reblogging so i can throw everything down lol
Faron is getting all the rogue buddies!
Faron/Alding/Zevran party sounds like a recipe for disaster (or a good time!) he is wary of humans - he initially keeps an emotional distance from them, but with some proving of themselves he can warm up.
I know Tierce is an Isabela supporter right? I think Faron would like her too, and while he'd be annoyed at being pushed at, he can handle grumpy and direct (at least it worked for him with cass lmao) but less so judgement. support for ruthlessness would win him favor though lol. He is just not willing to hear nobles out, less talking more killing.
I do think his reaction to being pushed at by Halen and Darien would be externally to just turn it on them "so curious! are you writing a novel?" or "i had no idea you valued my opinion so highly, you'll have to buy me a drink first" and internally like pls stfu and moodily brooding about it at night
I do think if they opened up to him first he would be willing to share more. It is my headcanon he tells Blackwall that he like killed a lot of innocent people in his vendetta for vengeance with his sister, after the Thom Rainier reveal and before anyone else. But generally it has to be right place right time, in private, maybe a couple drinks in, to get him to open up.
hi! bc he is on my mind! faron: he is a flashy flamboyant rogue, conflict averse in his personal friendships (although once pissed off that conflict aversion goes away). creative: plays several instruments, sings, draws, writes, whittles (maybe not all of them well). he is prone to deflecting on serious topics but he is wary of humans, he supports mages (his late wife was one!), and has a ruthless streak, very much looks like a cinnamon roll but would kill you. every thing is buried very deep, and he is the type to just “there there” with a ten foot broom if someone expresses raw emotion around him
We already did Rodaine so I'm gonna do my more complete worldstate + Tierce bc I love Tierce
Alding: he loves him a flashy elf rogue [glances at Zevran. Glances away] The biggest issue between them would probably be the wary of humans thing because if Alding picked up on the fact that he was uncomfortable, he might avoid to overcompensate because he is a bit of people pleaser. Aside from that, I think they'd get along. Rogue bros who are often conflict-averse 🤝
Darien Hawke: Darien is. Honestly also a conflict-averse people-pleaser lmao I was kind of projecting a lot in this worldstate I guess. Different from Alding, he would absolutely not even notice the wary of humans thing. He's really friendly so he'd just kinda rope him right in. He might find the deflection on serious things a bit difficult to get past bc he Knows deflection when he sees it (he does it Often and he doesn't like seeing it reflected back at him so he'd avoid those topics entirely once Faron deflected)
Tierce: I don't know if Faron would like Tierce but I think Tierce would like Faron for the most part? He also likes flashy rogues and people who know how to have a good time. The deflection might also be an issue for him, lol but in the opposite way from Darien, he would be more likely to push the issues because he is Not conflict-averse. However, given that Faron is at least pro-mage rights, he wouldn't get too aggressive about it and would not be above apologizing if things got heated (he'd be less above it if it turned out Faron was Pro-templar lol) He'd love to see Faron get Ruthless where it might scare some of the others on this list
Halen: Flashy rogue boys 🤝 (again. I also love flashy rogues turns out lol) I think he's definitely a bit more prone to showing raw emotions than some of the others on this list so that might make Faron uncomfortable but he's generally here for a good time. He enjoys getting others' perspectives on things so he'd be kind of disappointed to receive a deflection on an important topic and might push a bit more than is comfortable. He's another one who I think would like Faron maybe more than Faron likes him lol
Overall, I think they'd all get along with him but most of them would not try to break down that wall of his for various reasons so they might not necessarily be close. I'm not certain how Faron would react to Tierce so it's kind of a dice roll if they'd get close or like. Try to kill each other lmao

"a ten, but..." tag game
was tagged by @idolsgf @ndostairlyrium and @transprincecaspian. thank you! this was fun lol
Muren Tabris is a 10 but she thought your crying was laughter and said something that made you cry harder.
Grant Hawke is a 10 but he has terrible coping mechanisms and can't rely on someone else to save his life. Also he's drinking heavily.
Gideon Trevelyan is a 10 but he can tell any mage exactly how a Templar would take them down upon second meeting. In excruciating detail. While eating petit fours.
Faron Lavellan is a 10 but he really misses his dead wife.

WIP Wednesday
“It’s good to be close to an elf again. I mean, there’s Sera but she’s not interested in all the elfy camaraderie. Love her, but she keeps it at a distance.” Faron’s voice is soft in the darkness of the tent, his ever-present chatter breaking the stillness of the night. “Have you ever been close to an elf, Solas? Traveling around like you were? A real one.” He winces, “I mean a flesh one, not a spirit. Not that spirits aren’t real or anything-”
“I’ve been around elves, Faron.” Solas’ response hushes him.
“Have you, then?” Faron rolls onto his back. “It’s nice. Feels like I’m back home; the tent, the open air, you at my side. Just missing the aravels and the halla.”
“Me at your side?” Solas seems surprised at that. It makes Faron feel sheepish.
“Yeah, didn’t mean nothing by it. Just… falon’panelan again. Pushing back the baddies, bringing home food. It’s been a long time, it feels… nice.”
Falon’panelan, literally soldier friend, more poetically translated as brothers-in-arms in the Common tongue. The statement rings oddly in Solas’s mind. This is how the man views him? It isn’t quite wrong, but it doesn’t feel right either. His silence must have gone on too long, because Faron whispers,
“Sorry if that was weird or whatever, just feeling sappy I suppose.”
“No, it’s fine, lethallin. Just… unexpected.” He always was.
little faron & solas drabble thing I wrote, so not really a WIP but here it is

"So, last resort, I came here. You were gone but the door was open. I slipped in.” Faron shrugs. He turns back to face her and gestures with the book. “This was on your nightstand and the cover drew me in, I mean, look at it.” He shoves it towards her and sputters with laughter but stops when she noticeably doesn’t join in.
i love him

sera and faron party banter
Faron: Bet I could pick that lock faster than you.
Sera: Like shite you could. Bet I could sneak past those templars quicker than you.
Faron: Hmmm, maybe if I gave you a head start. Bet I can skin a rabbit faster than you.
Sera: Ew, what’s that got to do with rogue-y things?
Faron: Knives?
Sera: Bet I can shoot further than you.
Faron: (laughs) Bet you you could. There’s a reason I’m using daggers and not a bow, lethallan, I’m an awful shot
Sera: Eugh don’t call me that. You ruined it.
Faron: Call you what? Lethallan? It’s just a term of endearment… like… what is it you said to me? Ser Lordybloomers?
Sera: Don’t care. Didn’t ask. Don’t do it again.

Faron: party 2&4, Grant: protag-specific 12
2. Which companions (or advisors) are they closest friends with? Who do they respect?
4. Are there any companions (or advisors) they don’t get along with? Have any of them ever left the party?
These go hand in hand so I'm answering them together. I don't think Faron has disapproval with anyone technically but he is definitely closest to Sera, Blackwall, Cassandra, and Solas. Has a lot of respect for Leliana as spymaster and a fellow rogue.
I explained his dynamic with Vivienne as one sided dislike. He likes and respects her but fucks things up often lmao, tinted her armor plaidweave because an Orlesian merchant told him it was in fashion, spilled wine on her and rubbed the stain in when he tried to clean it up, etc.
How did they feel about becoming the Champion of Kirkwall?
LMAO Grant was overwhelmed to say the least. Increased attention on him and his family was the last thing he wanted. It put more of a spotlight on him, which he hates, he is not outgoing at all.
Also the fact that Meredith now knew he was a mage and he was a little bit at her mercy, caught in the delicate balance where the people's positive opinion of him was all that was keeping him safe from ending up in the Gallows (or worse). Things are not going well. He drinks a lot!

Life 3 & 4 for gideon and/or faron 👀
I'm gonna do both!
3. How many languages do they speak? Do they have any sort of accent?
I'm gonna do both!
Gideon: I have toyed with the idea he learned some Orlesian as a child. He definitely had all sorts of private tutors and skills his parents pushed on him. His family being really devout and the Chantry being based in Orlais, I think it makes sense for him to know some.
But he was 11 when he went to the Circle, so he's not... fluent by any means. He probably picks it back up when he starts studying Andrastian history in his adulthood. His accent is just the typical British male inquisitor accent.
Faron: Common and some Elvish! He tries to be good about the Elvish, it's something his late wife cared about preserving a lot, so after marrying her he becomes more serious about learning the grammar and speaking it more often.
His accent is different than the VA's and I haven't fully pinned it but I voice claim him a little as Nico Mirallegro who has a Manchester accent (but i know that's not Lore accurate lol since I think the Dalish have welsh accents? but it is what I picture when writing him) (example)
4. Describe their family. Who were they close to? Were there any particular childhood friends?
Gideon: Oh he has a big family lol, he is one of 6 children. He has three older brothers (one is the heir, the other two are Templars), an older sister who is a mage like him, and a younger sister who is not a mage.
He was a big Mama's Boy. Lady Trevelyan's pride and joy, the first of the brood to take after her in looks. Since magic wasn't in her line, she took this as amazing news, she was fairly certain he'd be safe from it. He was very spoiled! And also she was wrong lol
Other than that he is closest to his younger sister Ophelia, he was a very caring older brother when she was little, they played together a lot. She keeps him sane on visits home when he's still in the Circle.
Faron is still a WIP as far as parents go but he has a very complicated relationship with his sister Isera who never fully recovered from the attack that led to her daughter and Faron's wife's deaths.
So he also has a wife who is dead in his worldstate (although i plan to do a pt with her! where he is dead rip) named Janara "Jana". She was the First to Clan Lavellan, very quiet, intelligent, a big nerd about magic from all cultures.

“What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?” for faron :)
He is shoving away any and all emotion that isn't carefree, laidback contentment. More specifically, he is avoiding grief and all the feelings that bubble up with it.
As a wise Natalie Goodman from Next to Normal once said, "Everything is great, why wouldn't it be great? It's great." And pushing against that is bound to get you some disapproval.

Faron Eshalinev Galinae Lavellan
age as of dai: 35 (born 9:06 Dragon) zodiac: sagittarius height: 5'7 sexuality: bisexual alignment: chaotic neutral class: rogue dual wield - artificer
Key Relationships
isera lavellan (older sister)
harena lavellan † (niece)
janara lavellan † (late wife)
cassandra pentaghast (romance)
sera (friend)
blackwall (friend)
iron bull (friend)
Origin
Faron was born to Clan Galinae in 9:06, five years after the birth of his sister Isera. Three years after his birth, a disease swept through the already small clan, taking his and Isera's parents, as well as the Keeper and his apprentice. The clan was in no place to take on a mage child or train up a new apprentice so they pled for help at the next Arlathvhen.
Clan Lavellan took pity on the remaining members of Clan Galinae and Keeper Istimaethoriel welcomed them in with open arms.
Faron adapted to his new Clan easily, being so young. While his sister tended to distance herself or cling to him after the deaths of their parents.
He fell for Janara, the clan's First and the Keeper's daughter, in his twenties. And after some convincing of the Keeper and a long courtship full of gifts and bad poetry, the two were wed.
Around this time, his sister had a dalliance with a man she met at Arlathvhen and fell pregnant with his child. The fling fizzled out but she gave birth to a baby girl: Harena.
All was peaceful for awhile, Faron and Janara were happy and his sister seemed to enjoy motherhood and began to rely on her fellow elves for help. Finally starting to meld into Clan Lavellan.
Until a fateful day when a human mob stormed the camp. It was chaos and they were caught offguard, things had been quiet for so long even the scouts weren't on alert. In the end, Janara and Harena were dead.
Isera was inconsolable, her scream at discovering her daughter's body haunts Faron to this day. Faron was in shock, numb and clinging to his wife's memory even as he watched her burial.
They buried them both (alongside the other casualties) in the proper Dalish way, with an oaken staff and a cedar branch to ward off the ravens Fear and Deceit and a life tree planted on top.
Isera came to Faron the night after their burial and told him she'd discovered the identities of the humans who had invaded their camp and brought him her plan for revenge. He went along with her plan. Although the Keeper did not sanction their actions, she kept quiet.
The clan moved on but Isera continued her tirade against the humans, roping Faron into more local injustices that needed to be brought to rights. Every time, he went along without complaint.
This continued for years, sometimes with months of lull in between. After a long lull, Isera came to him with renewed fervor. Nightly, they would go out together, and Faron began to notice cracks in her stories. Often, these were innocents, but with his own grief left to fester, he couldn't find it in him to care. Janara and Harena were innocent too.
After a string of killings led to an uproar in a nearby town, Keeper Deshanna sat them both down. Either they could stop this altogether or they would be exiled from the clan. Isera left, Faron stayed.
He was stripped of his status as a Hunter until he could prove himself trustworthy again. At first, he accepted it modestly and began rebuilding his old friendships now that his sister was no longer in his ear. But time went on and on and he was still stuck in camp with the Hahren and the children and elderly when he'd rather be out with the Hunters. He'd taken on an unofficial apprenticeship with the clan's craftmaster, learning to shape ironwood, but he was itching to get back to his old life.
When he learned of the Conclave, he begged Keeper Deshanna to let him go, promising to stick to the shadows. He wanted nothing more than to prove himself to her and regain his hunter status.
She agreed. He went. The next thing he remembered was waking up in shackles.
Personality
Faron is the typical fun-loving, sarcastic rogue. He is extroverted, often laughing and making a fool of himself, charismatic. He tends to keep himself surrounded by people both for the familiarity of it (having lived a communal lifestyle his entire life) and because being alone brings in thoughts he'd rather avoid.
He struggles to sit still or have idle hands. He whittles things from wood often, he chews elfroot like tobacco (maybe it'll numb the pain this time), he paces, plays instruments, drums his fingers, anything to keep himself moving.
He is conflict-averse in his friendships and struggles to find the right words when someone does get emotional around him. He avoids talking about himself and doesn't open up much until he's gotten particularly close to someone and they've let themselves be vulnerable first.
When it comes to political conflict or battle strategy, he prefers the direct path. Prisoners are executed. People who cross him die. No second chances (except, for himself and his friends of course). It's very easy for him to compartmentalize people in his mind, to avoid the guilt of it all crashing down (though sometimes it fails).
In his relationships, he is the pursuer. In fact he's generally a terrible flirt. Faron is known to hit on anyone at a tavern or in the travel party or just in his vicinity. However he usually avoids it going any further than that. He becomes attached very easily.
When truly falling for someone, he'll shower them with gifts, bad music and poetry, praise and attention. It can be a bit much for some.

the night before the ‘are you flirting’ conversation, faron asks if cass wants to join him and some others at the heralds rest for drinks bc she’s out training alone and he keeps staring through the window. and hes trying to be all smooth with it (not succeeding) and she responds point blank ‘no’.
but like bc she fr doesn’t want to go to the tavern it’s not her thing. she is interested in him. but faron is like oh ok guess ill go die then, very mortified.
then the flirtation conversation and he’s like ‘ok so u want me to court you?’ and she says no AGAIN and he’s just screaming internally

the disapproval between faron and vivienne is one sided. he actually likes her and respects her a lot (he took her advice on ‘needing to be feared’ to heart) he just is so cringefail at getting her to like him.
he can’t act right at dinners when skyhold hosts nobility and looks like an idiot. he offers to pour her wine and spills it on her but it was truly an accident. when he tried to clean it up he ended up rubbing the stain in and she probably winter grasped his hand. he accidentally tinted her armor plaidweave bc an orlesian merchant convinced him it was in fashion

“You’re aware this is extremely offensive, right?”
He’s sitting, chair leaned back so the front legs are just off the floor. His booted feet propped up on her desk – her very clean, very organized desk – the paperwork that had occupied that space now pushed haphazardly into the corner. In his hand, he holds a book with a green cover depicting a heavily muscled elven man clutching a waiflike woman in his arms.
“What are you doing in here?”
He begins to read dramatically from the book in his hand: “‘She presses into his body as they stride aback the majestic halla, he kicks the beast and it surges forward, his voice a soft whisper in her ear. “Hold on, da’len.”” His hair falls into his face and he pushes a heavily ringed hand through it, shoulders shaking with laughter. “There are so many things wrong in just that paragraph.”
She blinks at him, then her mouth becomes a stern line. “Did you pick the lock on my door?”
He ignores her and presses on with his rant. “Da’len means… like, child, it’s not a very sexy thing to call someone-“
“Faron.”
“And we don’t ride the halla like a horse, that’s-“
Firmer. “Faron.”
He pauses and lowers the book. “Cassandra.”
speaking of romance novels and faron talking too much, a snippet i wrote of something a little bit ago lol
