Packing for a holiday has never been my favourite thing to do. So, having to pack my own stuff plus anything Lizzie might need was a real challenge. And I totally over-packed as Lizzie didn't wear half the things in her suitcase, but at least we were prepared 🤣 Our favorite travel gadget was the @inglesinababy high chair. It's great and it fit all the tables we used from a plastic picnic one to a big wooden one with a lip. While I’m in the depths of despair having had only a few hours sleep over the past few days, struggling to breast feed two babies, struggling with the overwhelm of the mental load that’s put on us as mothers, ready to pack a bag and leave Don’t sit there and tell me “just you wait” Don’t give me that toxic bull sh*t that the older they get the worse it gets. Yes I’m aware that life isn’t fluffy clouds, unicorns & rainbows but having the mindset that motherhood is harder the older they get. That’s damaging. Telling a mum who’s ready to give up her babies that all this sh*t she’s dealing with now well that’s nothing compared to what’s coming. That is harmful. Motherhood is hard. Yep. There are parts of motherhood that can bring you to your knees. Illness, heart ache, their first breakup, watching go through something you just can’t help with. Etc But that day to day stuff. That day to day chaos. It doesn’t have to feel hard. If you have the mindset that it gets worse the older they get, then it’s gonna be worse. If you move your mindset to that of life has ups and downs regardless of age the mindset that you have strength and resilience and are teaching that to your children. Then magic can happen. So don’t subscribe to the notion it gets worse. Subscribe to the fact you get stronger, & you grow together. Side note. - I’m no longer there. Going out changes after having a baby. Last year I missed the beer festivals for the obvious reason of being pregnant, but I went again this year as Lizzie is enjoying the bottle more than the breast at the moment. Today was the first time since I went back on #maternityleave as a part of #sharedpatentalleave that I disregarded Lizzie's nap schedule and her growing dislike of napping in the pram (Oh why??) and took her across London to join her dad at Ealing Beer Festival. After all we can't always be held prisoners of the baby's nap schedule (well, I'll pay for that tomorrow when she wakes up at 5am again 😒). Literally pure unimaginable joy is what this boy has brought into our lives. He’s changed so much over these 4 months and I can see so much personality coming through. My ever smiling happy little duckling! Bathtime has become quite the game for him.
