THE BASILICA DE CEBU
When I was a child way back on my 6-10 age years every time, we go to basilica church when we got there I will always go to the house model and amaze by it. It is like when I go to that church, I just feel excited and happy. Maybe because it is the blessing of the church, the things that I could buy and the feeling of being in a huge city in the Cebu. The Minor Basilica of Sto. minor basilica known as Nino, or The Minor Basilica of the Holy Child in English, can be found in Cebu City, Philippines. It was established by the Spanish, led by Fr. On April 28, 1565, Andres de Urdaneta the Legazpi-Urdaneta expedition also arrived on the island of Cebu on the same day.
Minor Basilica of St. Nino is the Philippines' oldest established Roman Catholic church. It was constructed on the same spot where the Sto. Spanish explorers led by Miguel Lopez de Legazpi discovered the statue of the Child Jesus known as Nino de Cebu in 1565. The statue in question is the same one that Ferdinand Magellan presented to Rajah Humabon's wife as a gift forty years after Humabon converted to Christianity. His baptism took place on April 14, 1521. A soldier found the picture. After Legazpi destroyed the hostile native-populated village, it was kept in a box made of burned wood. The temple is known as the "Mother and Head of all Churches in the Philippines" by the Holy See. So honestly, the benefits of visiting this church are that you will be amazed by its history, receive a divine blessing, and behold its beauty. So come to Cebu and visit the Basilica Minore Del Sto. Nino here in Cebu City!
