How do you get work assignments done while traveling??? On a train, no less! You don't need to actually answer if you don't want to, this is more an expression of awe. Alternative ask: What is something else that you are proud of yourself for doing recently?

LOL this is an extremely fair question. i'm not very good at doing personal creative work on a train, if i tell myself "i'll do creative writing on the train :)" (or plane, or whatever) i will inevitably find myself listening to music and staring out the window. however i think the fact that i'm kind of slaying work today has to do with the fact that a) i work just about ANYWHERE better than in my own apartment, where i live, b) lately the worst harm to my work has been done by 'getting tired and laying down', a hobby that is so enchanting that it can go on for hours and one which is not available to me on the train, and c) i'm just kind of fucking insane about traveling, especially the kind of traveling where i'm not the one doing the driving. the more steps the travel takes the more insane and kind of problematically energetic i get. i may have "not gotten very much sleep" but what i do have is the knowledge that i am taking the bus then the metro then the train to see a friend, and that fills me with a kind of weird intense motivation that i don't often experience in day to day situations

...it also helps that the stupid amtrak chairtable is more ergonomic than the dining table i have to work on at home or the tables in either of my local walkable coffee shops. which is more of an indictment of the dining table/coffee shops than praise of amtrak chairtables, but is worth noting as a factor nonetheless.

I think so much of the misogyny in Harry's lyrics is written off because a lot off fans interpret it as him talking about his gender identity, when on the face of it it there is such deep misogyny it's odd

This is why it's so important to me to emphasise that the surface level of a song matters. If Harry was talking about gender in any of these songs, it wouldn't change my response to the misogyny at all.

I'm never sure if fans genuinely think that if Harry was talking about gender then it would erase the misogyny. Or if they just ignore the misogyny. But I don't think either position is sustainable as a way of discussing art (it's fine as a personal reaction - we all react to art in different way, but anything beyond that I think becomes erasure). I'd be interested to hear people who see the songs that way talk about the misogyny directly, but it's not something that happens often.

On top of that, fans can talk about what the songs mean for them, or guess at what they mean for Harry, but these two interpretations are not the same thing. And fan guesses about what songs mean for Harry are probably wrong. Whenever he's talked about what a song means to him (I'm thinking ESNY and LOML) - they're not meaning that I guessed, or saw other fans suggesting. I don't think Harry writes to make his personal meaning accessible to outsiders. I personally think if Harry was ever to reveal that songs were exploring gender, they might be very different from the songs fans suggest.

THAUMIEL- Thaumiel-class SCPs are anomalies that the Foundation specifically uses to contain other SCPs. Even the mere existence of Thaumiel-class objects is classified at the highest levels of the Foundation and their locations, functions, and current status are known to few Foundation personnel outside of the 05 Council.

Batman and Iron Man are not STRICTLY Conservative

There is nothing wrong nor even nothing strictly Conservative about Batman, Iron Man, Green Arrow or other such heroes being rich CEOs. That’s an interpretation wholly lacking nuance and is innately blinded by a bi-partisan and low-key Marxist ideology along with a failing of analytical skills.

These character present a fantasy, something that is not real, about billionaire CEOs who use their wealth and power to help which for readers is a message that such real life CEOs SHOULD be like this and/or that it would be nice if they were.

They don’t push the idea that they really ARE like that, which (correct me if I am wrong) is what the GOP pushes. The GOP pushes that such people aren’t that bad or could be beneficial so we should support them and cut them a tax break to make it more doable.

Bruce and Tony present fantasies that the readership are in on, or became fantasies for people to be in on after a certain point in time. I’m not  suggesting that Adam West Bruce Wayne was not coded as ‘there are people who are really like this you know’. But the more modern interpretations of Batman very much do present him in that light as very aware of how his wealth can have a positive impact and seeking out to do that whilst also not trying to play it as though this isn’t exceptional and could happen if rich people were given the chance. It’s a ‘wouldn’t it be nice if’ and ‘rich people should behave like this instead of not’ sort of thing.

Look at Tony’s origin. He was exactly the kind of person Conservatives would love and Liberals would hate but the whole point was he was changed by his experience and sought to use his wealth altruistically. So he was created with the acknowledgment that most people of his standing are not that way.

Bruce and Tony’s stories don’t pretend like the playing field is equal and in Tony’s case makes it clear he didn’t deserve his wealth because he obtained it from a harmful place. Hence his story was about using it to help others. Bruce’s stories involve him using his wealth to help the less fortunate.

And I get that you can read a Conservative love letter in there. The idea that being a rich businessman is obviously proof that you worked hard and therefore deserve to be rich. Maybe you even deserve to be the President!

Except that doesn’t apply to guys like Bruce or Tony.

Bruce never earned his wealth in the first place and Tony expanded his inheritance via profiteering off of human misery. In both cases they used said wealth to later help others via chairtable efforts, inventing items or enabling themselves to combat threats to innocent people in the form of criminals and super villains. Their stories meanwhile paint them as exceptions among the rich elites so they are not pretending like most rich people are like this.

AH but…

Wouldn't Tony and Bruce have even more resources to do good if the big bad government didn't take money from them? 

Not necessarily no, because (in theory) the taxes the government takes  are supposed to help people by paying for public services and utilities. This is a  projection contingent upon the idea that the stories demonize the government or explicitly make it clear that more money = greater capacity for good.

Batman and Iron Man have never argued (even subtexually) against paying your taxes. The opposite if anything if you look at the Adam West series. They’ve also not wholesale demonized the government, at least not all the time. Batman after all didn’t even start out as particularly rich his wealth was added on as a way of simply explaining after the fact how he was able to even be Batman it wasn’t the thing upon which he was built around at all. And as I’ve said Iron Man was very explicitly a Liberally driven character because his wealth was condemned due to originating from human misery from which the man himself was made to suffer. Tony Stark was disabled as a result of the very weapons he himself helped create and originally this destroyed his life style, making it clear he couldn’t go out partying or dating anymore. So he paid for the wealth he had with a taste of his own medicine and then channelled it into altruism. The stories never framed the government as evil or taxation as evil. But again this is where things get complicated because from at least a certain Liberal pov the government would probably be framed that way as they are the ones actively maintaining and deepening societal inequalities and taxes being the way for politicians to line their pockets. So like it’s almost a damned if you do damned if you don’t situation.
