@scarlxtleaves (Emilia starter for you!)
Emilia was somewhere new. She found herself in Magnolia town, still on the hunt for a wizard guild to join. Nothing had really appealed to her until now. As she looked around the marketplace area, a mouse popped out of a pocket in her dress.
"Chuu, I sense something strange, chuu! This way, this way!" she squeaked and rushed out of her dress and down the street. "Wai- Mouse!" Emilia called out and followed, only to come face to face with a spiky ginger haired man in a suit wearing glasses.
Tumblr media
She gawked at him and suddenly felt that strange sense as well. "You...You're a Celestial Spirit aren't you? Who has your key?" she asked curiously, "Or do you currently have no master?"

Just My Thoughts Pt. 2
Yukino & Star Dresses
Disclaimer: This is not a Yukino hate post. This is solely my opinion
I don’t think Yukino should have Star Dresses in 100 YQ
Lucy earned hers with a lot of hard work and sacrifice. I’m not saying Yukino didn’t work hard or anything but it is nothing compared to Lucy
Lucy sacrificed Aquarius to save literally everything and everyone. She was granted the first Star Dress (Aquarius) for her dedication and sacrifice from the Celestial Spirit King (who calls her his “old friend” and clearly has some admiration for her relationship with her spirits).
Aquarius was one of Lucy original golden keys. She was there during the hardships she faced with Jude after Layla’s death. She made Lucy feel less alone and loved!! Despite everything Aquarius says, she loves her like a child and gave her the opportunity to summon the King to save her guildmates. She knows that Lucy will be more alone and suffer if she didn’t make that choice. Ifeel like that deep connection demonstrates what Lucy is capable of.
I feel like Yukino having Star Dress severely down plays Lucy and her strength as a mage. Lucy deserved her powers beyond what she is shown for. Yukino has a good reputation and relationship as a celestial mage however Lucy considers her spirits as friends and worked hard so she doesn’t have to be put in a position where she needs to sacrifice them again.
I’m glad to see the two remaining Star Dresses but I feel like Yukino should’ve had some kind of test or situation where she needed to tap into that power like Lucy
What are your opinions on this topic?

Chapter Four of Lucy the Lion is OUT.
It's killing me that I know I shouldn't just post the whole thing in one chapter like the maniac I am. That going slowly is better to help me continue writing the arcs I'm currently writing, but I want to share it all right now with everyone sooooo badly.
Even that might not be enough to stop me, except I also know that doing final publishing edits would take days and I am way beyond the Ao3 character limit for one chapter. Instead we're all gonna have to make due with 2-3 chapters a week.

Last night I remembered another of my favourite Tolkien wifeguy facts.
So in Western mythology we've often personified the Sun as masculine and the Moon as feminine. Off the top of my head: The Sun is associated with purity, reason, scholarship, illumination, constancy, dragons, gold, and masculinity. On the other hand, the Moon is associated with darkness, silver, impurity, flux, change, uncertainty, fickleness, and femininity.
You can see all this imagery being adopted, eg, in the Mozart opera THE MAGIC FLUTE, in which a benevolent scholar wizard (with solar imagery). straight up kidnaps the daughter of the evil, passionate Queen of the Night so that she can be properly educated in Enlightenment rationalism, purged of all those icky feminine night/lunar influences, and turned into a good submissive little wife for the scholar's young disciple. Guys the music slaps but the story is SO gross and misogynistic.
Anyway, what does this have to do with Tolkien? I'M SO GLAD YOU ASKED.
In Middle-Earth, Tolkien does a GENDERSWAPPED Sun and Moon. The Sun is She, the Moon is He. And, like, it's not that he just thought "oh how can I make this mythology Different" - he really thought this through. In THE SILMARILLION, Tolkien tells us that the Sun and Moon are two vessels made from the last flower of Telperion and the last fruit of Laurelin, the Two Trees which once gave light to Valinor. Two Maiar were chosen to pilot these vessels. The pilot of the moon is Tilion, a hunter of Orome, and the pilot of the sun is Arien: "Arien the maiden was mightier than he", a spirit of fire whom I strongly suspect to be an unfallen Balrog.
Now, just as in our world, the Moon in Middle Earth has a reputation for waywardness and unreliability. Because, get this, apparently Tilion falls in love with Arien: "But Tilion was wayward and uncertain in speed, and held not to his appointed path; and he sought to come near to Arien, being drawn by her splendour, though the flame of Arien scorched him, and the island of the Moon was darkened."
And I just. Here's Tolkien, standing up in the face of centuries of unveiled misogynistic symbolism and saying, "oh, we've got two celestial entities, one of which is powerful and bold and glorious, and the other famous for being kind of lame in comparison? SOUNDS TO ME LIKE A SWAGLESS LOVER BOY ABANDONING HIS DUTIES TO WORSHIP HIS GODDESS. I MEAN OBVIOUSLY. WHAT ELSE COULD THE EXPLANATION BE"

Another reminder that Greek mythology is always somehow symbolic, metaphorical, allegorical, since we are dealing with anthropomorphic personifications and other embodiments of cosmic powers.
For example: Demeter has sex with both Zeus and Poseidon. Something-something about the relationship of the Earth with the Sky and the Sea (or the celestial and chthonian powers). ESPECIALLY since these relationships are said to happen at the beginning of the world, in the primordial times during which the world settled itself for what it is now.
Herakles' wedding with Hebe, the personification of youth, checks in with when he becomes an immortal god (aka, an eternally young entity). What better way to symbolize a hero escaping the clutches of death than by him becoming the husband of the spirit of eternal youth?
Why is Hestia never leaving Olympus? Something-something about her being the literal personification of the hearth, which is at the center of the house/community and does not move.
Why is Ares getting his ass kicked by Athena? Because Athena is civilization, and Ares savagery, and in the Ancient Greek mindset intelligence, wisdom and craft will always be above brutality, bloodlust and random cruelty.
Do I need to spell it out that the myth of Persephone-Hades-Demeter is about the cycle of the seasons, and how the earth renews itself and brings back life after a time of death?
And I wonder why Ares' companions during his mass-slaughters are called Phobos, Deimos and Eris - Fear, Panic and Discord... Why would the goddess that breaks harmony and sows feuds and chaos be depicted as the close sister of the god of the ravages of war and of the brutality of conflicts, what a strange mystery!
And I can go on, and on, and on. Remember, the Greek gods aren't just super-heroes or wizards (that's more in line with more "humanized" mythologies, like the Irish or Nordic ones). They are embodiments of concepts and ideas, personifications of natural forces and cosmic powers, they are living allegories and fleshed metaphors. Zeus wields the lightning because he IS the lightning and thunder. Dionysos is both the bringer of joy and madness because he IS alcohol. Hades is both the name of the god of the dead, and of the realm of the dead. Hestia's name is literaly "hearth" in Greek, Hebe "youth", Nyx "night", Gaia "earth", Eros "desire". You can write "Eris met Helios at Okeanos' palace" or you can write "Strife encountered the Sun at the palace of Ocean" and that is the EXACT SAME THING!
[Mind you to limit the gods to being JUST allegories is also a mistake not to make. Greek deities are much more than just X concept or X idea... But one part of the myths will always be, down the line, some weather metaphor or some natural cycle motif]

My Opinion on the LU Boys DND Classes
Tumblr media
as a DM of 3 years and a enjoyer of dnd for MUCH LONGER, i have so sososos many thoughts on what classes the boys would be. This will also include subclasses CAUSE ITS MY POST AND IMMA DO WHAT I WANT! /LH SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG!!!!
Time -> Fighter, Eldritch Knight
Twilight -> Barbarian, Path of the Ancestral Guardian
Warriors -> Fighter, Battle Master
Sky -> Paladin, Oath of Devotion
Wild -> Ranger, Gloomstalker
Legend -> Wizard, Bladesinging
Hyrule -> Warlock, The Celestial
Four -> Fighter, Echo Knight
Wind -> Rogue, Swashbuckler
Taglist cause I know somepeople were interested! @catreginae @next-hero-in-line @unexpectedstormy @nancyheart11 @majorproblems77 @ladye-zelda @ajscico @mishwanders @violetregrets1837 @1dragon-mustard1
Under the cut will be explanations as to why i picked these classes! (as well as the official descriptions of the subclasses for context)
Time, The Eldritch Knight
Subclass Description; They focus their study on two of the eight schools of magic: abjuration and evocation. Abjuration spells grant an Eldritch Knight additional protection in battle, and evocation spells deal damage to many foes at once, extending the fighter's reach in combat. These knights learn a comparatively small number of spells, committing them to memory instead of keeping them in a spellbook.
--
Fighter is a go to for all the boys, but I think Time is a perfect fit for the class as he is shown time and time again to be a frontline fighter. He's quick to draw his sword and quicker to swing it.
Though Time is not a heavy magic user in the LU comics, he is known to have quite a few spells/magical abilities in his games and comics! Many of these abilities are defensive or to deal with large 'groups' of enemies at once, which is what Abjuration and Evocation spells are used for -respectively. The Class is still heavily rooted in melee rather than magic -like Time- but the magic they do use is to add a extra kick to their punch.
There are also abilities that make the Eldritch knight much harder (if not impossible) to disarm!
In higher levels, the subclasses allows the user to be more effective and quick with their spell casting who their actions are free for melee attacks, which would be a perfect fit for the quick and preciseness Time uses in battle.
Twilight, The Barbarian of Ancestral Guardians
Subclass description; Some barbarians hail from cultures that revere their ancestors. These tribes teach that the warriors of the past linger in the world as mighty spirits, who can guide and protect the living. When a barbarian who follows this path rages, the barbarian contacts the spirit world and calls on these guardian spirits for aid.
--
Barbarian is a common pick for Twilight as it is the most strength based class and while I agree with it always never quite sat right with me due to the violence the class is stereotyped to lean towards.
The subclass itself was picked because I connected it with not only the Hero's Shade but also the light spirits that Twilight encounters on his journey. Its very much a spirit heavy class that deals with a lot of themes regarding 'guardian' like figures which fit perfectly for the 'guardian' spirits Twilight runs into -and is trained by- during his adventure. I also choose this one because of how defensive it is, especially when it comes to protecting others!
Twilight is a protector, in the LU comics, in his games, in his manga, he is shown time and time again to protect others so to have a subclass to reflect his protective nature is a perfect match for his character!
Warriors, the Battle Master
Subclass Description; Those who emulate the archetypal Battle Master employ martial techniques passed down through generations. To a Battle Master, combat is an academic field, sometimes including subjects beyond battle such as weaponsmithing and calligraphy. Not every fighter absorbs the lessons of history, theory, and artistry that are reflected in the Battle Master archetype, but those who do are well-rounded fighters of great skill and knowledge.
--
Another fighter! Like I said for Time, this class is very much a 'go-to' class for any and all of the LU boys! But warriors fits so well for this class, a undeterred and seemingly never ending energy in a fight, Fighter fits perfectly!
I think that we all can agree that Warriors is one of the top 3 swordsmen in the group, his way with his sword is unlike the others as he holds an elegance and swiftness that can be rivalled by very few. The Battle Master subclass is built upon the idea of 'Yeah, you can try to hit me but get ready for your shit to get rocked.' It is about countering, using the enemies weaknesses to your gain and getting your hits in whenever you can.
A Captain in a war would be a battle master without a doubt!
Sky, Paladin of Devotion
Subclass description; --They hold themselves to the highest standards of conduct, and some, for better or worse, hold the rest of the world to the same standards. Many who swear this oath are devoted to gods of law and good and use their gods' tenets as the measure of their devotion. They hold angels – the perfect servants of good – as their ideals, and incorporate images of angelic wings into their helmets or coats of arms.
--
Is...Is this a surprise to anyone? A little cliche yes, but how can you blame me when it suits him so well!
First, Divine smite? PERFECT for the Skyward Strike, without a doubt and I don't think theres anything that could fit it so well! A mighty strike blessed with divine power and -depending on what spell/ability- can shed a great amount of light and cause lightning/thunder to burst from the strike! There is also abilities with the subclass that makes your weapon a beacon of light for a short period of time
Sky is devoted to many things. But its obvious hes devoted to his Zelda -the reincarnation of Hyila, a goddess- so much so that before he knew of her divine spirit he was willing to head into a world unknown just to look for her. He is so devoted to her and Skyloft that he fought a GOD to keep everyone he loved safe and sound.
Wild, The Gloom Stalker
Subclass description; Gloom stalkers are at home in the darkest places: deep under the earth, in gloomy alleyways, in primeval forests, and wherever else the light dims. Most folk enter such places with trepidation, but a gloom stalker ventures boldly into the darkness, seeking to ambush threats before they can reach the broader world.--
--
Since TOTK I feel like this would be fitting for the hero to be proficient in fighting in the darken places of the world. The name of the subclass is also suits him considering a huge part of the game -The Gloom- is apart of this class in a way.
Ranger is a great class for Wild, it is the definition of a hunter, an explorer, one that finds there own path in the wildness. Wild, though seen to get lost in the comics, has a great understanding of his Hyrule and its geographic locations and terrain, both surface and depths. He is also a great archer, and a even better hunter!
The hero is a survivor of the wilds, and Rangers are the best suited to do such a thing
Legend, The BladeSinger
Subclass Description: Bladesingers master a tradition of wizardry that incorporates swordplay and dance. In combat, a bladesinger uses a series of intricate, elegant maneuvers that fend off harm and allow the bladesinger to channel magic into devastating attacks and a cunning defense.
----
Legend is one of the more magically inclined Heros, and though thats mostly through his artifacts and magic items that doesn’t take away the fact that the hero has a broad knowledge when it came to magic.
I picked bladesinging specifically because while it’s main focus is magic it still uses the sword and it’s connection to ones-self. Legend is still a fighter at heart so i don’t think he would toss away those skills in this situation. He is shown in a few panels to have some sort of connection/bond to the mastersword and likely his own weapon, so it was important for me to somehow intertwine his two biggest skills together.
And a bit selfishly, i think he would look very very cool dancing around with his sword-
Hyrule, The Holy Warlock
Subclass description: Your patron is a powerful being of the Upper Planes. You have bound yourself to an ancient empyrean, solar, ki-rin, unicorn, or other entity that resides in the planes of everlasting bliss.
---
I know most people would make Hyrule either a wizard or nature based magic user but in all fairness, I dont think Hyrule is one to learn magic by the traditional means (reading/studying it). This isn’t to say the kid isn’t capable of doing so, but with the whole “hero of Hyila,” you’d think there would be a bit more a divine connection there.
Warlocks make deals, pacts, with some sort of higher being for their magic intentionally or not and Hyila ,a holy celestial, being fits perfectly to be his patron. The magic granted to a celestial warlock is based on a clerics abilities, healing, protecting from the undead and fiends, lighting a path etc. Warlocks also are also a little more focused on melee/combat and if picking the right pact boon, can have a special relationship/connect to their sword!
Four, The Echo Knight
Subclass description: Echo knights harness fading shades of unrealized timelines, pulling a shadowy duplicate of themself called an "echo" to fight by their side. The echoes are somewhat fragile, but the echo knight can summon another at any time.
--
Okayokayokay— HEAR ME OUT ON THIS ONE!!!
One of the echo knight’s main abilities is being able to make shadowy versions of themselves to fight alongside them in a battle. These shadows or ‘echoes’ are an extension of the person’s form/soul and are able to communicate and aid the original knight. They are able to project their consciousness into these shadows to get the information they have seen/witness and collects it all once they all fuse back together.
TELL ME THAT AINT PERFECT FOR FOUR!!!
Wind, The Swashbuckler
Subclass Description: You focus your training on the art of the blade, relying on speed, elegance, and charm in equal parts. While some warriors are brutes clad in heavy armor, your method of fighting looks almost like a performance. Duelists and pirates typically belong to this archetype. A Swashbuckler excels in single combat, and can fight with two weapons while safely darting away from an opponent.
--
….i feel like this is pretty straightforward as to why i picked this for Wind.
Wind, shown to be quite a sneaky Link in his games, is probably the most rogue like in the Chain. He’s a strong kid, but he specializes in quick strikes and keeping his opponents on their toes and unexpecting. He is also, very clearly, a pirate! So it isn’t surprising for the hero to have one of (if not the only) pirate theme-d subclass! The class is very agile, but the subclass specifically is focused on disarming, ‘backstabbing’ and overall being sneaky in plain sight!
And thought i do think this is a great fit for the hero, i could also see him as a Storm sorcerer, which was my second pick!
UHHHH! YEAH THATS IS! if you're reading this, thank you so much for listening to me ramble and if you have any ideas/thoughts of your own i would LOVE to hear them!!!

Another Lucy note: I would've loved if part of the series set up the idea of Lucy training to be an S class wizard. Like a major part of it would be her uncovering her family history, discovering who Layla was before she married into nobility, and in general just coming into her own. But rarely do we ever see a shounen series where a female character has a goal of being the best at what they do.
I don't mean this as "Lucy pulverizing her enemies" but more that she becomes such a world class Celestial mage that she earns the title on wit and magical aptitude. We could've had more focus on her bonding with her various spirits and understanding them making the eventual Aqaurius sacrifice hurt even worse. Imagine Lucy in down time having outings with spirits where she both attempts to strengthen a friendship and also her own magical abilities by building her mana over time.
Crux and Loke helping Lucy research other celestial mages to figure out their techniques and see what she could do better. Tea time with Aries to help her find a calm activity to enjoy where she can speak her mind. Exercising/training with Virgo and Taurus to build her physical strength and keep her precision with the whip. Hair days at the guild where Cancer gets to experiment new styles he thinks would suit guild members who are up for it.
Beyond that potientially us getting to hear more about the previous mages various spirits had the pleasure of encountering.
I would've genuinely loved to see Lucy go from someone who tries her best and struggles, into someone who is self assured and powerful in her own right.

astro hypothesis: what i would dress you as for halloween
remember when i was like what about dressing for the occasion? we are again grabbing your venus persona and take a look at the chart. instead of houses though we are looking at neptune because it represents disguises, costumes, fantasies, etc. all those fun things that go into picking a costume. if you wanna kick things up a notch you can always look at your current venus return's neptune for new ideas!
4h neptune
Tumblr media
childhood favorites: dress as characters from beloved childhood movies/stories like peter pan, ms. frizzle, red riding hood, goldilocks, sleeping beauty, thing 1 & thing 2, etc. this appeals to the 4h's strong sense of nostalgia and comfort found in childhood memories.
fortune teller or mystic: could symbolize a person connected to hidden family knowledge or ancestral wisdom.
ghost: spectral figure from a different era, representing family ancestors or a past life, perhaps dressed in vintage or historical clothing.
home-related characters: think of characters associated with houses - mrs. doubtfire, miyazaki’s totoro, mary poppins, home alone's kevin mccallister, coraline's other mother, etc.
matriarchs and/or patriarchs: frigg (goddess of home and motherhood) in particular encapsulates the vibe. your partner can dress as odin too! i feel like 4h, 7h, and 11h neptune people really enjoy group costumes. in this case it would be a family themed costume - like morticia and gomez addams!
vintage or retro family member: dress as a 1950s housewife, victorian-era ancestor, or a hippie parent from the ‘70s. bring a familial figure from the past into the present.
4°, 16°, 28° neptune
Tumblr media
guardian angel: they have an otherworldly essence. they might wear soft, flowing robes, or maybe go the realistic angel route!
moon goddess or lunar spirit: this person could embody a moon deity or lunar spirit, with silvery, shimmering fabrics and a mystical glow/glitter.
mother nature: nurturing, maternal figure representing the earth and life, with flowing garments adorned with natural elements like flowers, leaves, and vines.
aquarius neptune
Tumblr media
alien or space traveler: i get that a generation of people have this placement but i think it is so underused? think futuristic concepts and outer space... like guys dune served looks...
cyberpunk or futuristic figure: transport the people to dystopian world, combine technology and imagination.
