DEATH FAMILY!!!

I figured my family portrait needed to be updated, enough changes have happened, the reboot, the new home, the EK, the Tallulah change… so here's my new version.

Now they are posing from the dock of their new house (the background is horrible, I know, I'm sorry).

Really Phil and Missa's designs are practically the same.

Missa has not changed from his previous designs, with or without his mask.

(there are some changes in Phil, the most noticeable are his corrupted wings)...

But the children… ohh! The children had to have changes... I always had a conflict with Chay's design, because I didn't want to do it with black hair (with black hair and his skeleton mask he looked like just a mini Missa without anything else), but I felt bad about making him completely blonde, bc I felt like I was leaving Missa out, but now with Tallulah taking on characteristics from Missa, it's easier to relax with Chay's colors.

Chay prefers to wear his mask to appear more dangerous, since his face is actually very cute and that is not at all threatening as a warrior. He has the hardcore heart of his father Philza and some details paying homage to his hero Technoblade (the small pink braid in his hair) (AlsoIn my HC they can show or hide his tails or horns and other dragon features).

This is my Tallulah's design.

The closeness between Missa and Tallulah and the fact that they already have a father-daughter relationship warmed my heart. My previous design of Tallulah never completely convinced me, perhaps because I still felt like she was foreign in some way, perhaps because I had made her only because she was supposed to be there, but in my mind the idea that her presence was something "temporary" prevented me from get completely attached. Now she finally managed to sneak into my chest and it was really fun to design her again, this time giving her Missa's characteristics, because now he is her father completely, as much as Phil and there is no longer any problem of saying it without thousands of voices coming to reproach for it and clarify that they are only their temporary parents.

I decided that the children's colors would be a mix of their parents' in different tones, having a similar color palette. So Tallulah has Missa's hair and Phil's eyes, while Chay has Phil's hair and Missa's eyes (Chay with purple eyes Yay!) leaving their delicate balance between yin and yang intact.

I wanted to give Lullah a striped hat, like Phil's emote, but I opted to merge it with the mushroom hat. I also left the flowers in her hair because I thought they were very pretty. I wanted to give it a style between punk and emo, but I chose to mix it with the boho style and it suits it well. ALSO I gave him a bone flute, because I read somewhere that someone mentioned that Missa had made him a bone flute and I died of tenderness.

I don't know why I'm giving so many explanations about this, it was just necessary to upload the images and say goodbye, sometimes I feel like an obsessive fool for talking about things too much, but anyway…

All the outrage about "chai" as Pav's ship abbreviation was fucking stupid

Ok so. I may be late to this discourse but by gods am I going to put this out there anyway bc this shit has been FRUSTRATING me for a while okay.

USING 'CHAI' AS AN ABBREVIATION FOR PAVITR IN SHIP NAMES IS NOT FUCKING PROBLEMATIC OR STEROTYPING OR WHATEVER DUMB SHIT I'VE SEEN (mostly non-Indian)PEOPLE SCREAMING ABOUT OUT HERE ON MY DASH. GO TOUCH SOME GRASS, Y'ALL, FIND BETTER PROBLEMS IF YOU'RE SO PRESSED TO BE MAD ABT SOMETHING!!

I'm Indian and I am so so sick and tired of, from what I can tell, mostly white people getting mad about Pav's ship abbreviation being chai??

No no. Go on. Find me my fellow Indians spearheading the conversation about 'chai' being a problematic name. Show me where the droves of offended desis are. And I don't mean just a few Indians agreeing with the "chai is stereotypical" thing while non-Indians lead the conversation, I mean the Indians being the majority of the conversation. Since, you know, that's how it would and should be if it's actually such an offensive deal to Indians, right? We all have social media. It's not like we're waiting to be spoken for. Surely there should be at least as many, if not more, offended Indians about the chai thing as I've seen white people on here. I'll wait.

Obviously I don't speak for all Indian people, I'm just one person, but from what I've seen and what I can tell, there don't seem to be any actual Indian people getting offended or claiming his name being 'chai' is Bad and Evil and Offensive and Stereotyping?? All I see are non-Indian people getting so damn offended on our behalf???

I loved his ship name being chai. I loved the representation. I loved the desi tadka, I remember when I exited the theater after ATSV and scoured through my social media and saw "chaipunk" and "chaiflower" and everything with chai going around. I was so fucking elated to see an ethnic word being used in the tagosphere!! It made my Indian heart so happy to see an Indian character who is so so close to my heart be represented with an Indian cultural word.

But nooooooo apparently we can't have nice things, because people just had to white knight about it. Apparently it is harmful and stereotypical to be using chai as his ship name.

Clearly, we gotta change it to golden. Or something similarly English and white-sounding and you know, inoffensive.

So, because I want to nitpick all the arguments I've heard as to why using "chai" is bad, let's go point-by-point:

It's reductive, you're describing a character by just one thing - yes well noted, that's literally what ship names are for. They are shorthand for characters to remember them by, they're supposed to be memorable one-liners to go by for them. It doesn't "reduce their whole personality to one bit" or "define them" or whatever - by that logic, is Miles' entire personality "flower", or Hobie's entire personality "punk"?? Gwen's just a "ghost" then, huh?? The whole POINT of a ship abbreviation is to be short and memorable. And chai is a whole fucking lot more memorable than "golden" or "shine" or whatever - those alternatives aren't even based in canon?? They are just purely fanon interpretations. Meanwhile chai is actually based in canon and a really memorable line from it too. I've had friends who were so confused as to who the golden abbreviation is for and then asking me how it's related to Pav when they browsed through the tags, but whenever they heard "chaipunk" and stuff they got it without me having to explain shit. Also, y'all are reading the Indian reaction to the chai-tea thing very wrong if you think we are offended by chai being a memorable bit about him - we are literally the ones most hyped about the chai-tea thing? You have no idea how loud the Indian theaters cheered at that line and how many Indian-made edits have been circulating. Again, with the caveat that I speak for my experienced social circle and not every Indian to ever exist, WE LOVE THE CHAI THING. It is a really lovable and memorable bit to us - one that has endeared his character to so many of us so quickly! So I have no idea where the idea that we're offended by the chai-tea line being memorable came from, but y'all really need to go out and talk to some desis before speaking and getting mad for us.

It's stereotypical - Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't realize an Indian character named with an Indian ethnic word about an Indian cultural drink is stereotyping, now. Just say you felt called out by the chai tea bit or got tired of how much people were talking about it or didn't like having to learn and use an ethnic word and be done with it. Now, to be completely fair, this is the point in the argument that holds the most water. I have seen a lot of fanart and fanfic in the very early days of ATSV fan content, quite far down the tag at this point, that reduced Pav's entire personality to chai, just made him the tea guy, made him so chai obsessed it was quite OOC and annoying and yes it did feel pretty stereotypical. That kind of thing is extra obvious in some NSFW arts I've seen around, that really give me the ick because that is not necessary, that is actually just weird and smells a little like fetishizing. But long story short, yes, Pav's character did tend to be reduced to chai in the early fan content. But guess what. That kind of thing happens to every side character in beloved media until more creators get their hands on them, adopt them as their blorbos, and make more developed characters and content out of them!!! Every side character that has a memorable bit gets overused in that bit until more creators get on board to flesh them out! Or have we forgotten "AND PEGGY!", "Honor", "ONIONS!!" and other miscreants? Surely those are ALSO stereotyping then, right? Also. Even if Pav's early fan content with chai was veering towards overuse and maybe stereotyping. Let's assume that's right. HOW EXACTLY WOULD THE SHIP NAME CHANGE THAT, THEN? The ship name changing wouldn't have done diddly squat about that - he was already getting more developed character in fics and in art before people pushed for his ship name to be changed to something less ethnic sounding. I should know, I was one of the people writing him even then. The tag changing wasn't going to magically change the content. The fan creators did that.

It's unrelated to him, it's stereotypical specifically in that flavour - bitch what. Did we watch the same movie. This point in particular frustrates me so much, because I remember someone on here - I don't remember who - talking about how it makes sense to use "flower" for Miles because his favourite song is Sunflower but in that same sentence saying it's ridiculous to use "chai" for Pav. What logical hoops are you jumping to get to this conclusion, my sibling of the sea? If we can use "flower" for Miles - which was literally a song he sang once, maybe twice, in the first movie, never even saying it was his favourite but just showing us he liked it - then it makes just as much sense to use "chai" for Pavitr? Pav literally says he drinks chai every day with Maya Aunty, it's linked to his life and family, and he clearly liked and thought of it as important enough to put it in his intro speech. Also, as an Indian, in my experience at least chai is a very important and yet casual cultural thing for us, that a lot of us have a connection to in our everyday lives and it makes sense for him to have it too. It's not like people are just seeing the Indian character and automatically labelling him with chai - he talks about it, he likes chai, it's not out of nowhere. Also, if we're talking about how related the abbreviation is, HOW is "golden" related??? That is even more out of nowhere??? Everyone I've asked seems to have a different justification of why golden is used. From bc he's a golden boy to golden bc of his bangles or vibes - they're all speculative and based almost entirely in fanon. Like. Chai is so much more related.

Also. Using chai? IT'S NOT A BIG FUCKING DEAL. It's just a word. It is normal to me, to us Indians, as normal as using any other word in English, or Hindi, or our regional languages. I don't see why it's such a big deal that it needs to be changed to something English. It's literally just like if you made his abbreviation "tea" - except now you've taken the desiness out of it. Congratulations.

This isn't a cause I'm going to die mad about or anything. It's just been slowly annoying and eating away at me to see so many, again from what I can tell mostly non-Indian people, being mad about chai being his ship abbreviation. It feels like a bit of a gut punch to the part of me that was so happy to see this tiny part of myself and my language and culture represented in a character I love. As my friend once said, "chaipunk sounds like a cool punk movement I'd join. goldenpunk just sounds white."

The straw that finally broke the camel's back and got me posting about it is this realization that I had:

All the hue and cry to change Pavitr's ship name from "chai" to the more 'acceptable' "golden"? It reeks an awful lot of whitewashing.

People literally got so offended about an Indian character having an Indian ship abbrev that they clamoured till it got changed to something English. It leaves a very off taste in my mouth when I think about it like this.

Rio and Jeff both have different and unique relationships with all of the arachkids that Miles brings home (or that just seem to spawn in their living room periodically lmao).

They both love Pav (who doesn’t?). Rio loves his more outgoing/goofy personality and how it brings it out in everyone around him (Jeff especially gets a bit goofy and it reminds her of when Miles was young and how they used to play and interact — it makes her heart melt). Jeff likes good vibes and the kid is full of them lol, easy banter, perfect ‘yes, and’ energy all around. They constantly ask how his girlfriend and family are doing. He brings them authentic chai (they’ve all dropped the ‘chai tea’ phrase) and brings Rio gifts almost every time he’s over as a thanks for letting him impose on their space (flowers, fabrics, jewelry, you name it. she loves and appreciates every thing he brings and is very touched at the thought despite telling him every time that it’s not necessary).

Neither had a great impression of Gwen at first, and it’s still a bit tentative but they can see how happy she makes Miles and how much she means to everyone in the group. Rio immediately notices how she shows her care and affection differently than anyone else — it’s in the details that she leaves behind. A sweater here, a drumstick there, as if to say ‘I know I’m universes away but I’m also still here and I’ll be back’. Jeff notices how the girl is always teasing but never too far, just enough to poke fun and more often put people at ease. She wants everyone to be comfortable and happy. She flits in and out sporadically but is always there when she’s needed. She is the biggest supporter of Miles’ creativity and somehow always knows when he’s close to burning himself out with schoolwork and makes a point to drag him out and let off some steam to get his mind to a better place. She’s getting better at the respect part, only slipping up on their names a few times and learning the etiquette rules. They both appreciate her efforts.

Margo is their favorite, hands down. She’s the perfect mix of respectful and witty. She keeps them all honest. She’s always the first to offer to help cook or set the table anytime she’s over for dinner. She helps Jeff with his tech problems and has long conversations with Rio in spanish (they have slightly different accents and dialect but they make it work). She is literally their ideal daughter in law (but would never push Miles away from who he wants, so they leave the matter be and just appreciate her as Miles’ friend).

Hobie is the most complicated out of the bunch. Rio sees him as someone in need of her mothering and is constantly trying to force food and comfort onto him. Every time he’s over she offers their house for the night so she can have peace of mind knowing that he’s safe (she had heard that he doesn’t have a stable living situation and has been Worried since). She knows he comes from a complicated world and wants to help the kid her son is so fond of. He is respectful and considerate, if a little bit tense whenever Jeff is around. Rio doesn’t mind his punk look or attitude, after all, she herself was a bit of an anarchist once upon a time and she just wants the best for him. Jeff likes Hobie. He really does. Even if they butt heads and have very different (and sometimes loud) opinions on certain topics. But at the end of the day he feels for the kid and wishes things were different in both of their worlds so Hobie wouldn’t have to feel so on edge around him. He knows they’re never going to be best buds or maybe even anything better than ‘slightly tense and awkward’ but he vows to at least do anything in his power to show the kid that there’s still good in the world(s).

Rio and Jeff are just glad that Miles has so many people in his life that love and support him <3

Present for the Birthday Boy!

"Come on, mates. This being one of the best birthdays I ever had. I wouldn't say it being the best of the BEST. I have to be completely gobsmacked." Hobie sats down on table after he finished dancing with his friends and boyfriend.

The Spider-Band created a surprised party for Hobie's twenty fourth birthday, it was a big deal since Hobie mentions his birthdays were never celebrated. It was always something small or the days weren't on their free day. Sometimes his closest friends Karl or Rhi-rhi would make a big party after weeks to celebrate.

So this time, Miles wanted to give him the best birthday party ever! Being twenty four is a big thing, Hobie is an adult and grew to one of the best Spider-mens around. The latest he can do is give something his boyfriend enjoys, so he had Gwen and Pavtri to help him Set a big party in an abandon warehouse in Hobie's world with the help of Karl and Rhi-Rhi- plus some close punkers.

Then, some of the main four Spider Band had their other friends helps like Peni, Margo, Slick, Sun Spider and so on. The only thing is they weren't sure how Hobie would feel about inviting adults like Jess, Peter, and Miguel... so they kept it professional tricking Hobie thinking a surprise party at HQ was his party.

The small party was a week before Hobie's actual birthday, and there was a small cake made by Margo. Gwen helped made some organic green cupcakes. Then, Pavtri made his family homemade Chai lattes, so all the adults get to enjoy the small party. It was mostly professional to keep away the adults from knowing the other party.

Miles knew his boyfriend wouldn't suspect nothing after that small party before his birthday. Not to mention, Hobie's birthday is on February and on a leap year at that. So this is a very big deal that his boyfriend's birthday is celebrate right on the 29th!

And boy, did Hobart didn't expected the surprised party on the day of his birthday. He was completely shock about it all. At first, he thought his darling Sunflower wanted to check out the abandon warehouse for fun after they got dressed up for the movies. Hobie really wanted to see Halloween, but the idea of watching a romantic film to make out was tempting. He should've known the moment his Sunflower disappear into the dark warehouse, chills run down his spine when he didn't hear Miles' response.

Then, as he steps into the warehouse a loud "SURPRISE!" Shook his to the core, when he saw firecrackers, lights and wicked decorated warehouse to a punker aesthetic for the birthday party. Miles giggles going up to his man to kiss him on the lips and hand him a bouquet of flowers to say, 'Happy Birthday, bae. Hope you like this.'

Hobie indeed can say he did love it, the more he hears it was his Miles' plan, the more he loves it. Oh, how his darling Sunflower is too good for him!

The party was MAD, it's the best blimey party Hobie ever had. There was music, everyone he cared for and dear. Hell, his siblings came by to celebrate, all his mates/punker allies were there to go crazy. There was beer, food, and many different indie bands from rock to soul to a whole mix of metal and punk. Then some people went up to sing karaoke or dance their heart out. Heck even young drag queens and other subcultured groups that were deemed by society. Some iconic Drag Queen performs and some did a stand up. It's the best party of the year some claimed.

Here is Hobie Brown sitting on a hand made Birthday boy Throne with a fake hand crafted crown on stage. One Drag Queen did a roast, then Karl hold his beer out to give his speech about being his best friend. Hobie couldn't help but chuckles at every joke the Drag Queen did or almost shedding a tear from his best mate's speech. Yet, his eyes were on his Miles. Wasn't he gonna give his own speech?

Surely he has to, because Gwen and everyone else did. Miles only sat by the table clapping and cheering on. Heck, Hobie's older sister made a small speech about him and they had their tiffs!

So here Hobie chug a Keg of beer while sloppily going to the table were his friends sat. Miles whispers low to Gwen's ear before getting up from his seat, "Hey, bae. I'm going to the bathroom, okay? Mwah, keep having fun." He kisses his punker boyfriend's lips.

"Wait, one more, luv." Hobie purrs with his lips locking against his partner's soft cherry flavor lips, "Mmm." He wishes his Sunflower made a speech then it would've been perfect.

Gwen and Pavtri were making, "OOOOHHHH, get it Miles! Get it Hobie!" They were drinking feeling more hyper than normal.

Hobie's hand rest on his boyfriend's waist before pulling away with a smirk, "Mmm."

"Hehehe, easy bae. Hold it out till the cake comes." Miles commented before leaving with his hand slipping away from his punker's hands. The young man wore a simple blouse top with dressing pants and nice Jordans. His hair still styled in short dreadlocks with gold cuffs.

Very different with Hobie having his hair stylized thick Jumbo dreads with added accessories like gold cuffs or beads. Then he had on a more spiked black leather jacket, shredded black skinny jeans with paint and added patches, and his thick heavy boots. All complete with accessories of two belts, chains, sloppy hand painted works and patches. Also he wore some rings and different types of bracelets, and three different types of necklaces.

"So, is this the best party you ever had?" Gwen finally asked the birthday boy as the loud band plays on stage everyone around them dancing and having fun.

And here they are, Hobie took a sip of his beer. Pavtri said, "Oh this isn't the best birthday? Why? This is totally top 1!"

"At least your top three." Gwen commented.

Hobie said, "I have my reasons."

"Well, maybe you'll change your mind when the cake comes." Gwen said.

"Why?" Hobie asked, then the whole lights in the warehouse shut off. Then a main light aim on stage giving a spotlight to a Rhi-rhi dressed as a Drag King, "Okay. Okay, I know you mutherfuckers want to keep drinking and partying, but it's time for the BIRTHDAY BOY TO CUT THE CAKE!"

"WHOO!" The whole crowd cheers out loud when the spotlight landed on Hobie.

"Huh? Wait, what about-" Pavtri and Gwen got him up while Karl pushes him up. Wait, what about his Sunflower? Surely, they wouldn't make him miss it.

"Come on, man! Sit here!" Karl made his best friend sit in front of the stage. "Rick, where is his crown?"

"Right here, bae!" Rick came in to place a crown on Hobie's head, "Hahaha, you're in for a surprised, man."

"Huh?" Hobie could only say that why Rhi-Rhi made a few dirty jokes here and there. The crowd laughs and cheers, until she did a stand up. All Hobie could think of, "Where is Miles?"

"Now, I would sing Happy Birthday, Hobie, but I ain't no fucking Marlyn Monroe so we got our buddy Rick rocking it." Rhi-Rhi shouted out loud as a small band plays a twisted version of Happy Birthday.

Then on stage there's a handmade large cake, it was being pushed by Gwen and Pavtri. Hobie sat being confused, "Is that real? Blimey it's huge!"

Rhi-Rhi smirking widely, "Happy Birthday Boy!"

Gwen rushes over to the DJ as she put on a song. They brought in futuristic music so they play variety. Hobie saw Pavtri and Rhi-Rhi quickly getting down from the stage once the cake stood in the middle of the stage. The punker's eyes arched as the cake shakes back and forth. "What is this?"

The large cardboard cake open up revealing Miles coming out wearing a sexy tight black leather front sleeveless body suit with a large v-neck with a large metal zipper dangling. His bare neat chest gave an illusion of cleavage, and he had long black gloves with thigh high boots, very thin six inch heels. Miles wore a black leather mini skirt. Makeup dramatic with a bold eyeliner, cheeks with glitter, and lips painted black lipliner and brown lipstick with a gloss over. His hair remained in his short dreads, but he added earrings.

Hobie's face fell, mouth dropped wide open making a huge 'O' shape. His eyes never been so wide by his Sunflower's appearance. His friends spotted his reaction having to laugh out loud.

"OMG, look at his face. He's shookth!" Gwen laughs along with Margo.

Pavtri and Karl cracking up. "YOUR FACE!"

Hobie didn't hear them by the crowd hyping up the dancer, which is his boyfriend and being so awestruck by him.

Miles began lip syncing as he began to dance sexually on stage, "It's okay, I know you want me," His body sway to the music, he did a slow cartwheel to split as he went toward Hobie's direction.

"Don't be afraid, love my body" Miles crawls on the stage being like a sexy feline with his intense stare. The young dancer stood on his knees as he did a hair flip while his hands rubs his waist to his chest and giving a little shimmy of chest toward his face.

Hobie watches his Sunflower leaving him speechless as he saw him lay on the floor then did a heel clack against the stage. "Up on display, at the party" The roaring at the show.

"I know you want me," Miles did a knee twist having to lay on the floor, "I know you want me"

Gwen grinning from ear to ear having to nudge Pavtri as they watch Hobie completely Pink, so pink and red that there was so many fonts popping up. Fonts like, "!?" Or "XXX" or "GOTDAMN!" The two were cracking up while they cheer on Miles.

The young man did a lot of erotic floor work, "I'm a god damn prize Kissing and victory in my eyes." Miles did another split with his ass bouncing on the beat and did another hair flip.

"I'm first in line," Hobie watches as his Sunflower finally got to him having to do a lap dance, his Sunflower smelled so amazing like tropical breeze. The punker turned mad bashful when his boyfriend flirtatiously lift his chin up as he lip sync, "Baby, better think twice 'cause the crown is mine.."

Miles smirks seeing his boyfriend leaning forward wanting to kiss him, but playfully shove him back against his seat, he turns away to slowly grind against his rear against his punker, "I'm a cut throat queen."

"I make the rules, I do as I please," The Black Latino head back the stage leaving his boyfriend flabbergasted, that he gave a wink. When Hobie wanted to lean close to him, Miles' boot gently shove him back again being a sexy minx. "Got you on your knees!"

"WhOOO, GO MILES!" Margo squeals!

Peni and Spider Zero laughs, "Heck yeah!"

"Oh my gawd, I never knew he can dance like that." Pavtri being surprised.

Miles smiles standing on stage. Time for the big reveal, "I'm a full course feast," He turns away from the crowd as he sway his hips side to side. "I'm a masterpiece! Uh!" He remove his mini skirt to reveal his other part of his body suit, which is the thong part with his plump ass cheeks hanging out.

"WHOOO! OH YEAH, BABY!" The crowd shouted.

Hobie's had no words, his whole body froze, palms sweaty, his lower groin aching, with his mouth being super dry. His heart beating so fast as he watches his confident boyfriend dancing on stage for him. So beautiful, so perfect, Hobie wanted to ravished him but he had to control himself.

The only time Miles allow him to touch him is when he did a close split at the edge of the stage so his punker can grab a fistful of his right asscheek. Honey brown eyes caught dark lustful eyes wanting him. Hobie seems he didn't want to let go of his rear, and this made him go to him to finish the lip sync. "I know you want me"

Hobie had his Sunflower on his lap again, this time he can smell the leather black gloves. Miles hugs his boyfriend with his arms around his punker's neck, "Happy Birthday, bae. Did you like my surprised?" He finally asked.

There was no words said from the punker. Instead he dipped Miles into a deepen kiss. Without another word, Hobie got up with Miles in his arms and he went off making the crowd laughing out loud. The party continued on as they all expected that little dance had the punker hot and bother.

"Hobie, what about your cake?" Miles pouted.

Hobie purrs lowly in his partner's eye, "You're my cake." This made Miles' face so warm. It wasn't long till Hobie took him back to his house boat and had their heated fun.

That being said, Hobie can say this birthday party is on his top three. Especially his darling looking too damn fine in tight leather bodysuits. Miles can say he is happy he got his boyfriend the best gift.
