Hey Tumblr,

Feeling electric today. Have a gig coming up on Wednesday that's a significant deal for me and my community. It'll be nothing but a good time and I'm buzzing with excitement!

About the gig: I'll be playing ambient Blues & Jazz/Rock & Roll at the 'End of The Year [2024] Scrapped Magazine Party' from 5-9PM at a local venue in Fort Collins, Colorado. I've been working with Scrapped Magazine this past year and it's changed my life! Wrote two concert reviews (up on my Substack) for Scrapped and have some drawings/illustrations I've shared in the magazine. I'm still at odds with defining myself as an artist and in a way resent labeling my work, but everything I've done in scrapped is like little glimmers of joy for me. Never would've imagined I'd actually be doing any of this. As I've head manifestation coaches say, living my "wish fulfilled"

Went/going through the motions to prepare for Wednesday: Promoting the event to friends and colleagues, practicing by myself and with my team, playing at open mics, playing at a live film scoring of the 1986 film Milo and Otis #deafdogdojo, stepping into spiritual growth, and making friends. It's been fun work but exhausting. Overwhelmed for sure but all my effort is to make this whole music thing I'm doing into my job - and I have faith in the process!

Fighting off toxic attitudes and expectations from (myself) [and] others and accepting the things that haven't worked out exactly like my wishes/prayers/dreams and fantasies. Really, there's a sense of my imagination being at odds with reality as I shape a life I want to live. In the words of Silver the Hedgehog in the 2011 video game Sonic Generations, "I'm an optimist, but I'm also a realist." Also I'm pessimist and suspect I'm autistic. Having fun though!

Personal headcanons for Sofia the First because why not?

The reason Sofia seems to love bunnies so much (ie, how quickly she was to love Clover) is because when she was small, her biological father gave her a soft stuffed bunny before he got lost at sea. Sofia slept with that bunny every night since because it reminds her of her father

Before Sofia became a princess, Amber and James were an inseparable duo. So once Sofia became part of the royal family, Amber was afraid that James would rather be Sofia's friend than hers, hence why she was so cold and distant towards Sofia in the pilot movie and early parts of the series

Queen Miranda told Sofia stories of how much her father loved magic. She told Sofia that he even tried to become a magician, but hos attempts would almost always lead him to funny mistakes and failure. That's why Sofia looks up to Cedric so much, because he's a sorcerer (basically the same thing as a magician) and he makes funny mistakes, so Sofia imagines that her father was a lot like Cedric.

Although Clio was part of Amber's friend group, she felt like Amber and Hildegard were much closer friends and that she was always the "third wheel", so to speak. That's why she connected with Sofia so much; she knew what it felt like to be in Amber's shadow

Elena felt drawn and connected to Sofia so much because she reminded her so much of her own little sister, Isabela

Making mistakes is inevitable, and making more in an attempt to fix them is as well. But that’s part of learning, part of being alive

Mistakes are a beautiful thing, because without them we’d never grow. How many times do you think I’ve broken my flying machine while trying to fix a loose bolt? Not to mention the many times it exploded while trying to fix it from fixing the bolt

If you’re broken for making those mistakes, then so am I, and Proto, and Rue, and everyone else. Then we can all be broken together

Every time I make an effort to fix my mistakes, it seems I only create more of them...

My siblings say it's inevitable. I don't know, maybe it is.

Or maybe I'm just broken.

I'm trying not to think that way. I know it isn't helping anyone, but these thoughts... never leave me for long. And there's only so much I can do to drown them out.
