Seventeen as different tropes
a/n : I've gotten into a book slump again so i thought might as well try something that's going to make me want to read more :)
triggers: mentions of sex or sexual content or indicates sexual behaviour
Scoups
Workplace romance especially billionaire ceo romance where he falls in love with this girl from a small town almost like a typical hallmark movie. he gives very CEO vibes especially like business proposal kang tae moo he loves showering you with love and lots and lots of gifts.
Jeonghan
Opposites attract. I think it would be so cool if jeonghan falls for someone his exact opposite who looks like a troublemaker but is actually very innocent. It would be hilarious when at first she gets blamed for a prank he pulled making him apologise with lots and lots of kisses. Also she'd be the only person with whom he won't cheat while playing games?!
Joshua
good boy x bad girl. This is the reverse of the bad boy trope and that suits him so much Joshua is a very good gentlemanly guy until he isn't and then he's this crazy person and he'd naturally be drawn to people who take risks.
Jun
childhood friends to lovers. Honestly after watching exclusive fairytale I feel this is exactly his vibe he's a shy guy so he takes time getting comfortable and since you've known him since childhood he's the most comfortable with you. The comfort of knowing someone through all their stages of life and falling for them.
Hoshi
Enemies to lovers. Hoshi is a sweetheart that everyone knows but he's amazing at teasing people aka seungkwan in gose episodes so him having an enemies to lovers relationship makes so much sense to me. Also hoshi getting angry/pissed would be HOT.
Wonwoo
Aloof couple. Everyone except the both of you know that you both are dating. Together you both are dumb and dumber. After Hoshi accidentally ends up spilling the fact that wonwoo has a crush on you You guys would finally start dating. Both of you would be so shocked to know that the other person actually liked them too.
Woozi
Fated soulmates. Now listen to me woozi is a homebody just like me and sometimes I wish the love of my life would just come to my house and announce his existence. This is exactly what happens when you go to deliver fried chicken completely drenched in the rain and he offers you to stay and dry off before leaving.
Dokyeom
brothers bestfriend. He's your brother's friend so he should be off limits to you but he's so kind so nice and so caring you can't help but fall in love. He doesn't notice you until one day you drunk confess and then suddenly you're all that he can think about.
a/n: very much like the male lead in hidden love (c-drama)
Mingyu
reverse grumpy x sunshine. Oh he falls for the slightly broody introverted nerd. They literally collided into each other when Wonwoo dragged him to this one book convention. He was jealous of how close Wonwoo and you were. Which led to him confessing and you both dating. He absolutely adores the fact that your cute silly side is reserved only for him.
Minghao
hopeless romantic x skeptic Minghao was that person who did not believe in love at first sight cause how do you fall in love without knowing anyone that is until you walked into his life and caused him to fall literally for you. You loved this fact as you were a big romantic person. You'd often watch rom coms together and have discussions on the characters for hours.
Seungkwan
Academic rivals. YES YES YES
the banter would be off the charts. He'd be full on sassy boo who loves winning and y/n would be the same. They'd fight argue and insult each other but would be forced into spending time together and boom he's pinned you to the wall.
Vernon
Second chance. Yes the angst the pain the hurt the NOSTALGIA. everything vernon runs into you in seoul one day and it's decided that he wants you back bonus points if you have a child that he babysits and that child comes to adore him.
a/n: i think I have to cry vernon with kids would be so funny and cute and I WILL CRY
Dino
a/n: i absolutely adore these I lowkey might make all of these into longer fics.
best friends turned enemies turned lovers. the chemistry would be fire you'd both participate in a dance competition as kids but at the last moment you ditched him to dance with your crush years later you both hate each other and it gets worse when you are one of the background dancers in seventeen's world tour.
i made a longer version for dino- here

Hit me with your best loser boyfriends who support their gfs through and through like sunjae from lovely runner or ji hyuk from marry my husband
Himbos and Beta Males for the WIN!
K-dramas with super sweet, totally dedicated and maybe not the most intellectual of men.
When The Camellia Blooms (Honestly this drama was underrated! The couple is adorable but it's also a really really great drama!)
Dali And The Cocky Prince (I'm actually rewatching this one as we speak. The villains are super annoying but what else is new. Moo Hak LOVES Dali and basically would follow her to the ends of the earth trying to understand art and failing lol. )
Dreaming of a Freaking Fairytale (this short little drama is airing now and literally no one is watching it. It starts off a bit iffy but overall it's super fun. The lead is a literal unhinged idiot who is in love with the FL but cannot admit it. He'll do anything for her and is constantly trying to rescue her but also....So SO Very Cute And Dumb.)
Boys Be Brave! (this bl features maybe one of the cutest himbos ever. This poor sweet kid will do anything to get the attention of the boy he likes (including a tattoo) and he's not even sure he likes him? This drama was great at the beginning and just ok at the end but the couple was very cute.
Run On (we all know I LOVE this drama!!! The second ML is my bias wrecker for this role. He's a happy go lucky, super funny and cute softy who falls for a CEO and never lets up.)
Extraordinary Attorney Woo (see a theme?? KANG TAE OH! He's not a himbo tho cause he's very smart. Whatever he belongs in this list!!)
Shopping King Louie (One of the favorite k-dramas, a spoiled rich kid with amnesia moves into a small apartment with the only person who can take care of him. SOOOOOO CUTE.)
The Happy Loner (this short little k-drama featuring a little puppy boy was actually really really great! It's only 2 episodes so I don't need to say the plot, you can just watch it! ;-)
Hogu's Love: (Another one of my favorites, Hogu is literally the cutest softest bean just trying to make it in the world and help his love take care of her baby.)
King The Land (I don't think Junho's character is dumb at work but he's really very dumb with love so it's excellent to see the chemistry. Also, people complained that there wasn't much plot but if you want a sweet and funny rom com with TONS of skinship, kisses and a man who wants to quit his job to help his girlfriend...this is it.)
He is Pyschometric (a poor babygirl who has psychic powers and falls for a cop. I really loved this drama even tho I'm mad about One Thing.)
Fight for My Way (This himbo isn't obsessed with the FL until he realizes his feelings but after that? GAME OVER)
Extraordinary You (We all know the leads are OTP for me. Haru is recognized by Eun Dan Oh and follows her everywhere. He's soft and quiet and is he smart??? Unclear :P)
Enjoy the SOFT!

Casting Svt as Characters in KDramas I’ve Watched
Masterlist || Taglist Form
Words: Around 900
Category: Fluff I guess
A/n: If you disagree w any of these, I’m always open for healthy discussion
Disclaimers:
a) A lot of these shows I watched a while ago so if any character descriptions are inaccurate, please drag me it’s okay.
b) Some characters are, of course, very different in age than the members but just go on the emotions, will ya?
c) Character descriptions are kept vague on purpose because I don’t want to give spoilers. Also, if I’ve given any major spoilers unintentionally, I apologise.
d) Spellings of Character names are from Wikipedia, so if you find any inaccuracies, pls lmk
Taglist: @junhui-recs @drunk-on-dk @wonuhour @enhacolor
Fic specific tags: @wonwussy @bitchlessdino hope you guys like it!
1. Choi Seungcheol as Lee Young-Joon in What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim
The strong male character with childhood trauma who doesn’t know what to do with his feelings once he realises the love of his life, whom he had never confessed to, is leaving him screams Seungcheol to me. He’s awkward with his feelings, reacts poorly when hearing the news, is a true leader who silently burdens not only his trauma, but also his brother’s.
2. Yoon Jeonghan as Park Chang-ho in Big Mouth
I think, of all the people in the world who can deceive a prison full of inmates that they’re a criminal mastermind and you shouldn’t mess with them, no one else would compare to Jeonghan. The professional lawyer, who is framed and sent to prison, is a good person at heart, and helps other suppressed inmates and leads a revolution. Jeonghan is particularly quick to think on his feet, which matches the character’s energy.
3. Hong Joshua as Kang Tae- Moo in Business Proposal
A cold CEO who is super averse to dating and and is busy running his business meets and instantly falls in love with a girl who is posing as her friend on this blind date to get rid of him. He is devoted to his family, his passion for his company’s food products is only matched by our heroine. He’s a great cook and is also kind of nosy in his little brother’s love life.
4. Wen Junhui as An Min-Hyuk in Strong Girl Bong Soon
The cute, funny gaming company CEO who hires our Bong Soon as a bodyguard just screams Jun to me, both because of his passion for games and gaming development but also for his endearingly cute and shy demeanour and the sense of humour. Plus actor Jun deserves a fun, cool and handsome role like this, considering we might never get to see his c drama :((
5. Kwon Soonyoung as Jung Joon-hyung in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo
Ok so this is the latest drama I’ve watched and Joonhyung’s passion and commitment for swimming instantly reminded me of Hoshi and his passion for dance. A bonus factor is the fact that after seeing In the Soop S2, I can confirm his….ahem…abdominal area can easily pass for a swimmer’s.
6. Jeon Wonwoo as Cha Sung-hoon in Business Proposal
Yeah I don’t think I need to explain this.
7. Lee Jihoon as Wi Seung-Huen in Rookie Cops
I’m sorry but Woozi as a trainee cop along with an initial e2f2l storyline???? Sign me uppppppp… Plus, this character is like the ace trainee along with having daddy issues and a strong sense of morality that builds over time. Just writing this is making me crave a Woozi remake of this show.
8. Xu Minghao as Myul Mang in Doom at Your Service
Minghao, I think, is the best person in the world who can bring doom to the world while looking fucking stylish and having an angsty emo personality. Fuck the humans, what even do they have. Xu minghao is literally here to end us all. Plus the later developments in the show and the emotions this characters develops….I’ll cry watching if Minghao was Myul Mang. Also, I feel like Minghao is the most supernaturally member in Svt- you know the one who is into Tarot cards and palm readings.
9. Kim Mingyu as Ji U-Min in The Fabulous
Ngl, the Going Magazine episode was a big factor while giving Mingyu this character. This super talented fashion and street photographer, who sometimes struggles to find his aim and is stuck in the friend zone after breaking up with the female lead is such Gyu vibe honestly. This man is so supportive, encouraging…and might I say relentless?
10. Lee Seokmin as Baek Hee- Sung in Flower of Evil
The beauty of Dark! Seokmin is something to behold, a fantasy I will never give up on. A bright, perfect husband in every sense of the way on the surface with a dark past and even darker present….. is….so…..hot. And his wife is a police officer? Yup yup add it to the drama. Mars’ serial killer DK fic has arisen a fantasy in me that i don’t think is going away anytime soon. Plus I’m a sucker for complicated, grey characters whose layers are revealed slowly as the series progresses. He’s almost an anti- hero here.
11. Boo Seungkwan as Lee Seung-cheon in The Golden Spoon
Another grey character, probably the most complicated character on this list. I think, for me, our Boo is also the most emotionally complex and mature guy in seventeen so I think this character really suits him. Our lead guy, is born into poverty but changes his luck, along with his family’s, by switching lives with the richest guy in his school. Complications, along with consequences, haunt him.
12. Chwe Hansol as Goo Chang-seong in Hotel Del Luna
I’m sorry but Vernon as this character??? In great looking suits and constantly in service of ghosts to help them finish their last wishes and peacefully transition to afterlife along with having… probably the most emotional love story ever…..yeah I need a minute, or a week.
13. Lee Chan as Kim Do-ki in Taxi Driver
Taxi driver is probably my favourite kdrama till date. And Dino as the sexy vigilante who takes revenge for people who the system can’t help is such a sexy concept. Action hero Dino to the rescue! Plus the main character plays so many roles undercover and is so hilarious at times that Dino will fit perfectly in this character’s shoes.

Business Proposal
Finished Watching: 4/27/2024
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
Rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 (4/5)
Expectations: I usually don't like KDramas, but I really wanted to watch one for some reason. I thought I would drop it by the 3rd or 4th episode like I do for most dramas, and I especially didn't expect myself to grow attached to the storyline or characters in any way.
Favorite
Summary: Shin Ha-Ri, a normal researcher at a food company, disguises as her friend to help scare her blind date away. But everything goes awry when it turns out that date is with the CEO of her company... and he proposes on the first date.
Thoughts (*SPOILERS*):
Ok, I really didn't expect to like this one at all. I usually find K-Dramas to be super cringey like Bollywood movies. And don't get me wrong, this one did have its moments. But otherwise, I freaking loved this one so much!
This drama was one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. When she called him an Archaeopteryx, I think I about lost my mind T.T I couldn't stop laughing! Though he seems like a cool character, I enjoyed seeing Tae-Moo lose his cool every once in a while. Omg, Ha-Ri is just a jackpot of comedy, this girl could not keep her cool and it killed me! I could not stop laughing for the majority of it, it brings a smile to my face just thinking about it.
The characters of the show were so lovable! It was hard not to love Ha-Ri, in my opinion. She was just so sweet and had a good head on her shoulders, you can't hate her. Her mistakes were funny asl, and I can't really be mad at her (I, too, would do anything for a check). Kang Tae-Moo was too sweet, and honestly so lost for the most part, I couldn't help but love him. The side characters??? DON'T GET ME STARTED I LOVE THEM T.T. Jin Young-Seo and Cha Sung-Hoon were honestly the biggest ride or dies, yet they were also able to have personalities outside of being friends. Their storyline got me so hyped up! And the coworkers?!! (I forgot their names, but they provided so much comedy to this show, I would not mind a spin-off about them)
I usually hate it when characters just start getting paired off, it just pisses me off. But not for this drama. I could tell when the characters were going to get together, and I appreciated it. The coworkers (seriously, what were their names?!) just had this chemistry that I knew they were going to be dating by the second episode they were in. The main couple was nothing short of amazing (if I had one complaint, Tae-Soo stopped being as stubborn, which kind of upset me a bit, because his whole personality was being a hardass, and I usually hate the trope of love completely changing a person, idk why). And the friends side couple made me crave a relationship (I know it's not happening anytime soon, but damn, I can dream), with the constant push and pull.
I was able to finish this show in 2 days, and I am currently running off 2 hours of sleep because I stayed up watching this show instead of getting sleep like I was supposed to. It might be due to tiredness, but I wasn't able to focus on the last couple of episodes of the show, which did upset me. Hopefully, in a couple years time I can watch the show's ending again with a clearer head, but until then, I kind of lost interest during the last 2 episodes.

skz x "what kdrama character do i look like?": kim seungmin
"are you still watching that kdrama?" asked seungmin passing by. you were lying in bed, watching "Business proposal"on your laptop, while he was getting ready to join you in bed.
" yes, it has been really interesting!" you answered without taking your eyes of the screen.
"i have a question" he asked from the kitchen. his voice was mumbling and you barely heard him. you even hand to tap space button so you could stop the episode.
"sure, baby" you shouted louder, so he could hear you in the kitchen.
"what kdrama character do i look like?" seungmin glimpsed behind the kitchen door, his hair was a bit wet and slightly parted on the left.
"let me think" you stopped the episode again and looked at him.
"need to pay attention to my handsome face?" he asked, acting fabulous and invincible. you nodded, looking at him. seungmin's boasting session was interrrupted by the sound of the microvave." just a moment, i will be back!"
seungmin came back to you and laid down on the sofa with the plate of food.
"you actually look like kang tae moo!" you said, sitting closer and looking at his food. you've been hungry but you didn't say anything when seungmin offered to grab something for you.
"who is kang tae moo?" he asked watching you closely and moving the plate away.
"this guy from the kdrama I am watching now." you looked at him and smiled. your hand reached to the plate to have a piece of french fries. seungmin moved the hand with the plate away.
"is he cool?" seungmin asked when you were almost breathing on his face. you suddently realized how far you've been reaching out. you looked at him and he looked at your lips, smiliing cutely. it was nice to tease you. " baby, are you hungry? but you've told me that you are not."
"well, he's a badass ceo." you leaned back and sat next to seungmin. your face slightly turned red and you felt like your stomach started to make sounds. seungmin watched you, with soft chuckle on his face.
"okay, i like it. show me." seungmin laughed and placed the plate on your laps, so you could have a bite. he was always like that. always cared.

Business proposal
Genre: Romantic comedy
Episodes: 12
Starring: Ahn Hyo-Seop, Kim Se-Jeog, Kim Min-Kyu, Seol In-A
Synopsis: Ha-Ri is a young woman working in a bic company. One day, her friend Young-Seo ask Ha-ri to take her place in a blind date and even offers some money for her time. Ha-Ri accepts her friend's offer. She goes out on the blind date as Young-Seo, while having the intention to get rejected by her date. Suprisingly, her blind date is Kang Tae-Moo - the CEO of the company where she works. Tae-Moo is a workaholic and he is annoyed that his grandfather sets up blind dates for him. He decides to marry the next woman whom he meets at a blind date, so he won't be disturbed from his work anymore.
Positives: It entertaining, not very deep, so ideal if you look for something uncomplicated to watch. The actors are all very nice and have quite a good chemistry between each other. Tae-Moo is quite cute if he switch off the "big alfa CEO" mode and act just like a normal young man.
Negatives: It little bit cheesy, for some reason I wasn a big fan of the main heroine. Her friend Young-Seo was much more charismatic.
Conclusion: It's fun. You will love it if you like fake dating and cinderella tropes.
Action: 3/10 Romance: 8/10 Intriques: 5/10 Blood: 1/10 Whump: 3/10 Friendship: 6/10 Emotions: 6/10 Humor: 6/10

Business Proposal (2022)
The first few episodes of this are funny, especially if you're familiar with the tropes the writers are making fun of. But I couldn't quite finish this...
This is very similar to Backstreet Rookie, which had its ups and downs but I mostly enjoyed. Both are based on a web comic. Both take advantage of some of the trends in dramas to have a little fun.
But Backstreet Rookie, never really lets up on the campiness of it all, and Business Proposal does. I think around episode 7 (of 12) is where it lost it for me. The CEO (Kang Tae-moo) has finally figured out the lead character (Shin Ha-ri's) secret identity, and he's mad about it in episode 6.
Then just before episode 7, he forgives her (kind of) and tries to figure out how to make the relationship work. This feels like a fake / first world problem that men fantasize about but rarely have to deal with.
Meanwhile, on planet Earth, Ha-ri has figured out that dating your boss's boss's boss is a bad idea and is trying to salvage her professional career. And this feels like a real problem many women have to deal with and it's not funny. These two problems are not the same.
I don't know how the web comic resolved it. I don't really know how the TV show tried to resolve it. At this point, it felt like they were just going the wrong direction somehow and I just stopped watching. I wasn't mad or anything, it just felt like something that threw me off enough that I couldn't keep going.

"Njir kang tae moo nyata inimah ganteng bner mas ucupp[sic!]," tulis seorang warganet. "Bjirrr aura kang Tae Moonya melekat sekali[sic!]," tambah yang lain. "Mantep wak dramanya jd kayak manifesting dia di masa depan[sic!]," sahut warganet lainnya.
"Cocok bgt pake suit gitu makin mirip kang tae moo[sic!]," imbuh lainnya. "Aura Kang Taemoo nya menyala bgt[sic!]," lanjut warganet lain. "Bukan hyoseop ini, tapi Kang Tae moo. Bjir ganteng banget lagi, auto pingsan[sic!]," pungkas warganet lainnya.

— fever, fervor
tae-moo x gn!reader | 2.5k words
genre: childhood friends/exes to -> mutual pining
warnings: swearing, fainting, blood, reader is part of a big and well known company (reader is rich lol), kissing, implied suggestive themes (at the end!!!), injuries, sickness, jealousy
synopsis: kang taemoo was not someone you wanted to meet again. not after breaking up with him in high school. so you're surprised to bump into him again years later, and to get nursed back to health by the man.
author’s note: i like him! *looks behind him* but i do like his gf’s brother and his secretary even more /hj anyways i’m only two eps in for a business proposal so!!! ooc taemoo probably im trying my best thank u
You blew out air with puffed cheeks repeatedly as you jogged (limped) your way down the hotel. You had to meet someone at the restaurant there and you had to get there fast— Being almost a minute late (a minute early) to the appointed time.
You were supposed to meet the soon-to-be CEO of a company your company had a lot of ties with. And as the heir of your family’s company, you had duties. Such as meeting with people like these to make sure things would remain calm and safe and rich even when the previous boss would step down. You couldn’t risk losing profits due to a simple change in CEOs. Or so your parents said.
You really didn’t care. But punctuality was crucial and you were lacking it right now, really badly. You could blame the traffic on your way to the hotel, or your terribly painful, pounding headache from drinking too much with your best friend the day before or the injury you had got on your ankle while running down the stairs of your workplace a few days ago but it would just be embarrassing. No excuses, just be on time— That’s what you grew up with.
So you ran up the stairs to the restaurant, ankle slightly tilting every now and then in your fancy, so-clear-and-washed-that-they-could-serve-as-a-mirror dress shoes. You were careful, really. You didn’t want to risk worsening your injury or getting a new one, so of course you were careful!
So it was not your fault that some man and yourself bumped into eachother at the end of the stairs, almost making you fall backwards had it not been for his quick reflex to grab your wrist. Yet after pulling you back with a bit too much force and causing you to stumble forward and straight into a pillar due to his reflex to move away, he looked at you like you were the one at fault.
Your head pounded harder, now. Your nose was aching from the hit into the wall and your headache worsened. You felt like everything was spinning and your legs felt weak. You furrowed your eyebrows at the man who looked at you with what seemed like annoyance and huffed.
“Kang Taemoo?” you breathed out, brows furrowed in confusion, “Of all people?”
“That’s not what an apology sounds like.” he said.
Yup. Kang Taemoo for sure. With that attitude, it could only be him. Just the same as ten years ago.
“You made me drop my book.” he said, looking at you with furrowed eyebrows. You huffed a bit, having been running to your class, a little bit late.
“And you walked straight into me because you weren’t looking.” you retorted, scoffing, “Sorry.”
He held up the opened book with one hand. “The pages are creased. You owe me 10,000 won.”
Kang Taemoo was none other than your ex from high school. You broke off because you were both too busy, and with both your characters, ended up on a slightly petty note. You didn't hate each other, but that didn't hold back the sarcastic, annoyed remarks you'd send to each other each time your families' companies held meetings together. Much to their dismay.
You knew your families would've preferred if you got married, even.
You breathed out through your nose and took a deep breath, before nodding a bit hazily. “An apology, of course. I should be surprised you’re not asking me for thanks, but I’m not. I have no reason to…” your breaths grew heavy at each word that left your mouth, and the world darkened each time you took a second too long to blink it away. You huffed out air through puffed cheeks before swallowing thickly, “… Apologize… To you…”
You felt arms catch you before you felt yourself faint.
Now, of course you felt how dizzy everything was, how lightheaded you felt, how darkened your vision grew, how weak your limbs felt. But the panic couldn’t fully settle in when someone caught you before you could even touch the ground.
You blinked hazily. Then you furrowed your eyebrows. “Taemoo, why...”
He pursed his lips into a thin line and you seriously started to wonder what you had done to make him seem like you owed him an apology of sorts. Then your hand came up to your face, the back of it moving to cover your eyes from the blinding lights of the restaurant, when your thumb touched something wet on your upper lip.
You pulled you hand back and suddenly felt very conscious, jumping up from Taemoo’s hold and onto your knees. “Blood. Did I get a nosebleed?” you scoffed to yourself, but then regretted moving so fast, head lolling backwards a bit before you caught yourself on the nearest wall.
Behind you, Taemoo got up and dusted off in his clothes, before pulling at a part of his pristine white shirt and scowling. “Indeed. You owe me 80,000 won.”
You turned around, eyes half-lidded and expression astounded. “Excuse me?”
Only then did you catch sight of the red, unmistakable drop of blood on the man’s shirt. It seemed like he was avoiding contact with your face and his shirt, even. Did he dislike blood that much? You scoffed, a lazy smile on your lips. “I’ll get it washed. I’m not buying you a new shirt.”
He crossed his arms, expression displeased as he walked towards you. You could only look up at him, a bit helpless and still extremely dizzy. And with blood on your face. You blinked slowly, and then looked behind him. Your eyes widened and you pulled Taemoo closer by his legs.
"W-What are you doing?" he exclaimed, trying to step back. He looked over his shoulder and sighed in despair. "I don't know who or what you're trying to hide from, but people are going to get the... wrong idea if you stay like this— Just, get up."
You peeked behind him, watching the man you were supposed to meet walk over to the table you were supposed to be sitting at right now. You hissed and grimaced in annoyance, before leaning your forehead on Taemoo's knee and banging it on his knee. "Argh, seriously. Of all times... Of all times, he just... Oh, fuck."
You suddenly scrambled to get up, finally registering what he had just told you and profusely bowing your head. "Sorry. Sorry, seriously. Didn't think about that."
He sighed, waving in dismissal. "Let's go get a room."
"What?!" you yelled, before clearing your throat and lowering your voice, "What?"
Huh? What was he suggesting? This couldn't possibly be what you thought.
It was, in fact, not what you thought.
You sat on the counter of the hotel bedroom's bathroom as Taemoo carefully dabbed and rubbed on the blood on your face, seemingly very focused on his task. You, on the other hand, couldn't get your focus off how close his face would get every time he cleaned the blood off. He nodded to himself after a little while. "The blood from your nosebleed is gone, and I bandaged the area that looked injured on your face. Are you hurt anywhere else?"
You shook your head no, gently because either way you'd feel dizzy again. "No."
"Good."
He held his hand out for you and you instinctively took it, stepping down from the counter and trying not to put pressure on your injured ankle.
Again, why was he so much like when you were younger?
“You really couldn’t look up from your phone for a second?” he sighed, dabbing the disinfectant-filled cotton on your wounds. You winced and he shot you a glare, “Now you only have yourself to blame for running straight into that pole.”
“This isn’t nice.” you complained, sighing, “Stop being so mean, Taemoo.”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” he raised his eyebrows, eyes still trained on a cut on your cheekbone, “You’re getting rightfully scolded. Deal with it.”
You jutted out your bottom lip and Taemoo glanced down at it, before doing a double take and sighing. He put his hands on his hips and took a step back, looking at you with a look of disbelief, scoffing and shaking his head in disapproval. "You even got your lip injured. I can't believe this."
You touched it and winced, seeing the blood on the pad of your finger. The boy walked back closer to you and went to disinfect it, but you moved back, shaking your head no. He quirked an eyebrow.
"What? Scared of a little sting on your lip?"
"No." you scoffed, "Shut up."
He looked at you weirdly. Or well, not weirdly. But more so... Differently. You'd never seen him look at you, or anyone else, really, that way. You couldn't decipher what that look meant.
He put both his hands on the table of the storage room you two were currently in (after you insisting that if the nurse took care of you she'd scold you tons and it would be annoying, and instead going to the storage room and taking the spare first-aid-kit that was there, hidden by Taemoo himself after you got injured one too many times and refused to go see the nurse that you claimed was "just mean", so he could take care of you instead) and leaned forward. You couldn't exactly back away more than you already had, and you weren't sure if you wanted to. With his face this close to yours, you weren't sure if you didn't want to close the distance instead.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Then prove it."
"Just--" you scoffed, looking away. He was really making it hard. "Shut up."
"Make me."
You looked him in the eye, and he smirked. Oh, now that was it.
You leaned forward and pressed your lips against his, eyes shut tightly and fingers grasping at the table in fear of his reaction. But he kissed you back, tilting his head and smiling when you winced at the contact against your wound. He pulled back. "So I was right."
You scoffed. This bastard. He held out his hand for you to take and you did, stepping off the table.
Why did Kang Taemoo have to act the same way he used to? You exhaled and tried to focus as he walked you back to the room, before sitting you down on the bed. You hated how caring he was-- Taking care of your injuries, making sure you didn't get hurt any further. It reminded you too much of the times you were still together. It was infuriating.
"You okay?" he asked in the same monotonous voice he always used. You nodded and he heaved a sigh, "Don't think I'm doing this for you. I'm hiding, too."
"Hiding?" you repeated incredulously, "From?"
"Tell me first. Why were you hiding from that man? Were you on a date?"
You scoffed. "That doesn't concern you. We're not dating." anymore, you thought, "What about you?"
Taemoo crossed his arms and looked down, nodding a bit, before looking back up at you. "I was going on a blind date tonight." he said honestly. You didn't like the pang of jealousy you felt in your chest because you two weren't together anymore, and if you hadn't seen him right then, you would've probably spent more years not seeing each other and it would've been fine. But of course, he had to bump into your life again. And the problem with Kang Taemoo was that despite all your efforts, often successful, at dating other people after your break-up, he could always manage to ruin everything. He came back, with that irritating, cold, handsome face and character of his, and ruined everything.
"Then go. Why are you hiding?"
"I don't look presentable."
You looked up, and looked him up and down, before scoffing. "That's one drop of blood, Taemoo. Seriously. It's fine."
"And also, I had to take care of something important, and I'm sure whoever that girl I was supposed to meet is wouldn't have liked to see it on our very first date." he added on, walking closer to the edge of the bed, "There. I was honest. Now tell me; were you on a date?"
You looked away, tilting your head. "Depends. Would it get a rise out of you if I said yes? Or is there no point in lying about it?"
He scoffed, laughing in disbelief, before swiping his tongue over his lower lip.
"Why do you want to make me angry? You really haven't changed." he stated, smiling. You chuckled a bit.
"I could say the same."
His knee dropped on the mattress, right next to your legs, and he looked down at you. He still had his hands in his pockets, as casual as ever. You gulped a little and he smiled furthermore.
"Why?"
"You just." you stopped, looking away momentarily and shaking your head, before looking back at him, who was getting closer. "Still are arrogant. Hold on, my head, uh, is spinning."
"Lay down."
"What?"
He nodded towards the mattress. "You're on a bed. Lay down."
You froze, blinking at him. He sighed after a few seconds and gently pushed your shoulder so your back hit the mattress. He hovered over you and your eyes widened, but he only put his hand on your forehead. "Relax." he said, catching you off guard, "You look a second away from hyper-ventilating. I'm just checking your temperature. You didn't look too well even when you were walking up those stairs."
"And you care?"
He compared the temperature to the one on his own forehead. "Why wouldn't I?" he asked, face unchanging. You stared at him as a slight crease formed between his eyebrows, and he compared your temperatures again. He had such a pretty face. You hated it. You couldn't stand him.
"I can't stand you." you said without thinking, and you knew your tone betrayed your words, sounding way too dazed and gentle. You could blame it on the dizzinness.
"Good thing you're laying down, then." he concluded, pushing himself back up. Your hand grabbed his shirt before you could really think about it and he stopped, arm stretched and palm pressed right next to you. He raised his eyebrows. "What is it?"
You swiped your thumb over your lip and held back a wince, before showing the blood to him.
"I don't mind a little sting on my lip." you said. He chuckled quietly, looking at it then at you.
"So? Want me to disinfect it?"
"Kiss me, Taemoo."
Maybe you wouldn't have been bold enough to declare what you really felt if you weren't running a slight fever. But as it happened, this fever proved to be good. Because Taemoo kissed you, just as you asked, pressing his lips against yours softly and sweetly. And longer than the first time you shared a kiss.
And maybe your temperature was high, but you were certain it was the air around that was just hot when you sat up to unbutton his shirt and he pulled your jacket off your shoulders.
Your prior engagements and his date were long forgotten, needless to say.

My Favorite Non-Fantasy Rom-Com K-Dramas
This may be my hardest list to compile since I tend to prefer my K-Dramas with some fantasy elements to them. What can I say? It helps with the escapism.
The dramas featured on this basically can’t have any fantasy or sci-fi elements (I’ll give leeway for fictional regions though). Basically, no time travel, robots/ai, magic, universe hopping, ghosts, Gumiho, vampires, etc.
Business Proposal
I’m starting off with a K-Drama from this year that I fell in love with! It’s on Netflix and it’s 100% worth the watch, it’s also got great re-watch-ability!
This is about Kang Tae-moo who, in order to appease his grandfather, agreed to go on a blind date. He was supposed to meet Ha-ri's best friend, Yeoung-seo, but she enlists Ha-ri to scare him away (like all of her other blind dates). On the blind date, she is shocked to discover that the guy her best friend was supposed to see is the CEO of the company that she works. Despite her best efforts to chase him away and even after being exposed as not Yeong-so (though she still doesn't reveal who she really is), he decides that she's perfect to play the role of his girlfriend so as to stop his grandfather from setting him up on blind dates.
This is a hilarious drama with plenty of romantic fluff. It's basically a rich guy-poor girl romance, both the main lead couple and the second lead couple will deliver plenty of laughs and romantic fluff. This is pretty much just a wonderful light-hearted romp with wholesome friendships between the individuals in both couples.
Shopping King Louie (aka Shopaholic Louis)
I really wasn’t kidding when I said that I'll always recommend this show. This drama is a very light-hearted show that's just heart-warming. Really, my only complaint is the love triangle that they tried to shoehorn in, but honestly it seems like most things have love triangles.
Anyway, this is a super adorable and sweet show about a 3rd gen. chaebol heir who is super sheltered and ends up being thrown into the “real world” with amnesia while going to visit his grandmother in Korea. He’s taken under the wing of Bok-shil who is in Seoul in search of her younger brother Bok-nam as she finds Louie wearing her brother’s clothes and thinks that somewhere in his forgotten memories he'll have clues to help her find Bok-nam.
This show is just pure romantic fluff that’ll have you smiling and feeling soft. Louie is a loyal and protective puppy to Bok-shil and she’s a saint, their friendship and romance is just so soft and wholesome. This show also has a great OST (in my opinion) and I loved the song choices that they made (especially when it came to the ones that were used as episode titles).
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo
This is a cute sports related drama where both leads are in some sport. The male lead is a swimmer and Bok-joo is…well a weightlifter. This drama has two of my favorite tropes, being “met as kids” and “friends to lovers.”
There’s a wholesome friendship between the romantic leads, with them being really supportive of one another. There’s also the great friendship between Bok-joo and her friends.
Even if you’re a person doesn’t really like sports related stuff (like me), this show is still 100% worth watching! It’s really hilarious, cute and heartwarming ❤️
My Strange Hero
This is a K-Drama about a young adult going back to the private high school that he was expelled from due to allegations of bullying (which he wasn’t guilty of). He’s there planning to bring down the school’s corruption and enact a good-guy kind of revenge. There, he meets his high school crush who is now his teacher.
I’ll admit that I was hesitant to watch this for a long time because I do not like romances between student + teacher. That being said, this didn’t feel wrong because they were both adults and it was handled well (in my opinion).
This drama is funny, heart-warming, inspiring (to me, as someone who wants to be a teacher) and cute.
Café Minamdang
Another Seo In-guk drama and a recent one at that! I almost said “I’m honestly not sure if this really qualifies as a realistic kdrama” and then I remembered that this list is only meant for non-fantasy/sci-fi dramas and realism isn't relevant at all, so this counts!
This drama is based on a webtoon (which I haven’t read). It’s about a profiler turned con-man/shaman named Nam Han-jun who is trying to find and catch the elusive serial killer known as “Gopuri.” He works alongside another friend of his who also used to work in law enforcement as well as Han-jun’s younger sister who used to work for a government intelligence agency of some kind. Originally working apart from law enforcement, Nam Han-jun and his squad end up working with law enforcement and Han-jun end ups falling in love with the female detective, Jae-hui, for whom the case is also personal to.
I personally enjoyed this show, I found it to be absolutely hilarious and I checked Netflix religiously to watch the next episode when it was airing (it's fully released now though, so you don't have to wait to watch the next episode). I don’t know what others thought of it and I honestly don’t care because this is my list and I can recommend what I want. I’d personally recommend it if you like your rom-coms with some thriller or mystery elements! I’d also recommend it if, like me, you like Seo In-guk! He was the reason why I wanted to watch it in the first place and he didn’t disappoint!
True Beauty
Another high school-set drama makes it on this list. I honestly wasn’t sure if I’d like this show, I was worried that it wouldn’t live up to the hype, but it definitely does!
This K-Drama is also based on a webtoon and it’s basically about a girl who changes schools due to being mercilessly bullied due to her looks (specifically her bad acne). Before changing schools, she turns to online makeup tutorials and eventually become good enough to be happy with how she looks. Once at new school she makes good friends and ends up in a love triangle.
This drama has some of my favorite tropes in it and it’s the first drama to ever give me “second-lead syndrome.” It is cute, hilarious and fun to watch (it also has a great cameo scene with the characters from Extra-ordinary You). This show has some of my favorite tropes in it, but saying which ones would spoil it, so I won’t say! I would definitely recommend this if you happen to like school dramas or if you think you’re even marginally interested in watching it!
Romance Is A Bonus Book
You’ll probably see me recommend this a fair amount, which is strange because I honestly never thought that I’d end up watching this show in the first place. This is because I don’t typically watch what are known as “noona romances” (for those who don’t know, these are shows in which the romance is between an older woman and a younger male). This show definitely sold me though! If you want to dip your toes into Noona Romances, I would say that this is a good place to start as the romance between the leads is soft and cute and the age gap is only about 5 years I think? Don’t quote me on this though lol
This drama is about Kang Dan-i who has been divorced for a year and supporting her only child, she's essentially homeless and struggling to find work. She's been hiding her divorce and struggles from her best friend since childhood, Eun-ho, and has been working as his maid/housekeeper (though he doesn't know it). She eventually decides to lie about her education level in order to get a temp. job at the publishing house that Eun-ho works at.
This drama features some of my favorite tropes, such as "met as kids" and "friends to lovers." I really loved the relationship between Eun-ho and Dan-i, especially the way in which they're super supportive of each other and are always cheering each other on. ❤️
This is a heart-warming drama that will leave you feeling warm and cozy. I often compare it to curling up with a good book and I will stand by that analogy (even though I definitely need to find new/different ways of phrasing it).
The King’s Affection
The first and only historical drama you’ll be seeing on this list because I’ve only seen 2 and the other one has fantasy/sci-fi elements because it involves time travel. For full disclosure, I actually haven’t finished this show yet. ^^; I’m currently on ep.15 of 20 though, so I’m getting there!
This drama is a gender-bent drama in which the female lead, Dam-yi has to assume her twin brother’s identity and role as the crown prince after he is killed in a case of mistaken identity (that identity being her own). Due to this, she becomes guarded and out of necessity ends up distancing herself from others within the kingdom/palace who do not already know her secret. Despite this, she ends up falling in love (again) with her 1st love who is now her teacher, Ji-un.
This drama is more high-stakes than most other dramas that I watch. This is definitely something that I’d recommend to anyone who likes more drama in their K-Dramas as it has government and royal family “shenanigans” (murder, espionage, bids for power, etc.). Amidst all of this though, the main leads have plenty of cute, sweet moments. I especially love the role reversal in this drama, particularly with Ji-un being in the stereotypical female romantic scenarios (ex. tripping and being caught by the male lead, except in this show’s case it’s the female lead!)
This is only the 2nd gender-bender drama that I’ve seen and I definitely “rate” it higher than Coffee Prince for a couple reasons, not the least of which being the fact that Ji-un handles the reveal infinitely better than the male lead in Coffee Prince. Basically, Ji-un is a good bi/pan boy and I stan him not caring either way about the gender of the person he loves because he just loves who they are as a person. ❤️ I stan this and I need more of this!! ❤️
Semantic Error
This a cute BL drama and sadly the only one on this list as I haven’t gotten to explore the genre very far yet.
This is a cute, short drama based on a webtoon of the same name. I’m not kidding when I say this is short, it’s about 3 hours long altogether, you could finish this in less than a day!
The premise of the show is that Sang Woo, a computer science major and very logical individual who is by-the-book, is part of a group project for one of his classes. The other members bail or don’t contribute and he decides to remove their names from the project and present alone, leaving them to get bad grades. One of these students is senior Jae Young, a design major. Due to what happened, he has to do another semester before transferring. Jae Young is on a mission to find Sang Woo and get revenge/payback and ends up discovering that Sang Woo is looking for a design artist to help him make a game, so the two end up working together.
This drama features the tropes/themes of “opposites attract” and “enemies to lovers.” It’s a funny, cute drama and the OST is really good!
Descendants of the Sun
This is low on my list for a few reasons (even though I really don’t make my lists with any ranking system or specific order). The main reason this drama ended up being last-ish is because I found it to be a bit slow in places and I felt like the will they-won’t they to be dragged on a bit too long. I’ll be honest though, that could just be my ADHD talking lol
That being said, this drama has a place on this list because it got me interested in K-Dramas and it was the first K-Drama I recommended to my best friend that she ended up liking lol
To summarize the show very briefly, this drama is primarily about the romance between a female doctor and a guy who is the leader of a special ops. team in the military. At first it doesn’t work out, but they get closer when the female lead is sent to the fictional war-torn region that he happens to be stationed in along with some other doctors. There’s a second lead couple as well, comprised of a female military doctor and the main male lead’s best friend and 2nd in command.
This drama has some great comedic moments and “bromance” moments and while it is largely realistic and doesn’t have any fantasy or sci-fi elements, it does have that funky 4th wall break at the end of the last episode which will 100% cause you to do a double-take.

Not gonna lie
Ahn Hyeo Seop as Kang Tae-Moo, a gentle, real chaebol CEO character who is prone to making mistakes and being stupid but also understands and knows what he did wrong and how to fix it is my new standard for chaebol love interests going forward.
Like Ha-Ri said, chaebols go to regular places too. And have decency and common sensical thinking too. If I see someone use the chaebol logic to defend the assholish actions of another character again, I will throw Kang Tae-Moo in your direction faster than the speed of light : I -----

TV Recommendation: Business Proposal
Kang Tae-Moo is focused on one thing and one thing only: Work. He is the President of a company that specializes in packaged, heat-and-eat meals and has been abroad working on bringing Korean cuisine to other nations.
Mainly to avoid his smothering grandfather, CEO Kang Da-Koo, who is obsessed with his grandson marrying and settling down.
Jin Young-Seo, meanwhile, is a wealthy heiress with much the same problem: her father obsessively sends her on blind dates, though she has no desire to marry for money or business acumen, but to marry someone she loves.
Enter Shin Ha-Ri. Ha-Ri is a brilliant food researcher who exists buried under a mountain of her parent’s debt that she is struggling to pay off. She is also Jin Young-Seo’s lifelong friend, and poses as her to bomb those blind dates in ways so epic that the wealthy, eligible bachelors of Korea will stay the hell away.
Pretending to be possessed, pretending to be a hooker, there really is nothing Ha-Ri hasn’t done to chase away a man, all in the name of a good laugh with her best friend.
But when she arrives to bomb Jin Young-Seo’s latest blind date she comes face to face with Kang Tae-Moo... Her boss.
If Tae-Moo realizes just who Ha-Ri is, she could lose her dream job in retaliation. While she tries to play along as Young-Seo as long as she can, there is an extreme problem:
Tae-Moo *hates* having his schedule screwed with for the sake of endless blind dates. He pops the question to Ha-Ri almost instantly, and then finds out... well, not who she is, but that she certainly isn’t Jin Young-Seo.
Young-Seo is forced to out her best friend as the real person Tae-Moo went on two catastrophic dates with. Ha-Ri gives him a fake name, but he makes her agree to pose as a fake girlfriend, just to get his grandfather off his back. In return, he will pay her $1,600 per date.
As Tae-Moo and Ha-Ri begin to develop feelings for one another, her lies will crumble and risk jeopardizing her career. Meanwhile, Jin Young-Seo has found her prince charming at last:
Tae-Moo’s secretary and brother, Cha Sung-Hoon, who is mad at Young-Seo for her deception against his best friend.
Kang Tae-Moo and Shin Ha-Ri have met their match in one another, and Jin Young-Seo has finally found her prince charming in Cha Sung-Hoon... if she can get him to speak to her.
