Misconstruing The Truth

During the ranting and raving that is occurring in the CC fandom today, initiated with nipple-gate, this popped up and I can’t ignore it:  

geminess:  DITTO. I often wonder how this affects BOTH (C &D) re their emotional state of mind.  THIS IS FRIGGIN TORTURE!  

There really ought to be a LAW against this type of emotional abuse toward ANY human.  But I guess in THIS COUNTRY, #Money talks (and makes the rules) while performers/slaves have no say in their PRIVATE LIVES until the CONTRACT TERMS are adhered to and completed.

Prince tried to tell everyone years ago that entertainment corporations literally OWN their contractees (entertainers)…who, to this day, have little say over their lives…UNTIL the contract has expired.”

Okay...well let’s inject some common sense and facts into this post. 

Prince’s contract dispute with Warner Bros was over the release of his backlog of music and not a claim that corporations “literally OWN” the entertainers they have under contract. Prince was pissed because they refused to glut the market with his songs. That is a business decision and not in any way “controlling his life”. Prince had a large ego and that was a huge part of this contract issues.  

The 1992 contract, which included Warner/Chappell Music Publishing, covered six albums and allowed him to release up to one new album a year, a $10 million advance per album and a 25 percent royalty rate... But Prince still wasn't happy. "He really wanted to release the music in a way that was inconsistent with the contract," says Stiffelman. "He wanted to put out an album whenever the urge struck him, and it could be a three-song album or a 70-song album."(X)

“Warner Bros., which was home to his biggest successes, including 1984's 13-times-platinum Purple Rain soundtrack, gave Prince wide latitude, even pulling 1987's now-infamous Black Album from stores at his insistence after he had demanded its release. But in the late '80s and early '90s, he grew increasingly dissatisfied with the label, chafing at any perceived restraints, despite Warner Bros.' deserved reputation as the most artist-friendly label, an ethos that emanated from the office of CEO Mo Ostin down through the ranks” (X) .

More than once, Prince pleaded with a label ally, Warner Bros. vp special projects for black music Marylou Badeaux, to convince her bosses to let him release everything he brought to them, even if the record company was still marketing the previous album. "I would tell him that it was counterproductive, that people can only absorb so much music from one artist at a time," she says. "His answer was, 'What am I supposed to do? The music just flows through me.' "(X)

There are laws in place- the CC fandom has simply fabricate lies upon lies in order to dismiss every single law that could save Darren from the horrific fate bestowed upon him by F/ox and Rya/n Murph/y.    

There are HUGE differences between Prince’s contract disputes with Warner Bros and the CC bullshit about Darren’s contract with F/ox and Ry/an Mur/phy: 

Prince’s spoke out loudly about his contract issues with Warner Bros. and his issues were more about his ego than real contract issues   

In 1994, Prince started writing the word “Slave” across his face because he believed his label “was intent on limiting his artistic freedom by insisting that he releases albums more sporadically”.

Darren has never once claimed that there is a nefarious contract that controls his life

Darren has never hinted that there is a contract that controls his life

Darren has never claimed or even hinted that studios control actor’s lives 

Darren has never suggested or hinted that he feels the people he works with have taken advantage of him
