Our latest roundup showcases innovative Australian homes, including a house with a fish-pond atrium and a residence with a faceted black-metal extension. Mostly located in Melbourne and Sydney, these eight homes are united by their sculptural designs. While some have unusually shaped floorplans, others use detailed facades, cantilevers, roof cutouts and geometrical aluminium awnings to create eye-catching details. Read on for eight examples of sculptural Australian houses from Dezeen's archive:

Local studio Wood Marsh also drew on meandering paths leading to the site when creating the shape of the house, which has a curving form with long "arms" wrapping a swimming pool terrace and a driveway. Architect Matt Gibson decorated the facade of the extension, which contains a living space, two bedrooms, a study and a cascading terrace, with a laser-cut pattern that references the original architecture of the house. The aperture in the roofline, designed to resemble a bird's mouth, creates a sheltered outdoor dining space. A void at the centre of the roof lets natural light into the gabled building. PIC 1 is one of the models of the Sydney Opera House. These gaps are the triangular shapes of the Opera House. The reason why I went to the museum in Sydney to see and photograph this model is because the Sky Palace that I want to make is also made of irregular shapes, so I want to learn how to use different ideas to create it.
PIC 2&3 shows some of the designs that I think could be used on sky palace. The cement and silver colours work exceptionally well together, these colours give a futuristic apocalyptic feel, including some purple and blue renderings that enhance this effect.

Top Rendering Sydney – How Rendering can make the Home Visually Appealing
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/473df40ff0636958021113300fbfd7d1/ac63d908fce061de-5e/s540x810/3013fdd6f11cbefef8fc63ec734ac777d3193f1f.jpg)
Most homeowners who want to enhance the appearance of their home opt for Top Rendering Sydney to carry out the transformation. There is no denying that an old tired-looking building can look modern and visually appealing through Top Rendering Sydney. A visual improvement in your home can be very beneficial because it will make the property more attractive to potential buyers.
How does rendering work?
All the necessary information will be required by Top Rendering Sydney from the height of the wall to dimensions, distances from the street, volumes, wall thickness, outdoor surfaces, and many more. A geometric plan will be created to provide a realistic image of how the walls will look after rendering. The geometric pattern will be coated with colours that are closely similar to the actual materials or textures and then illuminated by light to illustrate the idea.
The main ingredients of the render will be cement, sand, and lime. Lime will provide the render with a creamier texture and improve its elasticity so that it won’t crack after drying. Top Rendering Sydney uses sand that is fine and free from impurities to ensure a smoother finish. Ingredients like pigments, bonding agents, and additives will be added to the rendering mixture to slow down the drying process.
A trowel will be used to apply the render in thin, smooth coats. However, the render can also be applied using a brush, sponge, or hessian bag according to the desired surface texture. Using a damp sponge on the hardened surface will produce a sponge textured finish while using a damp hessian bag can produce a pattern depending on the style of rubbing.
What is acrylic rendering?
An option to traditional cement render is the use of acrylic in the mix to make the render stronger and more flexible and less prone to cracking after it dries. Acrylic rendering can make an exterior wall look attractive and more durable. It is also easier to apply acrylic render because it can be rolled, trowelled, or sprayed on a surface. You can achieve different finishes that are smooth like concrete or one that is textured attractively.
