bon's thoughts (18+) a/n: anonsss i see your messages in my ask box, i might take a break from answering them cuz i got other... interesting thoughts LMFAO college!au daniel ricciardo who's partnered up with you for group project. only problem is that he's not doing any of his work. all he ever does is say something cheeky, wink at you and walk away to hang out with his friends. you hate him. you hate the way he sits next to you in class even though he knows you hate him, but he does it on purpose because he likes to see your reaction. you hate that he's always glancing at your answers when you're taking a test, and then boasting about how smart he is outside of the lecture hall. he never turns in his work, never texts you if he's done his part of a powerpoint and certainly doesn't respond when you're calling him at 3 in the morning, crying about how you need him to finish his slide or else you're going to get a bad grade because of him.
he always chooses you because he knows no matter what, you'll end up finishing his slides. and he merely is trying to finish inside you. he watches you cross your arms, bite your lips and frown when he's presenting to the other students. you're always unhappy with what he's doing, and he wants to see you with a smile on your face.
"a smile wouldn't hurt you know" he leans close to you to whisper into your ear. the both of you are at the library, sitting in the small cafe as you're editing your slide. you frown at him,
"you finish your slides and then i'll smile. we have to rehearse this before tomorrow. you wanna meet up somewhere this evening?" you ask.
"i'm busy this evening. what about at night? 1 am at the basketball court?" daniel asks and you scowl,
"that's across campus for me! and i know you're just gonna play basketball and not let me practice. why are you always my partner, i just don't get it, you're useless!" but you still agree, because it's either the basketball court, or no rehearsal at all.
you press record on your phone, because you like to record all your practice sessions, and you take a step back. your laptop's on the bleachers, and daniel walks over. he's sweating, having played basketball until you showed up, and he smiles at you. you don't reciprocate and roll your eyes, telling him to get started.
"remember, it's a presentation about pain vs pleasure. you need to be careful with what you say. i included extra examples on your slide, like cutting your finger on accident, and getting a good grade on your test. cuz you know serotonin is-" your words are tuned out of his mind, he's focusing on the part where you said pain vs. pleasure and he has a wicked idea in his head. he nods, contorting his face to look like he's deep in thought and listening to you intently. he takes off his cap and tosses it to the side before winking at you,
"i got this don't worry." and he turns to face the camera. surprisingly, he's doing well. very well, and that doesn't sit right with you. he never is this prepared, and the entire time you're staring at him with a look of shock. he turns to you with clasped hands, "may i perform a demonstration?"
and you're nodding your head, "of course, of course!" because you think he's being very serious and composed, you'll do anything as long as he's finally listening to you for once. he nods his head, standing behind you, and almost immediately he yanks your top up just enough for your tits to spill out and he watches them jiggle in front of the camera. the cold air of the night makes your nipples harden and as you're gasping in shock at what he's doing, he roughly takes your nipples in his hands and twists them, causing you to cry out.
"that's pain," he glances at the camera, before kneeling in front of you. he takes your areola in his mouth and begins to suck, rubbing your other nipple with his thumb. you let out a really quiet moan, a hand coming to grab the curls in his hair and he tears his mouth away from you juicy tit with a pop! "and that's pleasure!"
he crawls over to where your phone is and stops the recording, and glances back at you, leaning on his elbow with smile, "should we do some more rehearsals?"
and you're nodding your head like crazy.

Late Nights (Batman)
A/n: I am going to be writing a Bruce Wayne version, which is why Batman is in parenthesis.
“You know, it could be a few more hours until he comes back.” Alfred came from behind, placing a soft, cozy blanket over Y/n.
She smiled sweetly, humming as she brought the blanket up to her neck and snuggled deeper into the warmth.
“I know, but I don’t work tomorrow and it would be nice to greet him home from time to time when I can… especially tonight.”
Alfred nodded, leaning down he kissed the top of her head, he walked back to go upstairs and get ready for bed.
Y/n glanced over at the clock, 1:30AM. She sighed, Alfred was probably right, he probably wouldn’t be back for another few hours. However the stubbornness and determination was enough to give her the confidence to pull thru. Putting on a small show on the Batcave computer, she grabbed her coffee and snuggled deeper into his chair, waiting.
She wasn’t sure at what point she fell asleep, but the sound of the Batmobile screeching to a stop pulled her from her nice dream she was having. Still too tired to move, she brought the blanket closer to her face, her legs curled up to her chest as she tried to keep away from the cold air.
The sound of heavy boots echoed throughout the Batcave, getting closer to the chair she was snuggled in. When she heard them come to a halt next to her, she slowly opened her eyes as she came face to face to a pair of bright blue eyes looking back at her.
Bruce raised his gloved hand and brought it to the side of her cheek, stroking her face gently with his thumb. Y/n smiled, still fighting the sleep that was trying to pull her back into dream land. Glancing over at the clock she saw it now read 5:40AM.
She yawned, looking back to Bruce who was still wearing the make up around his eyes. He looked just as exhausted as she felt.
“Didn’t we talk about you not waiting up for me.”
“You talked about it, I remember listening for the most part.” Y/n shrugged. “Common, let’s go take a shower and then we can talk about it again.”
Bruce smirked, “right, because you and I both know I’ll wanna talk to you about it right after showering together.”
“Exactly!” Y/n stood up, taking his hand and leading him upstairs. “You have amazing self-control.” She teased.
“Not when it comes to you.” Bruce stated.
Y/n laughed, before they could get much further Bruce stopped in place, causing her to get pulled back. “What’s wrong?”
Bruce looked back to the clock. “It’s almost 6AM.”
“Yeah?”
Bruce looked back to her, feeling his grip on her tighten. He pulled her gently towards him, wrapping his other arm around her waist. Leaning down he kissed her gently, which Y/n was happy to receive.
When he pulled back Y/n looked up to him confused. “What was that for?”
“Happy anniversary.” Bruce said, kissing the top of her head he smiled at her expression. “Surprised I remembered?” He joked, although he knew it was fair if she didn’t think he would.
Y/n nodded, standing on her tippy toes and wrapping her arms around his neck, she gave him a little peck. “You’ve just been so busy, and then when the Justice League needed your help on top of the company putting you thru meeting after meeting… I don’t know, I wouldn’t have blamed you if you did.”
Bruce sighed, laying his head down on her shoulder he started to relax when he felt Y/n play with his hair. “I know, I’m sorry.”
Y/n shook her head, “you don’t have anything to be sorry about, common, let’s go take that shower and sleep for all eternity.”
“We can’t sleep for all eternity, we have dinner reservations tonight.” Bruce looked up to her, her cute confused expression made him laugh.
“Really?!” She asked, trying not to get her hopes up too high. “What about patrol tonight?”
“I called Clark, he owes me one.”
“You asked Superman to watch over Gotham for a night? Wow, you must really need to sleep.” Y/n couldn’t believe he actually asked him. “Fuck it, this is great!”
Bruce smirked, “don’t get used to it, we shall see if Superman can handle a night on the Gotham streets.” Taking her hands down from his neck, he interlocked his fingers with her, walking in front this time as he lead them upstairs.
“I give him till midnight before he breaks.” Y/n teased, following close behind, and excited for a night off.

MANEATER — CHAPTER 1
lee heesung x m!reader
chapter summary; heesung finds out his grandmother’s restaurant is in danger. his path seems cloudy until a strange man opens a new one that seems partly cloudy.
chapter warning; violence + flirting + crying
content genre; minor angst
wc. – 3.6 k | m.list | likes n comments appreciated
“thank you for your help,” the old man says with a bow.
“you’re welcome, i really hope everything goes well now,” heesung says with a bright smile.
he stares up at the sky, it’s a chilly morning. his cheeks are flushed with a red hue as he walks down the street. another case closed, he’s thankful. he’s barely making ends meet and now he’ll be in a decent financial spot for a while.
once he’s home he’ll be on to the next case. he’s making a twenty minute walk home, plus the ten it takes him to stop by the store.
by the time he’s home it’s dark. the street light flickers and he happily announces his arrival.
“ma! i won the case!” he announces happily.
his grandmother claps her hands as he exits the kitchen. “oh sung! your mother would be so proud if she were here!”
heesung’s smile tightens. he never really answers those remarks. there’s no point. he loved his mother when she was alive, same for his father. yet, they weren’t very supportive of his career choice.
“it’s expensive, sung-ah,” they’d say. “why not choose something else?”
maybe they would be supportive to see he actually did make it. the fact that they would’ve only when he is being successful is what hurts. they would’ve complained about it even when the tuition money came out of his own pockets. his whole life he’s grown up thinking he had to limit himself within the hole in their pockets.
he had enough. growth is done out of sheer will, desperation and self worth. survival is done by your own merits alone.
“we had a good day today at the restaurant,” his grandmother says. she must have been talking the whole time heesung zoned out. “but i’m afraid i’m going to have to let go of your friend jay. i can’t afford to pay for his hours anymore, business isn’t doing as good as it did back then…” she says sadly, “most of the earnings go to the bills…”
heesung stares at her, heart heavy. if only he had enough money to help her.
“i know ma…” he takes her hand and soothes her with a small rub from his thumb, “jay won’t mind, he was planning on getting a job closer to his place. he technically has been working with you since we’ve been in high school… it’s been almost 8 years?”
she sniffles, “well… i’ll talk to him tomorrow… i guess i’m just sad since the first one to leave was you… he’s almost like a son to me too…”
his heart throbs. “i’ll go shower, okay?”
she nods, “alrighty…”
she watches him leave with a saddened smile. knowing he’s starving, she makes him a plate of food. heesung comes back out a few minutes later, freshened up and hair damp still. he has a few folders under his arm.
“you’re going to keep working? aren’t you tired?”
“i’m okay ma, the shower freshened me up,” he says with a smile and settle’s everything on the table. “i get off early from the office tomorrow, i’ll pass by the restaurant for my lunch and i’ll help you out if you want.”
she stares at him, “only if you can.”
“i can and i want to.” he says before digging in to the files.
the problem with heesung is that when he starts his filing or researching, he does it for hours. at some point his grandmother wishes him good night and he’s still swarming in his own choice. it’s around 1 AM when he finally wraps it up. he washes the dishes, not wishing for his grandmother to worry about that when she wakes and then heads to bed.
he’s used to the lack of sleep, normally running on 4 to 5 hours of sleep daily and either coffee or an energy drink.
he’s running late to the office too. a natural occurrence. running short on cash normally causes him to walk… in this case run, to the office.
“ah, you’re a little over ten minutes,” sunoo teases when he walks inside the office.
“if jungwon fires me i wouldn’t hold it against him,” heesung breathes out as he wipes away the bead of sweat on his forehead.
“jungwon would rather you work from home than come here, even he hates it here.”
“i don’t want to work at home yet,” heesung argues, walking to his office, sunoo following suit. “i know i have to care for my grandma but she’s perfectly capable of herself right now. he already lets me leave for a few hours here and there to check on her at the restaurant.”
“that reminds me,” sunoo says, sitting on the chair opposite of heesung. “i want her bulgogi with lettuce. when am i getting that.”
heesung pauses, looking over at him with a look. “do you have bulgogi money?”
“grandma lee never charges me! how dare you take advantage of a broke receptionist.”
“well then tell her, not me!” heesung huffs, “aish. and get out, i have a few works to do before leaving at twelve.”
“i doubt you’ll leave at twelve, you always leave about an hour later-“
“out!”
sunoo sticks out his tongue before leaving.
heesung shakes his head, smiling a bit as he logs in to his computer to start his work. later, after hours of investing into it, he wraps it up at around 12:10. the time bitters his mood, realizing sunoo is indeed right. not exactly an hour later but still not on time.
still, leaving early is a privilege no one else has here, so he packs up his things and heads out.
he’s walking down the busy street, lunch rush evident outside the block just as it is when he enters it. he bows politely at some of the market people before calling his grandmother.
“ma~,” he sing songs when she picks up.
“yes?” she asks softly, almost as if she were whispering.
“i’m on my way, do you need me to pick up anything-“
“heesung maybe you should head back to the office.” she says, her tone strange.
“ah, but i said i’d help you today-“
“heesung just listen to me and get back to the office. i don’t need to here today, my love,” she catches a sweet tone quickly, as if seeking any way to convince him.
“huh? ma, why are you being so-“ heesung trails off as he nears the restaurant. there’s suspicious men out, he panics. “ma i’m already here, why are there so many men-“
“who are you talking to?” a rough voice says.
without a shred of hesitation, heesung sprints. he pushes past the men at the gates. when one of them pulls at his bag strap, he throws a punch at their nose before continuing his path. his heart is rabbiting in his ribcage. he truly is taken aback by what’s happening.
“ma? are you-“ he gets punched from the side.
if it weren’t for his quick reflexes he’d probably be on the floor, but he throws a punch right back the guy. a kick to the stomach and throat is what gets the guy on the floor. yet, before he can turn to his sweet grandmother, a cold metal item is pressed against his nape. he freezes.
“now tell me who the hell are you and why you knocked out two of my men already.”
heesung would’ve peed himself from fear if it weren’t for the anger and adrenaline. “your men fucking suck at taking a punch.”
“he’s my grandson!” mrs.lee cries out from a table.
“give me one good reason why i shouldn’t shoot him right now.” the man gruffs, a rough hand grabbing heesung’s arm, the grip painful.he moves heesung around to face the elder woman, “you got one minute.”
she’s practically pale from fear. “he’s a lawyer! he’ll help me pay the amount you're asking of me. h-he can double it if you’d even like.”
the fuck? heesung looks at her like she’s insane.
“a lawyer eh?” the man shoves heesung forward, harshly knocking him into the bench seats on the table his grandmother is in.
heesung catches himself and glares back at the man.
“listen, the rent for the restaurant is already five grand, bills and utilities included. but we won over this turf already, so you have to pay us to keep your little restaurant around. sadly, we don’t really want you to pay it, we’re buying this place and putting someone who works under us to have this as our meeting place. plus, your grandmother is old, she should retire already.”
heesung grits his teeth.
“you’ve got a few days to pay this months rent, our tax included, before we kick you out. and you either get kicked out without owing us money or you get licked out owing us the money, your choice.” he glares down at heesung, “and careful trying to go against us, it won’t be pretty.” he turns towards his men and gestures for their leave.
“they want to close the restaurant,” she says with teary eyes as soon as her and heesung are alone.
heesung stares at her before ripping the paper out of her hands. the demand is absurd. it’s sketchy but oh so believable. they know what they’re doing and exactly how to do it too. a few days? how many exactly? they don’t seem very lenient, if anything heesung is assuming three days at most.
“ma, this is…” he pauses, he can’t be brutal to her. “i’ll take care of it ma, remember, i’m the best lawyer you have ever met.”
she grabs his hand and rubs his knuckles with the pad of her thumb, her tears dripping down her face. “oh heesung…”
heesung is running to the office again. he had missed the bus, having checked and double, triple, quadruple checked the demand and whatever else is in that stupid paper they received last night. he looks horrendous, barely put together.
his grandmother had woken up as soon as she heard him cruse and run around to get ready. despite her emotional state, she prepared him a cup of coffee and cut him a slice of cake (she said it’s for sunoo but heesung doesn’t think the guy deserves it-)
heesung crashes face forward into a wall. actually, the wall isn’t that hard. he curses and almost loses his balance when he bounces back-
“woah there, you okay?” a voice asks, a hand coming behind his lower back to help him regain his balance.
“ah, my bad, i didn’t mean to!” heesung winces, seeing how the guy’s shirt is stained with coffee. the cake he was carrying in a small plate flew out to the floor but not without smearing itself on the man’s shirt.
all worry and panic leaves heesung when a few fingers grab his chin and force him to look to the side. is the guy fucking inspecting him?!
“that’s a nasty bruise you have there,” you say, darkened eyes gazing upon the purple thing.
heesung slaps your hand away, “couldn’t tell. please step aside, i have places to be.”
“oh? where would a pretty thing like you go in such a hurry?”
“none of your business,” heesung grits out.
this guy, heesung thinks bitterly in his mind.
“well i do have to remind you that you spilled coffee over my very expensive shirt. not just coffee, look i have chocolate smeared over right here-“
“okay i get it!” heesung groans as he watches you point out the very obvious. “i don’t got money though-“
“yet, you have coffee to go and-“
“my grandmother has a restaurant, i can get these things you know,” heesung grumbles, looking around in thought. “i could invite you to dinner.”
“oh a date,” you grin stupidly.
“forget it-“
“ah but you see this stain won’t let me forget-“
“argh!” heesung groans, slamming his head against the wall.
you watch him with amusement, “hey, now. don’t go messing up your whole face, i like what i see.”
“you’re an ass,” heesung huffs, “look, i really can’t entertain you for long. this is my grandmother’s restaurant,” he takes out a card and hands it to him, heesung always carries them around, never wasting an opportunity to promote. “just go there and tell her i invited you and she’ll understand.”
“oh? i won’t have the pleasure of seeing you?” you frown.
“hell no,” heesung blurts out. “i mean-“ ugh, maybe he should you look sketchy as fuck. “fine. i get off late today though.”
“just give me an estimated time,” you say casually, putting the card away in the pocket of your shirt. “and your name.”
“eight thirty,” he says. he eyes you before going, “heesung.”
you hum, eyeing him. he really is beautiful, how sad that he has a bruise on his cheek. cute too, with his furrowed brows and glare. “quite late for dinner, but i’ll take it.”
whatever, heesung huffs. “now if you excuse me i have to go.”
he walks around you before jogging back his path to the office. he’s so glad the coffee fell on you and not on him, as much as that sounds horrible. he can’t help it.
by the time heesung snaps out of all the work he’s in, it’s when his grandmother calls him. he curses through his teeth, realizing itself 9 PM already. is the guy there? shit, did he do something? he really was sketchy wasn’t he-
“heesung, my dear,” she says sweetly, “will you come by the restaurant?”
“is everything okay ma?” he asks immediately, ready to stand and run out without putting anything away.
“yes, yes. all good, but there’s a man that walked in earlier and asked if you were here already,” she says.
he swallows, “what did he look like?”
damn it, why is he asking? he doesn’t even remember what you look like, just that you’re a little taller than him but it’s not exactly by much. at least he doesn’t think so. yeah, he really can’t remember.
“mm, he was rather short, boxy and had a suit on.”
okay that definitely isn’t you though. “uh, i’ll head out right now.” there’s a silence on the other side of the phone after he announces that. he stops packing and questions her. “ma?”
“it’s… going to be hard isn’t it?” grandmother asks.
heesung fidgets, “don’t worry about it ma, i’m coming back to the office tomorrow. i’ll leave really early, this will be over as soon as possible.”
“okay, be safe on your way.”
“will do.”
would the men really try anything outside the restaurant? he genuinely doesn’t know. he can’t help but glance around every now and then as he goes down the street. it’s crowded tonight but even in movies a crowd is the best distraction. ah, he really is screwed isn’t he? he has no evidence, no information.
he really won’t be of any use, will he? even for his grandmother?
heesung stares at his shoes as they walk on the pavement. what will he do? what can he do?
he looks up when he’s finally close to the restaurant, turning the corner. seems like no customers tonight- his heart drops when he’s yanked from behind. he expected a knife or a gun pressed against him but when his eyes catch your devilish smile, he gets angry.
“FUCK,” heesung gasps, looking at you like you’re insane. he shoves you before yelling, “the fuck you scared me for?”
you chuckle, amused at his reaction. “you must have a lot on your mind to have not noticed you even pushed me aside a minute ago.”
“what?” he goes droopy, looking back at the path he came. there’s a car parked down the street there. did he really not see you? “well, whatever. come on, let’s get something to eat.”
“you’re hungry?” you ask, enjoying his personality already.
he guides you past the gates, but something catches your eye when he pushes one of the gate doors to a complete openness.
“oh heesung! you’re here!” a voice chirps happily from a few feet away.
“ah, ma i brought someone with me and we’ll get something to eat if you don’t mind.” he says, bowing at her figure that pops up at the door.
“of course, you don’t have to ask for permission.”
heesung smiles brightly at her before turning to you. you take him aback, however.
“may i speak with you out here for a moment?” you say, cold and with a dark expression.
heesung stares at you, confused at how quickly your mood changed. “uh, sure?” he turns to his grandmother who’s sweeping, “ma, we’ll be outside, give us a minute!”
“okay, love,” she says, continuing her way to sweep away.
heesung follows you when you take a few steps away. “what is it? my grandmas cooking is good, don’t tell me you’re backing out just because it’s not a high end restaurant-“
“did you get that bruise from a man named si-hyeong?”
everything shifts under heesung. what the hell are you talking about? he takes a moment to eye you up and down. one; he doesn’t know your name. two; who the hell is si-hyeong? three; what the fuck.
“uh…”
“better yet, did one of his men hurt you?”
“i don’t know who your talking about- and, why are you asking-“
you point at a small graffiti design on the floor, just under the gate door and extremely close to its hinges. how the hell you saw that, he doesn’t know. even he can’t exactly see it that well.
“tell me, did they threaten your grandmother?”
heesung snaps his eyes back at you. “i… yeah…”
with a nod, you look around. “may i ask what you work as?”
heesung narrows his eyes. “first, tell me your name. don’t lie to me either.”
you stare at him, “my name is l/n y/n.”
“okay, and before i tell you what i do depends on what you tell me.”
a small smile plays on your lips. “i’m simply from an organization that can help you keep your grandmother’s restaurant and get those men off your necks depending on your answer.”
heesung chews on the inside of his cheek. you really are sketchy. “i’m a lawyer.”
“who’s barely making ends meet if i remember correctly,” you tease.
“fuck you,” heesung huffs.
“well, lawyer heesung,” you say, stepping real close to heesung’s personal bubble. “if you help me, i’ll help you. i’m assuming they’ve given you a short amount of time to pay whatever absurd thing they’ve requested.”
heesung eyes you before nodding, for some reason he feels like you’re decently trustworthy. “yeah… but what is it?” you raise a brow, he elaborates. “what do you need?”
“a couple of things,” you smile, “but first i need to speak to the sweet lady that owns this place.”
heesung grants you just that.
“you’re quite the handsome man, are you a friend of heesung?” grandmother lee asks.
you stare at the elderly lady, eyes narrow. “you could say that.”
she smiles, placing a cup of coffee in front of you. you watch the steam before gently taking it, bowing respectfully at her in thanks. heesung sighs, sitting next to you on the small couch.
“mrs.lee, i’m working with heesung in your case, i had a question to make.” you say decisively.
she looks at you with a startled expression. “oh! go ahead,” she smiles.
“when did they come to threaten you about paying more in your bills?” you eye her, hands on the coffee mug. “on your rent?”
heesung looks at you annoyingly before facing his sweet grandmother with a soft expression. he doesn’t know why a knot forms in his throat when she stops smiling.
“yes… a man came in a few weeks ago, maybe even a month or two ago, saying i had to pay more. an absurd price….” she looks down.
heesung’s brows furrow. when did this happen? why hasn’t she told him? he naturally looks over at you, who has an indecipherable expression.
“and did you pay it?”
her eyes water, “i had to… he and his men said if i didn’t then they’d hurt my boys.”
“your boys?” you ask, unsure of who she means other than heesung.
“my best friend works with her, she technically raised us both,” he elaborates gently. “ma, why didn’t you tell me? is that why you told jay to-“
“you won’t have to worry about those men coming to threaten you anymore,” you say, eyes boring into her. “because i know they have.”
she nods, confessing the issue. heesung can’t believe this. his poor grandmother has been suffering from such goading. he won’t stand by it. with a kiss of reassurance on the forehead he sends her to bed, staying back to watch you go. you ended up not getting a meal, requesting a coffee instead. you had promised her to return soon for a meal though.
“so we start tomorrow, right?” he says as he guides you out the house.
the height difference is a little noticeable as you stand by the gate and look down at him. the street light casting a shadow on heesung from your frame. your eyes are intense, he realizes they always are.
“i’ll pick you up?” you smile, expression changing.
he’s unsure if it’s creepy or amusing. “uh, i’ll get there on bus. just send me the address.”
“it’s really far.”
“yeah.”
“you could get lost, it’s also really secluded.”
“okay.”
“it would be more efficient if i send someone to pick you up-“
“i don’t care! just send me the address! i’ll be there at 9 exact! don’t look down on me you piece of shit.” he huffs before spinning around and leaving you outside the house gates.
you smile as his figure disappears inside the house. it might seem you’ll get more than what you’re looking for.

Warnings: cursing, maybe a little bit of suggestive language.
Word count: 2079 words.
Having Katsuki as a roommate proved to be not that bad. He was almost never home apart from most evenings, and when he was home, he minded his own business.
It’s not like he didn’t acknowledge you to be under his same roof, he was a decent guy, even if he swore a lot.
After sleeping in the guest room for a month, he painted it like he said he would at the beginning, and it took him 3 days. He had to sleep on the couch to not inhale the fumes, and you heard him cursing every morning.
“Can you keep it down? Jeez, it’s 7 am” you say coming out of your room, having heard the commotion in the living room.
“You have to change this shit of a couch. My back hurts so fucking much. My feet don’t even fucking stay on the couch while I sleep ‘cause of how fucking small it is” he barks at you.
“Not my fault you’re big” you say yawning, while rubbing your eyes and going straight towards the coffee machine. You hated having early lectures.
He scoffs. You widen your eyes, shooting him a mean look.
“I meant to say you’re tall” you add.
“Huh? And what would even be the other meaning? Freak” he says flipping you off and sitting himself at the table.
“Whatever” you mumble, putting your coffee in a cup.
“Give me some” he says stretching his hand.
“Make it yourself, big guy” you reply, sticking your tongue out and going towards your own room.
“OI! And here I was about to make you breakfast in exchange” he loudly says.
You turn around and smile at him sweetly. “Roomieeee you didn’t have toooo” you say, trying to hug him.
You know he hates physical contact. He told you so after you accidentally touched his hand passing him the salt one day at dinner. He jumped out of his chair like he was burned by your touch.
“GET OFF OF ME YOU GREMLIN!”.
Meanwhile, things at work could be going better. Your manager came back the day after your talk with Kirishima, and saying that she was pissed off and nervous at the same time would be an understatement.
For the weeks after, she was nicer than she ever was with the clients, but meaner with you and your colleagues. Bitch.
One day you’re cleaning the milk machine when Momo comes behind you.
“I heard the boss came to know about her little escapades and he wasn’t happy” she whispers in your ear.
You throw her a sneaky look before admitting “it might be my fault”.
Momo gasps. “What? Why haven’t you told me anything?” she whisper yells now.
“Shh! It happened last month. You know the guy with the spikey red hair?” you ask her, and she nods.
“Apparently, he’s the boss’s right hand. He told me the boss needed her and I told him she left” you calmly explain.
“I hope she doesn’t come to know it was you who told him that. She’s already making our life a living hell” she sighs.
“Whatever” you say rolling your eyes. “I’m clocking out, see you tomorrow?”.
“As always, babe”.
While you’re going out, you shoot a text to your new roommate. You’re feeling lazy, but you don’t want to feel lazy alone.
You: ordering takeout right now. Do you want something?
Katsuki (roommate): who dis
You: Katsuki are you for real?
You: I’m your roommate
You: you didn’t even save my number?
Katsuki (roommate): wtv
Katsuki (roommate): get me wings
Katsuki (roommate): extra spicy
You: sorry, who’s this???
Katsuki (roommate): petty bitch
Katsuki (roommate): im locking the door
You: I’m calling the firefighters down the street and you’re gonna pay for the new door then
Katsuki (roommate): just get me fkn wings woman
You roll your eyes. This man is insufferable.
“What are you doing Saturday night?” you say while munching on your chips on the couch.
Katsuki is cooking dinner for the both of you. He’s been living with you for the past 4 months now. You’ve grown accustomed to his antics, and he’s done the same with yours. For example, he knew how you tended to overcook his eggs. And since he hated that, he cooked them himself, just like he was doing right now.
“Hopefully not seeing your ugly face” he grumbles. He watches you over his shoulder and puckers his lips. “Why are you so fucking disgusting? I always find crumbs of everything on that fucking couch”.
You roll your eyes. “Just answer the question, Bakugou”.
“Not gonna be home. I have to run errands at work. You bringing some scum over? I’m not cleaning stains on top of your shitty crumbs on that couch”.
He’s not paying attention to what you do anymore, cutting up vegetables.
“And I’m the disgusting one? Ew” you cringe. “Ochaco and I wanted to have girl’s night. It’s been a while since we’ve done that, but her roommates are at home”.
“Short girl, brown hair, round face?” He asks.
“Yeah”. You’re surprised he remembers, but it’s true that you’re basically always calling her.
“Don’t mind. When’s your next shift? You’re next on the “cleaning the bathroom” list”. He adds.
You barely ever talk about work: he said that he’s some type of accountant and he knows you’re some kind of barista. After all, you both don’t care about what the other does if you both still pay rent on time.
You like these little moments you have with him. They don’t happen that often, but it’s like you’re bonding over time. He doesn’t look like he thinks the same, though. Most of the time he voices that you’re “pissing him the fuck off with all your stupid fucking questions”.
“Tomorrow morning, and then on Sunday. It’s weird now that my ex-manager isn’t around anymore, our schedules are much more organised. I wonder why she got fired” you say thoughtful.
Katsuki stiffens up. Your manager has been fired the same week he fired Camie? Must be a coincidence, a lot of extras are shitty workers anyways. He shrugs it off.
He turns abruptly to face you and he scares you so bad you throw the chips in the bowl lying on your lap on your face. He laughs like a maniac.
“Why did you do that?! I get it, you’re a clean freak! Okay! I’ll clean the damn bathroom!” You angrily say.
“Curry is ready, rat” he says, wiping his tears.
“Great, now I’m a rat too?”. Katsuki has this bad habit of always forgetting names and just giving everyone mean nicknames.
“With all those cheese chips on your face? Yes, dumbass” and he starts laughing again.
“It’s all your fault!” you whine, and then help him set the table. You might be annoyed, but you know his curry is bomb.
You’re so happy to be free from Camie’s claws that you and Ochaco drink more than you normally do on Saturday night.
You’re both lying lazily on your bed when she’s telling you about her new boyfriend. He’s the same guy from that one physics assignment (which, by the way, you didn’t fail), and she calls him Deku.
“I swear you’d like him Y/N. He’s so shy, but his arms are so biteable” she dreamily sighs.
You look up at the ceiling before answering “and what’s the correlation between any of the statements you just made?”.
She throws you a punch. “Why are you lucid still? Just… blabber!” she complains.
You chuckle. “I’m so getting an aspirin for tomorrow morning, for both me and you. Just go under the covers and sleep while I’m gone, okay?”.
She nods and you stand up, wobbling towards your kitchen.
“You know, you still haven’t delved into how good or bad things are going with your new roommate” she suddenly says. “You know I need the details”.
You lean on the wall next to your door for some stability before thinking about it.
“He’s good, I guess. We talk here and there when we’re both home, he told me he’s enrolled in economy. He seems rough but he knows how to cook some bomb ass curry, so I’ll keep him” you sluggishly reply. Damn, you really drank too much.
“Yeah Y/N you’ve told me this much. But do you find him hot? Did any of you just enter the bathroom not knowing the other was in it?” your best friend mumbles.
“He locks the door before doing anything” you roll your eyes, then wince because it has hurt your head.
“He’s mean, but he takes the time to be a good roommate I guess? I’d like to know him more than he lets others know, yeah, but he’s not very talkative. To be honest, I think that he’s scared to let people in. I’m probably too invasive for him” you ramble on.
“Did you even hear what I said?” you ask after the silence stretches too long, but the only things replying to your question are your best friend’s snores.
You sigh, then continue going to your kitchen.
It takes a while for you to find the medicine, and when you do, you hear your front door being opened.
With your mind still hazy, you recognise Katsuki’s figure.
“Hi” you tell him.
“Hello? God, you reek. You’re becoming a rat more and more each day” he roughly says while getting his coat off and on the hanger.
“How was work?” you continue, ignoring his comment.
He looks you up and down. He thinks you look kinda cute with your cheeks tinted pink and your hair ruffled, but he’s really tired. “Good, mind your fucking business though. I’m gonna sleep”.
You look hurt for a second, then relax your features. He always answers this way.
You take a good look at him. The light that enters from the window behind your couch makes his face barely visible; with the moonlight as your only aid, you take a moment longer than usual to just stare at him. Broad, blonde, big shoulders, a light scowl on his face, red eyes that seem to follow your every move. Maybe, in his next life, he could be a hero.
“Has anyone ever told you that you’re, like, really pretty?” you stumble out.
He looks at you like you’ve just said the dumbest thing ever.
“What the fuck are you saying? Just let me go to sleep and go do whatever the fuck you were doing before”.
“I said you look really fucking hot, Katsuki” you repeat, kind of annoyed. “It’s not like I asked you to cut your hand and offer your blood for a sacrifice, fuck. Why do you have to be so rude?” you spit out.
He’s surprised. “That’s not the words you used the first time. Pretty and hot don’t mean the same thing” he says, faking that he hasn’t heard your outburst, while stepping closer to you.
“Whatever” you mumble.
He stops in front of you. Maybe he’s been kind of rude lately because the situation at work hasn’t been the best. He fired Camie because he repeatedly heard she wasn’t capable of doing anything good on top of being mean to her colleagues, but finding another manager was stressing him out. He wanted to fire her as soon as he came to know her behaviour the first time, but Kirishima said neither of them had enough time to deal with her father. As much as this infuriated him, he was right. They were in their last year, and university wasn’t gonna finish itself.
You’re looking up at him with a scowl. “Let’s both go to sleep, m’kay? You don’t know what you’re saying” he says, nicer than any other time he talked to you. In the back of your mind, you notice he isn’t cursing anymore.
You keep on mumbling something and almost trip on your feet trying to get to your room.
You’re about to fall when he picks you up bridal style and goes to get you in your room himself.
Just before you fall asleep in his arms (how strong is he? He’s not even straining) you put your head on his shoulder.
“Thanks, sorry, I’m really drunk. I didn’t want to invade your privacy” you say.
He just shushes you up before telling you to sleep.
And just before you pass out, you notice he smells faintly like coffee.

The Au Pair Boy Part 5
Hey! This will take a short break until December then it will begin posting on Fridays to take place of The Hellfire Exotic Club.
In this we have all Robin and Steve with a little cameo of Chrissy. Steve just needed a little bestie time.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
~
Steve stared at the little black card in his hand. He had waited until he had gotten one in his name before using the account, even though Eddie had said that he was already an authorized user and the bank had been told that Steve would be using it immediately.
He just didn’t feel comfortable with doing so. So Eddie had one overnighted to him to make sure he could get whatever he needed as soon as possible. It was his first day off since Eddie left, Steve having refused to take one until he was sure the girls could handle it.
So here he was with his best friend standing outside of an Ikea with a black credit card and a dawning sense of dread.
“If I go in there,” he huffed, “I’m never coming back out again. You know that right? These places are cursed.”
Robin burst out laughing. “I think the power of your newly minted black credit card will act as a talisman of getting lost by the power of capitalism.”
“If you say so,” Steve scoffed. “If I don’t escape, I am totally blaming you, I hope you know that.”
She grabbed his arm and pulled him toward the entrance. “Come on, you big baby.”
They were looking at sheets when she spoke up again. “I think it’s really cool he’s allowing you decorate your room.”
Steve chuckled as he weighed the two options in his hands. “I think it’s because he really wants me to stay. If I put effort into my own space and get really settled in, I’ll be less likely to want to move.”
“Any spicy texts from ‘Daddy’?” Robin asked wagging her eyebrows suggestively.
“No.” He bumped her with his hip. “Knock that off. Yes, he is hot and sweet and funny, but I’m not going got cross that line. Especially not with him currently traveling the country with his metal band.”
“That’s too bad,” she pouted.
Then his phone rang. He put the dark blue sheets in the cart and the light blue ones back on the shelf and then he answered the call.
“Hey, Chrissy,” he greeted. “What’s up?”
“I hate to call you on your day off, Steve,” she began. “But Joanie can’t find her elephant plushy and she’s on the verge of a meltdown.”
Steve pinched his nose and sighed. “That’s because she insisted she wanted to bring Mr. Puff and Stuff, her wolf plushy instead. Snuffymuffie is still out the house.”
The sound of absolutely agony echoed through the phone line. Steve could almost feel her soul leaving her body from here.
“It’s on her bed with all her other plushies,” he assured her. “And when I come pick them up tomorrow I’ll bring mint ice cream.”
“I love you, Steve Harrington,” she breathed. “You are a saint among men!”
“No, just a seasoned nanny,” Steve replied with a chuckle. “Now go on before she decides that you’re ignoring her pain and starts wailing.”
Then wailing could be heard at full volume through the phone causing even Robin to wince from the sheer sound of it.
“Too late.”
Steve stared at his phone for a moment or two after she disconnected. He turned to Robin. “How is this my life now?”
“Don’t ask me,” she said with her hands up. “That couldn’t be me. I like kids in short spurts not long hauls.” She pointed to the phone in his hand with her chin. “So who was that then?”
“Chrissy Cunningham,” he replied pocketing his phone and pushing the cart forward. “She’s Eddie’s manager. Usually she goes with them when the band tours, but for the first little bit he wanted someone who the girls knew close on hand.”
“So why didn’t she take the kiddos?” Robin said, falling instep next to him.
“Because she still works,” Steve said. “So she can’t watch them during the day. Plus, Eddie had been wanting to get a live-in nanny for awhile. So this solved both problems.”
“Do you miss it?” Robin asked. “Having your own space?”
Steve wasn’t sure what she meant. He had his own space and told her so. That was what they were shopping for after all. Decorating his space.
“I meant an apartment of your own,” she said a little exasperated. “Like you really don’t have any freedom. It’s not like you can paint it all pink with white fruit everywhere.”
“I could actually,” Steve said with a shrug. “Though the example Eddie used was neon orange with brightly color rainbow dicks everywhere.”
Robin blinked at him for a moment. “But what if the girls saw that?”
“It would probably be explained as a banana and a couple of peaches or whatever,” Steve said, waving her off. “But that’s not the point. The point is that if I wanted to buy a racing car bed and make everything chrome, I could. I just don’t want to. It’s a gorgeous room, I want to add to it, not make it into a hellscape or whatever.”
“So what’s with all the nautical stuff, then?” she asked picking up the back of fake seashells.
“It’s very dark wood and deep blues,” he explained snatching them back from her tossing them back into the cart. “I makes me feel like I’m sailing on the ocean. But I also want to give it a haunted vibe, too. To go with the rest of the house.”
“I’m really going to have to see this place,” she huffed.
Steve stared at her for a moment. “I thought that was the plan. I thought you were coming over after we were done shopping to help me set everything up.”
“I wasn’t sure I was allowed to be there when it was just you,” she said with a half shrug.
“I’m allowed to have friends over,” he replied, rolling his eyes. “If I break anything, he just asks that I let him know. He’s got four year old twins, like I’m pretty sure anything fragile or expensive was put away a long time ago.”
Robin blinked for a moment as she processed that thought. “Right. What was I thinking?”
“You weren’t,” Steve huffed. “Now come on there are ten million miles to get through and I would like get through this before I die of old age.”
She scoffed but let him lead her through the store as he asked for her opinion on some things and to get her to mock others.
By the time they reached the check out, their cart was overflowing with all sorts of fun things for his room. Or rather, as Steve had learned. Wing. An entire fucking wing of the house was his. It had his bedroom, the bathroom, a small sitting room/library, and fucking kitchenette for entertaining guests.
He paid with the card Eddie had given him, both Robin and the cashier’s eyes went wide.
The cashier kinda gave him the stink-eye, like ‘what are you doing in an I-fucking-kea with a card like that?’ But Steve steadfastly ignored her and grabbed his packages.
“Why did we go to Ikea?” Robin asked as she helped load up his car with the stuff he bought.
“Because what I wanted was here,” Steve said rolling his eyes. “More expensive doesn’t equal better quality.” He slammed the trunk closed and got into the driver’s seat.
She rolled her eyes back at him, but wisely said nothing. He was the one with the ultra credit card and she wanted nachos from her favorite Mexican restaurant, something she would not get if she pushed Steve too far with the card. She could tell he was uncomfortable having it, so it was sure bet Eddie had insisted.
When they got to the house, Robin was in awe. She could see why Steve had fallen in love with the place. It gave off that tastefully haunted vibe of the Addams Family. Inside was even cooler as Steve showed her around. The only places they didn’t go were the Munsons’ bedrooms and Eddie’s studio and office.
But Robin was okay with that when she saw the game room, and the movie theater and the swimming pool and the actual fucking library. Here was a guy who took his money and put it to tasteful use.
“This is really neat,” she said as she flopped on the sofa in Steve’s study. “And this all yours?”
“Until they get old enough not to need me,” Steve said with a shrug. He began putting things away on the shelves. “Which is probably at least ten years off, maybe more if I’m really lucky.”
“Here’s to that,” Robin said, impressed. “Is he looking for another nanny? Because damn, I’d love a sweet place like this.”
“No,” Steve said and smacked her with his dust rag. “Get up on your feet and help me Missy!”
She leapt to her feet to get away from the dusty rag. “I surrender! I surrender!” She opened the first box and got to work sort things into proper piles so Steve could them away as he went.
“He’s looking for almost everything else though,” Steve said as he put books on the shelves. “Like everything else. A gardener or two, a couple of grounds maintenance guys, a cook, a pool cleaner, a couple of maids. All that sort of stuff.”
“Wow,” Robin said, opening another box, “that’s pretty much everyone. What happen, he fire everyone at once?”
Beat.
“Wait, what?” she said, whipping her head up to look at him. He was looking at the floor biting his lip. “What happened?”
“His ex slept with everyone on the staff who would let him,” Steve mumbled, “and those he didn’t sleep with kept it from him. With having no one trust, he just got rid of all of them.”
“Holy shit,” Robin hissed. “Way to upend the kiddos’ entire lives.”
“Ethan or Eddie?” Steve said with a shrug and grabbed the nearest pile of books to start shelving.
“Oh, totally the ex,” Robin hissed, “what an asshole. And the fact that all of them colluded to keep it from Eddie? That’s the major dick move. How long has he been struggling to do it all on his own?”
“About a year,” Steve replied absently as he tried to decide whether or not ‘Good Omens’ would go under G for Gaiman or P for Pratchett. He decided on Pratchett since it was the name on top. “I think his friends staged an intervention a la reunion tour to force him to move forward with his life.”
She snorted and shook her head. “Men. I am so glad I’m not attracted to them. Emotionally stunted morons. Well most of them anyway.”
“Anyone can get overwhelmed, Robs,” he huffed picking up his last stack of books. “I’ve gotten a few prospects for the yard and swimming pool.”
“Yeah, I was noticing how overgrown everything was,” she agreed, “even if the vibe was haunted house.”
Steve sighed and plopped down next to her. “I didn’t even show you what the gardener’s shed looked like or the pool house. He really let everything go in his grief. He didn’t say anything to me, but you can tell he took the break up really hard. This was his person. The one he thought he was going to spend the rest of his life with. And then Ethan went and blew it all up with no explanation, just a gigantic mess to clean up.”
“Well, I’m glad he has you,” she said bumping him with her shoulder. “And I was only joking about the being hired too. As long as I get to visit this place and hang out by the pool on occasion, I’ll consider it even.” She held out her hand and Steve took it with a smile.
“I think we’re all done in here,” he said standing up and dusting off his knees. “Bedroom is next.”
Robin got up and looked around his little study. “I’m happy for you, Steve. I think you’re going to be really happy here.”
Steve smiled. “I already am. I know it’s only been a week since Eddie left and ten days since I was hired, but I really don’t want to screw this up.”
She hugged him tight. If anyone deserved a fairy tale ending it was her platonic soulmate. Now all she had to do was convince him to get flirty with the hot frontman of Corroded Coffin and her boy would be set for life.
They walked into the bedroom and got to decorating it. When they were done, she flopped down on the queen size bed, spread eagle.
“We should order in and watch horror movies on that massive screen,” she suggested, staring up at the ceiling.
Steve cocked his head to the side and tapped his lips thoughtfully. “Make it pizza and you’ve got yourself a deal.”
“Fine!” she huffed, seeing her dreams of loaded nachos flutter away.
He kicked her foot, causing her to sit up abruptly. “Buy your own nachos, you big baby. You have a job. Or at least you did yesterday, so unless there is something you’d like to tell me you can get your own.”
“You’re a real bitch, Steve Harrington,” she huffed, hopping off the bed. “Tell me again why I like you?”
“Because you get to watch Jamie Lee Curtis in full high definition projection,” he said, giving her a kiss on the cheek and then walked out of the room.
“Wait!” she huffed, scrambling to catch up. “He has the original ‘Halloween’? You can’t just drop that on me and run, Harrington!”
Steve giggled as he ran down the stairs, with Robin hot on his heels. He cut a corner tightly, causing her to careen into the opposite wall.
“Curse you and your jock reflexes!” she hissed as she pushed herself off the wall to continue her chase.
By the time she had caught up with him, he was already on the phone with the pizza place. “At least get something with vegetables! You don’t want scurvy!”
“And one medium raspberry lemonade and one large cherry limeade,” he said with a wink at her. “Yes that will be all.”
“All that sugar!” Robin huffed. “I don’t know how you don’t kill over from sugar shock or something with all the sweet stuff you eat and drink.”
“Because I exercise and eat right most of the time,” Steve said back. “Diet culture is such BS, your body needs sugar to function. It’s why I put it in my tomato sauce when I make it from scratch.”
“Betrayal!” she cried and flopped on the sofa. She tilted her head for a moment and then melted into said sofa. “This is a really soft sofa, Steve. Everything here is so soft. I don’t know why but I pictured everything being so hard and stiff and uncomfortable.”
“Eddie certainly isn’t your stereotypical rich guy,” Steve agreed. “And I think this place was soft before the girls, because I think Eddie likes soft.”
Robin looked at her best friend fondly. She could tell he was already in love with this Eddie, he was just very deep in denial.
They had their movie night complete with pizza and drinks. One of the pizzas even had vegetables on it. For her. And when Steve dropped her off the next morning, she was content in her knowledge Steve wasn’t just going to do well there, he was going to thrive.

surprise pt 2 - nh13
pairing: nico hischier x girlfriend!reader warnings: swearing :) word count: 900 authors note: still no smut! who am I? might write some more in this little universe but not at the moment. enjoy <3 part 1
Nico opened the car door for you and took your hand as you stepped out the car. The cool wind caused goosebumps to form on your arm. At least you thought it was from the wind. It could have been the nerves. You were about to walk into your first event with Nico and he had staked his claim of you by the necklace you wore.
“We’ve got this, Schatzi,” Nico whispered in your ear, trying to comfort you. “We walk in, head straight to the bar and there will be a Long Island iced tea in your hand before you know it. Trust me.”
You didn’t have an option. You had to trust him. Nico’s large hand enveloped yours, lacing his fingers between yours and the pair of you walked into the event.
It seemed as though time stopped when you made your way into the venue. The captain had brought a plus one. And it was you. You tried to breathe deeply and relax as Nico walked you towards the bar.
The sound of cards being shuffled and dice being rolled slowly picked up again as Nico slid his credit card across the bar to pay for a cocktail for you and a beer for him. Both of you needed a drink of alcohol before dealing with any of his teammates or their plus ones.
You had barely taken a sip of your drink before your sister had found you and Nico and she’d dragged Luke along with her. Alex was dressed to the nines and was definitely wearing a dress that was double your monthly wage but she looked stunning. The rose necklace that you had bought her for Christmas the year before sat high on her neck and another one sat slightly lower on her neck. You deduced that it was one that Luke had bought her when you worked out that the pendant wasn’t just a random shape, it was a lower case L.
“If you’d have told me Nico had invited you, I wouldn’t have suggested Dawson,” Alex huffed as she looked you up and down to take in your outfit. “And we could have gone dress shopping. I’d have spent more if i knew it was going on cap’s card.” She folded her arms over her chest in mock disgust.
“Nico didn’t invite me initially,” you enlightened her as you sipped on your cocktail. Alex raised an eyebrow at you, slightly confused. Then she noticed it. The necklace.
“You’re fucking cap?” She almost shouted, slightly confused but more impressed that you’d kept it a secret.
“Not just fucking,” Nico interjected. “There are some times where we just cuddle.” You glared at your boyfriend as he just smirked at Alex and Luke.
“How long?” Alex questioned you by shoving a finger into your chest.
“Nine months,” you meekly replied, not too sure how she’d take it.
Alex’s eyes widened. “Nine fucking months. I think I need a moment. Luke, smack your captain for me.” Alex turned around to the bar, ordered a shot of tequila and drank it in record time.
Luke looked conflicted. He wanted to smack Nico for Alex but at the same time, he knew that Nico could put him through the wringer at practice tomorrow. His body couldn’t take that. So he made the decision to lightly smack Nico on the shoulder.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Alex whined. “We tell each other everything.” Her puppy dog eyes came out and you melted at them instantly.
“We just wanted to see how it went,” you explained, hands gesticulating. “Then the right time just didn’t appear. Until now, when you tried to get me to come with Dawson.”
“Excuse me for thinking that my sister needed a good fuck,” Alex rolled her eyes. “But I’m happy for you, but don’t think we’re not having brunch at the weekend to discuss everything.”
“Text me the details,” you pulled Alex into your arms for a tight hug. “I’m sorry I didn’t say anything,” you whispered.
“It’s okay, I understand,” she tightened her grip on you before releasing you. “Enjoy your first event, and apologise to Dawson!”
Alex and Luke turned around and she dragged him to one of the poker tables to inevitably lose more money than he intended. Your eyes scanned the room. Everyone had gone back to doing what they were doing before you and Nico walked in. Jack was shuffling cards for a game of blackjack, John had a tray of drinks in his hands and was delivering them to different patrons of the event. Every person you looked at had a smile on their face and it made the corners of your lips turn up into a gentle smile.
Nico moved to stand by your side, wrapping an arm around your waist.
“That could have gone a lot worse,” he sighed as you rested your cheek on his arm.
“And I’m thankful Alex understood,” you replied softly. You angled your head up and Nico pressed a gentle kiss to your lips.
“Oi! Just because I’m okay with it, doesn’t mean you can kiss in front of me!” Alex shouted from across the room.
All you could do was roll your eyes. You were in the presence of the man you loved and friends and family who cared about you so much.

Starting Over Again Chapter 9 - Final Chapter
Catch up here, starting with Chapter 1
Back to Chapter 8
Warnings: Violence, angest, injury
Chapter 9 – FINAL CHAPTER
Lee was staring angrily at the computer screen, then he spotted a new post.
“Look who's in Galveston! Are we expecting bad weather?” The post was followed by a video of you with Tyler in the truck.
“Maybe you can run, but you can't hide.” he seethed, grabbing his truck keys.
* * * *
It's been a week since you and the team arrived at the beach house. Everything was quiet, almost normal. Normal except that none of you were chasing storms. You weren't doing your job and everyone was itching to get back to work.
“There's going to be a big outbreak this weekend back in Oklahoma.” Boone stated.
You take Tyler's hand in yours, “If you are feeling up to it, I say let's go.” you smile.
He took a deep breathe. They couldn't run forever and they couldn't hide forever. They WOULDN'T. He wasn't going to let this asshole run your life. They were going to live their life and if Lee dared show his face again, then Tyler would beat his ass. Besides, it would be the whole team together. Six to one put the odds in your favor. Finally he nodded, “I say let's go.”
“Alright!” Lily cheered. Everyone had enjoyed their week at the beach. It was a much needed little trip to rest and recharge after everything that had happened, but now, they all were more then ready to get back to what they loved...storm chasing.
Tyler sucked in a breath and stood up, taking your hand in his, “Wanna go for a midnight walk on the beach?” he smiled. Maybe it wasn't midnight, but it was close enough. It was cloudy and dark, a cool breeze was blowing in off the ocean. From the house you could hear the crashing of the waves on the shore and the rustle of the palm trees. A storm was blowing in from the sea.
“I'd love to.” You smiled, standing next time him. He wrapped his arm around you, pulling you into a hug, “Alright guys, we'll be back soon. We'll head out tomorrow.”
With that, he lead you out the door and across the beach. Tyler was about out of breath by the time you made it to the water's edge. His leg still felt like it was on fire every time he walked more then a few steps and his ribs still hurt with every breath he took.
“You sure you okay to go back chasing?” you asked, concerned.
“Yeah, maybe we won't be driving into any tornadoes or anything like that for a few more weeks, but I am good to sit there and drive. We can chase, relay the information to the weather services, get videos and photos and help where we can. We don't need to be wild and crazy just yet.”
“I've really enjoyed our week here.” you sigh, holding his hand tightly and turning as the cool ocean breeze blew though your hair. “I really have missed the beach.. This was the perfect week to recharge and figure out where I want to go next with my life.”
Tyler was silent for a moment before asking, “And where do you want to go next?”
“I want to be with the team. I want to be with you. I want to pursue a career in storm chasing. I not only want to chase after storms, I want to chase after us. I think we have something special here. I can't say I have ever loved anyone like I love you...and I know it's quick. It's been less then two weeks...but I can't imagine a life without you in it.”
Tyler smiled, stopping and turning towards you, “You don't know how happy that makes me, Y/N.” he breathed against your lips, tenderly kissing them. “I love you. I have never been so sure of anything in my life. Sure, I've dated a lot, but I have never felt this kind of connection. It's like we were always meant to be together. Like...” he paused, “I don't know, like we knew each other in another lifetime and are soul mates. I know it might sound stupid or whatever, I just feel like I have always known you.”
The wind picked up and seemed to change directions causing both of you to look up. Thunder rumbled in the distance and lighting streaked across the sky. Tyler looked at you concerned, feeling the pressure drop. You felt it too. “Were they calling for anything bad tonight?” you asked.
“No..just some storms that may roll in from the sea. There were no super cells or anything.” Tyler said slowly, “but this don't feel right. Let's head back to the house.”
He squeezed your hand tighter, turning to hurry back to the house, his breathing becoming raspy and heavy as his ribs protested to the quickened movement.
“Here, take the keys to my truck. If a tornado comes, my truck will be the safest place. You and the team get in the truck. I'll be there in a minute.” he gasped, “I can't run,” he gasped.
“I am NOT leaving you!” you stated.
You and Tyler were too focused on the approaching storm to notice someone in the darkness behind you on the beach. They were quickly approaching and you turned at the last minute as a rough hand grabbed your arm.
“Well ain't this just sweet..” the man snarled.
Tyler didn't think twice, he spun, pulling you from the man's grasp and placing himself in front of you.
He heard you gasp, “Lee...what the hell...”
Rage flashed across Tyler's face as he narrowed his eyes at Lee. “Y/N...run” he yelled then charged for Lee, “son of a b...” he yelled as he tackled Lee to the ground, his fist connecting to Lee's right cheek. Tyler didn't stop there. He continued punching Lee with both fist. “How dare you lay hands on a woman...you chicken shit coward!” he yelled.
“Ty!” You yell, fear filling your voice. “Ty, let's go...he's not worth it.”
“Get....help.” Tyler yelled at you. He was already gasping for air, pain raged though his chest. He didn't know how long he could continue the assault on Lee, but he was going to keep up as long as he could. He needed to know that you were safe. “Get...to the...house.” he gasped.
Suddenly, Lee grabbed Tyler by the neck and threw him to the ground. Lee kept pressure on Tyler's neck, choking him.
Tyler struggled to breath, fighting to push Lee off of him. “Once I kill you...I am gonna get that bitch wife of mine and fuck her real good...then I'll beat her ass and then choke the life out of her...just like I am doing to ...”
Tyler brought his knee up and kicked Lee in the stomach, breaking the hold on his neck. “I'll kill you before I let you hurt her again.” Tyler gasped, grabbing Lee's throat. His lungs burned for air, pain raked though his body, but he wasn't going to give in. He wasn't going to let Lee go until he knew you'd be safe.
Lee grabbed a handful of sand and threw it in Tyler's face, breaking his concentration just enough. Lee grabbed Tyler around the neck again, slamming him to the ground.
Tyler yelled out in pain as Lee slammed his weight into his chest. Tyler was left gasping for air. Lee kept a strong hold on his neck and Tyler felt the life slipping from him. He gasped, but couldn't get air.
“TY!” You screamed as loud as you could, not sure if the others could even hear you from the house. You took off running and slammed as hard as you could into Lee, knocking him off of Tyler.
The sound of your voice made Tyler focus again, fight against the unconscious that threaten to overtake him. Y/N...no. You aren't suppose to be here. You should have went to the house. He struggled to focus his blurry vision. He saw you just a few feet away from him. You were on Lee's back, your figures digging into his eyes.
Vaguely, Tyler heard tornado sirens blaring. “Y/N.” he rasped out, “Go..” he struggled to get to his feet.
Lee threw an elbow into your side, knocking you off of him, and he spun sending a kick into your stomach. “Get off of her!” Tyler yelled, throwing his body weight into Lee and struggling to hold Lee down, praying to whatever God there may be that you would take that chance to run to the house. He knew couldn't hang on much longer. His lungs were burning for air as he struggled to get a breath, “I love you, Y/N.” he rasped. If this was it, then he wanted those to be his final words to you.
“Ty! No!” you screamed, seeing his body go limp on top of Lee's. You struggled to your feet and were about to go after Lee again when someone grabbed you from behind and you screamed.
“It's okay. We're here.” Dani said, holding you tightly. From out of the darkness Boone ran over to where Lee had shoved Tyler off of him and was starting to stand. Boone threw him to the ground and threw punches to his face, not letting up until Lee wasn't moving anymore.
“We've got to go! Tornado!” Boone yelled, grabbing Tyler and slinging him over his shoulder.
The wind was roaring and sand swirled around you stinging your eyes. Dani and Lily were on either side of you helping you fight against the wind towards the house. Boone and Dexter were close behind struggling to carry Tyler into the house. You glanced behind you, half expecting to see Lee charging at you again...but what you saw instead was a body being pulled from the beach into the tornado. Strangely, you felt relief, if not a bit of happiness.
Dani pushed the door open and everyone practically fell into the door. Boone slammed the door closed and ushered everyone into the master bath that you and Tyler had been using. It was the only room on the lower level of the house without windows.
Lily and Dani leaned against the bathroom door as Boone carefully laid Tyler's limp body down. The tornado roared outside and you heard glass shattering throughout the house. The walls shook under the power of the winds.
You threw yourself over Tyler's body, doing your best to protect him from any debris that might fall, while at the same time checking for pulse and breathing.
“Hang on, baby.” you whispered, feeling his chest rise slightly. He took a rattling raspy breath. His chest seemed to be barley moving, but he was breathing and there was a faint heartbeat. You laid over his body, covering his head with your arms, “I love you.” you whispered into his ear.
Boone was already on the phone to 911 telling them the address and nature of emergency.
“It's over.” Lily breathed a sigh of relief.
You laid next to Tyler, head resting lightly on his chest, listening to his uneven raspy breathes, feeling the slight rise and fall of his chest with each breath. You drowned out all other sounds, all other thoughts except his breathing. Breathing meant life. Life meant hope.
“I am here, it's okay. Hang on Ty.” you sobbed.
You heard a slight gasp from Tyler and his chest stopped moving. “TY! Guys, he stopped breathing!” you cried.
Boone was instantly at Tyler's side. Sirens could be heard approaching from the distance.
“one...two...” Boone started the compressions. You pinched Tyler's nose closed and tilted his head slightly back when Boone reached 30. You breathed two breaths into Tyler's mouth and Boone started pumping his chest again. You checked, still not finding a pulse or breathing, and repeated the steps.
Lily and Dani left to go flag down the ambulance and lead them in the right direction. Tears streamed down your face as you breathed air into his lungs again.
Suddenly there was a gasp as Tyler took a breath. You waited for what seemed like too long, but then there it was. A second ragged breathe.
“What happened?” A medic yelled rushing into the room.
You told them of Tyler's previous broken ribs, and the fight on the beach and the stitches in his leg...you broke down in sobs. So much in such little time. You couldn't help to think maybe it would have been better if you never came to Oklahoma to start with. At least, if you hadn't came, then Tyler wouldn't have suffered so much. His life wouldn't be hanging in the balance for a second time in as many weeks.
You watched as they placed an Ambu bag over his face and started pumping air into his lungs as they loaded him on a stretcher. “I am staying with him.” you told the medics and they motioned for you to follow them as they quickly loaded the stretcher into the waiting ambulance.
“We'll meet you there!” Lily called and the team stood with tears in their eyes as the ambulance disappeared into the night.
It was only minutes until the ambulance arrived at the hospital. Tyler was whisked away behind a pair of swinging doors while a nurse lead you to the waiting room, and that's where you were when you saw Dani and Dexter rush though the doors. You stand to give them a hug, “Where's Boone and Lily?” you asked concerned.
“They'll be here soon. They stayed behind to talk to the police. The police are searching the area.” Dani said, “We told them it was Lee. I recognized him from the hospital attack last week. They haven't found him yet.”
“I think he might have gotten sucked into the tornado.” you told her. “When we were going to the house, I looked behind us and saw a body getting sucked up. I couldn't see any details, but as far I know it was only Lee and us on the beach.”
Dani and Dexter sat next to you, each holding your hand, “If that's what happened to him, it couldn't have happened to a better person. They'll find him.”
Boone and Lily entered a little while later, quickly making their way to you.
“Any word yet?” Boone asked.
You shook your head, “No. What did the police have to say? Did they find him?” you asked. A little voice in the back of your mind wondering if Lee somehow survived and was still out there.
“No. They didn't find him yet. With him being on the beach during the tornado and not likely that he got to any indoor place, the police think he was killed in the tornado. They just didn't find the body yet.”
“They might never find him.” Lily said, “You know sometimes things are dropped miles away from a twister. He might have gotten thrown into the ocean a few miles out.”
“Good food for the sharks.” Boone shrugged.
“Who's here for Tyler Owens?” The doctor called. You all stood up. “Two of you can come back here with me.” he stated.
Boone took your hand and you both stepped forward and followed the Doctor behind the swinging doors.
“He's going to be okay.” The doctor started off, “His left lung collapsed due to the broken ribs. I understand he had broken ribs last week? He should have been resting and not getting into fights.” the doctor was stern, “We were able to repair the damage. He hasn't woken up yet, but we expect he will soon. We have him on oxygen for now until his oxygen levels return to normal. His lungs are still struggling to work. It's been a lot of trauma on his body. I'll allow two at a time to sit with him. Once he wakes up and his vitals are steady we will release him, but he must take it easy for six weeks. No heavy lifting, no strenuous activity, nothing of the sorts.”
“Yes doctor. Thank you.” you nodded and Boone pulled you into a hug. “Go sit with him. I'll give the news to the others and we'll take turns coming in checking on you two.”
“Thank you.” you hugged Boone as tightly as you could and followed the doctor to Tyler's room.
Tyler laid motionless in the bed. An IV, breathing tubes, and various other wires were attached to him. Monitors sent out a steady beep. The sound of the oxygen machine hummed. You couldn't hold the tears. Sitting next to the bed, you took his hand in yours. His hand felt cool to the touch...not the warm strong hand that was like a rock when need be, but touched you with such a tenderness, as if touching a delicate flower.
“I am here,” you whisper, “Everyone is okay.” you squeeze his hand, “I love you.”
Boone came in for a few minutes, followed by Lily, Dani and Dexter. Each stayed for a few moments and promised they would be out in the waiting room before leaving you to have some privacy.
“I am sorry for everything.” you said, not even knowing if Tyler could hear you. “You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, but I almost wished I never found you.” tears started to fall as you kissed his hand lightly, “If I never joined the team, then you would never have been stuck protecting me during that tornado. You would have never gotten hurt. Lee would have never found you. You wouldn't be here now, fighting for your life.” you bit your lip.
“Darling,” Tyler's voice was all but a whisper, his figures moved slightly against your hand. “This is where...I need you. With...me.” his voice was weak and he fought to open his eyes, looking at you. “I love you Y/N.” he took a few raspy breaths, his chest rising and falling heavily. “I wouldn't change a thing...other then meeting you sooner and getting you away from that asshole sooner.”
“Ty.” You lean over, kissing his lips softly. “How you feeling.”
“Like I've been ran over by a truck.” he gave you a smile, “Are you okay?” he asked, his eyes full of concern.
“I am fine.” you promised him, “Thanks to you, and Boone, and Dani and everyone else. You all were there for me.” you whispered.
“Why didn't you run? I told you to run.” Tyler gasped, his lungs straining for the air he needed the more he talked. He started coughing, his chest heaving as he gasped for air. The machines started beeping and in a moment the doctor rushed into the room.
“Mr. Owens, calm down. Calm down...your lungs are still weak. Calm, slow breaths.” he encouraged. Tyler nodded taking deep calming breaths until his breathing evened out a little bit. The doctor increased the oxygen level. “Alright Mr. Owens...I am glad to see you are awake, but you've got to rest. Try not to talk too much or get upset, okay?” he said. “We can have you out of here in a few hours if your vitals become steady.”
Tyler nodded his agreement and took your hand once more when the doctor left the room. “So, why didn't you run?” he asked.
“Shh...you need to stop talking so much. You heard the doctor.” you squeezed his hand. “I didn't run because I wasn't about to leave you. I don't care what we face, we face it together. If it's Lee, a tornado or anything else. I will never leave you and I know you would never leave me. We're in it together.”
Tyler gave you a weak smile, “What happened with...him.” he studied you with worry in his eyes.
“I am not sure. I think he got sucked up by the tornado. When he was choking you, I attacked him. He gained the upper hand.” Tyler got a pained expression on his face at the sound that Lee had gotten the upper hand on you, “Boone was there. He tackled Lee and they fought. We ran when the tornado was closing in. Boone carried you. The whole team was there. I didn't see Lee get up, but as we approached the house, I saw someone get sucked into the tornado. Lee was the only one I know of left on the beach. The police have been looking, but he hasn't been found.”
Tyler nodded, “How did he find us?”
“We don't know...and it doesn't matter.” you say, leaning over to kiss him softly. “He's gone now. We are free to move on with our lives. I am just so sorry that you have went though so much pain because of me. I am not worth it.”
“Shh..” Tyler reached up and touched your face gently. “You are more then worth it. I love you with all my heart. You're worth it.” he whispered, his eyes growing heavy. “Now that I know you're safe...I am going to rest a bit.” he muttered, drifting back to sleep.
The door opened slowly and Boone quietly walked in, “We got a few hotel rooms for tonight right down the road.” he said, “Dani and Dexter are at the house packing everything up. Some windows got blown out and the roof is damaged so it's not safe to stay there.”
You nodded, “Thank you, Boone.”
“No problem. Lily and I will be in the waiting room. Once Tyler is free we'll take you guys to the hotel and I guess discuss what we're doing come tomorrow.”
Tyler opened his eyes, hearing Boone talking. “Hey man..thank you.” he said. “Thank you for being there.”
“No problem man. You just rest and get better. We've got ya.” Boone came over and gently patted Ty's shoulder and gave you a hug.
“Why don't you go to the room and get some sleep. Can't be good for you sitting in the chair.” Tyler said, squeezing your hand.
“No, I am not going anywhere without you. It shouldn't be too much longer before they let you out.”
Tyler sighed, knowing he was defeated. He didn't have the energy to argue and he know if the tables were turned, there would be nothing on this earth that would get him to leave your bedside.
* * * * *
The next morning you awoke in the hotel room, Tyler was sleeping, propped up on several pillows next to you. He had both his arms protectively wrapped around you. Your head was resting on his shoulder and he had his head leaning against yours. You shifted in the bed to move and get up for a cup of coffee. Even though you moved slowly and carefully, Tyler still awoke at the first sign of movement. “Morning beautiful.” he smiled.
“Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you. Want some coffee?” you asked.
“Yeah. That sounds good, and you didn't wake me. I was already awake.” he grinned, reaching over to the bedside table and picking up the IPAD, looking to see what the weather was going to be.
“So what's the plan for today?” you asked.
He put the IPAD down and gazed at you as you fixed the coffee, “I'd like to take you back to my hometown.”
You turned and looked at him with surprise.
“I have a little farm in Arkansas, right across the state line. Looks like there's going to be a few big cells out that way. We can make my house base for a few days and I can show you around while we chase.”
“Tyler...I would love to see your hometown, but the doctor was very strict. You need to take it easy. You can't get hurt again. I can go with the team and chase while you take it easy at home.”
“No...I don't want the team, especially you, out there without me.” Tyler said. “I'll take it easy. We don't need to get close. We can just track the storms, document them, and report our findings to the weather service. Nothing crazy or dangerous. I'll stay in the truck. I'll even let you drive.” he grinned.
“Alright, but at the first sign the storm is getting too close, we are out of there.” you kiss him softly and hand him coffee.
“Deal...he smiled, pulling you down for a tender kiss. “This is the first day of the rest of our lives together.” he whispered, “And I swear to you I am going to give all I've got to give to make all your dreams come true.”

Chapter 1 - Cool, everything went wrong
Next chapter
The sound of calm and steady footsteps echoed through the empty street, poorly lit by streetlights. Not a single car passed by at any time, and few of us were among the people who followed this wheel so late at night. Unfortunately for me, it was the only path that could be used to walk around the house while walking, or when there was a piece of land that ran along the road, or that was a little darker because it didn't have constant lighting, only when illuminated by occasional carriages.
It was definitely not a habit I was used to, leaving work while walking at that time. Unfortunately for me, it seemed like the universe was against my fateful needs that day. When my alarm didn't go off and I woke up more than ten minutes late, having to leave the house without even having breakfast, and then, halfway to college, my car stopped. I tried everything to start it again, but it didn't work so well, so I had to call the tow truck and wait for them to take my precious car to the mechanic, so that, only then, I could catch a bus that would take me as close as possible to the university
After a few minutes of trying to get to a bus stop and waiting, I was finally on my way to the hell of my daily life, at least I was blessed by fate to be able to enter, finally, no one really cares if you're in class or not, even if you arrive late. Well, that luck didn't last long, since I noticed that I forgot my materials and laptop in the car, and I had to watch the rest of the classes taking notes on my cell phone, it was particularly torture, so it was never more torturous than in Professor Jeffrey's classroom.
When hell is over, I will move on to the next hell, a long drive to the local supermarket, where I will spend the rest of the day at the supermarket checkout, r hearing my supervisor's screams and addressing customer complaints. I just had to deal with a client causing a scene right at my cash register. Oh, great, one more in the list . Oh yes, on a long and happy day, all this just to be graced by the information that my car wasn’t ready after my shift, and that I would have to go walk home, after having stopped for almost two hours, waiting for it.
Which brings me to this moment, where I am sulking, exhausted, with sore feet as I walk home at night, on an empty and scary street, without even a sign of life. I walk stomping my feet, finding no other way to express my own frustration, my legs already shaking from the effort I was not used to, all I could think about was getting home, taking a shower and sleeping.
My stomach growled
Oh, and to eat something, of course. At least tomorrow will be Saturday, I only had work in the afternoon and then I would be free from this suffering until Monday. This thought gave me the strength to continue, while my mind worked to calculate the route I should take if I wanted to get home today, always paying attention to my surroundings, it was never too much to worry, especially on a day as bad as this one.
As I turned a corner, I noticed that there was a path that would allow me to cut a good part of the route home, instead of walking another kilometer just to get to the back street I could go through that alley, which would also reduce the time by about ten minutes, but, of course, this had to be a dark and suspicious alley, I don't think that could really be worth it, especially considering my colossal bad luck today.
As soon as I thought about it, my aching legs became strangely noticeable, as if they were against the thought of taking the long way around - and they really were - heavens, I might be going crazy from exhaustion, but suddenly the idea of going through that alley wasn't so terrible, and also, wouldn't the longer route be an opportunity for more bad things to happen? At least through the alley I would get there faster which would give me less chance of something happening, right?
Well, that seems reasonable, after all, it won't take me more than a minute to get through there, and there's absolutely no one around right now, the chances of something bad happening are minimal, I mean, I might be having a bad streak today, but I can't be that unlucky, right?
Wrong
I underestimated myself and how much the universe hates me, because it only took one step into that alley for a male figure to reveal himself from the shadows. He was tall and thin, wearing a worn and dirty sweatshirt, almost as dirty as his hair. The smell of cigarettes emanating from him was noticeable even from the distance between us. He was threatening, without a shadow of a doubt. There was no way I could be in that situation and not imagine that this man wanted the worst. I immediately tried to turn around and run away, but before I could do anything I heard his hoarse and rude voice.
— Stop! - he gave the clear instruction, but before my brain could process it the man grabbed my wrist tightly, hurting me, I tried to fight to free myself, but before I could succeed, a knife was pressed against my throat. - Gimme your money, bitch!
Of all the situations, I managed to get myself involved in one of the worst possible at the moment, of course, or else it wouldn't be me . I was scared, more than I would like to admit, I felt my body trembling, no longer from fatigue, I tried to speak, to beg not to be hurt, but my voice failed, desperate, I nodded frantically as I tried to get my bag for him, where my cell phone and wallet were. He kept my wrist pinned, but lowered the knife to grab my belongings, as soon as I saw the opportunity, I despaired and acted on impulse, I forced my wrist out of his grip, and as soon as I was free I turned and started running as fast as I could, abandoning my things, he screamed at me, but the sound was muffled by the pulsing sensation of my blood in my veins due to adrenaline.
I don't know if it was my aching legs that gave out, if I tripped like the clumsy person that I am, or if I was knocked down, but in a matter of seconds I found myself face down on the ground, my face scratched and throbbing, but it didn't bother me, I needed to get up, I needed to get out of there, that was all I could think about at that moment, but I couldn't.
No matter how hard I tried to get up, I couldn't, and my mind couldn't understand why, as I continued to feel a wet sensation reaching my back, I could soon see the red liquid spreading across the floor. It took a while for understanding to hit me, the adrenaline that ran through my veins preventing me from feeling any pain, but it was when my vision began to darken that I understood, that was where it all ended for me.
Little by little, I began to regain feeling, only to be greeted by a sharp pain in my back, which sent electric currents throughout my body, but that didn't last either, soon my body no longer responded to me, I lost the feeling in my limbs, I could no longer see anything, I never thought that the last thing I would see in my miserable life would be my own blood spread across a dark and empty street, no one but me and my murderer, That's so me, the pure juice of bad luck.
That's how my life ended.
And it's also When my life begins .

Our Shattered Heart Interlude (Part 2.25) SR (GN! 'Heart' Reader x Taskforce 141)
Loading Track 1 - Work Song by Hozier (SImon RIley One Shot) Kept awake by Soap, Simon takes the time to recollect on a few things close to his Heart.
Warnings: Possible OOC of Simon, Suggestive Content, Cursing, Jealous and Possessive Simon, Konig being slightly unhinged lol
Part 1, Part 2, Part 2.50, Masterlist
As decided by the poll! Here is Simon. You don't need to read the other two parts for this I think but I recommend you do for context! Enjoy - Ash :D
Boys, workin' on empty
Is that the kinda way to face the burning heat?
I just think about my baby
I'm so full of love I could barely eat
There's nothing sweeter than my baby
I'd never want once from the cherry tree
'Cause my baby's sweet as can be
She give me toothaches just from kissin' me
Simon Riley was a light sleeper if he got any sleep at all. Johnny helped but the Scot tended to talk in his sleep, disturbing him. Price had left that day to return to base but you and the men needed to remain for another two weeks. That day you gave the men an earful about their treatment of you.
You turned to Simon with a simmering fire in your eyes. You walked up to him, poked a finger into his chest, and cursed.
“You! Big trouble mister! You were the worst of you lot! Price got away for now but he’ll hear it soon!”
Simon nodded, giving a gruff apology and taking your hand in his. You blinked and looked into his eyes. There you found a swirl of emotion restrained by his nature. He set a hand to your face and tilted your head up.
“I’m sorry dove. I was angry at you, more myself, for not being able to protect you. I should not have left you.”
Johnny sets a hand between Simon’s shoulders.
You lean into his hand.
“It's ok Simon.”
And with that you let him be.
Simon shuffled out of his room quietly, making sure not to disturb Soap who rolled over, pulling into himself without Simon there. Stretching his neck, Simon red the clock, 2:46 am, he sighed, he was going to feel this tomorrow. The man padded down the hall, passing the sound of Gaz snoring in his room. He turned the corner into the kitchen. Opening the cabinet he reached for a glass and a bottle of bourbon. Sighing he poured himself a glass and leaned against the counter taking a sip. His memories kept him company.
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold, dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her
He and Heart were on a duo mission in the Alps running intel for a botched mission. Everything had gone to shit when Ghost got shot. The shot went clean through, nicking nothing important but he collapsed with a yell from Heart.
“Shit Simon!.” Heart yanked him up and fled.
The night was almost on you. You rushed to pad the wound the best you could, heart quivering. The kiss had changed things between you two but he didn’t speak on it. You had to think fast! Wait! Kortac!
You grabbed your emergency phone and dialed the only person you could quickly reach. König.
The operator had a safehouse in the Austrian Central Alps and you tried your luck…with success. König had picked up with a kurt,
“Who is this? How did you get this number.”
“König it's me! Heart, I need help!”
His voice changed immediately,
“Schatz! Where are you?”
You responded with your coordinates and set Simon down against a tree, his groaning sharpening to a gruff laugh. You turn to him with wide eyes, his bandage having bled through. You curse, putting your phone in his hand to hold while you repack the would, burying the bloody bandages as it begins to snow.
“Schatz!” Königs voice echoes from the phone drawing Simon's sharp eye.
You try to take it from him but Simon grips the phone tighter.
“You called the Austrian?”
It's sharp, venomous even, his eyes trying to focus on you. You just gape at him, the sting of his voice carrying something you couldn't identify. You yank the phone from him while König confirms your location, he could be there in an hour. You praise him with thanks and try your radio again as the weather worsens. Nothing. You pace before you hear a gasp of pain. You turn to see that Simon has pulled himself up to lean against the tree.
“What in the fucking world are you doing LT?!?”
He just glares at the phone. Arms reaching forward to jaggedly pull you to him. The tactical vests kept you inches apart but the glower of his combat mask took up the entirety of your vision.
“You called König?” Simon hissed, having set your rifles aside he cusps your neck and pulled your face as close as he could with your helmets on. You pause before you simmer,
“You’re bleeding like a stuck pig Ghost!”
You want to throw your hands up but his form entraps you. With strength you didn't know he could manage, he turns you both and pins you to the tree, breath heaving from the exertion. He grips the back of your neck with a gloved hand.
“I don’t like him.”
You gawk at the man who’s form starts to sway,
“You got freaking SHOT! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?
He chuckles deeply, caressing your neck, and his free hand reaching to lift his mask above his mouth.
“What is this about Ghos-” You are cut off when he slams his lips against yours for the second time.
Boys, when my baby found me
I was three days on a drunken sin
I woke with her walls around me
Nothin' in her room but an empty crib
And I was burnin' up a fever
I didn't care much how long I lived
But I swear I thought I dreamed her
She never asked me once about the wrong I did
You gasp into the kiss, Simon pinning you further and taking the moment to open the kiss. You shove against him and he grunts, parting with heavy breaths and dilated pupils.
“Simon! What, how, why? You've been shot this is not the freaking time!”
His head staggers to your neck, lips parting with a deep chuckle that reverberates against you. He presses a kiss to your exposed neck that has your legs quaking. Your hands push against him with a little more success, but he is stubborn.
“Stop.” It is a deep-voiced command you push anyway.
“You need to sit down Sir.” He groans at that, but your phone rings again igniting something fierce in Simon. You go to pull it out but he uses his free hand to pin yours back.
“What the fu-” He bites your neck and your head knocks back against the tree neck as the phone continues to ring. He tongues over the mark before tracing up your neck. You give a breathy whimper before looking into Simon's eyes. His pupils are blown but his face cripples in pain as the phone rings. You push him, finding he gives with, stumbling, his bandages reddening.
You dash for the phone, grabbing it as Simon reaching for you collapses, clutching his side. You rush to grab him, answering Königs questions.
“Simon!” He blacks out.
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold, dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her
König arrives in 30 minutes, dressed in winter gear, and helps you to rewrap Simon and take him back to the safe house. You both rush into an open area with two single beds. König and you set Simon down and you are panicking. König grabs medical supplies while you work getting Simon’s equipment off. You strip his top off peeling the bloody compression shirt off and leaving his scarred abdomen open. You rewrap his wound and lean him back against the pillows.
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold, dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her
Simon faded in and out, lured to moments of almost consciousness by your laughter. His eyes momentarily open, muddy eyes from the shot you have given him earlier. As he comes to, unable to move he sees König and you close together, sitting at the table and eating. Something deep in his gut, not nausea nor pain, burned as he saw König reach an arm around you.
My babe would never fret none
About what my hands and my body done
If the Lord don't forgive me
I'd still have my baby and my babe would have me
When I was kissing on my baby
And she put her love down soft and sweet
In the low lamplight I was free
Heaven and hell were words to me
Night fell quickly as you rewrapped Simon and then used the shower, reappearing in a spare one of König’s shirts and your winter pants. You checked on Simon who was still out cold. Under the eyes of König you run a hand down his masked face, eyes tracing firm and scarred muscle. König then sees your neck his eyes darkening.
“Schatz”
You turn to him in question.
“Are you and the Ghost together.”
The question startles you and you look to the taller man with wide eyes. He takes the moment to stand, and to your surprise pulls off his sniper’s hood. Underneath was a handsome face, pale eyes, and dark brown hair. He reached back and undid his bun letting his hair fall. He steps forward, towering over you.
You stutter a no, a “I don’t Know.”
König nods looking almost sagelike. He reads your body and eyes.
“It's complicated ja?”
You just sigh and nod, a hand running through your hair. You then sit down on the other bed and he joins you as you just spill it out. Everything, Soap, Gaz, Ghost and then Price. You go on for an hour just talking with König listening. As you end he sets a large hand on your knee in comfort as you collapse onto the bed with a huff. Your eyes turn to you and he smiles, making your breath hitch.
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold, dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her
Something in Simon's mind stirs, he shifts and feeling exposed his eyes open. He shifts up against the pillows he is propped against and his eyes seek you. What he sees makes him freeze. Your back is on the bed with an unmasked, lessly dressed König leaning over you. Your laughter chimed out. Simon's heart freezes seeing Königs hand on your knee before it lifts to hover over you. Ghost tears through him then something black and vicious. Simon practically throws himself up with a grunt, then he's on his feet. You shoot up, knocking into König whose eyes fly to the standing Lieutenant.
“Back the fuck off of them.”
He barks the order as he steps forward rage balling his fists up and tensing his muscles. König chuckles and stands, putting himself between you and Simon.
“What will you do Geist?” He says calmly, something in Königs brain raising in glee at a challenge. You wrap an arm around König and pull but the man doesn’t move.
“König! Stop!” But the man continues tempting Simon, like baiting a wolf.
“You can’t protect them, what can you and your team do if I..” König spins around and gives you a knowing look,
“Wha-”
He grabs your face and presses his soft lips to yours. With you in shock, he deepens the kiss in a mock way. Simon snaps, lunging forward and tackling the bigger man as you step back in shock. König is strong but Ghost tears through Simon as rage and pent-up emotional adrenaline rush through him. He flips himself on top of the man, falling on top of him to the floor. His hand grabs for his knife and he pins König to the floor with a growl and a knife to his neck.
“Simon!” You yell it out but the man doesn’t move, dark eyes staring into König as then König laughs, a hearty sound that rumbles under Simon. His ice eyes gleam with delight. He had been wanting to test the famous Ghost. Simon, mind clear and now awake sees this then and stabs the knife into the wood floor next to König. You rush forward then wrap your arms around his bare chest.
“Simon that's enough.” Those possessive eyes then shoot at you in Königs shirt. He surges up off of König and crowds you, backing you up until you fall back onto the bed. He follows, his knee bracing on the other side of your thigh and hands, arms, and chest caging you in. König stays sprawled out watching the show.
Simon's eyes burn into yours, something hot and possessive burns there. You gulp unsure what to do, but the position does something, sending a simmering heat to your belly. Simon breaths heavily, rage dissipating, his eyes catch the spot he marked on your next, and pleasure surges through him. His eyes flicker to König who watches with a smirk, he realizes then. It was a test. Simon’s eyes meet yours and you find your hands reaching for his face to try and comfort him, but he does something a lot more intimate. After pulling his mask up, His lids droop and he dips his mouth into you in a languid kiss. You moan into the kiss and he chases the sound, lowering his weight onto you.
His hands run at the edges of Königs shirt possessively, Jealousy burning at his fingertips as they skim your skin but don't go under. No. Simon parts from your lips, tracing a kiss down your jaw and then to your neck as your arousal builds.
“Si-” He sucks at the junction of your neck that has you arching your back under him. He pauses then kisses there and hums against your skin as his arms work their way around you.
König stands, turns, and enters the bathroom and Simon relaxes fully.
He then, grabbing you, rolls so you're on his chest. The position allows you to finally take a deep breath and still your wildly beating heart. Simon runs a hand through your hair as you stare at him in wonder. His eyes soften before he tisks in pain, You try to get off him but his arms shoot out, muscles pulling you back to him.
“No, please stay.”
His voice is soft, something tender and sweet. You look down at him and feeling a push from your heart, clenching so tightly it takes your breath, you kiss him. SImons eyes widen before closing as your hands brace his wound before traveling up tight muscle. You echo him earlier by then parting and tucking your face into his next in embarrassment.
“No Dove, let me see you.”
Simon murmurs and you pull back as he cradles your cheek. You see the adoration then, in a brief flash before the bathroom door has Simon's eyes becoming guarded again. You take the moment to roll off him and sit up. König reappears with the knife, standing with a smirk regarding you as Simon sits up. You stand to approach König but Simon stands and wraps you in his arms, pulling you flush against him. The Skull glowers at König but the man waves Simon off, offering his knife back by the blade. Simon reaches and takes the blade in silent agreement with the Austrian. You relax then in SImon’s hold as König flips off the light and gets into bed.
“Goodnight Schatz,” he says as he turns his back to you too.
Simon huffs, releasing you to lie down on the bed, pulling himself tenderly under the covers. To your surprise, he pulls his balaclava off. You go to get a wipe for his eye black but he just takes your hand and pulls. You sigh, murmuring a good night to König, and shuffle into bed minding Simon’s wound. He quickly pulls your back to him and engulfs you with his arms. You blush but as the actions of the day finally catch up to you you find yourself nodding off in your Simons arms.
He presses a final kiss to the side of your head and after you fall asleep he murmurs a deep,
“I love you.”
When my time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold, dark earth
No grave can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her
SImon finishes his glass of bourbon as there is a noise. There is a quick light as you shuffle out into the kitchen. You then notice Simon.
“Si,” you yawn, “Why are you up?”
He sets his glass aside. He opens his arms and you immediately come forward into them. You press a tender kiss to his jaw and he embraces you.
“Just thinking Dove.”
He pulls you in for a secret kiss, fingers dancing down your arms and intertwining your hands,
“Just thinking.”

Some thoughts about blackbright/phantomquill and hakanaki
There are a few ways to spin this trope
Firstly, let's say Blackquill never met real Fulbright. It was the Phantom from the start (of course Simon doesn't know that) Here hakanaki is caused by the Phantom not returning the feelings. Now there are two options Option 1: they don't get involved romantically - that's just the most basic form of hanahaki Option 2: they do - now that's more interesting. Does the disease stop? Does it continue? I think most common version says whether the disease is cured depends on if the victim thinks the love is requited. So according to that, if Simon believes that this is real then boom, problem solved. (tho bonus points if during turnabout for tomorrow hakanaki comes back. Beautifully tragic) However, it's a fictional disease, we can make it more angsty. Let’s say it has some divine knowledge of how genuine the feelings are. So it all seems well, they're dating, or at least have something going on between them, but the flowers don't stop because the Phantom's feelings aren't genuine. And Simon doesn't know why the flowers aren't stopping, why is it getting worse, he starts doubting "Fulbright"s feelings, making everything worse in the process. There's probably a big emotional scene at one point. And the Phantom is just panicking because shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
Now let's assume Blackquill met the real Fulbright, at like the very beginning. Then he gets hakanaki but doesn't know yet, and Fulbright gets replaced. I was going to say at first that this is a more interesting option, but now that I think about it, the outcome is almost the same because option 1: no romantic involvement - most basic hanahaki stuff and option 2 is again, if based on Simon's beliefs then it gets cured, but going with the "the disease has divine knowledge" once again, it's not cured and Simon is doubting everything and so on the only thing that changes is the cause, because here I'd say it's because real Fulbright doesn't return his feelings
Both of this scenarios work when Fulbright is dead, but let’s add the Bobby lives AU, just for the fun of it. In the first one he actually does nothing really. And in the second one, the only reason for him to be alive is to have a happy ending, where he gets rescued and they fall in love and Simon is cured yippie
..or is it? Because what if real Fulbright doesn’t love Blackquill back? It is admittedly kinda the same as basic hanahaki in the end, but I am an enjoyer of taking a Bobby lives au and making it tragic Bobby is alive, but it turns out he doesn't have feelings for Simon (especially angsty if the Phantom got involved romantically with Simon) just with addition of flowers Or what if Bobby lives, but Simon realizes that he doesn't like real him this way (and it drives him absolutely insane that he was/is in love with the Phantom) in context of hanahaki we're back to the first scenario, of it being caused by Phantom not loving him back
And while on the topic of hanahaki, there's also versions of getting it surgically removed, but losing your feelings for the target in the process, and I just think Simon would absolutely get it done. Unfortunately, he's in prison womp womp

cat ozai au?
Hello, anon!!! Shout out to @akiizayoi4869 for helping me!!
1. In a world with no war, the royal family still has some issues. Mainly that they suck at properly communicating with one another which has caused more than a few arguments. Ursa has tried to help the family communicate better but they’re really struggling. One night, a family dinner turns into one of the most heated arguments of all time. Zuko yells that Ozai doesn’t care about him at all and Azula claims that he only cares about her bending but doesn’t want to know her as a person (of course she still has some problems with Ursa but at the moment everything is directed towards Ozai). Ursa tries to talk to Ozai after the dinner but he says he needs some space and leaves. While out in the garden, Ozai wishes that he could know more about his children and be more involved in their lives. A nearby spirit hears him and says that he can make that happen. Ozai agrees to the spirit’s help and he’s turned into a cat.
2. Ozai, of course, tries to fight the spirit but just ends up hurting himself. He’s discovered by Ursa, who mistakes him for a stray, and takes him inside to help heal his injured leg. (Ursa: Poor thing. Did you get into a fight with a fox-owl or tiger-monkey? Ozai: Actually a spirit. Ursa: Talkative little thing, aren’t you? Don’t worry. Our healers will fix your leg and you can be on your merry way. Ozai: Yeah, not happening. I’ll be staying in the nice way palace. Thank you very much.) While she’s walking through the halls, Zuko spots her and the cat in her arms. He instantly asks if they can keep him but Ursa is reluctant because Ozai isn’t fond of pets. Azula hears what’s going on and asks as well. Ursa agrees that they can keep the cat for now but Ozai has final say. (Azula: Dad’ll never let us keep a cat. Ozai: Because they’re annoying, show no affection, and they’re pests more than pets. If you kids want a pet then we’ll invest in an actual pet befitting the Royal Family. Zuko: Awww. He’s so chatty. Ursa: He really is. I think his paw is hurting him. I’m going to take him to the healer. Azula: Could we name him? Ozai: No! No, Ursa, stop this! Ursa: Not right now, baby. I don’t want you kids getting attached. Besides, he’s so good with people. He probably has owners of his own that he’ll have to go back to.). The healer washes him and bandages up his paw before returning him to Ursa’s room. Ursa, worried about Ozai and wondering why he hasn’t returned, almost doesn’t notice the black cat on her bed until she gets ready to go to bed. Too tired to remove him, Ursa allows him to remain in her room. Ozai tries to think up how to get rid of this curse and why the spirit would curse him like this until he sees Ursa shaking and realizes she’s crying. He makes his way over and falls asleep nuzzled next to her and purring to provide some comfort.
3. Ozai is declared missing by tomorrow afternoon. The palace sends out a search part for him but no one can find anything. (A letter is also sent to Iroh to tell him that his brother has gone missing). While everyone searches for Ozai, Ursa agrees to let the kids keep the cat so they can have something good to focus on. Ozai is still dead set on them figuring out who he is but no matter what he does, it doesn’t work. He tries writing his name (it gets stepped on), telling people (all they can hear is meowing), and even bringing things to them that he had bought (this backfires horribly when he brings Azula a teddy bear he got her as a child and the family decides to name him Teddy.). Iroh returns to the palace a few days later, introduced to Teddy:the family’s temporary pet, but, much to Ozai’s shock, Iroh actually can understand him. (Ozai: You can understand me? Iroh: Years of spiritual training was not just for show, brother. Ozai: Tell them it’s me! Help me change back! Iroh: I don’t think I should do that. The spirits clearly did this for a reason. You need to live through this. Ozai: Iroh, I am not a cat! Get me out of this body! Iroh: When was the last time you spent one on one time with Zuko? Ozai: I…umm… Iroh: What’s Azula’s favorite dessert flavor?Ozai: I know her favorite dessert? Iroh: You see my point? Ozai: I’ll do better but not as a cat. Iroh: Sorry, brother. Noting I can do. Zuko: Uncle! Are you talking to Teddy? Iroh: You have a very talkative little fella. Ozai: Iroh. Iroh, picking him up: Here you go, nephew. Be gently with him. Zuko: I know. Come on, Teddy. Azula and I got you some treats. Ozai: Yay….cat treats.) Ozai is gonna kill his brother when all of this is over.
4. One day, while he’s relaxing in Zuko’s room (cat’s sleep a lot, he’s realizing), he notices Zuko come home in a huff from school and slam his stuff down then fall into his pillow. Ozai gets up to investigate what’s going on but is almost knocked off the bed by Zuko when he firebends in rage. Zuko ends up ranting about how there’s a big firebending performance happening at his school and he knows he’s going to fail it. Ozai tries to tell him that he wouldn’t fail if he put time into practicing only for Zuko to continue ranting and, eventually, he decides to head over to the training room, taking “Teddy” with him. When they get there, Ozai realizes that Zuko is doing the moves correctly—which isn’t what he thought—but is struggling nonetheless. He was always so focused on Azula that he didn’t notice that his son was doing the right moves, he just needed more instruction and help. (Zuko, feeling Teddy press his head against his leg: Teddy, I can’t play right now. Ozai: Keep your legs anchored to the floor. You need your legs rooted to the ground to help control your fire. *Pressing his paws against Zuko’s feet*. Zuko: Are you giving me firebending lessons, little guy? Ozai: I know you can’t understand me but please understand me. You’re putting too much power into your bending. You are a firebender. The fire will come. Zuko: Thanks for the pep talk, buddy. Now, why don’t we move you away from the fire. Ozai, ears falling: Right. Can’t understand me.) Later that day, he comes across Azula and finds her in her room freaking out over something. Jumping on her desk to hear more, he finds out that she has a crush on two different people: a boy named Chan and her friend Ty Lee. Ozai is beyond taken aback by this. He didn’t not know Azula was already getting crushes. (Ozai: You can’t date yet. You’re still just a kid. Azula: I don’t know what to do Teddy. Ozai: Don’t date. I never trusted Ty Lee and this Chan guy sounds like a jerk. Just stay single. Problem solved! Azula: You think I should handle it like a battle strategy? Great idea! *Runs off* Ozai: What? No. Sweetie, you can’t-….I never taught her what to do when she has a crush, did I? Iroh: No, you didn’t. Ozai: Were you just standing there? Iroh: I heard you talking. Ozai:….Am I just as bad a father? Iroh: No! No, you’re not. Because father never even thought he was wrong. You realize that you are. Ozai: I want to help them.)
5. A couple more weeks go by and the family starts to realize more and more that Teddy might not be an ordinary cat because he’s helping them with almost all of their problems. He helps Zuko with his firebending, getting him the highest report he’s ever gotten by his tutors, helped Azula with her dating crisis—even though he really thought she shouldn’t be dating—and provided Ursa with comfort and help since she was feeling overwhelmed with everything now that Ozai was gone. By now, Ozai has also been declared dead and the family is mourning his death. It’s hard for him to see everyone mourning him when he’s right there but the most he can do for his children and wife is to give them some form of comfort. One night, he’s asleep next to Ursa, when he hears someone outside. His ears perk up and he quickly realizes that it’s the same spirit as before. Ozai slips out of her hold and back to the garden. (Spirit: Enjoying yourself? Ozai, sarcastically: Greatly. Why are you here? Spirit: I think it’s time for Teddy to go and Ozai to return. Ozai: You’re turning me back!!! Spirit: If you wish. Ozai: Actually…I have a request.) Ursa wakes up the next morning to see her husband smiling at her. Of course, she and the kids are beyond thankful that Ozai is alive and well and back at the palace. But they’d by lying if they said they weren’t also thankful for the fact that he found Teddy wandering in the garden by himself. (Iroh: Asked the spirit to make Teddy a real cat? Ozai: They deserve a pet. Iroh: You know I’m going to tell them you were the cat, right? Ozai: Iroh- Iroh: Hey, Ursa, remember a few weeks ago when Teddy got into your secret stash of chocolate?)

KILLING ME SOFTLY
Hitman!Jolly - Part 1
CN murder, violence, sex, organized crime, blood, angst, 18+

ELEVEN
“If you keep cooking for me like this every day, I'm going to burst!” Olivia gasps blissfully, pushing her plate away. Jolly grins into his wine glass before taking a big sip, “I'm glad you like it!” “Absolutely!” Olivia smiles and leans back, ”Let's do the washing up tomorrow....” “Hmm, I'll clear up quickly.... Why don't you lie down on the couch... I'll be right there!” Jolly explains gently. “OK... but hurry up!” Olivia kisses him before heading into the living room. Jolly knows she must be dead tired after work, so he quickly puts everything away and into the dishwasher. When he has finished and goes to Olivia in the living room, she is curled up on the couch, already asleep.
Smiling, Jolly bends over her and lifts her up, causing her to open her eyes in shock, “It's all right, min Liv, I'm just putting you to bed!” he whispers tenderly and Olivia nestles trustingly in his arms as he takes her into the bedroom. He skillfully throws back the covers and lets himself slide into bed with her in his arms. Olivia immediately snuggles up to him, “I'm totally exhausted!” she sighs. “I know, min Liv, I've got you, sleep peacefully!” whispers Jolly tenderly. Tired, Olivia blinks up one last time before falling asleep, “I love you...” she whispers, smiling. “I love you too ....” Jolly kisses her on her forehead, watching her visibly relax and grow heavy in his arms.
Before I met you, I didn't know what love was... you own my heart, my soul, my body... everything. You complete me, make my life complete... I didn't know that I needed you to live, to really live, before you it was simple survival..... God Liv, you are the most precious gift I have ever received! And the fact that you want me still seems like a dream that I'm afraid I'll wake up from one day... I'm yours, yours alone!” he whispers with emotion in his voice and notices a tear running down his cheek. When Olivia moves in his arms and looks up at him, he is startled at first, “I thought you were asleep!” he whispers harshly. “Hmm, almost.... I love it when you speak Swedish!” she smiles and brushes the tear away with her fingertip, ‘What did you say to me!’ she wants to know. “That I love you... that I'm yours... only yours!” Jolly whispers harshly. “Mine!” Olivia nods, ‘And I'm yours!’ she kisses him on his soft lips. Jolly pulls her as close as he can, never wanting to let her go for a second.
“You want to talk, here I am!” explains Jolly as he closes the door to Kolja's office in his club behind him. “Sit down!” Kolja nods at him, pointing to an armchair in front of his desk, ‘Drink?’ he wants to know. Jolly shrugs his shoulder, “If you've got a beer there.....” Kolja snorts in amusement, “I can get it!” He opens the door and yells at one of the girls to bring a bottle of beer to his office. After Jolly has his beer, Kolja leans back in his desk chair, puts his fingertips together and looks appraisingly at Jolly, who calmly returns the look. “You killed the bastard who had Artur on his conscience.....” Kolja begins. “Hmm” nods Jolly. “Strange coincidence, don't you think?” he then wants to know from Jolly. “What exactly?” he asks. “Well... my father tells Artur to fuck off because he's unsuitable in his eyes. Artur then suddenly disappears and his body is found at our informant's....., a man Artur has nothing to do with.... It's all a bit strange, if you ask me!” Kolja looks at Jolly and waits. “Hmmm,” Jolly shrugs his shoulder.
“Then two of Artur's men have also disappeared, probably dead too.... His remaining man for everything is accordingly nervous!” explains Kolja. “His remaining man?” Jolly asks calmly, although he suddenly feels sick to his stomach at the thought that there is a third man who knows about him and Olivia. “Hmm, Fedor, he thinks it's all more than strange too!” grumbles Kolja, looking Jolly straight in the eye, ”And that's where you come in!” “In what way?” replies Jolly coldly, his nausea intensifying immensely, but remaining outwardly calm as ever. “My father..... HE must be the one who killed Artur. Anything else makes no sense at all!” Kolja grumbles and Jolly exhales, ”Talk to him! You're the only one he might tell the truth to. I just have to know!” “I can try!” concedes Jolly, ”But I don't know if he'll tell me anything!” “Just talk to him tomorrow!” nods Kolja. The men look at each other in silence. “Nadja, hmm?” Kolja then grins at Jolly, ”You could have had her! You know that!” “Hmm” Jolly nods slowly, ”I like her.....” “You're fucking her!” laughs Kolja. “Not anymore!” Jolly shakes his head and takes a deep pull from his bottle. “Because of Sergei?” Kolja wants to know “Hmm” nods Jolly, ”Otherwise it's just trouble!”
“Nadja certainly doesn't see it that way!” Kolja teases him. “She can, I see it that way!” Jolly tries to end the topic. “Do you have another one?” Kolja starts again. FUCK.... Just shut your stupid mouth, thinks Jolly annoyed and shakes his head, “No!” “Take Kira! She'd be a good match for you!” laughs Kolja. “I don't need anyone, thanks!” Jolly tries again. “Hmm,” Kolja grumbles, shaking his head, but finally stops talking about it. “Oh well.... I almost forgot!” Kolja then snorts, ”Kusma is here! As an outward sign of our connection, you're going to get another tattoo! With my initials and my mark! Just like all my other men!” Jolly presses his jaws together and has to breathe in and out calmly. Unbridled rage wells up inside him. So he is to be marked again.... For his new master, so to speak. Jolly lowers his eyelids so as not to give himself away and sips from the label of his beer bottle. To stall for time, he asks, “Hm, today?” “Why not today? I think it's a good time. You'll officially be my new right-hand man at Artur's wake!” smiles Kolja. “Hmmm” nods Jolly with an uneasy feeling in her stomach ‘And can I choose the position?’ he wants to know. “I'd like it on your right cheekbone!” explains Kolja, ‘KSW’ he adds.
Jolly just stares straight ahead, knowing that if he says anything or even moves now, he will completely lose his temper. Kolja looks at him challengingly and Jolly lifts his head, looks him straight in the eye, “NO! NOT in my fucking face!” he declares more than clearly. Kolja is speechless, just stares at Jolly, opens his mouth and closes it again, like a fish out of water, then clears his throat, “My other men get it in exactly the same place!” “But I'm your right-hand man and not one of your henchmen....” Jolly growls angrily. Kolja looks at him with narrowed eyes, “Maybe you're right....” he then concedes, “Very well... somewhere else then!” Jolly leans back, relieved that his face has been spared for the time being. What he is not spared, however, is the tattoo itself and Nadja. Kusma has routinely tattooed Kolja's initials and mark onto Jolly's skin and taped them directly below Semjon's initials. Jolly angrily pulls his shirt back on, while Kusma already has the next of Kolja's men under his needle. He is so distracted by his anger that he doesn't even notice Nadja stepping next to him. He only notices her when she runs her hand over his bare chest.
“It's been a long time since I've seen..... TOO long!” she smiles. Jolly takes her hand away, “What are you doing Nadja....” he growls and buttons up his shirt. Nadja stands in front of him and pushes her hands through his hair, claws into a tuft at the back of his head and pulls his head up so that he has to look at her. “Still HER?” Nadja hisses dangerously quietly. Jolly's gaze flickers briefly to the side to make sure no one hears them. “Still her.....” Nadja swallows realizing and looks at Jolly stunned, bending her mouth to his ear, “Don't worry... I won't betray you, but you will leave her! Otherwise......” Nadja leaves the sentence unfinished. In a flash, Jolly's hand moves forward and grips Nadja's throat. This time it's him who leans towards her ear, “Don't threaten me and especially not her.... Never do that again, do you understand me?” he growls, barely audible, and squeezes her throat even tighter, only to let go immediately afterwards. Gasping and holding her neck, Nadja stumbles back and looks at Jolly, her eyes wide with bewilderment. “You're out of your mind!” she then croaks, ”I hardly know you anymore!” “You never knew me!” Jolly throws at her. “But she does?” Nadja hisses jealously, ”She knows you? Don't tell me... she doesn't even know WHO you are, WHAT you are!” she laughs bitterly. Jolly steps up close to Nadja, “Yes, she knows me, she knows WHO I am, WHAT I am... and guess what, she still wants me!” he rumbles. Nadja's eyes widen in horror, “You told her the truth?” she swallows. “Yes, I did!” growls Jolly. “That's your death sentence!” Nadja chokes out. “Not if you keep your fucking mouth shut and leave me alone... Tomorrow you're getting engaged to Sergei... Get on his nerves or find yourself a new toy. I'm no longer available!” he grumbles. “You still don't get it, do you?” Nadja wants to know, ”You can't just play nice with your little bitch.....” Jolly looks at Nadja in disgust, “Jealousy doesn't suit you, Nadja!” he growls and leaves her standing there. FUCK... the evening is a disaster, he thinks to himself in despair. Nadja leaves him alone for the rest of the evening and Jolly longs for a suitable time to leave the party. Kolja is now drunk as a skunk, or at least it looks that way. Brooding to himself, he sips his vodka again and again. He detests vodka, but Kolja has insisted that a vodka toast be made in Artur's honor. Jolly's nerves are stretched to breaking point and he just wants to go home to his Liv.... He also resolves to contact Doi again on Sunday at the latest to ask him when the fucking papers will finally be ready..…
He flinches in irritation as his cell phone buzzes in his pocket. He quickly takes it out to see who is trying to contact him. Liv... He hastily presses her message and furrows his brows, reads her message again and then bangs his fist on the table. FUCK!!!! She can't possibly be serious, he thinks to himself and has to take a deep breath to stop himself from freaking out. Olivia has just informed him that she has been invited to her colleague's bachelorette party at short notice and, as this colleague is her immediate superior, she couldn't turn it down without upsetting her. So she is currently in a bar with her colleagues..... Jolly only has one question for Olivia, “WHERE?” Nervously he waits for her answer, when she comes he jumps up, goes to Kolja, who is lying with his face in Hanna's bosom. “Kolja....” Jolly shakes him, ”Kolja, can you hear me?” Kolja lifts his head sluggishly, “Hmm” “I have to go, I'll see you tomorrow!” Jolly explains curtly. “Hmm” Kolja mumbles and lets his face fall back onto Hanna's bosom, who smiles and strokes his hair. Jolly storms downstairs. The evening IS an absolute disaster!!!
Jolly enters the bar with a clenched jaw and looks around searchingly. It's crowded and stuffy, loud music blaring from the speakers. He still can't believe that Olivia has come here with him after everything that has happened. And especially without him..... He feels his heart race as he pushes his way through the crowd to get to the counter. “Hey... I'm looking for my girlfriend!” he says to the bartender, ”Tall, pretty, dark long curls. She's out with colleagues, bachelorette party.” he explains quickly. “Hmm” nods the bartender, ”They're upstairs, second floor!” “Thanks, man!” nods Jolly and is already on his way up, tying his hair back by forming the top half into a bun. When he reaches the second floor, he can immediately make out the group Olivia must be traveling with. FUCK... drunk women.... he thinks to himself resignedly as he makes out the giggling, laughing women. One or two male colleagues seem to be there too. Only WHERE is Liv, he thinks to himself and pushes forward to find her until he sees her. He pauses, stares at her. His Liv and another woman are dancing and laughing to the loud music. Her movements are smooth, she is completely caught up in the melody. Jolly can't tear his gaze away from her, nor can he move. The image in front of him has enchanted him, just as Liv has enchanted him.
He notices how a smile forms on his face and he relaxes. Jolly crosses his arms in front of his chest and just watches her, taking in the relaxed atmosphere. Until some asshole steps behind his Liv and definitely presses himself too close to her, daring to put his filthy hands on her hips. Liv tries to shake the guy off, which only makes the idiot laugh and grab her upper arm. He tries to pull her to him..... He tries, because Jolly is already beside him, gripping his wrist with an iron grip, squeezing brutally, making the asshole look at him in irritation. “You're putting your hands on the wrong woman!” he growls quietly, ‘She's mine!’ and steps even closer to the guy. Olivia, who has been watching all this speechlessly, sees Jolly's free hand twitch and immediately takes it in hers, “Nothing else has happened!” she whispers to him. Jolly has to control himself, he would love to beat the guy to a pulp. Not just because he touched his Liv, but also because the whole evening was just shit and this is the icing on the cake for him. But he tells himself to calm down and pushes the guy away, “Get out!” he snarls at him as he stumbles back. Olivia stands in front of Jolly, puts her arms around his neck, “Look at me!” she demands in an alcohol-soaked voice, “Nothing happened!”
Jolly's gaze flickers as he looks at her, “Because I got there in time!” he snorts angrily, but wraps his arms tightly around her waist and pulls her close, “I don't want you out at night without me!” he gulps, “I told you, there are too many idiots and lunatics out here!” Olivia snuggles up to him, “I really had my fun!” she chortles, “Except for that guy.....” “Hmm” grumbles Jolly, noticing how Olivia's colleagues are eyeing him curiously, ”Let's go home!” “In a minute.....” whines Olivia, ‘I want to dance with my boyfriend!’ grinning. “Heavens!” gasps Jolly in amusement, ”I can't dance!” “Hmmm, you'll learn then!” laughs Olivia and starts to move to the beat. Jolly feels overwhelmed at first, but then he moves with Olivia's body and rests his head against hers. “See?” she laughs, ‘I knew you could move... after all.....’ she raises an eyebrow teasingly and lets her gaze fall briefly on his crotch. Jolly leans towards her ear, “Just wait until we get back home, then I'll show you exactly HOW well I can move!” and kisses her neck tenderly.
Laughing, Olivia snuggles up to him, “Let's just have fun tonight, dance, have a drink... A date! A normal date between two normal people who love each other! PLEASE!” “Of course, min Liv!” Jolly kisses her lips and pulls Olivia close, ”Let's be just that tonight!” Jolly carries Olivia into her apartment and lays her down on the couch. “Stay here!” she giggles and kisses him on the lips. “I'll stay here... just let me lock the front door!” he smiles shaking his head as Olivia has definitely had too much to drink. When he comes back to her and sits down next to her on the couch, she reaches for the button placket of his shirt and starts to unbutton it. Smiling, he lets her do it, grabs her neck and kisses her deeply. Olivia impatiently pulls his shirt off his shoulders and then runs her hands over his bare chest, runs them down his sides, then stops and pauses in her movement. “What's that?” she wants to know, pushing him back so she can look at him. FUCK... that fucking tattoo, Jolly thinks. “Hmm, nothing else!” he tries to distract her.
“Don't bullshit me!” Olivia sits up, “Let me see, that's yet another new bandage!” “Yes.... No....” Jolly shakes his head, but then sighs and turns so that Olivia can see. Frowning, she looks at him. “A tattoo..... not by choice.... Kolja insisted on it..... his initials and his sign.....” explains Jolly. “Such an asshole......” Olivia hisses angrily. “Hmm, first he wanted me to get it on my cheekbone!” shrugs Jolly with his shoulder. Olivia looks at him speechless, then shakes her head, “We really need our new papers! You HAVE to get out of there!” “I'll call Doi on Sunday and ask!” Jolly kisses the top of her head. Olivia snuggles up to him, “I always want it to be like tonight...” she whispers. “Hmm, me too and we'll get that too, min Liv!” smiles Jolly, ”I'll make sure of that!
Groaning, Olivia pulls the comforter over her head and curls up under it, pressing her head against Jolly's chest, “Turn that fucking alarm clock off!” she croaks. Laughing, Jolly fishes for it and turns it off, then takes Olivia in his arms. “I feel sick....” she moans, ”And my head is still pounding... I'll never have another sip of alcohol!” Jolly laughs softly, “I'll make us breakfast, I'm sure you'll feel better afterwards!” “Hmm” Olivia grumbles, then looks at him, ‘Let's just stay in bed tonight!’ she looks at him pleadingly, ”I can call in sick.....” “Liv, you know I'd love nothing more than that....” sighs Jolly, ”But I have to go to the fucking engagement party. I can't NOT show up there. Even though I have absolutely no desire to!” “Say you're sick....” Olivia pleads with him. “I can't....” whispers Jolly harshly, ”I have to go there!” “Every time you're with these people, something happens. You get hurt or something....” whispers Olivia. “Not this time, I'm sure. It's just an engagement party! I have to go, stay a while and I'll be gone as soon as I can!” he assures her. “Promise me that nothing will happen to you!” Olivia looks into Jolly's eyes insistently. “I promise you!” Jolly kisses her, ”You go and have a shower, I'll make us breakfast in the meantime! And tomorrow we'll spend the whole day in bed!” “Promise?” Olivia wants to know. “Promise, min Liv!” Jolly smiles, pulls her close and kisses her deeply.
“Are you feeling better?” Jolly asks with a smile after Olivia has eaten her pancakes. “Hmm” she nods, ”A little....” “Do you want me to pick you up later?” Jolly wants to know. “Hmm” she nods, ”Although I don't know if I can leave on time today. It's always busier at the weekend!” “Never mind, I'll wait for you then!” explains Jolly and starts to clear the table. Olivia stands up, helps him, then grabs his hand, entwines her fingers in his, kisses him, “I love you!” she whispers, “More than I can say!” Moved, Jolly looks at her, gently strokes her cheek, then takes her chin in his hand and kisses her too, “You're my life, min Liv!” he whispers harshly, resting his forehead against hers. “I don't want to move...” whispers Olivia. “Hmm” smiles Jolly, ”If I could, I'd freeze this moment forever! But even if I can't, there will be thousands of moments like this!” “Will there?!” gulps Olivia, ”Swear to me!” “It will!” nods Jolly, ”You don't have to be afraid....” Olivia clings to him, “It's just.... When we're together, it's all good, but when you're away... I'm always afraid you won't come back!” “I come back, I come back every time... I can't help but keep coming back to you! You are my North Star, my Polar Star!” whispers Jolly as his lips gently kiss her neck. “Swear it!” she asks him again. “I swear to you!” Jolly kisses her. “You look elegant!” Olivia lets her eyes slide over Jolly, who is wearing a black suit, a dark gray shirt and a black tie. Black leather boots complete his outfit. He has tied his hair up in a half bun, wears his silver cross as an earring and silver rings. “You can hardly see any of the bruises!” Olivia nods as she strokes his face tenderly, ”Except for the scars!” Jolly takes her hand, kisses her fingertips, “They'll be the last!” he explains seriously, “Well, except for two!” he then qualifies. “Two new scars?” Olivia asks, frowning. “Hmm” nods Jolly, ”I want the bloody initials and marks off my skin. As soon as this is over, I'm going to remove them!” “You're not going to cut them out, are you?” Olivia looks at him in shock. Jolly shrugs his shoulder, “How else?!” “Oh, I'm not a doctor by any chance and can remove it painlessly, you idiot?!” she snarls at him. “If you would do that.....” whispers Jolly. “What do you think? Of course!” Olivia shakes her head, ”Nothing better than that! Then you'll be rid of the outward signs!” “Hmm!” nods Jolly, ‘Better today than tomorrow!’ he grumbles. Olivia looks at her watch, “You have to go!” she gulps. “Hmm, I'll pick you up from work afterwards!” he whispers, then looks into her eyes, smiles, ‘Min Liv!’ and kisses her lips tenderly.
The engagement party at Semjon's house is a typical Russian engagement party, lots of guests, lots of alcohol, loud blessings for the future bride and groom. Nadja and Sergej let themselves be celebrated. Nadja keeps showing off her sinfully expensive engagement ring, which all the women present look at, some enviously, some enthusiastically. Jolly stands on the sidelines, sipping from his bottle of beer and preferring to watch rather than be in the middle of the action. Kolja, like most of them, is drunk by now. So is Sergei, the groom-to-be, and Oleg, Nadja's father and Semjon's right-hand man. Semjon himself is probably sober, Jolly estimates, as he has hardly had anything to drink. Inga is sitting next to him, smiling and with her hand on his shoulder. The core of the Russian mafia is currently in one place.... A high risk in itself, if you look at it that way, Jolly thinks to himself. Nadja comes up to him and stands next to him.
“Nice party!” Jolly nods at her. “It could have been our engagement party!” Nadja starts again. Jolly rolls his eyes in annoyance, “Nadja.... Stop it! I'll never marry you!” “Because of her?!” she hisses immediately. “Yes!” nods Jolly, ”And because I know you.... It would never have worked out between us....” “We could have tried!” she retorts unusually fiercely and Jolly sees a tear flash in the corner of her eye, which she hastily wipes away. Jolly looks at her thoughtfully, “You always said there was nothing serious between us!” “Do you think I'm going to reveal my feelings? Let me get hurt, used like all the other women here are used?” she hisses at him. “Maybe it would have made a difference!” Jolly presses out after a while, ”I was in love with you....... In the beginning.....” Jolly admits strangely frankly. Nadja looks at him speechlessly, “In love?!” she croaks soundlessly. “Hmm” shrugs Jolly with his shoulder, ”But that doesn't matter now!” “Why didn't you say anything?” Nadja asks, stunned. “Why would I?! For the same reasons you did..... Besides, I was sure Semjon would kill me if I wanted to marry you!” explains Jolly, taking a swig from his bottle. “We could have had ANYTHING!” whispers Nadja tonelessly. Jolly shakes his head, “No... we've always had other life plans, Nadja. Don't kid yourself. It would never have worked out with us anyway!”
“You love her?” she suddenly wants to know from him again. “Yes... I do!” sighs Jolly, ”More than anything else in this fucking world. I'm happy with her, Nadja, and believe it or not, I wish you the same with Sergei from the bottom of my heart!” “I don't love him!” Nadja shakes her head. “Hmm, then use him, secure your power. You're right.... Kolja is no Semjon. Play your cards skillfully, maybe it'll be your turn soon!” explains Jolly. Nadja looks at him questioningly, “Do you know more than I do?” “Hmm, no!” Jolly shakes his head, ”I only got to spend time with Kolja...” Nadja laughs, puts her hand on his chest, “I'm really going to miss you Jolly.... Our time together!” “Wasn't the worst in all that shit!” grins Jolly. “No, definitely not!” laughs Nadja and becomes serious again, ”Take care of yourself.... Especially if you don't want to let her go. It could be dangerous for you and her!” “Thanks Nadja, I'll look after myself and her!” nods Jolly. “She's damn lucky!” Nadja chokes out and stretches up, kissing him on the lips. She takes her hands and puts them around his face. Jolly automatically puts his arm around Nadja's waist and lets the kiss happen, knowing it's a goodbye kiss. When Nadja lets go of him, tears run down her face, “I've always loved you!” she gulps. “Hmm,” nods Jolly.
“It's too late now.... I didn't think so!” she swallows again. “Nadja.... You are important to me. You'll always be important to me!” Jolly declares seriously. “That's really worth a lot to me!” Nadja nods, strokes his face one last time, then turns around, wipes the tears from her face and puts on her radiant smile again as she walks back to the other guests. Jolly looks after her with mixed feelings. Finding out that she loves him, has always loved him, is not so easy for him, as he was deeply in love with her at the beginning, which has changed over time, partly because he was never sure of her feelings. But if he had the choice between Nadja and Liv now, he wouldn't have to think about it for a second. His choice would always fall back on Liv.
He stands there lost in thought and doesn't even notice how hectic things suddenly become. It's only when Inga's shrill screams echo through the room that he looks up, startled. Jolly starts to move, pushing his way through the frozen people until he sees what is causing Inga's screams. Semjon is slumped in his chair, blood trickling from his nose and he is unconscious. Jolly himself is now frozen, his ears are ringing. He cannot comprehend what he is seeing. Is Semjon about to die? Inga sees him amidst the staring, shocked people and grabs him, shaking him “DO SOMETHING!” she yells at him, which brings Jolly out of his state of shock. “He has to go to hospital!” Jolly nods and wants to dial the emergency number.
“No, it'll take too long! You have to take him there! NOW!” Inga howls in despair. Jolly nods silently, FUCK.... The nearest hospital is the one where Liv works, he remembers off the top of his head, but all the others are far too far away. Kolja suddenly stands pale next to his father and sinks to his knees; “PAPA!” he wails, holding Semjon's hand. Jolly presses his jaws together, not knowing what to feel. Actually, he doesn't feel anything right now... except hope. Hope that this man here, to whom he owes everything bad and evil in his life, will finally die. Together with three other men, Jolly drags Semjon into his limousine. Jolly gets behind the wheel, waits until Inga and Kolja have got in and then drives off immediately. In the rear-view mirror, he can see that two other cars are following him. FUCK..... this could be a complete disaster, he fears. Especially if Olivia has to treat Semjon first, or if her colleagues recognize him as her boyfriend. FUCK!!! Inga makes a frantic phone call to Semjon's doctor, screaming at him to come to the hospital. Jolly is still clenching his jaw, hoping that Semjon will already be dead when they arrive at the hospital. But of course the bastard doesn't do him that favor.

He heard her body slump down as she nodded it off, being someone’s chauffeur wasn’t on his list, even if the caps and chems sweetened the deal The girl, Jade his mind autocorrected, was going to be more than deadweight. How the hell had she managed to catch up to him? She had sat down and passed out moments after coming into the little makeshift shelter. The best thing would be to let her sleep and leave. She will die if you leave her here.
“Oh thanks for coming to my rescue conscience,” The Ghoul muttered to no one, “I don’t do guide work.”
She made it this far
“And? Chance are she won’t wake up tomorrow.” The Ghoul ground his jaw, since when did he give a mole’s backside about anyone?
Give her chance
“Fine. If she wakes up I will take her to the closest town.” The Ghoul muttered covering his face with his hat. “Leave me alone, before I smoke your ass out of my head.”
He waited for a reply but got none, letting out a huff he settled his gun in his hand and le t himself drift into something resembling sleep.
***
She woke with a start, someone kicking at her feet. Sitting up she blinked a few times, eyes still not used to being outside the box. Letting out a cough she moved her bag around to her and dug out some water. Take a swig of it before looking up at the figure standing in what passed at a doorway.
“Time to get going, the sun is up.” The Ghoul murmured just loud enough she could hear him.
Standing she swayed back and forth, the aches in her bones making her stiffen for a moment. Jade wondered if she’d be able to walk, she pushed the thought out of her mind. You either walk or you die, she thought.
Her travel companion was already on the move, her feet felt heavy but she pushed herself after him. Until she was beside him, matching his hurried pace as best she could. The bag on her back dug into old scars and bruises, she winced as her feet slid into the shoes. Trying to keep the discomfort to herself. There was not a doubt in her mind that if she didn’t keep up he’d leave her in dirt. Payment or not he was on the move. Her stomach turned and she promptly threw up on the side of the road. She wiped her mouth taking a small swig of water, before hurrying to catch up to him.
“Could you tell me where we are?” She asked, maybe the conversation would help take her mind off the pain and endless nausea.
The Ghoul glanced at her, “West, Appalachian somewhere.”
“Shit. I didn’t realize how far they’d take me.” Jade cussed, her mind reeling at the knowledge she was hundreds of miles from the East Coast.
“We are heading west, if you want to go east you’ll have to turn around.” His matter-of-fact tone was almost funny.
“Nah, I’ve always wanted to go west,” She said trying to sound confident. The truth of the matter was she didn’t really know where to go. It wasn’t like anyone was waiting for her. The chance of the Enclave looking for her still was low, she was a failed experiment. Jade figured the value of her life wasn’t worth much more than the caps she’d give the bounty hunter. At least she was alive, for now anyway.
“I never got your name,” Jade asked, the silenes grinding at her, somehow making every part of her that hurt, hurt more. Stomach rolling, she briefly wondered if the small amount of water she’d drank would be coming up next.
“Ghoul is fine,” The man’s choppy replies should have been enough of an indication to shut up. Not that Jade cared, she’d paid him, and the least he could do was talk to her.
“That’s not name, not really. You have to be called something else.” Jade pestered, adjusting her bag so it didn’t dig in as much.
The Ghoul sighed, and shifted his shoulder, “Well that’s all yer gettin’ ”
Jade inwardly groaned, great this was going to be a long trip with Chatty-Cathay here. She decided at least for the time being to keep her mouth shut and keep walking. Hopefully, she won’t lose anything else she’d eaten on the way.

The sun was starting to set when they stopped to make camp, the Ghoul had tucked them off the main roadway. A small fire was started and cans of cram tossed in to heat up. They had barely spoken just walking, the bounty hunter would have just kept walking through the night if he thought his travel companion would have made it. The woman had thrown up twice more since this morning, her hands shaking every time she took a sip of water. At least she had managed to keep down the last bit of food they ate. Girl had started to lag behind near the end of the evening, he wasn’t surprised she hadn't kept up. He could see how pale she was as she flopped onto the ground. This girl had been locked in a closet yesterday for god knows how long and now had walked a dozen miles in a day. Maybe she was tougher than his initial observation.
Flicking a can of cram out of the fire at her, she was holding her water bottle staring off into the fire. He took a moment to look at her, she was fair-skinned with black hair and huge brown eyes. Her features were marred by scars but still delicate, she was small but there was fire in her. Few people kept up with him when he was moving, at least he figured she'd make it to the next town.
“Eat some food, got to get some sleep,” He gestured to the now cooling can of cram. “If we keep up the pace we will make it to the next town in another two days.”
Jade grabbed the can and opened it, “Two days is pretty good, do you know what the town is called?”
“Couldn’t tell you, but I am sure they will.” He murmured eating his food. “What are you planning on doing there?”
“I am not sure, probably look for work I suppose,” Jade said still staring at the dying fire.
“Not sure how big this next place is,” Ghoul replied, “But there is always work for those looking to make caps.”
Jade nodded, “I was a bartender in Atlantic for a bit. Pay was okay but they also gave me a room. Won’t mind doing that again.”
“How did you,” Ghoul stopped himself, gesturing into open space as he looked at her.
“Joel kidnapped me,” Jade answered as if it was nothing, “He knew I had been experimented on in the Enclave. Guess he figured I would be a good toy, and not have to worry about the consequences.”
Knowing she had survived being in the Enclove and was still sane. Mostly sane. Just to be kidnapped by the pieces of shit at that outpost and she still kept moving. Jade was much more than he had given her credit for.
“Consequences?” He asked, already having an idea what she meant. What he wasn’t expecting was for her to stand up and lift up the baggy shirt to point at the raised pinkish-grey scar going across her lower abdomen. Her whole torso was covered in various scars, some looked surgical in nature.
“Don’t have to worry about me getting pregnant from their clients,” She stated matter of factly before dropping it back down. “Means they can charge more.”
The Ghoul felt his stomach turn at the thought, that Joel had purposefully taken her cause she had had her reproductive organs removed. Just so he could charge more for people to use her.
“Too bad I am a fighter, bit off a few people's ears, and ripped a guy's throat out once. So they kept me drugged, which I guess was a gift 'cause I don’t remember too much.” Jade continued, her calm even voice was stark compared to the horrors she told. “One guy was stupid enough to go in without drugging, watched him bleed out on the floor dickless.”
The Ghoul couldn’t help a harsh laugh at the last one. “You are more than I anticipated.”
Jade shrugged, “Kill or be killed. One of the only things my Daddy instilled in me.”
“Your Daddy was a smart man. I am surprised they didn’t kill you for killing their clients.” The Bounty Hunter said, tossing his empty tin into the now-dead fire.
“Nah, piece of shit just used it to their advantage. Advertising me as being untamed.” She spit out adding her can to the pile.
Ghoul nodded, her lack of emotion around the whole situation was worrying. The girl could be close to a mental break. The wasteland was hard on most people who hadn't been through half of what she had. Yet she sat there like it was just another Tuesday.
“Should get some sleep,” The Ghoul stated, kicking out the last of the fire.
“I can take a watch,” Jade offered, pulling her bag against her chest.
The Ghoul settled down his old bones creaking as he stretched out. He tapped the side of his head, “Got good hearing. Get some sleep, long day tomorrow.”
Jade didn't argue, just curled up with her head resting on her bag. He waited until her breathing had evened out before shutting his own eyes.
***
The second day of traveling together went much the same. Mostly silence, with a few interjections of, ‘Drink some water’, ‘Take another stimpak’, ‘Your boots’re loud’, and Jade's favorite, ‘Keep up or I’ll leave yah’. At least the sun had been mostly off them, the trees in the Appalachian mountains made sure of that. She also had only thrown up once, which hopefully meant the worst of the withdrawals were coming to an end.
By the time they set up camp, Jade was ready to stab the asshole. She flunked down and got the fire started. The Ghoul had wandered away to ‘take a leak’. As she worked the pile of sticks into a good flame she dug into her bag to grab a can of food. She wanted food and some water, it was unfortunate that she had failed to grab some moonshine from the outpost.
A shuffle broke through the dead quiet. Jade scrambled to get up as her body protested against movement. The pistol pointed towards the sound. More rustling and the Ghoul stumbled out with a large bird-like creature in hand.
“Don't shoot, Pip-Squeak,” He grunted, flunking the carcass onto the dirt. “Found something fresh.”
Jade flopped back down and watched the man. A small smile played across the creature's scared lips. He stepped on both wings grabbing the feet and yanked. Jade cringed slightly as he degloved the meat from the feathered body in one fluid motion. Digging his fingers inside to get the entrails out. He looked up at Jade.
“In my saddle bag, there’s some metal skewers grab’em,”
Jade didn't hesitate groaning as her joints popped, reaching over into his bag and pulling out the set of skewers. She stood and grabbed a couple of branches, the two working to make a makeshift roaster for the prize.
Once the meat was roasting he sat himself down taking a puff of the inhaler. Those gold eyes rolling slightly, Jade wondered what the drug felt like. At the same time, bile came up at the thought of drugs. As much as she enjoyed the recreation here and there, it was probably best to avoid them for now.
“Whatcha looking at?” The Ghoul’s eyes are now on her. Even having been beside him for two days she couldn't help how much he looked like a predator. His eyes flowed over her like she was the meat on the spit.
“Never tried that chem before. It's newer stuff.” Jade stated, trying to sound calm. She felt like a rabbit caught in a corner, her heart rate spiking and her lungs trying to grab air.
Then his eyes were moving back to the meal, turning it over on the spit. The meat cracked and popped as it cooked.
“Yeah, the Enclave, well that's the rumor anyway. Made it so that they could keep Ghouls from going feral. Word got out and a few ‘doctors’ started making it.” He poked at the fire. “Thought, in your state I won’t be temptin’ fait.”
Jade waves her hand, “No, I’ve had my fill of chems for a lifetime. But how does it make you feel?”
The Ghould tapped the inhaler against his chin pondering the question. “It enhances everything. But at the same time numbs the mind, makes it quieter up here.” He tapped his forehead with a leather-gloved hand. “Being a Ghoul makes things enhanced, but it’s more like all my nerves are working as if my brain isn’t full of worms. As close to human as I’ll ever get.”
“Do you miss being human?” Jade prodded, this was the most conversation she had gotten out of him.
Stretching out he pulled off his gloves, hands red and gnarled like the rest of him, and grabbed a bit of the bird from the screwer. “Can’t say I do, some things,” He tapped a finger to what was left of the bridge of his nose. “But otherwise it’s not such a bad deal.”
Jade nodded, she wasn’t sure what she had expected, her time with Ghouls was limited. They were still mostly shunned, but things were starting to change. Some understanding that Ghouls could be handy and weren’t the monsters that many made them out to be. There were even several settlements of just Ghouls now.
“Did you ever think of settling down? Not many Ghouls do bounty hunting,” Jade continued grabbing a few chunks of warm bird, blowing on them before eating it. Tasted decent, at least it was warm and not from a can.
“Mmm, just like to keep moving,” The man replied, Jade got a distinct feeling he wasn’t telling her everything.
“Never thought of bounty hunting, maybe I will give that a go. Probably safer than bartending.” The girl groaned, eating more of the bird.
The Ghoul let out a chuckle, “Yah, bounty hunting is safe. Just like radroaches are good eating.”
Jade joins in with a chuckle leaning back against a tree. “See what comes my way. Your ears on?”
He tapped the side of his head and Jade took it as an indication that she could get some rest. Tomorrow would be just as long a day, maybe they’d actually get a bed tomorrow.
***
The road was well-trodden well-trodded, and evidence of other travelers where starting to pop up. He had mentioned it to Jade to keep her eyes peeled encase they had some unwanted visitors. In fairness he was just happy she was quiet, he hadn’t had a lot of company in his travels. The girl had grown on him, she was tough and didn’t seem to care about the Ghoulness. In fact, she liked to listen to him just as much as she liked to talk, the company was pleasant even enjoyable. Which was going to be a problem, he didn’t need dead weight. But she hadn’t been dead weight, had she? The Ghoul grumbled at his own inner voice, shoving it back into the hole it crawled out of.
A twigged snap and they both froze. Another snapped on the other side, and the Ghoul found himself back to back with Jade. Guns drawn and pointed, he could feel her breath coming out in short pants.
“Deep breathes, Tiger,” He said quietly, “if you see something shoot it.”
They moved in tandem turning in a circle trying to see if they could spot whatever was moving in the bush. Something crossed the pathway and Jade fired the shot making a thunk on impact. He didn’t bother to look eyes continuing to scan, something dark moved and he turned firing, a yelp coming out. Then they were on them, raiders, several. He felt Jade shoot more than heard it, his own gun going off as a mist of blood spurted into the air. The head of one raider turning into a pulp, he felt the impact of something hit his shoulder, but he was already moving. Two more shots, one dead, one screaming. Shells hit the ground as Jade reloaded. He could feel her ducking and followed the same. A deadly dance of gunfire and blood splatter. Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Raider jumping from the bushes, he turned covering Jade his knife coming out and sticking into the man’s throat. His hands dropped the weapons as he slid down the blade. A gurgling of icker coming out as he died on the Ghoul’s blade.
Standing up, the once quiet woods were now littered with several bodies, at least three of them were trying to crawl away. Ghoul watched as Jade walked up to one grabbing his hair to slit his throat, the Ghoul did something similar to one. The third pleaded for his life, but the several holes in his torso said he wouldn’t make it. Jade looked at the Ghoul, he nodded and she put a bullet between his eyes. She stood there almost as if she was seeing the carnage for the first time. Her legs wobbled and the Ghoul caught her under her arms.
“Easy now, easy,” He muttered helping her down against a large rock. She immediately grabbed her knees and pulled herself into a small ball.
He knelt down in front of her, “Hey, hey,” He patted her shoulder, unsure of how to comfort her. “They’re dead, you did good.”
The girl’s eyes were glassy as she nodded her head, breath coming out in short pants. Ghoul stood up and let out a sigh, of course, she would snap a few miles from town.
“I know you are going through shit,” The Ghoul spoke trying to reassure her as she rocked back and forth. “But we got to go, chance are there are more raiders.” The girl was still rocking, but her sniffles had slowed, “We should strip these guys of anything worthwhile and head into town.”
He waited a minute more, once the rocking stopped she uncurled herself. Holding out his hand he pulled her upright, eyes red-rimmed but the hard line of her jaw clenching let him know she was okay. Well as okay as she could be.
They stripped through the bodies quickly, ammunition, meds, chems, weapons, and a handful of caps. The Bounty Hunter leaned back on his heels. None of them had bags or anything that suggested they had been traveling far. Jade let out a yip, dancing around in a pair of boots that fit. The childlike joy after the breakdown was stark, but welcome.
“Think we should get moving. Think these were scouts,” He said standing and listening.
Jade had stuffed a few more things into her bag. Head-on swivel as she moved towards the Ghoul. She stood beside him facing the other way as if they'd done this a hundred times.
He turned satisfied that nothing was coming from behind them anyway. They both set off at a brisk pace towards what hopefully was somewhere safer than here.

Really happy to finally released this, it took way to long… (tumblr version below btw :3)
the flame and the flower
Chapter 1: falling into the field
"what?" Tango questioned, "Are you serious?!"
"Unfortunately..." Zed sighed.
"You've gotta be kiddinggg!" he whined, "You can't be out of redstone at a time like this!"
"Look I'm sorry Tango, but that's just the reality. I can't leave my shop to get more until tomorrow, so your just gonna have to wait."
Tango wanted to pout about it, but at this point he knew it'd get him no where. He sighed, "Oh geez, what am i meant to do now? The project I'm working on is almost finish and seeing it just sit there till tomorrow is gonna drive me crazy!"
"wellll, if your really that desperate, then i might have a solution for you." Zed said.
Tango's face lit up, "Really?"
"Mhm! There's a cave nearby here to the right that's quite small." he started, "It's not the cave i go to, but it does have a lot of materials last time i checked, and there was a surprising amount of redstone too, especially considering it doesn't go to deepslate."
"what does any of that have to do with my situation?"
Zed handed Tango an iron pickaxe, "what I'm saying is that, if your really in desperate need of redstone, then you can go there! Last time i checked, nobody else has even touched the place!"
Tango smiled at his best friend, "Oh my gosh, thank you so much Zed! I don't think you realize how helpful this is!"
Zed smiled back at him, "No problem!" he said, "Have fun with whatever your working on!"
"I will!" and with that, Tango walked off along with Torchy. Thankfully, Zed's shop was close to the edge of town, so he didn't have to try and avoid people. when he made it to the edge, before stepping on the grass, he instinctively flinched, suddenly fearing that he'd cause a forest fire by accident. He tried to push that fear aside though, but no matter how much he did, he still didn't exactly feel comfortable touching the grass, so he just opted to float to the cave instead. Torchy seemed to notice too, but he didn't make a comment on it.
As he started traveling through the forest, he quickly started regretting not asking Zed for more clear directions, because he was kind of confused. He admitedly wasn't too familiar with the forest, despite the fact that he'd lived next to it basically his entire life, so he didn't exactly know where he was going. Zed said that it was nearby to the left, but that's pretty vague all things considered. Oh void, he's lost, isn't he?! Oh who is he kidding, he's totally lost! He'd pasted by the same tree about ten times at this point, he has no idea where he's going and he doesn't even know how he got here!!
Tango started to panic a bit, fidgeting with his hands to try and calm his nerves. His tail flicking back and forth quite quickly, kicking up the loose grass on the ground. He doesn't really know what to do, his mind is just a blur of worry as he started thinking of every possible terrible outcome of this. Getting mauled by a bear, falling into a pit and starving to death, drowning in a river, getting attacked by wild animals, getting murdered and no one hearing him scream! There was thousands of ideas, and while a good third of them were quite unlikely, he couldn't help but overthink things.
He sat down next to the big tree and took a deep breath, "Oh void, what am i gonna do now..." he softly said to himself, "I have no idea where i am, let alone where home is..." he face planted into his knees and dramatically sighed. Torchy tried to comfort him by lightly patting his shoulder.
"Do you have any ideas Torch?" Tango asked him.
Torchy sheepishly shook his head no. Tango sighed, "I thought so." he stood up again, "wellll, i have no idea where we're going, but i guess we should keep on going?" he looked at his wisp for some form of reassurance. He nodded and hesitantly, they continued to travel into the forest. He was being quite cautious with every step, constantly look at his surroundings. But he wasn't paying much attention to the floor and suddenly--
Tango tripped and fell down a hill. Thankfully, it wasn't too big of a fall so he didn't get to hurt, there was just some scraps and bruises on his arms and knees. Torchy was also fine too, he can float after all and seem more concerned about Tango more than anything, asking him if he was ok.
"Yeah, I'm fine Torchy!" he insisted, "The fall wasn't that bad."
when Tango finally bothered to look up, he was surprised to find himself in...a flower field? Or, it seemed to something like that anyway. The place was covered head to toe with flowers, almost every kind under the sun to the point that it didn't seem natural. There was petals falling in the sky too. In the center of the field was this little mountain with what seemed to be a front of a house in the middle with a platform. There was also what appeared to be a lower level of house at the bottom of the mountain, there was another door and an outdoor storage area from what he could see. Close to him was a pond that look so clear he's pretty sure he could see his reflection. To be honest, the entire scene looked straight out of a fantasy novel. And Tango couldn't help but admire the place before standing up and dusting himself off.
And out of the corner of his eye, on top of the platform, stood a figure that seemed to have wings. He couldn't see it well from this far away, and when he turned to squint at the figure, it was gone. whatever it was, they must've left or something. Maybe they live here, or maybe it was stealing from the house? Either way, its none of his business and he's more concerned about getting home then being nosy. He started walking forward, trying to find some form of stairwell or path that could maybe lead him closer to home. He starts to wonder who even lives there though, i mean, there's got to be someone, right? This place doesn't really seem abandoned, sure there's vines everywhere, but it seemed liked someone still lived there. There was smoke coming out of the chimney of the house and he could see the lights on in there too. There has to be someone, righ--
"Hi!"
Tango shrieked and fell backwards. A canary stood before him when he looked up, offering they're hand, "Oh my void, I'm so sorry, are you ok?"
He was confused, but he took their hand never-the-less, "Y-yeah, I'm a-alright."
"Sorry for making you fall...again..."
"D-don't worry about it, I'm o-ok!" Tango insisted. It was at this point he actually took a good look at the avian. They had golden wings that faded into black at the tips, frizzy blonde hair with flowers in it that was tied into a messy bun, an off white sweater that sagged slightly off of their shoulder and these jean shorts that had different patches of fabric sewn onto the it as if to patch up holes. They were covered in a couple of scar and some dirt, the scar that stood out to Tango being one on the upper left side of their chest that kind of looked like a star, and they had these crystal blue eyes that looked like the colour of the ocean.
"...S-so, w-what's your n-name?" Tango awkwardly asked.
"Huh?" they questioned, until something clicked in their head, "Oh, OH, RIGHT! Sorry i forgot, my name's Jimmy! Nice to meet you!" he offered his hand out again.
Tango has admittedly always hated hand-shakes, and even though it kind of seemed impolite, he didn't shake his hand and just responded, "N-nice to meet you too! Name's Tango."
Jimmy seem a little confused as to why he didn't shake his hand, but he didn't question it, "Say, how did you end up here? Not many people ever really, y'know...v-visit me." he seemed a bit embarrassed to admit the last part of his sentence, his face lightly blushing.
"Oh, y-you see i-i was going into the forest to find a cave my friend told me about, and as you saw i uhhhh...k-kind of tripped and f-fell..."
"Oh, i see. Are you lost?" Jimmy asked.
Tango was embarrassed to admit it, but he really was lost, and maybe this guy can help him, "I-i...a-am lost. L-like, i don't e-even know where h-home is kind of l-lost."
"I figured." Jimmy seemed to have an idea before he spoke, "Say, do you...want to clean yourself up in my house?" he asked.
Tango was entirely confused, "H-huh?"
Jimmy seemed to catch how odd his offer sounded, his face flushing red as he was visibly flustered, "I-i m-mean, y-your c-covered in di-dirt f-from the f-fall, s-so i-i j-just t-thought yo-you'd want t-to c-clean y-yourself u-up i-is a-all!" he awkwardly chuckled.
"O-oh, i s-see." he was going to answer, but he suddenly had a question, "w-wait, d-do you l-live here?"
"Yeah!" Jimmy smiled, "I've lived here for years in fact! It's nice being connected to nature but it is quite...isolating..."
"Isolating?"
"Y-yeah, i d-don't r-really...h-have many f-friends." he admitted, "I mean i have my siblings, and i love them! B-but, they d-don't visit often, so most of the time i basically just have my cats."
"You have cats?"
"Yeah!" Jimmy nodded, "They're both taking a nap in my nest right now, but their wonderful! I love them with all my heart, but outside of them, i don't really have anybody that i see often. It is kind of my fault though, even if the curse isn't..."
"You're cursed?" Tango asked.
"Unfortunately..." Jimmy sighed, "Look just, let me show you." he picked up a red flower from the ground, hesitating for a second as if he felt bad about what he was about to do. He touched the flower regardless though, and suddenly, the flower started to wither and die and after less than a minute, it was fully dead. It looked pale, basically gray, and the silence during the entire moment made it feel so...eerie.
Jimmy tried to act cool but the guilt was paint all over his face, "...T-t-tada." he said, seemingly trying to lighten the mood, a shaky smile on his face that was lopsided.
Tango couldn't help but be a bit horrified by what he just witnessed, but considering Jimmy said earlier that this was a 'curse', and he knows better than anyone how it feels to have dangerous magic that's hard to control, he doesn't wanna make the poor guy feel bad about it. "O-oh, t-that's...c-cool!" it wasn't intentional, but he felt himself slightly back up a bit.
Jimmy took notice to that, "Oh d-don't worry! I-it c-can't hurt p-people as far a-as i k-know!" he reassured.
That bit of information sort of calmed Tango's nerves, but he couldn't help but notice the perfect opportunity to make a joke. And sure, while it might not be the most appropriate time to say it, he wanted to lighten the mood a bit and maybe calm Jimmy's own nerves, as he seemed nervous and even scared himself, "As far as you know?" he questioned, smiling so as to make it as clear as possible that he was joking.
Jimmy giggled, "well what do you expect me to do? Go ahead test it out on people!?"
"I don't know." Tango shrugged, "But as an inventor with wild magic myself, i feel like it'd be fun to experiment with that. Y'know, just to figure out what it's capable of."
"Y'know despite my curiosity, i don't think i wanna know what you've done with your magic when you say things like that."
"I would say the same thing about you but you seem wayyyyy to sweet to ever hurt anybody sunshine."
"A-- Hey! I could hurt somebody if i wanted to!" Jimmy huffed, he acted offended but by his smile he seemed more amused than anything, "I just...don't want to is all. But i could take like...five people and kill them if i really wanted to!"
Tango didn't exactly get it, but he couldn't help but smile at how Jimmy had perked up. And his positive and welcoming energy was just so...infectious.
"But anyways, do you need directions?" Jimmy asked.
"Uhhhh yeah, do you know where Hermonica is from here?"
"Yeah!" he pointed to a path to the left, "Follow that path and take a left when you see a beehive and you should get there!"
"Thanks!" Tango picked up his pickaxe from the ground, "Oh, and do you happen to know where any caves nearby might be?"
"You mean the one you were looking for before you fell into my house?"
Tango got kind of embarrassed that he mentioned that again, his face lightly blushing, "Y-yeah, that..."
Jimmy giggled, "well, if its the one i think you're talking about, if you take a right at the beehive instead, you should find it!"
"Great, thanks a bunch for the help!" Tango smiled.
"Oh no problem, good luck on your adventures!"
"You too!" Tango started walking towards the path.
"Oh, and Tango?" Jimmy started.
He turned around, "Hm?"
Jimmy seemed to suddenly get a bit shy and flustered, but he tried to keep his cool, "I-if y-y-you...e-ever w-wanna c-come and v-visit, i-I'd l-love to b-be...f-friends."
Tango was caught off guard by the offer, his face flushing red, "R-really?"
"Y-yeah! Y-you seem l-like a c-cool p-person, a-and I'm k-kind of l-l-lonely i-if I'm b-being h-honest s-so...i-I'd love t-the c-company." he had this goofy smile on his blushing face. He was fidgeting with his sweater sleeves seemingly to sink some form of nerves.
Tango couldn't help but smile back at him, he looked off to the side and tucked a piece of his hair behind his ear, "I-I'll...consider it."
Jimmy smiled and waved at him, and with that, he walked off on a path. He starting thinking to himself as he was walking, and he had a lot of question. who was that guy? How the hell did he get the curse? How long has he had the curse?! why does he live in the forest? How long has he lived there? There was a bunch of questions in his mind, and while some were pretty tedious and easy to answer, he was really curious. It's not everyday that you meet a mysterious avian in the forest that's apparently very lonely and has cats and a curse. But out of all off the question he had in his head, there was one specific one he had to himself;
was he going to come back?
And admittedly, despite the fact that Jimmy was a complete stranger, he genuinely wasn't sure.
