Updates on our January-February Challenge and what we have planned for March

So, our January-February challenge was largely a bust. Only three members have participated and the challenge closes on Tuesday. Because we have had such minimal participation, there will be no voting round for this month's challenge as was originally planned.

We will be holding a shortened challenge in March that will only last 2-3 weeks. Themes for that challenge will be Green, St. Patrick's Day, and Luck. We've had 16 people say that they were interested, so we're hoping to see larger turnout for this. Because the turnaround is so short we will not have a voting period in March, either. Works can still be submitted to the January-February challenge until end of day on Tuesday. You must be a member of the Archive of Our Own Haven for Writers Readers and Fans group on Facebook or our Discord chat to be eligible to submit a fic. All works must deal with themes of either New Beginnings, Winter Romance, or some combination of both. All other aspects are up to the writer.

Greetings, Artists! It is I, Zelphin, and I am back with the annual SeasonTale competition! Welcome back to the second year of the SeasonTale Creative Challenge!

There are going to be a few changes from last year. One, there will be no voice acting addition to the competition this year, and writings will receive short story prizes, not cash prizes like the artists.

DEADLINE IS NOV 15th, 2024, 12:00 AM (GMT-4)

Epic the musical side story where Hades and Persephone get really invested in the story during The underworld saga, sorta small talk about the strange man for the next couple of years, and then freak the fuck out in the audience during god games when they find out not only is the guy still alive, he’s managed to piss off like half the pantheon

“Okay- wait. A bunch of the dead are singing to him”

“Yeah like a bunch. Who are they?”

“Uhh, most of them drowned, a few killed by a cyclops. One broke his neck?”

“They’re singing about a cyclops, about how he let one live or something”

“Probably one of Poseidons. Should I still call Thanatos?”

“No wait, I wanna see where this goes.”

“An infant, what infant?”

“Maybe the cyclops?”

“OH NEW GUY! He seems important!”

“Also a cyclops victim. They seem close, what do you think friend or lover?”

“They’re Greek, it’s probably both”

“Yeah he’s one of Athenas warriors! Ody something. Odyssen? Odyssa? Whatever, I remember the horse thing was a big deal when it happened, Ares was pissed, Hermes spread the word to all of mount Olympus”

“One of Athenas eh? Interesting. Oh yeah, the god was definitely Poseidon”

“How are you sure?”

“That line he just sung, “Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves”, Posy is always fucking saying that crap”

“500 men? Damn”

“Penelope, presumably the wife. Don’t know about the other guy tho”

“Either a son, brother, or lover. Or maybe just a friend I dunno”

“Another infant? What the fuck is wrong with this guy, pulling a fucking Hera”

“Gotta appreciate the determination of him”

The thing I love about Victorian and Edwardian fashion is that even if I don't like a piece of clothing, even if it's an affront to God and the most unfortunate combination of colours and drapery, I am ALWAYS stunned into appreciation when I see the details. The amount of minute, manual attention paid to each square centimetre of cloth is mindblowing. I can just imagine someone stooping over that corner of sleeve sewing on each individual bead or lining up the waist tape in a work dress or arranging the frills with a host of finicky pins. I wish each piece of my clothing was as unique and full of dedication and character

shipping renkaza fucking sucks because you either get people who hate real enemies to lovers and call it toxic or pr*ship because they actually are enemies who want to kill each other instead of friends who bicker sometimes (these people are the weakest link and will not survive the winter)

or you get people who do ship it but only in the gooner dumbing-it-down-to-hardcore-porn way where they romanticize and get off to abuse and r*pe (these people are just gross sick individuals and i hope they go extinct)

and the few people who do see the emotional depth in the homoerotic minutes renkaza spent together and the potential in that for top tier doomed yaoi are few and far in between and i rarely find good fics that aren't just insanely ooc porn
