the ONLY time that you actually have to genderswap a song to fit your gender is if the song is inherently gay and you have to change the lyrics to keep it gay

for example, this gorgeous cover of chappell roan's "good luck babe" by zach tay

if a song is not gay and you change the lyrics to make it gay that's also cool. if you're trans and you want to change the lyrics for the gender euphoria that's chill. all other instances seem cowardly to me but I'm open to further discussion
