I love music boxes but having ones that don't state the name of the song actually ruin me. Forever subjected to having a moment decades later of oh...this sounds..familiar..... and then getting main character'd flashbacked to a music box that I had/still own and then I start bawling and no one knows why and I can't explain to them.

i'm a very don't tolerate bullshit kind of person and I respect and expect it so much when other people are real and straight up with me anyways whatever I say stems from my own thoughts and I cannot lie to you and tell you to do something I think is stupid if you ask for advice. anyways an acquaintance of mine who majored in English unless you want to work in primary school for a pay of barely 700 dollars complained how her parents want her to get a masters degree and she's thinking about getting one in marketing or something similar and then later on spreading into tech saying how she can work as a data analyst and I literally almost laughed out loud like it's absolutely insane how little university life prepares us for the future and how absolutely useless it is that you have university graduates here thinking they can work a job that requires a degree in either IT or economy as someone who read and talked about books for grades like please be so serious right now. I'm not upset with her for thinking this is possible just the general society for letting these young people down by telling them every career option is valid and it doesn't really matter what you study in university because it does

How has my week been? Well, on Wednesday I had the most disappointing critique of my life with my professor, on Thursday my dog died, on Friday a piece I’ve been working on for months broke in the kiln, and today the people who did my oil change fucked it up and my engine in my car is blown up :)

Small Salieri Cup update!

I’ve made ten of these fellas. I don’t know what possessed me but there’s ten of them now made out of W27 clay

They might look big, but I have raccoon hands and wrists the size of pipe cleaners that make things that are supposed to fit not and it’s infuriating. The cups themselves are 2.75in tall and are around 4.5in wide with a half a millimeter rim. They will shrink around 10 percent while drying and being in the kiln to around 2.5in tall and 3.87in wide. You can see that the tops are a bit curvy- but those will be fixed when my sanding materials come in.

Under the cut there is a video of these cups with me comparing them to the older one. With these, I think I’ve almost perfected my Pinch Pot cups!

The thing I like most about these are the handles. I cut on a “P” shape out of 1/4in thick slab of clay and applied them to the cup before I carved out the bottom, giving the handle that shape.

A few more things- the SIP on the bottom is a reference to Newsies and this guy called AKB. Since I started Ceramics I’ve always signed my pieces with SIP, the month completed, as well as the year. My maker’s mark comes in later this month so that will eventually change. The foot is a millimeter tall and leans closer to the handle so the cup doesn’t topple over when filled. I learned that the hard way. … also teaser for my next project
