I can鈥檛 really explain my love for Ryan Trecartin but it has something to do with his use of language and the dialogue between actors, the overwhelming layers of visual information, the exposed sets and crew, and his ability to capture and harness a hysterical kind of energy that seems to slip between a state of crisis and a state of ecstasy. His show at NGV last year blew my mind. I don鈥檛 know how to put it into words...this is a rough attempt聽

you know ryan trecartin? he's an american artist based in LA. in his works he uses techniques that make videos look like grotesque, freaky disturbing castingshows. generally the tv, appearance, acting in front of camera, public behaviour, staging, attention, theatre, strange dialogues, compose the video. i think style plays a certain role there as well. have a look at one video thats also presented at this year's biennale! what do you think?
