I can’t really explain my love for Ryan Trecartin but it has something to do with his use of language and the dialogue between actors, the overwhelming layers of visual information, the exposed sets and crew, and his ability to capture and harness a hysterical kind of energy that seems to slip between a state of crisis and a state of ecstasy. His show at NGV last year blew my mind. I don’t know how to put it into words...this is a rough attempt

An artist, poet, and actor, #RachelLord has previously collaborated with Ryan Trecartin–both her and her paintings have appeared in his videos "Center Jenny" and "Any Ever". You can see her work on the third floor of the New Museum next to installations by Josh Kline and Antoine Catala. Lord mounted her debut solo exhibition "Documental" at Dem Passwords in Los Angeles last summer and has appeared on screen in the films "A Wonderful Cloud" and "Trial Run". Rachel Lord received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 2008 and currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

you know ryan trecartin? he's an american artist based in LA. in his works he uses techniques that make videos look like grotesque, freaky disturbing castingshows. generally the tv, appearance, acting in front of camera, public behaviour, staging, attention, theatre, strange dialogues, compose the video. i think style plays a certain role there as well. have a look at one video thats also presented at this year's biennale! what do you think?
