I see a lot of discussions and content (light-hearted and not) talking about Greek Apollo and Roman Apollo but y'all don't understand; it wasn't just that Greek Apollo had a second Roman Apollo hidden in his pocket, it's that Greek Apollo also has a secret third Celtic Apollo hidden behind his back like a tramp stamp he got in college and refuses to acknowledge or show to anyone.

Secret Magical Gift Swap 2024/2025 - Sign-Ups Open! 🔮🌿🍄

Hi everyone! ✨

After a break of 6 years, the Secret Magical Gift Swap is back!

The aim of the swap is to create friendships within the pagan/witchcraft/heathenry/other spiritual community and spread the gift of giving through a postal Secret Santa style event where you send a gift and receive one in return. It's tailored to witches, pagans, heathens, non-religious and religious people alike, Kemetics, Hellenics, polytheists of all sorts, those interested in nature paths, those that follow folk religions, astrologers and others on a path of alternative practice or magic.

In the past this was an annual event but we are now back with a plan to keep the Swaps going a few times a year, more than likely quarterly, with one for every season.

To start this new chapter off, I decided to create the first Swap now, around the very season of giving. However, with the way the financial situation is around the world right now and many post offices being closed for the end of December and start of January, this first Swap will go on from now until the end of January, with a short break in February before we jump into the second Secret Magical Gift Swap!

once again for the bajillionth time

Ireland's government being antisemitic does not make it okay for jumblr to "hit back" or whatever we think we're doing with hibernophobic garbage.

I am once again begging people to stop painting Irish folks as brutish, stupid, backwards, violent, and extra super duper ultra mega ontologically racist and snidely saying shit like "what do you expect it's Ireland"

I would love to stop hearing Jews talking about Ireland the way goyim talk about Israel (those evil ultra extra superwhites want an ethnostate/referring to everything the government or an individual does as being done "by Ireland/Israel" as though they're a monolith/they're not even really indigenous anyway they're descended from fake indigenous invaders and the REAL indigenous people are the descendents of the settler-colonists) and I would love people to maybe possibly acknowledge that while remaining neutral in world war two was bad, it would have been worse if Ireland had actively joined the Axis Powers.

I thought we agreed on this shit because it was our deeply held, sincerely supported belief that human beings are not their governments and that extremists should not be considered to speak for an entire fucking ethnicity.

But I guess everything we're absolutely right about being horrible to do to Jews, especially Israeli Jews, is actually totally okay, it's just that we need to point that hatred and bigotry at Celts instead.

Which is actually not very progressive.

The Secret of Kells (2009)

Lite gott och blandat denna månad. Mest blandat, men en del gott värt att se om.

Batman & Robin (1997) [👍🔁] Har alltid varit förtjust i den här filmen, fånig och underhållande och redigt duktiga skådespelare rakt igenom.

Behind the Mask of Zorro / El Zorro cabalga otra vez (1964) [🆓] Zorro-film som bjuder på väldigt lite nytt, väldigt röriga actionscener och där dubben faktiskt är bättre än filmen.

DOA: Dead or Alive (2006) [👍🔁] Faller nog in i samma kategori favoritfilmer som Batman & Robin: småfåniga plotter med duktiga skådespelare. Röjjigt underhållande rakt igenom.

En Djävul till Granne / The 'Burbs (1989) [__] Jisses. Blir aldrig bra. Knäppa karaktärer som tar knäppa beslut.

Fasornas slott / Black Castle, the (1952) [🆓] Bra story med vibbar av Mänskligt villebråd, Romeo och Julia och en god portion maktfullkomliga sadister som styr en avkrok med järnhand. Inte genial, men sevärd.

Gorilla lös! / Gorilla at Large (1954) [🆓] Rätt harmlöst karaktärsdrivet drama som utspelar sig på ett nöjesfält kallat ”Ondskans Trädgård” där en man hittas död inne i en gorillabur. Inte genial, men sevärd.

Hannibal: Erövraren / Annibale (1959) [🆓] Allt för tråkig för sitt eget bästa.

Hart to Hart: Secrets of the Hart (1995) [👍🆓] Helt klart kul att återse gamla "Par i Hjärter", får mig att sukta efter mer.

Kingdom of the Dinosaurs (2022) [👎🆓] Skådespelarna känns kompetenta, men regin att få liv i dialogen och piska i gång nerven för storyn finns inte där. Osebart sömnpiller.

Mark of Zorro, the (1974) [👍🆓] Klart sevärd Zorrofilm som både bjuder på de klassiska momenten och en egen spinn på dem.

Mord och inga visor. Den Keltiska Gåtan / Murder, She Wrote: The Celtic Riddle (2003) [👍🔁] Kunde inte låta bli att tänka på Arvspelen medan jag såg den -- klart bra och en av de bästa av filmerna som avslutade serien.

Mord, lilla vän (1955) [👎🆓] Oj vad bra den här hade varit med en mer sympatisk karaktär som huvudroll. Nu blir fick den bara en irriterat halsstarrig journalist som kastar anklagelser runt sig.

Next Stop Murder (2010) [🆓] Modern take på Strangers on a Train, här med en egen spinn. Det funkar men kan kanske inte kallas genialt.

Oh, vilket party! / Party, the (1968) [👎] Vilken överskattad film. Långt ifrån rolig. Var det lämpligt ens 1968 med en sminkad ENGELSMAN som spelade fumlig indier?

Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) [🔁] Bättre än jag mindes den. Ser fram emot kommande Wicked.

Zorro Kommer Tillbaka / Bold Caballero, the (1936) [🆓] Känd för tre saker: första Zorro filmen i färg, första Zorro-filmen med tal och den enda Zorro-filmen som (likt den litterära förlagan) visar Zorro i helmask. Bra story, och kändes på det hela taget påkostad.

Jag ljög. Bara blandat! den här månaden är kanske Zorro-filmerna det vettiga man kan plocka upp. Om man inte känner för att se om 90-tals klassiker då (och då menar jag B&R inte EDtG).

• cassia the sunflower comes to mind first, due to its "always facing toward the light" nature and its general association to positive energies and optimism! but i'd also associate her with daffodils, since they're tied to rebirth/new beginnings, creativity and resilience. • nyxram i've kind of answered this for her in the past! but definitely the purple hyacinth, begonias, red dahlia, orange lilies, marigolds, and/or wolfsbane. they all have ties to regret, sorrow, pleas for forgiveness, and also foreshadowed betrayal. • gwyn tbh, i less associate gwyn with flowers and more associate her with trees, in which case i'd choose either birch trees or rowan trees. but for the sake of sticking to more floral things: forget-me-nots, hollyhock, sea thrift or irish moss. both forget-me-nots and hollyhock are said to belong to the good people, making it bad luck to bring into your home. sea thrift is tough and stubborn, and irish moss isn't a true moss, rather a plant that resembles it, which i think speaks to gwyn's social-chameleon habits and the loss/sacrifice of her own identity for the sake of survival. • ash chamomile, foxgloves, yellow iris, white water lilies. chamomile was associated by druids to life-giving forces, foxgloves were believed to belong to the good people, the iris has connections to the goddess brigid, and white water lilies are found in still or slow moving water. i find myself associating ash to water quite often, and these are sometimes called duilleagbhaite bhan (the white leaf of drowning) or ruamalach (beacon or warning).
