"A WOMAN SOLDIER," Kingston Daily Standard. November 7, 1913. Page 10. --- Of Irish birth She Fought In Many Battles - Dressed as Man ---- Albert D. J. Cashier, an inmate of the Soldiers' Home at Quincy, Illinois, was discovered upon being admitted to the hospital of that institution, to be a woman, and the remarkable fact was established that for over fifty years she had worn man's clothing and concealed her sex. More than that she fought through three of the hardest battles of the American Civil War and innumerable lesser fights.

Now she draws a pension, and with feeble mind and body is waiting for the last roll call.

Her life is a mystery. She was born in Ireland on Christmas day, 1844. She is said to have crossed the Atlantic in boy's clothes as a stowaway. Soon afterward she entered the United States army. Even her name is unknown. She called herself "Albert Cashler," but all attempts to trace her identity have failed. She enlisted Aug. 6, 1862 at Belvidere, Ill., in the 95th Infantry, and was discharged Aug. 17, 1865. She did farm for two or three years at Belvidere, then disappeared. The next 40 years are her own secret. She is thought to have worked in a factory some where. Finally she became an automobile chauffeur and worked in that capacity until a couple of years ago, when her declining health made it necessary that she be cared for in a public institution. Only then was her secret discovered.

Could Anna get her Drivers License? She can only see the color red so seeing a stop light shouldn't be a problem, but what about all the other things to look out for on a drivers test?

You know I never thought about that but that’s a good question, like yes she can see a red light but she couldn’t distinguish between a green and yellow one, and any sign that’s like bright caution yellow wouldn’t show up either. She can see by looking through her marble but obviously she can’t hold that in front of her eye when she drives. I imagine if she were to learn to drive she would probably need some kind of corrective lenses to at least allow her to see some colors besides red, even if it’s just a little bit. Her issues presumably being related to her powers though I wonder if it would even be possible to get her any kind of ‘normal’ glasses that would help fix her problem though. It would be interesting if Homra tried to find a way to like use Anna’s marbles to have lenses made, like she has special red-color glasses that help her see contrasts and make it possible for her to drive. Though even in that case it may be difficult for Anna to get her license, like I could see the license bureau being hesitant about these weird special lenses and maybe not entirely believing that they even work. I think she’d be okay either way though, Shizume is a big city so I assume they have ample public transportation and if Anna really needs to go somewhere in a personal vehicle she has a whole clan of people who will volunteer to drive her, and even with her King powers lessened she might still at least be able to summon the flame wings and can just take herself places the easiest way, with the least amount of traffic.

"Reformatory Term For Forging $2,694 In Gov't Cheques," Ottawa Journal. March 4, 1943. Page 1 & 12. ---- Joseph Alfred Ernest Robert, 26, of 1 McGee street, a chauffeur at the National Research Council, was sentenced to two years less one day definite and six months indefinite in the reformatory by Deputy Magistrate Sauve this morning after pleading guilty to 24 separate charges.

The charges included those of forging Government cheques, cashing the forged cheques and the theft of cheques. The total face value of the cheques was $2,894.65 and all but one, worth $199.85, were cashed.

In imposing the sentence Deputy Magistrate Sauve said he had considered all aspects of the case carefully. "Some people seem to think that stealing from the Government is not as serious as stealing from an individual. This is false. However, I do not intend to be severe with Robert because I am convinced he is not a criminal - though I am impressed by the large amount of funds he stole and misappropriated".

Auguste Lemieux, K.C., appeared as a special prosecutor for the Department of Justice, and Jean T. Richard was counsel for Robert. Two weeks ago, Robert admitted 13 forgery charges. Today he admitted 11 other charges which were laid against him a week ago. All charges concern the stealing, forging and cashing of cheques.
