In a fairytale

I was not meant to survive.

Mother killed me like only a god can be killed. She shattered me beyond repair, so much that i diseappeared into fifteen different people.

But it seems like someone, or something, had something else to say.

I became an egg. And as silly at is sounds, I really, really thought it was a good thing.

I wanted to be alive again. And just like in a fairy tale, knights in shining armor came to save me.

Oh, they didn't know that. And I didn't want them to know. They were thinking that bringing me to Aksin's Forge was going to kill me. Break me on Fate's Anvil, and the world would be saved.

Because nobody wants Chaos. Nobody wants the silly little colorful child to laugh.

Mother knows best. Mother knows i'm too much of a rebel to be alive. She loves good, obedient soldiers. She loves Death, she loves Order, she loves everyone but myself.

A long time ago, I think it hurted me to think about it.

One of the knights looks like me.

When i try to pull some strings on her, she resists. Claims the mission is more important. She talks back. I like that.

They want to destroy me, why...Why am i getting attached to them like this ?

Technically speaking, she's the granddaugther of a part of me, too. It's a really weird situation. But, after all...

This sadness in her eyes.

I can understand it.

She reminds me of Order. But, better.

We arrive at Aksin's forge. It's nearly the end. I know what waits for me behind those doors. Death, or dishonor. And I choose dishonor any day.

Just like a fairytale, death is everywhere. Those corpses were killed because of my foolishness. Because Mother didn't want me to be fixed, because she wanted me to disappear.

She never forgave me for helping those in need.

Chaos doesn't discriminate. Chaos doesn't hate. Chaos is the same for everyone, and for the well fed, the privileged, it might seem like something bad. For me, it's the natural order of things.

The doors open. I see her, Order, or what is left of her. Why wouldn't she be there, after all ? If I have survived, even a tiny bit, she did too.

I am Chaos.

I want to live.

So I jump in when she's weak. And i eat her. Simple as that. Maybe there is a tiny bit of collateral in the way, what is the point of thinking about it ?

In a fairytale, I would be the monster, mh ? A monster that needs healing. That needs love.

Why are you looking at me like that ?

Aren't we friends ?

Why would friends want to kill me ?

Especially you, Lubell.

Why are you making this face ?

I am whole again ! The quest is over ! I am happy, you are happy, everything is great isn't it ?

It says something about the spirit of the hero that the first Link was literally Such A Scoundrel. Hylia's first chosen running around breaking chandeliers and antiques for the in universe equivalent of 5 dollars. Sometimes it even COSTS him money to bust into some woman's house and destroy all her precious ceramics and boy oh boy does that not stop him. Sets the local bully up with a spooky ghost girl gf because fuck you. Put a chest in front of him and tell him Absolutely Under No Circumstances Open it, immediately getting his grubby little hands all over it. Half the dialogue options are just the choice to be the most Sarcastic Little Shit. And he's STILL comes off as the calm, serene, levelheaded one of the family.

[Darius relaxing in the passenger seat of Ben’s van. Large footsteps approach causing the Dino ornament on the rear view mirror to bounce. Darius looks in the rear view mirror to see a glimpse of something]

[Darius turns to the driver side to see he’s alone]

Darius: Ben?!

[The footsteps stop and a shadow falls on the passenger window. Darius turns round in his seat and is met with an Allosaurus]

Allosaurus, in Brooklynn’s voice: Darius.

[Darius is frozen as the van disappears from under him, leaving him on the ground. Defenseless]

Allosaurus, still in Brooklynn’s voice: You said you’d be here.

[Darius unable to speak, sits in terror at the theropod circling him. Until the Allosaurus roars, mixed with Brooklynn’s screams, lunging at him. Darius throws his hands up in a useless effort to protect himself.]

Unknown Voice: Darius!

[Darius is shaken away by Ben, who is keeping his eyes on the road while driving. The grip on his shoulder is firm and almost painful, but grounds him from his night terror.]

Ben: You good, bud? You were having a bad dream.

[The screen changes to black with text meant to be read as Darius]

Darius, off screen: Yea… I’ll be fine.

According to Gooseworx, Jax as a song is "Don't Fence Me In..."

Looking at Jax as someone who wants and values freedom above anything else definitely clarifies /why/ he would be drawn to something like TADC. His impulsive actions that prioritize instant gratification above everything else can be seen as him embracing the “freedom” of the digital world. But it also introduces an interesting contradiction as TADC is a place defined by its constraints.

In TADC, you can't change your appearance. You can't decide what to eat or when. You can’t swear or smoke or have sex. You can’t change the lighting or temperature. You can't age or die. Every day is the same and what is allowed is beyond your control, ultimately decided by people you don't know and will never meet.

Looking at it this way, being trapped in TADC is hell for Jax because of the constraint it imposes upon him. To cope, he immerses himself in what TADC offers - a chance to act in ways that would be unfeasible without considerable risk of repercussion IRL. But these actions are also a constant reminder of what TADC cannot provide him - genuine freedom.

So my roommate is also into One Piece. I’m not sure if he’s watched any of the anime, I know for sure he’s watched the live action, but earlier tonight he came upstairs and watched a few episodes with me while waiting for a food delivery, and then he got hooked, and then he sat and watched MORE episodes with me without really knowing what was going on. But it was still wildly entertaining to him, esp since I’m right in the middle of one of the (arguably) best arcs rn, and now he wants to finish the arc with me LOL. NOBODY is immune to One Piece propaganda. Or Bon-chan 🥰
