willing to become a monster in order to provide the eventual win of humanity over the titans, but when diving deeper into his character he is a man who is caught up in his childhood desire to learn all the answers to the mysteries about titans and the world that he lives in.
In these few panels, Armin Arlert picks apart how commander Erwin is an amazing leader despite what many people may believe since he has the ability to make sacrifices even though the outcome may be devastating as many lives will most likely be lost in the process. Armin’s opinion of a great leader is brought around again at different points in the story to emphasize its importance.
Part II: Eren Jaeger
The Boy who Wished for Freedom
Eren Jager is the main character of AoT and might be one of the most dynamic characters in his amazing character development throughout the story. Eren starts as a hotheaded teenager whose only desire is to eradicate all the titans after witnessing his mother and hundreds of people die after the collapse of wall Maria by the colossal and armored titans. His bloodthirst for killing the titans is unnerving in its intensity but he’s become dedicated to the cause because he no longer wishes to live like cattle enclosed in walls for the rest of his life. Eren’s core value throughout the entire series is freedom. Each and everything Eren does is to attain freedom in the hellish world he was born into. His value of freedom is most notably portrayed when Eren is out with his father Grisha Jaeger to visit the Ackerman family; Eren finds Mikasa in her home with the dead bodies of her parents accompanied by dangerous individuals attempting to kidnap her. Eren’s solution to the situation is to aid Mikasa in killing the individuals who have murdered her parents. The turn of events is quite frightening as both Mikasa and Eren were only 10 years old at the time, but it highlights Eren’s desire for freedom. He saw that Mikasa’s freedom was being threatened and he felt so passionately about this that he was not fazed at the prospect of killing the kidnappers who were trying to steal someone’s freedom.
Eren and Armin are able to bond over an illegal book that has drawings and descriptions of the world outside the walls and both boys instantly develop the desire to travel outside the walls to go see the vastness and beauty of the ocean. It serves as a goal to mark their eventual freedom from the terrors of the titans.
After the breaching of wall rose by the colossal titan the cadets experience their first real mission and witness many of their comrades die in the jaws of titans. Eren has headstrong and confident as ever lands himself into the stomach of a titan after protecting Armin from being eaten. Eventually, it is revealed that Eren can turn into the creatures he despises with his whole being. A titan. Following the discovery, Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are tasked with the challenge of trying to convince the leaders of the military factions that Eren is on humanity’s side and will not resort to killing more people. The major event is followed by many trials and questions in whether or not Eren is a threat to humanity until he is finally taken into the care of the survey corps where commander Erwin and “Humanity’s Strongest” Levi Ackerman are finally able to convince the military police to give them custody of Eren. It is concluded that Eren is to be kept alive as a comrade of humanity as he claims that his childhood home in wall Maria has a basement that holds secrets about the titans.
A Life that Carries Weight
As the story progresses, Eren goes from a headstrong hothead to a boy that carries an immense amount of weight on his shoulders. Eren realizes that his very life holds a great weight; many soldiers and civilians die for the small thread of hope that the Jaeger home’s basement holds important information about the titans that will lead to the victory of humanity. The world of AotT is nothing short of being bleak and void of hope so it is understandable that Erwin and other members of the corps are willing to take the risk because what do they have to lose? Up to this point, Eren has faced numerous great losses ranging from the death of his mother, learning how he caused the death of his father, his most trusted comrades being uncovered as traitors, etc. Eren’s mental state is in tethers as he tries to come to terms with the meaning and value of his life and begins to wonder if he was ever “special” to begin with but has been burdened by a special path of life by his father. All of these events take place in the royal government arc of the story. Historia Reiss (formerly known as Krista), a character who was previously only in the background assumes an important role as it is revealed that she is some of the last bit of true royal blood left in the world.
Following Historia’s growing importance to the story, we learn more about the titans and where they come from. I won’t get into all of the technicalities of the 9 titan powers and whatnot but the most important fact to note is that all titans existed as humans at some point in time. Due to the complexity of the topic, I will only graze the surface and state that humans become titans with an injection of spinal fluid from an individual of Eldian descent, this includes almost all of the humans that reside within the walls (I will come back to this sometime later). Rod Riess, Historia’s father has received help from the interior military police to capture his daughter and Eren to have Historia inherit the power of the attack titan which is currently held by Eren (was given to him by his father Grisha). Eren snd Historia learns that the 9 major titan powers are passed down when one consumes the individual possessing the power; this means Rod wishes to have Historia eat Eren so she gains the attack titan power, meaning the power will be in the hands of a pure royal and only those of royal descent can fully harness the power of the 9 titans.
Eren’s capture by Rod is marked by the total collapse of Eren’s mental fortitude as it all but crumbles when he discovers the crimes his father has committed and the consequences of his actions that have led Eren to shoulder such an enormous burden that the once confident boy has lost all hope in himself and his existence.
Now before I get into the next few parts of Eren’s development I have to address the powers of the attack titan, the power that Eren currently possesses. The individual who carries the power of the attack titan can see the memories of their future inheritors which equates to the user being able to see the future. Up to this point, it has been confirmed that only those of royal blood can fully utilize the 9 titan powers. can
Following the events between Rod Reiss, Eren, and Historia, Historia is tasked with taking the throne as the current king is a fraud. At Historia’s crowning ceremony and the ceremony to commemorate the few survivors of the battle at shiganshina where the corps was finally able to uncover the truth about the titans with the information in Eren’s basement, a simple touch of Historia’s hand grants Eren to fully use the power of the attack titan and the future is revealed to him.
The scene marks the complete loss of the Eren Jaeger the viewers are familiar with and marks a new chapter in the story because at this point forward quite literally everything changes.

1.I'm a multishipper but the more I visit the CA tag, the more I'm discouraged to ship it because apart from random gifsets and fanarts I'm not able to find a single essay, analysis etc that makes one bit of sense. Just idiotic posts twisting canon facts, clinging to unrelated stuff not part of the compilation and focusing on those 3-4 points that were already disproved over and over. Not to mention the obsession about Tifa/Cloti with repetitive post where they basically try to convince [cont]
In pt2 of my ask I said that these toxic CA fans try to convince themselves more than others with their repetitive posts how little T/CT mean to C and to the general plot while claiming "if A survives this time, T doesn't stand a chance with C" when everyone can clearly see that even with A still well and alive until now, CT are still doing great. I truly love CA, romantic or not, but I have eyes and I can see where the plot is going. Still, nothing stops me from liking a non canon ship.
3.Stuff that's not twisted or stolen from other ships, that doesn't include T/CT bashing to put CA on a pedestal and that focuses on the compilation instead of unrelated stuff? What do I get instead? Posts that obsess more on bashing T/CT than talking about CA, twisted canon material, biased translations and retarded posts bringing as proof the Titanic movie or the guy from the motel who apparently is Nojima's self insert. I deserve good stuff, not this shit. Just a "fake" CA speaking here...
Couldn't see a prt 2, so I hope tumblr didn't eat it.
Sorry that side of the fandom sucks. I mean, whenever I get linked stuff it doesn't even look like anybody is having fun. The obsession is with proving canon and shitting on Tifa. The only thing that gets repeated is the same few gifs and 4 events.
Even the Zerith tag has more positivity and their guy literally dies before the game even starts.
Meanwhile on our side is an outpouring of love, fun and positivity. There's inclusion of every chapter, every event. There's love for all the characters. Maybe not as much as Cloti, but it's a Cloti community. Still hasn't stopped me making posts about Barret or getting asks about him or Marle. Hell, I even covered Roche because even though other people bashed him I thought he's hella amusing and deserved a deeper look into what his role meant.
We're having fun with the whole game, which is the point of them making a whole game.
Oh, the motel guy. I keep saying it's not Nojima, but not for the reason they think. Do they really wanna cling to that still? A literal reference to their blatant racism?
It's a whitewashed Nojima.
Because what even is ethnicity to these people? They really think the constant bashing of the "Asian looking character" flew by the devs? Who are Asian? They know. They see it. All of wall market throws all the shade at them. A fake Nojima calling Cloud and Aerith a sweet looking couple is meant to be taken as another fake.
Because Nojima isn't white and is the king of Cloti.
I dunno why I even use that gif that asks if people played the game because they clearly didn't and they also "forget" that SquareEnix HQ is in Japan. They're a Japanese company. Which, shockingly, is mostly staffed by Japanese people.
Yeah, nonny, you deserve good stuff, not the twisted garbage you get, because there is actually good content with Aerith. It's just not Cloud and Aerith content beyond friendship. Which is fine because friendship is important to both of them and they deserve to have friends. If people just took their dumbass lead feet off the gas they'd see all the good things that actually are in the game. Because they don't, their bs forces people like me to focus on debunking their bullshit instead of showing where the good stuff is. And sorry not sorry I'm not gonna either because I don't help racist assholes out.
Tumblr did eat part 2, but it was sent again.

first of all no there is nothing to be said for sophia's "flavor of brutality" because she's, and i reiterate, portrayed as an animalistic, predatory, violent black girl from a poor family who acts as the setting's sole demonstration of how police brutality functions (i.e state-sponsored brutalizing of people considered societally acceptable to hurt to maintain preexisting systems of oppression). which fucking blows, because 1. she's a massively racist trope and 2. she is literally the exact demographic that's actually targeted by police brutality irl. she's not interesting or distinct, she has Evil Bully Stock Image Dot Jpeg levels of characterization! she very clearly demonstrates that wildbow vaguely thinks police brutality is bad but can't even grasp the most basic facts of who perpetuates it and who it targets or refrain from a racist stereotype in the process of trying to portray it--"problematic" is an annoyingly vague and useless phrase to wheel out for literary analysis, but if we must use it here, she's not "problematic" (intentionally morally gray character), she's "problematic" (literally just written in a blatantly racist way).
also glory girl's writing sucks too. the thing where she goes after nazis is not even remotely comparable to who police actually target. it's portrayed in this insufferably ambiguous way where the issue is supposed to be that she's doing violent vigilante justice and not that she's, y'know, abusing her position of power to brutalize ppl it's considered acceptable to hurt. it's just flat incoherent and inaccurate. which is why in my hypothetical imaginary sophia/madison swap i alter glory girl so that she's still going after nazis out of some vague philosophy that "my job is to punch people with the force of a truck until it improves society + nazis are bad and make society worse = i should be allowed to go punch nazis and surely even if it's a bit off the books the prt will let me because heroes do off the books things all the time." and then she does actually get in trouble for it because nazis are, generally speaking, something policing structures Uphold. & subsequently falls sort of obliviously in line because she can't get over the idea that Cops Good Villains Bad and meting out punitive justice on behalf of the state will still fix things even if they're not letting her go after the really bad guys. which might be a dumb writing choice i dunno but i like the idea of madison illustrating the very straightforward brutality and glory girl demonstrating how like. well-intended liberals are also responsible 4 enacting violence from the state and just quietly disagreeing in her head doesn't actually change the material harm the totally-not-racially-biased ABB crackdown she's participating in while E88 gets the kid gloves is doing
i'm just saying shit but i think if you swapped sophia out with madison (i.e made madison the one secretly doing police brutality) it would make literally everything wildbow was trying to say about police brutality using sophia better
#i got like 4 hours of sleep i have no diea what any o the words in this pos tsay lmao#worm spoilers
