welcome back to another episode of ‘cerid rambles on about why harvey dent is often mischaracterised and big bad harv is more than just "harvey's evil alter"’.

now, where do i even start? oh yeah, that's right... harvey's so-called "evil alter", big bad harv. harv is there for a VERY good reason and that reason being harvey's protector alter; he emerged from harvey's repressed anger, due to the concerning amount of trauma he endured as a child. his job is to ensure harvey stays away from any threats reoccurring and makes his efforts to avoid harvey from falling into the same trauma cycle he went through as a child. although most, if not all, of his plans end up in violence and aggression, harvey doesn't agree with them and is willing to support harv undergo character development. it may be subtle, but i believe harv wants to grow as a character and become level-headed just like harvey.

just like most fellow harvey fans out there, i don't agree with dc writers and the gotham rogues / dc fanbase viewing harv as just the ‘nasty, vile, one-sided douchebag who will punch you at any moment’ alter. like, you do realise did alters can undergo development, right...? alright, alright. i completely understand that did can be difficult to decipher, but that's why research is essential! research is the key to fleshing out complex characters, like harvey.

which gotham rogues are vulnerable to jonathan's fear gas/toxin, i wonder?

well, to be brutally honest with you, i believe harvey is incredibly high on that list. reasons? this boy is loaded with decades worth of trauma. for inference, he developed many fears from them; failure and betrayal being the main ones, so his chances of getting exposed to his fears (trauma if the fear gas/toxin takes advantage of him to a greater extent) and feeling overwhelmed by them are high and i mean VERY high.

gilda dent is such an amazing character and dc needs to stop messing up her storylines.

as much as my heart flutters when i come across any bruce/harvey content, i have to acknowledge that no harvey pairing will be smothered by great depression and tragedy more than harvey/gilda. they are an excellent example of how m/f pairings should be written and i stand by that fact. in my opinion, they should be the prime m/f pairing within the batman universe.

while we're still on the topic of harvey/gilda, i am disappointed but not really surprised by the general lack of gilda content there is. considering gilda is the only close relation to harvey (besides bruce) who can force tragedy out of the years worth of repression he holds and is highly responsible for his character growth, adding her in more fandom content is definitely a must.
