a redesing of a DA creature thingy, I basically leaned more into his design inspiration, this cute little yellow white birds with red cheeks, and he somehow ended up looking like a flying type eeveelution. (His wings are no longer detached, just looks better imo, still sharp teeth but nolonger an overbite and much stronger colours in general)

The Twelve Kingdoms by Fuyumi Ono

Anime series and book colletion, also know as Juuni Kokuki. I'm still in the first book, but wishing to continue.

What is it about?

Yoko has been dragged to another world by a mysterious man. Due to some circusntances, they are separated and now Yoko has to survive on her own while trying to resolve the mystery around herself.

Reasons I like it...

I like the protagonist a lot, it is so flawed and so insecure. For the longest time, she's rejecting the world she was born from.

There's a character that doesn't want to go back home. Literally, she is doing everything she can to stay in this new world, because her life in earth was miserable.

I love the setting: people being born from trees, kirins choosing their leaders... It is nice to find some wordlbuilding that haven't used the usual niches.

The ceature design is beautiful.

sona disc dump

as my name implies i am indeed a cryptied fur named vættr (norse for creature :00) i generally explain my sona as a wolf goat hyprid type. but truly that doset do it justice. my sona is indeed a hybrid liek that, but it has a fuggin LONG ass furry flowy elligant tail, goat legs, wolf paws and ears. dragon like horns, all black coverd from head to hoof in eyes, but the main 4 are blind (two front wolf eyes, two side goat eyes) the mouth is loosely sewn shut with vines makeing it hard for the ceature to speak. and the only non impaired sense is hearing. tho its ears are also bloody massive. the horns are hung with vines and moss aswell as the hooves. and patches of moss along the lower legs and paws. the whole design is ment to visually reflect my personal struggles as a neurodivergent with sever dissociative disorder and sensory processing issues.

my brain may not be the most functional thing ever but it has produced a handful of badass bloodborne boss/ceature designs via dreams in the past 4 years so that’s definitely something it has going for it. i should make a compilation of all of them and hopefully i’ll get to add more in the future.

When reading the books, what came to my mind with demons was “creation”. Those who are successful seem to be a lost of artists and designers, but then Hamish is a finance wiz and some of the demons in the later books who are scientists who have an ability to look at things from different perspectives.

The show didn’t portray it very well, but the book is also very vague too....they’re supposedly the least understood of the ceatures, often sidelined from major decisions, and with no real structure within their group. And they’re born from anyone, so recognizing them is hard.

Gotta confess, I watched the entire first season of A Discovery of Witches and still have absolutely no idea what the demons can do or how they know they’re demons.
