🕯️ for @cedric-pilot
[Cedric is a great brother and I can't begin to thank him for everything he does. I wish he took better care of himself, but that's what Rue and I are for-]
[Oh.]
[...I just had a vision of his next experiment catching fire, but I won't tell him. He will be fine...]
[...He still needs to be more careful...]

I do care! I’ll talk to Proto and Silver, and we’ll get them up and running. Especially the Guardian and rowbots
There are 37 inactive robots in the Old factor in north east Barrens, if you even care

I just had a genius idea! Instead of a propellor on the front of my flying machine, what if it was on top!
It would have to be larger, and I’d need another one in the back to counteract the spin… but it could work!

I’m all for Sofia and Cedric friendship but damn is the fandom obsessed with it, forgetting that the same man who they want him to father her attempted to kill her in the first special post the pilot.

I don’t THINK that was me, but I’ll have to come check
God damnit. This is the third time this week, so I’m going to post about it now.
Whoever keeps opening the Rift in Space and Time in the dishwasher needs to STOP. Seriously. We keep losing dishes en masse, and it’s starting to get annoying.

Enchanted shoes: where the footprints lead…
I think in the pilot Once Upon A Princess, Cedric must have helped Amber sabotage Sofia's dancing shoes, so she would come and ask for his help with a spell before the dance. Maybe he wasn't explicitly involved, because he didn't appear to mention it on the scene.
But where would Amber have gotten the defective magic shoes?
Amber herself says that she "took Cedric's trick shoes by mistake". But would that really be the case?
What would Cedric be doing with a pair of enchanted shoes, which would conveniently be the same size as Sofia's dancing shoes?
Furthermore, only Cedric, and possibly Baileywick, would have the key to the workshop in the tower. Since there are many potentially dangerous objects there that could cause an accident.
Baileywick wouldn't have picked up a pair of trick shoes without suspecting what Amber was planning to do with them, especially during Sofia's first dance class before the big royal ball.
Amber could have snuck in to catch them at the workshop. However, even if Cedric had been busy or absent, Wormwood would have sensed her presence, flown and cawed at her, flying back to his master and alerting him of intruders in the workshop.
But why would he do that? What would he have to gain?
My hypothesis is that he gave the trick shoes to Amber on purpose, in a premeditated action, to sabotage Sofia in the dance class before the royal ball. Knowing that Sofia would come to him to ask for his help.
He could have formulated a new plan, where his intentions didn't seem so suspicious.
By making a deal with Amber, to pit her against her younger sister Sofia, so that everything would seem just like an accident that happened between a small feud between sisters.
Where Sofia would give him the amulet willingly, in an agreement for the greater good and a form of reconciliation between the two sisters.
( In the episode Butterfly Princess, Cedric negotiates with Amber in exchange for the amulet of Avalor. But what if that wasn't the first time he tried to manipulate her in his favor?)
He could have observed that Amber was feeling jealous of the attention Sofia was receiving, and that she would do anything to be the focus of everyone's attention again. Amber would be vulnerable to Cedric's manipulation, especially if he had offered a possible solution.
Cedric could have told Amber that the only way to regain everyone's attention, was to show that she was a better princess than Sofia. For example, by dancing better than her, at Sofia's own presentation ball.
Implementing the idea that she should sabotage her sister, embarrassing her in the classroom and making her miss Professor Popov's dance class. Which would make her have a disadvantage by not knowing how to dance at the royal ball.
And as Cedric had assured Sofia that the doors of his workshop were open to help her, he knewn that she would ask him for help before the royal ball took place, to obtain a spell to be able to dance better.
Again, Cedric would sabotage her by giving the wrong spell, and he would ask for the amulet of Avalor in exchange to reverse it.
And even then, he didn't see how hypocritical it would be to sabotage Sofia's ball on purpose. Since it was by ruining Cordelia's ball by accident that he gained a reputation for being a bungler.

Judging by your reposts of my posts you like Cedric huh?
Go listen to Moremoney - Pilot (YOU'LL SEE WHAT I MEAN BELIEVE ME)
Also I think Ced owns this shirt.
Tumblr media
Also what do you think TWM and Cedric's relationship would look like. This is the work of his Father's life, and it, in fact, took it away in the end- So i imagine it being very complicated to say the least😭 like, i think Cedric knows it's not TWM's fault but he still feels very bad about it all-
[Start ID: A dark grey T shirt that reads "engineering? I'm engi-nearing my limit" in different expressive fonts of red orange yellow and white letters. End ID.]
Alright first of all cool song!!! Give Cedric daddy issues!! I see it. I think in the end Cedric is forgiving but he must have a lot of mixed feelings, because the Author, while a loving guy, could not have possibly also had that much time to dedicate to Cedric, or any of his other children, for that matter.
Now. Regarding TWM... You know how I said Cedric is somewhat detached? He avoids talking about the old world, unless pushed by Niko. He avoids the thought of living in a simulation and insists on that, almost like a coping mechanism. I think some of it may be grief from this lost world, but some of it may be his own distance towards TWM and what it can cause on the code. After all, he's likely equally as vulnerable as everyone else to the squares.
It's uncertain whether TWM directly provoked the Author's death, considering he "left on his own terms", but symbolically? It may have, yeah. The Author invested his last years working on this project that's meant to last beyond himself and his world, but in turn most likely sacrificed time and opportunities to live himself. It's a selfless act, but that doesn't mean his children don't need him to be present too. The younger you headcanon Cedric as the worse this is. (night has placed him as grad school student age, but many do consider him a teen). Cedric may try to avoid thinking about this and making this connection, but it would be a low blow to face any grief he has about his father.
And to add even more fuel, because of the Solstice run, Cedric likely has trauma from the squares and TWM's influence on them. He has to actively run from them. They damage his flying machine, they cause the labs to collapse, they destroyed his brother's body. But unlike him, Cedric can't just replace himself if he gets hurt. He may put on a brave face and be proactive to get things done (let's face it he carries the Solstice run), but this still has to impact him in some way.
On the World Machine's side I imagine that it has mixed feelings on the trio as a whole. In a way it's thanks to their efforts that it could be tamed, but according to Rue it also spent so long thinking of them as not real, and to have this view challenged has to be a big thing to get used to.

Making mistakes is inevitable, and making more in an attempt to fix them is as well. But that’s part of learning, part of being alive
Mistakes are a beautiful thing, because without them we’d never grow. How many times do you think I’ve broken my flying machine while trying to fix a loose bolt? Not to mention the many times it exploded while trying to fix it from fixing the bolt
If you’re broken for making those mistakes, then so am I, and Proto, and Rue, and everyone else. Then we can all be broken together
Every time I make an effort to fix my mistakes, it seems I only create more of them...
My siblings say it's inevitable. I don't know, maybe it is.
Or maybe I'm just broken.
I'm trying not to think that way. I know it isn't helping anyone, but these thoughts... never leave me for long. And there's only so much I can do to drown them out.
