Volume on: this is what is heard from the loudspeakers in the mosques in the Jenin refugee camp.
Happy Hanukkah
The song is - “go away darkness and flee from the light!”

question: whats the difference between Hanukkah and Chanukah? are they the same thing??? is it spelled different for different places?? im confused-
okay, disclaimer: i am not jewish myself so please correct me if im wrong here. chanukah and hanukkah are both different spellings of the same thing as they are transliterations of the hebrew word חנוכה. The different spellings exist because 1. there doesn't really exist an english equivalent to some of the sounds, 2. different Jewish groups pronounce the word differently. In Ashkenazic tradition ח is pronounced as /x/ which has no english equivalent (i have heard it described as similar to someone clearing their throat or the german 'ch' sound if that means something to you). Ashkenazim prefer chanukah because ch has been used to represent /x/ in other words already. Sephardim pronounce the ח in חנוכה closer to h though, so they prefer the hanukkah spelling. The difference between the amount of ks comes from whether one also transliterates a diacritic (dagesh) which in some grammatical contexts in hebrew indicates a doubling of the consonant (as in the english word bookkeeper).
i had exactly that question two days ago so here is my source link (this is basically a transcription of what i learned from there)
fun fact: there are many more ways to spell chanukah! these two are just the most popular!

Just a cute Chanukah song by Woody Guthrie :) I'd guess he wrote it either for his kids or to perform for local Jewish communities.

one of my favorite things ever is people singing songs to me in a language they don't know. such whimsy and joy in their voice and laughter when they know they fumbled some of the lyrics but continue on anyway

So tonight we scream into the shadows So tonight we keep this flame alive In this fight we have us and we have hope Hear us now, we say, Am Yisrael Chai

To the tune of "O Canada"
O Chanukah, a joyous holiday; Latkes we eat, and dreidl we shall play. In honor of great miracles, the menorah shines each night; There’s nothing else like Chanukah, the festival of lights. God gives the Jews eight crazy nights; O Chanukah, the festival of lights! O Chanukah, the festival of lights!
