This is so so real, there’s like this traveling bookbinded “all the young dudes” that’s slowly going around my community, I’m not really into the maurauders but I’m tempted to try getting it next so that I can read fanfics on Shabbat

Anon dude if you don’t wanna listen to Jewish music don’t go to a Jewish store lol??
A lot of Jewish stores play insufferable religious music that all sounds the same and usually is male voices only even in female only clothing stores. It turns me off from the community. Why are religious people afraid of Celine Dion?
We live in a world where you can be forced to listen to the same like 5 crappy Xmas songs sung by different people over and over again for at least an entire month every year in even the most secular stores, and your complaint is that Jewish stores play Jewish music. 🤨

My favorite thing ever is making connections with my stories, I just realized one of my magical girl characters story parallels something we do on Shabbat and I’m so giddy over it

Honestly I think you’re a great person to speak on it, you’re in the conversion process already so you see what’s really going on.
Is it just my feed or is like 80% of Jewish posts on here from people wanting to convert and like hardly any posts outside of frumblr are from Jews or those who’ve fully converted?? Just an observation but it’s still kinda strange to me lol, if it is my feed im even more confused considering how ive never reposted or posted anything regarding conversions???

Whys that hidden in the tags!!
No but you’re absolutely right, we’re a spectacle to people, not really seen as real human beings
The ~aesthetic~ photos of historical and/or Orthodox Jews but instead they’re just of Some American Non-Jewish Guy in the modern day US

Oh my gosh I’m obsessed with this comment, it is so so important to me especially since I grew up being the frum girl with a more “creative fashion sense” to show how being religious doesn’t mean that you have to compromise on fashion.
It always upset me in media (frum media cause let’s be honest we’re nonexistent in goyiche media) that there’s a very boring uniform. Women have an obligation to beautify ourselves, media should reflect that instead of being lazy. Clothing is such an important tool for character development, especially in teen girls. So I’m taking up the challenge with this story to show the girls exploring their fashion like real teen girls do ;)
I wanted to draw my magical girls again, here’s some summer and winter outfits (all tzniut duh)
I fear I may or may not have become juuust a little obsessed with them (I have a whole binder dedicated to them and their story now)

Seriously!! I’m like super super allergic to dairy and there’s stuff that’s OUD that I can eat totally fine because it’s only DE, I just read the ingredients everytime to make sure the recipe hasn’t changed
(possibly) controversial opinion but marking something dairy that was made on dairy equipment but has no actual dairy ingredients is more confusing than just marking it as dairy equipment.

^^^^^^^ !!!!!!!!
Look I’m just gonna say that I’ve seen jews say things that are literally antisemitic conspiracy theories against us and because we’re religious “it’s fine”, you can’t repurpose antisemitism just because you have someone easier to turn it against
why is it okay to claim orthodox judaism, original and traditional judaism, is inherently wrong, offensive, right wing, demeaning to non orthodox jews, etc?
all movements STEMMED from orthodox judaism. idk what to tell you all but treating the orthodox like this is absolutely disgusting.
and no, i’m not even orthodox.
you may disagree with halacha but i’m sorry, it’s ancient and yes some of it may make you uncomfortable today. doesn’t mean you get to shit on it and act like anyone who adheres to it is ignorant.
prospective converts doing this is particularly disturbing.
if christians or any other non jews (who arent in giyur) talked like this, you would call them out. why is it fine when fellow jews and conversion students do it?

Why is it that in media the only form of Judaism being portrayed positively or even neutrally is almost always very reform Judaism or very very secular?
Nothing is necessarily wrong with providing representation for either of these, but when that is exclusively the positive representation we're getting, it becomes a problem.
I'm not saying this happens 100% of the time but I am finding it difficult to think of any representation made even somewhat recently.
Why is there almost no representation of the Jews who aren't "like everyone else but just happen to be Jewish". Yes, there are many Jews who are that way, and it's great that there's representation for those types of Jews!
But it should not be so rare to have representation for tzniut Jews or shomer negiah Jews or strict kashrut Jews. (Or all of the above plus more!) By not providing positive representation for more "socially inconvenient" (so to speak) Jewish practices, people who aren't exposed to it start seeing it as "backwards", which is unacceptable.
This is made worse by the fact that the only mainstream orthodox representation that does exist is of people trying to leave it and live a more secular lifestyle.
I've already made a post on this topic but bad Jewish representation has been on my mind again lately.
#tired of this stuff#just once I want to be able to see myself in media outside of just the frum world

It’s so strange being able to use electricity specifically for devices like phones and similar during Tisha b’av because it just feels so mundane, it’s literally the saddest day of the year and I’m scrolling on freaking Instagram?? It feels so shallow, this is galut, it’s the saddest day, we’re mourning our Beit Hamikdash but it doesn’t feel real because instead of putting all the focus on that, the focus is on anything else
#im not saying people shouldn’t go online I’m just saying that to me it just feels fake#tisha b'av#frumblr

Did anyone ever like attempt to document and compile the variations of Barney the dinosaur murder ballads across the elementary school system in the early 2000s. Like legit it has always fascinated me as a phenomena and I would love to know if there were like traceable regional variations or what.
#I don’t see anyone mentioning the one I grew up with but it went like#I hate you you hate me let’s get together and kill Barney with an x16 and a bullet to the head hahahaha Barney’s dead#and we always ended it by saying sweetly ‘I hate you Barney 🥰’
