i know celeste's reputation for being hard, but honestly i think it's overall a very forgiving game you die a lot, but that's just because you slipped up a bit and the game immediately gives you another shot to try again it never really felt janky or unfair, climbing the difficulty curve was generally pretty smooth, and playing through it just feels satisfying and rewarding there's a couple screens here and there that were a little frustrating, especially in the b-sides, but i don't think i ever really got upset

then farewell made me want to cry

3,935 deaths it's just cruel all the new mechanics were soooo hard to get a grip on and STILL feel really imprecise to me a good part of it was that i was playing very late and had been for several hours, so i was not in a good headspace for it i spent like an hour and a half at midnight on the "comb room" before i gave up and went to bed and it was absolutely miserable it was MUCH better the next day when i came back refreshed and managed to get past it relatively quickly, and thankfully it never felt that terrible again even the last stage which took me like two hours to get through didn't feel super unfair

i think farewell DOES occasionally give you that sense of accomplishment that the rest of the game has, but my first impression was really soured by all the jankiness it threw at me

i have not gotten through the core b-side or any of the c-sides, which you are apparently highly recommended to beat before you attempt farewell, but i heard about that way too late so oh well i'll get to them at some point (and probably the moon berry...) but for now i can finally check out celeste 64 ^^

celeste speedruns are so fucking funny to me. just because of the victory screen. any% runs might get like 1 strawberry max. so even on world record runs, the screenshot posted is just the cast going "meh" and being unimpressed. they don't care about the speedrun. this pie fucking sucks.

I love how the end scene of the main story of Celeste changes depending on how many strawberries you’ve collected. If you got a decent amount of strawberries everyone says “oh wow, this is a pretty nice strawberry pie you made, well done!”, and if you get tons, they’re like “this is the greatest thing to ever touch my tongue, you are a goddess of fruit pastries”.

But then if you collect none at all they just stare at you like “girl you fucking suck at cooking” and that’s hilarious to me. Madeline reaches the peak of Celeste Mountain, a treacherous journey that has claimed the lives of many, learning to accept the darker parts of herself along the way, and once she comes down she makes a pie to celebrate and it’s the worst fucking thing you’ve ever seen. It’s 90% raw shortbread with a thin layer of jam in the middle that adds nothing to the flavour. Funny as hell

it's the primary ingredient in strawberry pie. They float in the air (with no corresponding strawberry bush anywhere in sight), exclusively appear on this one specific magical mountain above a certain altitude, and some of them have wings.

strawberries!!! i love strawberries so much. not only are they my favorite berry, but also my favorite fruit overall. for a while my favorite fruits were apples and pineapples, but then i got a special interest in celeste (most awesome video game ever) and now strawberries taste better to me due to the associations. memories and associations with food really influences how much i like it, so a lot of my favorite foods are related to past or present special interests. but anyway um yeah !! i love strawberries. i had strawberry pie for my birthday last year instead of a cake. this is also due to celeste associations. it was also the first time in like four years maybe that i had something other than butterscotch-cinnamon pie(i love undertale) as my birthday cake-adjacent thing

Posted this in the Sky discord, but Tumblr is going to get my rambling thoughts about a Sky X Celeste season.

The Season Guide would be The Bird™️ because of course, and the event would be located in the Valley of Triumph, probably in the Village of Dreams (Granny gets a cabin house there?. The premise would be to help a capeless Madeline ('The Cautious Climber') climb, similar to the Little Prince. Or maybe it's the other way around and she teaches you how to navigate without a cape.

Other spirits would include the characters from the game (names a WIP, especially since I don't remember the names of all the spirits or emotes):

Part of Madeline/The Paranoid Part, with the emote 'Tantrum'

Theo/The Insecure Influencer, with the emote 'Come On' which prompts another player to join in on a selfie

The Old Woman/The Guffawing Granny, with the emote 'Cackle'

Mr. Oshiro/The Overattentive Owner, with the emote 'Fret'

As you climb higher together, you get to see Maddie's hair change colors from red to blue and eventually pink.

Items would include the winged strawberry, crystal heart, a feather, and maybe a table with strawberry pie? You could possibly also get sheet music of popular songs from Celeste.

Cosmetics would just be outfits of the characters. Debating on whether or not they would make the Skid capeless of if they'd wear the jackets like capes. Probably the latter. Mr. Oshiro would be the exception with a translucent green cape since he's a ghost.

Though I doubt it will ever happen, I think this would be a cute Season, especially since Celeste explores themes like anxiety and self-confidence, which I feel like Sky kind of helps with.
