“Morning,” Changkyun whispered.
Seeing him lying next to me, inches away from my face, was shocking. I screamed and stumbled to get out of the bed.
“What the—why are you here?”
“In my bedroom?” He asked me while laughing, “Sorry, our bedroom”
I shook my head, “But I locked the door.”
He laughed again. “I have a key, of course”
One moment of peace, that’s all I'm asking for.
“Get back here, it’s still early.” His arms reached out to me.
Not. A. Chance. He gave me a pout. “No, I’m good.” I crossed my arms over my chest, was it always this cold in the house?
Changkyun watched me try the door; it wouldn't open. I whipped around to look at him, jiggling the handle loudly. He raised his eyebrows, waiting for me to ask properly. “Why won’t it open?” I demanded, ending softly so as not to provoke him.
“I locked it,” he answered simply, now sitting up, one hand resting on the bed where I had been.
I could feel my stress levels rising. I’m locked in a room with this psycho. And apparently, he can lock and unlock any door. Whereas I am becoming progressively more and more helpless. It was one thing to be sitting in the open floorplan of the kitchen-dining-living room downstairs. But here, it was as if the walls were closing in on me.
“Come back to me.” He requested.
Obeying felt like throwing away my dignity, but I was in constant fear it would be that or my life. My skin crawled as I climbed back onto the bed, almost falling off the edge to sit as far away as possible. Too close. Still too close. His face brightened and he tugged harshly on my arm, pulling me toward him. Manhandling me as he saw fit.
“This makes me so happy, you know.”
“I know.” I sighed, feeling utterly defeated. My back to his chest as he played with my hands.
For an hour, we sat like that. Or at least, I thought it was an hour. There wasn’t a clock in the bedroom. There wasn’t a clock in most of the rooms, except for the kitchen. Time seemed to drag on–more so with Changkyun here than before. Thankfully, he didn’t make me talk much, mostly just rambled to himself. I even managed to block him out at some points.
“--beakfast.” I heard, snapping back from zoning out.
Changkyun lifted me slightly, just enough to move me out of his lap, positioning me beside him, and got out of bed.  He must have said something along the lines of ‘Let’s have breakfast.’ I smirked and silently congratulated myself on being able to drown him out.
“Your smile is beautiful.” He grinned at me. “I told you, you would be happy here. I’ll make you happy.”
I had let my guard down. When I looked back up from my hands I’d punched the bed with, Changkyun was looking back at me, taking off his shirt.
“What are you doing!?” I looked away.
“Uh… getting dressed.”
“Go into the bathroom or something,” I shouted at him, averting my eyes.
Changkyun chuckled, “My y/n, so innocent and shy.”
He took some clothes and walked them to the bathroom. Despite it being him who was shirtless rather than me, I felt violated. Get me out of here.
“Are you not going to change?” He asked, re-entering the bedroom. “Wait,” he threw his pajamas, “I know just what you should wear!” He rifled through the dresser. Great, he had my whole wardrobe memorized now?
“I can find something mys–”
“No, this is perfect.” He held out a bulky sweatshirt of mine. “Then we can match,” he beamed.
I glanced from his excited expression, to the baggy white sweats he was wearing. “Great, we can match.” I mumbled sarcastically.
“Like a real couple,” he mused; I took the clothes he was holding out to me.
Gag me, I whispered.
“What was that?”
“Nothing, I’ll change, and uh meet you downstairs.”
He offered to wait for me, but when I assured him on how hungry I was, he rushed downstairs instead. I can’t get a grip on his personality. He’s so hot and cold. It's as if my tone could determine his whole state of being. But he also didn’t seem to care as long as I was saying what he wanted to hear. This is limbo. A continuous state of high tension, confusion, and most importantly, never ending mental torture. As easy as he was to set off, it was just as easy to please him.
I sat alone in the room after getting dressed. I needed to be alone to sort out my thoughts. What I wouldn’t give to at least step outside. I should have pushed through my drowsiness last night. Tried the doors or tied him up when he slept. Surely Changkyun would have to go back to work eventually, right? I just have to wait it out until then. If I spend this time learning about Changkyun, learning about the house, maybe I could find some way out. Or at least get a key to one of the locked doors. I had begun to understand why all the cleaning supplies were locked away.
The quiet was nice... To be away from Changkyun’s delusions. And then, of course, cue the bedroom door opening. Changkyun looked concerned as he had been calling out my name, “You haven’t come down for breakfast, is something wrong?”
He can’t be left alone for five minutes. “Just starting my morning off slow.” I answered although it was perfectly normal for me to have held back a couple minutes and needed absolutely no explanation.
“Oh… okay… But I want you to come downstairs now.” This was not a request but a demand.
“Coming,” I stood up.
“I love that we’re matching.” He repeated.
“I know you do,” I signed, following him down the stairs.
“How about pancakes,” Changkyun suggested when we walked into the kitchen together. I shrugged. He stared back blankly.
“Sure.”
“I’m so excited to cook with you! You don’t know how long I’ve waited for this!”
Domesticity, I groaned, silently of course. “Changkyun I–”
“Yes love?”
My final straw, “I don’t want to cook with you,” I burst out. “I don’t want to match clothes with you! I want to go home!” I shouted at him while we walked. He did not look pleased.
“I think we need to talk,” was all Changkyun said. However, he was very deliberately directing me to sit down at the table. I don’t know what overcame me, I was becoming just as turbulent as him,
“No,” and possibly a little cocky.
His eyes widened. “I’m telling you to take a seat. It looks like you’re forgetting your place here.” Clutching my shoulder roughly, he walked me to the table. After pushing me down into one of the chairs, he added, “And that place is under my thumb,” for emphasis.
Fisting a handful of my hair, Changkyun forced me to look up at him. “When I ask you to do something, you do it.” His grip loosened and he let his hand glide through my hair. “I’m taking such good care of you,” he traced my jawline.
“My home is much better than where you were living before, and I’ve supplied you with anything you’d need. And I’ve not gotten so much as a ‘thank you’ from you. I even transported you here comfortably,” he was now smoothing my hair back and staring through me. “...tied up all your loose ends. You were bored of your job. And your family? How much have you thought about them really, since you got here?”
Every moment of every day. In fact, I even wrote them letters in case I never make it out of here.
“It’s time you stopped being so combative." he continued refocusing cupping my cheek and soothing my cheekbone with his thumb, "It was cute when you acted like that with other men, but I’m really not interested in it anymore. We’ve had a rocky start, but it will make our story all the more romantic. Now, kiss me and I’ll forgive you.” He closed his eyes and smiled, showing off his dimples.
I stared blankly and we sat there for a minute. He huffed and rolled his eyes, I felt like I was in a cringy coming of age argument.
“I guess I wasn’t clear enough. When I ask you to do something, you jump at the chance to fulfill my request.” He grabbed me by the jaw and forced a kiss on me. “See? That wasn’t so hard now, was it?” He whispered against my skin. “I forgive you,” He punctuated this with a pat on my head. He pulled away to hold me at arm's length by my shoulders, “I could never stay mad at you. Now let’s make breakfast.”
And so, Changkyun gets everything he wants.
Doing anything with Changkyun was a painful ordeal. He didn’t make anything easy. At one point he threw flour at me. I cringed and laughed to cover my blatant agitation. I imagined what would happen if I poured milk on him… probably best not to find out.
“Jagiya,” I didn’t realize I had zoned out again, while he handled the stove, ‘don't want you accidentally burning yourself.’ When I refused to answer to his pet names, he called out my name, “--I’m speaking to you.”
“Yes?”
“You don’t look like you're having fun.” I’m not. Changkyun gazed at me with disappointment.
“No,” I did my best to preserve the peace. “No, I’m having so much fun” I dipped my finger in the batter and swiped it across his cheek, “...with you.”
He looked slightly shocked, and then burst into a smile and started giggling. Honestly, that felt like a 50/50 shot. I joined him in laughing, though mostly out of relief. He cupped my face, with a sincere look in his eyes. Now I laughed genuinely. I couldn’t take him seriously with the batter smeared on his face,
“You look ridiculous” I blurted out. This obviously hurt him. He thought we were having a moment and I quite literally laughed in his face. “Uh, because of your face.” I was not remedying the situation. He pulled away. “I mean because of this.”
I grabbed him and aggressively wiped at his face. This only made more of a mess. Twice now, I've touched him voluntarily, and my hand burned because of it. Not that I was keeping count–he probably was though.  He froze, and coughed awkwardly–or, more likely, because of the smoke billowing off the pan on the stove.
Twice as flustered now, “Go over there, don’t breathe in the smoke, it's bad for you.” Changkyun prompted me to leave the kitchen. I obeyed, at least I don't have to clean it up. In the meantime, I made my way to the bathroom down the hall and looked at my reflection in the mirror.
“He is despicable.” I looked myself in the eyes. “He’s not friendly, he’s dangerous. A loose cannon and a criminal. Remember twenty minutes ago? Do not feel bad for hurting his feelings. He deserves every insult in the book, he is a monster.” After a couple more minutes of reminding myself Changkyun did not deserve me trying my hardest, I re-entered the kitchen.
“Sorry I ruined breakfast,” Changkyun looked at me with a discouraged expression.
“It’s not ruined, there's still some batter left!”
“If you like them with a little smoke.”
“It just gives them an edge. Besides, there wasn’t that much smoke.” I was already back on my bullshit, and he didn’t even seem convinced. And then it hit me–how stupid I was. I hacked out a fake cough, “On second thought…” This made him panic. “Maybe we should open a window?”
He guided me out of the kitchen. “The windows don’t open.” He laughed incredulously.
“Oh… Right,” I chuckled, “Then maybe the back d–”
“No.” he said sternly.
We wound up in the library and didn’t speak, but I knew better than to try and leave when he shut the door purposefully behind us. Choosing to sit in the chair by the window, I drank in the midmorning sunlight. I wasn’t sure why he was so quiet, but busied myself reprimanding myself for falling for his puppy dog eyes and self-deprecation.
At some point he left; I stayed, so as not to look like I was following him. Eventually, he came back. I tried to act like I didn’t notice, like I was too wrapped up in this book, but the truth is I was painfully aware of his every move. My head ached from the hypervigilance, and it's been forever since I ate last. The sun and barred windows came together to cast harsh shadows on the floor, it must be past noon now.
Changkyun broke the silence, “This isn’t how I wanted to spend our first full day together.” That’s right, it’s only been a total of one full day. He crossed the small room to kneel in front of me, “please don’t ignore me.” This sounded much more like a plea than usual, and he placed his hands gently on my knees, “I ordered us something.”
I looked down my nose at him, doing my best not to shudder from his touch. Hopefully, he thinks I’m waiting for him to stop talking so I can carry on reading.
“Since apparently neither of us can be trusted to cook,” he let out a weak laugh, and looked away. I am not impressed. I know I’m most likely testing his patience, but I could get used to openly showing my disgust for him. “I’m sorry for putting you in danger. I never want you to be uncomfortable,” He looked away.
I raised an eyebrow, so this is why he was being so mild, he thinks I’m upset with him? Danger? Uncomfortable? A little smoke’s not gonna kill me. I rolled my eyes, internally of course. And don’t even get me started on being uncomfortable.
“The smoke’s all gone,” he said hopefully.
I would assume so, it’s not like the house was on fire. I brushed his hands off of me, “Is the food here?”
“Any minute now,'' he reports, delighted.
Gently, he plucks the book out of my hand and places it on the windowsill. I try to tug my hand away, but he already has a merciless grip on me, accompanied by a blissful smile on his face. I let him guide me into the kitchen while he rattled on about “Sorry” and “we’re so silly” and other things about us that he made up, like how similar we are.
Lunch passed slowly also; except this time, I wasn’t allowed to leave when I was done. Although, I learned some things about Changkyun: he is a nepo baby, he travels relatively often, he's wildly obsessed with me, and his favorite color is purple (although it is unclear whether or not that is because it’s my favorite color). Of course, those were all things he told me. On inference, I learned he’s relatively estranged from his family, he’s a homebody, and him thinking I’m upset with him is much more propitious than me actually being upset with him. In other words, the cold shoulder is highly effective.
Since lunch was so late, I requested that I skip dinner. He did not oblige so I picked at my food and sat with him. We got onto the topic of hobbies which I thought was pointless because he made an effort to brag about how much he knew about me. This morphed into hobbies I should take up.
“You know what you need?” I stared at him. “To brush up on your Korean.” Brush up? I didn’t know any. “Not that it’ll be anytime soon, but when I go to work, I want you studying. And then we could talk to each other in Korean.” He swooned.
“Are you fluent?” He nodded; obviously happy I was inquiring about him. But that was the extent of the questions I asked.
And so the day crawled to a close, ending with us arguing about him leaving the room while I showered–I won after appealing to him: I’m, “still so shy. It’s cute.” I ended up leaving the shower running so I could fall asleep alone.

Legal Affairs - Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Synopsis: You and Wonho’s dinner date gets crashed
Word count: 2.9k
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You didn’t give Hoseok your bag as you two made your way out of the building to your car in silence. He watched in concern as you rubbed your shoulder before you sat down to drive. Maybe he should’ve offered to drive you two in one of the company cars.
As you drove, Hoseok pulled out his phone to Google some restaurants in the area that might appeal to you.
“Do you want to have dinner tonight? Like a celebratory dinner?” Hoseok asked as you eased onto the main road.
“Sure, I’m free, but what are we celebrating?” You asked nonchalantly even though a part of you was secretly hoping it would be something similar to what happened a few nights ago.
“The case?” Hoseok asked not looking up from his phone. He already had around eight tabs open for possible restaurants.
“The case won’t be over until the courts formally inform us you’re no longer a person of interest. The investigation is still technically ongoing.” You looked over at him when you stopped at a traffic light.
Hoseok turned to meet your gaze and you suddenly found it hard to look him in the eye. “Alright, but let’s go somewhere nice.”
You chewed your lip. Could your bank account handle that? “Will this be like a business dinner? Did you have something you wanted to discuss with me?”
“Well yes, I just want us to have dinner together, we can talk business whenever.”
“So a friendly dinner then?” You asked to clarify.
“Sure, friendly,” Hoseok said, giving a thin lipped smile.
You sighed dejectedly. “Well then, I can’t go somewhere nice because I’ve sort of used up my going out budget for this week.”
Hoseok scoffed. “I asked you to have dinner with me, not pay for my dinner.”
“Hoseok, I don’t even know if I will be able to pay for my own meal if we go somewhere nice. Plus, wouldn’t we need a reservation and stuff?” You said, a little frustratedly.
While you focused on the road again, Hoseok’s eyes roamed over your features that were set in a serious look of focus. “Y/n, just let me take you out to dinner. Anywhere you want.” His voice was quieter this time, almost on par with the aircon, like he was pleading.
You were quiet for a moment. You desperately wanted to say yes to Hoseok, but encouraging his affections? And letting him foot the bill for an expensive dinner? You decided to compromise. “Hoseok,” you began slowly, “how about we go somewhere nice but not expensive? Like maybe a nice pizza joint?”
You glanced quickly at Hoseok to see he didn’t look as offended as you worried he would be. Instead, he had a soft smile on his face. “Sure, if pizza is what you want.”
Jia signed the NDA without so much as a glance at its contents, though this didn’t frighten you because you knew she’d signed multiple NDAs for various lawyers. Obviously, she made her trademark quips.
“You should get her something nice tonight,” Jia said to Hoseok while you put the NDA papers back in your bag.
“Would you believe me if I said I offered to take her out to dinner but she refused?” Hoseok laughed. He got along well with Jia.
“Well you should do something nice because she had a very difficult day, didn’t you y/n?” Jia cooed at you.
“Believe me, I would love to, if only she’d let me,” Hoseok replied to Jia while looking pointedly at you.
“Guys, I am right here.” You looked between them.
Jia affectionately patted your arm and kept talking to Hoseok. “Between you and me, she spent two-point-sev...”
“Jia, shut up. Hoseok, let’s go to dinner,” you said and turned towards the door.
“And that is how it’s done,” Jia laughed. In your desperation to get away from her teasing, you hurried along to dinner, which just so happened to be with Hoseok.
Hoseok also seemed to notice this and smirked as he followed you out.
The restaurant was quiet when you two arrived. You picked a closed off booth to sit in, hoping Hoseok would appreciate the small bit of privacy it gave. He passed the menu on the table to you first. “Take your pick.”
Before ordering, you pulled out your phone to check how much money you’d be allowed to spend before your bank thought your previous spending was fraudulent. “Just gotta check my account....” you trailed off as you unlocked your phone.
Hoseok reached across the table and plucked your phone out of your hands.
“HEY!” you cried out a little too loudly, earning a look from the few workers milling about. “Mr Shin, return my phone, please,” you said quieter this time.
“Don’t worry about the money, it’s my treat, remember?” he said with a grin. He kept your phone in his hand.
After some flicks of the menu, you picked a pizza. Hoseok noticed it was the cheapest pizza available, but didn’t comment.
“I’ll place the order with mine then.” He took the menu from you and walked to the counter. As he walked, he quickly flicked through the menu and found a couple set with desserts, drinks and other sides. Talking to the young boy at the register, he pointed out your pizza and said, “I’d like the couple set please, together with this pizza.”
The dinner cost just a fraction of the ₩3 million you spent, so he made a mental note of how much more he owed you, and returned to the table.
Taking a seat again in front of you, Hoseok returned your phone to you and asked, “So, what do you do with your free time?”
You pocketed your phone away and thought for a minute. “I usually just watch movies with my family, but this week I have just been watching CCTV footage.”
Hoseok chuckled. “Looks like you have me to blame for that. At least tell me the lead actor in the CCTV was hot.”
“Unfortunately I can’t.” Hoseok’s smile faltered for a second when you said that, but you continued. “Too many people to have a main character.”
“Well what did you end up seeing of me then?” Hoseok said with a glint in his eyes.
“Not much… at least, not enough to make a ruling beyond reasonable doubt?” you offered, and you were pleasantly surprised when Hoseok chortled at your lawyer joke.
“You really do love your job huh?"
You laughed along with him for a bit before returning the question. “What do you do in your spare time then?” When Hoseok opened his mouth to speak, you held up a finger to tell him to pause. “Don’t say working out or eating ramen because I already know.”
Hoseok raised his eyebrows at you. “And how did you know that I wonder?"
You gestured vaguely to his body. “It’s obvious?"
Hoseok leaned forward on his elbows. He had a sly smile on his face. “Use your words, y/n, you’re a lawyer. What about my body gave it away?"
You leaned forward and matched his energy. “I knew it the moment I saw you at Useungja.”
“And what did you see?”
“You know to play to your strengths, pun intended. Like today, there’s only so much that a tank top can hide.” If you were being honest, Hoseok could probably wear an astronaut suit and still be handsome, but you weren’t ready to be that honest yet.
Hoseok leaned back on to his seat and folded his arms. He was secretly delighted when he saw your eyes flick to his biceps. “So you’ve been wondering what the rest of my body looks like this whole day?”
You hoped your face didn’t look flustered. “Of course not. I am a professional. And this case is important,” you replied, even though you felt your face growing hotter.
Hoseok was a little disappointed by your reply. How could you sit there not knowing the way you had touched every part of him some nights earlier? Not to mention you sleeping wrapped up in his arms before that as well.
He decided to try a different tactic. “Tell me about the new footage you’ve been watching.”
You were more than happy to answer, and felt the hotness in your cheeks dissipate. “I pulled footage of the party and the stairwell. I want to find the same person I followed from the green rooms to the stairwell. It would be nice if I could identify the voices I heard.”
Hoseok thought for a second, figuring out what to ask about your work. “What will you do if you do identify them?”
“Hand them to the prosecutor on a silver platter probably. Offering a whole other suspect with means and motive is very likely to remove you as a person of interest,” you explained.
Hoseok nodded. “I’m still curious though, how did you end up at the green rooms?”
“Uhhhhhh,” you wavered. You looked down at your lap, sighed and hoped you could evade the question. “I followed somebody there.”
“Your mystery voice?” Hoseok asked, even though he knew EXACTLY who you followed.
“Yeah, pretty much. I thought it was odd that a daytime staff member was there instead of a security guard, so I thought I’d go take a look.” You were glad Hoseok basically answered his own question.
Hoseok couldn’t remember seeing any staff member any time during the party except for when you two were interrupted in the green room. And though he hadn’t considered it before, you had a point in thinking the person was odd.
“Do you want me and the boys to take a look at the footage, and see if we can figure out who she is?” Hoseok offered. It was a brilliant idea. While waiting for you to respond, he added, “You can work out of our dorms and use the TV screen there to blow up the footage.”
So you agreed. “Sure. Let’s do it.”
You two ate silently when the food arrived, gazing around the restaurant. Hoseok noticed your eyes catch sight of something near the checkouts so he turned around to take a look. Hoseok saw the CEO of Useungja, who waved after sensing your gaze, and started walking towards your table.
“Y/n-ah, I didn’t know you’d be here,” he said as he reached out to squeeze one of your shoulders.
“Oh lord, your hands are cold. I can feel it through my clothes,” you shook your head like you were annoyed but then smiled up at the CEO. “How was that last meeting?"
“Finished early actually. By the way, is this new?” The CEO asked as he plucked a piece of hair off your clothes. Hoseok’s lip twitched as he watched the interaction. Bosses usually didn’t pay that sort of attention to their rookies’ clothing.
“Like a few weeks? Technically you paid for it when you gave me my first paycheque.” Hoseok grew even more confused. Rookies could never make those kinds of bold statements.
The CEO then turned to Hoseok. “Are you satisfied with y/n's work?”
“Oh my god...” you groaned, while Hoseok formulated his answer.
Hoseok rolled his shoulders back and sat up straight. “She’s probably the best lawyer I have ever had.”
“Well that’s always good to hear,” the CEO said.
The CEO then turned his body more fully towards you, making it clear he wanted a semi-private conversation with you. He leaned in towards you, and Hoseok started to feel suspicious about this man. Was there a reason the man was so physically close with an intern?
“What’s wrong?” you asked the CEO, not minding his closeness.
“Are you coming home tonight or staying with him?” the CEO asked, so bluntly that Hoseok almost choked on his drink. How did your boss know where you spent the night?
You had the same question. “What makes you think I stayed at Hoseok’s place exactly?” Hoseok realised he wanted to know this too.
The CEO smiled knowingly and looked between you two. Hoseok felt vulnerable under the CEO’s gaze, but you seemed calm when the man spoke. “You came home in yesterday’s clothes and immediately showered.”
“I didn’t realise you saw me come home,” you said, more to yourself than anyone else. “But that still doesn't explain why you think it was specifically Hoseok.”
Hoseok had the additional question of why your CEO kept track of what you wore in and out of your house, but he didn’t say anything.
“If it was a friend’s place, you would’ve showered, eaten, borrowed some clothes and gone to work from there. But that day, you only had your work outfit, so you didn’t have a date or go clubbing, and since I knew you were meeting with Hoseok that day, I put it all together.” The CEO wasn’t smug when he gave his explanation, but Hoseok could sense the man was proud of how well he knew your quirks.
You knew you were caught but you wouldn’t admit it. “Well, I met more people than just Hoseok so maybe reconsider that theory?”
The CEO laughed and agreed. He was quiet for a second before changing the topic. “Now, y/n, what I actually walked over here for was not to interrupt your dinner date, but to ask what pizza your aunt liked. I forgot.”
“Just ask the staff for the spiciest one they have,” you replied.
“Alright, I’ll maybe see you at home then, okay?” The CEO squeezed your shoulder one more time and left.
You knew Hoseok was confused about your uncle, but he might be too polite to ask.
“That was my uncle by the way,” you said breaking the silence.
Hoseok looked up, confused.
“Useungja’s CEO is my uncle. And I live at his house. That’s why he knew all those things about me.”
Hoseok blinked as he registered what you even saying. “Oh right… that does make more sense. It’d be pretty weird if your boss knew those things about you.”
You chuckled. “Except in my case, my boss really does know. It’s also why he knew to call your manager last night.”
“Why didn’t you say anything earlier? Your uncle obviously cares a lot about you,” Hoseok said.
You sighed deeply. “I didn’t want people to think I only got the job because I knew him. I applied to his firm like a normal candidate, I didn’t even tell him I was applying, but nobody is going to consider that.”
“Lots of people get jobs because they know someone though. Plus, people will always have opinions no matter what you do.” Hoseok offered. His words were comforting, so you smiled.
Once you both finished eating, you two walked to your car silently. As you were placing your bag inside, you heard a very melodic voice behind you. “Seokie? is that you??"
You turned around to find a beautiful blonde woman talking to Hoseok. She didn’t seem like an idol, and was dressed like she had just got off work.
“Oh, Yoona?” Hoseok said. “Yeah, hi, it’s me.”
“Well fancy seeing you out here, how long has it been?"
“Uh yeah, a few months,” Hoseok said rubbing the back of his neck. Wait was this an ex?
“And how’s Minhyuk?” the woman asked as her voice took on a more serious and concerned tone.
Hoseok’s tone also changed, but to something much harsher. “Leave him alone, Yoona. You caused enough trouble.”
Trouble? Was this Minhyuk’s ex then?
“C’mon, I was just working on a story. I didn’t want to hurt him or anything. Actually, I’ll be at your next M Countdown performance."
“Well, Minhyuk doesn’t want to see you.” Hoseok said through gritted teeth.
“I’ll make to up to you guys with some good coverage. How about an exclusive or something?”
“We don’t need it. Now please leave, I am busy,” Hoseok opened the door to your car. Not realising you had stood there listening, you did the same.
“Wait, Seokie you didn’t tell me you were seeing someone. Hi there, I am Yoona,” the woman leaned down and called to you from outside the car.
“Hello Yoona,” you said curtly.
“Well girlie, do share how you and Hoseok met,” Yoona seemed like someone that loved gossip, and you didn’t need to feed rumours.
“Yoona, now is not the time for this,” Hoseok said.
“Shh, Hoseok, it’s not like I will reveal my sources or anything,” Yoona giggled.
Sources? “Wait, Yoona, are you a journalist?” You asked.
She seemed surprised by your question. “Close. I write in entertainment columns for several magazines.”
“What kinds of things do you write? Do you cover Monsta X regularly?”
“I cover anything idol related. Wins, scandals, rumours, you name it,” Yoona replied. “But don’t worry, I won’t print anything about you two.”
You eyed Yoona coolly. “I should hope not. You wouldn’t want to write something false.”
“Of course not, it’s a journalist’s duty to be truthful,” Yoona said, dramatically placing a hand on her chest.
“Correct,” you continued with a smug look. “Because as Hoseok’s attorney, if you cause trouble by printing false rumours, I will be calling you to court for libel.”
Yoona’s jaw dropped open at that statement. “Uh yeah of course yeah,” she stuttered out.
“Well we should get going now, so get home safe, Yoona” you said, and closed your car door.

love is · · · — trivias & outtakes
✇༄ spoilers for the entire love is · · · series
✇༄ bulleted list format
masterlist | love is · · · masterlist
Tumblr media
[gif’s full credit belongs solely to its owner]
✇༄ disclaimer: twilight from spy x family has nothing to do with this. i just wanted to use a gif of him as a header of sorts. heh.
✇༄ reader/main character will be referred to by their mafia codename ‘sea,’ just to make ramblings easier :]
inspo: plot & conflict
let’s get the general stuff out of the way first
so, this whole mini-series was actually thought of because i watched the gambler” mv and band version one too many times as i tried to cope w pcd
[i highly recommend the band ver btw. it tempts me to swerve to changkyun every single time, istg]
and then i consequentially topped it off w mafia!aus . . .
truth be told, i wanted to save the hidden baby/secret child trope for future works since i didn’t want to overuse it
[it’s my go-to in my earlier, unpublished works. idk if they’ll ever see the light of day, but they’re def still in my drive somewhere]
i needed a big enough reason for sea to leave a relationship they were otherwise more than happy in — and (un)fortunately, i couldn’t think of any other situation
i figured being responsible for more than their own life should do the trick, so there
a general plot was made, tgt w the root of conflict
a gambler & a danger
ngl, out of all the parts for this mini-series, these two were the only ones that turned out exactly like how i planned them
specifically, the story captured in these two parts were the exact scenes i wanted to tell right from the start
there was no deviation from the original plot/screenplay or whatsoever
it was great
which, now that i think abt it, was prolly why i finished these two relatively quick
since there was no ‘what-if’s to consider
a secret
in contrast, i had a slight difficulty for this part because i had a ‘what-if’ scenario
i had to debate whether hoseok would be traveling alone or not
ngl, i have a tendency to go for the angstier way — but, for this case, the two options had contrasting effects on the story
option one was ultimately made canon
yk, hoseok crosses paths with sea on vacation and basically invites himself to walk around w them lol
but option two . . .
oh boy
did y’all hear abt that one time when hoseok was spotted at the airport w kihyun and changkyun? (it was after wonho became a soloist, so ot7 stans won that day *insert star eyes here*)
but yea, i basically took inspo from that and went— what if?
what if hoseok and then changkyun spotted sea?
then, different from canon, the convo they’d have would be significantly shorter since sea would feel more apprehensive about being in the same place as MX members
neither hoseok nor changkyun would have a chance to get close enough to learn kian’s name or even play w her since sea would of course leave as soon as possible
it’s debatable if sea would even get to think abt asking hoseok and changkyun the favor of not telling the others abt seeing them in their vacation
but, either way, the men’s eyes were still faster than sea since they already caught a glimpse of bebe kian
who, as hoseok canonically puts it, “looks a lot like her father”
now here’s the part that makes me scream— it’s so angsty i personally love it:
what if, as sea turned to leave, they saw someone not too far away who eerily looks like kihyun? looking at them? looking at kian?
[*screams*]
angst level through the roof already ik, but lemme make it worse
sea was written to have a strong resolve, someone who is selfish and selfless at the same time, someone who doesn’t back down easily
so yk what? even if they made eye contact w that person who eerily resembled kihyun, they would pretend they weren’t spooked
they would still leave . . . bc they already made their choice
as for the reason why i didn’t go with that route, even if it was literally the angstiest of the two aka my type lol
personally, i felt like option two would waste all of sea’s efforts to get away
i mean— sure, they would still reunite w kihyun eventually [bc yes, no matter what sea does, they’re still meant to end up w him]
but at least w option one, they had more time to enjoy their freedom — and w that extra time, they were able to have no regrets abt ruining an eight-year long of otherwise perfectly fine relationship
plus, if they saw each other then, sea would still be able to get away since it’d take kihyun a while to recover from his shock
but once he processed everything? he will try to find them. no amount of SVT’s countermeasures and precautions would be able to stop him. he will find sea and kian within two months — three months, tops.
however, as touched on in ‘a compass,’ that was exactly what sea didn’t want. bc they’d eventually end up hating him for real
overall, as much as i love angst, i didn’t want the series to get too messy once the domino effect hits, that was why i ultimately made option one canon
inspo: yoo kian
originally, i planned kian to be a boy
[just bc bb boys are my default for hidden baby!aus for some reason??? yea idk, either]
but then, yk how for some ppl you just see what gender of children “suit” them the best? like, minhyuk’s def a girl dad??
yea . . . same logic for kihyun. although his interactions w kylo are v uwu, i still see him as a girl dad. perhaps not as strong as my vision for minhyuk, but it’s still there
as for her name, sea never planned to completely erase kihyun in her life
they wanted to raise her away from him and out of his radar, yes, but they still wanted kian to have a piece of him wherever they go
hence sea let kian carry his surname and even share a syllable of her name w him
and they were only confident abt doing that bc, again, kihyun didn’t know abt bebe kian — he can’t track both of them using someone he didn’t even know existed
ik the spelling of her name can be considered masculine, but i merely romanized how her name would be written in hangul (키안/기안), so i see no point in giving her the feminine spelling of it
oh! i almost forgot: kian wasn’t actually the first name i thought of for sea and kihyun’s kid
i already forgot what the first name was, but the name kian was thought of after i remembered abt sian from tros lol
inspo: mafia codes
i wanted everyone to have a mafia codename of sorts
the members w stage names were easy, also those w alternate names (as in hyungwon’s case) since i just used those
but for those who have their real names as their stage names, i had to be creative
jooheon became ‘honey,’ after his current stage name that i keep forgetting [srly, i always forget that he goes by joohoney now T_T]
minhyuk became ‘gorae,’ which is korean for whale, his favorite animal
the only one i rlly had trouble w was kihyun’s code name
i personally associate him w hamsters, but i couldn’t thing of anything that could make ‘hamster’ as a code name intimidating, so i had to look for inspiration somewhere else
somehow, in my quest, i stumbled upon the fact that ‘yoo’ — kihyun’s last name — can be spelled as ‘ryu’ in the past
hence his code name ‘ryuki’
as for SVT members . . . there’s a reason why not all of them appeared in the series lol
i mean— besides the fact that it’s a MX-centered fic, most of them go by their real names on stage
and i rlly don’t have the energy to give everyone a creative code name lol
still, i came up with some just in case i ran out of members who have stage names
thus ‘player’ for wonwoo, after the carmen sandiego character and also the fact that he’s a gamer
‘moon’ for junhui, after his korean surname (문)
and two more back-ups i didn’t get to use: ‘ghost’ for seungkwan, solely bc his last name is boo [sometimes i think i’m funny] && ‘polar’ for hansol vernon, after his current emoji representative
though imma be honest
i have no idea who ‘labri’ is
when i first thought of the code name, it rooted from the word ‘lovely.’ when i tried to write it in hangul, it became ‘랍리’ or ‘labli’/‘labri’/‘lablee’/‘rabri’/— you get the idea
but with that, two members come to mind personally: jeonghan and mingyu
if ‘labri’ is jeonghan, it could also be the case that ‘labri’ came from ‘libra’ aka his zodiac sign, with a couple letters switched
however, if ‘labri’ is mingyu, it could also be the case that ‘labri’ came from ‘labrador’
so yea, idk who he is
a favor
despite being angsty, this part was a lil difficult to write ngl
i literally had to rewrite the entire thing three times before i finally had something i was satisfied w
i knew what i wanted to write, specifically what scenes i wanted to show, it was just a matter of how i should tell it
MX’s introduction to kian was originally captured in great detail as in move-for-move
but then . . . idk what was actually wrong w it, but it just seemed wrong for some reason???
i still saved that draft somewhere bc those scenes were so cute to me, but yea . . . i ultimately rewrote it
[sometimes i just don’t get how my brain works, sigh]
funnily enough, the scene that convinced me to even write this part in the first place didn’t even make the cut
like ‘a secret,’ this part also had a ‘what if’ — one that also had a contrasting effect to the story
the second idea was what i made canon
yk— wonho volunteered for the alliance but ryuki ended up the one getting engaged after MX pieced kian’s parentage tgt
but in the initial idea . . .
honey was chosen for the alliance
i didn’t work out how he was picked, but i did work out that he was v reluctant abt it — as in he wasn’t totally on board w it, but still agreed anw bc it was for MX’s future
sea wasn’t SVT’s pick for the marriage in this version tho
instead, honey was set to marry periwinkle aka perrie — someone who wasn’t part of SVT’s core, but a high-ranking member nonetheless
their dynamic was supposed to be like enemies-to-lovers, since both of them weren’t really fond of the idea
perrie was supposed to be rlly close w sea tho: partly bc the former was one of their “guards” until they left the country
which led to sea attending the wedding as a show of support
i mean— sure, for this ver, sea is still avoiding ryuki as much as they can, but with the alliance between SVT-MX pretty much complete, they're a bit more lax abt it than in canon
also bc of the logic that MX didn't find them to begin w before they crossed paths again, so the threat "make sure we never find you" in ‘a gamble’ is still in sea's favor
now here's the scene that convinced me to write this part in the first place but didn't even make the cut:
as it happened in canon, labri still mistakingly hands kian to the MX members before hurriedly leaving
and that event is still the reason why MX members will be able to piece together kian's parentage
although, for this ver, kian will resemble sea more than ryuki
[honestly idk how kian ended up looking like ryuki more in canon when i’ve been dead-set that she should look like her mapa more right from the beginning T_T]
[hoseok’s comment in ‘a secret’ was only supposed to be a signal like “i know who the father is”]
they will still be able to figure it out tho based on her features and other “coincidences”
unlike in canon tho, the one who will pick her up from MX’s house is sea
think “you fcking did WHAT? labri, you’re fcking DEAD. don’t fcking go near my daughter, i’m mad at you. i’ll pick her up myself”
yea, sea’s furious at labri oki
[like, so v much so that they literally signed up to go to the lion’s den unaccompanied without much thought]
and understandably so, since hello?? this whole thing was abt keeping kian & kihyun apart???
not to worry, though
surprisingly enough, had they met this way, they would’ve been pretty civil . . . and calm
i didn’t work out the logistics, but kihyun supposedly harbor no ill feelings for sea in this ver
it’s like . . . after piecing kian’s parentage, he just figures out what exactly happened and just . . . understood
so, yea
for this ver, “the talk” that happened in ‘a compass’ is a lot quieter and calmer
like it literally takes place while the other members painstakingly gather everything that belongs to kian that had been scattered around the house lol
and as a sort of soft epilogue, sea and ryuki would meet again in honey and periwinkle’s wedding reception
where it would be alluded that they would be a couple again in the future
and then [*hits the slate*] CUT
.
.
.
ngl i rlly looked forward to writing the reunion in this ver since it was the reason this part exist in the first place
but
as i progressed writing the opening scenes for this particular part, i realized it didn’t seem realistic that ryuki would just let sea off the hook that easily
sure, this is fiction and all, but i figured kihyun at least deserves some time to show sea that the trauma they caused wasn’t okay
cuz yk . . . we can’t just invalidate ppl’s feelings like that
so yeah
that’s why canon is the way it is
a journey & a compass
frankly, these two parts wouldn’t’ve existed if not for the anons that asked abt them
cuz i fully intended to just end the story in ‘a favor’
partly bc i knew if i extended the story beyond that, i would have no choice but to actually address kihyun’s trauma
not that there was smth wrong w doing that, it’s just . . . i didn’t want to mess it up
even if it’s fictional, that trauma is heavy yk
i think i messed it up anw but yk it is what it is ig
ngl there was only supposed to be one part after ‘a favor’
but, while i was writing ‘a journey,’ i noticed that there would be a shift in the tone?— the color?— idk how to phrase it— of the story
so i decided that it would be best to split the supplementary part into two
one focusing on the “pretending”
and the other on the “closure”
as i mentioned on one of my replies to an anon, the keyword for the last set of supplemental parts was ‘wedding’
yea, i technically could’ve just went straight to ‘a compass’ without having to write ‘a journey,’ that’s true
but there were some information in ‘a journey’ that i needed to mention
don’t ask what it was bc i can’t recall now lol
but yea that’s why there was ‘a journey’ before ‘a compass’ :D
inspo: significant others
sea actually had a name in the first draft of ‘a gamble’ bc i originally didn’t plan on sharing the story here
and every time a story is exclusively for me, i tend to create ocs since that’s what i did before my tumblr writer era
[yes, that’s why my mcmxcvii & mcu stuff are x oc . . . those universes were built years ago]
but anw
sea’s name was choi gaeul
they were supposed to share their last name with their cousin seungcheol
wait actually let me elaborate
they were named as such first
with their first name being from chu gaeul of boys over flowers [aka half of one of my first ships as a kid uwu]
&& then when the time came to pick a relative who share the same surname, seungcheol became an obvious choice
ergo, SVT was ultimately inserted in the story
ergo, the codename ‘autumn’ later on became out of question since that’s what gaeul meant
ngl had i published the story w an oc, bb kian’s full name would’ve easily been choi kian
which strangely would’ve changed the story in ‘a favor’ & onwards now that i think abt it
huh
anw sea’s occupation is an architect
why? solely bc of a small fact mentioned in ‘a journey’: so i can say that they thought seungcheol would simply ask them to design a blueprint for SVT’s house as a favor
that’s v shallow ik, but i always try to be as vague and as general as possible in my x reader fics
so when i do specify some things, they’re more likely than not thought of last min and had to be made bc i had no other choice
that includes the name drops for minhyuk’s and changkyun’s respective partners, actually — since i couldn’t just refer to them as their other half every single time
they’re more than just that yk
i came up with minhyuk’s partner’s name first — nari — bc they were supposed to be mentioned by name in ‘a favor,’ right in the beginning when it was discussed that them & minhyuk were already married by then
for extra measure, i also planned out some things abt nari & their relationship w minhyuk just in case i needed them
like how nari’s works in a flower shop & somehow met minhyuk there one day, allowing for their love story to start [yea, they got the florist-mafia trope. it’s cute]
&& also how nari is actually pregnant during ‘a favor’ & onwards
them seeking advice from sea abt giving birth & parenthood was actually my back up plan for the story flow lol
actually, that also includes them offering to babysit kian for “experience” [one of my drafts actually had a scene where ryuki & sea had a fight abt this lol]
funnily enough, the name nari was thought of bc i remembered abt the narra tree
it was rlly random, but that basically gave my name search a direction — name starting w n, meaning possibly related to plants
&& tada~ nari means ‘lily’ — or so google says
i didn’t bother thinking of a surname for nari though, or hayeon too, for that matter
in fact, changkyun’s partner has less info planned out compared to nari
most likely bc i didn’t intend them to play a huge role in the series or appear at all
but alright, here’s everything i came up w abt changkyun’s partner
their name hayeon was from one of the former kids in tros [i just think it’s a beautiful-cute name, nothing else]
they’re a doctor, speciality unknown — most likely smth related to surgery tho
mostly bc the trope that i thought for them two involves kyun getting wounded && hayeon fixing him up
i did consider that hayeon was prolly the first person to know abt sea’s pregnancy
and, for some reason, sea was alright w them knowing
specifically, for wtv reason, sea knew hayeon would keep that knowledge a secret from MX
i didn’t rlly flesh out the ‘why,’ exactly, but it was def hinted in ‘a compass’
smth abt what happened to hayeon will fs prompt MX to tighten their security/surveillance around sea when they find out that they’re pregnant
ngl what ‘happened’ may or may not have involved hayeon getting kidnapped . . .
and let’s just say hayeon believes that it’s better to stay away from any mafia than to accept some sort of protection from them
based on their experience, yk the mafia protection basically failing them, they have the right to feel that way
so yeah: sea knowing that particular belief of theirs def played a part on why sea would feel safe sharing their secret w them
&& also why hayeon was intentionally ‘absent’ in the series compared to nari whose scenes just got cut: they were staying as far away from all the mafia shenanigans as much as possible
which, really, wasn’t difficult for them to do given that they’re a doctor & everything
since we’re on the topic, i might as well mention this
hayeon & changkyun’s on-&-off relationship was def influenced by their kidnapping
i won’t go to details bc i didn’t actually flesh it out
but, as i see it rn, their story def has so much angst in it that i can’t even guarantee a ‘happy ending’ for them if i ever write it
final notes
this rambling has gone on longer than i intended
i didn’t realize i had so much to say abt the ‘behind’ of this series oml
but anw
to close, i just want take a moment to thank you guys for reading & showing interest in ‘love is · · ·’
it’s the first series i finished wo having all the parts prewritten before posting, so all the interactions — the likes, the reblogs, the comments, the messages — really drove this to completion
i read all the reblogs, tags, comments, & msgs btw, even if i only replied to the asks
mostly bc i despise how it’s my ‘main’ blog that replies whenever i answer a comment smh
&& like . . . idk how i can answer reblogs/tags . . .
i love reading them, actually
i went back to read every single one of them multiple times to help me finish everything. they helped me a lot fr
and i uh— i’m so sorry i broke your hearts several times
i’m admittedly just good at dropping angsty one-liners && my fluffy writing needs a lot of work
so hopefully the hopeful ending made all the heartbreak worth it . . . somehow. somewhat.
if there’s anything you’re curious abt that i didn’t address in this lengthy ramble, pls send me an ask here!!
feel free to send me other stuff through there too: what you liked abt this series, what frustrated you, idk. wtv else you think of
that way i can actually reply *insert dancer emoji, three times, here*
forewarning tho: you might get a reply that’s more than what you asked for bc i tend to overshare—
but anw yea
from the v bottom of my heart, thank you for tuning to ‘love is · · ·’ and following ryuki & sea’s story (⌒▽⌒)♡

Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch
Tumblr media
Summary: Changkyun has been in love with you for as long as he can remember, and he’s determined to make you finally stop looking at him as your little brother’s best friend and see him as a man. This is a story of love, scheming, and hijinks with the help of Changkyun’s friend and a bad date known as the Hannibal.
Pairing: College student! Changkyun x Noona reader
Genre: Crack, fluff, romance, smut, slow burn
Word Count: 19.5K (I really outdid myself this time)
Warnings: unprotected sex, fingering, public sex
A/N: This is dedicated to @mzpandylu because I just love making you suffer with me over this brat.
   Changkyun has always been too smart for his own good. For as long as he can remember he's been able to weasel his way out of all possible consequences for his varying shenanigans. One might think that now, as an adult, he'd finally outgrown this. But honestly, Changkyun isn't sure if 'adult' is an apt description for him when he's still living in dorms and barely holding down a work-study job. He's honestly not sure how the lab hasn't caught on to the fact that he sometimes makes acid that he's turned a profit on occasionally. But that's neither here nor there. No the main reason why Changkyun doesn't feel like he's really an adult yet isn't because he's still in school, or because he isn't really living on his own yet. No the real reason why he doesn't feel like an adult is because you don't see him as one. A fact that perpetually insults and aggravates him.
   There are some facts he's just accepted, no matter how much it annoys him. He can admit now that his parents and you will always see him as a snot-nosed brat. The former he can accept easily, it's the latter that makes him feel the rage of a thousand suns. Not that suns have sentient feelings, but Changkyun's rather fond of the whimsical folly in such an absurd statement.
   For as long as Changkyun has known you he's been head-over-heels in love with you. You had this aura to you, and no matter how many times he's tried to pulverize his feelings for you to a bloody pulp they find a way to resurface and grow stronger with even more wide-spread roots. It's been this way for as long as he can remember really.
   He first met you when he really was just a snot-nosed punk. He was all of six years old, the new kid in town. You were ten, the cute next door neighbor who tolerated him due to your mutual voracious appetites in books but mostly because he became fast friends with your little brother, Hyungwon, who was a year older than him but in the same grade. There were a lot of things he learned about you that summer, most importantly he learned that you had mastered the armbar already and had no qualms with using it to get revenge on Hyungwon for saving over your Pokemon Yellow file.
   Three years later you got your period for the first time, a moment that Changkyun has seared into his brain because he continued pestering you about how tampons were used to which you threatened to shove your history textbook up his ass. Even then, he knew that you really would throw down and he never brought it up again.
   Flash forward to his thirteenth summer, this is the first time Changkyun would realize that he was in love with you. That it wasn't just that he thought you were cute or the epitome of cool. No no, this was the beginning stages of puppy love. Although, at this point in his life he was less concerned with his infatuation with his best friend's sister and what his budding feelings meant and was more concerned with the fact that he sprung boners just from hearing you laugh. To his credit, that's a very common problem at that age. Unfortunately for him...he still pops random boners from thinking about you. It didn't help that by this age, you at 17 years old, had already started blossoming into your body, something that would take many more years for the same to happen to him. Not that he'd ever admit it to anyone, but he sometimes still jerks off to memories of you lounging around the pool that summer.
   When he was fourteen he finally started high school. It was the only year that he was able to attend with you, but that one year was magical. Thanks to your overprotective nature for your brother who would fall asleep standing up in between classes he saw you very often. You were also his ride to and from school. He had been shocked, and deeply offended, to find out that you weren't considered one of the cool kids at school. You stuck mostly to yourself, or to whatever book was closest to you. A sentiment that still relates to him. That year though you had somehow managed to get him access to his first ever party containing illegal substances.
   The party had been held at Wonho's house, a senior who was that dude. You know that dude, the one that everyone loved and either wanted to be him or wanted to bone him? Well, that was Wonho. Changkyun can still vividly recall wandering around aimlessly out of sheer boredom when he found you making out with a guy he was sure was bad news. Shownu. Shownu was already out of high school and living on his own. He could easily have picked Changkyun up by the collar and flung him to the opposite side of the room if he wanted to. But no, he was usually too busy boning you to acknowledge his competition.
   Changkyun was always quick to point out to everyone that would listen that he thought it was gross that a grown ass man was dating a high schooler. The problem with this logic, however, was that you had started dating him while you were both in high school. The other problem was that Shownu was an infuriatingly nice guy. It makes sense that Shownu would go on to be a firefighter while Changkyun was the guy you called if you wanted to find out how to breach a firewall or score an ounce or cheat your way through exams.
   Luckily for him, you would eventually see reason and breakup with Shownu. Unfortunately for Changkyun, the reasoning had nothing to do with some terrible heartbreak that he would fix for you and then the two of you would ride off into the sunset. Nor would the root cause be you one day waking up and realizing that your little brother's nerdy best friend was hot with his cracking pubescent voice and rampant acne problems. No, you would break up with Shownu because you were accepted at a university far away from your middle of buttfuck nowhere small town.
   This brings Changkyun back to the present. He had somehow landed in the same university that you were now an alumnus of. Hyungwon had barely scraped into it as well, a feat that no one has really been able to understand. (The truth is that Changkyun had helped him cheat his way into the school. But hey, that's what best friends are for, right?) He's been here for a little over two years now, and none the closer to finally getting into your panties. Not that he hasn't tried. Literally, everyone else knows that he would willingly give up an organ just to go on a date with you. Everyone, that is, except you.
   "(Y/N)'s inviting us over for dinner again tonight, you coming?" Hyungwon peers over his phone for a moment, cocking an eyebrow up at Changkyun before giving a sardonic laugh. "Who am I kidding, if you had the choice between winning a million dollars and just basking in my sister's presence you'd choose her. I'll never understand why."
   "Because she's hot." Hot isn't wholly accurate. It is but a mere fragment of you. Witty, intelligent, terrifyingly strong, adorable, sharp-tongued. But somehow, Changkyun has a feeling that his best friend wouldn't find this little 'crush' all that hilarious if he spewed all of that out on him right now. So he'll keep these thoughts to himself. Playing dumb isn't something Changkyun is fond of, but he is good at.
   "I'm going to tell her you said that."
   "Please, be my guest. We both know how it's going to end. She'll probably hit you so hard upside the head that you lose your few remaining brain cells and then say something like 'stop being a dumbass.'" Changkyun can't help but let out an exasperated sigh at the sound of Hyungwon's barking laughter.
   "Yeah, you're right. When are you ever going to confess?" Ah, that's the question. The greatest question currently revolving around their collectively shared brain cells. It's not from lack of trying, it's just that you stubbornly refuse to see him as anything other than your little brother's best friend. He hates the term friend zoned and is a firm believer that dudes who use it are boring pricks who just don't know how to say what they want. But Changkyun? Well, he's been banished to the brother realm, no matter how many times he's tried to rectify it.
   "I've tried. A million fucking times. You were there last week when I asked her to go to the movies with me and she was all 'you're just using me for concession stand money.' Or the time before that when I told her that her new dress would look better on the floor and she just socked me in the arm and told me it wasn't that ugly? Or how about the time-"
   "-Christ dude, I get it. You're making me all depressed over here and I need to get a nap in before we head out for dinner. And depressed naps are the least satisfying."
   "You literally just woke up from a nap."
   "Yeah, well, it was only my second nap of the day. We all know that I need a minimum of four to function. How do you think I got to be this handsome? Beauty sleep, my friend. You should think of trying it sometime. Maybe then your ugly mug will stop scaring away my sister." Before Changkyun can respond, Hyungwon is turning over and snoring.
   "...this isn't even your room. And that's my fucking bed you lazy jerk." For a moment Changkyun contemplates picking up his pillow and smothering his best friend with it. But he figures murdering your brother will most certainly cockblock himself for life. A fate that his mere existence might already be cursed to, but he refuses to give the world more reasons to stop his one-sided love from being reciprocated.
----------------
   He would like to lie and say he didn't fret many times over what to wear before seeing you for just a simple dinner. But the truth is rather obvious the moment you take a look at the floor of his dorm. He's sure his dormmate, Jooheon, won't be very pleased about this. At the same time, he's pretty sure he'll never piss Jooheon off as much as when he woke up in the middle of the night to find Changkyun screaming at his computer screen in nothing but his birthday suit. Apparently, most men aren't that comfortable seeing other dudes naked. Especially when they're volatility angry after losing a video game. Who would have guessed?
   On the trek over to your apartment, Changkyun did what he was best at; he got lost in his own head. Visions of you fluttered through his mind's eye. In this altered reality, Hyungwon was nowhere to be seen and certainly not snoring next to him in the passenger's seat. No, in this world you had invited just him to come up for an evening tryst. He pictured you answering in a long silk robe with lacey underwear peeking out where you had it loosely tied together. Just as he was about to enter your home in his vision he could hear your dulcet tones telling him-
   "Earth to Changkyun. Come in dork. Or don't, just stand out there smiling like an idiot for all I care. But I'm not waiting on you until the food gets cold." Changkyun blinked as he took in your visage, the real you not the fictionalized caricature in his head. There was no racy cheeky lace or silk in sight, instead, you were in a plain white t-shirt and yoga pants. The real kicker though was your face, your absurdly pretty face with a look plastered on that screamed 'stop testing my patience, dumbass.'
   "My bad I just got lost in thought I guess." He stares at you for a moment, praying that maybe if he looks at you at just the right angle for just long enough you'll finally notice that he's started bulking up, shedding what was left of his baby fat and then you'll jump into his arms in pure joy. Or lust. He isn't picky. Shit, he's too desperate to be picky at this point in his life.
   "Yeah, I kind of gathered that already. So...are you coming in or not? I made way too much spaghetti, so please grab a million bowls of it if you want." He walks slowly behind you as you speak, his eyes trying not to superglue themselves onto your backside. And oh what a magnificent backside it is. He could write sonnets about it. He's pretty sure that in high school he actually did. Note to self, be sure to burn any diaries containing incriminating evidence the next time I go home.
   When Changkyun rounds the corner of your hallway he sees that Hyungwon has already made himself at home, sprawled out on your couch with an absurdly large pile of pasta on the coffee table while he browses through Netflix. Typical. Changkyun pauses for a moment as he turns in the kitchen, watching with careful eyes as you fix your own plate before sticking a fork out at him.
   "Hey, you know how this works in my place. I'm not your mom, I'm not about to fix you a plate. So get to it buddy boy." There are a few facts in life that Changkyun has come to learn due to his infatuation for you. One, he's completely whipped for you and he's okay with that. Two, he's probably a glutton for punishment with a hardon for your trucker mouth and insults. But thirdly, and most importantly, underneath your tough hardened exterior, there's a heart of gold that's softer than Wonho's plushy pile even if you refuse to admit that to the public.
   "You got it, boss, I remember the rules. You only remind me every time I'm here." He tries and fails to fight a smile at the way you roll your eyes at him.
   "Was that sass I'm hearing? That better not be sass." You grumble as you pour on a disgusting amount of parmesan before joining Hyungwon on the couch, smacking his legs away when he tries to stretch them across you. The sight shouldn't be so heartwarming to Changkyun. But here he is, smiling like a doofus as he fixes himself a plate. Hyungwon, unfortunately, looks back with an evil grin slapped onto his face before he turns back around to face his sister. Changkyun knows that look all too well. Hyungwon is about to meddle. That's the last thing Changkyun needs. Not when things are going so well. Okay, they aren't going at all but not going at all is still better than you karate chopping his throat before telling him that you see him as just another little brother.
   "So, noona, I hear you've got a date tomorrow." Deep breaths Changkyun, don't let this get to you he's probably lying.
   "What's it to you? I feel like you want something out of this. You're up to something, brat. I can sense it." Fuck, that's a yes. You're redirecting it onto Hyungwon because he's right. Changkyun's known you long enough to know your tell. He's grown used to you dating, but for some reason he's even more unhappy than normal at hearing this news.
   "Can't a little brother just make sure his older sister isn't attracting some creeps?" Everyone in the room knows that Hyungown doesn't really care about that, he's a terrible liar and has a penchant for snooping when bored. It's a terrible combination to witness when it rolls out of control.
   "What'll you do about it? I'd have better luck with Changkyun protecting me than your frail ass. Shit, you could practically blow away with one strong gust of wind." Changkyun tries not to pout at this as he finally sits down, shoveling food into his mouth to stop himself from saying anything obvious or painfully lame. Like 'I'd protect you any day noona!' Yeah, no. He'd rather shoot himself than admit that to you. With how annoyed you look right now you'd probably shred his ass to pieces. A death that's honestly preferable to dying alone in his parent's basements with the feds looking for him. (He was voted most likely to have this happen to him in his senior year.)
   "First of all, rude. I mean you're right, but rude. Second of all, have you not seen Changkyun lately? He practically lives at the gym." Changkyun could fucking kiss Hyungwon he's so happy. It's only taken him over a decade to finally be a wingman. Changkyun glances over at you to see you squinting at him as if trying to size him up.
   "I guess." That's it?? You guess? Christ almighty he really is going to die alone. "Anyway, that's beside the point. You have nothing to worry about, I can handle myself just fine thank you very much. And don't think that trying to bring up my love life will get me off your ass on your grades. Are you still failing your math class?"
   "I'm passing." Barely. He's at a solid seventy. For now. But Chankgyun isn't about to rat him out, not when he finally tried to help. "Why don't you ever ask Changkyun about his grades? Get on his ass too!" Aaaaaand the wingman has left the building.
   "That's because I know Changkyun keeps up with his studies, unlike you." He watches a sibling's quarrel break out for the next few minutes before he finally decides to speak up.
   "So, noona...who is this guy?"
   "Nobody you know. And for now, I'd like to keep it that way. Not that you brats would understand, but I'm going through a dry spell and I'd like to finally get to an oasis."
   "Gross." Hyungwon fake gags, trying to scramble away when you smack him upside his head. "Ow, ow, stop stop! And hey, ow ow ow that's my hair, Changkyun can relate!" That seems to stop your attacks for a moment, your eyes narrowing on Changkyun as if trying to sniff out the truth.
   "You guys are in your college heydays, shouldn't you be getting laid all the time? And aside from that whatever happened to that girl? What was her name, Jessica? No Samantha? No wait..."
   "Apple. Her name was Apple." Hyungwon pipes in to save his sister from going down the list of conquests in the last few years. Listen, Changkyun was in love with you. That doesn't mean he didn't still make it a point to get laid sometimes. It's not like he's actually in a relationship with you. Unfortunately.
   "Christ I was way off. Anyway, yeah whatever happened to her? Did you guys break up?"
   Changkyun tries to shrug it off, but before he can answer Hyungwon is interjecting. "They were more like casual friends with benefits. Until she finally let him turn on the light one night."
   "She didn't let you bone with the lights on?" You whip around to question him, but once again Hyungwon steals the light.
   "Nope, anyway so he turns on the light and goes down on her and he says that he saw an-"
   "Okay, time to cut this off. I swore you to secrecy asshole, imagine how you'd feel if some chick was spilling to her friends about your junk?"
   "Wait, wait. What was wrong with her junk?"
   "Catch this, she had like, an elephant trunk for a clit. It was just long flaps of skin like a second labia attached there. He tried googling pictures to find anything like it, but nothing."
   "Holy shit, what did you do? Wait, wait no I don't want to know. I don't even want to think of you having sex, that's just gross." If Changkyun had any feelings left in him he's pretty sure he'd be hurt by that. But as it stands, he's grown numb to the hellhole that is this moment. He takes back everything he said earlier about Hyungwon, he wishes he had indeed smothered him to death with a pillow.
   "Gee, thanks, you two. Also, need I remind you Hyungwon, but making fun of people for things they can't control is mean."
   "Says the asshole who asked the poor girl 'what is that?'"
   "Is it possible that you just...don't know what a clit looks like?" Changkyun takes back all earlier statements on being numb because now he can feel annoyance and rage bubbling through his veins.
   "I know what a fucking clit looks like. It wasn't my first rodeo, okay." He tosses a pillow at Hyungwon when the screeching laughter becomes unbearable. Et tu, Brute? Et tu?
   "Okay, wait, I can't just hear elephant clit and walk away. I need more details." Changkyun sighs, caving into your puppy eyes like the sucker he is.
   "Okay, first of all, this never fucking leaves the room. I don't ever want to hear you guys bring this up to anyone else, it's not cool. It was just...giant. I'll summarise, she was taking steroids to try to keep up with the other gymnasts and there were some unexpected side effects."
   "Wait, steroids for gymnastics? Is that even allowed?" Changkyun just shrugs at your question, trying to mentally throw himself into a daydream where you don't question his sexual prowess or where Hyungwon doesn't bring up his worst sexual moment to date. "I have so many questions for her-" you throw up a hand at the glare Changkyun throws you, "-but I won't. Trust me, I wouldn't want some dude spilling the beans about me like that either. I feel like I have to go scrub myself clean from all this sin now."
   "Changkyun can join you-ow hey wait! I can't breathe!" It only takes you a fraction of a second to get Hyungwon in a chokehold and Changkyun just smirks at his misery. That little shit deserves it. He went from being the best wingman ever to the biggest fucking rat in just a few minutes. He probably should have expected that though.
---------------
   That night Changkyun tossed and turned, his brain swirling around too quickly to fall into a restful sleep. His thoughts kept returning to one particular moment with you years ago, shortly after he had entered high school. He had been "struggling" with his English class, and his parents had enlisted your help in tutoring him to get his C minus up to their expectation of straight A's again. It ended up being a win-win, as you were struggling a bit in your coding class and he was a young teenager who spent far too much time on his Myspace page, he was the perfect person to help.
    "Changkyun, you're overthinking this again. I need you to shut the fuck up for five seconds and listen to me: the essay topic is about why you think Victor created the monster. Not about Mary Shelly's fucked up relationships, stay on topic here." He watches you spin around in your computer chair a few times before throwing your pencil at his forehead. "Are you listening, dork?"
   He wasn't. It was really hard to pay attention to anything when you were looking at him like that. Plush lips. Soft thighs. Bra strap falling down on your left shoulder. You were a work of art aptly titled 'temptation.' "Yeah, I'm listening." He paused, rewinding his mental tape. Right, essay topic. Relationship. "They were kind of sort of lovers."
   "You aren't completely wrong, but the teacher is lame and will disagree unless you go hard on this idea. So why do you think that Frankenstein and his creation are lovers? Or at least, that there's a homoerotic subtext in their relationship?"
   "Well, Victor Frankenstein had to marry his, like, sister cousin right? But it's really obvious that he didn't love her, and not for the gross incest reasons but more because he wasn't into chicks. So he creates this monster, this absolutely hideous man in an effort to kill off his gay desires. Except it doesn't work. Because it feels like he and that one dude, Henry, are totally banging during the voyage. Frankenstein's creation is one big metaphor for his gay desires and that's why he refuses to name him and that's why he wants to kill him even though the monster has done nothing wrong really." Changkyun watches you light up, moving in closer and nodding along as he continues.
   "Exactly! You're a smart cookie, kid."
   "Don't call me kid. I'm not a kid, Noona." He wanted to scream when you rolled your eyes at him. He was fourteen, just four years younger than you. But in high school that made a world of difference, unfortunately for him.
   "You are a kid, twerp. Now back on topic, you have a clear thesis but you need to make sure your argument is strong. You need to back this up with as many quotes as you can. And all those weird relationships Mary Shelly had that you were talking about earlier? Well, use those too. Her life will help strengthen your argument. You need to stop looking at papers as these boring outlines that you just have to throw together. I want you to look at it like you're about to stand on stage and win an argument in front of the whole school. That's how you write a solid paper."
   Changkyun nodded quietly, still slightly offended that you had just called him a kid and a twerp just moments prior. "Hey, Noona? You're really good at this. Do you want to be, like, a lawyer or something?"
   "Ew, gross no. That sounds so stuffy and boring. No, I'm going to be a linguistic anthropologist. I read about it, and it sounds so cool. It's about studying language and cultures and stuff. You know the field is dominated by women? Isn't that, like, so rad?" You gave another spin in your chair before suddenly stopping and staring at him rather conspiratorially. "Words are really interesting. For instance, it's a fact that you're just a kid but you get really angry when I call you that. Why is that? Is it because you're placed in a category of submission and it's a reminder of your place on the hierarchy? Or is it because your teenage rebellion has started to kick in and it makes you resent authority figures?"
   "Isn't that basically the same question just reworded?" You cackle at his question but you don't answer him. He waits for you to finish laughing before speaking again. "Well, I think it's really cool that you want to do that. And I think you'll be great at it. Even if your theories are a bit half baked right now."
   "Thanks, Kkungie. I really appreciate that coming from you. You're like my number two supporter. Behind Shownu, of course." He realizes at that moment that he doesn't hate being called kid by you because of age hierarchies or whatever bullshit you just spewed. No, he hates being called kid by you because it's a glaring reminder that you're so out of reach. The ever unobtainable temptation. He vowed then that someday, he'd make sure you'd see him as a man.
-----------
   Changkyun was sick of cafeteria food and damn tired of making instant ramen in his dorm, so for a change of pace, he decided to meander away from the university and over to the nearest Mexican restaurant. It was a little more than he was comfortable with paying for tacos, but he figured that the salivation inducing pork belly would be worth it. He still had last night playing on repeat in his head, that look of complete and utter disgust on your face at the mere mention of Changkyun having sex. Okay, well to be fair it was actually a really gross subject. You just can't make elephant trunk shaped clits sexy. It's just not possible. Damn Hyungwon! If only he had kept his mouth running on about these sweet new abs. Maybe then you wouldn't have laughed your head off and told him that he didn't know what a clit is. He really wishes that he could have just said something cocky like, "I can prove to you that I do" but he knows that would have resulted in either an armbar or a chokehold.
   He's still ruminating in anger when he steps into the restaurant, waiting for the hostess to come around so he can pick up his to-go order he already placed. His eyes lazily scan over the restaurant until they stop on you. This time you're not in your usual home attire of couch-potato activewear. No, you've pulled out all the stops. Your hair is done to perfection, you have on a full face of meticulously applied makeup, and you're wearing a tight little black dress that hugs all your curves. Or at least the curves that he can see from your waist up in the booth. You don't spot him staring at you, thank god. His eyes quickly swivel to the back of the head of the guy sitting across from you.
   He can't see anything other than the back of his head, but he can tell something about this guy is off. Changkyun has known you long enough now that he can read your facial expressions like a book, and right now you're saying that you want to set yourself on fire so you can get out of the restaurant. Before he can make any rash decisions to rush over and play knight-in-shining-armor the hostess pops up in front of him.
   "Table for one?"
   "Oh, no, I'm just here to pick up my order to go. It's under Changkyun."
   "Okay, let me see if it's ready yet." He watches the hostess disappear before his eyes swivel right back to the booth. You seem to be making a break for it, running straight into the direction that he can only assume is the bathrooms. Or maybe you'll try to escape out of the fire exit. You do look desperate enough to try. He's about to make his way towards where you disappeared to when the hostess makes her prompt return with a bag of food. He hastily grabs it, thanking her before immediately heading off towards your general direction. It doesn't take long before he finds himself in the hallway directly in front of the women's restroom with you nowhere in sight. He has a couple of options. He could either wait it out or he could walk away. But something in his gut tells him that he needs to wait for you, that for whatever reason either there are no windows for you to crawl out of or you're trying to give yourself a pep talk into braving out a clearly shitty date.
   Very little time passes before Changkyun finds out that he made the right decision. You're glued to your phone as you step out, almost walking right past him before he calls out to you. "You need some help?"
   He watches you jump back slightly, almost tripping in your high heels when you turn to face him. He's hoping that he looks cool, leaned up against the wall with his arms crossed and his eyebrow quirked. He's guessing that with your deer in headlights reaction that he probably looks more lecherous than cool, unfortunately. "Christ, you scared the shit out of me. What are you doing here?"
   He waves his to-go bag for a second before nodding his head in the direction of your table. "You looked like you were praying that the earth would swallow you whole so you could get out of that bore-fest. Do you want some help?"
   "What do you mean help? I can take care of myself just fine." You sniff in indignation but you still haven't walked away just yet, and that tells Changkyun that your pride doesn't want to admit that he's right.
   "Listen, noona, you clearly don't want to continue that date. Tell me I'm wrong and I'll walk away. But tell me that you just need some help and I can weasel you out of the situation. You know I'm good for it." He tries to bite back a smile as you chew on your cheek while thinking over his offer.
   "Okay, so the dude creeps me out. There's just something off about this. I've met him a few times. He's a friend of a friend of a friend type of situation. We've talked a little bit after he hit me up on Instagram and he seemed pretty normal, right? But then we get here and he just keeps talking about my skin. About how much he loves my skin and how pretty it is and he keeps trying to hold my hand and like...rub my skin. It's fucking weird and I would rather be run over by a semi-truck than have to endure another one of his sweaty hand-holding moments. Just promise me this, you never speak about this to Hyungwon. I mean it. Boy's a fucking blabbermouth and I don't want to hear about this for the next ten years."
   "Deal." Changkyun sticks out his hand for the two of you to shake on it before he continues speaking. "I have a plan, just go back to the table and act like everything is fine. I'll be over in a minute."
   "If that motherfucker tries to hold my hand again before you get back I swear to god-"
   "I've got this. Just trust me already." He gives a couple of pats to your head before pointing back to your table. "Come on, go. I'm sure he's probably already convinced you're taking a massive shit or something."
   You scoff, muttering something about how he's such a brat as you finally wander back. Now it's time for him to set his quickly thought up plan in motion. He gives it a few moments, scrolling through Instagram before finally making his entrance. He imagines badass escape music playing in the background, visualizing himself as Jason Bourne or Tom Cruise or that dude from Prison Break. Except in this scenario, he's leading someone else to their freedom. A man on a mission. As he rounds the corner and nears your table he can see the villain. He's not ugly, but he's shooting way out of his league aiming for you. The dude's a solid five, plain and boring in every single aspect.
   "Did your mother age well? Because I can see skin like yours as aging flawlessly. It really is perfection. How often do you see an aesthetician if you don't mind me-"
   "(Y/N)? Is that you? Holy shit, it is you. Baby, I've missed you so much. I'm so sorry, I know I fucked up but I'd do anything to get you back. Anything, I mean it." He watches your eye twitch for a moment, a look of pure annoyance stealing over your features before you break out into impromptu theatrical genius.
   "Oh my god, Changkyun I...I never expected to see you here. I...I don't know what to say. It's been so long. I mean, the last time I saw you was when I went back home to see my parents and you were hooking up with Apple, the local juice stand girl whose parents oddly enough owned an orange grove. We don't even have the right climate for an apple orchard. She was the forbidden fruit and yet you took from her."
   "Yeah, well I guess Citron makes for a weirder girls name so they ended up deciding on Apple. But I swear baby, I'm done with that. I wish I had never met her. I'd give up my spleen just to try to make you smile again."
   "Excuse me, but we're in the middle of a date."
   "Oh really? I'm...I'm so sorry it's just that-" Changkyun slides into the booth next to you, grabbing your hand as he speaks, "-you see sir I've always been in love with this girl. Ever since the first time I saw her back on her daddy's ranch I just knew she was the one for me. The way she used to light up as she collected all those eggs-"
   "-Excuse me, but I believe I just said we're on a date. If you could please let go of her hand, you're tainting her perfect skin." Holy Christ, this dude's probably a serial killer. Changkyun is expecting him to break out into Hannibal Lecter quotes any moment now.
   "I'm...I'm sorry. I guess...I guess I can't take back what I've done. I was terrible to you, (Y/N). I'm so sorry. I wish I could get another chance, but I can see I'm not wanted here." Changkyun hangs his head sorrowfully, giving a small fake sob before flinging himself out of the booth. "But I promise you, I would treat you right. This city slicker boy don't know how to handle a girl like you-"
   "Okay that's enough buddy, move along."
   "Well excuse me, but I'm trying to have a meaningful last goodbye with the woman I love. Have you no heart, sir? I just...I just wanted to make my peace. Try one last time. Love is a beautiful thing and I know that I ruined it but gosh darn it how can I walk away from the best yodeler I've ever met?"
   "Nobody but my Daddy has ever thought my yodeling was any good. You really mean that Kkungie?" You stand up dramatically, clutching onto your chest as you try to move closer to Changkyun but your date quickly interjects.
   "Woah, woah, woah. I didn't sign up for this, come on man just let me finish my fucking date in peace. Go home, no one wants to hear your bullshit about orange or whatever her name was and her fucking yodeling."
   "Don't you badmouth my yodeling, Jason! It has a special place in my heart! Come on Changkyun, let's go." Changkyun grins when you grab his hand, but before he can turn around and ride off into the sunset with you he gets cold-cocked by your creepy skin loving date. Right in the jaw.
   "What the fuck dude?" Changkyun stands in between you and the guy, cracking his neck and rubbing at his already swelling jaw before staring him down. He's slightly taller but certainly lighter than Changkyun. "I'm going to give you a few seconds to walk away before I destroy your face to the point that even your own mother won't want to look at you."
   "Do you really think that you can take-" Changkyun doesn't wait for him to finish before punching him square in the face, a startling crack wringing through the air when his knuckles make contact with Jason's nose.
   "Okay, time to go. Let's move it." Changkyun wraps his hand back around you, trying to pull you forward only to find you stationary staring in shock at the scene that just unfolded. "Christ, we need to move it (Y/N)." He waits only a few more seconds before throwing you over his shoulder. "I am not waiting around for cops. I have an ounce on me and I really don't need that kind of stress in my life."
   He books it out of the restaurant as fast as he can, pushing past the confused hostess and ignoring the shouts of whatever his name was coming from behind him. Good god do you owe him now. His jaw smarts, his knuckles are bruised, and he's currently carrying you over his shoulder while trying to run to his car as fast as possible. If this doesn't prove that he loves you, he doesn't know what will. Especially when you consider that he left his fucking tacos at your booth. Well, this is just shaping up to be a fan-fucking-tastic evening.
   He throws open his car door, setting you down on the ground of the passenger side before quickly jogging back over and slamming into the driver's side. "Noona, what the fuck, come on! I don't have all goddamn day!" The sound of Changkyun screaming seems to break you out of your dazed trance, quickly fumbling into the seat and closing the door as he peels out of the parking lot.
   "Drive to my place first please."
   "That was the plan. Also, why are you saying please? This isn't a fucking uber dude."
   "Can't I be polite sometimes?" Changkyun just snorts at that, tapping his fingers on the wheel in impatience when he pulls up to a red light. "Hey, um. Thanks by the way. I mean, I feel there were smarter ways you could have gone about that than pulling the 'old flame' routine out of your ass but I really appreciate your help."
   "Yeah well, I'm not the one who came up with the fucking hick routine. I mean really, Apple? Forbidden fruit? What the fuck was with that?"
   "I kind of just wanted to see how you'd run with it. I wasn't expecting you to go full force with it. Now I'm going to have to retire my yodeling career before I could even start it."
   "It's a shame, I know your daddy was so proud of it."
   "Oh shut it, smart ass." He glances over to see you staring out the window, brain going a million miles a minute as usual. That's how you've always been, in a state of constant thought. He's pretty sure that beyond the immense sexual attraction he has to you the real reason why he always gets pulled into your gravitational force is that you're much like him in that sense. Always trying to see twenty steps ahead, find every possible angle and solution and rework a problem over and over until you see every single way it can all go wrong. It's that same exhaustive thinking that helped you to graduate early and top of your class not just with your bachelors but with your masters just a year after Changkyun started University. It's what makes you uniquely you, but also oddly relatable. You're one of the few people that can keep up with Changkyun, perhaps even remain a few steps ahead of him at all times.
   "You're clearly thinking about something. Do you want to talk about it?"
   "Why did you help me?"
   "Because you're my friend."
   "I mean, yeah. But you just got decked in the fucking face and went on a tirade about your love of my yodeling just to get me out of a shitty date." Changkyun parks in front of your apartment as you speak, a small silence settling over for a moment when he turns off the car.
   "Listen, I wasn't about to just leave you alone with Hannibal for him to cut off your skin and eat it like pork rinds, okay. Friends help friends." He's not entirely lying. He's not telling the whole truth either, but he's hoping it'll be enough to get you off his back. He can tell by the way the gears inside your head are grinding that it's not enough to satisfy you, but for whatever reason, you leave it be for the moment.
   "Well, come on." You climb out of the car, staring at him when he stays stationary. "Are you going to let me put ice on your jaw or not? Besides, you never did get a chance to eat those tacos, at least let me feed you. I think I've got some leftovers you can eat."
   "As long as you don't feed me ramen, I'm fine with that." He follows you quietly to the apartment. Should he have just finally admitted his unrequited love to you then in the car? Do you know and you were just waiting for him to say something? Or do you have an inkling, perhaps suspecting and you're trying to figure out what exactly is going on?
   "Dude, why do you always freeze at my door?" Changkyun blinks, realizing you've already unlocked the door and the look on your face says that the two of you have been standing there for a hot minute.
   "Lost in thought?"
   "What's new." You sigh, ushering him inside before locking the door back behind you again. He stands awkwardly in your kitchen as you rummage around in the freezer before finally pulling out a bag of peas and walking back over to him. "This is going to be cold."
   "Gee, really? I thought it would be scorching hot, having just come out of the freezer and all."
   "Can it, mister. This is my house, which means that I'm the one that gets to be the sarcastic brat. Not you." He snorts in response, flinching slightly under the feeling of the cold bag pressing against his swollen skin. He tries his best to look straight ahead, away from your prying eyes. But try as he might, he's weak to your magnetic gaze. For a moment it's like the world stops, it's almost as though for the first time you're really seeing Changkyun. Not your brother's best friend. Not the snot-nosed brat next door. Not some questionable chemistry major. For once you're looking at him like the man he's become. He can see it in the spark in your eyes, hear it in the hitch of your breath, feel it in the way your hand shakes slightly while trying to hold up the bag of peas.
   And for the first time in his life, Changkyun feels his brain halt functioning. Everything becomes silent, frozen under your stare. As if there's nothing to think about, nothing to worry about. He almost wants to say something, do something. But he's terrified that if does the spell will break, he'll turn into a pumpkin, and you'll go right back to treating him like a little brother. But his eyes betray his decision to do nothing, and he knows you see his gaze flicker down to your lips before traveling back up to your eyes. You never do miss a beat, in fact, he's always questioned how in the fuck you've managed to remain oblivious to his infatuation with you for so long. Unless it's willful ignorance. It's the only thing that makes sense. Which is why he's even more confused by the sensation of your soft lips pressing onto his.
   It's feather light, over in an instant, but he chases after the sensation. One hand wraps into your hair to pull you back for more. You taste like cilantro and flour tortillas and steak, and maybe it's because he's really fucking hungry but he can't get enough. Of the way you taste, the way you feel, the way you sigh softly into his mouth when his free hand presses you closer to him, gripping onto your hips. He'd gladly be punched in the face a thousand times if the end result was you kissing away his wounds each time. Christ, he's dreamed of this moment for so long he was terrified that it wouldn't be that amazing in real life but it's even better. Way better.
   But good things never seem to last long for Changkyun anymore. Because when his dick springs to life you suddenly seem to come back to reality, pulling away with a look of utter confusion and shock. A look at stark odds with the dazed bliss he's sure is playing on his face.
   "This...I'm sorry I...I shouldn't have done that. I don't know what I was thinking. We really shouldn't, um I should. Yeah. I should get the food for you. Um, here just uh hold this to your jaw to stop the swelling. Do you want some ibuprofen or anything before you eat? Are you good? Maybe some water? I'm sure you're thirsty. I can't believe I didn't ask you earlier if you wanted some water."
   In all 14 years of knowing you, he's never once seen you in such a state. He really didn't see this twist coming. He expected you to want to do backflips with him or sing praises to the heavens and then maybe hopefully screw his brains out. Instead, you look horrified, confused, lost, and possibly sickened by what just transpired. Which is just as heartbreaking to him as it is infuriating. If there is a god, he's cruel and unjust. That much Changkyun is certain of right now.
   He watches you zip around the kitchen, flitting from thing to thing for the next few minutes before he finally speaks up. "Are you okay?"
   "Peachy, perfectly fine. Why wouldn't I be okay? It's not like I just made out with my little brother's best friend in my kitchen after he got punched in the face by my possible serial killer date." You top off your jibbering with a high pitched and short-lived laugh. As if to really bring it home to Changkyun that you've officially thrown yourself off the cliff and dived into insanity.
   "I mean...I'm kind of more than just your little brother's best friend. I am my own sentient entity separate from Hyungwon. We aren't like...fucking conjoined twins. And it's not like we're actually related. But yeah that dude did seem like he was going to skin you alive, so I won't argue there." You ignore him, rummaging around the fridge before aggressively slamming a leftover bowl of soup into the microwave. Well, this is just going swimmingly. "(Y/N)...noona, come on. Just talk to me, please."
   "What do you want me to say Changkyun? I fucked up. We fucked up. And it's never going to happen again. I can't let it happen again. It's just...it's not right."
   "Why? Why isn't it right?"
   "Because it just isn't!" He watches you angrily ruffle your hair before spinning back around to face the microwave, your foot tapping away impatiently as the seconds slowly roll by.
   "Fine. Whatever. Listen, keep your dinner. I'll figure something out. I'll catch you some other time." He's out the door before you can respond. It's petty of him, he knows this. He knows he should have waited for you to respond, try to talk this out. Express his real feelings. Explain to you that he doesn't see this as just some random kiss. No, this was much much more for him. But he's angry, confused, and heartbroken so really he's pretty sure taking some time to cool off would be the smartest thing for him to do right now.
--------
   "Dude, what the fuck happened to your face?" It's moments like this that Changkyun really wishes he just had his own space. He actually really likes his dormmate, he's become fast friends with him which is rather unusual for Changkyun. But he just isn't in the mood for any human beings right now.
   "Long story." Changkyun tosses the extra sandwich at Jooheon before flopping down on his bed. He really should have just gotten some tacos again, but somehow they seemed tainted. Worthless. Kind of like him.
   "Descriptive. Not at all cryptic." Changkyun rolls his eyes before glancing over at Jooheon. Maybe it would do some good to tell him. Unlike Hyungwon he won't fall asleep in the middle of explaining everything, although right now he's not sure he really wants to spill his heart out to someone who's going to pay attention.
   "You know (Y/N)?"
   "Hyungwon's sister? The chick you've been obsessed with your whole life? Yeah, you've only brought her up more than a thousand times. What about her? She finally turn you down or something?"
   "How do you know that she didn't confess to being madly in love with me tonight?"
   "You might have the emotional range of a rock most of the time, but I'm pretty sure even you wouldn't be moody and depressed if she suddenly decided that she was into you. Besides, there's kind of that seriously swollen jaw of yours."
   "Fair enough."
   "So what happened?" Jooheon turns back around to resume typing up his paper as he speaks.
   "She kissed me." Changkyun can hear the typing halt almost immediately, silence filling the room for a moment before Jooheon responds.
   "She kissed you?" Jooheon repeats this slowly as if the words seem foreign or the concept impossible. Changkyun glares at Jooheon. Anger and humiliation bubbling up at the sound of complete and utter surprise in Jooheon's voice.
   "Yeah, and then she freaked the fuck out. Said that it was a mistake and she couldn't do this. Said that I was basically her little brother and it was wrong and some other shit."
   "And then she punched you in your face?"
   "What? No. Why would you think that?"
   "Oh, I don't know it might possibly have something to do with the giant bruise forming on your jaw."
   "Right. That. No that happened because I busted her out of a shitty date with some dude who wouldn't shut the fuck up about her skin."
   "Her skin?"
   "Yeah, he was a total basket case. I just happened to be there and noticed how she looked totally miserable so I helped bail her out. Except the dude wasn't too happy about it. Long story short, I got sucker punched. I think I broke his nose. We made a run for it. And then she kissed me when we were at her place and I'm pretty sure I'm doomed to the brother zone for the rest of my life."
   "Please for the love of god stop calling it the brother zone. It sounds creepy and very Alabama."
   "Fine. Whatever, she freaked out okay."
   "So what did you do?"
   "I left. What the fuck else was I supposed to do?"
   "I don't know. Tell her your feelings maybe?"
   "I didn't exactly want to spill my guts to her in a fit of rage."
   "Yeah...I guess I get that. So are you going to tell Hyungwon?"
   "Fuck no. And neither are you. Dude doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut. He's almost as bad as Minhyuk."
   "That's valid. Alright, I won't say anything. But if you need to talk to anybody, I'm here for you bro." If Changkyun had any capacity to feel his emotions left in him, he's pretty sure he'd be touched right now. As it stands though, he's just kind of hoping to wake up and realize that this was all just a shitty dream.
--------------
   It wasn't just a shitty dream. No, in some sick and twisted way he had you for just a fraction of a second before you're even further out of reach. It reminds him of a time that he was so close once before. It was about a year ago, towards the end of his Freshman year.
    You had just completed your capstone for your masters and you were holding a small celebration at your apartment with your closest friends. Once again, Changkyun had felt a bit like the odd kid out of the loop, straying away from human interaction in favor of sipping his cheap shitty beer in peace and quiet out on the patio. It's not that he didn't like parties, he just never knew how he was supposed to behave. Especially when he was around you. For some reason, he was perpetually nervous that he'd seem like the uncool dweeb who was your pity friend. You constantly told him that wasn't true whenever he'd bring it up but isn't that exactly what you'd tell someone who was only your friend because you felt bad for them?
   Hyungwon was convinced that Changkyun was on his man period, and while he'd tried to drag him back into the party a few times he'd clearly given up about an hour ago. That was perfectly fine with Changkyun. He'd had his own finals to contend with, and honestly, his brain was too fried to focus on a conversation for long. At least, he was sure of that until you stepped out onto the patio with two beers in your hand. You silently handed one to him before popping open the other and sipping from it. Somehow, you always knew how to find him. And he appreciated that you never chastised him for doing his own thing away from everyone else. "I know you hate coming to parties. But I really appreciate that you came. Don't tell anyone else, but I think you're my favorite guest here tonight."
   "I don't hate them. Hate's a strong word. Shouldn't you know that ms 'I'm about to get my masters in linguistics?'"
    "I can't believe it. That I'm finally here, that I've reached my goal. It feels like just yesterday you were helping me pack everything up to start university and pilfering my underwear. And now I'm getting my masters."
   "I didn't steal your underwear!" He knew that his bright red face gave away his lie. He totally stole a few pairs. But he isn't about to admit that. He knows it's...incredibly creepy. Crosses a lot of boundaries. But to be fair, these were clean pairs. He also would never in a million years do it again. He lacked impulse control then, but that doesn't save him from the burning embarrassment he's feeling now. Oh god. You probably think he's a closet perv.
   "It's fine. I thought it was funny. Don't worry, I never told anyone about it. If anyone else had done it, I would've been pissed. But for some reason, it's impossible to be mad at you. Maybe he was right."
   "Who was right? About what?" He hated when you got cryptic on him. At the same time, he loved that about you. The way you lived in a world of puzzles and riddles and sometimes cracked open for only certain people to see. It was as infuriating as it was attractive.
   You took a long pause before guzzling down the rest of your beer, staring off over the patio before speaking just above a whisper. "You know...in another life, maybe we would be great. Two fucked up peas in a pod." Before he could even respond you were gone, slipping back into the party and leaving him to dwell on the weight of your words. In another life? No. You'd be great together in this one. And now he wanted, more than ever before, to prove that to you. Because now he feels like he might really have a shot at this.
--------------
   It's been nearly two months since Changkyun last saw you. This is the longest he's gone without seeing your face with the exception of the three years he was in high school and you were in University if you don't count the weekly skype calls. At this point, he's run out of excuses and it's clear that Hyungwon is suspicious. He was given little choice but to either expose what happened to his best friend and be mocked for the rest of his existence, or finally go with him for Sunday brunch again. Which is how Changkyun finds himself standing in front of your door, fidgeting restlessly and trying not to imagine every doom and gloom possibility.
   Changkyun fights the urge to run away when you open the door, your mouth falling open in shock for a moment before you plaster on an uncomfortable smile and usher both of them in.
   "It's been a while Kkungie. What mayhem have you been up to?"
   "He's been an oddly good boy. A total square dweeb. I keep trying to get him to come hang out, but he's been doing nothing but studying." Hyungwon pipes up, grabbing a slice of quiche without asking before he meanders over to his usual spot on the couch.
   "You could learn something from him. There is more to life than sleep and girls."
   "Laaaaaame. I came here for free food and Netflix, and honestly, I am feeling so attacked right now."
   Changkyun shakes his head at the bickering, relaxing a bit as he grabs a plate. Everything seems like it's gone right back to normal. As if you didn't kiss him and then have an existential crisis just a couple of months ago. Changkyun isn't sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Then again, he wasn't really expecting for you to leap into his arms and throw yourself at him the moment you finally saw him again. Hoping for it, sure. Expecting it, not really. The odds of it were slim to none and Changkyun is, unfortunately, a realist through and through.
   The feeling of eyes on him has Changkyun glancing up, you look oddly unsure of yourself for a moment before quickly looking away. He swears that he sees a slight blush on your cheeks, but maybe that's just that stupid bit of hope in him that refuses to fucking die already. Life would be so much easier for him if he could just move on already. It would probably be easier for you too. But the heart wants what the heart wants, no matter how ridiculous or improbable it is.
   After that small moment, the rest of the time seems to pass by easily. Comfortably. Normally. He likes to think of himself as a master of deception at this point. A man completely in control of his own emotions. Because really all he wants to do is kiss you again. He didn't think that he'd be this obsessive with it, but seeing you again has his memories playing on a loop. How soft you were, how quickly you switched from hesitance to hunger before it all went downhill. Really fucking downhill. Straight into the ocean actually.
   "Shit, I forgot I have a date." Hyungwon's bizarre spike of energy has both you and Changkyun freezing.
   "With who? Your hand?" Changkyun tries, and fails, at not laughing at your jab to Hyungwon.
   "Rude, unlike you, I'm not having problems getting laid. If you must know, I have a date with Lisa. And I'm about to be really fucking late. Changkyun, can I borrow your keys?"
   "Just my keys? I would have figured that you'd want the car that comes with those keys too."
   "Har har jackass. Can I borrow your car or not?"
   "Why not just borrow mine?" You pipe up, nodding your head in the direction of your key ring resting on the kitchen counter.
   "Because the backseat of your car is always a mess of random clothes."
   "Okay, that's just gross. I didn't need that visual."
   "What? I didn't say anything gross." Hyungwon tries to play coy but the damage has been done.
   "You basically alluded to fucking your date in the back of a car to your sister."
   "Et tu, Brute? Et tu? Fine, just for that, need I remind you of the time you got caught sleeping with Rose in the park?" Changkyun rolls his eyes before digging his keys out of his pocket and tossing them to Hyungwon.
   "Thanks for just airing all my shit out. Again." Changkyun rolls his eyes before digging his keys out of his pocket and tossing them to Hyungwon. "You know the rules. If you're going to have sex in it, get it detailed before you bring it back."
   "Yeah, that's not going to happen. The detailing, that is. Later losers." Before either of them can respond he's out the door. He might usually move at a snail's pace, but when he wants to the lanky little shit can certainly move fast.
   "Does he do that a lot?"
   "Run his mouth? Yeah. Have you never met your brother?"
   "No, use your car for exhibitionism."
   "Way more often than I care to think about."
   "I'm never sitting in the backseat again."
   "It's a wise choice." An uncomfortable silence fills the air for a moment before he finally tries to speak up. "So-"
   "I was-" Both of you stop, and he fights a smile at the way you laugh. You've never had a particularly cute laugh. It's one of those cackle-snort-choke laughs that makes everyone else pause for a moment when they hear it. It's endearing. Heartwarming. God, he's missed even your ugly laugh. He's definitely whipped. "Sorry, you first."
   "I was just going to ask how you've been. If you're okay." Changkyun stares at the floor as he speaks, afraid to look you directly in the eyes.
   "What?"
   "Well, I just kind of dipped while you were in the middle of an existential crisis which wasn't cool of me. I'm sorry about that. And then I've been blowing things off because I figured you needed your space, but I want you to know that I have been concerned. I care about you, you know. So I'm sorry for running away. And I want to know, are you okay?"
   He watches you slowly blink when he finally glances up, the gears grinding a million miles a minute in your head before you finally speak again. "I've been...I've been okay. Confused. Unsure. Scared."
   "None of that sounds okay."
   You give a snort, shaking your head as you look at him. For a moment he swears he sees that fire again. That look that tells him that you're looking at him, looking into his soul. Figuring him out. Reading him. Wanting him. He likes that look far too much for his own good, especially because it's over in a flash. Almost imperceptible. He's sure that if he didn't know you as well as he does he wouldn't have even noticed it. He guesses he's not the only master of deception. "Listen, you weren't the only one that fucked up. I shouldn't have freaked out on you like that. I'm the adult, I shouldn't have taken it all out on you like that. I'm sorry for that."
   "We're both adults. Stop acting like your this old sage grandmother, you're only four fucking years older than me. I know that I'm a bit of an oddball, and I might not be like all the guys you date with their own places and a steady career, but I am an adult."
   "In the eyes of the law sure." That stung way more than it should have, and he knows that for a moment his mask breaks and you can see the pain flash in his eyes by the way you rush to fix your fuck up. "I'm sorry, that was rude. I just. I have a hard time seeing you as all grown up. The same way I have a hard time seeing Hyungwon as anything other than my stupid little brother who always stole my video games."
   "So what exactly do I need to do to make you see me as a man? Not some little boy, not your little brother's best friend. Just me."
   "I don't think I understand what you're asking."
   "Noona, you know exactly what I fucking mean. Do I need to spell it out? Because I will if that's what you want. I've been in love with you for as long as I can remember. And I know you might see it as just some dumb crush, but trust me. It's not. I want you, all of you. And I don't know what I need to do for you to finally see me as a worthy candidate for you, but whatever I need to do I will. We both know that I'm stubborn as hell, so if you don't tell me what I need to do don't think that I'll just give up."
   "I...what?" You stop, freezing under his stare for what feels like eons before you finally manage to speak again. "I don't know what to say. I don't know."
   "Well think about it. Because I'm not going to back down easily. Tell me that you don't want me, tell me that you aren't at all interested and I'll back off. But if there's even the slightest fucking chance that I can get you to finally see me for me and not just your little brother's best friend I'm not about to back down. I'm a patient man, I've waited this long to get you to even think about it. I have no problems with waiting longer if it means getting you at the end." He doesn't like to think of himself as a cocky man, and he knows that if you've ever paid a lick of attention to him in all these years you'll know he only speaks when he knows he can back it up. He watches you closely, trying to gauge your reaction but your face seems completely blank. He isn't sure if this is in his favor or against it. Whatever the case might be, he's finally said what he's needed to say.
   "I'm still not sure what to say. Or think. I had no clue that you felt that way."
   "We both know that's bullshit. You had to have known, you aren't that dense of a person."
   "That's a valid point. But I just assumed that...I don't know that you were just like every other dumb horny boy out there. I didn't think that there was anything deeper to it. I'm just...speechless. I can't give you any answers right now Changkyun, I'm sorry."
   "That's okay. I don't need answers right now. I told you, I'm a patient dude. Just do me a favor and think about it." He grabs the dishes left on the coffee table and brings them back to the kitchen, rinsing them off silently before throwing them in the dishwasher. He has no interest, truly, in doing the dishes to get brownie points. No the real reason why he's done this is because it gives him a prime and unobtrusive view of you. The way you sink slightly into confusion, cogs moving slowly as the calculations begin. This is good, this means that you're thinking about it. You aren't simply blowing him off as you usually would. Perhaps he does stand a chance.
   Changkyun watches you for a moment longer before clearing his throat. "Well, I appreciate the food. I'm going to head back now, I've got some papers I want to finish up." That's a lie, he's been caught up on everything for weeks now. Now that he hasn't been spending any time at your place or going to parties he's been working as far ahead as he can. He figures though that it's a simple enough of a lie that you'll believe him. Which is important, because he needs a way to give you some space without making things awkward.
   "How are you going to get back? Hyungwon took your car. Do you want me to drive you?"
   "Nah, it's no biggie. I can just skip going to the gym today and walk instead."
   "No, no I insist. Either we wait for my dipshit brother to come back or I'll drive you. But I don't feel right with making you walk."
   "It's two miles, I'll survive. I promise. On cardio days I usually run for five, trust me, I'll be okay." He watches you glare at him, your mouth opening and closing repeatedly before you finally sigh and nod.
   "Fine. You know you can really be stubborn when you want to."
   "I know. I go for what I want and I usually try to find a way to get it. You, for instance. That's at least the big picture goal."
   "What do you mean big picture goal?"
   "Jesus, Noona, I meant what I said earlier. I'm not just thinking about this as some one-off thing. I want you. Emotionally, sexually, hell I'll tack on spiritually for good measure. Everything about you drives me crazy, I want that in my life. I want you in my life. Not as a friend. Not simply as my childhood friend. I'm not sure what part about that is so difficult to understand, but I mean it. I'm not asking for you to jump into my arms or my bed right now, although I wouldn't turn it down either, I just want you to honestly think about it. Because for as long as I can remember I've been in love with you, and I don't want to pressure you into anything but I do want a shot at this. I don't want to just be passed off as 'oh it's just a cute crush.' Because that's not what this is." He pauses for a moment, assessing the way you squint and try to analyze everything. Ever the thinker, always trying to find logic even in the midst of a romantic confession. Or at least a passionate confession, Changkyun would like to think. "Just think about it. Thanks again for the breakfast, I'll catch you around." He waits for a moment before pressing his lips to your forehead and striding out the door. Well more like ran out the door, but in his head, he walked out with confidence and gusto and was most certainly not tripping over himself before victory dancing at that small peck.
   The only problem that Changkyun sees in all of this is that he's a man of carefully calculated planning, usually. Being a man of brute action just isn't his style. He wants to be sure that all pawns are in their places before a glorious victory. He's the type to always think five steps ahead. But something happened to him when you kissed him after he rescued you from the budding Hannibal. It rewired his brain, or maybe his dick because he's a bit foggy on everything. He's positive that this will help you finally look at him, but at the same time, he isn't one to be so brash. He's just hoping that perhaps this was still the right method needed. Whatever the case might be all he can do for now is try to craft some sort of a game plan to prove himself to you.
----------------------
   "So you finally confessed to her?" Jooheon is tossing snacks into Minhyuk's mouth as he asks this, Minhyuk almost choking when a pretzel gets nearly lodged in his throat.
   "Yup. She said she didn't know what to say. She really thought that I was just, I don't know, some annoying horny kid or something. Maybe? Or maybe she doesn't even want to acknowledge that I have a dick? It's really all hard to say right now."
   "Pun intended or??" Minhyuk ducks when Changkyun throws a pillow at his face. "Sorry, sorry. I get it you're all serious and whipped for this girl."
   "Woman. Have some respect."
   "Christ." Jooheon and Minhyuk speak at the same time. The double trouble twins back at it again. Changkyun should have known better than to tell them anything, but he needed comrades if he was going to carry anything through. And as much as he loves Hyungwon, he's pretty sure that he'll either sleep through his battle planning meetings or simply spend the entire time razzing him. Neither of which are very helpful.
   "Well, knowing you, you have a plan. So what is it?" Minhyuk sprawls out on his stomach, kicking his feet behind him as he blinks up at Changkyun.
   "I...I don't have one."
   "WHAT?" The double trouble twins really do excel at synchronization.
   "That's my problem, I didn't think any of this through. I kind of...I don't know I figured that my confession would have more of an impact maybe? I didn't expect a deer in headlights response, although I suppose I really should have taken that into consideration. It is the most logical of responses really. And I told her that I'd prove to her that I'm a man now. I don't know why I said that. The more I think about it the more...embarrassing the whole situation becomes. Christ guys what am I going to do?"
   "Defeat the Huns?" Minhyuk really isn't the most helpful person sometimes. But he does strike genius every once and a while. Especially when it comes to nefarious plottings. Unfortunately, now is clearly not one of those times. "Don't give me that look. I'm thinking. Okay well, has she seen your abs?"
   "Yes, I just flash them at random to people." Changkyun holds back the urge to roll his eyes as he deadpans his sarcasm. "Of course she hasn't you nit-wit. The need for her to see them has never really been there."
   "Oh, but you have no problem walking around here naked."
   "For fuck's sake Jooheon, you caught me one time and I promised never again. And it was in our room for god's sake, not out in fucking public. Let it go, man."
   "Back on track, I say you show her your abs. That should get her hot and bothered. Works for all the football players here at least." Minhyuk nods his head as he speaks as if agreeing with himself will somehow make Changkyun more likely to agree.
   "And how, pray tell, do I go about this in some semblance of normalcy?"
   "Pool party!" Jooheon pipes up, before stopping. "Wait...none of us have a pool."
   "But...she does. Her complex has a pool there, and summer is almost here."
   "Okay, so here's what you do. You drop random hints about girls in bikinis, lazing outside under the sun with hot girls around him, and eventually just casually ask him about the pool at (Y/N)'s complex. If you do this slowly enough, and we all drop hints randomly together, he'll think it's one hundred percent his idea and he should go for it. The real question is, will she?" Minhyuk is animated as he speaks, lighting up as the plan forms in his seedy little brain.
   "She would have rules and provisions for allowing it, but yeah she'd say yes to him. She pretends to acts all tough, but she rarely says no to him. The real question is though, how are showing my abs off really going to win her over?"
   "A bit of jealousy my friend. I know some girls who've been interested in you. We invite them, we watch them latch onto you like the harlots they so desperately want to be with you, and ignite the secret yearning in (Y/N)'s heart for this forbidden love." Minhyuk adds on an evil cackle at the end, stopping only when a cough takes over.
   "This seems all very...I don't know, cliche and high school if you ask me. I mean, no offense to your plan I just don't think that her seeing my abs and other chicks are going to make her magically say 'ah yes this is a man I can see myself seriously dating and possibly spending my life with.' I appreciate the effort though."
   "No, no Minhyuk has a point. And let's say it doesn't go as planned, at least we all get a pool party out of it. I promise if you're right and we're wrong we'll help you hatch a different plan of attack. But for now, let's at least see how this goes. On an unrelated note, I'm starving. Do you guys want to go grab some pizza?"
------------
   A month and a half later and Changkyun is sipping a beer from a plastic cup (no glass allowed near the pool as per lease terms and your strict warnings) as he takes in the sight before him. The first half of the plan went swimmingly (pun intended), but the latter half Changkyun still isn't so sure about. You barely even glanced at him before running back up to your apartment to grab some ice. Oh well, if it all goes to shit at least he gets to see you in a bikini again. He's been needing to update his internal spank bank material if he's honest. His sights still linger on your door, waiting for you to come back out when Hyungwon floats over to the edge where Changkyun has his feet dipped in.
   "Dude, what's the point of being at a pool party if you aren't even going to talk to babes or get in the pool?"
   "I'm enjoying my drink without dealing with the taste of chlorine mixing into it, and I'm not here for the babes." Changkyun is here for one babe, one babe currently avoiding him. Plan ABduction (named by Minhyuk) is so far failing spectacularly. What's the point of showing off his newer more manly physique if you aren't even here to ogle him like a magnificent slab of meat before ravaging him?
   "Now that's just not fair. Seulgi and Joy have been staring at you the entire time and you haven't even taken the hint. If you aren't going to get them then I will. You know they're in like an open relationship or whatever? I'm just saying, I feel like a threesome is on the tables with them. I've heard-"
   "Dude, they aren't just objects to be passed around. They're real human beings. I mean listen, if they're down then that's between you and them as three consenting adults. But you've been hanging out with way too many frat fuckers if you think that you can just talk about women as if they can be passed around to the highest bidder. Stop letting your dick talk, no one wants to hear it speak."
   "Woah, calm down you know I didn't...no I guess you're right. I didn't think about how that would come out. Maybe I should lay off the drinks. And the frat parties." Hyungwon floats in the other direction after that, leaving Changkyun to his solo bliss.
   It's a small party, per your rules. There are about 12 people total including Changkyun and you. Not surprisingly, Hyungwon invited mostly girls (who weren't friends with his currently off on again off again girlfriend Lisa), along with Jooheon and Minhyuk. Everyone else has been congregating by the more shallow end of the pool, drunkenly trying to play cards against humanity without getting the cards wet. He's pulled out of his thoughts by the sight of your feet dipping next to his.
   "I heard what you said to Hyungwon. Thanks for not letting his head get too far up his own ass. I don't think I give you enough credit for keeping him somewhat normal. Well, as normal as frog boy can be."
   "I don't think we can call him normal, I mean you can't even call me normal. I just try to keep him...safe for public consumption. He's just going through that college freedom insanity phase still. He'll get over it eventually."
   "Oh, I remember those days."
   "You? I can't see you as ever flying off the handles noona."
   "Oh but I did. You've got to remember, Hyungwon and I grew up in a pretty conservative home. My freshman year of college was a blur of parties, random hookups, and various substances smattered between cramming and making sure my grades didn't drop. Unlike Hyungwon, I made sure I was never on the verge of failing a class and having to explain that to my parents. I wanted to look like a model student to keep them off my asses. And it worked. Until I realized that I wasn't actually having fun and the parties and hookups felt empty and I started settling back down. I've got to say though, I didn't take you for the more level headed of the two. Hyungwon was always so uptight I figured you'd be the free spirit and he'd be the anchor."
   "I mean, I wouldn't say I'm entirely level headed, I just think things through more than him right now. Most of the time, that is." There's a pause after he looks at you. It's breathtaking, the way your profile glows under the setting sun, a small coy smile lighting up your face.
   "I have to ask, why aren't you talking to those girls? They've been stealing glances at you the entire time and they don't look all too pleased with me right now. They're pretty girls you know."
   "Sure, they're very pretty. But they aren't you. It's as simple as that." Changkyun watches a blush creep onto your cheeks as you quickly look away and clear your throat. Now that's a response he was hoping for but not expecting. Perhaps Minhyuk's plan hasn't entirely gone to shit.
   "Well, that was rather matter of fact of you."
   "You're cute when you blush."
   "I'm going to choke you if you don't stop."
   "I'm into that. I mean I usually prefer to be the one giving, but I think I'd be into anything with you." The look in your eyes threaten a possible painful death for him, but the way you've turned beet red tells him that his words affect you. That's got to be a good sign. Right?
   "You weren't kidding when you said you were stubborn and weren't going to give up. That I can tell. I think I'm just still iffy on the why. I mean, what exactly is it about me?"
   "There are too many reasons to count. I think I knew you were the one when you said that pokemon yellow was superior because it showed you the emotions of Pikachu but the pitfall of the game was that you couldn't see all of their emotions and it was limited to just Pikachu."
   "That's...absurd. How in the fuck do you even remember that?"
   "I don't know, but I can tell you that love is absolutely absurd and convoluted and I've stopped trying to fight it or understand it. For the longest time, I tried to get over you, mainly because everyone had decided that you and Shochu-"
   "-Shownu?"
   "Yeah, sure, him. Everyone figured the two of you were going to get married and pop out babies and be the town's most beautiful couple or whatever. The point is, I figured that I had lost my chance and it was time to tuck tail before even trying. But then you guys broke up. And then you moved away, and I thought well maybe now I'll get over it. Except, the funny thing or infuriating depending on how you look at it is I couldn't get you out of my fucking head. The way you smile, the way you laugh, the way you have to reason absolutely everything, but most importantly the way that you see five steps ahead almost every time and somehow you see things how I see them when no one else does. Except for probably right now guessing by the look on your face. Do you finally get that-" He's cut off by the sensation of your lips pressing firmly to his own. It's not like the first time you kissed him, where it started off unsure and soft, no this one radiates the confidence he's always admired in you. The take no prisoners attitude of yours. And boy oh boy if he isn't melting like a high school girl hearing a 'sup' from her crush.
   He can feel his soul depart from his body for just a moment before blood threatens to rush to his dick in a very public place with only a flimsy pair of swim trunks to shield him. As much as Changkyun would like to pull you closer and turn this into a makeout session, he's pretty sure that popping a boner is against your pool rules. So instead, he quickly pushes himself into the pool at around the same time he realizes the others are whistling and hollering while Hyungwon lets out a wail of sheer disgust. Oh well, you can't win them all.
   He almost expects you to run away again, but this time you're just smiling. As if all is well in this shit hole of a world and as if you're actually happy to kiss him. Oh my god, you really are happy that you kissed him. Sweet mother of fuck, he could die right now and he'd be okay with that. "Wow. That was...wow." He ignores the finally dying out enthusiasm around him, instead just trying to focus on taking in your visage.
   "Fantastic description, you really are such a wonderful poet."
   "Are you ever not sarcastic?"
   "Are you?"
   "That's valid." He pauses at the sound of your laughter, that familiar dying seel noise making his heart thud against his ribcage and sets a frenzy of butterflies loose in his gut. When you finally stop he can't help but ask, "So why did you kiss me? I mean, don't get me wrong it was a solid 10 out of 10, would most certainly do it again. But I mean...now I'm the one who's iffy."
   "Truth be told, I've been thinking about it a lot. Probably longer than you would think, as in before the first time I kissed you. You're not exactly bad looking if you haven't noticed. And while your personality is rather questionable it's questionable in all the right ways. Most of the time that is. But as you know, I'm a chronic overthinker. And I just figured I'd look like a cradle robber, or worse, a cougar on the prowl. I figured that you weren't super serious about it, and I'm just past that age of just fucking for the sake of fucking and I would especially never cross that weird boundary with someone I'm so close to. I know I say you're Hyungwon's friend because you are, but you're just as much my friend too. And that makes it kind of scary. A little too vulnerable for my normal liking, you know? But after your third confession, I realized that you couldn't still be trying this hard just to simply get in my pants. Third time's the charm I guess."
   "So where exactly does that place us now? I'll leave that one hundred percent in your court, but I'm not opposed to a shotgun wedding."
   "I'd have to be pregnant for it to be a shotgun wedding you absolute dork."
   "I'm not opposed to that. Just picture us, lots of little hellions running around as we have exhausted five-minute quickies during their short-lived naps. Living the dream."
   "That sounds absolutely terrible and I'm going to have to pass on that nightmare. I figured we could start off like normal human beings, you know, dating? As in actually going out and being boyfriend and girlfriend and not rushing into a Las Vegas wedding with fat Elvis as our officiate."
   "I'll agree, but I'd like to negotiate on fat Elvis at a later date please."
   "Deal."
   "Did you dorks just enter into like a dating contract or something?" Minhyuk swims over to them, trying to rapidly flee when you start splashing water at his face. "Woah, woah watch the money maker there miss. I am the mastermind behind all of this, I expect to be the best man!"
   "Ignore him, he's an idiot." Changkyun glares at Minhyuk before turning back to you. He kind of wants to squeal, he's that happy. He had never thought about the possibility of you having actually already liked him. You having a near panic attack after the first time you kissed him kind of killed all of those illusions of grandeur. "Noona, can I take you out on a date right now?"
   "And leave these dumbasses to burn down my apartment and get me evicted, ruin my nearly perfect credit score, and leave me homeless? I think not. How about tomorrow?"
   "Tonight?"
   "It's already six. God clearly did not bless you with patience as you've so boldly claimed to me before."
   "I'm not going to pretend to be patient when I have this opportunity right in front of me. So we'll tell them all to get their asses home at eight. Do you really want to stick around them for that much longer? I mean, they're already trashed." He watches you squint at the college kids splashing around, loudly giggling as incoherent babbles slur out of one person after the next.
   "You make a strong argument. Alright, fine. Eight o'clock it is. But you get to tell everyone that they have to wrap it up, I refuse to be the bearer of bad news to them."
   "OY FUCKERS!" Changkyun watches as almost everyone slowly glances over at him with glazed over eyes and alcohol-induced smiles. "You've gotta get your asses out of here by 8!"
   "FINE MOM." Jooheon hollers back before they all return to their still ongoing game of cards against humanity. He's pretty sure half of the deck has sunken to the bottom of the pool at this point.
   "Well, that was easy. As much as I'd love to stay for you to herd the flock back to safety later, I've got to go set up for our date. I'll pick you up." Before he pulls himself out of the pool, however, he makes sure to swim up to you and pull you in for another deep kiss. God, your lips just feel so right. So perfect. Like he's finally found his home and he never wants to leave. If he's honest he wants to do this date so quickly just to prove that all of this is real. He didn't expect you to respond to him in earnest so quickly, and now he feels both a sense of extreme exhilaration and joy coupled with looming anxiety that if he doesn't actually take you out on a date soon he'll wake up and find out that this was all an elaborate dream. Or worse, a prank.
------------------
   It's currently just a few minutes past eight and Changkyun is sitting uncomfortably straight on your couch as he waits for you to finish changing. He can't remember the last time he was this nervous for a date. Middle school dance perhaps? Shit, his palms are even sweaty now. He wipes them on his jeans and takes a moment to stare at his reflection. He doesn't look too shabby. The leather jacket, beanie, black t-shirt, and fitted ripped black skinnies are a classic look. You can't go wrong with that, right? Oh god, what if you wanted him to look classy? Does this look too much like a college kid? No...no this is fine. It kind of has to be, you've already seen him. You didn't comment much though. Shit.
   In the midst of his self deprecating anxiety riddled thoughts running rampant, he sees you step into the living room. You're wearing a simple white sundress and sandals, but there's something about it that drives those obnoxious butterflies wild in his stomach. Maybe it's just you. He swears you could wear a potato sack and he'd still think that you're the most beautiful thing he's ever seen. It's not fair how little you have to do to captivate him while he's worried about simple things like if his t-shirt is too casual to impress you.
   "Are you ready to go? I'm surprised with how impatient you were to get on with this date that you weren't hollering at me to hurry up while I changed."
   "We have all the time in the world tonight. And I'm glad I didn't rush you because you look...stunning."
   "Well, I hope I'm dressed okay for whatever you have planned. You still aren't going to tell me where we're going are we?"
   "Now who's the impatient one?" Changkyun can't help but smile at the way you roll your eyes before linking hands with him. Christ, you're really going to be the death of him. He still can't believe this is happening. He might have been the one who rushed into this date, but his brain still can't wrap around the fact that you've now kissed him twice and asked him out. Over the moon doesn't even begin to describe his enthusiasm. "No, I'd rather not spoil the surprise."
----------
   It isn't long before Changkyun is pulling up to a secluded back entrance to a lake. You had once brought Hyungwon and him here during a summer visit the summer of your sophomore year. He was attacked by leeches and you had to rummage through your backpack for salt packets you pilfered at fast food places for no apparent reason. But for some reason, he felt that this just had to be the place to take you. That same day you had opened up to him about the gnawing loneliness that had occurred after leaving home, but how you refused to come back with your tail tucked between your legs to be another small town girl who just couldn't make it in a bigger city. It was the first time that you had ever confided in him, the first time that he had seen the infallible you seem so scared and lost. It had started a shift in your friendship, you had trusted in him at that moment with something you hadn't shared with anyone else.
   "I can't believe you actually remember this place. I feel I should warn you, I don't carry pilfered salt packets around with me anymore so taking a dip in the lake probably isn't the best idea."
   "Are you kidding me? I'd rather try to tame a wolf than enter that godforsaken water ever again."
   "Taming a wolf sounds badass."
   "See, you get it. Please, tell that to Hyungwon." In just a matter of seconds, he's getting out of the car and jogging around to open up your door before rummaging around in the backseat for his backpack. Unfortunately, or possibly fortunately for you, he doesn't have a kitchen to even try to make some sort of picnic evening meal from scratch. Instead, he's spent his time zipping around the grocery store for easy enough things like premade and overpriced salads, a bottle of grey goose (he'd rather not spend that much on alcohol, but he knows that you're a staunch advocate for top-shelf liquor), and a bottle of lemonade. He grabs the blanket from the back and leads the way to a small clearing before setting everything up.
   "I can't help but wonder how long you've had this date actually planned. This seems like a lot for something so last minute."
   "Does it? Well I mean, I guess I've kind of had this idea running around my head for a while. I kept hoping that you'd ask me to actually prove myself and take you out on a date and bam I could surprise you with a moonlit dinner by the lake that would be so beautiful and thoughtful you'd go 'oh Changkyun you're so sweet' and fall madly in love with me. But I'm not going to pretend I'm not ecstatic about the way how everything worked out in the end."
   He watches you take a sip of the drink he pours for you, the way you gaze at him so intently before slipping into a comfortable silence as you take in your surroundings. It isn't until he's handed you your salad that you finally speak up. "You know...this lake holds a very important memory for me." You take a long pause, glancing over at him before continuing. "God, how long ago was it that I took you guys here? Four years ago? No. Shit, it had to have been about six years ago now, almost seven. I was going through this really rough patch. When you're a kid you think you have everything all figured out and then life hits you repeatedly in the face until you realize that you actually don't know shit. But just like you, I'm a rather stubborn person. I tried so hard to look like I was doing well when you guys came out to visit me for summer, tried to pretend like I wasn't emotionally falling apart at the seams. But I knew you could see past that facade. You've always been eerily observant of those around you, even if it looks like you're completely oblivious. But you didn't say anything, you just played along with my act of complete happiness at being miles away from everything I've ever known. Isolated and struggling to find decent friends. Until we got to this lake, and you finally asked me why I looked so hollow when I smiled when I was in the middle of pouring salt on those disgusting leeches. You wouldn't let me play it off. You said that it wasn't healthy to keep it all bottled in and for the first time in a long time I came clean. And I realized something then. Not only were you wise beyond your years, but I had always relied on you more than I had realized. You were always around to listen to me bitch about boys and parties and my parents. You had always supported me when I said I wanted to get my masters in linguistic anthropology, a very obscure field that everyone figured would amount to nothing."
   You take another long pause, taking a few bites of food and sipping on your drink before looking straight at him. It's the look of analysis, that look that says you can see right through him and into his soul. Almost as if you've found a way to dive into someone's psyche and rummage around all of their thoughts. "It wasn't until a couple of years later that I understood the full weight of this realization. I figured you were just my closest friend. An ally in the midst of an internal battle, if you will. But then one night I was having an argument with Kihyun and I told him that he wasn't supportive the way you were. which is a really fucking weird thing to say to your boyfriend, you know? He was quick to point that out to me, and then he said that he didn't want to be my second choice. I think I fell in love with you at this lake, and I was just too arrogant to realize it. I'm sorry that I'm a bit of a mess. And that I keep kissing you without properly explaining or resolving things. I can't tell you how long I've wanted to tell you all of this. It feels nice to finally come clean. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I love you Changkyun. I love you for you. For all the weird things you do. For being there for me when no one else was. For just simply existing. For being my number one supporter. For working so hard all these years to keep up with me when really you've always been ahead in your own ways. I love the way you look at me, the way you make me feel like everything is good and pure and safe when I'm around you. I love that I can just be myself around you and how you don't hold back when you're around me. I love you."
   "Holy shit." He expects to hear another quip about his failure of eloquent words but instead, you just laugh. Never in a million years would he have guessed that his unrequited love had been reciprocated for so long. To be fair, the two of you have tangled yourselves in rather complicated webs. It would be nice if life could be so straight forward in a way that the two of you could have just said all of this years ago, but neither of you are the same people now as you were back then. You've both grown, changed. He knows that he would've felt too unsure of himself, that the relationship would have been doomed to failure had you actually been honest back then because he really was too young. A bit too inept to keep up with you, a bit too insecure to have been able to confidently be by your side. But now? Now all he can think of is how much he wants to grow with you, for you, for himself. But his brain isn't allowing him to just get the damn words out.
   After what feels like an eternity he finally manages to croak out, "I've been in love with you for so long that it's surreal hearing that you've felt the same way. I've dreamt of this moment you know? And I'm a little disappointed that a rainbow isn't shooting out of the night sky with a leprechaun showering us in gold because it feels like that damn magical. It just feels all...I don't know rather anticlimactic I guess, but I don't mean that in a bad way. Because this is real. It's not some romanticized fantasy. It feels natural and right and real, and holy shit do I really want to kiss you. Can I? Kiss you that is?"
   He watches the way you tilt your head back and laugh before pulling in closer to him, a smile on your lips as you cock an eyebrow up and say, "I think that sounds perfect right about now." That's all he needs to hear before he places one hand on the back of your head and drags you into a slow kiss.
   Every time he's kissed you it's been different. The first time was unsure, then heated, and then finally very cold. A microwave meal kiss seems an apt description to him. The second time, earlier today, that one was a declaration. It was bold. Firm. A statement. That you weren't holding back. That you wanted him. But this one is slower, more sensual. There's something lingering just underneath the surface, the sexual tension that's been building for years is trying to crash through the tidal waves of emotions. This time the two of you are confirming all the unsaid things. All the time it's taken to grow. All the time it's taken to reach this point where you could be honest. And happy. And in love. A budding love, sure. But it's mutual.
   It's when he slips his tongue into your mouth that the sexual tension finally breaks through. The soft groan from your throat reverberates through his body, lighting a hunger in him as his hands quickly pull you into his lap. You respond in kind, your hands quick to roam under his shirt and across the firm planes of his abs. Perhaps Minhyuk was right. Abs are indeed a golden ticket. Not that Changkyun will ever tell him that. His hands grip tightly at your hips as he places open-mouthed kisses along your neck before stopping at the top of your breasts before you pull back to take off your dress before tugging his shirt over his head.
   "I'm not usually a first date kind of gal. Not that there's a problem with that, but I have trust issues I guess. What I'm trying to say is I want you. I really want you, I don't care where we are or that this is really rushing into things, but so help me god if I don't fuck you soon Changkyun I might combust."
   "Spontaneous combustion is one of my favorite myths but I'd really rather not witness that before I get to finally feel you. Shit, I want to be inside you so bad. Do you know how many times I've jerked off to the thought of you?"
   "Many a tube sock ruined in high school, I can imagine. I pray that you did your own laundry."
   "Of course I did! God, there is no way in hell I'd make my poor mom go through that. Puberty is awkward enough without having to explain jizz stains to your mom." His hips thrust up instinctively when you palm his already prominent erection through his pants. Good god, he prays that he doesn't nut too fast.
   "Very true but you know what I'd like? For you to stop waxing poetic about the past and fuck me right now." He can feel all air leave his lungs when you pull him into another kiss before unzipping his pants and pulling his erection free. "If you want to, that is."
   "Noona, I really want to fuck you. I want to, holy shit, hear you scream my name. I want to watch you cum on my cock...fuck...probably more than I want to do anything else in life." He struggles with his words when he sees your fingers wrap around his dick and slowly pump him. The way you maintain eye contact with a coy smile only has his insides boiling over. Shit, he figured you'd be the type to take the lead but it's a whole other world experiencing it than fantasizing about it. It's almost like you've put him in a trance. As if the outside world doesn't matter right now. Who cares that his dick's right out there for the world to see in front of a public lake at night, or that the two of you have barely just confessed your love and should technically be enjoying this picnic he's put together when you're looking at him like that? Certainly not him. No, all that matters right now is that he wants to feel you. Taste you. Hear your moans. And the feeling is clearly very mutual.
   When you finally detract your hand to take your bra and underwear off he's both relieved and more excited than before. Holy shit, this is really happening. He's only temporarily dissatisfied that you undress so quickly, his thoughts quickly shifting when you straddle his lap and guide his hands to your core. You're already dripping wet, and even the softest flick of his thumb on your clit has you sighing contentedly into his neck. It's a bit difficult at this angle, but he's determined to hear those sighs turn into moans. He works one finger into you slowly, slipping in a second after a moment. When you arch your back and grind down he moves his thumb in slow circles around your swollen clit before speeding up at the sound of your quiet command, "faster."
   It isn't long before sighs turn into mewls and then turn into moans that you muffle in the crook of his neck. "Like that, fuck, right there." He can feel his dick twitch at the lack of attention, but he doesn't care. All he wants right now is to see you climax, feel you cum on his fingers. When you do he feels you tighten, hears you cry out a loud "fuck" into his shoulder before biting down. It's magical. Fuck the leprechaun, this is the real pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He slows down when you go limp against him, breathing raggedly before smiling up at him with a dazed expression. Christ, he wants you. "Can I...can I fuck you now or...do you need a moment?"
   "I mean...I could give you some head if you want."
   "Yes, no, I mean. Yes, head sounds great, but no not right now. I'm about five minutes away from blowing my load, not going to lie."
   "I can work with that." You take a moment to adjust before gripping his dick in your hand. "Lay back, that'll make this easier."
   "Yes, ma'am." You roll your eyes when he salutes you, but you respond only by sinking onto him. You move so slowly he's afraid he'll die at this rate. It's as delicious as it is torturous, the way he feels you adjust and stretch around him as you slowly guide yourself further down his cock. He could die right now a happy man. He's had sex, but this. This is different. Better. It's fantastic, perfect, his own slice of heaven. And maybe that's why when you've taken all of him and moan softly before rolling his hips he blurts out, "I love you." Because he does. He loves you with every fiber of his being, and he doesn't want you to think that all he thinks about is sex. He sort of does, but that's not what this is about. This is more than that. this is more than sex even. It's not a random hookup, or a random girlfriend to pass the time with. No, this is you. And that makes everything different. Like he's floating on cloud nine. Like he's finally found the secret to life buried somewhere deep in your pussy.
   When you roll your hips again and position his hands over your breasts you pause to respond for a moment, "I love you too." It's simple, a matter of fact. And it brings emotions rolling into it. For a moment neither of you moves. The two of you just basking in the profundity in the realization that this means something more. That the two of you are finally more. Your lips come crashing down onto his, a hunger chasing at the two of you as his hips rut in tandem each time you roll.
   "Shit, shit, I'm not going to last long. I'm so sorry. I promise I'm normally not, fuck!" He stops functioning when your hands grip his balls.
   "It's okay, I already came earlier. Let go, Changkyun." It only takes you grinding down on him once, twice, three more times before he's spilling inside you. His orgasm hits him with a force he's not used to. A loud groan leaves him before he pants out your name, goosebumps rising up on his flesh as his hands move to quickly grip your hips closer to him.
   "Fuck, fuck. Holy fuck, Noona." He loves the way you laugh, squeezing around his rapidly softening dick before peppering kisses around his face. And even though he's limp and sliding out of you and smearing cum all over your thighs and his jeans neither of you care. The two of you just bask in soft stolen kisses, quiet declarations of love and adoration, and bouts of giggles. He isn't sure how long the two of you stay like that. It might have been just a few minutes or an hour. It's easy to lose track of time when he's with you. But when the two of you do finally break away to get dressed it's more because of the chill in the air than anything else. As you pack up your long forgotten salads he grabs your hand and pulls you into another kiss. He's always wanted to be able to do that. Just hold hands with you. Kiss you. Be by your side. In a way, somehow, that's even better than the fact that he finally got to sleep with you. But he's pretty sure that would sound lame so instead, he says, "Noona, I really love you. And I don't know where life is going to take us, but I do know I want it to be with you. I mean, I know that sounds dumb and serious considering that we technically only started dating, and I'm totally rushing into things but-"
   "Changkyun. It's okay. You don't sound dumb. I'm glad you're telling me all of this because I really love you too. And I'm really glad that I can finally say that. So please, stop thinking so damn much."
   "We both know that's never going to happen. We're both chronic overthinkers. But...I am really happy."
   "Good. We have a lot to talk about, and think about. But right now I'm freezing my ass off, so how about you spend the night with me and we can cuddle in my warm cozy bed and think about all the possibilities life has in store for us there?"
   "That sounds perfect. Hey, how soon do you think we should tell our parents?"
   "Oh my god, you complete and utter dork. Save it for the warm bed, please."
-------------------
   That night the two of you did, indeed, cuddle and wax philosophical for hours although that was sometime between showering and going for a round two. That day was the start of many moments with you. There were, of course, hiccups in it all, but it always ended up working out. He learns that love is constantly evolving and changing. The love that he held for you that night doesn't remain. It grows into something much more than any daydream could have ever seen for the two of you. Sometime's it's softer, especially on nights that the two of you lay in bed and just comfort each other after hard days. Sometimes it's a bit smug, like the time the two of you go home for Christmas and run into Shownu or the times you run into his previous flings. Sometimes it's a passionate frenzy. Sometime's it a bit haggard, especially on the nights that follow one particular passionate frenzy that results in your daughter who doesn't know how to sleep through the goddamn night until she's four. But the core concept that is love, the fact that the two of you want each other and want to face the world together? Well, that never changes. If anything, it grows stronger. Although, he still refused to admit even decades later that Minhyuk had a helping hand in sparking the moment that would start everything.

Monsta X MTL be into PDA
note: PDA = Public Display of Affection, requested by anon
most
Minhyuk
Wonho
Shownu
Changkyun
Hyungwon
Kihyun
least
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Minhyuk - he's very handsy and I mean VERY. he wants to be close to you, all the time, whether it's through holding your hand, combing through your hair, sitting on your lap, he just can't not touch you. he loves when you rest your hand on his thigh, eventho it always makes him horny, but it's a reassurance that you also like to be close to him and it's not just vice versa
Wonho - clings onto your arm and never lets go again. the type to rub his face against your shoulder, smiling. he enjoys the comfort of your body's warmth, being close to you just makes him feel safe and at home, that's why he loves to hug and cuddle (no matter where you are). he also likes when you're a little possessive of him and hold his hand in public to show everyone that he belongs to you
Shownu - usually doesn't initiate PDA but also doesn't mind it. he really couldn't care less if people stare at you two in public, but he'll only go as far as you're comfortable. if you like hugging in public he'll wrap is arm around you when you go for a walk, if you aren't into PDA he'll just save it for when you're at home
Changkyun - he loves to be close to you as well, but he always feels watched when he kisses you in public or holds your hand. that's why he usually just keeps his hands in his pockets and only pulls you in for a kiss when he is sure there's noone around. might try to tease you in semi public places (under the table in a restaurant) to get you to punish him tho
Hyungwon - holds your hand but nothing more. when you try to ruffle through his hair and peck him on his cheek he pulls away and whispers that you'll get caught. even at home I can't really see him initiating much body contact and he usually waits for you to throw yourself onto him
Kihyun - no, I just can't see him doing PDA. I actually do think he'd be pretty touchy in private and always on your tail when you're at home, but in public you might feel like strangers with how distant he suddenly gets. it's not that he doesn't love touching you, trust me he does, it's just a very private and personal thing to him that noone should be allowed to see and cherish but you
He had a soft smile as he said my name again.
“Stay away from me,” I tried to keep my tone level.
“What are you doing? Were you about to make lunch?” He sounded honestly curious as he looked around at the counters and tried to peer over my shoulder.
“Don’t patronize me. I know you’re the one who brought me here. If you come any closer to me, I’ll kill you.”
Changkyun looked at me the way someone would look at a helpless child. He took one step towards me, and I instinctively reached for the cup I had planted on the stove. I can throw this at him at least. But when I grabbed hold of it, the ceramic seared my hand and I screamed with everything I had. Dropping the cup shattered it, making me clench the knife in my other hand harder; my nails dug into my palms. Ceramic pieces littered the floor. With a worried look Changkyun took another step forward.
“Get away from me,” I said again, waving the knife around like I knew what to do with it. The next thing I knew, there was a polished gun just outside my reach.
“Drop the knife.”
I see now that I had quite literally brought a knife to a gun fight. Instantly, I dropped the knife, and felt the sinking weight of defeat on my chest. He kicked the knife away and approached me with a pitying expression.
“Let me see your hand,” Changkyun reached for my wrist, and we had an awkward push and pull when I attempted to fight him off. “Stop resisting,” he shouted, I froze. “I don’t want you stepping on any of the shards.”
At this point, I didn’t care about stepping on something, I just wanted to be as far away from this creep as possible.
“Go run your hand under some cold water and I’ll clean your mess up.” I wanted to make a run for the door, but I knew he’d intercept me. “If I’d known you were this accident prone, I never would have left you alone this long,” he commented, walking back in with a broom. Unsure of what to do, I stood quietly with my hand under the running water. “Stay put and I’ll be right back. I have some burn ointment.”
So, he worried about me, to some capacity at least. On his way back, he turned off the music that had been playing in the background. The house felt soulless without it.
“Do you like it? It’s just a hobby of mine.” I let him guide me to the couch where he dried off my hand and treated it. He rattled on, “To be honest I wasn’t sure if I wanted you to find it, but if you enjoy it that’s all that matters to me.” There was a long pause that hung heavy between us. Eventually, “Why won’t you answer me?” he looked at me with large, despondent eyes.
I avoided eye contact.
“I asked you a question.” His voice was stern again. He grabbed my face and forced me to look him in the eyes. “When I ask you a question, I expect you to answer me.”
“I hate you.”
“You can’t hate me-” he laughed “-you don’t even know me.”
Exactly, I thought.
“Now, I know everything about you. Which is why I was able to give you such a nice home. Anything you could ever need is right here. I waited until I could provide everything for you.”
Waited? “How long did you have to wait?” I asked hesitantly.
“Years.” My eyes grew wide. “You know we used to go to the same university. I don’t know if you recognize me, I worked at the rec there. Checking people in and stuff.”
Oh m—this man is more insane than I could have imagined.
“I was a couple years ahead of you. I remember when you were a freshman. You really don’t remember me?”
How do I know what to say to that, of course I don’t remember someone I might have seen years ago. “Uh, yeah actually I think I do!”
“Don’t lie to me.” Changkyun curtly shut me down, so he was a lie detector too huh? “But that doesn’t matter, that was a long time ago. What matters is that we’re together now! You don’t know how happy I am to finally have you here. What do you think of it?”
I couldn’t tell if this man was hostile or naive, but if I had to respond and he didn’t like me lying, “it’s a prison.”
He deflated. “You don’t mean that.” Collecting the ointment and the bandages, Changkyun stood up to set them on the kitchen counter.
“No, I do.” I got up too, “I hate it here. You’re a psycho and a freak and you kidnapped me! I want nothing to do with you! I hate everything to do with you!” My yelling echoed through the vacuous house.
“SHUT UP!” I had his gun pointed to me again. He had a furious grip and an aggrieved look, “Say you didn’t just say those mean things. Apologize to me now.”
“I would rather die.” Tears of pure rage streamed down my face. “Kill me now and get this over with,” I sniffed.
With a serious expression he fired his gun. Life began to play in slow motion.
I was really going to die.
Legal Affairs - Chapter 6
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Wonho makes a pleasant but starling discovery about the previous night. You have bills to pay.
Word count: 2.9k
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a less than desirable amount of sleep, you decided to get ready for the day. You packed your party dress away in a bag for dry cleaning to get rid of some cum stains. Then you printed several copies of the NDAs and filed them. Finally, you showered and got dressed, but kept it casual since it was just fieldwork today.
The doorbell buzzed at around 9:50. You knew it was Hoseok. He had the sweetest grin on his face and held a bag with food for you. You led him to the kitchen counter and told him to make himself comfortable.
“I got us seaweed soup, if you’re okay with that.”
“Sounds great, honestly. I didn’t get enough sleep and I just know I’ll end up with a headache later,” you said as you removed the soup containers from the bag. You sat at one of the stools at the kitchen counter, and Hoseok followed to sit beside you.
“If you wanted to sleep in, you could’ve told me.”
“No, remember the meeting? I can’t just cancel on you guys.” You slurped the soup. “Mmm so good, thank you.”
Hoseok watched you eat. “I can always take the NDAs for you. Then you can go back to bed.”
“No don’t, I have other things to do too today. I’m not even on sick leave.”
“And I told you last night that I can take care of the footage too,” he reminded you.
You dropped your spoon and looked at him. “Why are you so insistent about this?”
“About what?”
“Taking care of me.” You gestured at the soup. “Buying me food, helping me with work… you even took care of me when I was drunk, which I love by the way, but still…”
Hoseok smirked. “Do you like your soup?”
“Well, yes.”
“And are you going to stop me from helping you with your work?”
You played with your hands. “Hoseok, you are my work. Helping me just means you’re more forthcoming and cooperative than other clients.
“Right.” Hoseok said. “But say that last part again.”
“… than other clients?” You scoffed. “Are you surprised I have other clients?”
Hoseok shook his head. “No, you said you love being taken care of.” When you didn’t say anything and slurped your soup, he continued. “If you love it, especially when I took care of you while you were drunk, why not let me do it more?”
You stopped eating and cleared your throat. “You’re my client, Hoseok. There are certain ethical issues to consider.”
Hoseok was quiet. You eventually finished your soup, and scraped the bottom of the container. Seeing the, Hoseok slid the other container of soup towards you.
You smiled gently at him. “It’s okay, one was enough. Stay here and finish eating while I finish grabbing my things okay?”
Ethical considerations? He pondered that the whole time he ate. What ethical considerations could you possibly have after you slept together on his couch mere days after meeting for the first time? He watched as you flitted about the house, putting things in your bag. Your hair was up in a bun today, with a few strands escaping and falling down your face. You were wearing a very figure hugging pair of deep green satin pants with a simple cream coloured sweater. It had a playful cutout at the back that showed a few inches of your upper back. The bun was a good choice, he mused to himself.
The drive to Starship was quick and quiet, but Hoseok could tell you were stressing about something.
“What’s on your mind y/n?”
“Your schedule,” you said frowning at your phone. “I need you as a witness for Jia, but you said you have an event in the afternoon. Also, your manager said you should consider practicing your dance this morning.”
“I can move that if you want though,” he offered.
“Hoseok, no.” You said firmly. “I will just move Jia’s signing to tomorrow. Today, I will get the signatures from your members and the footage from the TV station, then go home.”
“I’ll take you home afterwards then,” Hoseok replied quietly, almost resignedly.
When you entered, the boys were all seated and waiting for you, while chatting with each other about whatnot to pass the time. They quieted down when you entered.
“Good morning guys, how are we all feeling today?” You asked as you took a seat at the head of the table and shuffled your papers around.
“Good.” Shownu answered politely.
“Man, my head hurts,” Minhyuk said, rubbing his face.
“I told you not to drink so much,” Kihyun scolded him.
“I’m sorry you couldn’t properly enjoy the party last night,” Hyungwon said.
“It’s okay, I am sorry for making everyone worried. But on the plus side, at least we have more evidence for the investigation,” you said.
You passed around the NDAs for the members as you made conversation. The boys dutifully signed their forms and passed it all back to you. Changkyun and Kihyun skimmed the sheet but the others didn’t bother.
“So what’s the plan next?” Jooheon asked. It was the first time you two had spoken. “Ah, I am Jooheon, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” he said the moment your gaze landed on him.
“Well first, I have some more footage to watch, then tomorrow I am meeting the prosecutor for lunch. But before all that, I need to find my car, get some dry cleaning done, and stuff.”
“Did you forget where you parked?” Minhyuk asked. “Coz if you did, we can’t help you, we forgot too.” He gestured between himself and Hyungwon.
You giggled at his comment. “No, I just got a ride home last night from Hoseok.”
“Just a ride?” Changkyun said in a low voice. Hyunwoo shot him a look.
You eyed Changkyun amusedly. “Let’s say I got both kinds.”
Kihyun’s jaw dropped open. Jooheon looked equally surprised. Hyungwon hid his face laughing.
“Ah, so you did enjoy yourself last night.” Changkyun smirked.
You felt your face heating up. “Mr Im, I am not on the witness stand, so don’t pry.”
Changkyun groaned. “Of course you pull out the lawyer jargon.”
After the laughing quieted, you gathered your things and began walking out of the meeting room. Hoseok got up and followed you, jogging to catch up with you.
“Hey wait,” he said panting, “I’ll drop you off at the TV station.”
You were about to refuse, until you remembered his reaction in the morning. How  dejected he looked when you implied you wanted to reject his offers to help you. “Actually, can we stop by the dry cleaners first?”
“Sure can,” Hoseok said, practically beaming.
Since you didn’t specify which dry cleaners, Hoseok took you to one he was familiar with. He followed you inside once he parked the car. You didn’t mind.
An old woman was waiting at the counter smiled when you two walked in. “Hi there sweetheart. What can I help you with today?”
You placed your bag with the dress on the counter. “There’s some stains that need removing.” You pulled out the dress and showed the stains, praying the woman wouldn’t say anything with Hoseok around.
To his credit, Hoseok hadn’t been paying much attention, until you pulled out the dress. He watched as you laid the dress down for the woman to inspect. There was something familiar about the dress. It had a deep burgundy dress with some sort of corset - no, bustier - with some sort of mesh - no, tulle - skirt. Hoseok’s mouth started to slowly fall open in realisation.
The old woman ran her hand along the fabric and asked, “Is the dress for tonight? Is he taking you out somewhere?” She nodded towards Hoseok.
You couldn’t see his reaction since he stood behind you, and simply continued conversing with the old woman. “No, I just wore it to a party last night.”
Hoseok’s eyes followed the woman’s fingers as she ran them along the bustier of the dress. He had some memory of doing the same thing last night, but with who? No, that couldn’t possibly have been… Hoseok swallowed as he tried to piece his thoughts together.
The old woman continued speaking. “Well I’m sure you looked gorgeous that night,” she said to you.
Yes, you really did look gorgeous last night, Hoseok wanted to say. Assuming you did wear that dress last night. He almost gasped out loud when his thoughts formed in full. Was it really you that night?
He didn’t remember the true colour of the dress under the lighting in the party, but he saw it was burgundy in the few seconds he was in the elevator. And you wore a jacket in the car, so he never saw your dress under natural lighting at night either. Plus you refused to remove your mask, but you knew about the security setup at the TV station. Why did he even think he hooked up with a rookie or trainee when even established idols were unfamiliar with the security system?
Hoseok waited while you made your payment and turned around to head back to the car. His eyes roamed over your face, searching for whether you were even aware of what happened the night before, but you weren’t. Finally, he allowed himself to fully acknowledge what had happened. It would seem that unknowingly, he had slept with his lawyer.
Hoseok dropped you off at a your car about 10 minutes later. He seemed even more withdrawn than the morning. You were starting to feel worried about him. He wasn’t curt or anything, but his demeanour was more aloof.
“Thank you for the ride, Hoseok. I’ll see you tomorrow afternoon then?”
“No worries, see you then.
“I hope you enjoy the event tonight,” you said tentatively.
“I hope you enjoy your night too,” he replied.
You laughed, somewhat forcefully, hoping it would put him at ease. “Ah yes, watching security footage alone in my room will make for a wonderful night.”
You were surprised when Hoseok bit his lip and replied shyly. “Well, if you’re bored, just call me.”
Once Hoseok left, you walked to the TV station. After an hour of waiting, security gave you four USBs with your required footage.
When you returned to your car, it was naturally still sitting where you left it the night before, but with roughly ₩300, 000 worth of parking fines. You tossed the fines onto the passenger seat and drove home.
As you drove, you mused about last night's events. You never really thought about what idol parties could be like, but they weren’t that different from a regular party, though the location was a bit surprising, especially given the need for privacy since the contents of the original party could be seen. You cringed at the thought that you may end up seeing yourself in the footage too, especially with your mysterious partner.
It surprised you how comfortable he had made you feel in the literal minute of conversation you two had. He seemed so familiar yet so different at the same time. Maybe you’d identify him with the footage, who knows?
Hoseok was a little disoriented during dance practice. He kept imagining you, lying on the floor, moaning, with his head between your thighs. To think he hadn’t even treated you all that well. Plus, you ran off without a single word the minute you two were interrupted. Though considering you did the same after your little ramen sleepover, maybe he shouldn’t be so surprised.
Hyunwoo sat down on the floor beside Hoseok when practice was over.
“Don’t tell me, I know I wasn’t very good today, hyung,” Hoseok groaned, not meeting Hyunwoo’s gaze.
“It’s okay, we’ve all got our bad days. Is it the event tonight that’s stressing you out?” Hyunwoo rubbed Hoseok’s shoulder comfortingly.
“No, it’s other things,” Hoseok replied.
“It’s y/n, right?” Hyunwoo said gently. Hoseok didn’t reply and quietly left.
The next morning, you made your way to one of Starship’s practice rooms to meet Hoseok. Changkyun let you in after you knocked. You looked around for Hoseok’s newly blonde hair, but didn’t see it. As if reading your mind, Changkyun said, “Hoseok hyung went to wash up before you came. Hyunwoo hyung is getting us some food, if you want to stay a bit.”
“That’s very kind of you, but I can’t intrude on your lunch. I’ll just sit and wait there if that’s okay?” You moved to one of the empty chairs in the practice room which happened to be next to Hyungwon. A few of the other members were walking around, sipping water or stretching.
While waiting for Hoseok, you remembered you had several payments to make. You pulled out your stash of parking fines and began making each payment on your phone. Once finished with the fine, you scrunched it up and dropped it towards your bag on the floor, though you didn’t check whether any of your scrunched fines made it inside.
Minhyuk, who was walking past you, picked one up and unscrunched it. “Miss y/n, how many parking fines do you have?” he asked incredulously.
“Like 5?” You said, not looking up from your phone.
“50, 000... 70, 000... 120, 000....” Minhyuk murmured while picking up some of the fines that didn’t make it into your bag. “There has to be at least ₩150, 000 here.”
“It’s double that actually, my bank account is screaming today,” you huffed bitterly.
“Hey, at least it's not from shopping like us,” Jooheon said, walking up to Minhyuk and slinging an arm around him. “Did you know Hyungwon bought a Rolex the second he had enough money to?”
Hyungwon looked up from his phone, faux anger clouding his beautiful features. “Hey listen...” He began but Jooheon and Minhyuk were already laughing.
Once Minhyuk and Jooheon had stopped laughing, Minhyuk said, "You should text Hoseok these fines.” His voice was serious, but his face had a wide grin. You couldn’t tell if he meant it or not.
You finished the last of the fines, then pulled out another piece of paper. “Those fines are nothing compared to the cost of the investigation.”
Jooheon peered over at the paper and his eyes widened in shock. It was the receipt for Hoseok’s drug test which cost ₩2.7 million. Seeing his reaction, you reassured him and the other members around you with “Don’t worry, I’ll get reimbursed when your company pays my fees to the law firm.”
“But until then, do you just suffer?” Minhyuk asked. He shook his head in disbelief. “₩3 million is crazy.”
“At that point, you should be charging Kihyun, not Hoseok,” Jooheon said.
At the sound of his name, Kihyun’s head jerked up to notice the little group around you, and he walked over to join. He looked at the paper in your hand and was equally shocked. “H-how even... just... man Hoseok better be treating you to dinner or something for that."
“More like 10 dinners and a luxury vacation,” Hyungwon corrected. He had decided the conversation about your financial position was far more interesting than whatever was on his phone, and was listening intently now.
Changkyun also came to join the conversation. “Lawyers are expensive. Maybe we picked the wrong career path.”
You laughed at the lot of them. “Relax guys, I will get reimbursed. Plus Hoseok got me dinner once already.”
“No, that wasn’t dinner,” Kihyun said, waving his hand dismissively. “He should know better than to feed you cup noodles and give you so much beer you don’t make it home.”
You knew it was all in good fun, but Kihyun’s comment made your face heat up. How much did he know about that night?
“Mr Yoo, are you accusing my client of something?” You asked pointedly. Did Hoseok tell his members that you stayed the night?
Kihyun smirked and played along. “Miss y/n, I think the real question is why Hoseok told us to not enter the dorm the whole night and why my stack of beer was missing.”
So they all probably knew. They all knew how you slept (and only slept) with your client. As you dwelled on your embarrassment, the door to the practice room swung open and closed a little too hard to be an accident. Hoseok walked in, wearing a black tank top and sweatpants. He walked up to you and Kihyun, carrying two iced coffees, one of which he handed one to you.
“Kihyun, I’ll buy you some beer later,” he said after a sip of his own coffee.
Balancing the coffee in one hand, you stood up and shouldered your bag with a grunt.“Ready to go, Hoseok?”
The grunt didn’t go unnoticed by Hoseok.“Do you want me to…” Hoseok asked as he reached out to grab your bag off your shoulder.
You didn’t read his actions properly and frowned at him. “Are you trying to put your arm around my shoulders?” Ohh shit, unprofessional!!! You smacked a hand over your mouth like you were trying to push the words back in.
Hoseok laughed. Your reaction was a little cute. “I mean, I could if you want me to, but I was just going to take your bag.” Hoseok smiled shyly at the floor. Both of your faces were now showing a slight flush.
Kihyun watched this exchange with interest and amusement. “I can see why he told us to stay out of the dorm now.” He looked between you and Hoseok and walked away.
Im Changkyun/Reader [F]
Genre: Fluff, Smoking, Drop Out Changkyun + A Cool Motorcycle
Words: 2.8k
Tumblr media
You were laying in bed, feet kicked up on a stack of three pillows as you had a comic book hoving over your face, reading only to have the same difficult struggle in turning the page when you finished.  Gravity doesn’t easily allow paperback comic books to be easily turned when it’s above your face.
You were in the middle of reading a comic your best friend, Changkyun, had lent you about a week ago.  Every time he sees or calls or texts you, he’s wanting to know if you’ve read it.  Apparently, it's the best thing to be put on paper since the first newspaper clipping back in 1690.  You had to admit though, it was pretty good.
You were probably about halfway through it when your phone buzzed next to your head.
Kyunbabe: I’ve been thinking about going on a ride tonight.  You coming?
You smiled at that.  Changkyun had long since abandoned anything prioritizing to a lot of the normal society tasks and activities pushed on him.  When he was in school - he had already dropped out, deciding he was smart enough as it is - he wasn’t involved in much.  No clubs, no sports, no after school activities of any kind.  The only reason he would stick around after school had ended was to wait for you.  Student council kept you busy, but he’d always wait until every meeting or task assigned to you was finished.
Changkyun made it an unwritten rule that you two were to leave school together no matter what.  So, even if he got stuck with detention and didn’t sneak out, you’d be forced to soundly wait in the classroom or library with your nose in a book until his time was up.
You two have known each other since you were children.  A bit of a tomboy you were.  You met him at a park that was old and hidden behind a ray of trees, completely in the shadow of the newer, more ‘fun’ park.  You were 7 when you got lost and ran into the 8-year-old, ashy brown haired boy who was half buried in the sandpit.
The friendship began when you agreed to bury him completely - except his face - just so he could pop up and act like a zombie or Frankenstein's monster rebirthed.  It was one of the best afternoon’s spent lost playing you could remember.
Now, he still stood beside you as your best friend.  A bleached blond head of hair with piecings up his ears and an eyebrow bar to boot.  Only select fingers of his were painted black; the ones which weren’t, where the ones on your hands that were painted in his stead.  Truth be told, he spent more time at your home than he did his own.
Time spent at his house always resulted in a conflict of interest and fights between his folks.  Part of you was always curious about how his parents show their disappointment with their son’s decision.  If they were so angry, why hadn’t they kicked him out?  He was old enough, just turning 19.  He could be on his own if he wished to by now.  Of course, it would probably be you telling him to stay with you and your parents until he had a game plan figured out.
When you offered it to him, he’d always refuse it.
You bounded out of bed, putting the comic on your bed, marking your page before you zoomed down the stairs.  Just around the railing of the staircase, you leaned over it to see your mom sitting on the couch watching her rerun shows rather bored.  Your father was still working, but he’d be home soon.
“Mom, Kyun wants to go on a ride with me.  Can I go tonight?”  Your parents were studious folks, yet they still loved Changkyun like a son.  They accepted his decision to drop out of school and offered to support him and his future decisions the best they could.  When they told him so, that was probably the first time you saw him get misty eyed.
Normally, you weren’t allowed on evening to nightly rides.  However, it was Saturday and with no plans tomorrow, your mother smiled.
“Of course.  Only if you invite him over.  It’s been a hot minute since he’s been around.  Your father and I miss our dear little non-birth son.”  You rolled your eyes but smiled warmly at her nonetheless.  “Oh!  If he refuses, bride him with food.  We just re-stocked on some prime meats he may want to sink his teeth into.”  You cringed at the sentence but nodded all the same.
“Will do, mom.  Will do.”  You skipped back upstairs, nearly slipping in the process, as you went back into your room.  You grabbed your phone and sent a text back.
You: Hell yeah.  I got the greenlight, so let’s go.  What time?
Kyunbabe:  ‘Greenlight’ was such a lame pun for a motorcycle ride Y/n.
You: Quit being a bitch and tell me.
Kyunbabe: Oof, she bites.
Kyunbabe: 6
You abandoned your phone as you moved to your closet.  Slipping on jeans and changing out of your comfy shorts and tank top. A sweater replaced your top and a leather jacket that was gifted to you by Changkyun himself.  It was one of his from a few years back, but he outgrew it so you immediately called dibs on it before he tossed it.
Slipping on your worn out ankle boots you grabbed a small drawstring back and packed it with a few items.  The comic you were reading, a small Bluetooth speaker, your charger for your phone, and a water bottle with a half-empty box of Skittles.  Flipping off your light, grabbing your phone and slipping it into your back pocket, you left your room to wait in the living room with your mom.  It was 5 after all.
Kyunbabe:  I’m outside.
It was 5: 47 when he texted you.  You rolled your eyes.
You: Come inside.  Mom wants to say hi.
It was a moment later you heard the front door open and from around the small entryway hall rounded the teenage.  Clad in leather over leather and an unlit cigarette between his lips.  He pulled it and placed it back into its box, knowing that smoking inside was a no-no.
His leather pants hugged his thighs and a belt wrapped them, making them even edgier.  His shirt was black underneath his jacket, the new leather one he recently got.  The ends of his undershirt lace and see-through adding more beauty on him than he already had.  His blonde hair was bright and face glistened with the slightest sheen of natural oils.
“All you do is wear black and bleach your hair and you look good.  I’m insulted,” you whined as you slouched back against the couch.  It was routine, insulting him for insulting you with his looks that look so effortless.  He chuckled as he shrugged, ego successfully inflated.
“Maybe it’s because I don’t sit on the couch all day when I’m not holed up in books,” he chided as you rolled your eyes. “What a bookworm,” he tacked on.  He looked to your mom as he put two fingers to his brow and flicked them.  “How's it going, ma’am?” He’s known your mom for years, but he still insists on calling her ma’am. The same for your father, he only calls him sir.  One can’t say he doesn’t have manners at least.
Your mother smiled.  “I’m well.  You’ll ride safely I presume?”
“Always,” he chuckled confidently. “It won’t be a long ride.  Just out to the countryside for a while.  Some nice, clean air would do the soul some good.”  Your mother nodded, absolutely agreeing.
You stood up off the couch, your mother following your steps as you walked to both of you to the front door.  Changkyun opened it, letting you step outside first- ever the gentleman- as well as letting your mother step out onto the porch to see you two ride off.  After stealing a hug from both you and Changkyun, you ran to his bike.
A maroon Harley Road King sat parked against the curb.  You ran to it, as you turned and leaned against it, watching Changkyun take his time and walk towards you and his bike.  Lighting that cigarette he didn’t have a chance to do before.  You rolled your eyes.
“Lighting one for the road?”  You teased as he flicked open his Zippo lighter and struck.  Puffing as the cigarette took the light, he flicked his lighter closed and pocketed it.  Taking a breath, he leaned towards you and blew the smoke into your face.  Waving your hand around and coughing at him as he laughed.  “Second-hand smoke is not cool man!”
He laughed as he moved to lounge against his bike seat.  One foot propped up on the rest as he leaned next to you, as you two talked.  No matter how many times you saw each other, you always had things to talk about.  Your mother watched with a smile as you laughed at whatever he said and he smiled back.  It was a single moment of bliss for the troubling age of teenage youth, so she turned her back and went inside.
Soon, he finished his cigarette and climbed onto his bike.  You followed after him, seated behind him like you so used to.  Wrapping your arms around his middle and interlocking your hands as you leaned on his chest.
“Is this alright?!”  You yelled over the loud revving of the bike as he kicked it into the ignition.  He looked over his shoulder, your nose pushing into his cheek.
“Always sweetheart!” He teased back as he looked back forward, kicked up his stand and was soon pulling off the curb, down the road and cruising down the highway into the countryside, a paceful 80 mph down the roads.
You and he must’ve been riding for hours, as by the time he decided to stop and pull off into a pasture the last minutes of the day were being snuffed out by the blanket of night.  The sun gone from sight and the moon on the rise.
Getting off his bike with you before him, he plopped himself down in the grass beside his bike, leaning his back against it.  Taking a deep breath, he let it out and closed his eyes.  Relaxing for a moment.  You stood and took your bag off and sat next to him, too far as he deemed.  He cracked open an eye and saw you digging around, pulling out your speaker as he reached and grabbed your arm, yanking you over towards him.
You squaked as you just shook your head and scoot over closer to him.  You turned your speaker on as Changkyun took your phone and began scrolling through your music.  He smiled as he saw a lot of his own stuff on there.  He would produce tracks and random little blurbs for fun when he was ultimately stuck at home.  It was flattering to know you liked them, or even if you didn’t he was happy you at least put them on your phone in a little playlist all for him.
“Play one of yours,” you chided as you crossed your ankles and pushed against his arm to tap your finger on the screen of your phone that he still head in his palm.  He watched the crown of your head as you focused on the screen.  It wasn’t fair to him how with each new time he saw you, you somehow got more beautiful than the last.
He just turned his head away and let you scroll as he grabbed his pack of cigarettes and once again lit one.  He wouldn’t smoke it all, only half.  He didn’t get paid until next week from his part-time job and he only had a pack left.  He had to be fruitful of his smoking for the next week.  Smoking helped take his mind off the thoughts he most definitely shouldn’t be having about his best friend.
For a while, you both just sat and talked like you always did.  Changkyun had gotten into another skirmish with his parents about going back to school, resulting in his run-off last minute ride.  He didn’t like fighting with his folks, and no matter what he tried to love them as they did raise him. He only wished they would stop treating him like his life was over just because he didn’t dress up in a gown and get a stupid piece of paper in an overly long ceremony.
“Oh, that’s right.”  You turned to Changkyun, seeing him already looking at you as he finished off the second half of a cigarette.  “Mom said she wants you to stay over tonight.”  He smiled as he shook his head.
“Of course she does.  That woman is too good.”  You laughed, agreeing with him.  “Send the word I’ll crash over.  I don’t feel up to going home tonight anyway.”  You nodded.
“That’s understandable.”  You pulled your phone out to text your mom when you asked Changkyun a question.  “Have you thought about moving out?”  He sighed.
“I don’t make enough money to even start to support myself, Y/n.  Unless my parent’s kick my ass out, I’m stuck there for now.”
“You could live with us you know.”
“Y/n,” he breathed.  You’ve had this talk before. Time and time again you have offered your home to become his as well.  And time and time again he’s refused, but he doesn’t give a reason as to why he won’t.  Your mom and dad already see him as family and you have a spare room that you all keep for him when he comes over.  He has clothes, bags, shoes, even a spare laptop in there already!
“Come on.  Why not?”  You whined as you looked at him.  He looked down at you, your eyes wide and brows down.  Concern etched into your face.  In all honesty, he wanted so badly to take you and your parent’s up on the offer.  Moving would be easy, simple and even hardly problematic.  He could, he wanted to so bad.
“You know why,” he remained vague.  You shook your head.
“No, I don’t.  Explain it to me.”  You were awfully pushy tonight.
“I just can’t.”
“That’s not an answer and you know it.” Your eyes were piercing, solid and unwavering.  You were determined to pry an answer out of him.  Maybe it was time you actually got it out of him.  He huffed as he grabbed one of your wrists and twisted you, pulling your arm above his shoulder.  He turned to you, now chest to chest and very close.
“You want an answer?”  You blinked, before nodded.  “Fine,” he dropped your wrist before he took both of his hands and grabbed the sides of your face, jaw and cheek in his palms before he pulled you towards him and pushed towards you. He tasted like smoke and Cola.
His lips were unforgiving on your own.  Pushing against you with fervor and so much passion you felt light headed.  Your hands moved to his neck, pulling at the small hairs on his nape as he kept pushing against you.  Moving his lips against yours, pulling on your lip with his teeth and prying your mouth open.  The taste of his tongue was something you didn’t expect to be so sweet with how much he smokes. Perhaps he’s cut down like you’ve asked him to before.
You felt his hands slide into your hair, tugging at the strands as he pulled his lips away from you after sufficiently making yours kiss swollen and red.  He pushed his lowered his forehead to your as his nose touched against your own and he breathed harshly.  Your breath was just as uneven and jagged.
“Was that answer enough?”  He breathed as you shook your head.  “No?”  He was more than willing to answer again if you still didn’t get it.
“Changkyun,” your breathing was so small.  It was attractive knowing he was the one to make it so.  “If that’s the reason, then you have to move in now.” He quirked a brow.
“Oh, and what's the reasoning behind that conclusion?”
“You want an answer?” Teasing him with a laugh, spitting his words back into his face.  He pretended to think, looking up into the clear, country sky covered in midnight and speckled with stars and their designs.
“Hm, that’s a tough one, doll,” you just rolled your eyes and kissed him again.
When you two rode home that night, it was nearly 9.  Your father was home, your mother had just pulled the leftovers out of the fridge to reheat for you two, as you were both whining and hungry.  Along with you two eating at the table, your parents sat with you, cups of wine and coffee as you four spoke.
Spoke about Changkyun and you as you both tangled your hands together on the wooden dining table and discussed the future. Or at least the next couple of days because Changkyun was officially scheduled to move in.  No questions asked.
Bicker With Me
Summary: It’s fun and games teasing, bickering, push and pull until someone tugs too hard, and the other lands in the mud.
Changkyun X Female! Reader
This was requested by @astarlightmonbebe btw
Prompt: 5. “All I want for Christmas is for you to leave me alone.“
They say your brother’s friends are likely to become your friends and treat you like their sister. My brother has six friends, and five out of the six treat me like their little sister, always looking out for me, making sure I look good for my first date, threatening to beat the kid up if he pulls anything. Changkyun, my brother’s other friend is the absolute worst, he’s been my enemy since he became Kihyun’s friend. Why? That’s simple, he’s in my grade, and I’ve known him and he’s the one who put gum in my hair, my mother was not pleased after that little stunt. Granted, he’s funny, but he’s also the one who ruined my first relationship, although it only lasted one day… But it was because he shouted, “GIRLS HAVE COOTIES, YOUNGBIN DON’T KISS HER YOU’LL CATCH COOTIES!” Maybe, it’s stupid to hold that grudge for something that small, but it’s a lot more than just that. He got into teasing me, pulling my hair when he would sit behind me in choir. No matter how much I told him to stop, the next day he’d be at it again. Until, I spoke up to the teacher, she thankfully moved me away from the brat. He would tease the daylights out of me.
What does he do now? Tease the daylights out of me! He’s such a brat, nit-picking, no good, rotten egg. I don’t understand why Kihyun hangs around with him, yeah fits the bill for being good looking and funny like the rest of them. They had such great chemistry together, but for some reason we just don’t click. Nowadays we just bicker back and forth, to the point here were Kihyun stopped having the group met over at the house because of our constant bickering.
There always days like today where it’s an exception, where Kihyun brings over the group, and I was supposed to go to be shopping at the mall all day. But Bambam and I cleared all the shops went to bakery and he got call from his mom to go get groceries once he was done shopping with me. I was going to go grocery shopping with him, but I didn't want to intrude into that privacy, and I told him to take me home. Little did I know the boys were over.
If Changkyun wasn't such a brat when we younger and even now. I would have totally dated him, at least once. He's good looking, easy to get along with--I’ve been told at least--funny, and all around charming guy with a witty tongue. I would have fallen for that just because of the description. But with all he's pulled, I'd rather hit his face with my fist than my lips.
I open the door to find seven guys chattering and being loud, doomsday… Maybe I should have gone with Bambam to grocery shop. I kick off my shoes, coat, hat, scarf and mittens, sling my bags back up my arm and go into my room. Texting Bambam and telling him what's happening. He laughs in a recording, that sick son of gun wants to see me suffer. Whatever major loser I shoot back. That's how I thought my night was going to go texting him away and then going to sleep, was plan at least and then to show my brother my new outfits. So he can pick and choose what should go with what, there are three main people I rely on for clothing opinions other than myself, Kihyun, Bambam, and Hyungwon that kid always looks like a fashion model more so than not; even when he’s in sweatpants.
We three even have a group chat called pretty boos even though Hyungwon and Kihyun will go back and forth at it just like Changkyun and I will. But then again, Kihyun liked Hyungwon enough to keep him around unlike Changkyun and I.
[Double B: Hey you know what I was thinking maybe C liked you over the years and teasing was his way of showing it]
[To Double B: BB I love how you're so soft sometimes but this isn't the right time for that-]
[Double B: Just admit if you had the chance you'd date him]
[To Double B: I'd date my reflection before I'd date that]
“Ohh~ Who you talking about” and I look over and it's Changkyun, “Get out of my room, ever heard of privacy peeping Tom”
[Double B: Admit it if you had the chance you'd date Changkyun!]
Why did he type out Changkyun, he never does that we have a rule… unless the trio is plotting against me… I always knew a day would come to this, “So what you going to say? That you'd date me if you had the chance, sweetheart I'd give it a whirl”
[Double B: Long pause? Is someone considering it, or ignoring me? Man if I was in your position and with that much tension I'd cut it with my lips]
[To Double B: Real cute, you know I'd never date him]
“Aw really?” Changkyun asks pouting at me, “Didn't I tell you to get out of my room?” He smirks at me, “Don't worry I'll ask Kihyun to wrap me up for you for Christmas, since I'm what you want” that's when I snap, I'm so sick and tired of this little game we keep playing back and forth, it's gotten old, “All I want for Christmas is for you to leave me alone” I say loudly, and with more ferocity than I've ever felt inside me. For the first time, Changkyun is speechless, quiet, and nods, looking at me like a kicked puppy and slowly goes out shutting the door silently behind him.
Know I've felt bad for stuff in the past but this is a whole nother feeling. It feels even worse, I guess I'll admit to myself now, I may have caught feelings for him. Because even if he did pick on me, when I would come home from a breakup or a bad night in general and he was over, he'd be the first one in my bedroom comforting me and just letting me cry it out, giving me soft encouraging words. That's the part I fell in love with, the other teasing, bickering side I could do without. When he walked out like that all I could feel was like his true spirit leaving the room and feel like it died. Or maybe it was my spirit? Because I, finally, crossed the line. I got what I wanted…
Not what I needed, I didn't even know what to follow up with. The first thing that came to my mind was and apology, I think we both deserve. It's gone on to long, and we've hit the limit. I look under my bed for a second, remembering about my chocolate stash, something Changkyun help me make, for whenever you feel mad or sad, have a bad and I'm not here. If only he were like that all the time, if only I were like that all the time with him.
I rush downstairs, I look around and see he isn't around, “Where's Changkyun?” Kihyun looks at me weird for a second but tells me, “He left, he should be home by now” He lives down the block, cross the street, right there on the corner house. I shoved all my winter gear on and rush out there. Thankfully, all of my neighbors salt and shovel snow--mostly, so they don't get sued--I sprint to Changkyun's house, making it in record time, without getting hit.
I rap on the door and a what sounds to be a frustrated groan, followed by an ‘I'm coming give me a minute’ to my surprise its Changkyun who opens the door, I see him look at me in surprise which turns sour, fast, “I thought if you wanted me to leave you alone, I thought that you and I won't mix-” I don't let him finish his sentence, “I'm sorry, dammit. I've never been more sorry, can we just talk and eat some chocolate?” He raises a brow heaving a sigh before he moves to let me in the house. He shuts the door, locks it sits on the couches with me, a cushion over from me.
“What do you want to talk about so bad?” “I think I like you, and I've been too stupid to realize it, because I thought you teased me because and that's where it all started-” “No, no, I could never hate you. Rather it's the opposite I'd pick on you and make other guys leave you alone when we were younger cause I wanted you all to myself. I realized that was selfish for me to do. When you came home from dates, bawling your eyes put I held you as much as I wanted to go out there and pummel the person that would hurt your precious feelings.” I place the chocolate between us, “I’m sorry for telling you to leave me, you tease me all the time and bicker with me so it made me believe that you hated me, never wanted to talk to me only tease. When you came in and Bambam was messaging me, and I was wrong when I said I’d never date you. I just wanted to cover up the truth that Bambam was trying to expose, it’s like the three of them ganged up on me. Hyungwon and Kihyun telling Bambam to text me about you, so you would come in my room-” His eyes widen in shock, “I thought they wanted me to check up on you, because you came back earlier. They thought you were having a bad day, and I’m pretty good at calming you down-” My jaw drops in shock, “Those conniving bastards, even my own brother.” He opens up a Hershey bar and breaks in half, “This has been an adventurous day”
For a while we’re just quiet, maybe I never realized how much I liked him, because I wanted to force myself to hate him, so I covered it up with anger, and my heart ached for him. Maybe that was a weird way to put it, but I masked my love for Changkyun because I thought that was the only way to go about it; after all, I thought he hated me. “What do we do now?” He asks me softly, breaking up the Hershey into pips. I shrug my shoulders, I eat a pip of the bar, “How about we start over?” He nods, putting his candy bar down and holds out his hand, “I’m Lim Changkyun and you are?” I smile putting my chocolate bar down as well, “I’m (L/n) (Y/n), it’s a pleasure to meet you.” I introduce myself while shaking his hand. “What’s your favorite color?” He asks me, turning to me, “(F/c), yours?” “White” and from then we just kept talking, for hours, moving from the living room to the outdoors, and just laying on the grass looking at the stars and talking about whatever crosses our minds.
I get a call from Kihyun, and I ask Changkyun to give me a second and it’s just Kihyun telling me to be home at a decent time, I laugh at him, so did you try to set us up? I asked him, and he agreed I shook my head, told him bye and hung up leaving my phone in the living room, and see the clock saying 11:47 PM, “What did Kihyun have to say?” I raise my eyebrows, “I just know that’s his ringtone” “Oh, right, he just told me to be home at a decent time” He nods and pats the ground, “Would you want to stay over for the night, 7:00 AM is a decent time to be over” I laugh, “I don’t think that’s what he meant” I mused laying on the ground, “I know” “By the way where’s your mom?” “On a business trip with dad, my little brother is at his friends house” He tells me, gazing at the stars and pointing at a constellation, “Canis Major” he utters out to me, I nod, “I got to go before my brother has a conniption fit.” He nods, “Yeah,...” We get up and solemnly walk to the door, not wanting to bid each other goodbye, I grab my phone when I turn around to him, “Promise me something” He raises a brow, “That tomorrow, we don’t go back to being bickering children” He gives me a small smile, “I promise, maybe tomorrow you want to go out and see where it leads?” He asks tilting his head cutely, I agree to it with a smile playing on my lips my whole way home.
The whole evening playing in my head like a film reel, only stopping when I open the door to see Kihyun sitting in the kitchen and asks me to tell him everything, I roll my eyes make my way over there and tell him everything, “I knew you secretly liked him!” “Whatever, thanks I know you guys just ganged up on us, nonetheless thank you.” He smiles, “Just treat him right, he’ll treat you right or-” “Yeah, yeah, I get it, thanks for the overprotective brother coming out” I groan and go up to my room, who knew that me blowing up would lead to us starting over, the start we both needed.
"Have you ever thought about...not being nice?"
Changkyun looks amused but not surprised at your question. He just pauses above you, one hand still in the band of your bra.
"To you?" he clarifies.
"Yeah."
"I like you," Changkyun says. "I like being nice to you."
But there's a knowing look in his eyes that tells you he's just being difficult. He understands that you're trying to ask for something and wimping out. He's such a pain. Why can't he just read your mind and do what you want?
That's not how it works, of course, so you try again. "What if I want you to try being mean instead?"
"Like how?"
He's going to make you say it all outright, isn't he?"
"Like...call me names?"
Changkyun nods thoughtfully. "You know that stuff like that can feel bad if it comes out of nowhere. You have to know what you're getting into."
"I know. I just wanna try. If that's okay."
"That's okay," he assures you.
"I'll tell you if I don't like something."
"I know you will."
"I'll safeword," you promise.
He has one for adventures that get a little more risky, and you do, too, though you've rarely had to use it since the two of you tend to err on the side of caution. But you really think you'd like this. You'd wanted to bring it up in a more articulate way, maybe not in the midst of things like this, but you couldn't help yourself.
"What kinds of things?" Changkyun asks. "Just name-calling, or other stuff?"
"I think I just want to be...talked down to."
"Like what?" he presses.
You flail for a second. "I don't..."
"Do you want to be called my slut?" he grins.
It's a gentle ease into it, a generic bit of degrading talk compared to some of the stuff you've seen online, looked up when you were exploring last, but even that simple question sends butterflies alight in your stomach.
"Maybe not all the time," you reply, feeling somehow completely at ease now that you know he understands. "But for now..."
"For now, you want to be treated like a little slut?"
"Yes. I can - you can - more," you say.
Changkyun hums, mock understanding. "Oh, you want to feel like a bad girl, huh? You wanna feel dirty, baby?"
"Yes."
"I need more than that," he coaxes.
"Yes, I want to feel dirty," you breathe.
The words are unfamiliar and the tone is mean - despite his severe appearance, your Changkyun is a sweetheart and a doting partner in the bedroom - but the affection behind them hasn't left. Far from your concern that it would feel like he doesn't care, you rather feel like he cares enough to try out something new. It's strange, but not in a bad way.
"Knew you'd break eventually," he says.
When he took your bra off, you're not quite sure, but it's gone, and Changkyun is moving his way down your chest to your panties.
"Knew you'd get tired of being a good girl all the time."
He noses his way along your inner thigh, toward the gusset of your panties that sticks, damp with arousal, to your clammy skin.
"Figured at some point, you'd need more," Changkyun murmurs. "Knew you'd need me to break you."
He's barely doing anything, and it's killing you. "I-"
"Isn't that right, baby?"
"Kyun, I need-"
"It doesn't matter what you need," he smiles meanly. "All that matters 's what you're gonna get."
He peels your panties down, and you lift yourself so he can get them out from under.
"And what you're gonna get..."
He pulls them around your feet and off, leaving you naked under him.
"Is whatever I wanna give you. That's how it works, see, for sluts."
Despite his words, the energy he's creating in the room for you, his hands are unbelievably gentle, as he spreads your legs farther for himself and slinks over you.
"'m not a slut," you manage.
"No?" he hums. "You haven't always been one, huh? Haven't always been desperate for it?"
You want to protest more, but the solid feeling of his cock laving through your folds has you gasping and grinding yourself up into him as best you can, and that kind of defeats any argument you could make all at once.
"I think you have. I think you're always sitting there, wanting to be used."
His deep voice is sexy regardless, but he's letting some other kind of bass sink into it, almost a growl, and it's making your head spin.
"Because that's what dumb sluts do. Sit around and wait for cock. S'all you're good for."
He doesn't mean it, you know he doesn't, and that's what makes it so delicious.
"I don't just...wait for..."
"Can't even string a sentence together," he patronizes.
"I can-"
"Can you?" He reaches down, pinching the skin on your hip just to make you yelp on the way to line himself up. "Can you, now?"
"Kyun, please, I want-"
"'Course you do. But you gotta ask nicely."
You whine. "Please-"
"That's not how sluts ask."
He's not going to make this easy, is he?
Changkyun puts on a whiny approximation of your voice. "'Please, Kyun, fill me up with your huuuuuge cock!'"
"Don't exaggerate," you say, amused even through your arousal.
He drops down onto his elbows over you, face directly above yours, caging you in so that you can't see anything but him. Just Changkyun's dark eyes, his sharp nose and bow lips, just his beautiful face and the feeling of him all lined up and ready to go at your entrance but not moving an inch.
"You wanted to be treated like a brainless little cocksleeve," he reminds you, "Which means you're gonna beg for cock like one."
"Don't you wanna fuck me?" you pout.
"Sure I do. But I'm patient. I can wait. You, on the other hand...well. I can feel how bad you need me."
He's not wrong - you're clenching around nothing, wetter than you thought possible just from spoken words, and you're certain that he can feel it against the head of his cock.
"Ask nicely," he intones.
"Please."
"Do better than that. Dumb little slut, can't even do that much?"
The first sentence that comes to mind tumbles right out of your mouth. "Kyun, please just...do whatever, use me-"
"That's better," he smirks. "Better, but not enough."
He nudges forward just the tiniest bit, so that the tip of his cock slips past your entrance, a tease of what you could be getting if only your brain would work properly...
"I can't-"
"I know you can't," he soothes. "I should know better than that, pushing my dumb toy to make decisions."
You realize very fully in this instant exactly why this kind of thing is so addicting.
"As if you can string two words together when you're so desperate for cock. You want me now, baby?" Changkyun asks.
"Yes."
He tsks, but he eases himself inside so slowly that it makes you wriggle beneath him, bucking your hips upward to make him go faster. It would work better if he wasn't a lot stronger than you, if he didn't grab your hip with one hand and stop you.
"That wasn't very hard," he tells you. "It was absolutely nothing compared to how much you're gonna have to beg to come."
My muscles wouldn’t move, so tense I didn’t even have control over my own body. Then I heard the sound of the bullet hitting the TV behind me, absolutely shattering the expensive screen.
I can’t breathe. Instantaneously, I started hyperventilating, collapsing on the floor. I can’t breathe. I almost got shot, survived, and instead, am going to die from shock. There were hands on my shoulders, Changkyun had rushed to hold me as sobs racked through me. My skin was pricked and crawled; his hands on me felt like a cage. I couldn’t speak so I tried my best to wiggle away from him, brushing at his hands; I lacked strength to really push them off.
“It’s gonna be okay. Everything is going to be okay.” At first, I thought it was me speaking, but it was his voice, cutting through the ringing in my ears. He repeated that like a mantra, my mantra, I would say to myself. “You’re gonna be okay.” Why does he know I say that?
I forced large breaths of air in and out, trying to focus on anything that wasn’t Changkyun. His hands were suffocating me, his whole presence crowding me. Eventually, I regained some degree of composure. “Get away,” I huffed.
“You did this.” Changkyun was defensive
“Me? No, I didn’t!”
“If you had just listened to me, apologized, and taken back what you said, this wouldn't have happened. You forced my hand.” He sounded empathetic, but the message was ludicrous. “I would never hurt you,” he motioned to my hand. “I’m protecting you.”
If he was honestly trying to brainwash me, it wasn’t working. Protect? Never hurt me? I chanced a glance at his gun. If I wasn’t so afraid of him, I would laugh in his face.
“If I put this away, will it make you feel better?” He reached for the handgun placed haphazardly on the coffee table. Nervously, I nodded. “But, you promise not to lie to me anymore.” he raised an eyebrow. I nodded again. “Answer me.”
“I won’t.”
He walked the gun to the kitchen counter. “Now,” Changkyun turned around to me with a large smile. “Let's catch up like we should have in the first place.”
He got comfortable on the couch and stared at me–still on the floor. As if nothing had happened, he cheerfully patted the spot on the sofa next to him. Too afraid to defy him again, I wearily crawled my way onto the sofa.
“What have you been up to since you got here?” He asked as I got situated, sitting on my feet, I hugged and pillow. Why does he look so happy?
“Just learning my way around.”
“It’s a beautiful house, isn’t it?”
I nodded and he only stared back at me. “Yes.” Silence. “You’re Changkyun from the note, right?”
“Yes! I was in such a hurry, I’m glad you saw it. Again, I’m sorry I wasn’t here when you woke up. You forgive me, right?”
“Uh yeah, I like being alone.”
“You’ll like it more when I’m here.” He retorted, curtly.
I doubt that. My thoughts must have been written across my face because he continued on.
“You know, it really hurts that you don’t remember me,” Guilt tripping me on a ridiculous request, “but you’ll love me soon. You’re someone who doesn’t make friends easy. I know that. But this way--” he gestured to the house around us. “--we can get to know each other without any distractions.” I think he means I’ll get to know him since he apparently knows too much about me already.
“My family–”
Changkyun cooed at me. “Jagiya, to the world, you ran away.”
I gave him a confused look. “I’m not sixteen! What am I running away from? My job?”
“You quit your job.”
Correction: he quit my job. Simultaneously, I wanted to know what he did to pick apart my life, and wanted to stay blissfully ignorant of everything he was capable of.
“Who are you?” I felt exasperated. “What do you want from me? Why are you obsessed with me? Please send me back home.” I covered my face with my hands as I began uncontrollably sobbing again.
This was all too much for one person to stand. For days, I had chronically had a cold sweat from all the anxiety, constantly on high alert, and now, just like I feared, in serious danger face to face with this maniac.
“All I want is for you to love me back.” His face looked torn and sympathetic as he rested a hand on the cushion in my lap.
“Don’t touch me,” I sobbed. “Please.” I added. The instability was giving me whiplash. He retracted his hand.
“What do you need from me?”
Fighting felt helpless. I was exhausted physically, mentally, and emotionally. “To be left alone,” I cried.
Changkyun was hesitant, obviously conflicted. After several long minutes of silence–apart from my ragged breathing–he sighed, dejected, “Okay.”
I caught myself before I let a thank you slip. I had no reason to thank him. “If you need me, I'll be in the study.”
I will never need you.
I waited for him to leave the room completely, before going to my room and locking the door, but I still wasn’t far enough away from him. I allowed myself to cry away the rest of my panic attack. My head was killing me. After crawling into bed, I cried myself to sleep.
 When I woke up, I saw the colors of the sunset light up the room. Or was that the sunrise? What direction was the window facing? I begged for it all to have been a dream. But my face had the distinct feeling of dried tears, and every muscle of my body was sore. Was that monster still in the house? My stomach ached. Could I sneak past him for some food– even just a snack?
Now, it felt like every step I took thundered through the house; I made my way to the kitchen. There he was.
“Hi sleepyhead,” Changkyun spoke gently and smiled.
How did he know I was sleeping? I locked the door and unlocked it when I came out. What, was he listening through the door? Or did he really have cameras like I feared? Could he see my every move, no matter where I was in the house?
“You were starting lunch when I came home, so you haven’t eaten since this morning have you?”
My mouth was dry from all the crying. “Is it still the same day?” I managed to rasp out.
He laughed to himself, “Your nap was that good? Yeah, it's still the same day. Let’s spend dinner together.” Bags of takeout sat open on the counter. It smelled wonderful; my stomach growled. “This is for you. You’ll like it,” he pushed a container across the kitchen island, towards where I stood.
“Sit over there.” I pointed to one side of the kitchen table. “Please,” I corrected myself when he gave me that same challenging look.
Happily, Changkyun took a seat at the far end of the table where I had pointed. He perked up when I carried the container of food and sat with him at the table–albeit, as far away from him as possible.
“This is nice.” This is awkward. I corrected him in my head. “Aren’t you going to thank me for the food?”
With a deep inhale, I steeled myself, “Thank you.” I gritted my teeth.
“You’re welcome.” He was absolutely beaming as he started on his food.
Throughout dinner, Changkyun chatted, and I gave minimal one-word answers to appease him. When I finished, I excused myself–Changkyun was disappointed but gave no objection–to sleep for the night.
“Take some water with you.” What am I? A child?
Two bottles of water stood on the counter next to the discarded bag the food came in. Water pooled on the counter around them as another drop of condensation trickled down the side. At least they were cold. I nodded and took one upstairs with me.
I waited to get inside the safety of my bedroom so he couldn’t congratulate himself on knowing how desperate I was for a drink. The uncomfortable feeling I got from being in the same room with him trumped how uncomfortably thirsty I was. Cold water had never tasted so wonderful. I chugged the whole thing in one go. It was then I registered how tired I was. Despite just waking up, I was suddenly hit with an overwhelming wave of sleepiness. My vision began to blur, and I barely made it to the bed before I passed out completely.
