When people make angst of ckarl forgetting, it’s kinda ooc when he says “do I know you?” or something along those lines because that man is the king of improv and is pretty decent at context clues. So if someone comes up and acts like they know him, he’d pretend he knows them too. This fan content isn’t made all that much anymore but it’s something I think everytime I see it.

The necessary Union of Taoism and Anarchy
Refers to:
-Tao Te Ching by Laozi
-Adam Curtis' BBC Anarchist propaganda
-Past Experiences when at one with the Tao/at True Anarchism (not longer the case)
If you watch Adam Curtis' "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" an emphasis is made on certain individuals, contrasting them with the emotional state of their societies at the time. These individuals share many things, the most common being their fight against Power Structures. The most interesting, which only takes into account a set few of the individuals chosen to be observed, are those whose Ego seems to be immense. The case of Jiang Qing is the most fascinating in how clear the demarcation between the Rise and Fall are.
Jiang Qing wanted to be the best actress in 1930s New China, post Qing collapse. Her abilities to act were excellent, but she came across a better actress, Li Lili, who upstaged her in the production of "Bloodshed on Wolf Mountain". The Director chose Li over Jiang. The Power Structure of cinema at the time got in the way of Jiang. Therefore she left, and found herself allied with the most determined Revolutionary in China at the time. Revolutionaries whose purpose was to destroy Power. Jiang and Mao were a glamourous couple, together, they were undefeatable and could not be stopped. All the Chinese Communists were enthralled, and for all the flaws of the couple, they were doing their best as Revolutionaries. Then, a man more powerful but more cynical, Stalin, split the couple on behalf of a jealous few within the existing Communists. This marked the end of the inspiring couple, and both fell into cycles of despair, jealousy and all sorts of negative emotions, while retaining their skills in Charisma. Such Charisma ensured Mao could make the mistake of the Great Leap Forward, and Jiang's Charisma enabled the CCP to act out its Cultural Revolution. All traceable back to a moment where the USSR, a more powerful nation, interfered with the affairs of a couple who were truly glorious.
The pattern of proud, inspired individuals or couples throughout history, excelling in their field and encouraging others to join their revolutionary cause, whether in arts or politics, is made extremely clear by Curtis. Fortunately, the details of when the Power Structure interfered and made these individuals fall from their heights is left in so the viewer can connect the dots. One may look back at the legacies of Political Revolutionaries such as Mao and Lenin, as well as Artistic Revolutionaries such as John Lennon or Eduard Limonov, and be able to see them as good people until a certain point in time. The point in time when a pre-existing Power Structure was unable to be broken, as they are not all connected directly. It takes effort to convert Political Power to Economic Power (the effort of corruption), and therefore one could imagine a pair of structures, where the biggest one (nowadays economic power) dominates the other, and therefore dominates those who try to destroy such power structure. Money Corrupts even the most ardent geniuses, whether they be a genius in art, politics, crowd charisma, or humour (one can realise that these strengths are one and the same, but applied to different contexts).
And now we get to Taoism. Not the entirety of it, simply the original text of the Tao Te Ching by Laozi, who is attempting to describe their current state of "Enlightenment" with the language at hand. When wanting to completely understand the concept of reaching either Enlightenment, Nirvana, monotheistic Salvation, the original Brahmin, the Ubermensch, or in this case, Tao, one must also take into account the language such texts were written in. Latin became crucial due to the Bible, Arabic from the Koran, and of course Mandarin, enabled by the works of Laozi and Confucius, who "wrote down" what sages were sharing verbally, making history of tradition. The Tao Te Ching makes many references to different kind of ideas regarding morality, morality which the sages at the time spent much time understanding. Reaching Tao is an attempt to transcend morality by placing oneself in the shoes of all, not just all people, but all things, as the Tao is all.
Quote drop:
-Being and non-being produce each other.
-> everything is relative
-If you overvalue possessions, people will begin to steal.
-> unnecessary pride causes jealous envy
-The Tao is like an empty container
->reaching Tao frees one of desires that are to be considered sins
-Heaven and Earth are impartial
-> there is NO OBJECTIVE MORALITY OF ACTION
-The best leaders are those the people hardly know exist. The next best is a leader who is loved and praised.
-> Goebbels and Hitler (who shared a hatred of the Elite which they foolishly believed to be entirely composed of Jews, a foolish take that became evil action)
or
-> Mao Zedong and Jiang Qing (Mao was loved, but Jiang aided in the background, leading her to not be seen as "valuable" by the other communists, especially Stalin)
or
-> Eduard Limonov and Yelena Shchapova (allied in the arts until Yelena switched to sucking up for money, leaving Limonov seething against money and become anti-capitalist radical, but no longer an inspired poet)
-If a ruler abides by its principles, then their people will willingly follow. Heaven would then reign on earth, like sweet rain falling on paradise. People would have no need for laws, because the law would be written on their hearts
->The best leaders of any particular Power Structure are those that have reached Tao, due to their inability to be corrupted
-The Tao of Heaven nourishes by not forcing. The Tao of the Wise person acts by not competing.
-> The most interesting quote, as at no other point in the text was the detail that two forms of Tao exist.
end of Quote Drop
This last distinction is the most important, as we can pivot off this to understand the successes of Monotheistic Philosophy and Eastern Philosophy. The term Monotheistic Philosophy is used because an absolute conviction that a God exists can be used for a person to reach a form of Tao. A Tao where one is nourished by not forcing, emotionally nourished knowing that this anthropomorphized version of morality will give them Heaven. The catch is, God doesn't exist. Christ did. He had reached a form of Tao where one could nourish the confusion of others by not forcing. That is until the Power Structure of the Roman Empire got in the way.
Christ was an early Anarchist. He wanted to give the people around him a morality that superseded the laws of the Romans, who themselves simply applied what made the most sense to them, as Urban Dwellers with cool lore. In the stead of Christ, were born something strange, unexpected. Martyrs. They wouldn't teach morality, but apply it, in whatever way they knew possible, which when confronted with the unknown, would fail. Martyrs made great tales for the Bible and for the effort of conversion, but also inspired Crusaders to go on a pilgrimage, one that necessitated bloodshed due to the politics of the time (another issue of Power, but one too complex to flesh out here). Martyrs and Crusaders were trying to reach a different form of Enlightenment, where you would give yourself up to another person, a brave, proud individual who would fight against evil, you would be nourished for purpose by not forcing away the teachings of another, one more wise.
Europe re-learnt this lesson as they grew sick and tired of incompetent leadership. France begun the tradition of Western Anarchism, in the forms of democracy, unions and strikes. Robespierre inspired a nation to get rid of not just the King, but a corrupt and self-serving court. Unfortunately, bloodlust once unleashed cannot be stopped. Robespierre did not try to describe morality, as all the efforts of French Intellectuals at the time could only go as far as to say "I think, therefore I am", without anything practical. Such philosophies were philosophies of destroying Power Structures, but not one of finding good leaders. And then a drunk neuro-divergent German, pissed off at the control money had over his life and his marriage, wrote a Manifesto. One that would inspire a century of Revolutions, a century of Great Leaders, Enlightened Leaders. And yet, none managed to sustain the connection between the Tao of Heaven and the Tao of the Wise due to Power Structures splitting such individuals up. Communism for Morality, the Morality of all being equal in the eyes of Power, or whatever structure we delegate resource management to. Anarchy as a system to allow flexible changes of leadership, so that those who have reached the Tao can rise as far up as they are required to.
TO BE NOTED: in some cases ignorance holds power over an individual, this need not exist thanks to the Internet.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
-criticize my work. It sucks, my writing style was developed independently of any criticism. write something better
-encourage me to write more
-reach Tao, through meditation with moral mantras (the Tao Te Ching has many useful mantras to be used)
-be moral, but understand that without amorality, there is no morality. pity, then forgive those that are currently amoral, and encourage them to be more moral. this applies to yourself too. what is morality? just guess lmao no one rly knows, as long as you keep doing your best relative to your limitations (including the limitation of your current position relative to whatever power structure stops you from doing what you REALLY want)

Karl Jacobs/ Sapnap
Rated Mature | 2.5k/ 16k words | Chapter 4/ 7
Karl and Sapnap in Japan!
Tags: Friends to Lovers, Slow Burn, Angst with a Happy Ending, Fluff, Mutual Pining
Excerpt: He had his friends, of course. He loved George by chasing him around the kitchen with a twisted- up towel until he fended Sapnap off with a chef’s knife in each hand. He loved Dream by reading aloud the funniest, most outlandish hate tweets he could find and making fun of them until he made Dream cry- laugh.
But he didn’t love either of them by holding their hands, playing with their hair, letting himself be sweet and earnest and unfiltered in his affection. He didn’t realize how different it was, or how badly he needed someone like that, someone he could be soft with, in touch and voice and words. It couldn’t just be someone, though, he was coming to realize. It had to be Karl.

❔Choose a random WIP and talk about it and 💗Is there a scene you can’t wait to write for a WIP?
WIP Meme
I'm gonna talk about .scar.crossed.lovers. as a whole for a little bit.
I am having a lot of fun with this one because I'm rediscovering my ability to write one-shots. I feel like I always put more pressure on myself to writing these multi-chapter epics (that I never finish partly due to that pressure) . And this project is not like that at all.
I can write a one shot. I can write a string of chapters chronological or not that tie in together. I don't have to spend time on introductions or even proper endings. I just get to explore whatever random idea I have for Leon and/or Luis and it's so much fun. The most I've had writing in a while. Which is probably why it's been getting most of my attention lately.
💗
Oh man. There are a lot. There is a rather huge event that happens in the second act of Social Engineering that I'm kinda of excited for. I am not excited for the research I'm probably gonna have to do for it. But it's around this point that Ezra has to interact with people that are not Karl so it's fun to think about at least.
There is this scene that I'm eventually going to get to in one of the chapters of .scar.crossed.lovers. that involves my take on plaga!Luis that i have been planning that i think is kinda cool too. The idea of a dominant plaga infected Luis is just a cool idea. So many ways that can go. I'm excite. :3

Discussing Isolde's new garment "And all that Jazz" as an evolution of her original and insight 2 Outfits
Consider this a continuation of an earlier post with greater focus on the similarities of Isolde's new garment to her previous two and how they tie to her character development in Ch. 6 (this is global friendly)
(spoilers for just Chapter Six )
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In short her new garment in 2.1 can be considered the development of her character post the events of Ch.6.
The outfit we met Isolde in, the white one, signifies Isolde's previous repression of herself, her outfit similar to Trista in the Small Room story. While this sprite was used to depict young Isolde primarily, we can say that this more resembles Trista and how Isolde especially in her younger years was haunted and tormented by Trista. Isolde's boss the Mezzo takes a similar appearance to her original outfit than the insight 2 Tosca one, here again Isolde is repressed and allows Trista to possess her during the fight.
(Side note: Trista probably is the most powerful Dittasdorf in terms of the family's arcane powers, plus the fact that she died during a seance at a young age, became this relentless spirit that even years beyond her death continues to torment Isolde and as seen with her boss fight possess her)
Moving onto her insight 2 outfit this signifies the release of the repression, the inner self as Isolde peforms Tosca, kills Mr Karl, jumpstarts WW1 months earlier and proceeds to kill both Heinrich and Hoffman. Unlike the outfit she no longer has a veil obscuring half her face, a much smaller one signifying that loss of repression of desires.
Ignoring the green highlights and feathers clearly alluding to Kakania, the upper "jacket of the outfits does appear to mimic Kakania's jacket/ blazer or the ruffle on Isolde's first outfit, the overall sliver colour of the "And all that Jazz" garment calls back to her original outfit in being a darker shade, no longer is Isolde tied down by societal expectation of Vienna and acts freely (within the limitations of the Foundation ofc).
Both the low cut in her dress and the headpiece both reference to her insight 2 outfit, alongside her new voicelines signifies further this freedom from previous repression that Kakania (regardless of how much it did backfire) gave her. Yet despite this freedom was remains alone.
Additional note: in this new garment the knife is replaced with a cane that features very prominently. The cane has been historically seen as a overt status symbol of wealth and power, in comparison to a knife that would be easily concealed. We can speculate how Isolde in her younger years in the Small Room was thought to be meek and not stand out by Mr Karl, who eventually dies by Isolde's hand by a knife, no longer repressing any part of herself. What is noticable is that both Mr Karl and Isolde in her new garment dominantly hold the cane in their left (looks on the right to us and Mr Karl's is largely covered below) . We can speculate Isolde now possessing a cane reflects her increased power no longer under the repression of others (noteable ones being Mr Karl and Trista) instead able to act on their own, yet still cling to Kakania at the same time.
(Idk if it is the same cane Isolde is using as Mr Karl as I can't find a full spite of him but it would be interesting if it was, signifying her own triumph over the man who tormented her over the years to take his symbol of power)
Even her posture/ default stance is different: the previous outfits have a more reserved posture aiming to make herself the smallest in the room (does this count as a pun) whereas her new garment has her in a more confident and powerful pose, more open and empathises the cane again.
Summary - it is fascinating how her new garment doesn't seem like just an Opera Singer turned Jazz singer, instead a progression of her character following the events of Vienna as someone who while has escaped the torment and societal pressure is not truly free of that pain and trauma, but nevertheless no longer represses herself in the same way as before.

chapter two.
:
Quackity lost half his face in a car. He wasn’t awake for it. In his memory it goes like this: he’s in the passenger seat, he’s nodding off, he’s failing to use his arm as a pillow and bumping his head against the window. Then he’s in the hospital with half a face. He’s pretty sure he owes the seamlessness of the transition to being out cold for the accident, the ride to the hospital, and the ragdoll reconstruction of what was left. But if it’s because he repressed it, like some of the doctors suggest, then he has to give his subconscious credit. The surgical stitching of memories is so seamless that after the physical therapy and the eye exams and the driving tests he never hesitated to get back in a car. Until the roadtrip with Sapnap. He’s not sure what it says about him that the acid-sick burn in the back of his throat as he stood with his hand on the door handle had nothing to do with trauma and everything to do with his brother, whose face he might have forgotten the shape of if he hadn’t had pictures stored on his phone. He’s sure it isn’t good.
:
I prayed my mind be good to me
Karl takes a bracing breath. “Don’t freak out, but you’re not…in the world anymore. You’re just to the left of it. In between it and…something else.”
The road seems to narrow. The trees press closer.
“Consider it the world’s worst, never-ending roadtrip. A waystation filled with nothing but waystations. And as soon as you stop to rest, that’s when it gets you, so you can’t stop. You can’t rest. You can’t ever stop running.”
And Quackity hears the voice of a dead man. Are you just going to run again?
(On a roadtrip to see his brother for the first time in four years, Quackity gets lost in the space between spaces. Luckily he’s got his boyfriend riding shotgun, and also this cute gas station attendant, who knows much less and much more than he should.)
[Written for @pinchhitsfromthevoid, for a prompt by @coleopterad! I so enjoyed writing this, and though I regret that it wrote itself out of the sweet comedy I had intended and into a loving, fast-paced roadtdrip horror, I hope it meets the prompt in terms of relationship dynamics and ending. I do love me a healthy, deeply in love couple fighting the world and it’s very literal horrors. Enjoy!]
[Alternatively read on ao3.]
